you might know me as "slurpeepenciltopper" or jay. it's been awhile. and if you're just finding this account, hey. hope you stay awhile. this account is pretty old, but i've been hopping between tumblrs for awhile now and i couldnt help but feel pretty off about it the whole time. - i've nuked part of this tumblr just for safety purposes and also for comfort reasons. you'll see a lot of the posts on this account are from 2018 and beforehand, which is because thats when this tumblr was probably the most active. - although i dont have the same interests, im keeping some of the posts up for nostalgia purposes. this is going to stay my pinned for awhile whilst i try to flush all of the old posts out. but enough about past me i feel like you guys deserve a little update. some of my followers are active on here still! my name is doge online now. i still use he/him and i am still pansexual. im ftm. i have been on testosterone since december 2021. i also found out im cupioromantic recently which is pretty cool. nowadays im a lot less interested in musicals and 2016 youtubers. im way more interested in internet rap (yun head, mc virgins, shotgun willy), one piece and other animes, video games (especially roguelikes) and the group chat! Hi anonymous, i’m answering this question in a weird way because I don’t want people to be searching a name and finding me talking about media, it’s a rule i typically stick to. for context this ask is about the allusions to a real world abuse case in pscop. Im putting it under the cut because it’s heavy & i dont know what to tag it so be careful reading it if the stiuation is upsetting to you too ok fellow users on tumblr

obviously it’s something i’ve always been horrified by -- not necessarily surprised by, roping real-world tragedies into unfiction and args has kind of chronically been an issue (And it still happens to this day), but it’s still EXTREMELY upsetting to me and has been since i was a kid coming across it for the first time, and the instace in petscop is particularly egregious. the only reason i have ever been comfortable continuing to engage with it in spite of the allusions is because they were completely dropped ~1/3 of the way through the series and an apology was issued (albeit a pretty wimpy one) , but it definitely upsets me like, a lot, and the negative impacts associated w/ those first few episodes are not lost on me. Even though there was an attempt at a reversal, in a lot of ways, the damage was already done, and you can still see it continuing to be done in some places online. i think anyone who’s having anything but an incredibly negative response to it has their head in a hole about it and is being very irresponsible. it’s genuinely baffling to me that it was ever considered an okay thing to do. the only thing worse than it being included in the first place was the way “theory” youtubers & the general public reacted to it, it was an unbelievably horrible situation that never should have happened & i do hold a lot of disdain towards the guy who made petscop because of it still. even after seeing this person taking action to undo some of the harm, its hard to feel anything but “mostly negative” about someone who makes a decision like that, even if his art is really influential to me.

ultimately if someone can’t reconcile with that, i think that’s more than reasonable , & i think people should be mad about it, & anyone trying to apologize for it is being negligent. if you’re conflcited about it, i think you should be. i’m conflicted too. ive spent a lot of time thinking about it. its a given that if you’re going to choose to engage with it, you have a responsibility to be mindful of this, even though it doesn’t have much bearing on the literal story. “being critical of your interests” as it were. which is why you will see me not using specific words that appear in the early series. and i encourage everyone else to consider doing the same. the harm can’t be undone and the art can’t be removed from the world now that it’s in it, so i’ve always considered the best course of action to be trying to remove the association between the art and those early allusions as much as possible, so that someday the real person’s life won’t ever be associated with the webseries again. which means removing words from your vocabulary. does that make any sense?

anyway it’s upsetting to me, and hard for me to talk about, but important for me to talk about , i’ve talked about it in the past but i honestly ought to talk about it more because thats my responsibility as someone who’s introduced a lot of people to the artwork (Although i don’t necessarily intend to). hope that was coherent and makes sense. if you’d like to talk to me more about it please do feel free to send further asks. hope you have a good day too

Hey hey!

Mercury (are you a talkative person?)- Sorta! Around friends and coworkers I tend to talk a lot. It really just depends on my kinda...judgement of others? Like, it'll take me a little bit of meeting someone to tell whether or not they'd be interests in hearing me talk about things. But, uh, I guess in a general sense, "yes."

Mars (are you the type to approach others first or do you like others to do that instead?)- Not sure! I don't think this happens enough for me to give a real answer. Haven't met lots of new people lately. Guess I would let others approach me first.

Scorpio (do you feel comfortable talking about taboo things?)- Pretty much only with close friends. I try to be pretty careful of what I discuss around others, especially adults.

3H (what are some of the topics you like to talk about the most?)- Video games!! And other media. I can sit down with someone and have conversations about Undertale, Deltarune, Sonic, and plenty of other things for hours. In fact my friend and I used to discuss Deltarune theories and things of the sort to pass the time at work. I also love to talk about Petscop as of late but I don't know a whole lot of people (especially irl) to do that with. I haven't indoctrinated them yet.

1: id say i have a much larger connection to comfort objects or media than i have to any specific character, but if i had to choose a specific one then id say.... belle leskowitz, i think! Petscop as a whole is a pretty big source of comfort for me and i tend to have her on the mind a lot more than other characters in it, so process of elimination lol.

31: Even though she’s sorta shitty, recently a lot of emilie autumn’s stuff, especially from her opheliac album/era, has been rlly helping me out whenever im feeling out of wack. They might be giant’s stuff is also pretty good in that regard.

41. I dont have coffee often but whenever i do i get it with a lot of extra cream and sugar. (and ice. Idk if you include your ice preference or not when discussing how you take coffee)

...i only just realized why i never could sympathize with the sentiment of “I like re-consuming this old familiar story, because it’s comfortable and I get to turn my brain off for a bit”, and i feel sorta dumb for it because the reason is: well, we showed off our pictures of all the notes on the Area X and Ambergris books after our re-reads, right?

i re-approach media with a goddamn magnifying glass and notepad (otherwise it’s entirely boring lmao). we’re currently rewatching Petscop, relistening to Archive 81, and replaying Inscryption, and all of those things are taking like at least twice as long as the first experience, and require some breaks in between because it’s Effort :’D

hmmm well there sure are a lot of fun minute facts i could share!!!!! a couple other people asked for facts so i'll just pick a random one. did you know the events of petscop are cyclical on a set schedule? its no coincidence that the inciting events of the story occur in 1977, 1997, and 2017 respectively. its a 20 year gap every time! it also comes in a set of 3s. sets of 3 are very important in petscop, which i suspect is probably why triangles are also important. here's a couple more sets of threes:

i don't really use the word kin or comfort character, but paul is very close to something like a comfort character for me : ) thinking about the leskowitzes in general just heals my soul. i think any character that has a hard life and then finds a safe place to rest is just going to mean so much to me in my brain i n general, and it also really means a lot to me that things continue to be hard for paul even after he is safe and sound, because i think a lot of media posits finding a safe place to stay away from active victimization as a "happy ending" when it's really most of the time just the beginning of a new relaly difficult journey........as for "kinning" i dont do that anymore but ive projected on belle so much that i'm quite sure a part of myself has broken off in her my reading on her is very personal. heres some sweet leskowitzes
