Pet-en-l’air | c. 1770 ・・・ The pet-en-l’air robe was developed from the early 18th century casaquin and robe à la Française. As the century wore on the length of the jacket became peplum length. The pet-en-l’air was considered deshabille (undress) and would not be worn outside the home.
