Let's do the Twist

Yes, I am recycling my corny Chubby Checker joke from several months ago when I reviewed the Lensbaby Trio. I managed to pick up a Lensbaby Twist at the last PhotoFair event in June. If you recall, the Trio is a turret mount with three small versions of Lensbaby lenses all in one. It is for APS-C and smaller sensors only and one of the ‘trio’ is a 28mm f/3.5 twist. I enjoyed that twist effect…

I am the producer/director, DP, and editor of On View at PHOTOFAIRS. On View is a video series in which gallerists and artists offer meaningful insights. It gives an intimate look at an exhibition or a specific work on view—and why it matters to them. In the first episode, we are delighted to introduce Guillaume Hebert: Updated Landscape at M Art Center, an exhibition that questions the changes created by urbanization in our modern societies. In this video, the founder of M Art Center, Lin Hong, discusses Hebert’s technical prowess as well as the thoughtful touches that went into the planning of the exhibition. Hebert takes the backgrounds from old-master paintings and pairs them with photographs of urban scenes. He surgically combines them into a single image, meticulously adjusting color and tone to ensure a naturally integrated scene.The work’s illusionary quality reshapes our perception, and poetically depicts the tragedy of urbanization.
