From the Ashes Infinity Comics #15: Pygmalion, Part 1
So, for those who are not aware - Infinity Comics are online-only comics distributed through Marvel Unlimited, their subscription based app and browser collection of comics. Regarded as 'inessential,' but still very much canon, the raft of Infinity Comics coming out of From the Ashes have been quite good, but I haven't seen fit to comment on them for a bit, until now, because . . .
Let's go.
For those not aware, Pygmalion is a famous novel by George Bernard Shaw, detailing the attempt by a phonetics professor called Henry Higgins to 'elevate' a Cockney flower-girl named Eliza Doolittle.
Intrigued by a bet that he could pass her off as a duchess through careful schooling, he decides to take her on, and though he succeeds, she ends up feeling marginalised and overlooked, treated as an object of gambling and curiosity rather than an individual in her own right, and though the play is best known for the 'culturing' of Eliza Doolittle, it is as much about the arrogance of Higgins, who is a thoroughly unpleasant and rude individual, in thinking that he has any ownership over Eliza for his education of her. He may have 'created' her, but he does not control her.
The Factory that the X-Men are living in at present must have really good central heating for Cyclops to be wearing basketball shorts and a crop top that short.
Beast is currently investigating some kind of issue with Magneto's chromosomes - to put it succinctly, he appears to be ageing rapidly, and does not have access to his X-gene at present. This is a continuation of the storyline in the previous Infinity arc, which focused on Magneto.
Something worth noting - this is the first acknowledgement of the fact that though Hank's body may be of roughly the same physical age as his original, his mind is considerably younger, situated at some point in his mid 20s. For someone who was always the oldest of the original X-Men, this is fairly significant.
Also worth noting - Hank joins the ranks of superheroes who are actively seeking therapy for their problems! Good on you, Hank! And good on you, too, Scott, for suggesting it. Though, perhaps, given recent developments in the mainline X-Men comics, you should take your own advice . . .
The fact that Hank refers to himself as the only one left seemingly confirms that X-Force took care of the Beast clones who Beast Prime planted around various landmarks as part of the Ghost Calendars arc. Though they were defeated in their respective future timelines, I wasn't quite sure if they had been taken care of in the present as well. This seemingly confirms that they were.
Hank's therapist is Dr. Andrea Sterman, a supporting character from Jed MacKay's Moon Knight run, and a member of the Midnight Mission. Given that the writer, Alex Paknadel, confirmed on Twitter that he talked with Jed MacKay about making sure all the details for Hank's storyline would line up with the mainline X-Men book, I can only imagine this was done as a rather fun continuity nod.
Hank also refers to a Shi'ar warship, an avian alien race that the X-Men deal with on a regular basis. This makes sense, given that Hank was beamed aboard the Shi'ar imperial flagship during the events of Dark Phoenix Saga in 1981 - ancient history for us, but relatively fresh in Hank's mind, given his memories come from 1985.
Hank, naturally, does himself a disservice here. Dark Beast was, assumedly, abducted at a relatively young age from his human parents, and indoctrinated by Mister Sinister as something of a protege - a protege living in perpetual fear of his mentor. He probably didn't have a chance to develop any kind of moral code divorced from the social Darwinist hellhole that is the Age of Apocalypse.
That being said, Hank probably lacks that context, and Dark Beast is unique among Age of Apocalypse denizens, not just for his unerringly cruel nature, having never shown any altruistic tendencies (unlike, say, AoA Cyclops or Nightcrawler), but also for his resilience. He persists, even now - though last seen in Immortal X-Men #9 as a head in a jar, he has come back from the dead at least twice before, and it is unlikely he is gone for good.
Fun fact - his appearance here is based on the costume he wore during his scrap with Emma Frost's X-Men team in a confrontation with Spider-Man and the Lizard. Though the X-Men naturally encountered him after this point, it's fun that this appearance by Dark Beast is considered iconic enough to be the 'definitive' look for him by this comic.
Hank's final remark, about 'Henry McCoy plus time equals atrocity,' is a sentiment often repeated on social media boards, and it's interesting to see it being internalised by Hank himself, given his unique perspective on the events that created his future self and the other potential timelines the X-Men files likely refer to.
Mm. A lot to unpack here.
Hank's relationship with his X-gene has always been complicated, and the way he views it here, as essentially morphing him into a shape that he finds abhorrent, predatory, and beyond his control, is consistent with how Hank seemed to see himself during his feline mutation, which lasted from 2000 to 2013.
Though his feline phase is not referenced in this comic, beyond the 'over time, and with a little help, these became more pronounced,' (probably a reference to Sage's jumpstarting his secondary mutation) it assumedly would be in the files Hank has been using to catch up, and one has to wonder if he's been repeating some of the thought processes that made feline Hank such a uniquely neurotic version of the character.
It's also nice to see a canonisation of my long held fanon that Hank's X-gene is actively attempting to craft a form for him that is best suited for survival, a belief that Hank only hinted at back in Morrison's New X-Men, but which made sense, given the circumstances of his mutation in X-Treme X-Men.
That being said, Hank's own mind seemingly strays back to the night his furry mutation first manifested at the Brand Corporation in Amazing Adventures, where he flew into a berserker rage and nearly killed Carl Maddicks, which always seemed a little incongruous with how Hank was written in subsequent appearances in Avengers and Defenders, but which now seems to be retroactively made an expression of the brutality he was capable of during his feline phase.
The 'violent upheavals' Hank refers to here are likely his initial secondary mutation, and then his near-death experience when said mutation randomly destabilised in All-New X-Men. It could also be a reference to his numerous genetic troubles during X-Factor volume 1.
His opining that he found refuge in the life of the mind is very reminiscent of Hank's desire to find meaning in poetry, literature, art, humanity, in the wake of the changes in his body in both X-Factor and New X-Men. X-Factor #33 and New X-Men #117 both specifically reference his delight in the freedom to think, in opposition to the clouding of the mind that came with his Pestilence inflicted dumbing down, or his newly awakened predatory impulses.
Ironically enough, Magneto is, aside from Simon Williams, the character with whom this version of Hank has shared the most panel time and dialogue, between his conversations in X-Men and previous From the Ashes Infinity Comics. It would appear that Max's need for a cure for his condition are fostering a necessarily stronger bond than Hank and Max have ever shared before in canon.
Precisely where the rest of the team is during the course of these events is unknown. If I had to guess, it's possible this might be set during the events of X-Men #2, where the rest of the team was attending to a mutant rescue in San Francisco, accounting for the lack of availability of the Marauder and a reliance on an old Quinjet.
Quite how Hank got his hands on said Quinjet is unknown, though it's possible it might be a holdover from Hank's Defender days, where he would regularly borrow a Quinjet from the Avengers, for purposes ranging from actual superhero missions to attending Patsy Walker's wedding.
Though this Hank's memories originate in closest proximity to the Defenders, and though that team did enjoy some degree of notoriety under Hank and Candy Southern's stewardship, the Avengers have always been where Hank was most popular in-universe, and he has had a habit of using that association to smooth things over in mutant related books, such as in X-Factor volume 1 and the 90s X-Men run.
Unfortunately, mutant rights are in a more dire state than ever before, with things having seemingly gotten only worse for them since the 1980s, and it's likely Hank didn't expect this level of hatred from normal civilians.
I have, unfortunately, run out of images, so I'll be posting the last of this issue and my final thoughts and predictions in another post.

Breakfast in Margate (Alfie Solomons x Reader)
Genre: Romance, Fluff, Modern AU
Pairing: Alfie Solomons x Fem!Reader
Word count: 3.2K
Warnings: A grumpy Papa Solomons (yes, that is a warning) and a whole lot of tooth-rotting domestic fluff
Summary:
Mornings arenât always easy. For example, itâs terribly difficult to not be caught making breakfast for your fiancĂŠ, a workaholic who always takes the task upon himself.
However, what makes it harder today is the fact he loathes food made with recipes found online. Fortunately for you, though, Alfie isnât the only one whoâs good at playing games when he wants to push his own agenda.
Especially those that concern a sweet reward.
Authorâs note: I've kept Alfie's adherence to his Jewish heritage quite loose. Nevertheless, I hope that the aspects I did incorporate in this work have been done so properly. If not, let me know and please don't hesitate to educate me (in a polite and respectful manner) because I love learning about different cultures and religions.

Mornings like this are rare, these quiet moments unbroken by the usual ruckus in the kitchen. Now, itâs solely my bare feet on the wooden floor and the waves crashing onto the shore. No clanging of metal, no muttered curses in Yiddish or Russian, nor the scent of freshly brewed coffee.Â
In the living room, Cyril lays in front of the hearth. The first rays of sunshine fall over him like a warm natural blanket, highlighting the ginger undertone in his fur. One of the many features he shares with his owner.Â
As soon as I pass by, he lifts his head, tilts it in wonder, and lets out a low bark. After all, itâs Alfie whoâs more often than not the first one to wander around the house at the crack of dawn. That is, if heâs slept at all. However, recently heâs started properly adhering to the Shabbat. Although, as much as he allows himself to because if Alfie Solomons is one thing, itâs mighty stubborn. Moreover, heâs an incurable workaholic. As hard as he works at The Old Rum House Bakery to let the business flourish and maintain his position as the fearsome Mad Baker of Camden, just as much effort does he put into our relationship. In fact, itâs not only towards Cyril and I his attention goes, but also to the house.
Our home.
Alfie has become a lot more domestic since we started dating, shortly after meeting one another on a train to London. Disregarding his tendency to walk around naked, he cooks and cleans, assuring me time and again I donât have to help. When we go out for our weekly grocery trip, no matter how tired he is, he carries the bags to the car so that I donât have to. Neither do I have to put away what we got, more often than not shipped off to the luxurious red sofa in the living room with a cup of coffee or tea to pair with whatever heâs baked at night.Â
Nevertheless, regardless of the otherwise very loose relationship with his heritage, Ollie and I are glad heâs at least taking a day off in the week to rest up. The bakery has recently started taking its toll thanks to an influx in customers, which means extra stock as well as staff is needed. In turn, this means more part-timers to train and more admin work. In other words, everyone has to pick up the pace to meet the current demand. Such is the power of marketing, especially on social media. Alfie is loath to admit it, but Ollie and I can tell heâs secretly grateful we managed to convince him to let us handle the bakeryâs socials.
We donât get cinnamon buns on Monday anymore, though.
I stop in my tracks, turn to Cyril, and put a finger to my lips. âI know, love, but Papa is still sleeping. Itâs finally Mamaâs turn to make breakfast again.â
Seldom do I get the chance to experiment in the kitchen, let alone try a recipe Iâve found online. Or worse, via Youtube or Instagram. Now, thatâs usually enough to make Alfie bristle. Nevertheless, mention the word âviralâ and a scowl will twist his lips.
Sometimes I wonder whether or not Alfie and Cyril are the same person because he lowers his head onto his paws and lets out a deep sigh that sounds like sarcastic resignation.
Thanks for the faith, buddy.
âItâs gonna be okay. No fire in the pan this time, I promise. How about we go stretch our legs after brekkie, hm? That sound good?â
Cyril huffs in agreement and closes his eyes, back to enjoying his luxurious pillow.Â
We bought it for him when we went antique shop hopping in London last week. Although, perhaps itâs better to say I bought it after convincing my grumpy companion we should occasionally pamper our adopted four-legged child and I couldnât fix his old pillow anymore. Of course I could, but I was more than done with constantly needing to fix the seams and re-stuff the thing.
Borough Market has become a regular stop on our weekly grocery trip, mostly because I used the splendidly efficient strategy of batting my lashes and pouting. Artisan goods and fresh produce can be luxuries, something to only occasionally splurge on. After all, why spend a fortune when there is a cheaper alternative thatâs just as good?Â
Nonetheless, Alfie developed a taste for supporting local businesses soon after our first visit. To some he has proposed contracts, offering them a position as a supplier to his bakery. Granted their goods are kosher, of course.
Yesterday, we got some wonderful fresh bright yellow bananas, eggs from a local farm, and oat flour from a mill a little ways away from London. Alfie thought little of it when I plonked them triumphantly in our grocery bag, having occupied himself with the fresh stock one of the florists was setting out. I glance at the colourful bouquet of wildflowers on the table and for a moment Iâm back to him holding out to me, face full of the warm tenderness that stands in stark contrast to the stern and unpredictable persona he portrays when Iâm not there.Â
Right then and there, he wasnât The Mad Baker of Camden, the fearsome King who rules the borough.
He was a sweet and caring gentleman.
Simply Alfie Solomons.
Nevertheless, in spite of these small moments of tenderness, he can still be awfully grumpy.
Especially if he hasnât had his coffee.
âMorninâ, dove.â Two big warm hands glide over my hips towards my lower stomach. Those very same palms pull me flush against a naked chest grown soft with neglected muscle, slightly clammy with the remainder of last nightâs late summer heat. Alfie presses his lips to the side of my neck and hums, tightening the embrace as he does so. The sonorous trill in his voice sends a shiver down my spine and rekindles a familiar heat. Nonetheless, the way he leans on me betrays he isnât entirely awake yet. The slight slur in his words serve to confirm the lingering drowsiness, sounding like theyâve been pulled out of bed only moments before too. âThat shirt looks good on you.â
âIâm glad you think so because youâre not getting it back any time soon.â I briefly stop mixing the batter to scratch his beard. He closes his eyes and leans into the touch as a content sigh escapes him. âYou slept in.â
âStill woke up to an empty spot, though. If you want me to sleep more, yeah, which you know I find a terrible waste of time, Iâll need my wife to âold.â
I pat his hands to placate him. The thin gold band inlaid with a modest diamond around my ring finger matches his. I had thought Alfie would pick something elaborate for himself, but instead he chose a simple thick gold ring and got it engraved. It says: Ani lâdodi, vâdodi li; I am my belovedâs and my beloved is mine. âDonât get hasty. We arenât married yet.â
âLetâs just go to the courthouse today.ââ He slips his hands beneath the fabric of the shirt I stole from him, letting them rest on my stomach after a brief caress. Itâs a gesture he often makes nowadays. ââSign the paper, right, and be done with it so the desk eaters are âappy. We can always celebrate it later. Throw a party as big as the whole of bloody Camden, like a proper coronation ceremony to celebrate our union.â
âTempting as it is, Iâll have to refuse. Besides, it's Shabbat today and you need to take a break. I promise I can wait a little while longer to officially become Mrs Solomons.â
âYou âave been from the start, Y/N. I donât need a ring to call you my wife. âSides, you well know âow I am. Which reminds me, breakfast is my job, innit?â A wary tone creeps into his voice as he leans away to check whatâs in the mixing bowl. âIs that edible?â
âIt will be,â I say, continuing to mix the ingredients until theyâre well combined.
âIâm not eatinâ that goo. Looks fucking awful, that stuff.â
âItâs healthy goo! Uses the bananas, eggs, and flour we got yesterday.â
Nose scrunched, Alfie peers at me. âOh, so yesterday was all a little scam to get me to eat whatever this is?â
âYou arenât the only one who can lie. Although, itâs not really a lie, is it? More like a half-truth.ââ I shrug. ââI simply never told you my plan. Would ruin the surprise.â
âWhich is?â
âBaked oats that taste like cake. They just havenât been baked yet.â
âWhereâd you get the recipe?â
âYouTubeâŚâ
He groans, wide awake now that the conversation has taken a turn towards a point of absolute irritation. âFucking âell, dove, âow many times âavenât I told you not every recipe on social media-ââ
âDonât judge before youâve tried it.â I put the spatula down, turn around in his embrace and steal a kiss off of his lips. âSaid so yourself, didnât you?â
âDonât use my words against me.â
âOh, I will. If only to keep things fair. Have a little faith in me. Itâll be fine.â
I hope.
A warning finger raised and pointed at me, he leans in until our faces are mere inches apart. âFine. But Iâm gonna make us coffee, right, so weâll at least âave something to get us fucking started.â
I canât suppress a chuckle at the grumpy gesture. âSure.â
The threat turns into tenderness when he cups my cheek. His palm has grown rough with the hours spent at the bakery, proof of his hard work. Tenderly, he presses his lips to mine. âIkh hab dir lib.â
âI know.â To show I accept his usual indirect apology for his bad mood and avoid coming across as being cross with me, I run my fingers along his jaw. âI love you too.â
Resting his forehead against mine, he nudges my nose with his. âMhm.â
âWhy donât you take Cyril for a brief walk, eh? The oats have to bake for twenty-five minutes anyway.â
âWe can take âim on a walk later together. Iâll go set the table.â
âFirst put on a pair of knickers.â
âNo.â
âYou know the rules, Alfie. No buns on the chairs during summer.â
âI ainât sweating.â
âNot yet.â
âMaybe youâre the one who isnât.â
I cock an eyebrow, fighting the smug smirk threatening to break out. âThat so?â
âYeah,â he drawls, âfirst weâll âave coffee, right, âcause otherwise neither of us functions. Now, âow about after weâve started the day proper Iâll fuck you like last night, hm?â
Until I black out.Â
The prospect of it mixes with memories of last night. Sea blue eyes, usually so steady and full of hidden temperaments, barely able to refrain from going cross-eyed. The fight with the stutter in his hips, gradually growing closer to the edge of pleasure but also exhaustion. Big hands reminiscent of wolf paws gripping the headboard for support while I was already lost in a satisfied delirium. The absent-minded glance to the bruises on my thighs adds to the steadily growing heat between my legs, perversely longing for more.
For him.
Nevertheless, the haze clears in an instant with a single sharp thought. I take a step back, crossing my arms as I search his expression for confirmation. However, as usually is the case, Alfie keeps his true motifs to himself. And this time, behind a mask he tends to put on when he wants something from me in particular. âSo you can make breakfast. Thatâs what youâre getting at, arenât you?â
âNo,â he purrs, stealing a kiss as soon as he has bridged the distance between us, ânot at all, dove. I just want my wife. I wanna make love to you.â We softly start to sway, slowly making our way out of the kitchen. âLet me make love to you.â
We come to a halt on the threshold. âLater. After you put on a pair of knickers and weâve eaten.â
He blinks, the cheeky smile grown stiff. I can feel his muscles tense, unconsciously causing him to grip me a bit tighter than before. âBut-ââ
âKnickers, Alfie.â
âOne round.â
âAlfred Solomons Jr, knickers. Right now.â
The use of his full name provokes a menacing snarl, the kind which is usually preserved for those who cross him. âThose oats better be fucking worth it, yeah, âcause otherwise youâre payinâ for lunch.â
I trace his cock, the skin hot and hardening beneath my fingertips with every sharp intake of breath. Perhaps this game wonât go on for as long as it usually does before he loses control. âSomehow I donât think I will.â
He roughly grips my face, the thrill of every low-voiced word against my lips travelling throughout my body. âI ought to do somethinâ âbout that attitude of yours. Big fucks small, Y/N, always.â
Game over.
Except for the one card I have left to play.
âI know,â I wrap my hand around him, barely able to grip him properly, âbut first some knickers. Please, Papa?â
âClever bird, ainât ya?â He growls into the kiss when I lightly squeeze him and let go. âMaybe I should carry out my own personal form of stigmata later. Add to those pretty bruises.â
Like snow in the spring sun, his attitude melts and changes. Alfie gently nudges my cheek and makes for the bedroom. A few moments later, he returns and starts setting the table while I pour the batter in the ramekins and plop them in the oven.
Despite the promise to make coffee, I reach for the cupboard to grab a mug. After all, old habits die hard.
Nevertheless, I find myself cut off by a hand that gently lowers mine, away from the handle.
âI said Iâll make us coffee,â Alfie grumbles. âLet Papa Solomons do âis job, yeah. Go sit in the livinâ room. Iâll be there shortly.â
I nod at the baking aftermath in the sink. âI got some washing up to do.â
âNah, that can wait. Coffee and, âopefully, food first.â He places his hands on my shoulders and kindly coerces me out of the kitchen. âGo on.â
I let him guide me, feigning defiance by pouting. Yet, the act quickly falls apart with a lighthearted giggle. I suppose I still have a lot to learn from him concerning the art of masks. âAlright.â
Soon after he joins me on the porch, where Iâve settled down with Cyril to enjoy the salt air. The beach across the street is still empty, devoid of the plethora of towels. The breeze is silent, not yet filled with the chatter of tourists and locals alike.
These hours are ours.
This is our Margate.
â'Ere you go, love.â Alfie hands me a steaming mug of cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso, the milk soft and foamy, before he sits down next to me. I rest my head on his shoulder and close my eyes as I take a sip. âNice, innit?â
âMhm.â
Thus we sit in comfortable silence, enjoying the view and each otherâs company. Cyril has started to doze off, although he tries in vain to keep his eyes open. One glance to the side tells of Alfie fighting the same battle. Occasionally he pulls a face or lifts his hand to stifle a yawn. Itâs strangely funny to watch him continue to take a sip afterwards, a small gesture of hope. Surely he should be readily awake before his cup is empty.
Because sleeping isnât an option.
Heâs tired of the nightmares.
The faint sound of the oven going off disturbs the domestic bliss.
Alfie groans as struggles to get up, glad to have my arm to use as support while he pulls himself to his feet. I say nothing, knowing full well how his sciatica influences his mood.
And itâs already rotten enough in the morning.
As Alfie washes his hands, I get the baked oats out of the oven and place them on the plates. Meanwhile, Alfie warms up a few slices of babka and the challah bread we made together yesterday. âJust so we âave somethinâ.â
He sits down while I wash my hands. From the corner of my eye, I see him poke the oats with his fork. âItâs kosher?â
âIt is,â I say, drying my hands before I sit down across from him. âShall I go first?â
âVery funny.â He scoops a bit of the oats onto his fork and puts it in his mouth. His brows knit together, contemplating the taste.
âAnd? Do you like it?âÂ
Remaining silent and gaze fixed on the ramekin, he pokes his oats again.Â
I swallow hard, my excitement crushed under the stones of dread. A nagging voice in the back of my head feeds into the fear of his judgement. Funny how one connects their self worth to food. Then again, it was that which started our relationship. A cup of coffee, a slice of babka, and a slice of plant-based carrot cake. Back then, though, my stomach didnât quiver this badly nor did my ribs feel like they were caged in a very tight-strung corset. âYou donât.â
âDove,â he begins, but doesnât continue.Â
Not until after heâs had another bite. âItâs good.â
âI canât tell if youâre being serious or simply trying to appease me.â
âIâm serious.â
âYou are?â
âI am,ââ he says, raising his voice ever so slightly in spite of the effort to keep it even. Alfie finally meets my gaze and I can tell heâs being sincere regardless of the way he accusingly waves his fork at me. ââBut I still donât like 'ow you got this off of the internet. âOw many times âavenât I told you, hm? You should know better by now.â
I chuckle as I at last taste the baked oats myself. Theyâre chocolatey with a subtle banana undertone, which is warmed by the cinnamon. âI gotta find new recipes somehow.â
âThere are cookbooks.â
âToo limited and they take up too much space.â While nibbling on a piece of challah bread, I take a sip of coffee. âCan I make this more often?â
âIt does taste like cake,â he reluctantly admits, spooning up another bite. âYes, you can.â
âWhy do you make it sound like thereâs a condition?â
âYou can make these oats, yeah, if I get to serve you something sweet in return.â
Something not to be had in the kitchen.
ââDeal,ââ I lean in, biting my lip as I play my final card, ââPapa.ââ
Alfie clenches his fork upon hearing his favourite nickname, the title he is secretly proud of. A dark haze clouds his eyes, the gloss in them highlighted by the morning sun. The smirk on his lips has evened out, his jaw tightened with the effort to practise self-restraint.Â
Game over.
I won.
And the prize is something sweet with lots of cream.

sorry for the late chpt. I was really sick so i tried my best on this chpt. next chpt will be longer, i promise.
warnings: some level of chae-young attempting infidelity, swearing
wonwoo came home to find yn passed out on the couch.
"you okay?" - wonwoo
"i need sleep. i've been stuck at school finishing my final project and i just finished. now i have to worry about the stupid reunion in two days. i have no dress and i look like a zombie. life is great." - yn
"go take a shower. i'll get the guys to help you. jeonghan has connections." - wonwoo
the word shock wasn't enough to describe the look on everyone's faces when yn and wonwoo walked in through the door.
some background information: in the one week before this gathering, yn had completed her pieces for the museum, her final project for university and all her outstanding commissions. her exhibit had been very successful and she had earned quite a significant amount of money.
"yn. is that your boyfriend?" - aunt
"yes. this is jeon wonwoo, my boyfriend." - yn
"nice to meet you, my name is jeon wonwoo." - wonwoo
"yn-noona... isn't that the streamer gameboi? you're dating Korea's number 1 [game name] player?" - younger cousin
"no way..."
the whispers in the event room got louder and louder until the people she hated finally came towards her. it was evident that chae-young was gawking at wonwoo. she didn't even bother to hide her lovestruck expression from her husband.
"so this is the new guy you have, huh yn." - mother
"good morning, i'm jeon wonwoo." - wonwoo
it seemed like he had to repeat himself often today.
"what's your net worth?" a disrespectful question right off the bat was expected and both yn and wonwoo had prepared for it.
without missing a beat, wonwoo simply smiled and said, "14 million. I am sure that I have enough to take care of yn for the rest of our lives."
the jealousy that clouded chae-young's face was the best thing that yn had ever seen.
sitting at the table was very awkward because they were surrounded by whispers and glances.
âso wonwoo. what do you work as?â chae-youngâs husband was actually a very nice man. he was always kind to yn and her brother and was the complete opposite of his distasteful wife.
âiâm a gamer. iâm currently in talks of joining [fictional korea no.1 pro gamer team]. that deal closes before june,â - wonwoo
âah i see. what about you, yn? what are you working as now?â this question was on everyoneâs mind. some with ulterior motives.
âup until thursday, i was a museum part-timer and finishing university. but i recently managed to sell many of my art pieces and have made quite a name for myself in the past three days. in case you all didnât know, almost every artwork in this building was made by me over the last 4 years.â - yn
the room was silent. you could hear a pin drop and wonwoo couldnât help but smile to himself.
letâs walk through the real train of events.
after the âfake-datingâ agreement, wonwoo, minghao, mingyu and dokyeom had helped yn move every piece of her artworks over the years to minghaoâs studio to sort through them. it took them almost 30 hours to categorise. by monday, they had organised the auction within the museum, an exhibition for her other works and an online bidding website for exclusive works. from tuesday to thursday, the auctions and exhibitions opened.
every one of ynâs artworks sold for incredibly high prices. this particular hotel that the family reunion was, had purchased a significant amount of said artworks.
âyou mean you painted that painting of a phoenix?â - uncle
âi did that 2 years ago.â - yn
âand that ceramic heart? that was you?â - aunt
âyes.â - yn
wonwoo could not help but smile at ynâs nonchalent bragging. just then, a hand reached across to tap his.
âso~ wonwoo-oppa~ how did you and yn meet?" chae-young began to blatantly flirt with wonwoo while her HUSBAND sat helplessly beside her.

yn wasât exaggerating when she described all of chae-youngâs antics.

Series Masterlist
There have always been certain women in your life that you just didnât click with. Some you wanted to, badly. Others you admired from afar, too shy or self conscious to really try to form any kind of bond, be it professional, educational or friendly. There were some you wanted nothing to do with.Â
And then there was Pamela.
She was someone you had always admired, still slightly feared, but had resigned yourself to maintaining a simple and mildly judgemental, professional relationship. So when she woke you up, hungover and definitely disheveled as you were, on the bus to Phoenix, you were wary.
âHey, sorry, but uhâ could you come with me? Please?â She looked a little spooked and not exactly as apologetic as she sounded, but you nodded and tried to rub the sleep out of your eyes.
âWhatâs going on?â You said quietly, aware of all the other people around you as you shuffled after her to the actual bunk room in the back of the bus. Except no one back there was even asleep.
âTell her what you told me. Or everything. Whatever comes last.â Pamela seemed pissed as she snapped at Dean and a sudden dread flooded your senses.
He sat on a bottom bunk, fingers rubbing over his lips in consideration as he glared at Pamelaâs demands.
You knew something was up with the buddy system after the last show, but neither you nor Charlie had found anything substantial online. Which left in person or direct phone call threats. Youâd been with the band long enough to have seen some shit, from overzealous fans to crazy exâs and even a few stalkers. Bennyâs team didnât mess around when something had weight behind it. Outside of Vegas, you thought it was over.
By the look in Deanâs eyes, it was worse than you had guessed.
âWho died?â Was possibly the worst thing you could have said to Dean, by the journey his face went through.
He just gaped at you before Pamela dove back in.
âWaitâ did someone actually die?â
âWill you let me speak for my damn self?! Christ, Pammy. Sorry, Trouble, this is not how I wanted you to find any of this out. Sit down.â
âOh boy.â
There wasnât any furniture back there and it felt oddly intimate to sit next to Dean on a borrowed bed like that. Every other bed was too far away. Instead, you slinked down to the floor and popped your knees up in front of you, like a child during circle time, but with something to hold onto.
âWhatâs going on? Is this about that guy outside of Wednesdayâs show?â
âKind of.â
Pamela exhaled and uncrossed her arms. âIâm gonna goâ I donât think Iâm needed and itâs just gonna rile me up if I hear it all over again. But Iâll be up front if either of you need me, got it?â
âGood callâ and, uh, thanks.â Dean looked up at her. Pamela nodded and left you and Dean alone.
The air grew thick and you had to get something off your chest before Dean got into whatever had Pamela so on edge. âAre you okay?â
Dean sighed and picked at the seam of his jeans. âI thought I was, you know? Iâve been putting in the work, but being back there, and then seeing Alastairâ Having Cain at the fucking show. Really messed with my head.â
âWho are they?â
âWell, youâve heard about Cain, Cain Charles. I used to box at his gyms all the time.â
You nodded into the pretzel of your arms.
âWell, I wasnât really boxing not most of the time. I was fighting in underground MMA type bouts. And Alastair, the slimy looking dude outside the first show? He was my trainer.â
Dean let that sit, but it didnât take long for the pieces to start to fall together.
âThe bruisesâ I remember how you were always hurt or stiff all the time.â
âYeah, donât miss that one bit either.â Dean rested his elbows on his knees and looked down at you, hunched as if heâs expected to get yelled at.
âSo, what do they want? Whyâs Benny got the guys on high alert?â
âMe.â
It was almost comical the way your mind looped around that simple word. Lots of people wanted Dean. And you couldnât blame them, but those connotations didnât quite fit the conversation so far.
âFor what?â
âBack in the ring, at their beck and call, probably licking their boots while Iâm at it.â
You straightened up, urgency starting to get the better of you. âDean, I need more information here. Were you, like, an indentured servant? Do you owe them money? Why are they after you for real?â
âNo, I, uhâ I was there willingly. Started off with a fight at a club and when one of the goons came over to break it up, the guy didnât kick me out. Instead he gave me a card, told me I had âpromiseâ.â
âSo you just decided one day to be a cage fighter? Being a rockstar wasnât enough or something?â You balked, trying to figure out what drove Dean to that place.Â
âLook, Iâm not perfect, okay? And neither are you, so please, let me explain myself a little?â
You folded back in on yourself. âYeah, of course, sorry.â
âNo, Iâm sorry. I didnât mean it like thatâ just give me the benefit of the doubt here, at least in the beginning.â
You twisted your fingers in front of your lips and tossed an imaginary key behind your back. Dean huffed out a laugh and cleared his throat.
âSo, uh, do you remember before the fourth album we were kind of burnt out and Pamela and Lee were going through the last divorce and Bobby was kind of still AWOL because heâd just gotten married himself and Sam was fine by then and Adam was getting all those scholarships and shit?â
âYouâre talking, like, almost back to the summer before the shit with Cas, right?â
  âThere abouts, yeah.â
âOkay, vaguely. I remember being busy, Zacarriah had just been promoted and he was doing a lot of poking around. So I wasnât doing much with you guys in personâ since it was between tours.â
âYeah, makes sense. Charlie and I played a lot of Call of Duty that break.â
âOkay?â
âI justâ I was low. And then, finally, we got back into the studio and I could do something, be useful. I was able to sort of bury the darkness.â
âBut it didnât go away?â
Dean shook his head.
âFast forward and I get this mafia-looking dude telling me I was worth more than just what my dad wanted me to be.â
âDeanââ
âItâs okay. Iâve been over that with Missouri too, just sayinâ why it was such a compliment.â
Dean rubbed his palms against each other and kind of looked behind you as he kept talking. âSo I checked it out, the fights were underground but not, like, dirty. I mean, they fought dirty as hell, but I didnât feel like I was getting an STD just by walking in.â
âOkay, so youâre no Tyler Durden. What made you stay?â
Dean rolled his eyes.
âThe rush of a fight. And you knowâ Iâm hard up for praiseâ itâs why I love the spotlight and the fans. But it wasnât like it is with the band. I didnât even have to work as hard at it as I do with the musicâ it was only me up there. I didnât have to answer to anybody else. It was just my hands and the other guysâ that I had to worry about. No harmonies, no compromises. It was easy. And I thought it made me free.â
Dean didnât meet your eyes, he looked at the wall behind you or the floor. You had never seen him so ashamed, or so outright confessional.
You inched forward, the need to comfort him tingled along your arms and into your useless hands. âWhat made you stop? Besides the last tour, obviously, you couldnât be in two places at once.â
âUh, so, Cas must have been following me because there was one night where it got really bad. I got really badâ just pummeled a guy to the mat. Theyâ thereâs not really refs, more like bouncers to hold back the crowds. But it took three of them to haul my ass to the showers. Cain has doctors on retainer, nobody was gonna call an ambulance and rat the place out. But, he wasnât moving the last time I got a look at him.â
Dean looked up and into your eyes.
âI still donât know if that guy is okay or anything. That was my last fight before we hit the road. And Cas called me out, eventually. Let me stew with the unknown and the guilt for a good month first. I didnât know he needed me. He had his own shit with the kid and stuff then. I just thoughtâ I donât know. Anyway, you probably got a good handle on what happened after that.â
âSo, theyâre blackmailing you? Cain and Allistair?â
âAlastair.â
âHim.â
âNo, but theyâre watching you. They knowâ they know everyone I care about. Cain thinks Iâm letting you guys save me from my true nature. Heâs big on instinct and fight or flight crap. But heâs very logical about it all. Alastairâ,â Dean blew out the breath he had been holding and dropped onto the floor in front of you, back against the drawers beneath the beds. âHeâs a fucking sadist. He wants people to hurt, itâs not just about powerâ- itâs torture.â
You swallowed. âDonât you think we need to go to the authorities? They sound dangerous. Really dangerous.â
Dean shook his head. âThatâs not an option. Cain is too good, his business is airtight. Nobody talks or walks away. Thatâs why heâs so insistent. He thinks he can bring me back.â
You didnât want to know, but you needed to know, so you asked, âdo youâ would you?â
âNo. Not anymore. Iâve come too far. Thereâs days when I think about it. When it would be easier to just be the beast again. But Iâve got too much to lose. I have the band family, Charlie, Gibson, youâ- So no, Trouble, I ainât going back.â
You smiled at him, softly, not really letting him see how that sent your face burning with all the worry still hanging in the air.
âHow can I help? Do I need to enlist Charlie and get our devices better hidden? Change reservations to keep people off our trail? The tour is set, we canât cancel any datesâ- but we can be more careful.â
âUh, wow, I guess check in with Bobby and Benny? Theyâre already on top of things, but more eyes on it couldnât hurt. Iâ is there anything you want to know? I feel like youâre taking this really well. Like instant problem solving mode. Not even flinching over whatâ the things I did.â
Dean leveled you with an unimpressed glare and cleared his throat. âHit me. I can take it.â
It was your turn to roll your eyes as you resituated your legs and propped yourself up on your right hand. âItâs a lot, you know? We knew you were struggling. And we all had been on the receiving end of your temper enough to know not to poke the bear.---- But, I guess, itâs nice knowing, for sure. Like there was something thereâ- Someones there holding you back, keeping you from us. Iâm sorry you had to go through that all alone.â
Dean bumped your knee with his. âDonât need your pity. But, maybe, your forgiveness. Because I was fucking rotten to youâ- more than once.â
âYou sure were.â You looked him dead on.
âYouâre a part of this band. Whether we say it or not. Even Kevin knows youâre in charge.â
âPamâs in charge, she just lets everyone run things,â you quipped, an old Bobby line.
Dean chuckled. âFine. But I am sorry for the things I called you. And how much I leaned on you after Sam and Bobby pulled my head out of my ass.â
âDonât be.â Dean gave you a face. âOkay, the first part, yes. Be. But the afterâ that wasâ it meant a lot. It gave me something to look forward to. Made me feel like I was doing actual friend things instead of work things. Kind of miss the callsâ the check-ins. It was a good part of my routine.â
âYeah, me too.â He sounded so soft, like a favorite blanket waiting for you on the back of the couch. He was right there spilling his guts out and all you wanted to do was crawl into his lap and tell him it was going to be alright.Â
You stayed put.
âThank youâ youâve beenâ Christ, I couldnât have done this without you, you know? You pulled me throughâ in so many ways.â
âOf course. Youâd do the same for any one of us. Hell, you did it for Sam more times than I can count.â
âYeah, but heâs my kid brother. Itâs not the same.â
You hummed. âYeah, but still. Anytime.â
âHopefully not too soon.â
You huffed a laugh. âAgreed.â
You stretched and sat up on your knees, groaning at being on the floor for so long. âOkayâ well, weâve got like an hour before we get to the hotel. Do you need anything from me before we get to our rooms?â
Dean shook his head and stood up, quickly leaning down to help you the rest of the way. âI should be good, but yeah, check with Benny for the details. And, please, just watch out for Donna and the girls? Theyâll be guarded, but I donât want them thinking weâre neglecting them while we circle the wagons for our own.â
âOn it.â
Dean put his hand on the ball of your shoulder and squeezed. You cupped his forearm and caught his weighted stare. It was like he was looking for something behind your eyes, or something there confused him, but either way he didnât mention it. Instead, he just squeezed your arm again, gave you a guilty smile, and headed back to the front of the bus.
Charlie was invested in Operation Anti-Fight Club, her words not yours. Once you explained, very briefly, what had been going on, she immediately fell into a rabbit hole online. You even had to drag her out of her hotel room to get her to the venue in time for rehearsal the next morning in preparation for the Phoenix show.Â
Somehow, she got sound and lights set up with a new venue in what felt like a flash, but was really two hours of back and forth with the band setting up cues and verifying the setlist.Â
So when she started texting you during SPSâ set that night, about your conversation with Dean, you were a little worried she was distracted again.
You didnât reply. From the moment you told her about Deanâs little heart-to-heart she had been asking leading questions and giving you knowing looks. Too worried she was either teasing you or getting your hopes up over nothing, you tried not to overthink it. Sure, Dean had broken things off with Bela with someone in mind. And it maybe, kinda, sorta seemed like he was waiting for you to do something before he left the bunkroom yesterday. But you could have been reading it all wrong.Â
It was an emotional conversation.
It didnât mean he wanted to kiss you.
Right?
Right.
Except now all you could think about was New Yearâs. And how you wished you were sober enough to really remember what Deanâs lips felt like against yours.
You had never let yourself want him, not truly. You couldnât help loving him, you were only human. But admitting to yourself that you wanted him and wanted him to want you back was a death sentence. There was no hope after that. There was not a chance Dean Winchester could be with you, or even someone like you.Â
So why were you letting yourself think about it now?
You werenât, you decided, and made small talk with Jesse instead.Â
âYou excited to get some days off at home next week?â
âYou know it. I miss ridinâ, miss sleepinâ somewhere far enough out, the city lights donât keep me up.â
You smiled and nodded, you grew up somewhere close enough to the country to know what he meant. âWell, one of these days youâll have to let us swing by. Iâd love to see your land.â
The hulking man looked so fond as he reasoned out an uncertain invitation, âwell, Matty keeps the place running while weâre on the road, so Iâll have to ask him howâs it all looking for the whole band to swing by for an afternoon. If not this trip, definitely after the tour.â
âFine! But I wonât forget you said that.â
He chuckled. âOf course you wouldnât.â
You turned back to the stage as Jodi wailed on their cover of âCrazy on Youâ. Donna was front and center giving it her all. You were once again mesmerized by their talent. Some people were just unreal, having both beauty and brains, strength and kindness. That old, familiar hollowness inched up your throat and twinged the corners of your eyes. You were surrounded by amazing people and all you could do was hover in their shadows. You were a supporting character, you could never exist at that level.
You were a fool to think you ever could.
SPS was phenomenal and they finished their set to whistles and cheers from both the fans and those of you in the wings. They beamed as they marched off stage, heading back to the dressing rooms for a breather before the main event. You cheered them on, knowing you were doing a bad job of masking the way your thoughts had plummeted. Luckily for you, Jesse was a professional and he said nothing as he ducked away to help with PTâs set up.
You rolled your eyes and punched out an annoyed âfineâ in the chat. You didnât want to think about Dean singing about somebody at that moment. What you wanted was a stiff drink and maybe a foot massage. You thought about pulling up your hotelâs amenities, but were caught off guard by Sam and Kevin bellowing your name like a pair of foghorns.
âTROUBBBBBLLLLLLEEEEEE.â
âTRRRRRRRRRRROUBLLE!â
You turned while still looking down at your phone. âUh, whatâs up?âÂ
But as you glanced up, you got silly string-ed straight to the face.Â
âMOTHER FUCKERS!â That had you spitting out air because the foamy substance had grazed your lips. Yuck! With one eye open you charged the overgrown idiots, forcing them to run behind the closest obstacles, gear cases and Benny, respectively.
Benny muttered over his shoulder to a crouching Kevin, âitâs your funeral, cher.â
âThanks, Benny,â you huffed out as you dodged around the head of security and almost had a hand on Kevinâs collar. âYou little shit!â
Kevin cackled as he ran away, too worried about busting your shit in your concert heels, you watched him go. Sam was smart enough to leave quietly amongst the fray, but you promised yourself some revenge down the line. You even knew who you could enlist for help, the last person they would ever expectâŚ

Friendship bracelets & fan-cams - The 'fangirlification' of Motorsports
Itâs no secret that motorsports and sports in general are seeing a surge in popularity. Formula One enjoyed a crowd of 1.3 million watching the Las Vegas Grand Prix, a brand new track with no history. But is this due to organic interest in the sport? Out of these 1.3 million, how many turned the race on for the first time with no expectations except to see fast cars zip through a street circuit? Or did they watch with an expectation, with the basic knowledge that can only come from consuming content on social media?Â
Shows like Drive to Survive (Formula One) and There Can Only Be One (MotoGP) have a reputation to be dramatized, fans of the shows labeled as âDTS fansâ and not true fans of the sport. This, unfortunately, is a common occurrence in many fan circles, affecting mainly women and younger fans, pushing them away from the sport. Mention your interest in Formula one or MotoGP around a certain group and expect to be quizzed on what DRS stands for or on what happened in Sepang between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez. Name a popular driver and brace yourself to be accused of liking them for their looks.
But there has been a change, not a sudden one, but a change that has been long coming.
The online fan-spaces of sports have slowly filled by more women, sharing their opinions, âlive-tweetingâ and âlive-bloggingâ their reactions. Itâs become a trend to make races an event with bracelet trading and painted shirts. This isnât anything new, Japanese fans are known to flood Suzuka with intricate hats, each bigger than the last. The Tifosi (fans of historic team Ferrari) are known to come dressed in elaborate costumes. Popes, Priests and many more religious figures flock to Imola and Monza to bless the Ferrari Drivers. You can joke that Charles Leclerc enjoys a fan-base of mostly younger women, but the dedication Italian men show to him cannot be topped.
Even the teams and the sport itself are embracing the new attention from their fan circles. Duracell, battery manufacturers and sponsors of the Williams F1 team, have jumped in head first, posting âfan-cam Fridaysâ of drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargent. Ferrari has even joined in, fans joking that the team posts âthirst trapsâ of the drivers when they don't live up to standards. MotoGP takes a more subtle route, their latest campaign âunder the skinâ an intimate look into the scars and tattoos of the riders. But the upturned eyes and soft lighting feels less than educational.
But is this a healthy path for the sport to go down? Should the sport rely on their drivers' looks and marketability to gain fans instead of pushing innovation and talent? It's a gray area at best. The days of proclaimed playboy Jenson Button prove that looks and talent can be balanced. But BrawnGP wasn't posting Jenson in an ice bath after a tough race.Â
If we are exploring the marketability of teams and its pitfalls we have to discuss Haas and Guenther Steiner. Moneygram Haas Formula One was once a pool of potential, the only American team on the grid. Haas could have been the envy of the grid, pride of the American fans. But Haas sits comfortably towards the back of the grid, known for Lego brick cars, the phoenix called Romain Grosjean and their Ex-team principal Guenther Steiner. Driver to Survive captured Guenther as a character in the paddock, with his colourful language and quotable sentences. Newer fans were swayed by his portrayal and then ultimately disappointed when their underdog lost to the dominant Max.Â
In the end, none of it matters. The sport is ever evolving and will always be evolving. The beloved Halo, saviour of many, was once seen as a curse. Only time will tell if the âfangirlificationâ will bring the sport down or uplift it. It's not about the race to create the perfect sport, but more about the history and community built from it.
Yes Max Verstappen may be dominating the grid, but off-grid the real winners are the fans, watching history be made, and even be part of it.

The Victorium Awaits
Well, took me a little longer than I'd anticipated, but if you're still up for some IEYTD RP fun (on Discord), here's your sign. :D
Backstory
You work for the Enhanced Operatives Division of the Secret Agency Group. A mysterious invitation has come through the intraoffice mail and landed on your desk: you've been selected to participate in the Agency's Advanced Certificate Education (ACE) program, a special training camp for the best of the best. They want to send you and your handler to the Victorium, an automated facility, where you'll work together with other agent-handler pairs to conquer challenges designed to test your wits, your mettle, and your telekinetic skills. Are you up for the challenge?
Details
This is a low-stat, longform written game. There are no official meeting times. Each player will control two characters simultaneously: one agent and one handler. You can play a canon character, bring your OCs, or make fresh characters just for this game (no worries). The only participation expectations are that you'll check in once roughly every 24 hours or so and respond if your characters are in action. Please see the laws/rules in the server for more details.
Everyone's welcome, even if you're not playing. :3 Setup is still in progress, but I think we'll be ready to kick off the game within a few days.
Pings! (apologies if you didn't want to be pinged, I felt bad leaving people out)

Ham Radio & More was a radio show about amateur radio that was broadcast from 1991 through 1997. More than 300 episodes of the program are now available online as part of the Digital Library of Amateur Radio & Communications (DLARC).
Ham Radio & More was the first radio show devoted to ham radio on the commercial radio band. It began as a one-hour show on KFNN 1510 AM in Phoenix, Arizona, then expanded to a two-hour format and national syndication. The programâs host, Len Winkler, invited guests to discuss the issues of the day and educate listeners about various aspects of the radio hobby. Today the episodes, some more than 30 years old, provide an invaluable time capsule of the ham radio hobby.just some of the HR&M cassette tapes
Len Winkler said, âIâm so happy that the Digital Library of Amateur Radio & Communications took all my old shows and made them eternally available for everyone to hear and enjoy. I had the absolute pleasure, along with a few super knowledgeable co-hosts, to interview many of the people that made ham radio great in the past and now everyone can go back and listen to what they had to say. From the early beginnings of SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) to Senator Barry Goldwater to the daughter of Marconi. So much thanks to the Digital Library of Amateur Radio & Communications for doing this amazing service.â
Other interviewees included magazine publisher Wayne Green, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Bob Heil, Bill Pasternak, Fred Maia, and other names well known to the amateur radio community. Discussion topics spanned the technical, such as signal propagation, to community issues, including the debate over the Morse code knowledge requirement for ham radio operatorsâa requirement eventually dropped, to the benefit of the community.
The radio programs were recorded on cassette tapes when they originally aired. Winkler digitized 149 episodes of the show himself in 2015 and 2016. The digitizing project paused for years. In January 2024 he sent the remaining cassettes to DLARC. Using two audio digitizing workstations, we digitized another 165 episodes in about three weeks. The combined collection is now available online: a total of 464 hours of programming, most of which have not been heard since their original air date. The collection represents nearly every episode of the show: only a few tapes went missing over the years or were unrepairable.Â
The Digital Library of Amateur Radio & Communications is funded by a grant from Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC) to create a free digital library for the radio community, researchers, educators, and students. DLARC invites radio clubs and individuals to submit material in any format. To contribute or ask questions about the project, contact: Kay Savetz at [email protected] or on Mastodon at [email protected].

20 Questions for Fic Writers
tagged by @samioli ! (late getting to it, happy holidays!)
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
44... so far :)) (not-so-secret: i actually have a second pseud for one-shots in very small, random fandoms, but i don't use it often.)
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
ah hah. 682,262. i didn't really publish much before the pandemic, but then suddenly all i ever wanted to do was write, and i found such a community online in different fandoms that i haven't really stopped since!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I've published (written is a different story, haha) fic for a few fandoms: namely ace attorney, different sherlock holmes properties, witcher, dragon age, good omens (before the show), and most recently, metal gear!
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
a badge of honor [ace attorney]
plumeria (new beginnings) [enola holmes]
pressure (pushing down on me) [ace attorney]
your heart is cold (but we will warm you) [the hobbit - the first Real Fic i ever published, when i was a kid]
if i woke up (next to you) [ace attorney]
flattering but not surprising that ace attorney is near the top, as far as kudoses go; i joined this fandom in 2020 and it's just EXPLODED since then. it's so cool getting into an older game series and being able to connect with a thriving online community <3
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I absolutely do! I miss one here and there, on occasion, but i try to say thanks as often as i can. i often return to the comment sections of my more popular fics on rough days when i'm convinced i'm the worst writer in existence kasd;jfalskfjf
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
hm... while i tend to avoid endings that leave readers in pieces, i do enjoy some angst now and then. i wrote a one-shot about john watson reacting to holmes's death in OG sherlock holmes titled 'when good men go to war' that definitely deserved the 'major character death' tag, even if it's one of the most famous fake-out deaths in literature LMAO. i've also written canon compliant lanamia, which just hurts. and a miles edgeworth christmas fic, which is self-explanatory. i also wrote a fic for the animated film Klaus a while back that made me cry writing it, which i don't often do HAHA
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
hmm. 'if i woke up (next to you)' is the epitome of cheesy fix-it for narumitsu, but i think the end of 'pressure (pushing down on me)' was written at a time, for me, when i most desperately wanted to read about a happy ending-- the whole series is a fix-it, but pressure in particular dismantled phoenix's disbarment and brought back characters i missed/wanted more of in a way that was utterly self-indulgent, so for me, that's probably the happiest ending i've ever written. :)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, thankfully. but i've gotten enough of unsolicited crit type comments to piss me off eternally-- though i've gotten better at deleting the ones that hurt rather than engaging. (I stopped writing a witcher fic i really liked because i got a comment that a chapter was boring, and it totally shattered me :///)
9. Do you write smut?
Sure! I have been known to enjoy and write explicit fics. I have an academic interest in sex and education about it, and I think some of the best character study fics in the entire universe are explicit. i also think the saddest fics i've ever read have also included explicit scenes, too.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I have! I love a good, clever crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. (knocks on wood)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, several!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Most recently (published, that is), for pacific rim.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
OOF. well. i have several, of course. i'll always be attached to classic sherlock holmes x john watson. for fandoms i fell into recently, the bangers are narumitsu, taibani (tiger&bunny, aka narumitsu lite), and newly, otasune (metal gear solid) is THE Moment. the MOMENT, damn it, PLAY METAL GEAR SOLID. and then DM me @solid-snaked because i want to TALK TO YOU ABOUT IT.
some more well-known ships i haven't published fic for over the years but still love: leopika (hxh), kakairu (naruto... YEAH. NARUTO.), kaishin (dmck), and superbat (dc). also, i tend to really gravitate towards platonic/gen fic for different fandoms as well, almost if not more strongly than shipfic.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
ooooh. toss up between 'call me through thunder' (dragon age), because honestly while i loved writing it, i liked the original writing ideas that came from it more than the actual fic elements and 'when the way is dark' (witcher), because of reasons listed above.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i would like to say my dialogue?? i suppose? i really like writing dialogue and specifically, the framing around dialogue-- i like writing body language and trying to describe facial expressions and tone shifts so that people can hear and see the scene i'm trying to write.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
ahh, i'm definitely guilty of writing intimate/emotional scenes at the cost of pacing, and of favoring tone accomplished by dialogue rather than immersion via setting (i'm bad at like. window dressing and connective tissue between scenes, i think)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
beyond my skillset, I'm afraid
19. First fandom you wrote for?
supernatural. mmhmm. i was a high school sam girlie. the first fic i ever read, also, was supernatural. destiel at age 13. life-ruiner. but i recovered.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
aaaa. overall, i'd say 'pressure' is a fic i'm quite proud of but it's the series overall that makes it my favorite as a writing and a community experience, one that got me through a really tough time in life. however, as far as my writing skill goes, i'm pretty proud of a fic i wrote on a time crunch for Holmestice, a sherlock holmes exchange, called 'the emerald circle', because i got to reference queer history in a way i really enjoyed while writing it.
feel free to pass along this prompt to yourself, fellow writers <3

ăďźďź¨ďźďźďźĽďźďźďź¸ďźă
YOUR STORY BEGINS IN A TWO-BEDROOM MANHATTAN APARTMENT. Youâve carefully divided the room between you and your sister Phaedra, even providing exact measurements to ensure the space was allocated equally. You have just enough space to fit your twin bed and computer desk, something you declare necessary when youâre gifted your first P.C. at the age of nine. Itâs all youâd really wanted for your birthday. Where your older sister would eventually flourish in the field of psychology, youâd always been drawn to technology, especially computers. The vastness of the internet draws you in. At first, you use it solely for entertainment purposes. Computer games, funny videos, chatting with your friendsâ you utilize the computer like other children your age do.
Eventually, your attention is carried in different directions. No longer is it purely an entertainment deviceâ you want to understand every aspect, down to the technology that makes its existence possible. You take it upon yourself to take it apart, to your parents' dismay and put it back together long before they can drum up a suitable punishment. You even managed to include a few enhancements. Your parents no longer questioned you regarding computersâ they knew your intentions were only purposeful regarding technology. When you grow weary of learning the device inside out, your interest is shifted to what a computer could do for you. You learn that technology has a language of its ownâ and spend much of your adolescence and young adulthood learning inside and out.
Your first brush with hacking occurs when a friend is bullied at school. One of your friends is being mercilessly bullied online by an anonymous user and someone suspected to be one of your classmates. You knew enough about phishing attacks to orchestrate one of your own, and before long, the bully takes the bait, allowing you access to the bullyâs I.P. address and account information. You pass on the information to your friend, letting her decide what action should be taken against the bully. After helping your friend, you are enthralled by the idea of achieving vigilante justice through cyber attacks. Your skills donât go beyond that of any other script kiddie new on the scene. Still, by the time youâre entering your computer engineering bachelorâs program as an undergrad, you know enough about hacking to carry out minor ransomware and malware attacks.Â
Your progress with hacking progresses alongside your degree. As your skills increase, so do the stakes of your attacks. You primarily work solo, eventually working under the pseudonym Hex. The only evidence of your existence exists in the signature hidden in the programming of your various attacks. Your targets range from high-ranking politicians to multimillion-dollar companies and their high-ranking employees. While Hex manages to amass an online following, your true identity remains hidden, even after you graduate and begin working within your field. Numerous bounties exist for even a sliver of your information, but you continue to evade capture. Ironically enough, youâd spend nearly ten years in the field of ethical hacking, using your abilities to ensure companies could prevent cyberattacks from people like you.Â
Despite the excellent pay, you grow weary of working in this field. It never thoroughly thrills you, but eventually, what little thrill it does give you disappears entirely. Something else you incorporated as you got deeper into the world of hacking is an untraceable website that allowed anonymous users to submit tips for potential targets for Hex to look into. You receive a string of fascinating leads, all of which appear to occur in New York. And soâ you decide to move to the city, accepting a job as a junior coder at STONGEAGE as a cover as you begin your trek into New Yorkâs virtual webs. Like a virtual Dante, you venture lower and lower into New Yorkâs digital underworld. You understand that the further you descend, the higher the bounty youâre putting on your head becomesâ better yet, Hexâs head. With a hidden smile, you continue your descentâ unwavering in your efforts to purge the city of its varying pockets of corruption.
â FUN FACTS .
Phoenixâs been in New York City for a year now. Before that, she was settled in New Orleans. Sheâs visited the city numerous times and even had extended stays, but this is her first time living in the city permanently.Â
Loves dressing in black and red, with layered gold and silver chains, belts, rings, necklaces, earrings, and beyond. Is particularly drawn to things with spikes and large crosses (though sheâs been an atheist since her childhood.) Loves heeled boots, vinyl, lace, and velvet. Spices up her work outfits similarly (through makeup and accessories.) Witchy and/or vampire-esque vibes. (Very Dolls Kill-esque... idk fashion words y'all)
Has a half-bombay black cat (allegedly, according to a rumor started by Phoenix herself) named Charon. He wandered into her window one day in New Orleans, declaring her apartment his new residence. She adopted another black cat named Edgar Allan Poe from a nearby shelter for them to keep each other company.Â
Phoenix is rather outgoing, notorious for being chatty, yet revealing nothing personal about her in her interactions. She spends a lot of time out, engrossing herself in the cityâs nightlife partly for information-gathering purposes, partially to keep herself occupied when sheâs not at Stoneage, performing Hexâs duties, or engrossing herself in her other hobbies. Lighthearted, provocative, and frequently flirtatious, Phoenix lives for those fleeting interactions.Â
â ; TLDR Seasoned hacker settles in New York City with the intention to extort/expose New York Cityâs most corrupt parties. Sheâs not chooseyâ sheâs been looking into the various Mobs, Government, and Red Eyes (She admires the Executioners' work (; ). Her hacker persona, Hex, is rather popular in the virtual space, but to the general public, theyâre just a civilian junior coder working at Stongeage Inc.Â
â ; CONNECTIONS
Potential marks. What is a hacker without the people to launch virtual attacks on? Open to anyone in any of the mobs, red eyes, and members of the government. The severity of the attack, success of the attack, and time is something we could plot individually, but for the most part, Iâll leave it up to your discretion (though I can definitely make suggestions for potential attacks!)Â
Someone suspicious of them. Somethingâs off about Phoenix, and your character canât quite put their finger on why! If she managed to stumble across this knowledge, sheâd definitely try to make a game of it. A bit of a cat-and-mouse game, perhaps?Â
Friends/Enemies/Acquaintances/Hookups. People theyâve met while visiting New York over the years, or people theyâve met after settling there. Iâm open to an assortment of dynamics!Â
TBD

Ideas for a FNAF story I had
Idk if I'll do anything with this it's just me rambling tbh
đť fazbear entertainment outsources the production of animatronics to another company other than Afton Robotics, Phoenix automation for a new experimental educational location.
đ¤ Specifically they commission a marionette, Sun & moon, and some new characters; miss butterfly and her bookworms (there's four of those guys)
âď¸ Phoenix automation has a very different design style. The robots are more spindly and tall, as well as having screens for faces. Notably though these animatronics have access to an online criminal database similar to the FNAF 2 bots via the Internet.
đž unfortunately there's some significant weaknesses in them, and a murderer, not Afton or Vanny, but a copycat killer (maybe based on 'pink guy') hacks them and uses them to lure kids and attack adults who are potential witnesses.
𤥠Charlie sees this from the afterlife and goes "hell naw" and comes back⢠and possesses the new marionette robot to do something about this. Unfortunately for the new night gaurd, she still doesn't like adults.
âď¸ Sun and Moon are both dangerous, and are more in tune with each other. Sun does the manipulation, Moon does the violence.
đŚ miss butterfly is very, VERY aggressive and violent. She would get along with Funtime Freddy. However, she likes playing with her prey and will prolong the chase as long as possible.
đ the bookworms are a bunch of little shits. They like constricting people.
đłď¸ at some point the night gaurd kicks butterfly down an elevator shaft but she comes limping back, barely functional but determined to finish them off.

New OC Drop.
4 witch young adults going to UMA (Unity of Magic Academy). All four disabled in some way which makes their education and magic experience harder. Each of them use magic and creativity to find a work around that actually makes them more unique and powerful than other witches. `
ZephyrGaze - She/Her. Paralyzed from the waist down as a kid. She always dreamed of flying on broomsticks as a kid and was heartbroken when that was no longer an option. She studied hard at item enchantment, sigils, glyphs, and animation magic to enchant her wheelchair so it can fly as easy as a broomstick. She's now working on getting onto a sports team after school. For extra money she sells glyphs and sigils online.
EmberWing - She/Her. ADHD. Always struggles in classes that require reading and writing things she isn't interested in or, worst of all, history. However, she's very gifted in actually performing magic and spells, able to cast magic those her age usually can't do yet. As her family crest is the phoenix, she decided to learn how to give herself wings of fire which she now uses regularly whenever she gets the chance. She's not one for doing things the traditional way. She kept forgetting her wand so she worked with her dad to design magical wooden wrist braces that work as wands. Due to her ADHD and thus her greater affinity for multitasking, she's in the only witch who can cast two spells at once. She wears one wrist brace (wand) for each hand, so she can cast one spell per hand. She's in a very close romantic relationship with Frostheart.
FrostHeart - They/Them. Autistic. Has a natural talent for ice magic. Partially nonverbal. They only talk around people they're really comfortable around and only in private. Magic requires vocalizations to work, at least until FrostHeart discovered a way to produce silent magic: Magic that doesn't need sound, nor produce sound or smell when activated. FrostHeart is sensitive to sounds, smells, and textures. They have a wrap around part of their wand that has a consistent soft texture so they can rub their wand when overwhelmed. They're in a very close romantic relationship with EmberWing. They're highly empathetic and kind and like to show their affection by giving handmade gifts such as origami or miniature snow sculptures.
ThornDream - She/Her. A goth girl with an unknown condition that's causing her tremors, chronic pain, and a lack of balance. She has a natural affinity for plants so instead of a traditional wand, she sculpted a branch into a magical cane that can cast magic like a wand but also works as a mobility aid. She's very well-studied in just about every class she takes as well as other things that peak her interest. She's has a lot of knowledge on medicinal plants and can grow just about any of them whenever she may need to help herself or a friend. She also grows a bit of cannabis from time to time to let loose a little.

MWII Cosplay Guides - Los Vaqueros
A two-for-one guide tonight, as both these characters only have one visually distinct loadout each (I won't count the suit-and-tie for one of them as that doesn't need a guide).
I present to you our beloved operators from the Mexican Special Forces: Colonel Alejandro Vargas and Sergeant Major Rudolfo Parra.
Previous guides can be found below: Sgt Johnny 'Soap' Mactavish Lt Simon 'Ghost' Riley Soap and Ghost's Helmets Side Guide
A reminder that some of what you may see may not be commercially available as it either might be government sales only, or not physically exist in that colour/pattern.

MWII Cosplay Guides - Helmets
Just a quick side-guide of sorts, as I didn't include these with the relevant main guides, but here are the helmets worn by Ghost and Soap during the opening mission we are introduced to them in.
Both are mostly the same, but with small differences. The relevant guides for Soap and Ghost can be found by clicking on their names.
Anywho, here are their helmets!
Future side-guides will probably focus on common details or smaller, less significant features like headwear or additional one-off accessories.
And please share this (and past and future) post around, so as many people can see it as possible. I want to share and spread this knowledge with as many as possible!

So Iâve done some digging into the different characters introduced in TG: Maverick, specifically with their home squadrons.
Iâve done the best I can to look at production stills and freeze-frames from trailers and behind the scenes material, and this is what Iâve been able to identify.
Pre-note: this is done more to educate and assist cosplayers in obtaining the right patches than to criticise the movie and costume department. Iâm also noting down real-world assignments and the aircraft they use.
Lt Bradley âRoosterâ Bradshaw - VFA-87 âGolden Warriorsâ
F/A-18E Super Hornet
Air Wing 8 aboard the USS Gerald R Ford.

MWII Cosplay Guides - John "Soap" Mactavish
So, I have access to the character models from MWII (don't ask me how or where, you can find that stuff yourselves), and I have been pouring over the models and studying them for what gear each character uses.
I have a fair number of online friends who are artists and/or writers, and many a time I have been consulted on pieces of equipment and uniform/clothing worn by different characters in different scenarios.
I'm also a budding cosplayer, and I wanted to see what I'd need to buy in order to properly replicate different pieces of equipment.
So, I'm put together a cosplay guide/gear breakdown for different characters in their various appearances throughout MWII. This will be for SINGPLEPLAYER ONLY, as I'll be fucked trying to go other every MP operator's kit with each seasonal update.
Anyway, without further ado, here are the three I've made for our much beloved Sergeant! A point of note, both "Interdiction" and "Nightwar" are physically the same model, just alternate colour schemes. Another point I'll raise here, and will be reoccuring in future breakdowns, is that the texture artists have likely taken liberty with asset colours, as IRL some of these pieces actually may not exist physically at all in given colours or patterns, or at the very least, not for public retail/sales.

My #1 post of 2022
MWII Cosplay Guides - Simon "Ghost" Riley
Part two in a series I'm now undertaking in providing the fandom with reference resources for artists and cosplayers alike. The first post, for Sgt John "Soap" Mactavish, can be found here in case you missed it.
Ghost also has three 'core' loadouts seen in the campaign, all visually distinct in terms of clothing and equipment. A reminder that some of what you may see may not be commercially available as it either might be government sales only, or not physically exist in that colour/pattern.
