When you first arrive onto the Jolly Roger, you're greeted with by a charming and handsome Captain James Hook, who is delighted to meet you, dear.

Abandoning the Lost Boys- after all, they kicked you out for growing up first!- You happily joined the pirate crew. You're the cabin boy, which is understandable since you're the newest member.

Every evening you cooked, the pirates sang your praises when they weren't teasingly calling you "the best maid they've had", when Hook starts calling you "maid" and you respond negatively, he makes the whole crew stop.

When on land, you dance with the pirates as they play their music. Seeing how happy you are while dancing, Hook felt a hole in his heart. He used to be so lovely on the violin before the incident.

Hook calls you into his quarters and gifts you the same violin, claiming that he has no use for it and it would be a shame if it went to waste in dust.

"You don't know how to play the violin? Well, I suppose you will have to learn then, won't you?"

Every evening after that, the crew pitied you as you walked into the quarters.

Okay fam, here we goooooo! The first chapter of my first (of 2) Peter Pan fanfics I wrote 20 years ago, migrated from FF.net to AO3!

Peter Pan & Wendy, now married, have just welcomed their 3rd child into the world -- a bouncing baby boy. But their happiness is soon cut short when it becomes clear that the apple does not fall far from the tree…

This is the first fanfic I ever wrote, which is actually a sequel to another fanfic I read (with the author's permission of course!). By and large this is a pretty PG story save for a chapter near the end which gets pretty spicy, which is why I have set the rating to "Mature". I'll do my best with other content warnings and tags but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, I am new to this!

I wrote this 20 years ago when I and the world were 20 years younger.

I go deep into Peter Pan lore, so it helps if you have read all of JMB's Peter Pan canon, including Peter and Wendy, Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, and The Little White Bird, but not mandatory

I wrote both my fics in the style of JMB, so if that isn't your cup of tea, well... it is what it is, lol.

So this is my favourite version. Since seeing it, I own a copy of it, I make fan art of it, and I have fanfiction based on it….It is the one I dream of when I see Captain Hook. I also have @oh-my-favourite-piratee which has a lot of this version sliding into it.

Peter Pan directed by P. J. Hogan (2003), is an authorized live-action movie adaptation. This version is notable for its directness in addressing the romantic elements between Peter (Jeremy Sumpter) and Wendy (Rachel Hurd-Wood). Captain Hook was portrayed by Jason Isaacs (who also plays the role of Mr. Darling), and Tinker Bell was played by Ludivine Sagnier. The $100 million film boasted state-of-the-art special effects by ILM and took nearly a year to produce in Australia, but was not a financial success for Universal Studios (USA/France/English countries) and Columbia Pictures.

It didn't become a financial success because...

Peter Pan had the misfortune of being released a week before another fantasy book adap - a little film called The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King. This means audiences saved their pennies for that trilogy closer, and Pan only made $122m worldwide on its $130m budget.

To me, Lord of the Rings is another rabbit hole but it came after Peter Pan.

This is the beautiful version of Captain James Hook we got, played by Jason Isaacs. Blue-eyed, with long black hair and facial hair plus he has his hook on his right-hand cause the actor is trained in sword-play with both hands.

This is what fans are comparing live actions to cause Captain Hook here has the right amount of everything to him. I don't think the new version (with Jude Law) will come close…but we will see. Tumblr and Youtube with the trailer here:

Granted I was like 5 years old in theatres when I saw this. Why did 5-year-old Emily see this in theatres? Cause she asked her dad and he said yes.

Then he plays the piano (technically it is a harpsichord) for Wendy in this version and also sings. And also this caused so much older Wendy Darling x Captain Hook fanfiction/fan art/etc (looking at @darlinghooklove-blog and bloggers of that group) to appear and I get why so I have a blog called @emily-s-otp for more Captain Hook x Wendy Darling stuff.

This version has a theme about Wendy growing up/learning about herself and it seems creepy when you think about it, due to him playing her father. This is probably why Jason Isaacs is unsure about it.

Now thinking about it, I know this was part of my sexual awaking as a teen (cause I saw it again as a teenager…and many times after…)

Speaking of Spotify, it only recently readded this version to it…just as Netflix removed it. (Like why? Add it back again)

During a celebration at the Jolly Roger, Captain James Hook decided to party a little too much and, in other words, got absolutely drunk.

And during that evening he ended up hurting himself with his hook… again. But this time he dismissed Smee and instead asked for your assistance, which was odd. You knew better than to complain, though.

You were both alone in his cabin now, Hook sat down while you gathered the medical kit and then helped him take his shirt and hook off (making you blush in the process) to reveal a small gash below his collarbone, that would need stitches.

"Please be still, Captain. This will hurt…" but he was so inebriated you doubted he would feel a thing "I'll try to be quick".

"James… you can call me James, you know." He said in a raspy low voice, sending shivers down your spine. Since you met the man, he had that effect on you… even when you tried to suppress it.

"James… please be still or else I'll stab you." You showed Hook your needle playfully, and he reciprocated with a big smile.

"Be a good boy and help me out then?" Good boy… that man would drive you insane. "Sure… I'll be a good boy." he smiled slyly

A few minutes in silence passed as you concentrated on the sutures, and the whole time you felt his eyes on you like prey. You could feel a drop of sweat down your temple, nervous at his presence.

"I want to buy you some new clothes" He nonchalantly said, his confession drawing a giggle from you. "Are my clothes not to your liking, Cap- James?"

"Don't be offended, dear. I would just like to see you in some fancier clothing. You would look good in satin, I'm sure…" You both laughed, the thought of him wanting to see you matching his fancy clothes made you blush. You decided to exploit a little bit of his drunkness and expand on the fantasy. "What about gold? Do I deserve some jewelry with that new wardrobe?"

James stayed quiet for a second, his forget-me-not eyes widening with the question. "I would love to see you draped in gold! Necklaces, earrings and rings." He made a pause to fantasize and soon admitted. "Would love to see you laying on my bed, on top of my satin sheets and surrounded by jewels." That… was a lot. If you were blushing before you were now burning, but you couldn't help but press him even more.

"So you'd like to see me on your bed with fancy clothes and gold around me?" You made a pause to look at him, and what you found were dark eyes filled with something… lustful. "No, just the jewels."

You swallowed dry as your core burned with desire. THE Captain James Hook… he wanted you. More than you could ever imagine, he fantasized about you. And you have been oblivious to it.

But he was drunk, nothing could ever happen between you two in these conditions, so you just continued to work on the stitches.

"I'm sorry I've gone too far, my love. But I must admit, I love to see you blush." James apologized with a little smile and you reassured him everything was fine. He hadn't gone too far, not yet.

"I'm all finished, now… Let me help you stand, Captain." as you both stood up, you could finally process what happened. He was in front of you, shirtless and flirty as hell. James looked so good… you couldn't believe this was happening.

"May I ask you a question, my hearty?" Your heart skipped a beat at the sweet way he referred to you as. "Of course, James." He looked right into your eyes, your legs shaking in anticipation.

"May I kiss you?" Your whole body burned, and for a moment you considered it genuinely "James…".

You caressed his face while he pulled you in with his left arm, but you blocked his lips with your fingers. "You're drunk, Captain… I want you to ask me another time. The same question."

"And what would be the answer?" He looked disappointed, but not mad in any way.

“If you want to write a story where Peter is the villain” BITCH THIS KID KILLS OFF LOST BOYS WHEN THEY START GETTING TOO OLD AND BREATHES HEAVILY WHENEVER HE GETS PISSED OFF BECAUSE HE BELIEVES WITH EVERY BREATH AN ADULT DROPS DEAD. Is that your perfect little lily-white hero? Get a clue (and pick up a book).

And then the cherry on this shit sundae — saying “now that’s a Peter Pan movie” in reference to Hook. No, sweetie, Hook is Spielbergian fanfiction. Hook is so far removed from the themes and narrative of JMB’s original story it’s actually offensive. (Though I will grant you that it’s a better movie in general than that Disney live-action atrocity that just came out…)

You wanna see an ACTUAL “Peter Pan movie”? Universal’s 2003 live-action Peter Pan. Oh but OOPS that movie “woobifies” Hook too and makes Peter look less than perfectly unproblematic so you might wanna avert your delicate eyes and stick to Rufio… 🙄
