Second Hand Donga For Sale in Perth: Affordable Housing Solutions
Are you on the lookout for a cost-effective and versatile housing solution in Perth? Look no further, for second-hand dongas have emerged as a popular and practical choice for those in need of portable and affordable accommodation. These modular structures have gained significant attention in Western Australia, and in this article, we explore the world of second-hand dongas for sale in Perth, shedding light on their benefits, applications, and where to find the best deals.
The Donga: A Versatile Solution
The term "donga" may be unfamiliar to some, but in Western Australia, it's a widely recognized term for portable and modular buildings. These structures serve various purposes, from temporary accommodation for workers in mining and construction to more permanent housing solutions for remote and rural areas. Dongas are known for their versatility and can be easily adapted for different purposes. They are commonly used as:
Temporary Housing: In remote or resource-rich areas where workers are needed temporarily, dongas provide a quick and cost-effective solution. They are often used as on-site accommodations for mining and construction workers.
Rural Housing: In rural and remote regions where traditional housing options may be limited, dongas are an ideal solution. They can be customized to provide comfortable, long-term housing for families or individuals.
Office Space: Dongas can also be modified to serve as offices, meeting rooms, or administrative spaces. This versatility makes them valuable for businesses and organizations with fluctuating space requirements.
Tourist Accommodations: Some dongas are converted into cozy tourist accommodations or "glamping" units, catering to travelers looking for unique and comfortable experiences in the Australian wilderness.
Emergency Housing: In the case of natural disasters or emergencies, dongas can serve as temporary shelters, providing a safe haven for those in need.
Advantages of Second-Hand Dongas
Purchasing a second-hand donga in Perth offers several advantages over traditional housing or new modular structures:
Cost-Efficiency: Second-hand dongas are significantly more affordable than new ones, making them an attractive option for those on a budget. You can often find high-quality used dongas that have plenty of life left in them.
Quick Setup: Dongas can be delivered and set up relatively quickly, especially when compared to traditional construction. This speed is essential for industries with rapidly changing workforce needs.
Customization: While second-hand dongas come with pre-existing layouts, they can be customized to meet your specific requirements. Whether you need extra rooms, amenities, or accessibility features, modifications can be made to suit your needs.
Portability: Dongas are designed to be transportable, making them an excellent choice for locations where permanent structures are impractical. They can be moved to new sites as needed.
Durable Construction: Dongas are built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, which is crucial in the Australian climate. They are often constructed using robust materials that can endure extreme temperatures and weather.
Where to Find Second-Hand Dongas in Perth
If you're in the market for second-hand dongas in Perth, several avenues are worth exploring:
Online Marketplaces: Websites like Gumtree, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace often feature listings for second-hand dongas. These platforms provide a convenient way to browse and compare options from various sellers.
Local Dealers and Suppliers: Numerous companies specialize in dongas and modular buildings. These businesses may offer a range of second-hand options, and you can visit their showrooms to inspect the structures in person.
Auctions and Government Sales: Government agencies and mining companies occasionally sell off their used dongas through auctions. Keep an eye on announcements and listings from these entities to score a great deal.
Classified Ads: In addition to online listings, you can check local classified ads in newspapers and community bulletin boards for second-hand dongas.
Word of Mouth: Don't underestimate the power of word-of-mouth referrals. Friends, colleagues, or acquaintances in the mining or construction industry may have valuable leads on where to find quality second-hand dongas.
Considerations When Buying Second-Hand Dongas
While second-hand dongas offer many advantages, there are some key factors to consider before making a purchase:
Condition: Carefully inspect the donga for signs of wear and tear. Check for structural integrity, plumbing, electrical systems, and any necessary repairs.
Modifications: If you plan to make modifications or renovations, factor in the cost and feasibility of these changes when evaluating the price.
Transport and Installation: Determine the cost and logistics of transporting the donga to your desired location and the setup process. This can vary depending on the size and weight of the structure.
Regulations and Permits: Be aware of local building regulations and permit requirements for installing a donga on your property. Compliance is essential to avoid legal issues.
Utilities and Services: Ensure that the donga can be connected to essential utilities like water, sewage, and electricity at your chosen location.
Resale Value: Consider the potential resale value of the donga if your circumstances change in the future. Well-maintained dongas can retain their value.
In conclusion, Second Hand Donga For Sale Perth offer a versatile and cost-effective housing solution for a range of applications. Whether you need temporary worker accommodations, rural housing, or a unique tourist lodging, dongas can be customized to meet your needs. With the advantages of affordability, quick setup, and durability, they are a practical choice for many situations. When searching for second-hand dongas, explore online marketplaces, local dealers, auctions, and classified ads while carefully considering factors like condition, modifications, transport, permits, utilities, and resale value. By taking these considerations into account, you can find the perfect second-hand donga to meet your specific requirements and housing needs in Perth.

Thomas OCs: Emerson
Please note: In my take on the NWR, the Peel Godred branch is non-electrified, as shown in the TV series. Bear this in mind when reading any mention of the branch in these write-ups.
Tumblr media
Number: 76 (ex-BR 57951) Class: HR Clan Goods 4-6-0 Built: 1918 Arrived on Sodor: Uncertain - early 1970s? (entered NWR service in 1984) Service (Shed): Peel Godred Branch (Peel Godred) Livery: NWR Yellow
The branch line up to Peel Godred runs through some of the most rugged, mountainous scenery on the Island of Sodor, so engines running it have to be able to cope with some of the steepest gradients on the NWR network. However, the branch line’s track is also very lightly-laid, so those same engines have to be able to run on it safely. The two engines currently running the line fit the bill on both accounts, and the engine in charge of the line’s passenger work is Clan Callan - alias Callum.
Hailing from Scotland, Callum is naturally a formidable, headstrong soul. He knows his way around trucks, coaches and engines alike, and also knows the best ways to fight back against anyone who gives him trouble. However, he’s also somewhat passive-agressive, and so prefers more indirect methods of getting his own back. This has earned him a reputation as something of a trickster, but as he could tell you, he does have standards when it comes to this sort of thing - he never punches down at all, unless he’s absolutely certain the other guy deserves it.
Callum began his life in 1918 as Highland Railway #76, the second of eight engines in the Clan Goods class - the penultimate HR design before it became part of the LMS during the 1923 Grouping. Like the rest of his class, Callum was intended for heavy freight work on the Highland’s main line from Perth to Inverness. Indeed, this was how he started his career, but after the Grouping, standard LMS designs took over, and he was transferred to the Kyle of Lochalsh line. This ended up being something of a promotion for Callum, who as often as not found himself working passenger trains along the line.
The Clan Goods were somewhat longer lived than most other Highland designs, not being withdrawn until the early-50s. Callum himself was withdrawn in May 1951, but instead of being scrapped, he was cosmetically restored and put on static display at Perth station - very close to where he was once shedded. His plinth was quite close to the railway line, and so he was still able to keep in touch with other engines, and get a fix on what was going on throughout the rest of the network.
Callum remained plinthed at Perth until the early 1970s, when BR decided to partially modernize the station. Some of the work was to be done on the bit of platform where Callum was on display, and in order for them to get at it, he had to be moved elsewhere. So he was placed into storage in what was left of the old goods yard, on what he assumed would be a temporary basis. Sadly, however, the modernization would leave no room for his plinth, and nobody had any idea what was to happen to him...
It was around that time that, quite by chance, Sir Topham Hatt found out about Callum and his predicament, and offered to buy and restore him on his own premises. BR agreed to make the sale, and also put up half the cost of having Callum moved to Sodor by lorry. He arrived at Crovan’s Gate a few months later, and his overhaul began shortly afterwards. It was only at this point that Callum gained his name. In fact, he gained two - as a bit of a public relations exercise, he was officially named Clan Callan, in honour of Sodor’s own family of Scottish lords. Needless to say, this could easily be shorted to Callum, and this is the name he prefers to go by.
Work on Callum proved unusually sluggish by Crovan’s Gate standards, and so it wasn’t until 1984 - nearly ten years after he’d first arrived - that Callum finally turned a wheel on NWR metals. Over time, he gradually got used to running on a proper railway again, and was eventually allocated to the Peel Godred branch, which was in desperate need of additional motive power at the time. Callum’s worked the lines’s passenger service ever since, although he does sometimes return to freight work as and when required. While he enjoys his new life on Sodor, he still holds a place in his heart for his old home turf, and since the surrounding scenery very much resembles that of the Scottish Highlands, one could say Callum’s very much in his element!
Trivia
As mentioned above, I’ve decided to go against RWS canon, and have the Peel Godred branch as a non-electrified line. Originally this was because I had absolutely no interest in electric trains, but later it was because the Extended Railway Series has already done a pretty solid take on the branch line, and I felt like I couldn’t do my own take without it basically becoming a rip-off. So instead, I went down the TVS route, and stuck with steam and diesel operation.
I have actually created a small electric fleet, so that I have something to work with should I decide to re-electrify the line in my headcanon.
Having decided this, I then needed engines to run it - preferably engines that would be unique to that line. My take on the Peel Godred line is very much inspired by loads of lines in the Scottish Highlands, so a Scottish engine seemed like the most logical choice. As there were already a couple of Caledonian engines, and one of my OCs was already a North British type, the next major Scottish railway company was the Highland, so I decided to go with one of their engines.
I originally went with a Jones Goods, because it was the best-known HR class. At some point, however, I came across photos of the later Clan Goods class, and decided I liked the look of it much better. This happened after I’d rejigged my NWR stocklist so that the numbers bore more of a relation to the order certain engines arrived in. One side effect of this rejigging was that Callum, previously #79, was now #76. This was perfect, as the real Clan Goods were numbered from 75-82, which meant I didn’t have to put too much thought into which member of the class Callum would have been originally.
By the way, I’m well aware that the above photo is actually of one of the passenger Clan - I couldn’t find any photos of Clan Goods that were of good quality, decent size, and didn’t have bloody great watermarks over them.

Does a Shed Increase Home Value?
Most homeowners want to refurbish and upgrade their properties rather than purchase new ones in today's housing sector. If you intend to sell your home, it will look as if you are making a bad purchase, but it will raise the value of your property and make it easier to sell. A shed is an outstanding investment to add value to your property because of the growing prevalence of backyard sheds, man cave, and storage rooms. Perth benefits you not only while you live on the home but also if you wish to sell in the future.
If you find out what kind of shed you want, you'll probably wonder if the value of your home really increases. In general, the experts say no, the shelter of your property does not raise the value of your house, or at least a lot. Four evaluators from various regions across the country about the importance of the shed and metal carports kits added.
Tumblr media
How are the widespread carports and Triple Wide Car carports increase The Value of Your house?
If you don't plan to sell your property in the short term, Metal carports Direct sheds continue to be a valuable investment for many homeowners. You and your family will benefit from a new shed. Any of them are:
Structure added
Any additional building that is well built and brings elegance to your property adds value. This is how sheds give the home an additional appeal and make it look great. Many home holders used their sheds for a larger and more architecturally pleasing appearance of their houses.
Any Purpose, Offers Extra Space
Space is a premium in the valuation of land, and while many claim that a shed simply uses plenty of space, the fact is the contrary. Do you need an additional bedroom? Prepare your shed, prepare your shed. Do you need a studio of art? You head there. The room provided by a shed enables more movement within your house, which is quite nice.
Tumblr media
Safety Added
A garage offers additional peace of mind to ensure the safety and safety of your cars. A lockable garage is an excellent way to minimize the possibility of stealing.
Defense Against Weather
Protective elements are provided by our sheds and garages. A garage can provide protection from rough weather for cars, boats and other useful items.
Aesthetic Appeal
In order to compliment your house and farm, a well-preserved hut is strategically positioned to make your whole bunch more aesthetic while giving the property a reasonable price.
Final Words
Since the metal shed adds to your home's resale value, this proves that it's certainly worth the money to invest in a shed. It lets you live and helps you when you sell it again. It's great. Then again, after selling it to them, it proceeds to help the people who go home. This just shows how lasting and appealing a metal outdoor storage shed is and is another point of sale when you place your home on the market.
