The dressing rooms of manhattans centre were hustling and bustling, full of laugh and talk.

Y/n sat on her vanity chair twirling her curled hair around her finger, this was her 4th year being a professional model and taking it seriously, it had shocked her how far her career had sky rocketed.

She couldn’t quiet believe she was sitting backstage of one of the biggest fashion events of the year.

As a child she begged her parents to take her to nyc or London just to watch the fashion week before her eyes, and now she was part of it.

The thought of also being able to bring her parents and family to New York City was also not on y/n’s list but the fact she could made her proud of herself.

The only person missing now was Harry, a bit of her heart broke knowing he couldn’t make it back in the US in time.

When y/n received her invitation to the event, she called harry straight away with floods of happy tears and jumpy hands.

Y/n’s mind jolted back to reality, this was happening? A hard knock was at her door.

“Come on in” she called twirling around on her stool to face the door.

“Y/n babe, 5 minutes till showtime!! It’s completely packed out there! 2,200 people out there waiting including the one and only Micheal kors!” Her manager squealed.

“Wow” she sighed

“Y/n? Are you nervous?” She said walking towards her and gently closing her door behind her.

“Mainly excited nerves, y’know this has been my dream since a little girl” she smiled

“Of course! Well not long now and remember your family have somewhat been able to get front row so give them a smile?” She laughed.

‘Front row?, thought that was only for high status people’ she mentally thought.

“Oh wow, oh well thanks” she blushed not believing her luck.

“Oh and also, remember to straighten that dress when you leave!” Her manager reminded before slipping out the door.

A sigh left the girls mouth, she couldn’t wait to do this, she stood up and walked in front of her full length sized mirror and checked out her dress.

An elegant white, floral dress that hung perfectly to showcase her sliver heels, she gently smoothed the silky texture with her hands and got ready to join the rest of the girls next to the stage.

Before she does so her phone dings.

She typed out and sent, y/n knew it would be nearly impossible for him to fly out so quick knowing he has a show the next day. She put her phone down and went to join the girls.

The audience sat in anticipation watching the opening of the show, and the presenter begin.

Y/n was the second model to walk the runway on her own, she was going to have a total 3 outfit changes through the evening and spend most the time on stage.

“Ok girls, give it everything you have, Petra as soon as that music starts your on, y/n as soon as Petra hits half that halfway line you start your strut” her manager states ensuring everyone of when they appear and do there bit.

“Remember not to slow, not to fast, a smile and sassy side tonight ladies” she claps.

The presenter had left stage, ‘this was it’ she thought

A roar of claps and cheers occurred when the first model strutted onto to stage, y/n discreetly peered beside the curtain to take a look at the audience and try to locate her family and there they were right side of the stage front row almost close enough to touch the stage if they wished.

Y/n peered closer by curtain to travel someone familiar by her dad.

No..Harry?

Her heart was pounding and her head was racing? That was Harry? Harry made it?

“Y/n, you don’t want to reveal yourself just yet!” Her manger said reaching out for her shoulder.

“Harry!! Harry’s here!” She excitedly squealed pointing towards him.

She smiled in reply.

“You knew about this?” Y/n asked.

“Well, we needed someone to be able to get your family front row” she winked.

“Your on in right aboutttt” she dragged.

“Now” she said pushing her gently.

Y/n quickly adjusted her hair and flattened out her dress once more.

Before walking from backstage to reveal herself to the 2,200 people.

She practically wanted to run over to Harry and throw herself at him, but the show was to go on regardless.

With a start of a slow walk she began to quicken her pace, her arms remaining on her gown at all times making sure the pictures captured the Beauty and detail of the fendi gown.

She could see her family rising out of there seat as she strides closer, her heart almost running marathons in her chest at the excitement and adrenaline she is facing.

As mums do she held her phone camera out at her daughter capturing this special moment, her father almost dropping a tear from his eye at the sight.

“Harry!!!” she blushed blowing quick kisses to him.

“Hi baby” he mouthed using his hand to catch the kisses.

For the rest of the walk she held a big toothy grin, this couldn’t get any better.

At just about midnight the night of y/n’s life came to halt.

As soon as the presenter appeared back to stage to thank everyone and close the evening, Harry and her family had already made it to y/n’s dressing room.

“Harry” she sighed leaning into his scent and warmth, something she hasn’t been able to do in over 2 months.

“Only you could get away with wearing jeans and a top to New York fashion week” she muttered into his shoulder.

“Heeyyy, didn’t want to upstage you darling” he smirked which caused the girls parents to laugh.

“Shush it” she smiled reluctantly letting go to hug her parents.

“Oh darling we’re so proud of you” her mum began, cupping her cheeks and giving her a mum hug.

“How did we make such a beautiful girl” her mum continues.

“Not quiet sure, Harry your lucky man” her dad stated and put a heavy hand on his shoulder.

“Most definitely” he smiled.

With some love and affection from both her parents, it was finally Harry and y/n in the dressing room.

“Can’t believe you” she smiled walking into his embrace once again.

“I wouldn’t miss this day, are you crazy?” He smiled.

“I didn’t think it was even possible”

“Mm it is when it comes to you darling” he hummed kissing her head

“You’ve got a show tomorrow though” she pouted looking up at him.

“Come with me” he stated.

“Babyyyy” she whined.

“Only one more week in Paris, and then it’s just us in sweet London hey?” He continues using his ringed fingers to play with her hair.

“Got more work to do here though, y’know I want tooooooo” she dragged in a whiny tone.

“Uh uh” he hummed

“Sarah managed to find you work in Paris, s’can still fly out with me, s’up to you darling”

“Oh my god, you really think of everything” she stated kissing his chest.

“Best get to the hotel room and sleep, m’tired and plus tomorrow must be an early start for us”

“Y’know it, now c’mon get your pretty little self into something comfy and we’ll get going” he added.

“Y’looked gorgeous up there tonight, my model girlfriend, how cool is that” he smirked.

“Well, my rockstar boyfriend and your model girlfriend make quiet the coolest pair” he said in a matter of facalty.

an: started my big girl brain research fellowship today. hence - brain jargon and GRAD STUDENT LEVI

The room is small - the nineteen of you cramming into the small space of the conference room. You’re located directly at the front, sitting next to your advisor, Dot Pyxis. A leading expert in the field, one of the first neuroscientists you had met at a conference when you were a freshman in college.

You saw it - the way his eyes lighted up, the way he was stumbling over his words because he was so excited to explain what he did everyday that you wanted that. To be that excited about something. And here you were, sitting next to him about to make it happen.

You moved to Marley two months ago for this very moment. Your first day at the Brain Consortium - one of the best neuroscience research labs in the country, led by Pyxis himself. He was going to co-advise your thesis, guide you into becoming an expert in the field. Unlike any other, this lab was barely limited to one field, instead equipped with researchers from many different departments, the projects, the papers entirely interdisciplinary.

There was no other place like it. You can feel your hands shaking as you hand over your hard drive, your presentation loaded on to it. Pyxis had explained it all - there were weekly lab meetings where everyone came together, presenting their research. Everyone gave feedback, asked questions to help further expand and build on the projects.

And it was your turn. On your very first day, you were expected to explain. What you were going to research, what you were going to contribute, what you were excited about.

It’s fucking nerve wracking. Pyxis stands up, giving you one last shoulder squeeze, before introducing everyone in the lab to you. He points everyone out - the other assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, and the other PhD students.

“Hange Zoe, Erwin Smith, Levi Ackerman, Petra Ral, and Nile Dok. The other PhD students. I want the five of you to give her a tour of the lab after.”

They all nod, a few of them giving you encouraging smiles as you start. Pyxis turns to you, taking your seat at the table as you take the pointer in your hands, starting your presentation.

“Right. Um, I’m F/N L/N. It’s nice to meet you all. I, um, completed my undergraduate studies at Shiganshina University. I got a b-bachelors in applied neuroscience and computational biology. I’ll be presenting my thesis project pr-proposal.”

You hate this shit. You’re stuttering over your words and they’re all staring back, completely uninterested in your work. The PhD students in front of you aren’t even taking you seriously - the girl with glasses nearly stumbling off her chair from sliding around on it and the guy with dark black, grey steely eyes more interested in his cup of fucking tea than what you were talking about.

“Right, so. My project aims to study interoceptive signals - like heartbeat, respiration cycles, blood pressure - and use them to predict and decode intentions. These small biomarkers, entirely unconscious to us, are consistent during decision making, unbeknownst to us. We can exploit that - to understand higher level cognition.”

You’ve got their attention - you can tell. This is always the easy part, drawing them in - the woman from before stopped sliding on her chair, instead leaning forward with her eyes shining at your slides, the guy with the tea momentarily flickering his eyes up to the screen.

“You can use it to predict how people act, how they feel. Especially for something like heart rate, which is what I want to focus on, you can understand so many things - anxiety, stress, companionship, sexual attraction, romance.”

You see one of the PhD students murmur under his breath, interrupting you in your stead. Nile, they said his name was.

“So you want to be a…love expert?”

The entire room laughs, giving you smiles as you continue on. You give him a smile, responding.

“I guess you could say that.”

You continue on - highlighting how the brain regulates these signals, what equipment you’ll be using to record all of it.

They clap when you’re done. Success.

You feel fully settled into the lab, a few months later. You’ve decorated your tiny cubicle, directly in the middle with the other PhD students, with a few knick knacks - a picture of you and your best friend, a tiny little green figurine your parents gifted you, and a rack for your headphones.

You’re located in the section with the other PhD students, who are…interesting.

On the first day, they lead you to take the cubicle directly next to Hange, which you realized was a bad idea. Because they set you up. Hange’s a biochemist - doing research on the brain tissue at the molecular level, trying to understand how glioblastomas progress. Meaning - they’re always playing with chemicals at their desk, sometimes too lazy to walk over to the lab, which leads to some interesting smells and…smokes in your area.

They never get in trouble, because Erwin and Petra always come to save the day. They’re both leading policy experts, studying volition and decision making in hopes to use in applications to the law and judicial systems. Figuring out why criminals commit crimes, using it for to serve justice. They cover up the evidence, distract Pyxis and Shadis, and talk their way out of it on Hange’s behalf.

And that leaves Nile, who isn’t particularly your favorite. He’s a bit hard to get along with, not exactly personable per say. He’s researching microdosing and addiction - trying to figure out how we can manipulate medicines or drugs into being more or less addictive.

You almost forgot about him. Levi, who's currently leading you to the MRI room on the other side of the building. Definitely the most intriguing of all of your colleagues - using transcranial brain stimulation to decode intentions. In less jargony terms, he read minds.

He puts the decisions made on the tests into algorithms, correcting it until the machines can predict the decisions being made perfectly - that can be applied to anyone, not just singular participants. He’s coding human thought into machines. And doing it successfully.

Levi’s quiet, perplexing, and intelligent. An enigma. He’s stood out to you, more than anyone else, for the simple reason that he’s the only one who doesn’t want to talk to you. Hange invites you out for drinks, Petra introduced you to her boyfriend, Erwin bought you a birthday present even though you didn’t tell anyone it was your birthday, and Nile asked you on a date (which you obviously declined).

But Levi doesn’t care. You don’t either, but it does intrigue you at times. Why he’s so quiet, so closed off, what he’s always doing on his laptop, who he texts on his breaks. This was the first time you were alone with him - getting roped into participating in his newest study.

“Newbie has to do it.”

“Do what, Hange?”

“Levi likes to experiment on all of our brains. You’ve never done it and he needs someone, so we’re volunteering you.”

Hange and Erwin pull you up by the wrists, all but pushing you out of the conference room into Levi’s cubicle, where you almost trip and fall over him. He looks up - already deeply uninterested with the three of you standing in his space - as he removes his hands from his keyboard.

“What, brats?”

“I’m not participating. She is. Take her away!”

He looks between the three of you, clearly unamused with how nonchalant Hange was being about the whole thing, as they knocked over Levi’s stack of books on the floom. They nearly shake his entire frame in their hands as they thanked him profusely for not making them participate.

Erwin picks up the stack of books - somehow shuffling them all out of order as Levi gets even more frustrated - shooing the two of them out of his space. After successfully removing them, you and Levi walk towards the MRI room, all the way across the building, in silence.

When you get there, he taps his hand on the platform, signaling for you to sit on it. You obediently follow, still not uttering an entire word. You watch him mill around the room - pressing switches, using the intercom to communicate with the operator, turning the lights off.

“Wearing any metal?”

“My necklace. I’ll take it off.”

You reach up, awkwardly fumbling with the clasp as he watches you, his hands pressed to his sides as he waits. You’re not sure what it is - how sweaty your hands are, the way he’s looking at you, awkwardly waiting for you to finish - but you can’t get the clasp off, your hold shaking behind your hair.

“I can help you.”

You meekly nod, getting off the platform. Before you can, he reaches forward, his slender hands gathering your hair before placing them across the side to your shoulder. You feel his knuckles against your nape, quickly unlatching the necklace and fixing your hair back into place.

“I’ll hold it for you.”

You get back onto the platform, lying flat, as Levi uses the intercom to signal to Armin, one of the undergraduate students who worked in the MRI building. You can feel the platform sliding you into the tube and you suddenly feel it.

Your claustrophobia. Every horrible thought you can imagine is running through your head as the machine starts whirring, your heart pounding in your chest. An earthquake - the machine would crush you. The magnets can be too fast, the machine malfunctioning while you’re stuck inside it. There could be a fire and you would be left here, everyone leaving you and locking you out of the room.

“You okay?”

“Y-yeah, Armin. Sorry. I get a bit claustrophobic, that’s all.”

“Okay, take your time. Try to stay still so we can get better pictures.”

You nod, trying to still your breaths as the machine whirrs on again. You can feel your nails digging into your palms, as you try to calm down, the panic still sitting in your chest. You feel a hand circle around your ankle, squeezing twice, as the machine keeps going.

“You okay, Newbie?”

“Yeah, Levi. I’m okay.”

“I’m here. Get out if you’re uncomfortable. I’ll just drag Shitty Glasses by the scalp to do it instead of you.”

You laugh, his hold still firm on your ankle. You try to focus on it - the fine print on the machine, your back against the platform, his fingers on your skin as the machine keeps going, your panic still writhing in your chest. The MRI finishes - Levi giving you one last squeeze before the platform slides out and you nearly jump out of the machine.

You and Levi walk back to the main lab, in silence. When you get there, Levi gives Hange’s ponytail one big yank before settling back into his cubicle, giving you a soft smile before you return to yours.

It’s Levi’s turn to present for the lab meeting. The lab is going to Hizuru for Sigtuna, one of the largest neuroscience conferences to date. The PhD students are all presenting posters, except Levi who was invited to give a talk.

You had been helping Levi as of late - working with him to identify the sulcuses and the lobes on all of Levi’s MRIs. He had no experience in magnetic resonance imaging whatsoever - something you had spent years learning during undergrad. So the two of you had worked out a system - you helped him with identifying the images and helped you troubleshoot your code for your tasks whenever you needed it (which was often).

You spent a lot of time together - even if it wasn’t direct. You’d sit in silence in the main conference room, working for hours. He’d bring you a cup of coffee and you would pick up dinner, talking through ideas as you finished off your projects.

You had helped him write the grant for the talk instead of the poster, helping him with all the physiological portions. He taught you how to do all the analysis for yours - the two of you often the one’s leaving the lab latest, Levi walking you to your car in the dark before walking off to his own.

You were friends. Project partners.

He gives you one last look before starting the presentation and you shoot him a thumbs up under the table, which he returns with a smile. He’s explaining - using your brain and Hange’s as the sample templates to explain what he was doing - what parts of the brain he has to use for his machine learning.

“This is Newbie’s and this is Hange’s brain. In theory, each part of the brain is slightly bigger, depending on what parts of your brain you exercise more. For example, Hange is involved in more motor-dexterity - running all their projects by hand. This part of the sulcus is more developed, bigger because of it, compared to Newbie.”

Nile nudges you on the side, whispering something about how he can give you something to do with your hands if you needed it. You roll your eyes, awkwardly shuffling farther as you refocus on what Levi was saying.

“This part of the brain is more developed for Newbie, the Brodmann areas - associated with critical thinking, higher level cognition, decision making. Good thing I didn’t use your brain, Dok. We wouldn’t even be able to catch it on the image if we used yours.”

The entire room laughs - Nile sulking in his chair as Levi continues. You don’t miss the look he gives you afterwards, his eyes uncharacteristically soft when he meets yours, as he continues the presentation.

When he finishes, Pyxis goes over the room assignments, mentioning that there were three rooms for all the PhD students - meaning a few of you would have to pair up. You turn your neck to look at Petra, who's already nodding and agreeing with Hange that they would room together. You deflate, watching Erwin and Levi pair up. Which leaves you next to Nile, who's all but too excited to be your partner.

He slings his arm around your shoulder, saying that you guys can share the bed if it gets cold at night, which leaves you shooting dangerous looks at Hange. Levi catches on first, immediately dragging Erwin over to where the two of you were standing.

“Dok. Erwin is going to room with you.”

“Says who?”

“Says me. Don’t argue with me today, I’m already sick of you.”

Levi grabs you by the wrist, dragging you towards the other side of the room as he rambles on.

“What a fucking idiot. First he interrupts me during my talk and then starts saying perverted shit like that. Someone’s going to smack him upside the head one day and I surely hope for my sake it’s me.”

You wrap your arms around his neck, squeezing him twice before letting go.

“Thank you for that - I was literally going to vomit if I had to room with him.”

“Well, I told you before. I’m here if you’re uncomfortable.”

You nod, the two of you walking into the conference room to make edits to your presentation.

You and Levi come back to your hotel room after the conference, positively plastered. He’d all but given his talk perfectly and your poster won an award at the end - which meant you and Levi were celebrating well into the night.

You had your arms slung around each other, your weight uneven, as you both slide back into the hotel room, falling onto the singular bed in the room. You and Levi were greeted with the unpleasant sight earlier in the day - you and Levi both insisting that you would be the ones to sleep on the couch.

You’re both lying face up on the bed - your cheeks flushed, your chests heaving up and down, the only sound in the room being your shaky breaths. Your hands are still locked together, your brain fuzzy from the events of the night.

You and Levi amble up after a few minutes, both attempting to change into your pajamas and go to bed. You ogle Levi as he takes his shirt off, watching from the side of the mirror. He catches you, walking closer to you. He still reeks of beer, still shaking on his feet.

He leans over, pressing his forehead against yours as you hold onto his arms, grounding your fingers into his biceps. He’s still not wearing a shirt, his bare chest on display. You fight the urge to stare at him full on.

“You’re smart, Y/N.”

“You’re smart too, Levi.”

“Did you pay attention during my talk?”

“Y-yes. You code the information, like a puzzle, to figure out what people’s intentions are.”

“Hm. You be me. I’ll give you the information and you figure it out, okay?”

You nod, barely understanding what he was getting at as you lean into him. You can feel the buzz dying down, the tiredness setting into your bones.

“I’m not a mind reader like you, Levi.”

“You’ll get this one. You’re my smart girl.”

He reaches down, securing his hands around your waist as he pulls you closer to him. Your hands and frame are pressed against his chest, his skin cold to the touch.

“You caught my eye on the first day, with your perfectly pressed hair and that stupid black skirt.”

You can feel your breath catch in your throat, the sound not leaving your throat.

“You take the cubicle two feet down from mine and I can’t help but watch you - reorganize your desk, get up to get water, scribble things on the whiteboard.”

You can feel his heartbeat get faster against your hear, his grip on your waist tightening. You’re suddenly too aware of what’s happening - Levi, PhD Levi, is shirtless, hugging you in a hotel room. The lights are dim, there’s only one bed, and he’s holding you.

“I don’t work with other people at the lab, but when you ask, I do. I leave the lab way past the required time, willingly spending more time in a room with that idiot Nile in it just because you’re in it too.”

“Levi.”

“I’m not done.”

“It drives me crazy, every time Nile talks to you, touches you, looks at you. I want to sock him in the face - because he’s not nearly good enough for you. Not that anyone could be, but for some idiot like that to think he stands a chance is next level infuriating.”

He releases his hands from your face, lifting his hands to cup your face. His touch his soft, his thumb caressing the burning skin on your cheeks as his eyes meet yours.

“I think about you all the time. When I wake up, when I go to sleep, when I eat my breakfast. When I’m not with you, I just want to be around you. And when I’m around you, I want to be with you.”

He leans forward, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. His lips are pillowy soft, his breath tickling the edges of your forehead.

“What does it mean? Figure out my intentions, smart girl.”

You can feel your entire body burning, your head still spinning - from the alcohol, Levi’s touch, his words ringing in your ears.

“You…like me.”

“That’s a fact. Not an intention.”

“You…want to kiss me?”

He smiles, leaning forward to press his lips to yours. The kiss is warm, the taste of the beer still hanging on his lips. You can feel his hands moving, carding through your hair as you reach up to press your hand against his shoulders. He kisses you for a long time - your body burning at the entire sensation. He breaks apart, still smiling against your lips.

“Smart girl.”

“Do you…remember my research, Levi? From the first day?”

“I’ve memorized every single thing you’ve ever said to me.”

You can feel your cheeks flushing, Levi’s hands returning to squish the sides of your face. You grab one of his hands, opening up his fingers and placing it flat against your chest. You move his hand around, until you’re sure he can feel your heart - which is pounding in your chest.

“Heart rate can give away a great deal. The biomarker can help you understand a lot of different emotions. Figure out which one I’m feeling, Levi.”

He leans forward, pressing soft kisses all over your face as he starts asking.

“Anxiety?” - a soft kiss, right on top of your head.

“No.”

“Stress?” - a light kiss, right on your closed eyelids.

“No, Levi.”

“Companionship.” - a sweet kiss, right on your lips.

“Yes. But that’s not the one I was looking for.”

You watch a smirk spread across his face as he leans down, spreading soft kisses all along your neck. He murmurs against your neck, a hint of teasing in his voice.

“Sexual attraction?”

“Levi. Quit being a tease.”

“Shut up, brat.”

“No. You missed one, Levi.”

“What was it?”

“Love. A heartbeat can give away a great deal - can even be used to indicate and understand romantic feelings.”

He press his hand against your chest again, your heart still hammering.

“It’s fast. What does that mean?”

“That I love you.”

You see a big smile spread across his face, reaching all the way up to his eyes. You see him now and you think it’s the best he’s ever looked - messy black hair, pink cheeks, squinted eyes. He reaches down, opening your fingers and placing them against his bare chest. You can feel his heart hammering in his chest.

“Fast.”

“Yeah. Means I love you too, smart girl.”

CHAPTER ELEVEN: LUCKY

warning: spicy content ahead! you've been warned

Finally, you've finished your novel. After about 3 weeks of endless writing sessions, it's complete. You email the document to your editor, feeling accomplished as you press send. You can't help but get excited thinking about your book publishing and going back on a small book tour. You text Mikasa that you finished the book and when it's done being edited, she can have the first copy.

Levi has been texting you all day, but to no avail. You're very good at ignoring. You hum to yourself as you shut your laptop and grab a few things to keep at Levi's place. You catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, noticing every detail of your body. Petra looks nothing like you. She's short like you, but she's more frail and petite. Her hips aren't full like yours, and you bet she doesn't have cellulite on her thighs. Her hair is pin straight, not like yours which is thick and wavy, sometimes hard to manage.

i'm gonna be real honest right now, and this is gonna be long....your I'm Gonna Make This Place Your Home fic has had me in a choke hold since i found it like a week ago. it's so good and i love it and i've always loved the Rock Trolls (probably because thats the genre i've gravitated to the most since i was a kid) but i just adore the characterization, the exploration of Branch growing up in a different culture, exploring Branch's trauma. Barb being a big sister, Branch actually having a dad.

just i am in love with all of it.

i have so much i want to say but i don't know how to put it into words. it's also nice to see this one and another fic of Branch being raised as Rock called Burning Branches AU where Branch loses his memory and gets adopted by Thrash. like i don't mind the AU's i've seen of Branch being like half Rock or something but having Branch be in a sort of Cooper situation, adopted into another genre, just hits what i've wanted to see.

this fic has me chomping at the bit for more, and i can't wait for more.

and i will say this as well....Trolls has been a sort of guilty pleasure of mine since i saw the 1st movie on Netflix back in like 2017. it was something that looked like a fun time and an escape from college assignments and i liked it well enough. when, World Tour was briefly on Netflix in like 2021, or somewhere around that time, it was good and i loved the fact we got to see different genres of trolls.

but hooboy! when Band Together got added in like early August this year. i underestimated how much that movie would make me actually want to read trolls fic. and i gotta say i've got the trolls brain worms now and this fic has just been living in my head and rotating it like its in a microwave and studying it like a bug.

i am also the anon that said that So Called Life by Three Days Grace would be a song i could see Branch writing when he finally starts wring songs, and the anon that wanted Branch to where the shirt Val got him of Spider's band the 1st day of school to see his reaction in front of Val and Petra that this was the one who dethroned him at the arcade as a power move.

i also loved the idea of in ch 26 Branch thinking about what his life would have been like if his egg was found by Rock Trolls. i hope that is an idea either you or someone else will explore because now i really want to see that!

Branch being half Rock is a very interesting angle, but I really like the idea of Branch not being Rock but being Rock, if that makes sense. Identifying with their values despite not being a Rock Troll by blood.

What are your favourite Cats productions and why?

I have three favourites! So in literally no particular order:

Cats 1998: I mean for me it's an absolutely given that this should be one of my favourites. Literally the only things I don't like about is that they cut some of my favourite moments. Like he's called the conjuring cat! How can you take away his conjuring turns!? But aside from that the film is amazing with not only iconic actors but great fimography and an orchestra that goes hard! This film is a gift from the Everlasting cat I tell you that. (Also it sucks that the songs from the film isn't on spotify Dx)

International Tour 2022-23: Ah yes, the one I saw with my very own eyes- How could I not LOVE it! The experience itself was the best part. And having Milan Cacacie as Tantomile next to me several times + us attempting to do a paw touch but an old lady was in the way. And about the new character designs, I couldn't care less. They still looked amazing and I've never seen Mistoffelees sparkle so much before. Whenever Cats comes to sweden again you can bet your ass I'll be there!

Aisa Tour 2022-23: I'll never be over how much I loved this cast. Katie Hutton, Xavier Pellin, Cian Hughes, Petra Ilse Dam, Anneka Dacres, Matt Krzan- Screw it! ALL OF THEM! I miss watching youtube every day just to see the curtain calls with these dorks. I literally have no other solid reason as to why I love this production so much. AG Presents: The Time Of Day Tour - NCT AG's First Headlining Tour

General Information

SM dropped the press release on June 6 announcing AG's plans for their first tour, called AG Presents.

Teasers was released on June 12th and 13th. In both, a portal to The Flat sat open in an alley. Two of the members would appear, wave at you, then proceed to close it. Just as the portal shuts, a piece of paper flies out and lands on the ground with the words “Wanna see the show?”

On June 14th, SM announced a new single will be dropped the week of the Seoul concerts.

The song, Future Starts Now (Kim Petras), was released on June 19th with Korean and English versions

Stage setup

AG's stage consists of the main stage, a ramp and the extended stage. The extended stage is rectangle shaped that's slightly curved making the entire stage look like an umbrella

To the side of the main stage is a tube that is measuring Dream-ergy (explained in the VCR Info section)

On the main stage is a huge circle with a lighting rig surrounding it. Most of it is a screen but in the middle section there are movable screens for the girls to walk on and off stage. Two stationary screens sit on either side of the circle as well

The seats between the main and extended stages were reserved for NCTzen AG - ACE members only

Premise of the show

The audience somehow ended up in The Flat. Their collective dreams of seeing AG brought them there.

The members fight a grey mechanic shark, hell bent on destroying dreams, including yours. This shark can use its mouth to bite portals to other dreams

The girls chase the shark through the different dreams of AGzens. While fighting off this monster they also have to collect enough Dream-ergy to send the audience back to earth.

Throughout the show, the lights in the stadium will shift between green/blue/white and pink/purple/orange. While the lights are pink/purple, it means the audience is hearing from AG in story. While the lights are green/blue, the audience is hearing from the real members of AG, no storyline involvement

VCR Info

Before the opening VCR a ‘Welcome To The Show’ video greets the audience where the girls go over the rules of the concert as if you were attending a movie or Broadway show.

Sidenote for this VCR: I'm saying you cause the girls are talking directly to the camera. In a way they are breaking the fourth wall talking to you or the audience. So thats what I mean when I say you.

In the stadium, the lights and screens on the stage show a city background. Filled with people navigating the roads, entering in and out of businesses, driving down the street, etc. As it gets closer to showtime, the stadium lights slowly turn color until the whole venue is engulfed with pink lights. On the screen the cityscape is replaced with a pink swirling vortex that overtakes the cityscape giving the illusion of moving backwards into something.

When it hits showtime, the view is warped as you start to spin around. Then, you're shot out of the other side onto a new planet. The grass is pink, floating platforms of silver suspended in the air, bouncy up and down. Green, blue, purple and pink blobs of goo recreate clouds. the corner of the screen has coordinates and the planet's name, The Flat.

Suddenly, an explosion goes off. The view whips around to a battle between four girls and a huge mechanical shark. One of the girls is swatted away by the sharks fin. She flies through the air landing right in front of you. Groaning, she rolls over and sits up on her knees. The girl turns toward you and you recognize its Hannah.

Hannah looks at you, puzzled and concerned, “You’re not supposed to be here." Hannah helps you stand "That shark can create portals to different universes. If you were to get sucked into one, we might not be able to find you.” Hannah alerts the other girls of your presence, telling them to watch out for you. “Alright we can’t send you back right now but stay close and stay low.”

You follow Hannah as she joins the fight once again. Just as the girls start to get the upper hand. The monster roars, snapping its teeth together. Aurora darts away, narrowly missing her arm getting chomped. A portal opens behind you and AG. You and the members are pulled into the swirling blue vortex. Placed in a different universe, the girls are now in their first costumes for the concert. A staff member pops in, letting AG know they have five minutes until showtimes.

Moxy notices you swaying back and forth and asks "Are you okay?". AG tries to go back but their powers aren't working. Juno figures until they get more dream-ergy(energy from dreams) they can't jump through the necessary portals to get back to The Flat and the monster. "There's no way we can open a portal that big without Naevis' help. And she's MIA."

AG asks you to help them collect Dream-ergy so they can get you and themselves back to The Flat. In order to start collecting Dream-ergy, AG must insert themselves into the dream fully. The girls inform you they won’t notice you until they pull themselves out of the dream. "We won't be able to talk to you anymore once were in." "Don't be scared, If you stay close we'll know you're there."

The members close their eyes. In a flash the girls are fully settled into the dream, not even acknowledging you anymore. "What are we waiting for? It's Showtime!!" From there, you follow them as they walk from their dressing room through the halls of the venue. They pick up jackets, bracelets, and microphones on the way to the stage. On the side screens, a new VCR plays, introducing the girls as they walk through the giant portal like entrance in the middle of the stage to start the show.

In this VCR, AG are in a dance room, dressed how they would before they debut. In no name-brand, baggy clothes.

Throughout the video, instead of seeing themselves as they are. In the refection of the mirror, the girls see themselves in outfits they have worn for past comebacks

The girls chose this as one of their VCR songs because Young and Proud is the first dance they choreographed by themselves.

Take A Hint VCR (the original song is by the Victorious Cast)

The members are at a diner, where there are a bunch of sleazy guys leering at them. For awhile they ignore them until one puts his brave face on, approaches the booth and tries to talk to Hannah. The girls look equally disgusted then they begin to sing.

The members dance around the diner, patrons and workers all joining in. The group of guys are so oblivious, partying along to the song. They don't even realize the girls are singing about them.

Once the song ends, the guy from earlier tries to speak but is interrupted by a car horn. Outside in a jeep, sits several members of NCT. Mark in the drivers seat waves the girls outside. AG says goodbye to the boy and his friends then head out, holding back their laughs until the door closes.

All About Us VCR (the original song is by T.a.T.u)

In this VCR, the girls are dressed like they're Ladies in Bridgerton. The girls have been sent to retrieve a crown that's making this dream into a nightmare

A party is going on and the members take the chance to go retrieve the crown but are stopped by their 'dates'. Their dates whisk them away to the dance floor. The crown is brought out for all the partygoers to see.

To distract the room from the crown, the girls bring their dates to the middle of the ballroom, inviting them to dance. As the song begins, AG sings along drawing the partygoers onto the ballroom floor with them. The choreography looks like it was ripped from a scene in Bridgerton.

During the climax of the song, all the girls are able to escape their dates and descend on the crown. As song ends, the girls are able to toss the crown through a portal and close it. AG escape thru another portal and leave the dream just as their dates reach the stage.

Girl Group Cover Section - the costumes for this set are modern hanbok's. Think Blackpink in the HYLT music video. The main colors are black and red instead of pink.

Extended Stage/Cart Section - These outfits are all sparkly with fringe. The girls are wearing all different types of glitter and jewels. Moxy and Aurora both have fringe on their shorts. Juno's top is bedazzled while Hannah wears sparkly mesh.

Finale Section - For the finale, the girls are wearing outfits like Red Velvets costumes for the 2021 SMtown online concert (the plaid ones). AG wear black plaid with white tops

Before the Show

Outside the Seoul venue was an area for fans to relax, play and take pictures before the concert starts

At the end of the area was a stage with a screen that played various music videos the members have participated in. SM organized a random play dance for fans on all three days

Near the SM building is a pop-up to celebrate AG's first concert tour. It was called Time Of Day: The Exhibition. In the exhibit, scenes from AG's music videos have been recreated for fans to walk thru. The members costumes for each video are displayed for fans to see up close. At the end is a gift shop where all of AG's albums are available for purchase again

Interesting fact about the pop up, The one album that sold the most copies is tied between Time Of Day (the full album) and Time of Day: Noon

At every show, including those outside of Korea, there is a booth that sells photocards from previous AG albums for any poca collectors

Tour merch is tie dye themed. The colors chosen represent each member’s color. Here is the list of goods being sold: Three T-shirts(one cropped), One long sleeve shirt, Two hoodies (one cropped), a bag, a bandana, a photocard set and a pin set

AG set a dress code for each day of the Seoul Concerts. Day 1 was signature colors. Day 2 was pajama/loungewear. Finally Day 3 was black, white and green.

Songs played before the show starts: Say Ok, Circle Game, Technically Single and Fly. Fans know the concert is about to start when I’ll Be There starts to play

You know that running joke of NCT being friendless outside of their group members. AG can no longer be included in that conversation after the concerts in Seoul.

Who knew all it took to unite the kpop world was Bruno Mars or AG.

One day 1, I swear all of SM was there. Boa, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon came together. Eunhyuk, Leetuck, Donghae and surprisingly Kyuhyun were in attendance. All of Red Velvet and Aespa were there. Taemin and Minho arrived together. Kai even got time off to attend the concert with Baekhyun and Chen

And you already know there was a whole section of seats blocked off for NCT use only. Each day one of the units was in attendance. Day 1 was for 127, Day 2 was WayV's turn and finally on day 3 was for Dream

On days 2 and 3, idols from all over the industry came to support the girls. Stray Kids, WJSN, Seventeen, Ateez, Xdinary Heroes, Treasure, Itzy, Kepler, BB Girls, Loona, Hyolyn, Tiffany and Seohyun. I could go on.

The biggest surprise was the appearance of Jungkook, Jimin and Taehyung of BTS. The screams that erupted from Armyzen's in the crowd were deafening. This was by far the biggest talking point on twitter. All netizens wanted to know how this friendship came to be.

It was revealed on one of the dancers Instagram's that the girls and their dancers play musical statues to loosen up before a performance.

Showtime!!

When the girls walked out of the portal for the first time, The crowd went BANANAS!! On day 1, Hannah had visible tears in her eyes. Weirdly, the girls stood at the top of the ramp soaking in the cheers from the fans before the music kicked in

The show director posted on Instagram that she gave AG fifteen extra seconds to feel the moment before starting the show

For Juno, this was her first concert. Reasonably she was in awe. At times, fans caught her just smiling out into the crowd with the most joyful expression

As soon as they reached the first Mnet, the girls were crawling to the places. Moxy even said "Whoever thought it was a good idea to put all our dance heavy songs in the beginning...we gotta talk."

The crowd couldn't get enough of the solo/duet section. Neither of the duet tracks had been performed before so the nerves were quiet high with the girls.

Moxy and Juno's Be There choreography was a sight to behold. At every turn, it looked like one member could fall only for the other to catch them. Creating a dance the fit the tone of the song perfectly

The dance for Let Me Move You was so much fun. Hannah and Aurora couldn't stop smiling the whole time. Fans later found out Moxy and Hannah choreographed the dance with the help of Bada Lee

Each of the girls solo performances proved their talents to fans across the world. Each girl never being swallowed by the stage. Not the slightest bit afraid to stand alone and sing. Moxy's solo stage is the only one fans had seen before so everyone in the stadium were excited to see Juno, Hannah and Aurora murder the stage

Juno's stage was the cutest. While simple, History's dance really showed the singers improvements. Juno danced with a male dancer telling story of the song

The On + Off stage was beautiful. The entire stage and venue was bathed in white lights. Aurora was seated on the floor, knees bent and arms wrapped around them, while dancers filled the stage and worked around her. At different times, the dancers would physically pull her to different spots. Only for Aurora to assume her previous position again. Fans called the performance powerful. A testament to Aurora's talent a performer

Hannah had the fans in a chokehold with her sexy performance of Let Me Get Me. Hannah had all female dancers with her. The most iconic moment was Hannah stopping the music after the first chorus, strutting down the ramp then dropping to the floor one leg out ala The Boys by GG

A fan favorite set was the girl group covers. Fans could get enough of how AG performed Genie. The members sang the song acapella. Dropping the back track in favor of letting their true voices shine through.

AG made it a point to give their dancers a moment of their own to show off their greatness. At every show, during Do It Like This, three different dancers got a chance to freestyle before the girls came back out to the stage.

Once the members boarded the carts during Liberty Walk, both carts make it a point to stop in front of the disabled section and give those fans a special moment

Luckily, no fans were harmed when the signed bouncy balls started being thrown.

Future Starts Now is a dance-pop song encouraging fans to go out and conquer the world. The message and title fit AG perfectly. At this point in their careers, their ready to close this book and start a new one, ready to take the world by storm. AG were having fun with the choreography. AGzen's said it felt like a Girls Generation choreography but AG-ified.

SLAP got new choreo shocking everyone. The move were matured, matching the growth AG have made in the past four years. The chorus dance still kept some moves but changed others, mixing the old and new into something different but welcome.

Fireworks were popped during Coloring Outside The Lines, painting the night sky. During Moxy's bridge part, fans could hear the emotions running thru the leader. The tears she held back.

Concertgoers let other fans who were attending the concert to stick around for the shows special ending. On day 1, a ton of fans missed the girls singing them home and wishing them safe travels.

During Day 2 and 3, the girls relaxed more, enjoying the moment. This was their first concert tour. the tour director posted a video of herself reminding the girls that concerts like this should be about making memories. They already know the show from top to bottom, it was time to have fun. Cause the fans have more fun when they do.

AG kept their composure during the ending mnet's on day 1 and 2. The floodgates opened during day 3

"When I left Hawaii, my dad didn't want me to go. He wanted me to stay, go to college there. I never understood what he was afraid of but I guess I won't know until I have my own kids. I think what sold the deal for him was when I said "I'm not leaving our 'ohana. I finding a new one." Now, my dad is here. First time he's every left the island and he got to met my new 'ohana. I got to tell him this is my family. We're broken but still good." Hannah

At that all the girls started crying. Moxy was wailing, "What the hell, Hannah! You can't just quote Lilo and Stitch at us!"

"I got in a huge fight with my brother the day I left Huston. I didn't understand why he didn't believe in me, in my talent. But...it wasn't that. He's been burned by this industry before. He just didn't want the same to happen to me. I think that's why I worked so hard to prove everyone, even myself, wrong.

I used to look up at the sky and beg for my own group. My own unit. I haven't done that in a long time because I realized......this is my group. This is my unit. AG is mine....and I promise to continue to give my 300% to making us a success." Juno

Aurora was silent for a moment before she started speaking

"I didn't know I'd feel the way I do right now. Standing here. Mark coming back, releasing two full albums then going on tour as seven felt like triumph. Like the boat we were on got past the rough water and we're finally sailing free." "This....feels like.......relief. In the best way. I don't know about unnies but for some reason the voice in back my head always told me this is temporary. This won't last. That while i gained security for one, i'm gonna lose the other in turn. Over the past three days, that voice finally went away. For the first time, I feel like this could last. This could stand the test of time and change. We plan to be around for a long time. Will you stick with us?.......Yeah? Good."

"You know....I thought I knew what I was going to say. But it all just escaped me. (long pause) I don't want to make you guys upset but this is whats weighing on me to tell you. There have been times when the girls and I will get ready for a show or a performance and think 'this is when it all goes wrong' or 'this is it.....for us' or even 'this time...they won't be there. This time they won't scream'. And every time I'm proven wrong. Every time we have to take ourselves out of that feeling because it doesn't matter if there's thousands of you or one of you. (Long pause) AG....exists....because...of you. We are standing here because of you. And I...We can't thank you enough. Thank you for wanting us. Thank you for accepting us. Thank you for demanding more. Thank you." "I use to pray for my own group of members. But I don't do that anymore. Cause this is my group. NCT is my group. These are my members. I found my place and its with these three women and twenty men. I'm okay" Moxy

On Day 3, after the girls performed Coloring Outside The Lines, the lights went down and a video began to play. The AG Korean Fan Union sent a video for AG to be played on the third day. In the video, the fans thanked AG for their hard work even when fan numbers were few. After the video finished, they turned around to a sea of banners that said "AGzen stand with AG till Liberty"

The girls were already teary eyed but the banner project pushed them over the edge. The day 3 mnet's pushed the fans over the edge. Tears were flowing on both sides.

During the tour, you can really tell how much both sides, AG and fans, care about each other and the success of the group

Moxy ends every show like she ends her vlive’s “Be safe, Be happy, Be healthy and most importantly, Be nice."

Differences between shows

The dress code chosen for the rest of the concerts was black, white and green. London and Toronto were the most coordinated cities. The fans going so far as to assign colors to different sections.

At the Japan shows, the cover songs have been changed to Japanese songs.

For the boy group covers: Gimme Gimme (NCT), Electric Kiss (EXO), Breaking News (SHINee), Opera (SuJu), Mirotic (TVXQ)

For the girl group covers: MASAYUME Chasing (BoA), Galaxy Supernova (SNSD), 4 Walls (F(x)), Wildside (Red Velvet), Black Mamba (Aespa)

For the Japan concert, AG released a debut mini album called Time Of Day: 時間 (Jikan, Time in Japanese). The album included five songs: four previously released and one new.

The new song is called COWBOY(by F(x)). Along with the mini album, a mv for COWBOY was released where the members are coaching a girl on how to win a boys heart, by being herself. In the setlist, COWBOY is performed between Do It Like This and Liberty Walk

The other four tracks are songs rerecorded in Japanese. SM looked at the Japan charting info to determine which ones would be translated and rerecordd. Those songs are: Breakout, Hit Me Up, Shut Up and Dance, Our Time Is Here.

Aurora was strangely emotional at the London shows. She didn't even cry at the shows in Seoul. But in London, fans were shocked when tears spilled out during her final mnet.

Later, in the London vlog, it was shown that Aurora's paternal family were all at the show. In a tearjerking moment, Aurora was embraced by her grandmother, someone she hasn't see in years.

During the U.S shoes, Future Starts Now and Something Like A Party are performed in English

While in Chicago, AG performed on the last day of Lollapalooza. They were on the BMI stage at 7:30-8:45. They didn't prepare anything special because of the tour but the girls packed a TON of songs into their time slot.

While Hannah's parents came to the Seoul show with all of AG parents, at the L.A show they brought Hannah's younger sisters to the show. The fans were so nice to them, giving them freebies and conversing with them.

After the show, The AG twitter account posted a video of the three sister embracing, tears on all their faces.

AG were unable to attend KCON in a performance capacity. They did hold a fansign hosted by hello82, though.

One fan asked if they watched WayV or Taeyong’s performance. Hannah revealed they had their manager screen record both sets so they could watch it back on the plane ride to LAX.

Taeyong and WayV attended AG’s last show in California. After the show, the members came backstage. Taeyong gave a speech to the girls, congratulating them on finishing the U.S. leg of the tour. Camera’s for AG’s instagram account filmed a part of the speech and posted it on their stories.

“I cannot express how proud I am of you four. You’ve grown as women and professionals. You all are blossoming before my eyes and the pride I feel every time I see you walk on stage is overwhelming.”

All the members of NCT flew back to Korea together, since the next week was NCT Nation

U.S fans put together another banner project for the second show in LA. This time, the fans used the video to congratulate AG on their achievements up till this point including selling out each stop in the U.S. leg of the tour.

At each of the girl's hometowns, Chicago, Houston, New York and California (for Hannah cause getting to Hawaii would be a logistics nightmare), management chose 25 attendees to come back stage and meet the girls in a private meet-n-greet. No filming was allowed but fans did get professional photos sent to them after the US leg finished.

While in Canada, the girls called Mark during their final mnet so he could greet the Canadian fans.

In Latin America, the girls perform a cover of Celoso by Lele Pons in full Spanish. Celoso was performed after Future Starts Now. On top of that, they changed Suju's Black Suit to Suju's Lo Siento in the boy group cover section

Online Tour Content

In every city the girls filmed vlogs of what they get up to while on tour. All of the highest viewed vlogs were in their respective hometowns.

Moxy's America food tour returned for another season. This time instead of tacos, the girls ate pizza at local pizzerias suggested by fans.

At the end of the tour, AG released a special tour video of Cannonball which edited together all the best clips of the members performing the song across all the tour stops (think Ateez's video for Dancing Like Butterfly Wings)

Two shows came out in conjunction with AG’s tour. One from Mnet and the other from Disney+.

Mnet’s show was called AG 도전 (Challenge in Korean)

The premise of the show: AG are known as FFI or Fearless Female Idols. All AG members are a part of NCT, a predominantly male idol group, for a reason. They face the challenge of being female idols in male groups every day and they conquer it every time.

Over each episode, ten in total, AG has a chance to win $500. The money will go towards AG’s end of tour trip to an unknown location.

Every episode will have a main subject to focus on and it could be anyone. Each episode has two challenges each worth $250. The first challenge is The Game. AG have to answer questions about their subject then win in a game their subject has played before.

If they pass, AG picks one of the subject's songs to perform. If they fail, the staff chooses.

The Second challenge is The Performance. AG has to perform the song chosen. If the staff chose the song, AG has to face an extra challenge of the staffs choosing. AG winning the last $250 isn't up to the staff though. It's up to their fans and the subject themselves.

Each performance is dropped online for the fans to see. By a voting system, if they like it, AG wins $125. The other $125 is won by the subject of the week also voting in AG’s favor.

In each episode, the are also surprise challenges that AG filmed while preparing for tour that can help or hinder their performance depending on if they win or lose

An episode debuts after each tour stop on the U.S. leg of AG’s tour until they finish in Vancouver.

The show ends in a special episode where their vacation destination is revealed to the girls, Disney World

In a random order here are some of the subjects that will be featured: BTS, Everglow, Girls Generation, Ateez, EXO, LE SSERAFIM

The second show isn’t a show at all, Its a documentary on Disney+ about AG in conjunction with their tour. Part 1 has interviews about the creation of AG and videos of the girls preparing for the concert. Part 2 is the filmed Seoul day 2 concert.

Encore Show in Seoul

The encore is called AG Presents A New Day: Encore in Seoul

The girls prepare alot of changes for this concert.

The premise of these shows is the dream-eating Shark is back and is causing the fans to have nightmares. Now AG has come back to fight the monster off and restore your dreams.

The show has a loose theme of moving on. Remembering the past and stepping into the future.

Netizens were freaking out after the first day because AG changed the WHOLE SETLIST almost

Fan's in attendance had no idea what was going on. They weren't prepared at all.

AG had a whole new opening set, extended stage set, new solo songs, new covers for and a new finale. Needless to say, AGzen's were FED!!!

I figured why waste them when i can make another post and fully flesh them out so look forward to the part 2 of AG's tour. So, it's confirmed that Holiday in Harmony takes place only a few weeks after World Tour. And Val and Barb supposedly become besties in those weeks, Barb even including her in a photo shoot with her dad, and not her (maybe) brother/cousin Riff.

But then.. she sends Val off to Trollstopia shorty after? Or Val volunteers to go? Leaving Barb far alone from her new bestie? And in Bad Hair Day Val says Petra is her bestie back home?? I can't see Val and Barb being all that close then.

Just trying to process all the relationships between all the characters, which is probably useless because they probs had to include the characters from Trollsopia in HiH for marketing reasons and just made up stuff as they went but still

posting this one a little early as i'll be posting my writing year in review post on the 31st!

☆ GENERAL COMMENTS.

so i've been pretty MIA these past few weeks :/ i just started a new full time job which is quite physical and while i am enjoying it immensely, i'm usually tired at the end of the day to come on writeblr.

BUT somehow i've still been finding time to write! lots of fun things are happening in the chaynematic universe.

i've also been drawing quite a bit too! i'm really challenging myself to draw out of my comfort zone (which really just means drawing backgrounds that are more than a shape or a gradient, welp). currently working on a piece for my new wip which is... taking way longer than i would like 😅

reading comments: Discordia (which is the final book in this space opera trilogy i've been reading over the last few months) was good, not great, and the ending felt a little anticlimatic, but i can understand why it ended the way it did. a solid 4/5 stars because i still had a good time. anyways if you like Chay Stories, i recommend this trilogy! it's far from perfect and a little rough around the edge but it's still fun and enjoyable and hits all the right elements i personally love! (sibling drama in space! funky alien tech! bisexuals, plural!!!!!)

☆ COMMENTS: ANDROMEDA ROGUE (draft 2)

i tend to work on this one when i don't have the brainpower to think too much, as a lot of it is just polishing or expanding on things that are already written.

i did add some new scenes that i hope will add more meat to the story. one is a phone call Azami witnesses between her father and some other politician, which is meant to add some political backdrop to the conflict between the planets. the other is a scene where Azami tries to run away before being placed on the expedition, but gets caught by her brother Ansel, as i wanted Azami to be more active in trying to shape her fate from the very get-go, and also give her and Ansel more scenes together. i haven't quite finished the latter one yet though because i haven't had the braincells to write any completely new scenes for this wip lately.

i also really reworked an exposition-heavy chapter where Petra gets the rundown of the expedition, and the scene right before they leave when they're given a tour of the ship to make it less clunky, sprinkling description of the ship into the team's actions as they get settled in instead of throwing a big wall of description at you.

so as of now a good chunk of act 1 is already rewritten!

however i do think in the second half of the month the steam for AR (which was all momentum from finishing AR3) has cooled down a bit and my mind has shifted elsewhere. which brings me to my next section...

☆ COMMENTS: THE GEMINI HEIST (outlining / draft... 0.5?)

in case you missed it: i have a new wip !!! (technically it's not new because i've been secretly working on it sporadically since spring, but it's new to most of you.) i'm having a ball writing about these awful gay women doing crime in space!!! i really missed that New WIP High haha. i feel like a kid in a sandbox.

i realized partway through the first act that the way i was writing AR wouldn't work for GH. because it's a heist i'll have to plan thigns more than i did with AR... but having a too-detailed outline feels too restricting. so instead i'm attempting to fast draft this thing so i can get a fuller picture of where i'm going, but still be able to plants this draft which seems to be the way that works best for me. (probably because you can't spell plantsing without plants.)

except that i'm really bad at not getting caught up in details while drafting, especially when writing dialogue-- these guys always end up talking and talking way more than i intend lmao. so i'm calling this more of a draft 0.5, where some parts will be more detailed but others will... not. i've pretty much skipped all description or non-essential worldbuilding. that's a problem for Future Chay.

this is from gemini heist chapter 4, where Leo is trying to convince Illiana to help them, and Euna and Gabi are... not exactly helping.

Illiana’s chest tightened. She took a deep breath. “How do I even know I can trust you? You’re a criminal, aren’t you? Why wouldn’t you take the money and leave once I’ve given you what you want?”

Leo leaned back in her chair. “I’m an honest criminal, Heir,” she began.

The shorter, chubbier of the two minions spoke for the first time, muttering under her breath, “I’m pretty sure ‘honest criminal’ is an oxymoron, actually.”

The taller, muscular one reached over and gave the short one a little smack on the arm. “I don’t think the Captain appreciates you calling her a moron, Gabi,” she scolded.

Leo’s overall expression didn’t change, but Illiana didn’t miss the exasperation briefly flashing through her eyes.

Leo, to Euna and Gabi: i have total faith in you guys

Leo, to herself: there's like a 30% chance they both die
