How will Phelesmon and Beelzebumon deal when a rude person steps on their tails. They were at a café (probably the one where Splashmon worked at?) And there's just this Karen who just steps on their tails for no reason.
Also, she's wearing heels.
Beelzemon
Beelzemon's tail is pretty hard, and pretty thick at that. Being stepped on, he normally doesn't feel too much of it, but that doesn't mean he's going to let it go when it happens. So, when he's just trying to enjoy his coffee, or whatever he got, and someone steps on his tail, he's going to be the most dramatic about it even though it hardly hurt. Well... it hurt a bit more, because of how it was stepped on with the damn heels.
He's not going to let her get a word in. She should have seen his tail! She should have paid more attention! He's not going to "reel his tail in" to be under a chain when it was perfectly fine laying on the ground there, she should really watch herself.
She's lucky she's human, otherwise he would have been more aggressive than simply making a scene over it. Whenever someone asks if he wants them to get some ice for his tail, he simply grins and just says "it didn't hurt that bad. She just needed to learn to watch herself and not be an entitled dumbass."
Phelesmon
Phelesmon is a bit more graceful over such things than Beelzemon is. His kind of method is passive aggressive type interaction compared to Beelzemon's up-in-your-face type of action. When the Karen steps on his tail without a care, he does feel it a lot more as it's thinner and being stepped on by heels does NOT help it.
Certainly the type to simply start saying "I do apologize that my tail was in your way despite there being plenty of room for you to walk! Oh dear pardon me and my thoughtlessness", merely dripping with sarcasm and other passive-aggressive statements. He's smiling a sickeningly sweet smile the whole time, though it's clear he's quite angry.
Or he certainly plays the victim just well enough to get everyone else on her for him. Depends on how he feels for the day. Of course, that shit hurt like hell, his tail is quite sensitive! Being stepped on hurt a lot! And he had every right to it! Certainly takes the kindness of the other customers around and gets away with a free drink as well.

I’m a huge fan of the games The Friends We Left Behind and Imaginary Friend Asylum. There’s just something appealing to me about the concept of humans having monster companions. In a lot of ways, the bond between child and imaginary friend reminded me of the Digimon franchise—which simultaneously made me adore the Friends We Left Behind world even more while also making me curious about what Digimon the imaginary friends may best translate to.
Here’s my personal thoughts, but if you’re a fan of both franchises, feel free to make your own list/s and tag me in it!
—————
When the protagonist first comes to the asylum, he meets Niccolò Galo and Polo.
Despite Polo’s humble demeanor in the above concept art, he is depicted as flamboyant, pompous, and outspoken. His design is also loosely based off a 1600s entertainer. Jokermon immediately came to mind until I remember the existence of Fakemon. It has all the spirit of Jokermon but shares more physical features with Polo, including the mask, cape, and drama masks.
—————
Next up is Edward Bennett’s friend, Twistee.
While it’s never expressly stated that Twistee is part plant, his coloration and texture immediately brought to mind images of plants. Ajatarmon felt like a perfect fit, not just for the coloration but for its flexible body and the inclusion of a mask in its design. While Twistee is friendlier than most Ajatarmon, the visual similarities couldn’t be overlooked.
—————
Tommy Bennett and his friend, Smudge, are the youngest residents at the asylum.
Smudge is an artist at heart, and he uses his drawings to express himself. I went back and forth between Bacomon and Omekamon for a while before ultimately settling on the latter, not only for color-matching purposes but also for the fact that both love drawing and both wear drawn-on faces.
—————
Pete Gustavo and Marco are the newest residents at the asylum, so very little is known about them.
Marco may have been the most difficult for me to find a Digimon counterpart to. Though I thought of him as a sentient doll, the Wiki describes him as “fishlike,” and his dialogue consists of little more than pirate puns. When disregarding his appearance altogether and focusing on his behavior in both games, I was left with a gruff creature that spent a lot of time in or around water and consistently had a pirate motif. Piranimon fit the best to me, but other Digimon like Hookmon, MarineChimariamon, and Mermaimon were also considered.
—————
The first character the protagonist meets from the girl’s ward is Annabelle Walker and her friend, Pooky.
Despite resembling a jester, Pooky is anything but comedic. He is fiercely protective of his human and is known for going to extreme lengths to keep her safe. He also has a strong affinity with fire. I went back and forth between Phelesmon, NeoDevimon, and SkullSatamon for a while, but I ultimately settled on the Phelesmon for visual and symbolic reasons.
—————
Momo Akane’s friend, Pixie, is characterized best in The Friends We Left Behind.
Pixie craves attention and loves singing. Other than this, the only thing we know about her is the fact that she sports a “lolita punk” aesthetic. To my knowledge, there are no Digimon that marry the popstar concept with Pixie’s highly stylized design choice. LovelyAngemon was the closest match, especially when compared to the some other options.
—————
Charlotte Weaver is a shy girl who likes making dolls with her friend, Dolly.
There is no doubt in my mind that young Charlotte would have a Dressmon partner if she lived in the digital world. Both Dolly and Dressmon are patchwork dolls stuck with sewing pins. While other Digimon may have more visual similarities to Dolly, few (if any) manage to capture the sewing theme as well as Dressmon.
—————
[MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!]
Last but not least is the protagonist himself, Anthony Rivers, and his elusive imaginary friend, Hollow.
Hollow is no where to be seen in The Friends We Left Behind, and she only appears in the second half of Imaginary Friend Asylum. However, she plays a crucial role in both games’ overarching plots. Her clockwork-porcelain-angel design is unique, but I feel Quantumon captures some of Hollow’s more notable features and shares her ability to rewrite history.

Punchmon Level: Adult (Champion) Attribute: Virus
A showy and malicious Puppet Digimon born from a street performing database. It carries itself with a gleeful and theatrical air that belies its true capacity for violence. Its SpecialMove is using its living cudgel to whack its targets on the head (”Crazy Crack“).
Suggested pre-evolved forms: Impmon, Dracmon, Ekakimon, TyuTyumon, NiseAgumon Hakase, Ghostmon

Halloween Digimon
If you follow my blog you know I like Digimon and I like Halloween, so why not combine them and gush over Halloweeny Digimon. I'll be showcasing Digimon species that fall into classic Halloween archetypes.
What's spookier than ghosts? Digimon has lots of ghosts and the most recent and honestly probably the best is Ghostmon. That is such a good design and it's even a friendly ghost as it likes to help people, but turns invisible first because it's really shy. I love it so much!
The rest of the ghosts aren't as friendly. Meet Bakemon, a wicked creature that possesses and destroys computer systems. Nobody knows what's under the cloth it wears and while it isn't good in a fight, it can do really nasty stuff to enemies it catches by surprise. Its name comes from "bakemono" a type of Japanese mythical creature that is sometimes translates as "ghost". Bakemon has a variant called Soulmon who wears a witch's hat and is more powerful.
Combining ghosts with the grim reaper is Phantomon (JP: Fantomon). Its a common evolution of Bakemon that has the power of clairvoyance to foresee then others are about to die. The interior of its cloth body contains a portal to another dimension and its scythe can cut through souls. The weapon it carries is a mix of the grim reaper's scythe and a Japanese weapon called a kusarigama. Phantomon has a variant called MetalPhantomon which is an absolute beast. I love this design of a mechanical grim reaper. I have no idea why it isn't en evolution of Phantomon, they're the same level for some reason. MetalPhantomon is rumored to be controlled by something from another dimension.
Witches are another Halloweeen classic and Digimon has a great example in Witchmon. She is a classic witch, but her design makes her look a bit artificial, kind of like a doll. Of course she rides a flying broomstick and a black cat familiar. She's a counterpart and rival to Wizardmon and both come from Witchelny, the setting of another series of Bandai virtual pet games.
Skeletons are Halloweeeny and while there a few animal skeleton Digimon, the closest we have to a human skeleton Digimon is SkullSatamon. Its lore is pretty bland, just being a fallen angel, but hey, lookit the bones
Speaking of fallen angels, the big red devil with a pitchfork archetype is also represented in Digimon with Boogeymon and its evolution Phelesmon. Boogeymon is obviously named after the boogeyman (I love whwn they play around with the mon suffix) and has a pretty sick design. I love the tattoos and in the lore they let it cast dark spells. Phelesmon puts on some clothes and becomes a charming manipulator that convinces people to sell their souls in exchange for fulfilling their desires. Its name and behavior comes from Mephistopheles, the demon from the story of Faust from German legend who gets the title character to sell his soul in exchange for knowledge.
How about spiders? Digimon has a few spiders, but the best in terms of spookiness is Dokugumon. It was once a peaceful creature, but a virus turned it into a monster that corrupts the network by its very presence. It is a relentless predator that follows its prey no natter how far they flee and its very breath is toxic enough to kill. Just imagine being lost in the woods and seeing this nightmare coming after you
You better believe Digimon has a Frankenstein, and its story is a sad one. It was built as a cyborg Digimon at the same time as another named Andromon. However, the primarily mechanical Andromon was deemed a success while the primarily organic Boltmon was considered a failure due to it possessing emotions. Its creator rejected it and now Boltmon wanders around, consumed in sorrow. It is based on the movie version of the monster in appearance (green skin and lots of bolts), but its lore drawn more from the book version.
You want mummies? We got mummies! Mummymon and is evolution Pharaohmon are excellent Egyptian monsters. Mummymon is a necromancer that manipulates the souls (residual data) of deleted Digimon. I like how its not just a mummy but its design of using leg braces and its gun as a crutch implies that being a desiccated corpse has limited its mobility, maybe due to being stuck in rigor mortis. Pharaohmon is also a mummy, but the sarcophagus and death mask it wears are more specific references to ancient Egyptian funerary rites. It was the absolute ruler of the ancient Digital World and many ruins from its reign dot the land. It can produce a flesh-eating mist to attack and will only cure those affected if they swear eternal servitude to Pharaohmon. This is a clear reference to the idea of a mummy's curse.
Digimon has a lot of vampires, so many I'm only going to showcase one of them. If you want to see more, look for Dracmon, Grandracmon, Bastemon, and Sangloupmon. The one I'll cover here is the vampirest of vampires, Myotismon (JP: Vamdemon). He absolutely looks like a cheesy vampire Halloween costume, but do not let yourself think that he's not scary. Myotismon is immensely cruel and cunning, being a classic evil mastermind while also being very capable of throwing down in a fight by summoning swarms of bats and hypnotizing others into serving him. A testament to his skills at villainy is that he was the big bad of what most fans consider to be the best story arc of Digimon Adventure, the original and definitive Digimon anime, and returned as the big bad of the sequel. Mytoismon has several evolutions including VenomMyotismon, MaloMyotismon (BelialVamdemon), and NeoMyotismon, but the OG is the most Halloweeny of them all. His English names comes from a genus of bat while his original name is literally vampire + demon
Evil clowns are a newer Halloween icon, but are a great one and Digimon offers two: Jokermon and Piedmon. Jokermon is a newer Digimon that has been used as a preevo for Piedmon. It is an enigma that randomly appears on battlefiends, cutting down one side with no rhyme or reason and for its own unknown purposes. Piedmon (JP: Piemon) is also an enigma, a being that appeared from another dimension. Its origins and goals are a complete unknown, but it has incredible power and it thoroughly malicious. It served as a major villain in Digimon Adventure and was one of the most powerful Digimon in that setting, soloing almost all of the heroic Digimon at once. That show also emphasized its cruelty as it decided to sadistically chase and torment the youngest human characters instead of just finishing them off. Its english name comes from the pied piper while its original name comes from the pierrot character archetype form pantomime.
What happens when you merge two Halloween monsters? Well apparently when Myotismon and Piedmon merge they become Boltboutamon (JP: Voltobautamon), a vampiric pirate. It is a being with no will of its own that serve as the herald of an entity called the Grudgeful Hand, an evil intellect born from malicious data that seeks to drown the world in darkness. It or its master is a sadist that takes its time to kill its foes and revels in their suffering. Its original name comes from the volto and bauta, both venetian masks. Its English name appears to be a poor transliteration. There's a lot of that in Digimon.
Those are all great spooky Digimon, but is there a Digimon that is the Halloweeniest? Why yes there is: Pumkinmon and its evolution NoblePumpkinmon (JP: Pumpmon and NoblePumpmon). They were born from a computer virus created during Halloween, but are not malicious. Pumpkinmon is a mostly peaceful Digimon that is shy and wants friends. It is adorable and I love it. NoblePumpkinmon tries to befriend all Digimon and remains neutral between good and evil. It is charming and mischievous and gets along well with both heroic and villainous Digimon. It even makes pumpkin pie. Of all the Digimon showcased here, I think NoblePumpkinmon is the most appropriate for Halloween. This is a holiday of scares and horror, but it's all in good fun.

Phelesmon here is another random V-Pet Digimon, this one being from the D-Scanner 3.0.

An Astamon dating a very shy Phelesmon. He always covers his face like the one in Xros Wars did. Astamon still adores him anyway.
An Astamon dating a very shy Phelesmon
Phelesmon doesn't like to show his face. Really, he doesn't like to be the center of attention at all, and it's why he tends to cover up much more than most Phelesmon do. Perhaps it makes him an odd one out, but he doesn't care. When Astamon first tried to befriend him, he could hardly speak....
And now they were dating. How it happened? Mostly Astamon breaking through Phelesmon's shy barriers and managing to find interests they both enjoy. One thing led to another and Astamon couldn't help but ask if he would like to date. He could care less if Phelesmon prefers to hide away with the clothes he wears and using his wigs to conceal himself. Astamon adores the look, so different from most Phelesmon.
Astamon is very gentle, and his kindness towards Phelesmon is unrivaled. He completely understands that Phelesmon would just rather hide than be center of attention, and Astamon makes sure that his mate doesn't have to deal with eyes constantly on him.
Astamon is a gentleman, and always does the talking for Phelesmon. He can do it himself, but he prefers to let Astamon take the reigns with it a lot of the time since it's easier that way. He's always so ready to help, so why not let him do it for Phelesmon? Astamon is far too kind about it, Phelesmon doesn't know how he managed to get the attention of the other Digimon in the first place.
Phelesmon does prefer to show his affection when they're alone. He likes to hold Astamon's hand at most when they're out and about, and when they're alone together is when he shows his appreciation and loves to snuggle close to his beloved. Astamon can't help but drape his coat over Phelesmon when the other falls asleep on him when he manages to sneakily get up from the cuddle position that Phelesmon had chosen. He always likes to surprise the demon-like Digimon with his favourite snacks when he wakes up from such a nap.
Phelesmon really doesn't know wat he did to deserve such a Digimon in his life. He hated attention on him, and it did take a bit to warm up to Astamon, and he's glad he did. Astamon adores him so, near unconditionally at that. It's far too sweet of him, Phelesmon thinks.

Now I need Throb Zombie as Phelesmon so hard!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ever since my partner got me into the new Digimon TCG, I try to keep up with new releases and teasers. Not neccessarily to buy them, usually just so I can see the pretty art.
Anyway, Feresmon got a new card teased and...
HOLY T-BOY SWAG BATMAN!!
Look at this cocky little shit! 10 gallons of snark in a 5-foot nothing container. This goofy little dork hasn't worn a shirt since the tiddy got deleted. And those two weirdos pal-ing around with him? Those aren't his evil minions, they're the two alt/goth baby trans he's adopted.
So yeah, Feresmon confirmed queer icon.
(I am like only half joking here. Also go play the Digimon TCG)

Personal Angoramon BEM walkthrough
It's finally time I start a new BEM. Although this wasn't on my wishlist, the new BEMs will take a long time before they arrive, so I ordered this just to kill time. And since I've already completed both Gammamon and Imperialdramon BEMs, adventure mission will be a lot easier. Also, the new VBBE update introduced items, which can boost stat gain and accelerate evolution time. That's a good QoL improvement right there. It's going to be a lot easier compared to when I was raising the first two BEMs.
Keep in mind that I want specific Ultimates to be the leftovers, so these paths might not be optimal effort-wise. Also, the numbering is only for me to keep track of how many new Digimons I've already unlocked. They do not represent the order I have to go through.
Clear all adventure missions first - Completed
Mega paths:
Diarbbitmon: 1. Pyonmon > 2. Bosamon > 3. Angoramon > 4. Siesamon > 5. Bastemon > 6. Diarbbitmon
Marsmon: Angoramon > 7. Publimon > 8. Oleamon > 9. Marsmon
Grandacmon: Angoramon > 10. Dogmon > 11. Cerberumon > 12. Grandracmon
Piedmon: Angoramon > Dogmon > 13. Digitamamon > 14. Piedmon
Plutomon: Angoramon > Siesamon > 15. Hippogriffomon > 16. Plutomon
Ultimate paths:
Lamortmon: Angoramon > 17. Symbareangoramon > 18. Lamortmon
Matadormon: 19. Dracmon > 20. Sangloupmon > 21. Matadormon
Mephismon: Dracmon > Sangloupmon > 22. Mephismon
Phelesmon: Dracmon > Sangloupmon > 23. Phelesmon
By the time I complete this (or not), the new BEMs will have already arrived. And trust me, I'm more excited to raise them. So I might not buy Jellymon BEMs for a long while.
