Going feral as I think about my greek soulmates percabeth who were Perseus and Andromeda in a past life and Odysseus and Penelope in another. Falling in love in every lifetime. Listening to “Would You Fall In Love With Me Again” from Epic and thinking about post Tartarus Annabeth having to cope and deal with the more cruel and dark version of Percy she saw in the pit and coming out the other side still loving him. He hesitates before reaching for her and his touch is so gentle and barely there, his hands tremble slightly as if he’s afraid he’ll hurt her and Annabeth is sure that no matter what he does, he’ll always be hers. He’ll always be her love. He’ll always be her best friend and soulmate. She’ll always love him.

The denizens of this academic district (Vasselheim does have one after all) give their party a wide berth. Which is completely unfair - their party is perfectly presentable. They bathed and bedded at Pike and Grog’s place first! It had a spare room (“For my great-great grandpaw Wilhand,” Pike had explained) to accommodate them - and a chill-enchanted box to keep the dragon’s larger organs in now that they were out of the cold. Dragon bits they now carry between them.

On second thought, perhaps the caution is warranted. 

Grog stops them before a very unassuming building and, with the hand not involved in keeping a dragon’s heart steady on his shoulder, knocks politely.

And knocks less politely. 

“Gruude!” he bellows nicely. “We’ve got the parts for you!”

When this fails, and several renditions of versions of ‘It’s thawing! Starting to stink out here! My puny friends’ arms are hurtin’!’ also fails to elicit a response, Grog peeks left, then right, then ever-so-gently breaks the doorknob and lets himself in. 

Percival (who is not at all tired from lugging the bag of Colding, puny was hyperbole) steps up to follow him inside only to bump into the goliath’s back. A drop of remaining dragon blood is jostled onto his shoulder. 

“Oh,” says Grog. “Pike! I don’t think he looks too good.”

Concerned, Percival squeezes himself into the gap between doorframe and muscle - and finds himself stuck there as he’s struck by the scent of death. He gags, coughs, feels his eyes water. 

Despite the stinging tears blurring his vision, even he can clearly see what must be Ozwyn Gruude’s corpse contorted beside a floating chair.

Percival gathers himself. Inhales - no, no, that was a mistake. He holds his breath instead and takes stock of the room. Sparse disorder in the neatly-organized lab might indicate a scuffle; the blood on the floor has had time to sink in and feed… something organic. And Gruude’s skin, beyond the multicolored hues of decomposition, is marked by jagged, crawling wounds. Unlike necrosis, unlike lightning, but too similar to both to ignore - and scrawled in a vivid red that draws the eye.

“Oh,” says Pike, like they did not just walk into a crime scene. She clumsily skirts the worst of the mess, places the dragon talons neatly on a coffee table, and kneels next to the body. 

“So!” She claps her hands together. “This’ll take, like, an hour? So... I guess you guys should get comfortable? Don’t touch anything, Grog - you know how these nerds can be about their stuff.”

Opens my palms for either Poly-Clueless or Poly-extras !!! Or both if you're feelin it!

Poly-Clueless is my first time writing fic in 15 years.

I normally struggle to get original ideas, but it's surprisingly easy for me to come up with stuff for this fandom. I had recently stopped text role-playing as much and was looking for ways to keep some of my time dedicated to writing, so this was great timing.

Poly-Clueless started as just a one shot of how I thought Percy would approach realizing he maybe isn't as straight as he thought he was. I personally think Percy is demisexual, for reasons (I could elaborate, but won't to save space). But if you're a cis-gender AMAB who has only been attracted to your girl best friend it would be pretty easy to just assume you were straight in our heteronormative society.

So if we want to prompt Percy to think about this we have to reframe his idea of what attraction is and the part it plays in forming romantic relationships. And of course if he was grappling with that who would he go to for help, but Annabeth? And then how would she deal with the realization?

I also strongly feel like Percy and Annabeth would be happier with a polyamorous relationship? Not that they are unhappy now! But I think they would both enjoy it and that it would make their relationship with each other even stronger.

So those were some of the thoughts feelings and questions that went into creating Poly-Clueless. It's sort of like, the queer exploration story I wish I had read when I was a teenager because a lot of it is the characters dealing with feelings I had when I was growing up that I didn't know what to do with. I actually have the next two chapters of the story written, but I got stuck editing cause I was unhappy with this scene between Jason and Nico and didn't know how to fix it. Recently I revisited the story and hated the first chapter so I decided to rewrite it. Lol.

Poly-Extras is just naughty stuff that I want to take place in the Poly-Clueless story universe. But it turns out Jason is a modest person and doesn't put out the first month or something because he won't cooperate with my desires. XD

everytime i see things where ppl are like, upset at percy and blaming him for calypso still being on that island or like, forgetting abt bob im like....okay but when was he supposed to do smth abt either of them. and why is it supposed to be on him to do smth?

cause like, if we're talking calypso, he did what he could. he made the gods promise, he made zeus swear on the styx how was he supposed to know whether or not zeus actually followed through. and then he had what, a few months at best, recovering from a war, trying to focus on his mortal life, yk, pretty much all he wanted, before he was kidnapped by hera and the gods closed down communications. and then hes homeless and amnesiac and then hes going on quest after quest, like. he doesnt even have time to breathe, forgive the boy for not thinking of calypso in this time.

and bob/iapetus like. ive seen many percy is so "manipulative" and "toxic" takes in regards to him and like?? do ya'll even remember when percy and iapetus met? cause when they met iapetus was an enemy doing his damndest to kill thalia, percy, and nico. percy thinking fast and telling him they were "friends" was percy being smart and saving their lives. and he very clearly did have regrets in House of Hades abt how he left things off with bob too, like, that isnt the action of a self-absorbed hero at all.

Like yes, Percy can be manipulative, and he fascinates me for it, but in that one instance where he names Bob and says they’re friends, like. Can you rlly blame him??

Yo! I'm doing a Heroes of Olympus rewrite!

I'm not a huge fan of how some scenes go in canon and how the characters esp the gods are handled in Hoo, and after reading one too many rewrite/AU fics, I've decided fuck it, imma make my own.

I'm changing quite a few things, like:

- making Piper's memories not be tampered with and as a result be way closer to Leo (credit to Heroes of Juno by @queenjunothegreat for this idea!)

- MOTHERLY HERA/JUNO WHO PSEUDO-ADOPTS JASON FTW also parental Lupa but that'll be more apparent in a Jason prequel/sequel(depends on how I wanna format it) I’ll write after TLH is done

- slowburn valgrace instead of comphet jiper

- Leo and Piper QPR(+Jason when Piper stops being his #1 opp). Jasipereo ftw babyyy

- the whole series is just gonna have a good deal of focus on the Lost Trio. I'm not gonna shaft anyone ofc but my favorite punching bags characters are just gonna get extra love :3

- Jason's gonna be considerably more feral cuz CMON MAN WAS RAISED BY WOLVES(this is more prominent in the later books cuz in TLH he was alr feral, going at 2 giants with his BARE ASS HANDS)

- Jason has more bite cuz DAMMIT HE DESERVES TO BE ANGRY/BITTER AND CLAP BACK. HIS LIFE IS SHIT, LET MY BRO BE MAD

- more exploration into Jason's character cuz man was shafted so hard :(

- exploration of characters' powers in general, def buffing the Big Three kids to be as strong as Percy cuz holy cow he's OP. I love Percy and his OP-ness, but the other Big Three kids should be just as OP

- Zeus is the God of Justice, which we don't see much of in PJO's characterization of him, but Jupiter is Roman and hence is much more strict in the RRverse, so consequently I think his domain of law and order is more central to Jupiter than his greek counterpart, so I'd like to explore Jason having powers related to that and being an absolute powerhouse when it comes to debates and politics despite hating them

- characterizing the Gods differently from canon as I'm a Hellenist and writing them as they are in canon makes me like. Kinda uncomfortable. I will be using mythic literalism as that is what PJO/HoO's based on and I'm not rewriting the very foundations of the series, so they will still have committed the things they did in mythology, though I'm keeping them largely unaltered from the Og greek mythos and unsanitized as this isn't intended for a young audience like PJO is. Their behavior won't be exactly like their depictions in myths nor how they actually are irl, it's a mix of both(Ex: Zeus has still done heinous shit so he won't be as great as he is irl, but he isn't supremely petty and bitchy like he is in PJO.). This uhh. Will probably mean that PJO events would go differently which would influence HOO but if I think about that too much I'm gonna wanna do a PJO rewrite too and akbhdhd so just imagine that everything that goes on in PJO goes as canon (for now at least) for some reason or another.

- Octavian and Jason are were best friends cuz I said so. This change is inspired by To Storm and Fire(a Heroes of Olympus rewrite) which I am in LOVE with. The antagonistic side characters(like Drew and Octavian) got very little development or character exploration so l'm definitely giving them that in my rewrite!

- The Seven feel and are much closer together

- delving more into the sevens' trauma pre-camp, might also do a one/two shot for each of them. Jason’s a given cuz I’m writing a whole ass fic or even series dedicated to his past, Leo and Piper definitely, probably also Hazel and Annabeth, not sure on Percy and Frank cuz for Frank I’m def going into the trauma that comes with growing up in an Asian household but don’t have too many ideas on how to execute that, and for Percy I don’t have all that many ideas in general outside of the little we know in PJO(I used to think we knew a lot but honestly, we really don’t? Like we know Poseidon left, Sally had to work a lot, Gabe sucks, and he got kicked out of 6 six schools in 6 years and the reasons, but we don’t have any concrete details. There might be more in HoH, I haven’t read it yet so lmk if there is). Open to any ideas for this!

- camp is. Tense. It's been only a few months since the war, grief is still fresh, and Jason being tall, blonde, and blue-eyed with a scar ain't helping 💀 some people think Silena was a hero, others think she was a villain, some people sympathized with Luke, others despised him, there's a lotta differing views.

I have loads more ideas that I won't get into here cuz the post'll get way too long, but l'd love to hear what you guys think! What scenes/characterizations should I change? What topics would you like to see handled differently? What should I add? I'm open to any and all suggestions!

Currently outlining TLH, will start posting it on my ao3 once I have the first chapter and 4-5 buffer ones written so I'll prolly start posting it in a month or two? Idk, depends on my workload irl and if I get hit by writer’s block. Maybe less, maybe more, who knows. I'll be writing a bunch of shorter stories for specific moments, time between books, and namely a prequel/tih sequel focusing on Jason's past and who he was before Hera wiped his memory. ive always been really into greek mythology (percy jackson kid ftw) and ive been really into epic the musical and looking at ordering a copy of the odyssey to read, but im dyslexic and worried about which translation to pick. the complicated sentence structures and word choices typical in older books and poetry is really hard for me to understand. tldr: what english translation(s) of the odyssey would you recommend / which ones have you read?

U h hm I think I'd recommend Emily Wilson :0 the translations I normally read are in little prose text boxes but Wilson has hers spaced out and in poetry form so that might be easier to read. If you read online, Poetry in Translation has a good version because it also highlights a bunch of the names/places in blue so you can click on them to see their definition and stuff, and also it makes good markers for like reading rest stops

(I'm v tired so I'm sorry if this isn't very coherent.)

I think it's less that Percy deliberately acts clueless more that he doesn't correct peoples initial assumption of him, he won't go out of his way to appear weaker/stupider but he also won't prevent others from viewing him as such.

Percy knows the advantages of being thought of as "stupid" or "slow", I don't doubt that by the first book he's already figured out the best and easiest way that causes others to believe he's "all brawn no brains" is to let their pride and prejudice taint their view of him.

Think about it, Percy's been bullied and abused by not just his peers but also almost every single adult in his life for years, he's heard it all before and he knows that no matter what he does they'll always view him as lesser for things outside of his control (ADHD, Dyslexia, the fact he's poor, born to and raised by a single mother, not being white (cause there's no fucken way Percy's white) etc), he knows that the people around him will forever judge him based on first impressions and that they'll never even think about getting to know the real him.

There's also his horrible self esteem to keep in mind, part of the reason Percy stops getting mad when people call him stupid is because as he gets older he becomes desensitized to the insults, not only does he expect the insults and offhanded comments he also starts to believe them. You can only hear everyone insisting that you're stupid for so long before doubt starts to creep in.

But yes, the Aphrodite Cabin absolutely spill what they know to Percy, not only is he easy to talk to and get along with, he also never once demeans or underestimates them just because their mother is the Goddess of Love.

(Side headcanon, Percy doesn't fear any of the Gods, however he's very wary of Lady Aphrodite and Lady Hestia.

He's wary of Aphrodite because not only is she the oldest Olympian and a War Goddess who's technically more of a Titan than a God seeing as she was born from seafoam and the Primordial God of the Sky, but she's also the Goddess of Love and Lust, two things that are literally everywhere, two things that I argue are the base of every foundation in this world.

He's wary of Hestia because she's the Titan King's first born, she's the heir to the Mad Titans Throne, Hestia is the eldest Kronide and that means something.)

Rachel has a room somewhere that she's been steadily filling with artwork of every piece of juicy gossip from now to five centuries ago that she's been painting for years, she's been dying to share with someone and that someone is Percy.

Onto the next headcanon: SIREN PERCY FUCK YEAH‼️‼️ ‼️‼️

There's a reason he's immune to Charmspeak, there's a reason he wasn't affected when he heard the Sirens songs in the Sea of Monsters, the Call of the Sirens doesn't work on one of their own.

There's just something about Percy that draws people in, his deep sea coloured eyes, his solid stance and powerful presence, his quiet and mysterious demeanor, and most of all his voice.

His voice, there's just something so enchanting about it, his words contain some sort of allure that others can't help but be drawn too. On land it's subtle, strong but unnoticeable, less of a command and more of a suggestion.

But in the water? In the water it's all consuming, inescapable, the allure in Percy's voice is so powerful it's suffocating, those who hear it can't help but focus solely on him.

While the Siren Song is something Percy's always had, he hadn't always been able to use it. In order to access the power he had to first learn how to read people at a glance, something he's been able to do since before he hit double digits, and as such, Percy's Siren Song is very strong. Percy uses his Siren Song a bit different than most, while he can use the song just like other Sirens, most of the time he's subconsciously using it to boost his skills in persuasion, manipulation and bribery.

Percy and Grover are the two biggest gossips in the riordanverse and no one can convince me otherwise.

Percy/Grover knows when the other has just learned something juicy cause of their empathy link (that's been completely forgotten buy literally everyone, something I cry bout everyday).

Now don't get me wrong, Percy and Grover would never share/spread what they know outside of each other, they know how damaging rumours can be.

I just hc that Percy subconsciously seeks out information on other people as a sort of "passive" defense mechanism if that makes sense.

With how little people tell him (if they tell me anything at all) and how often everyone, even those closest to him, deliberately keeps him in the dark, his habit of seeking out "gossip" and "rumors" when he was younger steadily developed into a habit of seeking and hoarding whatever information he could find.

Like he doesn't need to know but he'd like too, and virtually nothing about his behavior towards the others would change aside from the fact he'd be more prepared to interact/deal with the person he's talking to/facing, more prepared to "code switch" in a way.

Which loops in well with the fact that many people (Grover, annabeth, Thalia, Bianca, Zoe etc) confide in Percy/tell him bout their pasts/secrets easily enough, and while Percy listens to and empathizes with them he rarely offers up his own experiences.

One of the only times I can remember where Percy tried to get someone to see/understand his pov with him was in TLT where he asked annabeth something to the effect of "what if it was your dad that was kidnapped?" and annabeth replied with something like "I wouldn't care" which understandably surprised Percy. I think that interaction is part of the reason why Percy never speaks about himself/his past with others, it's obviously not the only thing that contributed but I think it was a decent sized factor in maybe not creating but rather cementing the idea that Percy should keep his cards as close to his chest as possible, and if he ever had to share any of his cards I think he'd like to know how he should share them, like how he should phrase things and what points he should make yk?

The more he knows bout the person he may have to interact with, the easier it would be to "make a plan" so to speak (and by "make a plan" I mean that Percy wouldn't have to worry much bout stepping into uncomfortable territory if that makes sense)

Let's not forget that despite what everyone says and believes (both in universe and in fandom), Percy is not only smart as hell, he's also incredibly observant and he notices a lot of things, he'd find it real easy to build a profile on everything he comes into contact with.

Grover, due to the empathy link, did pick up Percy's habit and adopted it himself but he also just straight up likes to gossip

I started shipping Dick Grayson and Percy Jackson as a joke and then got accidentally invested. Help.

The thing about them is that I think they would Know. They would each know that the other had been though more than any one person could be expected to bear. They would feel secrets like a weight between them. And they would just. Not ask. They would decide to be eachother's simple thing. A bright spot of good in a world that's too hard.

Dick comes across as a ray of sunshine but he keeps up with Percy's snark. Percy's bleeding heart for the downtrodden and disdain for any authority endears him to Dick. They just have complimentary energies.

What makes this funny is how everyone else reacts to them.

Dick's family is panicking, since Percy is The Most Suspicious Man on the Planet. He works six months out of the year at summer camps that don't exist. He was accused of terrorism as a twelve year old. They keep trying to bring this up with Dick, who is exaggerating oblivoiusness. "What, Percy, suspicious? Never. He's great with kids, I'm sure the campers love him, isn't that sweet?" Tim is pulling out his hair.

Meanwhile, Percy's telling Annabeth (who he is still dating, polyamory ftw) all about his new guy, and Annabeth is like, "Let me get this staight. You're dating a rich trust fund kid, who's also a police officer, named Dick? That's not a real guy. That's a parody of a person. Who are you and since when do you tolerate cops."
