The slate for the planned canon rewrite, expansion and in-depth exploration of the ENTIRE Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This includes links to all the projects I've worked on thus far related to the MCU rewrite, as well as lists of what I'm planning on writing next (although, please note that this is always subject to change). And this goes beyond what already exists, as I plan to make high quality novel-length and novella-length fics diving into every corner I can of this big, beautiful universe — that are NOT always based on the movies.

The first and second phases are the only ones where the fics in them have additional descriptions. The other phases have only their titles revealed. (See the series description for a rundown of all the major characters that will appear throughout these fics.)

1. All works that currently exist have links to them. If it does not have a link, I have not started writing it — and despite the order that everything is in, I might be skipping some works and circling back to them later for various reasons (mainly when it makes sense, I’m not going to write an Avengers fic until everything else beforehand is done).

2. This is the recommended order, but — unless it's specified — you can probably read any of them without spoiling any other work. There may be references or easter eggs, but unless it's substantial I will not list something as 'required reading' for another fic: start wherever YOU want.

3. If the work isn't bolded, it will most likely end up being the length of a novella (10-20k words). If it is in UPPERCASE, I expect it to be very, very VERY long. This is just an estimate however, and I just don’t know how far these things will go until I start writing it.

4. Lastly, EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Tony Stark grapples with both the military and rising competition in weapons production, while being unable to find a solution to keep his heart from killing him. Part 2 of the Iron Man series. COMPLETE (preview)

Widowmaker

Clint Barton is sent by SHIELD to kill the elusive ‘Black Widow’, but pressing circumstances form an alliance between them that will change the trajectory of their lives. Part 1 of the Black Widow duology. A novella (~10 chapters). COMPLETE

Thor

Thor is forced to live without power when he causes a war between realms, by being sent to Earth where he will have to learn how to be worthy of Mjølnir. Part 1 of the Thor series. WIP

Captain America: The First Avenger

Steve Rogers enlists to become the first supersoldier to defend war-torn America from the Nazis, which leads him and the Howling Commandos to battle HYDRA in the quest for peace. Part 1 of the Captain America series.

THE AVENGERS

When Loki arrives on Earth with the intention to rule, Nick Fury of SHIELD has to finally assemble his team of heroes to protect the world against this intergalactic threat. Part 1 of the AVENGERS series. An epic (~50+ chapters).

An alliance is formed between Rocket and Groot, as they break out of prison and establish roots in the vast, intergalactic Hub. Prequel to the Guardians of the Galaxy series.

Black Panther: T'Chaka

The King of Wakanda raises his children in the great Afrofuturistic nation, while attempting to maintain secrecy of their existence under the continued exploits of arms dealer Ulysses Klaue. Part 1 of the Black Panther/Wakanda series.

The Brotherhood

Due to increasing dissatisfaction within Sokovia, two twins decide to join HYDRA and participate in experiments that will fully reshape the fabric of their own reality. A novella.

You may have also noted that neither of the Defenders series, Agents of SHIELD or Agent Carter (the ABC series) are present in any capacity. I have no intention to bring them in as I have never watched them and I don't know enough about them to include them. I am considering bringing in a character from AoS, but if it happens their role is very likely to be minor. I posit an idea of bringing these particular franchises in at some point... but this is very unlikely to happen.

Adventures always start with kids like that. Bucky was the boy who took too long to start the process of growing up and then grew up all in one night. Steve was the boy who grew up much too quickly to have been a boy in the first place. This story might sound like it’s about just one of these boys, but that’s not really true. It’s not really about either of them, because to say that it’s about one of them would be disingenuous. Candidly, this story is about what they grew up to be.

With an IV tube flowing into his arm and sending cold liquid into his body, Phil was reminded, finally, of what it felt like to be properly alive. The cure was doing quick work on his body and he was already starting to feel better, but had been ordered to get bed rest for the next couple of weeks. He’d only stopped dying yesterday, after all.

Melinda had finally stopped to see him after he’d agreed to this new Wakandan cure. Seeing the fear in her eyes, he wanted to - well. He wasn’t sure what he wanted right now. He wanted everything and nothing with her, because he wanted to be her everything but if she meant nothing to him then it would have been easier to deal with all of their problems. “You’re right. But I’m okay now.” He said, hardly believing it even as he said it, surprising even himself. “I’m sorry for scaring you.” He added softly, looking at the bag in her hand. “Going somewhere?”

There was a cure --- and that should have made everything better. Should have put her heart at ease, but instead, she found that his healing only brought more pain. Caused the vines around her heart to tighten. Melinda was glad that there was a cure, glad that he’d make it, but screaming that she loved him was still fresh on her mind -- and the silence that had followed it? Maybe he was going to be fine, but Melinda wasn’t sure if they would be. She had crossed a line that she couldn't take back, and seeing him now, with the IV in his arm and those three words still hanging between them? But she focused on the good. He was healing. Their relationship -- their friendship, whatever was happening... that could wait. (Or likely be pushed off until they both pretended it never happened.) 

“Are you, really?” Melinda questioned, her gaze drifting to the IV that hung at the side of his bed. It felt too good to be true. Nothing in their lives had ever been this simple, and Melinda was nervous to embrace it so quickly. Melinda scoffed, or at least, tried to. It was a hard sell when she was feeling sick to her stomach. “Won’t be the last time, I’m sure.” Melinda glanced at the bag in her hand before leaning against the wall next to the door. “New mission. It’s an undercover mission, long-term infiltration,” Melinda explained, though she left the part out where she volunteered to go.

Your whole body felt so heavy.

Everything hurt and even with your soft breathing, it was as if all the muscles in your body were screaming at you to stop. Sounds of people cheering were heard but you tried to tune it out, your brain barely able to comprehend why your body hurt so much.

After telling yourself to try to at least open your eyes, you did, and it was so bright. Your eyes fluttered closed once more as you groaned at the light, trying to adjust. Listening to the sound once more, you heard a specific tune – Harry James’ Maria Elena – play on a radio.

You groaned, opening your eyes again as the song continued, hearing Harry’s voice, “Maria Elena, you’re the answer to a prayer…”

God, James loved this song.

Becoming used to the light, you tensed your toes, your legs, your arms, all the way up to your teeth, then untensing. It felt weird, being alive. Wait…were you alive? Maybe?

Before you decided to lay in your cot any longer, you sat up, glancing at your clothes – a plain, white t-shirt with an Eagle in the middle, along with some nice fitting tan pants and some shoes. ‘Odd,’ you thought to yourself, ‘definitely don’t remember changing clothes.’

The room you laid in was relatively plain, nothing was out of the ordinary as Maria Elena continued to play on repeat. “Okay,” you said aloud, “that’s a bit weird.”

With a grumble, you placed your feet on the ground as you held your head in your hands, “ugh, Steve, where the hell are you? ‘Could really use one of Howard’s hangover cures.”

Before you could talk any more nonsense to yourself, the door opened, revealing a beautiful young woman dressed in a nurse’s outfit, “good morning.” She took a quick glance at her watch, “or should I say afternoon.

You eyed her suspiciously as one of your favorite songs quickly grew to be very annoying, “where am I? Where is Steve?”

She seemed a bit nervous as she answered you, “you’re in a recovery room in New York City. Captain Rogers is right beside you, the next room over. He has been informed that you’ve woken up.”

Harry James’ “All or Nothing At All” came on the radio and you felt the urge to roll your eyes, “where am I really?”

The woman chuckled, “I’m afraid I don’t understand.”

Your eyes narrowed, “the songs. Listen, any person with a stable head on their shoulders loves Harry James, but there is no way in hell Blue Ribbon Town is playin’ his songs all the damn time. Now, where am I – and tell Steve I want him here.”

The ‘nurse’ – well, you didn’t know if you could call her that cause you seemingly caught her bluff – grew worried as you stood up, the bed creaking below you, “just tell me where I am and where Steve is and I’ll-“

You stilled for a moment, recognizing the sounds of two people arguing, and of course, Steve’s voice. He sounded agitated and on edge, but at least you knew he was safe. Now, you just wanted to get the hell out of here. The woman, nurse, whoever she was, grabbed a walkie-talkie and began talking into it, but you paid no mind to her.

The door opened behind her, revealing a man, you guessed an Agent, in a suit, “who the hell are you? I want to get out of this room.”

The man held out his hands, “Agent Y/N, my name is Phil Coulson, we work with S.H.I.E.L.D. There’s no need to stress, you are alright and safe.”

You squinted your eyes at him, “well, Agent Coulson, I’m sure you can tell why I am even remotely hesitant to trust you, so with all due respect, I’m breaking out of here.”

And with that, you sprinted towards the wall opposite you, ramming shoulder first and knocking it down, revealing bright lights and metal flooring – almost like they were keeping something on the inside.

An alarm sounded above you as you stopped in a hallway, people looking at your figure before gasping. “All agents, code 13” echoed above you as you dragged yourself along, unable to take a second and look. You cursed Steve for leaving you alone, for not hearing you fighting with that woman and Coulson guy. Shoving some men down onto the floor, you continued to run until you pushed open the doors, the outside becoming cold very quickly.

You spun in a circle, trying to take in everything around you as you ran into oncoming traffic, the sounds of horns blaring causing more confusion than anything. Running seemed to be the only thing you knew how to do, the rain drizzling down upon you, doing nothing to slow your speed. The more you ran, the more you realized how unfamiliar everything looked. Neon signs, tall buildings, cars you’ve never seen before – if that woman was telling the truth, when the hell did everything change?

You slowed to a stop, huge moving-picture signs changed above you and the unfamiliarity was daunting. You needed someone’s hand to grab, to hold onto something, so you reached towards your chest, holding tightly onto Bucky’s dog tags.

Black cars pulled in front of you and from behind you, a tall, sort-of menacing man stood before you, “at ease, Agent.”

Your eyebrows furrowed as Steve stepped out of the backseat of the car, looking uneasy; the man continued, hands at the side of his black trench coat and eyepatch adding more questions as to who this man was, “look, I’m sorry about that little show back there, but…we thought it best to break it to you slowly.”

Your grip on Bucky’s dog tags tightened as your breathing quickened, “Steve? Break what?”

The somewhat terrifying man took a breath, “you’ve been asleep, L/N. For almost 70 years – same with your friend Captain here.”

Your heart ached and it hurt to breathe all of a sudden. Tears welled up in your eyes as you tried to steady your breathing, looking around at everything around you. Steve stepped forward, hands quickly grabbing yours even as you tried to move away, “honeybee, I know it’s a lot to take in but you gotta breathe. You got this, you got this…”

You nodded, trying to listen as ringing took over your ears.

Steve turned, trying to catch his breath as the man in front of you looked to you both, “you going to be okay?”

Steve nodded, “she’ll be okay, she’s fine.

The man looked to you, “Miss L/N?”

You tried to steady your breathing, “I need…where is…”

The man held out his hands, “we’ll answer all of your questions, starting with who I am – my name is Director Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. We’ve been taking care of you both since your discovery and anything you need, you let us know. Now, can we get you situated?”

Steve continued to look confused as you glared at Fury, “how do I know I can trust you?”

Fury gestured to the world surrounding you, “you see anyone else trying to make friends, Miss L/N?”

You grumbled, “y/n is fine, really…Cap, what’s going on?”

Steve gripped your hands, “you can trust him, y/n, I promise. He’ll make sense of everything, he’s a good guy.”

With a glare, you looked towards the Director, “where…where would I be headed with you?”

Nick Fury leaned back on the balls of his feet, “Washington D.C, Triskelion, S.H.I.E.L.D, HQ, specifically.”

With a glance to Steve, you knew that broken look too well – a place to rest, to fully digest this news, would be nice. It seems he has somewhat fit in with this new world that you now have to adjust to. You turned to Fury, “I’ll go with you. But will I be staying there permanently?”

Fury shrugged, “you are in charge of your own life. Once we get you settled, you’re free to do what you wish.”

Steve nodded towards you as he recognized your hesitance – you can trust Nick Fury. You’ll be in charge of your own life once you become accustomed to this new world.

The trip to Washington D.C. was not too troublesome, but coming to terms with what era you were living in sure was. You and Steve were silent the entire ride, making sense of what had happened during your final mission. Once you arrived, Nick Fury had no qualms about telling you what had happened; you had completed the mission, saving millions of lives, and you had won the war.

But it just did not feel right.

You knew why; you shouldn’t be here. At this point, you and Bucky, your Jamie, should be in your late 80s, kids, and grandkids living their lives to the fullest. Yet here you were, living in an unknown world without your James, and the worst part – you had no idea if his body was recovered, if he had a funeral, if Becca had something for him.

That was what the first few months of your new life consisted of: doing research on these high-tech computers about Bucky, Rebecca, catching up on the history you missed out on. Unconsciously, you found yourself researching ‘Colonel Chester Phillips’ and found that your broody Colonel lived the rest of his life to the fullest, becoming one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D. – you just knew that man was meant for greatness. Next, ‘Howard Stark’ added to your search and your heart ached.

Howard, your Howie Stark, was murdered.

They had known it was murder, or some kind of setup, once the feds realized much of his equipment was stolen from his car. Howard and his beautiful wife Maria were murdered.

You cried that night.

The next day, you brought yourself to visit Colonel Phillips’ grave and laid a bouquet of flowers on his grave; you knew he’d call you ridiculous, that he didn’t need any flowers, but you did it anyway. Shockingly, Howard and Maria’s gravesite weren’t too far and you had laid flowers on their graves as well.

Steve hadn’t joined you.

You weren’t upset with him, no, just…you weren’t sure. You wished he came along, but he figured giving you space was what you needed when in reality, you needed him – you needed your Steve Rogers from Brooklyn. At least when you two went down, Peggy was still alive; your James wasn’t. A part of you hated Steve for that, but it also grieved with him.

Nothing more was done of your research on Jamie; you’d seen the same thing about him over and over, yet you knew all that was said. However, you loved seeing moving pictures of him and Steve, ones you hadn’t seen before that day. He was just as beautiful as the day he left you for war. His smile made your heart race and his nose scrunch, his eyes squinting during his smile…he was breathtaking.

Reaching below the collar of your shirt, you grasped the dog tags around your neck, thankful S.H.I.E.L.D. hadn’t taken them off. Laying a kiss on them, you let them go, hitting your chest before your fingers met the keyboard: “Grover, Newspaper vendor, Brooklyn.”

That man had continued selling newspapers until his final years and right away, you saw an article titled, “LOCAL NEWS VENDOR SHARES PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH CAPTAIN AMERICA’S PARTNER, Y/N L/N, AFTER LOSS OF CONTACT.” Of course, that old man had to talk about you.

Reading the article, you realized this was right after Steve and you crashed; you felt Grover’s grief and pain through his words. “That kid was a pain in my side, but y/n l/n is – was, one of the lights in my life. She was like the daughter I’ve always wanted an’ while I wish she coulda stayed here, she always told me she needed ta’ do somethin’ with her life,” Grover had said, the author keeping his Brooklyn accent. “Her relationship with James Barnes meant so much to that girl and if there was any way she’d avenge his death, she’d be doin’ it, and I know she did,” he said, “and even though I gotta live the rest of my life without that girl, I know I couldn’t have kept her from doin’ what she thought was best. I love her and…I’ll miss her.”

Visiting his grave was the most emotionally draining day since you’ve been back.

Lol, Zola was developing exo-skeleton looking like Iron Man suit and Vanko's suit in 1934. I kind of think part of Steve's dislike of Iron Man was because of that exo-suit. Also, Steve just saved the guy in a suit.

"The chain is only as strong as its weakest link" said twice to Steve, once by military doctor and second by Schmidt.

Poor Erskine, his family was taken as hostages.

Howards says "carefully open the casing". Steve does smash instead.

Oh no, Red Skull said that weapon can always be taken from you so you have to become the weapon. It echoes the sentiment behind the creation of Iron Man too closely.

Oho my theory that Erskine heard Bucky talk to Steve and that doctor knew Steve lied is proved in this comics. They knew, they had a file on him and Erskine just picked him, saving his stupid ass from consequences.

IRON MAN 2:

In the comics it looks more as if Obadiah sold Vanko instead of Howard, because Howard looks so surprised at what Vanko did, that it is impossible to assume that he was the one who sent the agents after Vanko. He looks surprised at the whole incident, Vanko betraying him and agents being there to apprehend him. One agent acts as if it was Howard's idea all along, but that line could be also read as just informing a bystander that they will deal with the issue instead.

Tony projected a drone which could clean whole desert full of mines with 100% accuracy and 0% detonation.

Also comics confirm that Tony cannot even have 12h break without Howard coming at him and demanding him to work when he is just a goddamn teenager.

Tony was just fighting for 19h, got a shower and has to go out again.

"If I hear of another innocent being put in a harm's way just to advance some pointless military agenda... there will be consequences" sounds like call back to Hulk.

Philindaisy AU plot ideas!

Here are some Philindaisy Alternate Universe plot ideas I’m giving up for adoption. If any of you want to write them, please just credit me for the idea. These are free to do with them as you wish. No strings attached. Here you go:

Zombie Apocalypse AU:      Zombie Apocalypses are supposed to be something only in Hollywood, until Fitzsimmons’ lab is attacked and Hydra releases an Alien Virus collected from the Kree. People on base go insane, First muttering about their “calling” before going on a rampage for uninfected human flesh. Coulson and May are on a time crunch to help Fitzsimmons create a cure, while Daisy discovers that all inhumans are immune. Desperate to Get Daisy back safely, Coulson and May head out to bring her back, fighting through those who were former colleagues.      When the virus takes hold of Phil, suddenly everything gets worse as Melinda has to wrangle him back to safety, along with an unconscious Daisy…

Pirate AU:    While on a raid, Pirate Captain Melinda May stumbles across Tavern Cook Phil Coulson. She spares him, (mostly because he was shirtless and easy on the eyes), and forces him along to work in the galley of her ship. Very quickly, Melinda falls for him. They spar at one point, Phil proves himself with both sword and firearm, and Melinda raises his status in rank. Eventually, he saves her life and she makes him first mate, much to the horror and jealousy of former first mate Grant Ward.    Melinda makes Grant Ward walk the plank eventually when he betrays her and tries to kill Melinda in her sleep. Luckily, Phil had been there, doing a fine job at keeping May far from sleep (wink, wink). Little does she know that he is soon picked up by a trading ship. While Melinda makes herself Pirate Queen of the High Seas, she becomes closer and closer to Phil Coulson. During a raid on a small port, Melinda pucks up a child, a seven-year-old orphan girl named Daisy, and brings her aboard with the excuse that she could wash dishes, when really Melinda begins training her in combat. Phil helps as well, and other crew members challenge Melinda, saying she is getting soft. Phil discourages the potential mutiny, and teaches Crew member!Lance Hunter, a thing or two about respecting the ladies.     Eventually Grant Ward returns with a fleet of ships he has conquered, hellbent on getting his revenge and seizing Melinda’s hefty cargo of Pirate Treasure…

Medieval AU:      New King Phillip of House Coulson is set to pick a bride. His mother, Queen dowager Julie, has set before him the best choices for alliances, the lovely Lady Audrey, and Duchess Rosalind. But one night at the ball, Phillip is enchanted with the quiet woman who dances with incredible grace and style. She’s exotic in beauty and Phil is smitten when, alone with her on a balcony, the woman stops an attempted assassination. Phillip had found his bride, Lady Melinda of house May. But his mother may not be so happy, insisting that Phil choose from her selection. When the wedding day comes, Phillip lies to Lady Audrey, and sets Melinda in a duplicate dress, her face covered by a thick veil. Shapeshifter AU:      Melinda May-Coulson never shape-shifts. It’s simply easier to hide her gift then to flaunt it and be despised. Most people can shift into a small animal. Dogs, cats, bears, owls, and snakes are common. Horses and Lions are considered lucky. Some are even more amazing, holding within themselves more mythical forms. Every now and then, Griffins and Pegasi are made celebrities. But Melinda? Melinda is the only dragon she has ever heard of. So she is ashamed, hides her form until it becomes unbearable and she shifts alone in her home, filling the entire living room with shining dark blue and glittering silver scales, always leaving behind a scent of burnt tea and Lavender when she stretches her tight coil.       Phil is a more common form, simply a golden retriever that Melinda finds adorable. Sometimes he shifts to make her happy, running around her legs in circles, looking up at her with those big, round, soft blue eyes. He doesn’t ask for her to shift, has never seen her completely. He doesn’t judge her secrecy, understands it even, saying he knew someone who was a rat. (Melinda insists she is much more regal than a rat, of all things)       Life goes on until Phil’s friend, Maria, gives them a call about a girl that desperately needs a home. So the Coulson’s take her in, a little girl right out of the Hunan province in China, a new American name, Daisy, foreign to her ears, speaking rapidly in broken Mandarin that only Melinda understands.       One day, Daisy comes home early with Phil, and they walk outside into the backyard to find Melinda in her dragon form, and to Phil’s shock, Daisy screams with surprise and with a spark of light, becomes a dragon herself, finding her way to Melinda. Blue and silver scales shine with White and gold while a golden retriever yaps happily between them.

Hunger Games AU:    Hunger Games Victor Melinda May is living her quiet life with her husband Phil Coulson and single daughter, Daisy, in the Victor’s Village of district seven. But as the year’s days come closer and closer to the  reaping, Melinda suffers her annual PTSD from the horrors of her time in the arena, twelve years ago. Waking up in cold sweats or to the sound of her own scream is nothing new to  Melinda, her dreams haunted with the faces of the other tributes she’d watched die.    As her daughter nears fifteen, Melinda fears more and more until the inevitable happens; and Daisy is drawn as this year’s female tribute of District seven, alongside of Lincoln Campbell. Mournfully, Melinda is forced to accompany her own daughter on the train to The Capital, and give her five days of training and support before Daisy is thrust into the nightmare of the Hunger Games. Under strict orders from President Snow, Melinda has to force herself not to be biased while helping out both Daisy and Lincoln. While Phil watches at home, Melinda breaks while her daughter marches into a certain death sentence…

Star Wars AU:     Phil is the perfect Jedi. Bound to the code, completing all his missions successfully and with ease. Melinda? Melinda is a more radical Jedi. She breaks the code left and right, follows the force instead of the rules. She is unable to stay in one place for long, always moving with her fifth year Palawan, Daisy Johnson.      While on a mission, the two are paired up, living undercover as royals to another planet, Daisy poses as their princess daughter, meaning to try to swoon the prince, Robbie Reyes in order to get information while Jedi Masters May and Coulson search the palaces and crime families. But old fires are reignited, and Phil has to bury the feelings for Melinda while they advise Daisy to do the same, with the predicament at hand; Phil is hopelessly in love with Melinda, and Daisy might be in love with her perfect prince fit for a Jedi knight…

Matrix AU:     Living on the Zephyr, proud sister ship to the  Nebuchadnezzar, Captain Melinda May trains her new recruits, a handful of young adults fresh out of the Matrix. Her co-captain, Phil Coulson helps her as they navigate their confusing, underground world. But with a ship full of uncontrollable youngsters, the kids take it upon themselves to get the two captains together.

Demon AU:     When Audrey is killed in a car accident, Phil, under the guilt that it was his fault, takes it upon himself to revive his girlfriend. One night alone at a bar, he finds what he’s looking for. A woman who shimmers with an unearthly aura of sinful villainy. So Phil makes a deal, and Audrey is brought back, but Phil must stay with his new mistress: a demon under the name Melinda, better known as the Cavalry. He becomes her sex toy, like a human pet she keeps.  Phil soon discovers that the longer he stays with Melinda, the more hellish he becomes. Soon he has to make a choice; stay human, or accept his fate and find that there is more to Melinda then what meets his reddening eyes.      By the time Phil is no longer visible to the human eye unless he wills it, Phil has said goodbye to Audrey, and returned to Melinda’s side, ready to watch her belly grow. Somehow, someway, what was left of his human flesh has sparked a life inside his mistress, and Melinda is unsure what this means. As Phil falls for Melinda, the weight of his deal with her lessens, and therefor he pledges himself to her, for the rest of eternity.      When the child is born, Melinda misses her free days, and gives Phil their daughter, breaking off their deal. But Phil no longer wants Audrey. He wants to have Melinda back. So he sets off to reclaim her, all the while working through the surprises raising a half-demon child holds.

Writer/Editor  AU:     Phil is an esteemed author, having written the hits of the teen and young adult section. Melinda is an editor, desperate to get a job, and quick. She finds Phil in need of an Editor, and she snatches up the opportunity. As they spend more time together working though, Melinda starts to fall for him.      Daisy is Melinda’s adopted daughter. After school, she has found herself taking the bus to Phil’s house instead of her own. Her Mom is acting weird, more cheerful than usual and always talking about how wonderful her client’s book is going to be. Daisy just wants her mom back to herself again, without distracting men taking up her time. But on the flip side, Phil Coulson is a bright man who respects her, and always gives full attention to a conversation (Something Daisy craves). He’s kind and generous, even helps out when May sues her neighbor, Grant Ward, for sexual harassment. Daisy can’t help but not like Phil.     As Melinda edits Phil’s work, she finds herself more and more invested in him. Daisy is happier now, and Melinda has found someone she is truly comfortable talking to. When the book is finally finished, and Phil leaves for the press tour, Melinda misses him. Phil reveals that the main characters of his books are based off people he loves, and Melinda gets his memo immediately. There must be someone else.     Phil returns to May excited from the public’s reaction to his book, but disappointed when Melinda no longer sticks around. Eventually he puts the pieces together, explaining that the heroine of his book is based off Melinda herself.

Phillip J. "Phil" Coulson is a Former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Prior to his appointment, he served as one of the organization's best operatives. He acted as former Director Nick Fury's right-hand man for many important missions. He was put in charge of surveillance and served as the primary operative in Fury's Avengers Initiative. Agent Coulson also ran ground interference and tactical operations in Puente Antiguo, New Mexico as part of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s investigation surrounding the incident with Thor and the Destroyer. Coulson was also the primary S.H.I.E.L.D. operative in the investigation into Stark Industries: Sector 16 and the incident on the Howard Stark Memorial Freeway.

During the Attack on the Helicarrier, Agent Coulson was killed by Loki. His death gave the Avengers the push they needed to band together and stop the Chitauri invasion. On the orders of Director Fury, Coulson was brought to the Guest House, a secret facility where he was brought back to life using treatments developed by Project T.A.H.I.T.I., a project which he had formerly presided over. To preserve his sanity after he was healed, all memory of these events were removed from his mind.

Coulson returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. to lead a new team to investigate the cases S.H.I.E.L.D. had not yet classified. While on this team, Coulson discovered the truth about the events after his death. During the HYDRA Uprising, despite the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the betrayal of a member of his team, he led his team against the forces of HYDRA, attempting to stop his former colleague John Garrett, winning the final battle in which Garrett was ultimately defeated. After the battle, Nick Fury appointed him the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., ordering him to rebuild the organization from scratch.

To perform that task, Coulson led the remains of S.H.I.E.L.D. in many battles against HYDRA, crippling the terrorist organization. He even made some contacts with the US military via Brigadier General Glenn Talbot. However, he became a fugitive when another faction of S.H.I.E.L.D., led by Robert Gonzales, attacked and occupied his base. Now accompanied by only a few loyal friends, Coulson started a battle to reclaim S.H.I.E.L.D. He eventually made a deal with Gonzales, and they worked together against HYDRA, finally reunifying the two factions into one organization with Coulson as its rightful director. However, a new threat soon arose, the Inhumans led by Jiaying, the mother of Agent Skye. In the ensuing conflict, both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Inhumans suffered casualties, and even Coulson paid an extreme price to achieve victory, having his left arm cut off. But even that loss did not stop him, and he started a new project that would ensure the safety of humanity.

With the revelation of Lucy Bauer and her ambition to find the dangerous Darkhold book, Coulson created an alliance with Johnson and Ghost Rider to find the book before the ghost did. He was caught in an explosion with Ghost Rider and Fitz by Eli Morrow and almost sank into another dimension, but managed to get out with help from Hollden Radclife and Aida. Coulson then led the last fight against Morrow. Following the revelation that Mace was not actually an Inhuman, Coulson returned to the position of Director de facto while Mace remained de jure Director. Continuing fighting the Watchdogs and their leader Anton Ivanov who targets him, Coulson was kidnapped by Holden Radcliffe, replaced by an LMD and put inside the Framework, where he lived as a history teacher. With the help of Johnson and Jemma Simmons, Coulson escaped the Framework, only to face against the threat of Aida to the world. After he killed her, by temporarily bonding with a demonic entity, Coulson was imprisoned in space.

The son of Robert and Julie Coulson, Phil Coulson was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, on July 8, 1964. As an only child, he wished that he had siblings, idealizing what kind of relationship he would have with a younger brother. The Coulson family identified as Catholic, but they would only attend Mass on Christmas and Easter. Coulson grew up being a huge fan of Peggy Carter and Captain America, acquiring a vintage Captain America Card Collection over the course of two years. He played baseball in the Little League, batting with over a .400 average. His father introduced him into car tinkering, and together they worked on a red Corvette that Phil has kept to this day. Coulson lost his father at a very young age, and his mother is now deceased as well. After high school, while he was in college studying history and learning how S.H.I.E.L.D. shaped the times[13], he was recruited right away to the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, where he studied at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy of Communications[14], eventually becoming a special agent and was taught by his supervising officer Nick Fury alongside John Garrett.

Coulson's first mission was with Melinda May. He was sent on a retrieval operation to a coffee shop in Sausalito. The mission did not have an exit strategy and resulted in May spending five hours in the bay until Coulson fished her out. Over the years, Coulson and May developed a good friendship. During their time together the two often spoke about being able to pick their own ops and call their own shots. During one of their very first missions together, Coulson allowed May to drive his car Lola, making her vow to never tell anybody about it.  In 2002, Coulson was sent to Cusco, Peru. During the mission, he met and befriended Camilla Reyes, an officer of the Peruvian Military.

In coordination with the Avengers Initiative, Nick Fury started Project T.A.H.I.T.I., and appointed Coulson its director. The goal of the project was to create a medicine that could save a mortally wounded Avenger. Located within the Guest House, the scientists assigned to the project used a decaying alien corpse so they could drain it of its bodily fluids and turn them into powerful drugs. A drug called GH.325, which had the capability to repair the injured tissue and to cure deadly diseases, was developed. Coulson then chose six agents who were dying of terminal illnesses. At first, the patients were doing fine, but soon started to speak gibberish and began writing strange symbols on anything, including their own bodies. Coulson, after seeing the extreme side effects on the test subjects, resigned from his position, recommending the project's shutdown and that the alien corpse should be destroyed. He also had the patients' memories erased and gave them new identities, giving them a chance of a normal life.

After wealthy industrialist Tony Stark was kidnapped in Afghanistan by the terrorist group called the Ten Rings, Coulson and Nick Fury feared that Stark, being just a wealthy civilian and not a trained soldier, could tell his kidnappers everything he knew about American national security, since Stark was involved in making many weapons for the United States Armed Forces. Coulson immediately offered to go searching for Stark himself, but Fury stopped him, saying that S.H.I.E.L.D. was not authorized for foreign operations in Afghanistan. Instead, he sent him to Stark's business partner Obadiah Stane, to see if Stark was a man who could sell his country to save his own skin.

While going to New Mexico, Coulson stopped at a Roxxon service station to buy some snacks and fill his car with gas. While he was in the shop, two robbers threatened the clerk with shotguns. Coulson intervened, passing them his car keys, but showing them his gun. When he gave the gun to them, he quickly knocked both of them unconscious. He returned to the counter and bought two snacks, payed, told the clerk to keep the change and then left the scene. A year after the battle of Puente Antiguo, a group of scientists successfully reactivated the giant automaton that attacked the city. When Coulson saw this, he told the chief scientist to make the automaton a hundred times smaller and put a trigger on it.

A few minutes later, Coulson was called by Fury, who informed him that Steve Rogers was finally found. When Coulson arrived at the place of the discovery, he saw his colleagues excavating Rogers' completely frozen, but still living body from the wreck of HYDRA's giant plane, the Valkyrie. However, there was no time for celebrating, as Fury immediately sent Coulson on another mission.

Time later, Coulson, Nick Fury, and Fury's second in command Maria Hill were at the secret S.H.I.E.L.D. facility where a group of scientists studied the Tesseract, an object of seemingly unlimited power. When the Tesseract suddenly activated, with no apparent reason, a man suddenly appeared, holding a Scepter of alien origin. The stranger displayed powers similar to those of Thor, and he made it clear that he wants to take possession of the Tesseract and conquer the Earth. The stranger introduced himself as Loki, and with the power of the scepter, took control over Dr. Erik Selvig, Agent Clint Barton, and several other agents. In the ensuing battle, Loki and his men escaped with the Tesseract, and the entire base was destroyed.
