The problem with dissection/the process of "understanding" in general is that going too far in abstracting something defeats the initial purpose of abstracting it and brings you back to the beginning which is the reality you were abstracting from and the thing is that the ☯️ is a visual translation of the fact that the furthest human thought can go without losing meaning in the process of "meaning making" is to draw dichotomy which is very similar to the fact of all or nothing data bridges that numerous sensory inputs have to trigger in a certain threshold of "difference" in order to trigger an action potential that conducts one sensation to another to create the physical pattern of a person making a "meaning" of something and while a computer trying to replicate that process would use 1s and zeroes because that was the most simplified/abstracted visual symbol of difference a person closer to our point in time could come up with, someone millenia ago observing the same process of the mind and meaning making abstracted it to the point of the dark 陰 and the light 陽 when the sun rises over the hill. Imagination is a physical process where patterns initially generated by simple chain reactions between sensory stimuli and behavioral responses that alter future sensory stimuli being reconnected and combined to create distinct, new patterns that then become a part of that concrete sensory data and perpetuate variation to a point where initial stimulus loses relevance. Everything created by humans can be understood by other humans because the functionality of our understanding has largely remained consistent over a long period of time, the variations in our attachments between symbols and internal stimuli occur at a much faster rate than variations in the physical makeup of our understanding process. The probability of that understanding, however, will be affected by variations at different levels of the process. Variety in stimulus/lived experiences/input data can cause difference in understanding, attachment of different external behavioral responses to distinct internal processes can cause difference in understanding and the pathway of understanding connecting similar input data of the senses to similar output data of actions can be variable while producing the same outwardly visible results. Given such disparate probabilities, isn't it really a miracle then when two human beings are able to understand one another?

i think there’s something to be said about how the gig economy makes things ostensibly more convenient but also worse. and not just like, doordash guys take too long to get to you so your food is cold. but because the business model is centered around a million people doing work without any familiarity with what theyre doing and decentralized from the businesses they’re working with, you get service that’s being reinvented from scratch every time it’s purchased.
it happens all the time that I’ll order an uber and when they pick me up, they’ll just stop in the middle of the street with their hazards on, making me dodge traffic to get to them and pissing off the cars around them. and then I’ll get in the car and chat with the driver and find out they’re actually from two counties over and they’ve never driven here before, so they don’t know where parking is or whether they’re heading to a wide open parking lot or a busy downtown. and then you start to realize that they’re not being a dick, they’re just given as little information as possible every time they pick up a ride so they have to just guess how and where to pick up a passenger. and since they’re paid by ride, they’re incentivized to pick you up as fast as possible. and all the people who cared about finding a safe place to pick you up quit the app or stopped doing that so all you’re left with is the pissed off cockroach motherfuckers.
and then you see that this happens with every fucking app. doordash sucks because you pay 8 million dollars for delivery and you still have to hike half a mile to find the guy because he got lost in your apartment complex. Instacart sucks because the guy picking your groceries couldn’t care less about getting ripe fruit and replaces your heavy cream with shaving cream. customer support for all this sucks because the guy helping you can’t do anything more than offer you $5 credit, beg for your forgiveness, and hope you get out of the queue fast enough for him to go to the bathroom. because all of them aren’t given enough time to do a good job or enough money to care.
and every time a gig worker makes the experience suck for you, it’s a rational decision. they’re evaluating the money they’re being paid and if it’s worth getting paid less to do a good job, and correctly deciding that it isn’t. so you can’t even get mad, because you’d do it too. and so the company manages to pass on its race to the bottom to its lowest-paid employees.

Dick, on the phone with Roy: I just think that Bruce actually hates me and doesn’t stand to be around me ever
Bruce, standing behind him wearing nightwing socks, nightwing cap, nightwing pants, “father to worlds best son” t-shirt, trying to hide a huge reprint of a picture of him and Dick he brought for Dicks new apartment behind his back:

i love dropping my pen putting my glasses on my desk and rubbing my face like an exhausted divorced academic in the 1980s who is greying and sexily tousled and has been up for hours digging through the yellowed pages of old obscure treatises about etruscan pots

Linktober Day 15; La Abu Ridge!
The blood moon snuck up on them while they’re clearing a monster camp. Good thing Link has a pocket ghost friend nobody knew about!
((What a familiar song… Zelda always had an ear for music. Maybe she can collect it for future analysis?))
Totk Au’s called Familiar Familiar, and focused on Link and Zelda being travel buddies through a post Upheaval Hyrule.
And here’s my patreon for Spoilers and Sketches!

the specific effect of stardust crusaders is crazy because in my mind it has the nostalgic and bittersweet atmosphere of a double exposed roll of film where the photos you took of the evening desert sky are overlaying the photos of your friends on a roadtrip etc and then you rewatch it and it's like oh ok another weird tongue scene and there is a pig in the toilet. cool. and they're like square

not that joe keery isn’t a very attractive man but i absolutely love the mythos the fandom has constructed around steve’s beauty like he’s somehow simultaneously the most beautiful creature you’ll ever encounter in your life and just some guy. fic writers become divinely possessed by the muses when describing this guy’s moles. i’ve never felt more secure about my own brown eyes than when i read what people write about steve harrington’s otherworldly beautiful brown eyes. he’s both unobtainable handsome and your boy next door.

love how the ming dynasty has a long series of really competent and hardworking and idealistic emperors who each get on the throne and go i’m going to be the best emperor ever, unlike my good-for-nothing predecessor who let the bureaucrats make all the decisions while he sat back and worked in his hobbies! and then they realize that the squabbling confucian bureaucracy has gridlocked the government so badly that the emperor couldn’t make any decisions even if he wanted to and they’re like ohhhh i get it now

Fandom will continue to suck until we can get large numbers of gay men intensely and passionately invested in femslash. Only then will the scene become bearable and good.

tee bee aitch i think video game osts have gotta be pretty up there in terms of ways to explore different music styles but the people who listen to video game osts are largely impervious to the delights of actually exploring music so its just wasted potential for a lot of people

I need people to understand labor is alienating not because of an inherent quality of work itself but because of the way it is organized under a given economic system, therefore removing the alienation from labor is possible and there is a concrete way to achieve it
