Sakura Kyoko – Red Phantom

Kyoko’s Semblance allows her to create a single clone which is identical to herself. Unlike Blake Belladonna’s Shadow, this act does not grant Kyoko a burst of velocity in any given direction, so Kyoko cannot use it to dodge attacks and vanish from line-of-sight.

However, Kyoko’s clone can move and act like Sun Wukong’s basic clones, or Blake’s advanced versions. Kyoko uses her clone to confuse her pursuer about which retreating figure is the real one, or to double-team a single opponent and get in more hits than she takes.

Kyoko’s clone mimics her mass, her strength, and even her weapon, but a single decent hit dispels it. With greater mastery, she can make it tougher, or make more than one.

Discord screen sharing!

I think most people have Discord nowadays (and if you don’t, get it, it is eight million times better than Skype and requires way less personal information)

If you have a chat of up to 9 members, just hit that video call button

After the call starts, hit the “Screen Share” icon

Click the “Application Window” tab, then select the window that has Netflix/Hulu/Youtube/whatever open

Make sure that the “sound” toggle is on so that people can hear the sound playing in that window

And then once it’s shared, just pull up your Netflix/Youtube/whatever window up and press play! 

Only that window will be shared, so you can go back to the Discord window and chat with people without interrupting the video. You can voice chat over it as well, if you want!

The highest video settings without Nitro are 30fps, but when I tested it the video and audio were both pretty good. Better than rabbit, according to the friend I was testing it with. :D

But overall, it seems like this is the best option compared to the limited rabbit alternatives I’ve tested so far.

Tagged by @jaywrites101​. (OK, if you’ve read any of these, you probably know the drill by now: “read” and “book” can and will be substituted with “watch/play” and “story.” Because I don’t actually read all-that-many books, but I consume mountains of stories in other formats.)

1: What book have you read a million times and would read a million times more? And why?

I will never get tired of watching Durarara!! I LOVE the characters, their dynamics, the twisty plot that just keeps building on itself -- and I never seem to stop noticing little character quirks or hidden details!

2: Which OC of your current wip did you come up with first?

Not many OCs going on at the moment. And by that I mean, I have none that I can actually TELL you about right now. Try again in a few months, lol!

3: What piece of world-building gave or is giving you the most trouble?

Believe it or not, the freaking Marauders’ Map was a headache-and-a-half to figure out workable mechanics that didn’t give Danny away. Thankfully, JK gave us little enough to go on for how it works that I could more-or-less make it up.

(If you’re interested in how I decided the Map works in PM: The Map shows the Hogwarts’ ghosts because they are “tied” to the Grounds, but it would not show a non-tied ghost if one was to appear. It DOES NOT show dementors because, while they are tangible and sentient beings, they do not have names. Phantasm physiology is closer to that of a dementor than a ghost, but in this case, the ectoplasmic/non-corporeal nature of his body wins out. In this case, the Map treats him like a “non-tied ghost,” rather than a “named dementor.”

I decided on these mechanics for plot reasons because we aren’t told about the Map showing unnamed animals OR dementors in the books.)

4: What type of scene is your favorite to write? Why?

I love writing scenes with lots of suspense and moving parts! Any scene that I can see playing out in my head like a movie, I absolutely LOVE putting on a page. (Such as the opening fight scenes in PM, the biting/kissing part of the OSW “Chocolate Blood,” or Hiyori’s temper-tantrum in OSW “Petty Irreplaceable”)

5: (Stealing this one) What chapter of your main wip is your favorite? Why?

Ah! Finally a question I can (kind of) answer using Crossroad of Infinity!

My favorite chapter WILL (probably) be the final chapter of the book. ... Y’know, actually... My favorite chapters of longer WIPs almost always ARE the last (or second-to-last, in the case of PM) chapters. Huh...

6: If your OCs the characters in your WIP were transplanted into another genre (say, fantasy to sci-fi or sci-fi to horror), what would their new occupations be?

Well, we’ve lived through just about everything... Yo, Noctu! You answer this one. I’m running on empty here.

(Seriously? No crazy color fonts on PC? It’s Pride Month, you losers! Come fix this!) “Occupations” huh? Heh. Tess once was a barma-

AAAAAANNNNDDD that was a mistake. I really should’ve known better. Noctu has been bored out of their mind in this dimension.

Can you really blame me? There’s NOTHING interesting or different about this world’s physics! I’ve seen all of this a million times. ... LITERALLY!!!

7: How well would you survive if you were dropped into the world of your main wip?

We HAVE lived them! CofI is LITERALLY OUR LI-

8: Which of your OCs is the scariest, or if none are scary, which is the sweetest? Why?

[ (<< ) Wait for Noctu to lose intereeeessst.... Aaaand GONE!] You wouldn’t know it by how they’ve been acting recently, but Noctu is basically “the Mom/Dad.” They get attached SUPER easily, and once they do, they go straight into “protecc-mode!” As for scary, that’d be me. ...We go to great pains sometimes to keep me from getting “hungry.”

9: What would you say was the one thing that sparked the idea for your main wip?

For Phantasma Magica, I didn’t actually come up with it -- I adopted the fic from Atrieisan YEARS ago. But the main PLOT TWIST/cliffhanger was all me. The idea for THAT occurred when I was rewatching the Prisoner of Azkaban movie one day and wondered “So what would happen if-”(you can fill this in after PM is over)

10: Describe the space you write in like you’re telling a story.

I wait for the noise to disappear from the house. A last call of “Goodnight” hits my ears through the door -- and I emerge. All is quiet and dark. I make my way by memory to the lamp, and the room is lit with a soft glow. I can see the driveway through the large window taking up half the wall. There’s a soft woosh as the occasional car passes by. I set the lap-tray down on the couch and fetch my snack: some beef jerky, an orange, a cup of water, and maybe some coffee and some crackers. I sit and place the blanket over my feet, move the tray over me lap, grab the laptop from the table beside me -- and my night begins.

Perhaps I’ll start with some episodes of Tsubasa. I need to eat first to think clearly anyway, so I might as well continue the series. I want to fulfill that OSW request, after all...

11: What is the first thing you remember reading and thinking ‘This inspires me to write’?

The very first fanfic I ever wrote was a Danny Phantom one on the nickelodeon website. (It has long since been deleted by the people in charge of the forum for lack of interaction with or updates on the post.) This was almost a decade ago, though, so I don’t remember much about it. It was an OC-insert and there was something about Ember’s sister also being a music-themed ghost, but preferring acoustic/country...?

Phantasma Magica

Okay so it turns out that Danny Phantom was the worst possible old show to get a sudden and inexplicable hyperfixation on, because apparently the fandom's been going full tilt since 2004.

Usually when I get a hyperfixation outta nowhere for a completed series, I spend a week, maybe two going through old fanfiction and fanart, and then I burn through what's left, and then I'm done.

Danny Phantom has a pile of fanfiction and fanart that's been growing steadily since, and I cannot emphasize this enough, 2004, and there are still people putting out multiple things every single day. I'm already like 20 AUs in and I've been up till 2:00am every single night this week because I've found a new enormous fascinating fanfic that was so good I could not physically make myself sleep until I finished it.

1: When starting something new, how much do you know about the story before you start writing?

I make sure I know all the important plot points and character dynamics. If it’s a bigger project (like Phantasma Magica), I’ll have a main outline and minor, more detailed ones for each chapter/portion of the WIP I plan to write that day.

2: What draws you to your WIP(s)? Why did you choose to write that/those over anything else?

Desire, really. If wouldn’t want to read it, I don’t write it. In the case of the OSWs, a lot of the time making it into something I’d enjoy reading is part of the challenge!

3: Favorite writing spot? Why?

The living room couch. It is comfy. ... Ok, it’s the only comfy spot that I can use my laptop with. My options are there, the kitchen table (I can feel the ache from the wooden chair already), or my bed (again, the ache in my back from no back support... *shudders*).

4: Share your favorite line of what you’ve written so far!

Uhhh... ^^: Can’t. Not even for Phantasma Magica. Spoilers. Biiiiiig spoilers....

5: If you had to choose one OC to bring to life as an actual person, which one would it be and why?

Hmmm... I don’t really have any, at the moment.

6: Are you looking to get published? If so, do you hope to make it a career?

Yes, and yes. Although I plan on self-publishing.

7: What’s something you’d read but you’d never write? (Or the other way around?) Any reason?

8: What’s something you’re most proud of about your work so far?

It’s a slow process (as expected), but Phantasma Magica is gaining more and more interest, and I’m getting more OSW requests.

Crossroad of Infinity: Author blatantly writes a self-insert as a gimmick. Phantasma Magica: A cartoon character goes through self-esteem issues when he’s forced to run errands in a magic school without even being paid for his trouble. One-Shot Wednesdays: An author writes a new story for free each week for random people on the internet.

10: Why did you want to be a writer?

I want to share the stories in head with people in the hopes that some of them will be helpful for the people who read them.

"Weirdward" - 90k+, Complete. When Sirius and Remus are asked to travel all the way to America to recruit a powerful new ally for the Order, they expect to be gone for months, tracking this potential ally and satisfying his demands. When he asks them instead, his only demand, to teach three 15 year old teenagers magic, well. It wasn't like they were there on orders of the headmaster of Hogwarts, were they?

"The Eldritch Wizard" - 9k, Ongoing, still in early DP canon. Sometimes Danny wishes that he never stepped foot inside of the Fenton Portal, that everything hadn't changed./Back when he had more time to goof around with his friends, and he wasn't always in trouble. When all he dreamed about was Dash shoving him into a locker, or Paulina finally saying yes to a date with him./But he did./Now his days are spent fighting ghosts, not just fending off school bullies. His dreams are filled with ghost fights, electricity, and a woman with red hair and green eyes; of places and people that he could never quite remember after waking up./Everything had changed, and Danny had a feeling that as bad as things are right now......../They were about to get a lot worse.

"The Phantom and the Potter" - 24k, Ongoing. After finding out that Ilvermorny has absolved themselves of all responsibility regarding one Daniel James Fenton, Dumbledore decides to offer him a place at Hogwarts instead. This...may prove to be a mistake./Following Danny as he gets involved with Hogwarts' own troublesome trio, creates his own, sends the entire wizarding ghost world into a tizzy, pisses off a Dark Lord, and generally runs from his problems. What could possibly go wrong?

"Jazz Fenton and the Arcane Awakening" - 9k, Oneshot. Jazz has magic. She’s a witch. And when she’s offered a chance to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, her little brother insists on tagging along.

"Unfamiliar Territory" - 24k, Unfinished. Everyone knew Dumbledore was a little loopy, but no one expected him to create a "ghost hunting" class, much less one that was run by some wacky American. Having never experienced muggle ghosts, Hogwarts is in for a rude awakening this year…

"Walk Three Worlds" - 53k, Complete. AU after The Ultimate Enemy, spoilers for Deathly Hallows. Danny is forced to move in with Vlad after the Nasty Burger explosion, and refuses to make the same mistakes twice.

Mmm I consumed many a DPxHP watt pad fic, back in the day. Though I have exchanged the solo-cup for chalice (watt to Ao3) the poison remains the familiar.

So, how do y’all like it?

I personally find the “He and his family know abt hogwarts their entire lives, and send him there in the first year” kinda boring as a premise.

Pretty bland, but if he ends up there when he’s older and transfers in for whatever reason- and he’s just wading in a crowd of children,,, idk I just like reading those parts jahskak,, over all, pretty vegan salad-y nothing too hinky

But uh,, you writers… y’all really do the most huh

BAM HES A DRAGON. Absolutely hilarious that this is an actual trope I’ve seen multiple times used to introduce him to the wizarding world. I love u so much this is such a fun way to force character interaction, and divorces Danny further from its source material y’all are bonkers I love u

Phantasma Magica Ch. 12

STORY SUMMARY

Clockwork and the Observants send Danny to Hogwarts on a special mission. But, cryptic as ever, that Old Stopwatch never actually told him what would happen on it!!! “All you need to do right now, Daniel, is stay focused on your mission. And remember, the-” “‘The Lions with the time-turner, lightning-bolt scar, and hair like fire are friends; watch out for the rat; and the black dog is not a threat.’ Yeah, you’ve only repeated that a few dozen times today.”

Dumbledore and the other adult wizards -- along with much of the staff, who, of course, had noticed the commotion -- drove the dementors back to their posts. Ron, Hermione, and Sirius were ordered to go to the Hospital Wing to recover. Then, with everyone else distracted by their own tasks, Danny followed Dumbledore and the Minister of Magic up to Dumbledore’s office.

Danny couldn’t remember what the Headmaster had said to convince him to come. But as long as the old wizard didn’t attack him again, Danny didn’t care. ‘Harry…’

The door closed behind them with a soft thud. The Minister was pacing. “Dumbledore, what do we do? What do we DO?! When the Prophet hears about this-” “Please, Minister. We must remain calm.” “Yes, yes. You’re right. But the Boy-!” For the first time since heading toward the school, the Minister looked at Danny. He was a frightening sight -- Danny didn’t need to look in a mirror to know that: slitted pupils, claws that were dripping with whatever replaced blood in a dementor, glowing, and holding a human soul… The Minister didn’t dare meet his eyes.

But Dumbledore did. Standing in the middle of the strange room he called an office, his voice was impossibly calm. “Mr. Phantasm.” Danny broke out of his daze, but his voice was… listless. ‘Harry…’ “... Yes?” “This might be far-fetched, but -- well. Seeing as I have no way of…” His gaze moved to Harry’s soul. “Storing? A human soul -- I thought it best… to ask if you have any ideas on the matter?”

Hope returned to Danny’s eyes -- “The bottles…!” -- and he took off like a bullet through the walls and floors.

He couldn’t waste time.

Making it to his Pipe-Room, he held Harry against his body so he could grab an empty test-tube-like bottle. ‘But how do I…?’ He had never had to put anything into one of these containers before -- and although souls were naturally malleable, if Harry slipped out of his grasp… Danny didn’t know what would happen to him! Would he die? Disappear? … Become a ghost?

He didn’t even know if he could get Harry back into his own body, let alone-! ‘Calm down! … It doesn’t matter. There’s no other choice!’ Praying, Danny maneuvered the bottle to below his other hand -- and pushed down. Gently… Carefully… 

At first, he thought it wouldn’t work, but slowly, Harry’s soul morphed, extended, and finally slipped into the container. Danny capped it -- And collapsed. Just for a moment… 

… ‘No… Not yet.’ Mind clear of emotions -- just for the moment -- he flew back up to the office.

Everything was a blur after that: Lots of terms, names, and legal jargon tossed around; planning for how to keep panic to a minimum; what should be done with Harry’s soul, with Danny, with Black, with “The media, Dumbledore…!”

Finally, the Minister was somewhere between satisfied -- and panicking over how behind on his schedule he was, and he left. Dumbledore sighed, sat down at his desk, and there were a few moments of blessed silence.

Danny was staring at the glowing bottle in his hand. “... I fear I must apologize.”

Danny looked up. The Headmaster had always looked old, but Danny’d never seen him… frail.

“I assumed you were dangerous because of your species. Given my experiences with such things, I really ought to--” “Don’t apologize.” Dumbledore smiled. “You really are a caring--” “-- I’m an outlier. What you did -- the way you treated me… You did the right thing. If I had been any other phantasm…” His voice failed him.

‘No. Not yet.’ He focused on a table in the corner. It had some weird, silvery machine on it.

Dumbledore frowned, but didn’t comment.

“The soul,” he said instead. “It will need to be protected. I believe it would be safest if it was left with me.” Danny looked back at the elder wizard. He tried -- desperately tried -- to come up with some form of protest. But… No. He was right. The man had done nothing but protect his students the entire time Danny had known him. Meanwhile, how many times had he failed his friends?

Once was enough.

Danny handed Harry’s soul over.

Dumbledore started asking many questions after that -- about him personally and phantasms in general. Danny just told him to “Ask Lupin” and phased out of the office. He was so tired. Just… Just TIRED.

But when he got back to his Pipe-Room -- and saw the still-open bag of substitute-souls…

Danny’s eyes glowed a menacing, poisonous green. “C l o c k w o r k . . .  ”

Snatching up the bag, Danny flew through the network of tunnels -- until he got to the Chamber of Secrets.

“CLOCKWORK!!!” His energy-infused voice echoed deafeningly, “I KNOW YOU’RE LISTENING! So ANSWER me!” He threw the bag at the wall.

Several of the bottles shattered, glowing-green liquid dripping down the wall like blood.

Tears were streaking down Danny’s face now, “Why?! WHY DID YOU SEND ME HERE!?!?” He punched a hole in one of the already-scarred-and-burned pillars. “You could’ve done this yourself! And NOTHING bad would’ve happened to ANYBODY! So WHY?! For ‘experience’?!!!” This time, the pillar shattered.

“. . .” Danny floated down to the ground -- and sat with his back resting against the pillar’s remains. “... Why would you send a damn predator… “-- a spirit-eater -- “… to save people…?”

“...”

“... Heh. Why did I think you’d answer me…? … You never do…”

He was… Just so tired. His eyes started drifting shut. But… ‘?’ ‘Why is there a nest--? Oh.’ Buckbeak. In all of the confusion, he’d almost forgotten the hippogriff.

It was a remarkably quick, uneventful trip.

He’d find out much of what happened later from Ron and Hermione. The rest of the student body -- of the entire magic society -- was under the impression that Harry Potter had been the victim of a “close-call” and would be taking a few months off with his newly-declared-innocent godfather to recover. While there was a manhunt going on for Peter Pettigrew, the true criminal.

Just about everyone else was happy: exams were over, there was another Hogsmeade Weekend coming up, and the dementors were being sent back to Azkaban where they belonged! And if Hermione and Ron were dispirited -- well, of course they were. Their friend had gotten hurt!

Buckbeak was assumed (in the official story, anyway) to have flown off on his own. (Lupin and Hagrid worked together to find a way to set the creature free in his natural habitat.) Malfoy was furious that the phantasm had “probably eaten” the hippogriff -- that he and his father had been “outwitted by a creature!”

If there was anything that was bringing the other students down, it was that Lupin was resigning as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Snape, the Potions teacher, evidently disliked Lupin and had revealed his status as a werewolf. Apparently, students’ parents were not comfortable with that.

But if they were unnerved by a werewolf teacher, they were at least equally unhappy about the presence of a phantasm inside the school. Danny couldn’t stay there. But Dumbledore didn’t want him far away, as Danny was the only one they knew of who could even potentially return Harry’s soul to his body. Sirius, saying he owed him, agreed to take Danny in. And as Harry’s newly closest relative, Sirius was given Harry’s belongings.

But before he could leave the school, Danny needed, desperately needed, to complete at least one part of his mission successfully. And now that the school-year was over, he could do it.

Without hurting his friend!

McGonagall briefly greeted the Ministry official outside the school entrance. Then simply handed them an envelope, and they went their separate ways. Invisible, Danny flew down to them. Thankfully, they had put the envelope in their pocket, and weren’t still holding it -- where they would’ve felt the loss of weight. Reaching intangibly inside their robe, Danny snatched one of the items.

That he was sent here to steal. By order of the Observants. A mission “FAR more important than some silly horcruxes!”

One time-turner down. An entire cabinet-full to go.

Ghost Zone - Observants’ Council - One week before Danny’s mission began

The room was large, and every seat was filled by a member of the Council. Most were Observants. Their appearance -- just a giant, green eyeball for a head -- continued to weird Danny out.

Odin, the Guarder of Knowledge -- and Clockwork’s brother -- shuffled the papers on his podium. “I believe that covers just about everything. Only one item remains. Clockwork?”

Standing, Clockwork spoke, “Yes, Brother?” “We have a mission for you and your…” He gave a hesitant glance at Danny, “apprentice.”

Looking up, Danny thought Clockwork might be glaring slightly -- but it quickly disappeared. He bowed, “Of course. It is my duty and pleasure to serve the Council.”

“You are aware of the anomalies that have occurred because of the Magic Society you have an… agreement with?” There was outbreak of nervous and angry murmurs from the Observants. Clockwork remained stoic, “Yes, I am.”

Odin was openly glaring now. “They have broken their contract. You are to inform them of as much and to retrieve the time manipulating devices you supplied them with.”

Clockwork nodded. Danny could’ve sworn he was smirking. “Of course. We’ll get right on that.”
