We have spent a lot of time driving the bike around Bali, just "getting lost" and discovering the country. Everywhere we go, we find smiling faces, giant welcoming HELLOs, and locals who are helpful and totally open to letting me take their photos. The trick is that you have to initiate it. You can pass by someone who will never give you a second look, but when you wave or say hello, they completely light up! I've never seen sincerity to this level, and tbh I say hi to everyone I can because their reaction is so freaking cute and contagious 😁 It's hard to be in a bad mood when you encounter people that seem genuinely happy to see you and it's complete proof that small gestures can make a HUGE impact. This is Srabi/Serabi Solo, another Balinese street food, this one originating from Central Java. This small pancake is made of rice flour and coconut milk, giving it the perfect blend of sweet and savory, fluffy and dense. It's normally cooked over charcoal and topped with jackfruit, banana, chocolate or creamy cheese. We enjoyed chatting with the vendors, man and wife team, while waiting for our food. The wife comes from Java and this is her family recipe.
