What are you doing to ensure fertility and sustainable land? Terrestrial pollution ranges from social, economical, and to political interests and hereafter subject soils to either a degenerative or regenerative impact respectively. Awareness to educate multitudes about eco friendly moves toward settlement, investment, and government should be key to address terrestrial productivity. • #notrash #environmentfriendly #ecohome #plasticfree #elijahartivism #ecoproducts #ecologia #biodegradable #ecology #atmospheric #zerowaste #ecofriendly #terrestrial #peoplefortheplanet #pelafam #believeinbetter #atmospheric #leadtheway #terrestrial #bethechange #savethewaves #eco #gogreen #aquatic #minimaldesign #aquatic #saveouroceans #ecofriendly #compostable #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/CjcS2LkIVZs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today is #EarthDay but every day should be earth day. 💯 Our planet is precious and provides everything that we need to survive; it’s our responsibility to respect and protect Mother Earth but we are failing. It’s time for humanity to make drastic changes, we must learn to coexist with nature. We may not be able to change the laws but we CAN change the way we are living our lives. I challenge you to analyze your daily routine and find at least 3 ways that you can minimize your carbon footprint. Feel free to share your ideas below, let’s motivate each other to be #PeopleForThePlanet. 💪 Photo: @jonlorentz for @mila_thelabel (at Ocean Beach, San Diego) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwkEC8_HICH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1r05xb1bnrcnr

Wooing the Wild
Tumblr media
Rhucha Kulkarni WWF Volunteer for Tiger Conservation Program
The pug-mark stared at us – solitary yet stark. Small yet conspicuous, it conjured images of lithe beasts and hungry fangs. This heady concoction of images flowed through my veins as my body reacted in its classic response- a mix of fright, flight and fight- shivers down my spine and an accelerated heartbeat. I tried containing my heightened excitement by telling myself that this ‘wild discovery’ was anything but close to our lookout; after all we were here for a different purpose. Little did I know this was albeit, a minor trailer in the upcoming scheme of things. I had after all; set out to Woo the Wilderness.
It all began one fine day as I was browsing the WWF website out of interest. An avid wildlife & nature traveler, I had started toying with the idea of getting more seriously involved in the wonderful realms and schemes of nature. What better way than to volunteer time and effort for a purpose closely connected to wildlife? Surely this would provide me the occasional thrill in an otherwise routine urban existence! And so it started– post my application for the Tiger Conservation Project of the Satpuda-Maikal Landscape and a brief interaction with the Project Lead - I found myself planning for a two week escape into the wilderness of the Balaghat forests, an important part of the Kanha-Pench corridor in central India. The build-up to the event was no less melodramatic - a medley of thoughts crossed my mind as my imagination ran wild - what would the new place be like, who would I meet, what work would I do? Not that I was unfamiliar with travelling solo - my 3 week solo backpacking trip to Himachal has prepared me well. And yet this was different - the prospect of spending time out there in the untamed vistas of India’s jungles, assisting the WWF team was to be a heart-racing affair! Of this, I was sure! Of course, the constant interaction with and support from the WWF team prior to commencement helped me gain significant perspective!
I landed in Gangulpara after a journey through winding lanes. Water shortage was a constant worry up here, I was told. I had figured that out with the huge canisters of water that were spilling splashes onto the gypsy floor with each careening turn. I had conditioned my mind - no water means no bath for the next few days! After all, I figured, when in the wild, what option do you have than playing by nature’s rules? Let’s give that a shot too, I thought! As I got to know the team, I could not help but be endeared with their hilarious nicknames - we had a Balloo straight out of the Jungle Book  And I could envision a ‘Lalloo’ doling out entertaining ‘gyaan’ to the ‘aam aadmis’! To top it off there was the chanting ‘Pundit’ and the “wildernized” girl from my state.  Maybe it is the minimalistic life - cooking food together, helping out in chores and serene evenings soaking in the pristine natural beauty - that makes you connect and converse, in a way far removed from daily reality. What else could explain the instant comfort that was established as the team, shared and laughed, argued and discussed! And yet a sense of the greater good prevailed - we set out on business with simmering passion and a higher purpose - the welfare of the wild.
The action cranked up with the commencement of the Otter Survey Project. Newness spurs sharing and we shared and learnt about the ways of this unique carnivore. From the highly technical maneuvers of GPS enabled tracking to the softer skills of sign spotting and scat-collection, the expedition opened up my eyes to a whole new world! As a newbie and an outsider to the processes, the project proved a test of physical and mental endurance. Each day opened up new vistas with every new terrain. I found myself being tested physically, trudging through the underbrush one on day and scaling towering boulders akin to rock-climbing the next! We traversed the unknown terrains of the Uskal Nullah while depending on the know-how of the local villagers; their word was both our compass and guidebook. While some days brought euphoria with plenty of otter-evidence gathered, other days dashed our hopes by turning up dismal traces of the elusive carnivore. And we sought it with an unrelenting perseverance, as a team with a sole one mission. I started learning the tricks of the trade - high attention to detail, sharing of tasks and conditioning the mind to keep going when the going got difficult. Having completed a major part of the Otter Survey, my next destination was to be the woody terrains of Bor Tiger Reserve for the camera trapping exercise. The opportunity was intriguing, I lapped up the technicalities of the camera trapping process, reading data and realigning the positions of cameras with the expert help of my project lead. Sharing and caring for the wild ran deep in the veins of the team; as I got to know them better, I felt this positivity spilling over in a pleasantly infectious way!
The ways of the wild have much to teach. I learnt about the realities of life, being called out to me by the different elements of nature.
The arduous treks in the field taught me that no amount of preparation or counselling can prepare you for the real world. Accept what comes your way - be it obstructive boulders or life-giving streams. But do not merely accept - embrace the hurdles and find your way to go on.
The occasional pug-mark of a tiger or a leopard stood testimony to the  harmony of nature - of laws of co-inhabitance and natural harmony, only to be marred by indiscriminate human activity. Seeing extensive human encroachment and forest fires even deep within the forest opened my eyes to the gravity of the issue - the tragic effects of human greed.
The tranquillity of nature urged me to let go of my inhibitions and be myself. It urged me to do the craziest of things - from swimming in the untouched waters of a natural reservoir to going in search of a tiger on foot with the patrol team. It helped me discover the simple joys of nature; and focus on what is truly important. It rekindled in me the joy of nature; reminding me of humanity’s duty to pass it on to our future generations.
Volunteering along with the WWF team taught me all this and much more…
A lesson thathelped me rediscover the free spirit in me…
A dedication that rekindled my sense of duty towards all things natural…
A realization that each of us can make a difference in the struggles of our planet…
A vision of Hope for Mother Earth…
It was just a question of…
Appreciation, Awareness, Acceptance and Action.
A question of taking the first baby steps…
Towards Wooing the Wilderness…
Will need to be explained a bit more, or left out altogether

Are communities allotting to enhancement of air quality? Atmospheric pollution involves majorly emissions like industrial, engine & greenhouse gas which halt air quality in our space resulting in global warming and its related evil. Advocacy to cut down carbon emissions calls for industrial integration from fossil fuel and transformation to clean and renewable energy. #notrash #environmentfriendly #ecohome #plasticfree #elijahartivism #ecoproducts #ecologia #biodegradable #ecology #zerowaste #ecofriendly #terrestrial #peoplefortheplanet #pelafam #believeinbetter #atmospheric #leadtheway #bethechange #savethewaves #eco #gogreen #aquatic #minimaldesign #saveouroceans #ecofriendly #compostable #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/CjcR3jRIOYq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Should communities emphasize on clean water patterns? Aquatic pollution exposes livelihoods to disease outbreaks and also threatens life underwater, hence destroying a basic need of life, as well as, an element of nature. Resilience is therefore crucial in preserving our drainage channels exceedingly free from pollution to improve sanitation and hence reduce loss of biomass. • #notrash #environmentfriendly #ecohome #plasticfree #elijahartivism #ecoproducts #ecologia #biodegradable #ecology #zerowaste #ecofriendly #terrestrial #peoplefortheplanet #pelafam #believeinbetter #atmospheric #leadtheway #bethechange #savethewaves #eco #gogreen #aquatic #minimaldesign #saveouroceans #ecofriendly #compostable #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/CjcQngAIijs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Spores are one of the most important fungi features and they're how fungi reproduce. At the end of the mushrooms growth cycle, it shoots millions of microscopic spores into the environment to breed new ones. • The mycelium is almost like its roots, a hidden underground network that reaches under the forest floor. These penetrate and assimilate nutrients from the soil and decaying matter to ensure the mushroom's growth and development. • The fruiting body of a mushroom is an identical and distinctive feature we think of when we think of a mushroom. This part is above the ground, and contains many of the most valuable therapeutic fungi features. #notrash #environmentfriendly #ecohome #plasticfree #ecoproducts #ecologia #elijahartivism #biodegradable #ecology #zerowaste #ecofriendly #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #peoplefortheplanet #pelafam #believeinbetter #leadtheway #bethechange #savethewaves #eco #gogreen #minimaldesign #saveouroceans #ecofriendly #compostable #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/Chl_024Lgl7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The term "ecological crisis" is often applied to environmental issues caused by economic growth, #population growth, #urbanization, intensification of #agriculture, rising #energy use, and #transportation. These human activities caused a magnitude of climate change, biodiversity loss, and plastic pollution which have emerged as major global challenges during the first few decades of the 21st century. Some regions like East Africa were already experiencing #drought and #famine due to agricultural system failures and climate change, and the price increases are expected to make the situation worse. Even Global North countries that usually have secure food supplies, such as the UK, are beginning to experience the direct impacts of cost inflation due to food insecurity. By investing in resilience, @WFP can build self-reliance, stabilize severely damaged communities, and help reduce long-term costs. In Central America, @WFP has supported 32,000 people affected by El Nino in the Dry Corridor of #ElSalvador, #Guatemala, and #Honduras to adapt to the impacts of drought and improve livelihoods through asset creation and income generation. • #notrash #environmentfriendly #ecohome #plasticfree #ecoproducts #biodegradable #elijah_artivism #ecology #zerowaste #ecofriendly #peoplefortheplanet #believeinbetter #leadtheway #bethechange #eco #gogreen #ecofriendly #compostable #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch6vb1qr_zo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
