Hear me out.
Artoria in Twisted Wonderland.
Tumblr media
I AM DEFINITELY COOKING! (No, it's not copium shush. 🤫 ) So to just continue on that crossover:
Many Twisted Wonderland Players/Enjoyers knows of "The Ghost Brides Event" (or "The Phantom Bride" in ENG).
During the event, we play through a hilarious sequence of sad attempts of seduction (RIP).
Although, to be completely fair, practically no one in NRC fitted the absurd list of the "Perfect Prince" that (the ghost princess to be wedded) Eliza was looking for. (Even Idia, who she was marrying. 😭)
Now to where I am going with this? Very simple, I pondered (brainrotted):
Who WOULD classify as the most perfect suitor for the Ghost Bride (or Eliza) just from her list? Or at least who checks out the most boxes from that peculiar list?
That list being (simplified and paraphrased down to): Do you sing? Do you have a dog? Do you have a legendary sword? Are you over 180 centimeters tall? In all, are you a gentleman?
With me then going: 🤔 "Holy moly, isn't that Artoria?" To "It's Artoria...?" To finally "Nope definitely Artoria. It has got to be Artoria, absolutely zero questions asked."
And for those don't know who Artoria is, it's this lovely knight. 🥰
Tumblr media
Quick summary: Saber or rather known as Artoria Pendragon, is the genderbent version of King Arthur Pendragon. The one who pulled the sword (Caliburn) from the stone. The legendary King of Knights known to use a mythical sword called Excalibur. She originally came from a franchise called "Fate/Stay Night," although now, there are many variations of her across the media of "Type-Moon: The Nasuverse."
I'm sure many know of the game "Fate Grand Order" so I'll make the assumption that many know what I'm talking about because I'm too lazy to type it out but here's the link for Saber's variants (AKA, Saberface) and additional info if anyone is curious. 👀
Now going back to my main point, Artoria is the perfect suitor for the Ghost Bride that fits her ridiculous list (except height wise). Artoria is very charismatic (cough "Personal Skill: Charisma B" cough) so I'm almost positive the Phantom Princess Eliza will definitely fall for Artoria!
So that just means Artoria is the absolute best and perfect groom (or bride, both honestly, and that's definitely not me being bias haha–):
Just to clarify and expand:
Artoria has a dog named Cavall II who belongs to one of her (altered) variants but technically it's still Artoria (just different timeline and all that jazz).
And if we are going even more with the animal specifics, during the event, didn't Epel bring a horse? For the princely vibe? ARTORIA HAS A HORSE! NAMED DUN STALLION! Artoria and her entourage of groomsmen (attendants?) to sell the vibe that she's a foreign royalty (which technically she is lol–) here to attend the wedding and possibly captivate the Princess!
She even has her legendary sword! Although technically it wasn't passed down from generation to generation but it's EXCALIBUR? So it definitely still counts!
Then to the last point, Artoria CAN sing (looking at Mysterious Idol X Alter discreetly), so it all works out! 👍
youtube
In all, Artoria can definitely charm the Ghost Bride! She's a chivalrous knight! An awe-inspiring and graceful picture of a gentleman (or gentlewoman in this case?) who is also royalty! A King at that.
Lol, I kind of brainrotted a bit too much on this subject that I even have plot lines, notes, and drabble just on this very specific crossover of Artoria in Twisted Wonderland (with not just the ghost bride event!) This crossover can definitely be expanded on! There is just so much brimming possibilities that I can't stop thinking of them!
Just the amount of ideas I have! Like to those who know about Artoria. You can see what I mean right? It isn't just me! (Although if I did create this fic, don't examine it too closely. 💀)
Although I wasn't sure whether or not to continue because it's a kind of on and off thing. BUT! I always go back to it because Artoria is like my most favorite anime and gacha character.
Although my list of favorites are normally just characters I already liked but now are my current on and off fixation. 🙃
Artoria (or Saber, with her many other different variants of herself) is normally my reoccurring number one favorite character of my life (with the addition of Gray who's a Saberface)! She's in the list of favorite characters that will always stay there and appear back to: "What is my current obsession this time?"
Tumblr media
Dreamy sigh. She's gorgeous.

What visual medium would your fics be best represented by? (i.e. TV or Movie, live-action, traditional cartoon, anime, 3D animation, etc)
Oooh thank you!! This is super interesting!
So the short answer is that I tend to write my fics with the intent for them to "fit in" with the tone of their canon media - even in writing, I try to match the tone of whatever it is I'm writing about, so it really feels like a part of the established universe. My goal in writing is usually to make the reader forget that my OCs aren't canon characters and really to envelop them in that world as if they're reading something that belongs to canon.
That being said:
A Love Once New (Rae): I would say a movie to match the rest of the X-Men movies, but so much happens in this fics that I feel like it would be better represented by a TV show - I wouldn't want to miss the details or try to cram everything into a movie, so a TV show would help with that pacing. Live-action with practical effects and some CGI
Symphony in Silver (Robin): Live-action movie like the other X-Men movies, fit in somewhere between Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
Smoke and Mirrors (Madison): I could see this as a TV show, and honestly could go either way on live action vs animated. Live-action would fit the way I've imagined it more, but I think it could also be fun to see an animation similar to the classic X-Men cartoon (and animation would be better for Madison's mutations, since there are a lot of them and CGI could make it look a little wonky)
Catch and Release (Ophelia): I'd want the main thing to be a live-action movie (you're gonna hear this a lot... like I said, I generally try to match the tone/pace to canon), but Hobie's cameo would still be animated like he is in the ATSV.
Gia's fics: I don't have much written for her yet, but I could see her added to the Hawkeye TV show!
Heartstrings (Jasper): Live-action TV show, I've basically just added Jasper to AHS Coven
Taking Flight (Kestrel): This is an interesting one... a fic based on a book series, with no real visual components. I've heard Fablehaven may be getting a live-action reboot, but I honestly think Taking Flight would look best as a series of animated movies - either tradition 2D animation a la Brother Bear or Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, with painted landscapes and expressive but realistically-drawn animals; or a stylized 3D animation like we see in The Wild Robot. Either way, animation would complement the magic and natural themes of the fic, and be stylistic but not overly cartoony.
Who Waits Forever Anyway? (Katherine): I'd love to see a blended live-action and animated movie, where the main story is told in live-action but Katherine's interactions with the gods are a sort of artistic, stylized hand-drawn animation in the style of historic art (like the opening scene in Hercules with the Muses on the amphora, the flashbacks in Kung Fu Panda 2 that are like traditional Chinese paintings, the scene in Prince of Egypt with the hieroglyphs, etc.)
Desert Song (Quinn): All of my 6 Underground fics are based on the fact that 6 Underground was set up for sequels that then got cancelled, so it would be a big-budget live-action sequel like the first movie.
Eris' fics: Hm... Again, I'd go a little stylistic with it. In the main timeline, they do effectively fit into the 2021 Suicide Squad movie, so I see those as scenes implanted into the movie. But AU fics like Years Ahead or This Phantom Life, I could honestly see as animated in different styles - basically just give the script to a different animator each time and see what they come up with, like Star Wars: Visions.
Nikoletta's fics: Similar to Eris, I see some of her fics just being implanted scenes into The Suicide Squad, but I think I'd go the route of a spinoff TV show (a la Peacemaker) for the others. Her story's a bit more linear than Eris, so a traditional TV show would work better than an anthology for her.
Heart in Your Hands (Jimmy): Live-action movie! It follows the plot of Frozen Empire with the inclusion of Jimmy, anyway.
Vivienne's fics: This one's tough. Yes, it's based on a horror movie and will incorporate the plot of that horror movie, but I'm honestly writing it a bit more like the book! I'd definitely want it to be live-action, and go strictly practical effects for things like Vivienne's siren traits (maybe a little CGI for her eyes, like they do in The Shape of Water, but everything else should be makeup), but whether the pacing would be better with a movie (or series of movies) or a TV show is what I'm still not sure about.
Spider's fics: I'd want a live-action movie with a few "game-ified" elements, like Scott Pilgrim or Guns Akimbo - overlays up on the screen as Spider's categorizing his tapes, animated flairs or sparks surrounding his tape recorder, "+1 can of soup" as he picks up resources for survival, things like that. Basically, I'd want it to be live-action but with a focus on Spider's point of view, and his point of view is inspired by a lot of other movies and games. Oh, and the sound design had better be KILLER!
Terra & Pluto's fics: 3D animated TV, in line with Arcane itself. I mean, I designed the characters that way, I even made my best efforts to try and draw them in the Arcane style, and it would just fit best as part of that world.
Prometheus' Fics: Here's the thing... we're not supposed to SEE Prometheus. They don't have an established physical appearance beyond their clothing, and I want to keep it that way. They're meant to reflect the reader, and I wouldn't want that to be ruined by casting an actor and having people then imagine that actor when they think of the character. The solution... how about a first-person video game? It's about the only visual media I can think of that's commonly in a first-person perspective, and I think it could be interesting to give the players a level of control in Prometheus' story - that's the point, the first fic even has two endings so people can choose which they want to focus on!
Bolts and Blasters (Indigo): Live-action TV show - going back to ALON and S&M, there's a lot of plot to cover and a TV show would just help with the pacing more than a movie would. Plus, Star Wars has already done some high-quality TV shows, so I think a "spinoff" from the sequel movies would work here.

Phantom Stallion Timeline #5
[other PS Timeline posts]
Book 5: Free Again
*I literally always think this book’s name is Blind Faith; it is Not*
Summary: Sam accidentally ends up volunteering to help Trudy Alan fence in her yard after her horses escape. She thinks Trudy is scary, but really she is just a lonely old lady. Very sad. Brynna is out of town and Norman White takes over at BLM for like….a week. In this timeframe he manages to find a ton of horses he wants to euthanize because they’re unadoptable. Only!!! They’re not because Sam convinces Trudy to adopt them. Take that, Norm. One of them is pregnant and gives birth to a blind filly, Faith. Faith escapes, and Sam and Jake track her down again in the middle of a snowstorm. Sam takes a picture for a Night Contest of Jake holding Faith--it’s really cute if we are all honest.
Timeline: I...actually can’t find a month for this book. Book 4 was early October, so I would put it sometime late October/early November (but I still consider that fall and Sam mentions winter). It’s very cold though (obvs, the book ends in a snowstorm), and Sam talks about the “the harsh winter sunlight” (pg 90).
Ages: Sam 13, Jake 16 (in this book, Terri says Jake is two-and-a-half years older than Sam, which is probably the Most True to our timeline)
Notes:
In a scene that my friend and I often quoted growing up, Jake cuts off his cast. His mom is pissed and won’t talk to him. His dad says if he breaks it again, he’s on his own. His mom also will not speak to Luke. This is hilarious and a gem of a scene.
Darrell keeps calling Sam’s house and trying to talk to her at school.
Jake is Mad Jealous about this
Darrell just wants to give Sam a scoop on some hot shot football players making fake hall passes. Darrell is the “Bad Boy” but he wants to be Good. Sam makes him tell Mrs. Santos and he does (honestly tho….like why?)
This kid’s name is Kris, Terri has a thing about all the traditionally C names starting with K apparently
In this book, Clara’s has the best chocolate upside down cake in the world; I’m pretty sure in others it is pineapple. Perhaps this is seasonal
Nate and Brian Ely make an appearance (they help Sam and Jake with the fences at Mrs. Allen’s).
Jake also confronts Sam at school (it’s always fun seeing them interacting in a different element) and Sam calls him cranky (he Is). She also yells after him and Mrs. Ely doesn’t scold her for it though she overhears--Sam assumes this means Mrs. Ely knows her son can be irritating lol
Tbh I’d probably buy a Mrs. Allen Venus Flytrap painting
Every time Sam goes to Mrs. Allen’s and Mrs. Allen feeds her microwave dinners, Sam gets...So Excited. She talks about the “cute little boxes” in this one like girl, girl, pls they’re Frozen and Sad my college kid soul is crying
Nate’s horse is a gelding named Digger. I’m noting this here because I don’t think we ever see him again.

I see nice tags from @blackquills-wife, I want to keep writing ideas. So have a bunch of headcanons/fun facts about my SI-OCs for LoZ!!! Cause I’m thinking a LOT about this series rn. Obviously.
The very first incarnation of Ethel in the timeline- during the wars of Demise and Hylia- was a sickly young woman. Separated from humanity when Skyloft was formed (she didn’t get on the land in time to ascend with the rest of them), that is what made her within reach for Orona to obtain her soul.
This implies that she died just as young as the First Hero.
Originally, Ethel was supposed to be the “failed” heroine for Orona, where Aquaria was supposed to succeed. Over the years, they’ve both grown to have their darker moments and their brighter, happier moments.
Ethel is the name for most of the incarnations of Orona’s heroine. However, there’s also Evadne (Majora’s Mask and A Link Between Worlds), Aquaria (toon series), and Saorise (Link to the Past + The Legend of Zelda & Adventure of Link).
Ethel (and her incarnations) typically are paired with one: Link. However, this romance is typically unrequited...
Aquaria- when in a Four Swords deal- typically falls for Purple/Violet Link, addressing her connections to Orona. The only time this changes is in Tri-Force Heroes, where she ends up dating Blue. (Due to her name connection and the fact Vio isn’t canon to the game...for some reason...)
She’s also had a crush on Vaati. Again, with the purples.
In Skyward Sword, Ethel moves on from her crush on Link thanks to Groose, who also had moved on from his feelings for Zelda during the course of the story. They end up married and with kids...who would one day become the Gerudo race.
(Fi is just a major AU bc I think that sword spirit is really dang cute.)
There’s also Princess Ruto of the Zora from OoT... In one timeline, that sure happened.
Ganondorf is a minor crush throughout the main storyline, but Ethel’s incarnation in Hyrule Warriors has it for the King quite badly. (As well as a small crush on the hero, as usual.)
BotW sees Ethel fall for Link and Sidon...because really, who wouldn’t? (As well as a Gerudo OC I’m still trying to make, whoops.)
It’s said that- some 10,000 years ago- she also was deeply in love with a certain king from the desert..... Hmm! (BotW 2, help me.)
Over the years, various weapons and steeds have been bequeathed to these cursed heroines. Here are some notable ones:
Arion: A black and white pinto stallion from Ocarina of Time and BotW. A horse with attitude, he’s known to be rather troublesome and sassy, but does his best to make room for that and assisting his rider, Ethel.
Ghost Reaver: Ethel’s destined sword (the Master Sword to her Link) and originally introduced in Skyward Sword, with a sword spirit by the name of Castalia. Though now dormant for centuries- much like Fi- her being still echoes through the blade with a comforting, assuring warmth... Legends like to say the Ghost Reaver can cut down any foe- alive or dead- with ease. Thus, the blade’s name.
Raim: Aquaria’s bird companion in Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass. Large enough to ride, Aquaria can ride him instead of using a boat, which makes her seasick. He isn’t one for strangers, but adores Aquaria and is very protective of her.
Shadow Bow: Detailed in Hyrule Warriors, this bow allows Aquaria to shot arrows coated in black-purple malice at her enemies. The bow glows in the same energy. Tales say this bow and it’s supply of arrows feed off of anger and darkness to power it...
Celestial Cleaver: Named in HW, this is Evadne’s secondary weapon. It’s a blade that shines like an opal, with a decorated hit and guard. There seems to be a language on the blade, but none but Evadne, Fierce Deity, and the Giants can read it.
Trident of the Giants: A rare, four-pronged trident built in reverence to the Giants of Termina, wielded by Evadne, named in HW. This is her primary weapon. It’s a rust-red color (matching the giant’s skin color) except for the tips, which fade into a light green color.
Unnamed Loftwing: Ethel’s Loftwing in Skyward Sword. Though given no name (or perhaps, one that is lost to history), they made themselves remembered through time with his coloration: black with purple sheen in the light. Tailed, with red eyes, too; worried as a bad omen, but was simply Ethel’s temperamental partner. Over time, that became that. A calm creature, nurturing and sweet... Though nervous around strangers.
Honestly, pretty close to Impa, through the timelines. Sort of like a distant relative, where they’re awkward around each other, but do care, when it comes down to it. Impa is an inspiration for Ethel, and she has a motherly sort of view on Ethel, wishing her the best for the journey ahead.
Ethel once had a crush on Sheik. Never lived it down when the truth was revealed... (Though was one of her own incarnations earliest realizations of, “Oh, I am...not straight, actually.” Especially considering- in one timeline- she’d later fall for Princess Ruto.)
In Twilight Princess, Ethel takes on the form of a panther in the twilight. (It’s because I’m cat obsessed. We know this.) Alina is her companion of the twilight. (A Twili banished from her homeland many years ago. She’s survived by staying out of the sun, hiding in caves and tunnels.)
In OoT, Ethel has a fairy named Thera. Like how Navi is short for “Navigation”, Thera is short for “Therapist.” Because damn she be needing one...
Modern AU Ethel is a Mess. Orona gives her no peace.
Speaking of the Fourth, Exiled Goddess-!! She had a lover, once. Not Demise, but a being named Ryleh. Her powers influenced his creation- much in a similar way of Demise and the other three with Hylia- and the two ended up falling in love.
Orona- in my view- is a representative of Darkness and Shadow. And though there is some evil tied in there, it is not ALL of who she is. A misunderstanding that’s only gotten worse over the years, to the point where her existence has been denied in later years. (For an idea of this, by OoT, it’s but a little known myth. By the first of each three timelines post-OoT, it’s essentially gone from all records.)
Orona is sweet, just misled. Thinking she’s doing good when she is creating chaos and cruelty. Instead of being corrected, she was shunned and banished for her wrongdoing.
...Despite this, she took the soul of who would eventually become Ethel and waited. Because it didn’t take long for Orona to miss her sisters, and long to be with them again.

Phantom Stallion Timeline #3
this one got long and i want to be sorry but...i’m not. [previous tl posts]
Book 3: Dark Sunshine
Synopsis: (This is one of my very favorite books y’all are in for a Ride). Sam steals rescues a buckskin mare, Dark Sunshine, from rustlers (which I guess are different from wranglers as I have literally learned just now; I tried to google this and only got results for jeans--under different search parameters, I learned that rustling is theft and wrangling is being hired to handle an animal so mostly Not Legal vs Actually Legal). Also, Brynna starts HARP at River Bend Ranch, so Micki, a runaway 11/12 year old (her age changes but Sam calls a her a kid a lot as if Sam isn’t….13), and Popcorn, an abused mustang, are introduced. Micki sets the barn and bunkhouse on fire (don’t smoke, Kids, you’ll destroy property and also your larynx; I know because I just took a test on this it’s very Gross); Dark Sunshine runs away with the Phantom in the chaos. In the end, Sam and Jake catch Flick, the rustler (not Wrangler), who had made an appearance in Book 1 being equally Awful, Sam keeps Dark Sunshine, and everything turns out Okay for Mikki (yay!) (Also Sam learns to be a little more empathetic to People also) (People meaning Mikki) (And not just Horses) (it’s character growth okay!!). And Dark Sunshine and the Phantom are having a baby! Very exciting.
Timeline: September  (“Sam could have slept in on this September Saturday--pg 1); it’s just a few weeks after Book 2, but “just a few weeks/months” is a PS trend I notice to summarize previous events that does not...necessarily make timeline sense (here it does since it’s still early in the series)
Ages: Sam--13 (pg 80). Jake is 3 years older than Sam (16) (his birthday is in book 4 though).
Mikki on page 55 is 12 and then on page 84 is 11; I’ll stick with 11 because I think that’s what Terri wants her to be.
Notes:
Seth shows up!!!!! The Ely boys are like the entire Volunteer Fire Department, and the only brother mentioned by name is Seth. Alas, we never, ever see Seth again. I used to call him the Missing Eli Brother, but then Terri came out with that novella so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That one time Slocum has known Luke Ely for at least two years and says to Sam something like “hey let Jake Ely’s dad--what’s his name??? Luke???--know!” Bruh.
This COULD be a way of introducing him to us but like Terri has never had a problem saying their names in the narrative.
Also Sam has just rescued Linc after he’s fallen off Champ whoopsiedaisy
WYATT KISSES BRYNNA AFTER THE FIRE
Sam is Not Pleased
Jake is embarrassed bc he thought his parents were having A Moment that Sam witnessed, which, tbh, was also a sweet moment
This is also the book where Jake mentions that he’s his mom’s baby!!! He is!!! He’s only 16 and he’s the youngest of her sons, he’s a baby!!!
This book is chock full of good Sake moments tbh
Sam hugs Jake after the fire
Darrel gives Sam an approving nod when she ambushes Jake at lunch (Darrel is 100% all about his bro Jake getting with Sam in literally every book we see him in so I Approve of Darrel) (even if he didn’t get EVEN COOLER in later books lmao)
“You only have to be 16 to get married in Reno.”
Context? What context?
(fine if you don’t remember it’s because she’s trying to tell Jake what she overheard one of the rustlers saying and then SURPRISE he’s right behind her so she has to make something up Fast)
Jake is PISSED about it it’s glorious
(Can Sam even pass for 16??)
That one time Jake had to throw a gun off a cliff because he was afraid he was gonna use it when Flick threatened Sam
When Jake tells Sam, even after he’s used up his personal word quota for a conversation, that he doesn’t want to see her get her heart broken if they have to put Sunny down
Sam doesn’t know what guns are; Flick mentions Dr. Winchester, and Sam thinks that means there’s a third person. Sweet child.
Sam also “Not All Men”’s Mikki
Flick bought Rachel Slocum a coffee and he got some hot goss from the neighborhood out of her but………..she’s like 15/16??? That’s a lil creepy
Flick is overall creepy
Also racist he hates Jake for being Shoshone
All-around not a good Dude
Linc has a Brahama-que; I don’t think there’s much more interesting beyond Sam and Jake bursting in to tell everyone about Flick. Also the name.
Brynna in a lacy sundress looking for her handcuffs though man she is a Good Character
Sam gives Mikki her horse-hair bracelet at the end of the book. This comes up later so noting it now.
Sam’s mom is the reason she likes the river--she used to go out when she was pregnant and couldn’t sleep to calm little bb in the womb Sam and then they took Sam out as a baby to settle her down too. A very sweet Wyatt-Sam moment--those sometimes get overlooked (at least by me) bc Sam is always in Trouble lol
I haven’t gotten to the second HARP book yet (it’s #13 I actually just started it), but Jake’s a lot better in this one than I remember him being in that one (meaning...not as Shy™) (there is only one kid this go ‘round and she’s 11/12 so maybe that helps)
That one time MIkki wanted to fight Jake tho Solid Moment

Phantom Stallion Timeline
here it is, the posts nobody asked for, but I warned y’all and here I am, actually doing it! I started with the first two books a couple years ago, taking notes, but I’ve gotten a bit more detailed later on. We’ll see how this develops!
Book 1: The Wild One
Synopsis: Sam returns home after two years away, the very next day they leave to move the cattle; Sam realizes the Phantom is Blackie and also she adopts Buddy. We meet Brynna at BLM, Flick brings the Phantom in, and BLM lets him go.
Timeframe: Summer; school hasn’t started yet.
Ages: Sam is 13, Jake is 16 (this is uh Questionable to me--and will be important in later books and also almost entirely why I started this timeline-- but the book says “he looked a lot older than sixteen” on pg 13). He also only has his learner’s permit (Wyatt lets Jake drive his truck to Willow Springs) at the start of the book, but by page 180 he tested for his license in Reno and passed. Also Pepper, if it matters, is a year older than Jake, so about 17.
At the time of the accident, Sam had “barely turned eleven” (pg 4) and Jake was same age Sam is now (13) (pg 140). So they’re ~2-3 years apart. Blackie/the Phantom was 2, making him about 4 at the time of the book.
It’s implied Linc Slocum has only been in Nevada about a year (Gram says “This time last year the closest he’d been to a cow was a T-Bone steak” (pg 47).
In this book Jake is the youngest of six brothers (this fluctuates throughout the series so I’m making note of it now).
(The BLM has a worker that Sam calls Bale Thrower in this book, Bale Tosser in later books but his name is actually Hugh and I guess Sam just Forgets this later on)
another side note is that Ryan Slocum is also supposed to be in Nevada at this time; Linc mentions buying him a hunter and Jake says he thought Ryan was going to be learning to rodeo and Linc answers not if his mother has anything to say about it, which she does apparently. Ryan doesn’t actually come to Nevada from England until book 6

Phantom Stallion Timeline #4
[other timeline posts]
Book 4: The Renegade --X Ambassadors plays softly in the background--
Summary: The Phantom has gone MIA and Sam is V. Concerned. Some rodeo lady Karla Starr has also been hanging around Linc Slocum. Surely, these two events are only a Coincidence. Also Sam gets kicked off the bus for Being Dumb, Rachel wants to be a Rodeo Queen™ because Ryan is now coming home at Christmas, Sam ends up trying to teach Rachel to ride because $$$$$ (this goes about as well as expected), and there’s A Lot of Rain.
Timeline: late September/early October. Jake’s birthday is supposed to be October 1, according to book 2, and that happens about halfway through this book (it’s a Thursday).
Ages: Sam is 13, Jake turns 16 (though he’s allegedly been 16 the past several books) (I’m really just gonna assume Terri rounds up).
Notes:
Rachel rides double with Jake and Sam is Mad Jealous about it
Jake breaks his leg! I don’t know why this is such a good scene to me but even when we see Jake get emotionally vulnerable (a la reliving The Accident in Book 1), we rarely (especially at this point so early in the series) see him vulnerable at all/see other people have to take care of him
She mentions that the Elys were all at the hospital by the time Wyatt left and I’m wondering if she means ALL or like did a brother or two stay at home, man the fort, not take up space in a car, etc. I’m just saying, there’s A Lot of them to crowd the hospital lol (also if Kit existed in this book, he’d be off rodeo’ing)
I’m on book 14 currently and Linc’s new Cronie of the Week is a man named Karl. I hope he and Karla are related somehow.
Rachel and Ryan’s stepfather is a baron (“or something”) which is a Really Fun Tidbit. I assume Linc just lets Rachel get away with more (or that she doesn’t get along with her mom) and that’s why she chose Nevada over London. It does seem like their mom might be slightly less Batshit than Luke but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Darrel!!!!
We actually get to finally interact with Darrell and he is a GEM
He’s very Disappointed Jake can’t go drag racing with them (when does Jake have time to do this in a normal week is my question)
ONLY wears baggy pants
Takes his bb cousin to the fair and definitely loses him
Sam doesn’t know what drag races are when Darrell mentions them and pictures Horse Pulling. Sweet child
Dallas is in this book a lot, and he is ALSO a gem. Between him and Gram we get a Good Healthy Dose of Old Western Folk Wisdom. Also Dallas totally caves to Sam and lets her talk her dad into letting them go stake out a rodeo.
Mrs. Ely asks Sam what she’s doing over the weekend after Jake breaks his leg because she thought Sam might want to come over and keep Jake company
Jen’s mom is named Lila in this book. She has a faint Texas accent.
Karla Starr kinda tries to flirt with Wyatt (it’s clearly a Business Tactic) and Sam wishes Brynna were there
Dr. Scott shows up for the first time in this book! And then he never stops vetting!

Phantom Stallion Timeline #2
Book 2: Mustang Moon
Synopsis: A hammer-head stallion is stealing domestic mares, and the Phantom is getting the blame. Sam starts school, meets Jen, starts school, and discovers her talent for photography. Also Linc Slocum buys a hotshot appaloosa filly (a two-year-old)  named Apache Hotspot, who gets stolen by Hammer. Sam clears the Phantom’s name through the Power of Photography and also wins some money.
Timeline: Two weeks after Book 1; it’s August (pg 9; Gram was fretting over a butterfly caught in a spider’s net--relatable--until a “hot August wind” blew it away; Sam also mentions the “late August sun” on page 89). Near the end, Sam mentions Jake has had his license about a month (pg 205). He gets his license near the end of book 1.
Ages: Jake is “sixteen, just over two years older” (pg 4). Also, his birthday is October 1st (pg 16) (I’m an October baby so this is inexplicably pleasing to me). I wondered in my notes if Terri had jumped the gun calling him 16 and that he was actually turning 16 in six weeks (pg 101), but in Book 7, he says flat-out “I’m 16” so he just...turns 16 again? Who knows
Sam is still 13 and “starting her first year of high school” (pg 29). Jen is a freshman with her.
Rachel is a sophomore (pg 170)
Notes/Fun Details:
In this book, Jake is the youngest of six brothers (as I said, this fluctuates so I’m noting it in every book).
Jake ropes Buddy so they can brand her.
Jen’s mom is named Lila. This is important because, at some point, I’m pretty sure  it changes.
This book has the delightful line delivered by some Superior Nerd Boy on Sams’ bus: “Yeah, like a ghost cares about mortal mares”
Another fun tidbit: Their parents don’t approve, but the Ely boys have a reputation for fighting (pg 110)
Sam calls after Jake while he and his brothers all pile into the truck and they all TEASE him and one imitates Sam calling his name in a high pitched voice WONDERFUL (also as a s/n one of Jake’s brothers speaks in this book, but none of them are named. This one is only identified because he injured his hand).
At this point, Brynna has given Wyatt her home phone number 😏
Jen’s hero is Albert Einstein and she’s letting Sam buy her a poster of him with the reward money

Note
hi yes hello do you think you'll ever continue the phantom stallion timeline posts you were doing a while back because i just stumbled across them and they're rlly rlly good ok bye
i actually was just thinking about this (someone liked one of the posts recently possibly you lol). I started these in grad school and then got like busy with actual grad school, I never intended to not finish but also i am ok if it's a noncomplete project haha
i have also moved 3x since then so i'm not 100% sure where my copies are but i think they would be not hard to track down
(so like....maybe? is the answer? sorry that is not conclusive! i'm glad you enjoyed them!)

I think when I finish treasure island (I’m pretth close to being done) I’ll go back to the phantom stallion timeline no one else cares about that I started a couple years back. It’s a low key, easy project to take a break from anatomy
