Hello! I got my first skirts today and they are AMAZING! I would love to invest in petticoats to make them floof but the Belle Epoque ones linked in your FAQ max out at a 55inch waist, plus they go up to $60+ each to order from Canadian Amazon. Is there another brand you’d suggest? What about the ones from Fresh Hot Flavours?
there’s a second petticoat brand i have linked in my faq and actually iirc both of those brands lost the resting, unstretched waistband size and they both have an amount of elastic tho im not sure exactly how much the stretch is. i just remember i ordered a 2x which is my normal size and wish i had sized down
as for the @freshhotflavors petticoats, i personally haven’t worn them so i’m not sure but i would trust their size chart to be accurate just based on knowing them as people. if anyone has bought them feel free to reply with your impressions!

Navigating Elegance: A Guide to Wearing and Styling Corsets for Historical Fashion
Historical fashion has an allure that transcends time, offering a glimpse into the past while celebrating the artistry of bygone eras. Among the myriad garments that define different historical periods, the corset stands out as a quintessential piece. Wearing and styling corsets for historical fashion requires a careful blend of authenticity and personal expression. This guide will walk you through the intricacies of wearing and styling corsets, allowing you to channel the elegance and charm of past centuries while putting your own unique spin on the look.
Choosing the Right Corset
Before embarking on your journey to historical fashion, selecting the right corset is paramount. Authenticity is key here, as different eras boasted varying styles. Research the period you wish to emulate, whether it's the structured corsets of the Victorian era or the more relaxed Regency stays. Look for corset makers or brands that specialize in historical recreations, as they can provide accurate designs and materials.
Proper Sizing and Fitting
Corsets, historically, were meant to enhance the natural figure while offering support. To achieve this, proper sizing and fitting are essential. Consult size charts and, if possible, seek professional guidance. Corsets should fit snugly but not uncomfortably, providing support to the torso without restricting breathing or movement. A well-fitted corset will create a flattering silhouette, accentuating the waist and bust while maintaining comfort.
Layering for Authenticity
To truly embody the historical aesthetic, layering is key. Corsets were often worn as undergarments, so consider layering your corset with chemises, petticoats, and bloomers that correspond to the era you're recreating. This not only adds authenticity but also enhances comfort and prevents chafing.
Styling Tips
Pair with Skirts or Dresses: Depending on the era, pair your corset with an appropriate skirt or dress. For Victorian fashion, a full, sweeping skirt complements the structured silhouette of the corset. Regency fashion calls for empire-waist dresses that flow gracefully over the corset.
Accessorize Thoughtfully: Historical accessories complete the look. Lace gloves, parasols, fans, and bonnets can transport you to another time. Pay attention to accessories that were popular during your chosen era.
Hair and Makeup: Research hairstyles and makeup trends of the period you're emulating. Updos, curls, and braids were common, while makeup was often subtle and understated.
Fabric and Colors: Choose fabrics and colors that align with historical accuracy. Natural fibers like cotton, silk, and linen were common in various eras. Research the color palettes that were popular during your chosen time period.
Footwear: Don't forget footwear! Shoes like Mary Janes, buttoned boots, or simple ballet flats can enhance the overall historical aesthetic.
Confidence and Personalization
While historical accuracy is important, don't forget to infuse your unique personality into your look. Incorporate modern elements that resonate with you while staying true to the spirit of the era you're emulating. Your confidence in carrying the ensemble will elevate the authenticity of the look.
Wearing and styling corsets for historical fashion is a captivating endeavor that allows you to traverse time through clothing. By choosing the right corset, paying attention to authenticity in sizing and layering, and thoughtfully styling your ensemble, you can transport yourself to a different era while embracing your individuality. Historical fashion is not just about clothing; it's about storytelling, elegance, and a connection to the past that continues to inspire and captivate.

Any lady wanting to put the finishing touches on her Halloween Rockn Roll costume or grace the dance floor at her local Witches' Ball can look no further. The Jennifer is made with two layers of luxurious chiffon with an added ruffle at the hem for extra lift for overskirt. Great for princess frocks. Weve purposely chosen a fabric with a softer feel so little ladies can wear it all day without the itchiness of other brands. Poofy on its own, if you want even more swing, it can be worn with a hoop skirt. Fabric is opaque enough to wear this garment as a skirt without giving anyone a peek at their underwear. Or wear over pants for full leg coverageAs a full circle rather than a half, this petticoat has plenty of room for movement, so it's perfect for anyone with a few extra curves! We use a high quality elastic for the waist that provides ample stretch, but won't dig into your skin no matter how long its worn. Unique three buttonhole waistband lets you adjust the looseness and tightness. Can be made short or long by running the elastic through one of three different tiers in the waist. All Malco Modes undergarments should be hand-washed and hung to dry. They can be machine-washed on a delicate cycle with Woolite or Forever New, or whichever gentle detergent you prefer. As with hand washing, do not put through a dryer on any cycle. For extra volume, use a hand steamer the day of wearing.

Where to start as a plus-size lolita (part 1)
I wanted to make a big post about where to get items (at least starter items) when you’re a plus-sized lolita. I know my whole blog is dedicated to finding stuff but even that can be overwhelming. I wanted something people can refer to if they feel a bit lost or want something safe to return to if they feel confused. I will be talking about my personal experiences throughout these so do with that what you will. All of the products I talk about are on my blog and each post has links on where to purchase them.
THIS LIST IS BY NO MEANS COMPLETE, THERE ARE MANY MORE BRANDS THAT HAVE INCLUSIVE SIZING.
These are a small group of shops I think are good. If you have any questions or want more shops my blog has several and my ask box is open.
Before you continue please remember:
♥️ Measure yourself in CM! Do not just read XL and think it is plus-size friendly!
♥️ Make sure you have money in your budget to get the item you want!
♥️ Building a wardrobe takes time and money. Please be patient.
♥️ Custom clothing takes a significantly longer time to make. Please be patient.
Notes:
Budget-friendly: Anything 35$ and under (note: please remember to count for overseas shipping when necessary, these are for base items only)
(#)cm is the rounded max size (in either bust area or chest
shoe sizes are typically in EU sizes, please check a chart and measure yourself
With those out of the way, here is a list of places I recommend getting Lolita basics.
Blouses:
Tumblr media
Sakurada Fawn: 130cm, Budget Friendly, Taobao
Sakurada fawn has a variety of blouse types in several different colors and styles. The bust max is typically 130-135cm and styles range from gothic to sweet. These are perfect for going under JSKs and are comfortable as well.
Glitter Tale: Custom Sizing
Glitter Tale is a brand that makes custom blouses (as well as main pieces). Everything is 100% custom and you just have to give them your measurements (IN CM). They have blouses in different fabrics, colors, and styles so you will not only have a perfect fit but it will match wonderfully with your coords. They also have amazing customer service.
Main Pieces (JSKs, OPs, Skirts):
Tumblr media
NSG Lolita: 130cm
NSG Lolita has beautiful main pieces with sizes that range to around 130cm in the listings but people have reported the sizing being very generous to allow possibly even more room.
Violet Fane: 125cm
Violet Fane is an indie brand Located in Spain that has a large size range. Their main focus is Classic and Gothic Lolita. However, they have a small side brand called Sumiere that will be focusing on more sweet themes. Max bust sizes range to around 125cm~.
Cheese Cocoa: 110cm, Budget Friendly, Taobao
If you are looking for cute cheap sweet dresses then cheese cocoa is a great start, especially for beginner lolitas. Most dresses are around 30$ and are perfect for those who are just starting out. Bust sizes max out at around 110cm.
Hard Candy: 130cm, Budget Friendly, Taobao
Hard Candy has a huge selection of styles, from JK, Kawaii, and even Lolita! Their lolita is more casual sweet or gothic, but their clothes regardless of what you buy are extremely comfortable. Max bust is an average of 130cm but it can go higher or lower depending on the product. They also feature plus-sized models which is a very nice and needed touch. I personally own several skirts and dresses and the quality is great, especially for the prices. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves j fashion in general and is plus-sized.
Petticoats:
Tumblr media
Aurora and Ariel: Custom sizing, Taobao
These are some of the most reliable and comfortable petticoats I have personally ever worn. They have custom sizing with a variety of colors shapes and sizes. If you are looking for a solid petticoat to wear often, the Daily Petticoat is an amazing beginner-friendly option.
Shoes:
Tumblr media
Cotton Candy Feet: 46EU
Cotton candy feet is an indie Brazilian brand that makes custom-made shoes (as well as bags and other accessories). Each style comes in different colors and is tailored to your foot needs! Sizing maxes out at 42BR (US12/EU46) so there is quite a size range.
An*Tai*Na: Custom sizing, Taobao
This brand has been making custom shoes for an extremely long time! From Mary Janes to boots they have a huge selection of shoe types and sizes that go all the way up to 52EU!
Boleros/Cardigans:
Tumblr media
Little Dipper: 120cm, Budget Friendly, Taobao
This Taobao brand has cardigans that’s are plus-size friendly with a max bust of around 120cm! These cardigans and boleros are very soft and short and compliment your coord nicely! They come in dozens of colors and are a nice budget option.
Coats:
Tumblr media
HMHM lolita: Custom Sizing
HMHM has a pool of coats that you can get custom sizing and colors for coats (as well as some other pieces like blouses and JSKs).
Strawberry Witch: Custom Sizing
Another brand that has coats that have custom sizing. They also have some dresses and other pieces.
Legwear:
Tumblr media
Roji Roji: Thick Leg Friendly, Budget Friendly, Taobao
Roji Roji has a wide selection of tights, socks, and more with different prints and patterns. You’re sure to find a pair that matches your coords! The fabric is extremely soft and stretchy and doesn’t warp the print too much! So the little creatures on your legs won’t be crying out in pain!
Accessories:
Tumblr media
Morning Glory (bags): Taobao
Morning Glory has extremely versatile, sturdy, and overall great quality bags. Many can switch between a crossbody bag or a purse and they can fit a decent amount of things inside them. They also range from Gothic to Classic to Sweet. Keep an eye out for new releases!
~❤️~
I hope this was helpful to some people. Again this is just a small list but this should give you a good start. I’ll be making more parts in the future about some do’s and dont’s and what constitutes as lolita. Possibly some tips on how to save money or how to coordinate?
I should just make a YouTube channel at this point…

I'm very new to lolita. I found the perfect dress on Lace Market that was advertised in my size. So I bought it. I was ecstatic. I squeed quite loudly when it arrived and tried it on. It was the wrong size. I couldn't get on. I'm devastated as this is an older dress that is hard to come by. I don't want to sell it because it's absolutely perfection but I would need to lose nearly 15cm on me or add about 13cm of shirring. Any advice?
I recently had the same experience with one of my dream dresses where I misread the size chart, thought it would fit, and can’t even come close to getting it over my hips or shoulders. I refuse to get rid of it because I love it so much but I haven’t been able to bring myself to do the alterations yet.  In your case, it sounds like the dress you’re looking for is available in multiple sizes? If that’s the case, maybe wait a bit and see if the right size comes up, then buy that and sell the wrong one.  If alterations are going to be our only option I don’t think it’ll be too bad. The good thing about altering lolita is that the dresses have all that extra fabric in the waist where it’s gathered to fit a petticoat, and you can usually take a few inches from that to extend the waistline without altering the shape too much. After you do that you can add a panel of shirring in the back. (There used to be a fantastic tutorial for this that I remember from the livejournal days but it’s gone so if anyone has one they recommend please share!) 13cm isn’t too much so I think it’ll be fine, but if you’re not very familiar with sewing I would recommend taking it to a tailor and having it done professionally. When doing this, I always recommend taking a stock photo with you of what the dress should look like so you can stress that you want to make sure it maintains the same shape. A good tailor should know to do that anyway when they see how much gathering there is, but I just like to be extra safe.

‘jason (constantly going through it) (loves his friends So Much) (a theatre nerd!) (compassionate and kind) (i don’t know how else to say he’s an angel)’
‘rooney (the trauma did not help) (loves a lot) (makes mistakes! relatable) (shakespeare nerd) (tries her best! a baby)’
‘The Last True Poets of the Sea’, then below it
‘mariah (the kindest, sweetest and funniest) (the fact that she’s the mom friend? simply excellent) (the fact that she just loves spending time with her friends is enough to make her the best character easily) (part of ‘cousteau!’ the musical)’
‘orion (no one can not love a guy that plays the harmonica to a lobster) (loves his friends) (got pretty bad luck, but that doesn’t mean he’s not lovely and accepting about it) (memorised his lines for ‘cousteau!’, because he’s a cutie)’

Hello! I’m the one who recently asked about the petticoats and can confirm for your customers that the Belle Poque brand linked in your FAQ go waaaaaay bigger than the waist range listed in their size chart. Based on the advertised numbers I shouldn’t have been able to even fit them around my middle much less over my hips but they fit perfectly. For reference I’m a skirt size C and possibly a shirt size 5X/6X, mine haven’t arrived yet since I’m outside the US.
yeah i honestly wonder if the belle poque skirts are sized for hip measurements instead of waste measurements
when we did the big group photoshoot, we were prepared (based on the size chart) to need to sew 2 of the petticoats together for our C size model, but there ended up being no need to!

Dress c/o* | Cardigan | Keds | Necklace | Earrings | Sunglasses (Similar)
I’m taking a little break from heavy sweaters, coats and boots to feature the most perfect, vintage-inspired dress for spring! Thanks to my little weekend getaway to Tel Aviv, Israel…I was actually able to experience some amazing, spring weather. It was glorious!
The trip to Tel Aviv itself was a cool, yet complicated experience to say the least, though. Some parts were amazing, while others will go down as some of the worst travel experiences of my life (not as bad as the time my hotel caught on fire, but still really bad). None of this had to do with Israel itself, though. This country is so beautiful (look at that beach)! However, I’ll get into all the details in my travel posts. We’re here to talk about an amazing dress from my friends over at Tatyana Boutique today!
How fun is that embroidered lace design? I love it! And it’s been a while since I’ve had a dress that fit me this well. It honestly feels as though it was made just for me. I went with my normal size medium, but the sizing chart did give me a bit of a heart attack, as it didn’t look like any of the sizes would be a good fit for my measurements. However, the medium proved to PERFECT.
This dress is also sleeveless and the back dips down into a V that stops just above my bra. It’s incredible because this dress does not show my bra at all! Usually, dresses of this design will have my bra slipping out the sides or peeking out the back. Not the case with this one! Sorry, I’m not showing it in this post, though. It was beautiful in Tel Aviv, but not warm enough to go sans cardigan…especially in the morning (when I took these photos). You can click here to see it on their website, though.
The shape is fantastic as well. It has a built-in tulle slip, so it keeps its full shape without a petticoat.
As I’m sure you can tell in the photos, though, it does wrinkle rather easily. Neither my steamer nor the hotel’s iron were up for the task either, as they hardly got out any of the wrinkles from being packed in my suitcase. I’m thinking it’ll look a lot better once I get it dry cleaned.
I also had originally planned to style this dress with a cute pair of heels, not sneakers. However, then I wouldn’t have been able to wear it on this trip because there was A LOT of walking involved! My Keds were the only shoes I packed for this trip, and they were perfect for the nonstop walking. I can walk all day in these, and still be comfortable. I kind of want a pair in every color, haha. (Although, the white ones go with everything!)
What are your thoughts on this vintage-inspired dress for spring? Yay or nay? And does anyone else wear Keds when traveling? Let me know in the comments!
