Spring musing (04292024) : UNFINISHED

Spring’s always going to hurt regardless of the year, there’s a movement to it that you can’t get your grasp on and is going to leave you feeling left behind

It’s always going to be stupid trying to get your grasp on something that moves, something that you can’t control.

You can lay on your floor with your head spinning or in parking lots for hours but you can’t change what you’ve already done

Cosmic guilt isn’t changing your outcome, shame isn’t changing your outcome, you’re not bound by any kind of fate but you’re just stuck in a pattern that wants you dead.

Being overly reflective of things that don’t have meaning and trying to find proof of your existence in others just exasperates the feeling that you’ve been left behind.

Trying to punish yourself when no one is mad you isn’t going to fix your place in this nonexistent race.

Constantly complaining that you have more love then others, then doing everything you can to down play and ignore the love others are trying to give you isn’t going to somehow put you ahead.

No one is mad at you, there’s no such thing as being left behind, you’ve got more than enough love coming back to you yet every year you still punish yourself for every misstep possible.

Compulsions make you feel like a dog chasing its own tail, even when you get it, you can’t do anything with it.

Picking and picking and picking and fucking with things that can’t move because indulging in your own patterns hurts less then accepting what’s physically true.

The costs of these things is about 2 and a half hours of your life. 2 and a half hours in exchange for a numbness that never fully starves the feeling off.

he says i hate everyone except you and that is addictive and that is kind of romantic and beautiful because you're young and you're kind of a sarcastic asshole too and you don't like bad boys, per say, but you don't really like good ones either. and you like that you were the exception, it felt like winning.

except life is not a romance book, and he was kind of being honest. he doesn't learn to be nice to your friends. he only tolerates your family. you have to beg him to come with you to birthday parties, he complains the whole time. you want to go on a date but - people are often there, wherever you're going. he's just so angry. about everything, is the thing. in the romance book, doesn't he eventually soften? can't you teach him, through your own sense of whimsy and comfort?

at first - you know introverts often need smaller friend groups, and honestly, you're fine staying at home too. you like the small, tidy life you occupy. you're not going to punish him for his personality type.

except: he really does hate everyone but you. which means he doesn't get along with his therapist. which means he has no one to talk to except for you. which means you take care of him constantly, since he otherwise has no one. which means you sometimes have to apologize for him. which means he keeps you home from seeing your friends because he hates them. you're the single exception.

about a decade from this experience, you'll type into google: how to know if a relationship is codependent.

he wraps an arm around you. i hate everyone except you. these days, you're learning what he's actually confessing is i have very little practice being kind.

well, I can't say I expected the new chapter to feature Idia (metaphorically) going to (metaphorical) hell, getting a pep talk from his (metaphorical) Phantom brother which helps him finally move on once and for all from his brother's death, and (metaphorically) overblotting again to fight his way back out of (metaphorical) hell, only to have his darkest fear (non-metaphorically) come true when his mom goes through his computer and finds all his secret files. but I am glad it did!

also this is all a flashback for the purpose of explaining to our group what the heck is going on (whether or not any of it is getting through is another matter)

How do you break up with your dogs favorite person?

How do you break up with someone who hasn’t done anything wrong it’s just your currents of life are different. When there’s not a compromise that’s even half way fair for both of you.

How do you break up with someone so supportive and sweet to you. Someone so absolutely loving?

I wish he was who he was in freshman year, I wish he was still as ridged. I’m wishing for that so much I’m trying to find it in everything, I’m trying to become it.

I want some sort of vindication from this. I don’t want this to be a clean break with brain altering suffering.

I want this to be a release from something.

I want this to be a step towards freedom and a happier me.

But even then I don’t want to know that I’ll be ok after it.

I don’t want to use the resources and people and places he gave me to be ok. I don’t want to be able to lean on him even after everything to be ok.

How do you begin to swim in this and what good did I do to deserve it?
