Okay so I know tumblr ads are usually unbearably strange but like... what is going on!?! For the entire month of November my ads have either been for "all natural rodent repellent pouches" accompanied by pictures of dead rodents (I sincerely hope those are just trained rodents playing dead) or ads for a dating website for men seeking "sophisticated seniors" accompanied by somewhat suggestive pictures of elderly women in elegant formalwear.
What is the implication here?
Am I bringing these erudite elders back to my hypothetically rat-infested bachelor pad for an evening of romance and very serious pest problems? How are these ritzy retirees supposed to enjoy their cocktails and candlelit dinner when they are fending off legions of rats? And what kind of aspiring young suitor would bring the object of his desire back to such an environment, eh? How can I seek the hand of my snazzy senior citizen with my sensuous sonnets when Stuart Little is waiting in the wings? These posh pensioners are interested thoughtful young men who have their eye on marriage, not catching the bubonic plague from sitting on my couch.
I'm not trying to remake Willard nor do I wish to wine and dine winsome wrinkled women. To put it simply: What, dear Tumblr ad bots, is wrong with you?
#tumblr#tumblr ads#like wtf#wtf is going on#and why do the ad bots think my home has mice anyway?#my place has routine pest control every month#ad bots you have some esplainin' to do

Floridian 1: yeah, the lizards are definitely more of an issue. FL has a Lot Of Them and the iguanas are mostly an issue in the south (I couldn’t walk my terrier at night without a stick to whack them with because they’d come after her), and they’re super invasive so. We hate them lol. I had a Cuban anole living in the bush outside my bathroom window and she and her babies ate all the flies we’d usually get so she never got chased off. Sometimes snakes are issues, but as long as you leave the bitey ones alone you’re good. And gators don’t care about humans much, just make a lot of noise and they leave, or if they’re small just grab em by the tail and toss ‘em back into the water
lizards are sounding a Lot Less Cool with these additions
also yeah erosion!! that was the other issue i kept seeing along with the saltblasting winds
#anon#replies#lizards do sound like really good pest control though#i'd definitely let one stay if it ate all the flying ones and the scurrying ones#in the end the best way to live out my dreams is to rent a vacation home for three weeks

Some Splotches have names, usually given to them by other people.
They fit in the palm of human hands, and each have unique faceplates that they decorate with dyes made from plants and insects.
#they're just little guys who wanna hang out in your garden and eat pests and get a small percentage of your crops#it's fair! you get pest control. they get shelter and a home! :)#splotches#The one who painted the heart is named Picasso! :)

Is there anything more unsettling than your four cats staring in the same direction down the hall, only for you to later find a spider on the back of your bedroom door?
"Aww, what are you silly little guys doing over-? GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY, IS THAT A BIG HONKIN' RECLUSE???"
#rae is such a dork#having four cats means relatively decent pest control on the house but also they will certainly chase things under the doors#Poor spider was probably terrified I'm sure and usually recluses are docile but I just don't like them out in the open#They're one of the most venomous spiders in America and they're everywhere but they usually stay away from people#Absolutely not fun to push a door open and come face to face with one eye level#I try to repel them with mint and cedar and regular vacuuming and noise but this is peak season for them#Usually they get trapped in the sinks and tub because they want water#So they usually show up in the kitchens and bathrooms#Mom got bit by one way back in the early 2000s and her skin right there is still rather scarred#They hide in clothes and boxes so just give a quick shake of the item and inspect shoes and gloves before sticking limbs in them#They also hide under furniture and woodpiles#They're honestly quite polite spiders that are afraid of you but they can bite if they feel threatened#So I have to share my house for half of the year with them as they come out#Rural Nowhere home problems amirite??

Bug thoughts night. Time to learn things about bugs, whether you like it or not.
Did you know that the reason bug zappers are so effective is because they cook bugs in their shells? They quite literally boil a bug's blood, and since a bug's got an open circulatory system, it boils the rest of their organs with it. With most models, it lures the bugs to itself with a UV bulb, then kills them on the spot with a mesh of electrified metal - quickly, painfully, and with little to no hope of survival.
Because most bug zappers use a fluorescent UV lightbulb, their main catch is almost never mosquitoes - even if it's one that lures with pheromones, it casts a wide net, and it goes after just about any bug in the area that will be caught in it. Moths are the obvious one, but the majority of bug zapper catches are things like water bugs and midges - harmless bugs, but electricity doesn't discriminate between harmless and not. What matters is what's caught in the net is undesirable, and because it can be killed by electricity, it will be.
It is acceptable, because they're bugs. There are plenty of them, they're fine to kill, the world is better off without a few gross little bugs anyways. They're uncharismatic. Ugly. They're an acceptable loss. Who likes bugs, anyways? Who wants dirty little bugs in their space? In their homes? In their neighborhoods?
If it kills them dead, then it's an acceptable loss.
Might be fun to think about when writing your next story.
#whump#insect whump#nonhuman whumpee#electrocution#whump prompts#pest control#this Is a whump prompt post but we encourage you to stop using bug zappers also btw#when writing about nonhuman whumpees or whumpees that belong to marginalized species#please remember that painting things as “gross” and “bad” and “should be wiped out of your home” is very much how people justify atrocities#when it comes to calls for extermination its all the same reasons something doesnt deserve to live over and over again#and you tend to see the same patterns whether theyre talking about mosquitoes or rats or people#if you are dealing with any group of people that cannot sufficiently communicate pain especially#we realize we're sounding like a PETA commercial here please understand that we're talkng from a place of hating peta#our thesis here is 'people will justify atrocities by villainizing certain groups and you can and should use this in your writing'#my posts

How Do You Calculate Carpet Cleaning Costs?
Carpet cleaning costs are influenced by several factors, each playing a role in determining the final price. The most common pricing model involves charging per square meter, which means the larger the area, the higher the cost. However, other elements such as the carpet's material, condition, and the cleaning method also affect the total price.
Factors That Influence Carpet Cleaning Costs
Size and Area: The carpet's size directly impacts the cost, with companies typically charging $2 to $4 per square meter. Larger homes or offices naturally incur higher charges.
Type of Carpet: Delicate materials like wool or silk may require special handling, which can increase the price.
Condition of the Carpet: Heavily soiled carpets or those with stubborn stains often need intensive cleaning, adding to the cost.
Cleaning Method: Steam cleaning tends to cost more due to its deep-cleaning capabilities, while dry cleaning is generally quicker and cheaper.
Additional Services: Treatments such as stain removal, deodorizing, and sanitizing come with extra charges.
Why Choose Stain Solutions Carpet Cleaning?
At Stain Solutions Carpet Cleaning, we believe in transparent pricing. Our process starts with an on-site assessment to evaluate your carpet’s needs. This allows us to provide an accurate cost estimate, ensuring no surprises. Whether it’s a small stain or a large-scale cleaning job, we tailor our services to fit your budget and requirements.
