I fucking lived for that book when I was a kid 😂 i got it at a book fair in like 3rd grade? And just hung onto it. I havent read those other two but I encourage hanging onto books from childhood. You never know when you might get the sudden urge to reread something and it's a bitch when you just cant find it (like that anthology of american myths and folklore I Just Cannot Find)

I haven't read any DA fanfiction since 2015, but now.. I feel the urge. 10 years worth of fics is a lot to trawl through though, do you have any must-read recommendations? (obvs I've already fallen on your work like a starving dog)

I must confess that I've been more of a writer than a reader for a hot sec but I know that @rookinthecrownest has a very cute series here on tumblr (not sure if they've carried it over to ao3) @laurelsofhighever has a bunch of Alistair/Cousland fics that have made me cry multiple times here and I don't even play as a Cousland or romance Alistair, @persephinae put up this gem a few days ago that I'm saving for a rainy day that I know will instantly make me feel better (its hit after hit with her and i'm so lucky we have so many overlapping fandoms)

I personally interpret it the way that Raphael was taken with Hope in some form. Not necessarily love, but he did like her - because he calls her "sweetling" and tried to shower her in gifts. But because she kept refusing him, he started hating and despising her. And now he just torments her for fun.

Not dealing very well with rejection.

Would be lots of red flags irl, but I don't care because he's fictional, so I can imagine that I CAN FIX HIM!
