Some @gonzague-if art of Aurore and Nevers early in their courtship. The original novel never gave much information about their first meeting, except that Nevers had a castle or estate near Tarrides đŸ€”
Considering how earnest and friendly Nevers is portrayed in the game, it's easy to see how he winds up charming someone as reserved and cautious as Aurore. Also, Nevers is confirmed to be drawn to clever people, and Aurore is very well read and educated despite being raised in such a secluded environment. I could easily picture their romance playing out like something out of a storybook. It's such a shame it doesn't have a happy ending for the both of them 😱.

Always There, Women in Motorsport: Women at the 24 Hours of Daytona
Women's history in motorsport is rich, and that has always been the case. This year we will have seven women competing in the race, but back in 1966, when it was run as a 24 Hour race for the first time, we already had five women competing in the race.
The 24 Hours of Daytona was first run in 1966 but its history goes back to 1962 when it was first run as a 3 Hours race counting towards the FIA’s International Championship for GT Manufacturers (Later known as the World Sportscar Championship). 1963 would also see a 3H race. In 1964 and 65 a 2000 Km race would be held, which was about half the length of the 24H of Le Mans at that time. In 1966 the race turned into a 24 Hour race and has ran as such since with two exceptions*
*In 1972 the race was shortened to a 6 Hour race as the FIA feared the reliability of the 3.0 liter cars and in 1974 the race was not run due to the energy crisis.
In 1966 the 24 Hours of Le Mans had already run over 30 editions and with success for women at that. In 1930 Marguerite Mareuse and Odette Siko would become the first women to compete in the race, finishing 2nd in class and in 1932 Siko would even go on to win her class. The 1930s would prove to be successful for women as in 1935 a record of 10 women would compete at Le Mans. In 1957 women were prohibited from competing at Le Mans and this ban would only be lifted in 1971.
During the period of this ban, the first 24 Hours of Daytona would be run which saw two all female teams compete. Rosemary Smith and Sierra ‘Smokey’ Drolet finished 30th overall and sixth in their class in a Sunbeam Alpine. While Janet Guthrie, Donna Mae Mims and Suzy Dietrich finished 32nd overall and won their class in a Sunbeam Alpine.
Clipping from The Boston Globe · Sunday, February 13, 1966 Mentioning these performances

Donna Mae Mims, also known as the "Pink Lady" was the first woman to win a Sports Car Club of America national championship. Also one of the first women to compete in the 24H of Daytona (Source: Sports Car Club of America Archive)
Women would continue to compete at the race with another all-female team competing in 1967 consisting of Janet Guthrie, Sierra ‘Smokey’ Drolet and Anita Taylor driving a Ford Mustang. They finished fifth in class and 20th overall. Smokey would go on to win her class in 1969 driving a Corvette with John Tremblay, Vince Gimondo and John Belperche finishing sixteenth overall. That same year she would finish the 12 Hours of Sebring second in class together with Rosemary Smith. In 1970 Smokey would finish 25th overall while Donna Mae Mims competed but failed to finish

In 1977 another female team took the start Christine Beckers and Lella Lombardi would share an Inaltéra GTP but unfortunately they did not make it to the finish. In 1980 Kathy Rude would drive in the 24 Hours of Daytona for the first time, finishing eight in the GTO Class together with her teammates. That same year Anne-Charlotte Verney would finish 9th overall and fifth in the GTX class while Lyn St. James finished 17th overall and Christine Beckers would finish 47th overall.
In 1981 Rude would finish seventh overall and third in the GTU class with her teammates Lee Mueller and Philippe Martin in a Mazda RX-7, Gaile Engle (36th overall) and Vicki Smith (56th overall) would also compete. The following year she would team up again with Lee Mueller, and she achieved a class win and sixth place overall with Allan Moffat as third driver. Vicki Smith also returned with a 25th place overall and Desiré Wilson would finish 45th overall.
In 1983 Rude would return to the race, now with an all-female team. Rude, Deborah Gregg, and Bonnie Henn would finish thirteenth overall and sixth in class in their Porsche 924. Smith and St. James also competed finishing 35th and 44th overall respectively. Kathy Rude would unfortunately suffer a huge crash at Brainerd that same year which left her in a coma for several weeks. She recovered but it meant she never got the chance to compete in IndyCar where she had arranged a seat for the 1984 season. The following years also saw women compete but without much success.
Tumblr media

In 1987 Lyn St. James finished 7th overall and first in the GTO Class, together with her teammates Tom Gloy, Bill Elliott, and Scott Pruett. Deborah Greg would finish 9th overall and 3rd in the GTO class while Linda Ludemann finished 16th overall.

Ludemann and James would continue to compete in the race in the coming years but it wasn’t until 1990 that there was success again. James would finish fifth overall and win the GTO class together with her teammates Robby Gordon and Calvin Fish in a Mercury Cougar. Ludemann would finish 17th overall.
Tomiko Yoshiwaka and DesirĂ© Wilson would finish 47th overall in 1993. 1994 would see the return of an all-female team when Linda Pobst, Kat Teasdale, Margy Eatwell, Tami Rai Busby, and Leigh O’Brien finished 47th overall. That same year Lilian Bryner (15th overall), Kat Teasdale (17th overall) and Tammy Jo Kirk (34th overall) would also compete.
Tumblr media
Tomiko Yoshikawa at Daytona in 1993
1995 saw another female class win when Lilian Bryer finished fifth overall with her teammates Enzo Calderari, Renato Mastropietro & Ulli Richter. They won the GTS-2 Class in their Porsche 911. The following year that same line-up would win their class again while they finished fourth overall. A little under 10 years later, in 2004, Lilian Bryner made history when she won the 24H of Spa overall.
In 1997 Claudia HĂŒrtgen would finish 4th overall and first in the GTS-2 class with her teammates Ralf Kelleners, Patrice Goueslard, and AndrĂ© AhrlĂ© in their Porsche 911 GT2. This is the last female class win to date. Throughout the late 90s into the early 2000s women continued to compete in the race. The biggest success came for Milka Duno when she finished 2nd overall in 2007 with a Riley mK XI together with Dario Franchitti, Marino Franchitti, and Kevin McGarrity. This remains the highest overall finish of a female driver to date.
In 2019 an all-female entry returned when Simona de Silvestro, Katherine Legge, Bia Figueiredo, and Christina Nielsen finished 32nd overall and 12th in the GTD class in an Acura NSX GT3. The following year Tatiana Calderon, Rahel Frey, Legge and Nielsen competed in a Lamborghini Huracan but failed to finish.

From 2013 up until the race this year, at least a single woman has competed. With a record of entries coming in 2024 when nine women competed. This year 7 women will compete in the race with Karen Gaillard making her debut in the race.

Free to Borrow Books about Tintin and Hergé
The only requirement is to make an Internet Archive account. (If you already have an account, check if it was compromised in the recent hack and change your password.) Note that this is in no way a comprehensive list of works or an ideal Tintinology primer, just the books that have been made available on the archive, which also means that it contains everything from picture books to highly academic texts. However, I've marked with a * the books I think are best to start with.
Includes works in both English and French (plus a few in Spanish). Please don't hesitate to ask if you have questions!

Books for Learning Cybersecurity
I created this post for the Studyblr Masterpost Jam, check out the tag for more cool masterposts from folks in the studyblr community!
I'll admit that I've mostly used online resources and courses so far, but these are the handful of books that I've read and recommend!
Books About Cybersecurity History
The Cuckoo's Egg by Clifford Stoll: the story of how one man noticed an odd error in a computer at UC Berkely and traced it back to an international hacking scheme. a very fun & interesting read.
Cult of the Dead Cow by Joseph Menn: a look into hacker culture and how few people took computer security seriously at the beginning, and an exploration of how cybersecurity often becomes deeply and uncomfortably intertwined with geopolitics.
Books to Learn Cybersecurity
Practical Malware Analysis by Michael Sikorski and Andrew Honig: an oldie but a goodie for getting into malware analysis. I'm currently in the middle of working through this one and having a great time.
Serious Cryptography by Jean-Philippe Aumasson: a detailed guide for understanding the nuts and bolts of cryptography (the 2nd edition is coming out this month, so it might be worth checking out the newer version).
Cybersecurity Foundations Textbooks
Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach (7th edition) by Kurose & Ross: this was the textbook we used in the computer networks class I took in college - I think this book does a good job of explaining how the internet works and breaking concepts down to the lowest level.
Operating System Concepts (10th edition) by Silberschatz, Galvin, and Gagne: this is the textbook from my operating systems course. This is a good book to go through if you want to learn how a computer Really Works.
Books I Haven't Read (Yet) - But I Know They'll Be Good
Cybersecurity Books from No Starch Press - many books have free chapters posted here that you can read as a preview!
Books by Bruce Schneier - books on society, technology, and cryptography

The entire imperial family before the coronation
The order was given at the Tuileries Palace: the whole family was to gather for the coronation festivities of H.I.M Emperor Napoléon V. This rare gathering in the heart of Paris gave rise to a colorful family photo. Some journalists are also linking the photo to Louis Simparte's recent articles against the imperial family. Is Emperor Napoléon V preparing a media counter-attack?
Tumblr media
From left to right: Princess Amélie, Princess Marianne, Prince Philippe (2nd in order of succession), Madame Hortense, Empress Charlotte of the French, Emperor Napoléon V of the French, Madame MÚre Marie-Joséphine, Princess Armance, Imperial Prince Henri of the French (1st in order of succession), Princess-Napoléon Olympia and Princess Sophie.
Imperial Prince Henri of the French has unexpectedly become heir to the crown once again. Less popular and well-known than Emperor Napoléon V and Madame Hortense, the imperial family is certainly preparing its return to the media and political scene. Prince Henri may seem like a man of many secrets, but he's actually more accessible than his late brother, Emperor Napoléon IV.
Few details are known about the preparations for the festivities, but many Parisians have noticed the extensive work being carried out on Notre-Dame Cathedral.

dakoda's sleeping with his head on your chest, and you're still watching the movie he insisted on before he fell asleep.
you are running your fingers through his hair, pushing a few stray strands out of his face, when you get an idea. you gently separate his hair into three sections and begin braiding.
after a couple minutes you finish the braid and he's still asleep so you decide to take a nap as well.

dakoda takes off his helmet to answer the monday question, and will and philippe start laughing, making him look over at them. "what is so funny?"
will looks down at philippe. "you wanna tell him?"
philippe shakes his head. "nah, i think you should."
"tell me what?" dakoda asks, running a hand through his hair, but that's when he feels it. "oh. you’ve gotta be kidding me."
"you're taking those self care nights a little too serious, dk." philippe laughs.
the door opens and michael and whitey are talking about something. dakoda turns around to face them. "why didn't you say anything before we left the dorm. you let me leave with this." he says, pointing at the braid.
michael holds his hands up. “hey, i had no idea, man."

your laying in dakoda's bed scrolling through tiktok when michael and will walk in.
"you're on dk's shit list." michael says, tossing his bag on the floor.
"why?" you ask, locking your phone.
will holds out a smoothie to you. "here, he made you this."
you eye will skeptically but sit up and take the smoothie anyway. "why am i on his shit list? and where is he?"
"he had to grab something from whitey's, and because of his hair."
your mouth drops and both of them start laughing. "i completely forgot about it."
michael nods, sitting down on his bed. "yeah, well you were also out cold when we left so."
you take a sip of the smoothie and immediately lean over and grab dakoda's garbage can, spitting it out. "what is that!" you choke out.
"strawberries, sabra hummus, pickles, cream cheese, protein shake, pineapples, and chocolate chips." will pauses. "also, dakoda didn't make that, the three of us did."
dakoda walks in and freezes when he sees the cup in your hand. "don't drink that!" he says, walking over and taking it from you.
"you're a minute too late, koda. also, i'm sorry about your hair. i fell asleep and completely forgot about it."
"it's fine" dakoda says, throwing the smoothie away. "it could've been worse."

Telemann: Trumpet Concerto in D major / Reinhold Friedrich
Reinhold Friedrich from Germany won 2nd prize in the trumpet category at the 35th ARD International Music Competition. Here he plays by Georg Philipp Telemann: Trumpet Concerto in D major.
Georg Philipp Telemann/ His music incorporates French, Italian, and German national styles, and he was at times even influenced by Polish popular music. He remained at the forefront of all new musical tendencies, and his music stands as an important link between the late Baroque and early Classical styles. The Telemann Museum in Hamburg is dedicated to him.

Lupercalia: Antony as the Priest of Lupercus
Tumblr media
Antony, always proud of his magnificent figure, was highly diverted at the thought of appearing in this state of nature in the very Forum, for a Consul of Rome leaping about, naked and unashamed, would be a spectacle never before witnessed in the city. He was not sure, of course, that he would dare to enact these duties at the approaching festival; yet it could not be denied that in doing so while holding a Consulship he would have the sanction of religious law if not of custom. After all, the whole affair had something of the nature of a carnival, and at such a time, surely, even a Consul could unbend.
Antony, having fortified himself with liberal potations of wine, presented himself at the place of sacrifice stark naked except for the slip of goat skin around his loins, and rather drunk. The people laughed and clipped their hands to see their Consul thus enacting the time honoured role, and when, having been "blooded" and handed the februa, he pranced away into the crowd, the women ran merrily forward to receive from him one of those jovial blows he was delivering to right and left and incidentally to admire his splendid physique.
Cicero in the 2nd Philippics, asked what could be more shameful than this foolery and this nakedness, and declared that Antony, even if he were Priest of Lupercus, ought not to have forgotten that he was Consul too. How different this was, he sighed, to his own conception of the Consular dignity! What a dreadfully vulgar personage Antony was, he murmured, turning his eyes from the roistering figure: what offence he must be giving to the good old nobility!
Caesar, clad in triumphal purple, was seated on his golden chair upon the rostra, waiting to take the salute from the procession of nude boys, when his colleague came bounding into the crowded Forum, followed by the laughing mob, and pushed his way towards the Dictator for the purpose of hailing him as patron lord of the Lupercalia; but suddenly, so it seems, Antony observed in the throng one of Caesar’s ardent admirers holding in his hand an improvised royal diadem ornamented with bay-leaves with which he intended, perhaps, to crown one of the Dictator's statues, profiting by the license of the merry occasion to do so with impunity. Instantly a daring idea presented itself to Antony "who was always ready for any audacious deed," as Velleius says, in recording the incident: he would offer this diadem to Caesar himself, here and now, and thus force his hand, obliging him to show the public whether or not he really desired to be king, and at the same time giving the masses the opportunity to reveal their own sentiments in the matter.
Antony held the diadem out to Caesar. His action was followed by some applause, but it was not much, and it was not spontaneous. But when Caesar pushed the diadem away from him, there was a general shout of applause. Antony then offered him the diadem for the second time, and again only a few applauded, though, when Caesar again rejected it, there was applause from everyone. Caesar, finding that the experiment had proved a failure, rose from his seat and ordered the wreath to be carried to the Capitol.

Moccus
Moccus, also known as Moccos, is a fascinating figure in Celtic and Gaulish mythology, tied deeply to the cultural and spiritual significance of pigs and boars in ancient Celtic society. He emerges as a deity associated with the continental Celtic tribe of the Lingones, whose territory centered around modern-day Langres in northeastern France, near the Seine and Marne rivers. The Lingones were a Gaulish people who also had a presence in northeastern Italy near the Po River, known for their skills in agriculture, weaving, and metalworking.
Tumblr media
Moccus is primarily recognized as a boar- or swine-god, a protector of boar hunters and warriors. His name derives from the Gaulish word moccos, meaning "pig" or "wild boar," a root that appears in related Celtic languages like Old Irish mucc (pig), Welsh moch (pigs), and Breton moc'h (pig). This etymology strongly links him to the boar, an animal that held immense symbolic power for the Celts. Boars represented ferocity, strength, and war, but also prosperity and fertility—dual aspects that likely shaped Moccus’s role in the spiritual landscape. Archaeological evidence, like the Euffigneix statue found in the Lingones’ territory, reinforces this connection. The statue, dating to around the 1st century BC, depicts a torc-wearing figure with a large wild boar across his torso, suggesting a divine association with the animal, possibly Moccus himself.
Tumblr media
Moccus is known from a single votive inscription from Langres, dated to the late 2nd or 3rd century AD, which identifies him with the Roman god Mercury. The inscription reads: In h(onorem) d(omus) d(ivinae) deo Mercur(io) Mocco L(ucius) Mascl(ius?) Masculus et Sedatia Blandula mater ex voto—translating to a dedication "in honor of the divine house, to Mercury Moccus" by Lucius Masclius Masculus and his mother Sedatia Blandula. This blending with Mercury reflects the Roman practice of interpretatio romana, where local deities were equated with Roman gods. Mercury, a god of trade, travel, and communication, might seem an odd match, but in the Gaulish context, Mercury often took on roles tied to fertility, abundance, and the land, which aligns with Moccus’s association with pigs as symbols of prosperity.
Tumblr media
Some scholars suggest Moccus’s role extended beyond hunting. He may have been a deity of fertility and vegetation, reflecting the boar’s broader symbolic role in Celtic culture. In Irish mythology, pigs are often linked to the Otherworld, slaughtered and magically reborn in supernatural feasts, hinting at themes of abundance and renewal.
Tumblr media
Scholars like Philippe Jouët connect Moccus to the Irish myth Oidheadh Chlainne Tuireann, where Lugh (the Irish equivalent of the Celtic god Lugus, also tied to Mercury) obtains the pig-skin of Tuis, which can heal any injury. This connection suggests Moccus might have had healing or protective aspects, perhaps safeguarding the land and its people as much as its hunters.

Moccus, the healing druid
Tumblr media
The boar’s significance in Celtic culture can’t be overstated. It appeared on Gaulish coins, standards, and altars, often as a divine symbol. In the Lingones’ territory, the reverence for boars is clear from artifacts like the Euffigneix statue and the votive inscription. Some myths even attribute to Moccus the creation of wereboars, or Grondr, as a curse on humans who desecrated forests, transforming them into boar-like creatures to reflect their greed—a narrative that paints him as a god of nature’s vengeance, tied to the forest, vegetation, pestilence, and omens.
Tumblr media
Moccus, a stout, humanoid figure with a majestic boar's head, dressed in rustic, earth-toned druidic robes with intricate, Celtic-inspired embroidery, stands amidst a serene, misty forest of ancient, gnarled trees, their trunks adorned with moss and ferns. Wild boars, sows, and playful piglets roam freely around him, as he gently guides them with a worn, wooden pastoral staff, its surface etched with symbols of the natural world. The atmosphere is tranquil, with warm, golden light filtering through the canopy above, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. Inspired by the works of Simon Stalenhag, Ian McQue, and Jakub Roztočil, this detailed, matte painting-style artwork features deep, rich colors, with a focus on complementary hues, and intricate, hand-painted textures, evoking a sense of fantasy and wonder, as if rendered in Unreal Engine 5, with an 8k resolution.
