No one asked for this but it's too late now.
disabled/mentally ill/chronically ill child and which BAU parent would be the most accomodating.
(of course all of them would be supportive and do their best but some of them would be naturally more accomodating for certain things. Just trust me.)
Some of these are really specific and others are more general be kind please it was 2 am when I thought of this
Spencer- absolutely the best dad an autistic kid could ask for. He knows the signs before a meltdown and exactly what to do. If you're non verbal he learns sign language to help you, gets you stim toys based on what motor function you find the most soothing, and this man would be the biggest supporter of your special interests (really this needs no explaination. I could go on for hours about this)
JJ- a learning disability. Not only is she mama bear who will fight a teacher that critisized you but her whole job revolved around communicating well. She knows how to adjust and break things down and go slow. She would figure out the best way to accomodate you and follow through every time. You never have to worry about her losing her patience with you, she knows you need breaks, and she doesn't care what grade you get- she's just proud that you tried your hardest and got through it.
Penelope- Depression. Not only is this woman nearly impossible to be sad around, but Garcia understands sadness and grief and darkness. She doesn't like it, but she understands it and how awful it feels. She also understand that sometimes you just have to feel the feelings and not try to fix them right away. She's all sunshine and rainbows, but she knows you have to weather the storm first. She helps you get through it, slow and steady, but once it's time to get up and going she knows how to do that too.
Morgan- Any physical disabilty. This man would find the best house possible and then restore it and fit it with any ramp, handles, resizing, etc. you need. Would totally redo your dining room to be a first floor bedroom if you needed it and outfit it with an accessible shower. He finds a way to modify just about any sport you want to try so you can play. Can and will fight buisnesses over their lack of following of accessible laws.
Emily- Ambulatory wheenchair user/dynamic physical disability. She makes sure you have any mobility aids, modifications to the living space, and will fight people if they don't follow accessible laws. But she also makes you feel badass- she points out that canes and crutches make great weapons (talk shit get hit) and using your wheelchair is a power move she always encourages you to take if you need it. If you need bravery, she'd let you borrow hers. Would cut a death glare to anyone who questioned your validity.
Hotch- emotion and mood disorders. Hotch is so steady when it comes to his mood and emotions and he's great at not taking things personally. So it doesn't matter how high or low you are or if you blow up at him and say things you don't mean because he knows it's not always in your control. You can depend on him to be okay when you aren't and make descision when you don't trust that you're in the right state of mind. He's your rock- always stable and consistent and reliable, even when you can't be.
Rossi- disordered eating. HEAR ME OUT OKAY. A lot of people who restrict have one special dish/snack that has significant and GOOD meaning to it and a lot of times it plays a really big role in recovery and Rossi would make sure you have that whenever you want. If you have more selective tendencies he's sure to get the exact thing you like every time because no child of his is going to eat generic we all know the brand name is better. Rossi believes that a relationship with food should be one of love and he helps foster that in the most sensitive and kind way possible

Y/n, certified collector of all things creepy and weird: my bones are almost clean :)
Garcia: HUH?

Morgan: what the fuck does that even mean
Emily: and you guys say I'm the crazy one

tw : nudes and sexual abuse
i pulled up outside the bau, feeling sick. garcia was in here and i was praying she could help me. i hadn't been able to show my face at school for months and mum had no idea. i couldn't tell her. i couldn't dare - what would she think of me? would she call me a whore? a slag? like the rest of them. i knew my mum was usually understanding but at the same time, this was serious.
i left the elevator with my visitor badge on and tried to stay out of sight. i knew mum was on a case and not in town but i didn't know about anyone else. i was well known at the bau, people loved me but i didn't want to be recognised now. i felt ashamed looking at my reflection.
i knocked on the door to garcia's computers and heard her little chime from inside 'two seconds my love'. she didn't know who it was but she called everyone the sweetest names. she just radiated love and positivity, i could already feel myself feeling better. to my shock, jj opened the door. "y/n!" she cheered, smiling widely. "y/n?" garcia said, spinning on her chair. "emily's on a case, did she not tell you?" jj said, concerned. "oh erm," i muttered and lowered my head. "i came to see garcia." "oh come in sweet cheeks!" garcia said, standing up and welcoming me in. "do you want me to leave you to it?" jj asked sweetly but something compelled me to shake my head. i needed her support too. "sit down baby, are you okay?" garcia asked. i felt sick. "i can't tell you so i'm going to show you," i mumbled. "okay," garcia said. i tapped away on my phone til i found the twitter post. i handed it to garcia and she looked at it. jj peering over her shoulder. "oh sugar plum," garcia mumbled. "does emily know?" jj asked me, sadness in her voice. i shook my head rapidly. "please don't tell her!" "y/n," jj sighed. she crouched down beside me and i felt tears welling up in my eyes. "babe, this was posted over a month ago, why didn't you come to me sooner?" "i couldn't leave my house." i buried my head in my hands and jj held me.
"i didn't take them," i whispered. "you didn't?" jj asked, putting some hair behind my ear. penelope was already looking at how to get rid of them, although it was hard. she was going to find the origin at least because then we know who posted them. "some guy," i began explaining. "we got drunk one night when mum was away and he - he forced me too. he used a polaroid and , and his phone but i didn't know he used his phone." "that's okay," jj muttered, stroking my hair. "right, i've got the person who posted it," garcia said. "however, it is one of them cases where it's on the internet and anyone can have them - especially after a month." i nodded, understanding. when she showed me the guy who posted them i felt even more violated as i didn't even know him. "baby, can we ring emily?" jj asked. "no! no you can't!" "she'll understand, she really will." "no, she can't see them." "she doesn't have to see them, we'll just be able to arrest him and get him put away for it. we can also get talking to the people who shared it." i began to cry. i wanted my mum, so bad. i just began to nod. jj and garcia were decent cuddles but nothing beat my mum. jj held me whilst garcia rang emily.
"what've you got for me garcia?" mum asked down the phone. "emily, are you alone?" garcia asked. "this is personal." "i don't really have time for personal-..." she began. "it's about your daughter so yes you do," penelope said. i smiled at that. we heard mum mumble a quick 'excuse me' to whoever she was with. "what's happened?" her voice was panicked. "JJ and i got a little unprompted visit from your baby today," garcia began. i hugged jj and she pulled me closer to her. "is she okay?" emily asked. "emily you can't judge, she's already hurt enough by it and she just needs her mum. okay?" "garcia, what is going on?" "someone posted pictures of her online, erm, not clothed." i hid in jj, not wanting to hear her response. there was silence for a minute. "do you know who?" she asked. "i tracked down the ip address." "does she know them?" garcia looked at me and i shook my head. "she does not." "i'm coming home," she hung up then. i couldn't tell if she was mad or upset or angry or disappointed. i felt sick. i just clung to jj, hoping she'd understand.
a few hours later, mum charged into garcia's office. i was sat on one of the desks, coffee in my hand and apple in the other. i gulped seeing her. she looked at me, between garcia and jj. "i need to see them." she said, holding out her hand. "no!" i said suddenly, getting down. "no mum, please." i begged. "y/n i need to see what they did to you." "emily," jj whispered as i shook my head over and over. "we've seen them. you don't need to see." "it's nothing i haven't seen before for christ sake!" she groaned, throwing up her hands. i began to cry then, she was angry. so so angry with me. "it's not the same em and you know it." jj said, putting a supportive hand on my back. "we have the IP address and we know who posted them online. we just need your orders to send someone to the house and get him arrested." "get him arrested and sent down. and anyone else who distributed it. no one is getting away with this," she said. i looked at her between my fingers and saw her expression soften at the sight of me. she sighed before pulling me into her arms.
"we'll get them," she said. "mum i'm sorry," i cried. "sorry? why on earth are you sorry?" she asked me, genuinely surprised. "i didn't know he was taking them, i didn't know they'd be posted. i dragged you away from a case," i explained, clinging to her blazer. "sweetheart," she whispered, caressing my hair. "this isn't your fault. at all." she pushed me away slightly and put her fingers under my chin so i looked at her. "i'm not mad or disappointed at you. baby i love you and i'd never judge you." she whispered and my heart swelled with love. "i'm just really fucking mad at the people who hurt my baby." i chuckled a little and she pulled me back into my arms. "what did i tell you eh," jj said, rubbing my back. i only nodded, clinging to my mum. i'd needed this. i'd needed her.

BAU team X Child reader
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This is a special oneshot because I love Halloween also this is finished and posted a little later than Halloween because I haven't had time to write it.
Summary: 5 year old Y/N loves Halloween and gets the team to dress up with them.
Third person pov...
Little Y/N L/N loved Halloween, every year they dress up as something else this year they plan to be an FBI agent like their family the BAU.
The child was so excited Halloween was around the corner. The five year old had been counting down the days until candy, costumes, and all the thrills and chills of this special day.
Currently thr 5 year old was getting ready in their room, they had a badge, sunglasses, fake gun and was wearing a suit like Hotch does, he was their hero.
Once the child was ready their Mum dropped them off and they walked into the building and walked in, when they got through the reception desk and up to the floor with the BAU on.
The child git out of the elevator and walks into the Bullpen where the team were, as they walk in they see Spencer, Derek, Emily and JJ all chatting at Spencers desk, they hadn't noticed the 5 year old walk in just yet.
Smirking the kid hides behind the desk opposite Spencers and spies on the 4 adults trying and failing to hide their laughter.
JJ stopped talking when she heard a childish giggle, she then motions towards the desk opposite Spencers holding her hand over her mouth to stop laughing.
The rest look and see a tiny bit of H/C hair, Morgan then Smirks and quietly leaves the group and makes his way behind the Reids desk and creeps up behind the child.
When he's behind then he looks up around at the rest of the team who are all trying to hide their smiles but failing, the man then grabs the child and throws them over his shoulder making them squeal.
"You little! Trying to sneak up on us" laughed Derek as he mercifully tickled the 5 year old, their laughter was so loud that the other Agents stopped to look at what the common was.
Even Hotch and Rossi came out if their offices, but begin smiling at the sight of Y/N L/N thrown over Derek's shoulder laughter their head off as the man tickled them.
Tears of laughter ran down the 5 year old face as Derek finally stopped hid attack and set the kid down on the ground, still laughing Y/N tries to get their breath back.
The child glares at Derek who jsut smiles and ruffled the kids hair, this made Y/N huff and try and fix it themselves. Then JJ approached the kid.
"Hey N/N, did you need something?" She asks the kid, Y/N became nervous and fiddled with their fake gun. "I was wondering if you wanted to go trick or treating with me?" They asked almost shouting it.
This made the team surprised but all smiled at the child. "Of course we would love too!" Yelled Emily, grabbing the child and swinging them into her arms, everyone else had identical smiles even Hotch.
From Emily's arms Y/N was grinning. "Yayyy" they exclaimed enthusiastically, once they were put down again Y/N patted their jacket down.
Soen then spoke up, he had been analysing what the kid was dressed as but couldn't tell he had an idea but had to confirm.
"Y/N, are you an FBI agent?" He asks, the child turns to him and grins nodding their head. "Yep I am can you guess who?" They ask, the team them begin thinking at who they could be.
From the suit to the red tie to the incredibly familiar face the kid was making it was easy to guess who. "Its Bossman right!?" Exclaims Penelope waving her hand around excitedly.
Y/N grins. "Correct! I'm Hotch, Wheels up!" They say doing a pretty good impression of said man making Hotch smile they did look like him.
The team laughed a spot on impression. "You guys have to dress up as well!" Exclaimed the kid, 6 hours later the team and child are standing outside in costumes going trick or treating.
Y/N was so ecstatic when they saw everyone in their chosen costumes;
Penelope is a Fairy and looks all mystical and pretty, she had glitter everywhere from her skin to her outfit, she also had wings on the back and had amazing make up on.
Derek dressed like a strong man from a circus, he had a foam bar bell with him and was wearing shorts and a tank
Spencer was dressed like Sherlock Holmes of course with the deer hunter hat and pipe.
Emily was a Vampire with fangs and fake blood everywhere to Y/N she looked awesome.
JJ was a Zombie, ripped clothes and green skin, Penelope helped both woman do their make up.
Rossi got forced to dress up as well, he was a Skeleton he has let Penelope paint half a Skeleton on his face and had Skeleton hands.
Hotch was the hardest to dress up but he gave in when Y/N gave him their 'puppy eyes' he dressed as a Pirate using his hat from highschool.
Y/N was smiling so happy that they all dressed up like their asked. Soon they were dragged all around town, trick-or-treating with an energy that was only matched by their excitement. Everyone had a spook-tacular time, enjoying all the candy, but more importantly, spending quality time with Y/N.
Y/N was more than happy to play the role as an FBI agent and chasing after 'unsubs' which were the team, Rossi made sure to get lots of pictures for them all to have as memories from the night.
At the end of the night, everyone was tired, but happy. Y/N thanked them all for making their Halloween even more special, reminding them of the power of dressing up and having fun.
The team love the kid and could never say no to them, they each have a copy on a group photo they askes a parent to take of them, all smiling and posing like their characters for it.
Y/N couldn't wait for next year's Halloween.
The end!

Bob the raccoon
PT. Bob the raccoon. PT end
â Request? No
â Criminal minds; Penelope Garcia & teen bro! Mute! Reader
â No warnings! Fluff
â Note; don't bring raccoons into your home from the wilderness. :") Reader's designed to be mute in this and as such uses sign language in the moment. Reader's body & gender ambiguous, enby & trans friendly.
The silence was quite defeating as the boy stood in the doorway with a big gray, white and brown creature in tow staring or rather challenging Penelope's wide gaze. If there was something the blond didn't expect was to see her brother standing with a ducking raccoon in hands held like a cat just sniffing around. Having just gotten out of the shower after a quite challenging day, was a calm evening anything to ask for?
Well, it seems she had to be praying for one at this point to ensure one, but today was not one of those nice evenings.
"(Name) why have you brought a raccoon?" Shifting to look better at her brother, Penny put the mug of coffee down she had in her hands. Sighing heavily as the boy signed with one hand as best as he could so as not to drop the now wiggling creature with a bright, sweet, and innocent smile.
"His name is Bob, do you like bob?"

BLACK CAT GIRLFRIEND | Spencer Reid x reader
request: Hey Congratulations on the 2K! Do you think you could write something with Spencer Reid and a Reader who has lots of tattoos and/or piercings? Like she's the whole "bad girl" stereotype but Spencer and her complement each other so well and have a very sweet and mature relationship. I would love something like that.
description: the team meet Spencer's new girlfriend and she doesn't look quite like they'd imagined
word count: 1.1k
main masterlist
authors note: I officially hit 2k followers this morning!! see my post here for requesting but lets start this milestone off with a bang!! thankyou so much :))))))
Morgan had to admit, you werenât exactly what heâd envisioned when Pretty Boy had been talking his ear off for months about the girl in his apartment building that had slipped him your number. He wasnât judgemental, not by a longshot, but Spencer had always seemed like the type to date the preppy, library geek, or even the cutesy geneticist if Maeve had been anything to go off of.Â
Itâs not like you werenât hot, he could see that you were a mile away, but you looked like youâd sooner break someoneâs wrist for so much as talking to you than fall for their resident genius.Â
You smiled tightly, shaking Derekâs hand with a crushing grip, as Spencer introduced you to his team, the obnoxiously loud bass almost drowning out his words as the six of you stood in the bar.Â
âNice to meet you, Spencer talks about you all the time,â You said politely, and no sooner had you let go of the manâs warm hand, two arms were thrown over your shoulders and you were tugged into a hug.Â
âIâm Penelope- oh youâre so pretty, Morgan isnât she so pretty? You should marry Spencer then you can be boyfriend girlfriend for, like, life-â The perky voice was all a jumble as the blonde pulled away, cupping your face, rubbing down your arms kindly, sweetly, like you were swallowing a warm spoon of honey.Â
âPenelope, newbie rules, remember,â Emily chimed in, seeing your eyes widen at the sudden intrusion of personal space. She could see this ending with the pretty pink bows Garcia had plaited her hair in torn to shreds on the sticky floor, right next to her long barbie locks if your intimidating figure was anything to go off, âNot everyone likes hugs,â
âNo, no,â You replied, smiling gently at the woman who was softer than cotton candy, âHugs are nice,âÂ
âWeâre going to be very best friends, I can feel it, which is funny because my tarot actually said Iâd meet a strong Taurus woman- or are you a Scorpio-â Pennyâs smile was dazzling, but she was soon ushered to let go of the bear like grip she had on your shoulders by a chuckling Morgan.
âLet the other kids play with her, babygirl,â He said, and you were pulled in another direction towards Emily who gave a polite handshake.Â
âNice ink,â She said with raised brows as she saw the intricate sketches that covered the back of your hands, trailing up your arm and under the band tee you wore. She knew who they were, though they only dragged up memories of her own days of thick eyeliner and rebelling against her mother. âThey must have hurt like a bitch, I got one on my hip and could barely sit for one hour,âÂ
You snickered, nodding, seeing her eyes trailing over the ones on your ankles and knees where your ripped jeans flashed them all.Â
âBones hurt the most, though the one on my ass is up there for the worst ones,â You replied, and Pennyâs brows shot into her hairline, though she giggled like a schoolgirl being told a secret.
âI think weâre gonna need to see the proof on that one,â Morgan teased flirtily, the way he always did, the way he did even with JJ who had a whole child and partner, because it was his natural state of being.Â
Spencer smiled as his team warmed to you, though he was quick to pull you to him with a gentle arm around the waist. It wasnât that he didnât trust Derek, that man was practically his brother, heâd taken bullets for the guy, but he liked having you close, even if to just remind himself that you were all his, including said tattoo on your buttcheek that heâd seen plenty of times.Â
The team didnât need to know that, but you could tell your words had reminded him of it as he pressed a shy kiss behind your ear.
He was careful to avoid the studs and links that glittered from your ear lobe, wrapping over the cartilage on your helix, though he loved to stare at them on nights where you tied your hair up and he could count every one of them. To him you were a work of art, complex and detailed with every glance he stole. You were an illustration in one of his many books, everything he imagined for himself times a million.Â
âIâm going to go get a drink, do you want one?â You said, looking up at him with puppy eyes, like a lovestruck teenager, fat adoration in your gaze. It oozed out of every inch of you, and JJ thought for a moment that you looked nothing like the scary doberman woman that Spence had originally brought over to meet them. You looked in love, the saccharine, soft and dazed kind of in love.Â
âLet me get it for you,â Spencer rooted around his pocket for his wallet, turning to see Morganâs beer bottle running low, âYou having another one?â
âIâm good, my man, you just sort yourself and your lady out,â Derek flashed him a thousand watt smile and clapped him on the shoulder as you entwined your fingers with his, pulling him through the cluster of people and towards the bar, âWhat a stud,âÂ
Penelope giggled again, leaning towards her adonis best friend with honeyglow cheeks, watching their genius get led like a dog on a leash.Â
âOh lover boy had got it bad,â She drawled, watching Reid, their Reid, develop an uncharacteristically protective stance as a few men at the bar shot looks up and down your body. She couldnât blame them either, you were a sight for sore eyes. âOkay, so do I have to be the first one to point out how hot she is or have I maybe had one too many margaritas?âÂ
âShe seems nice,â JJ chose her words carefully, still not entirely sure she would have ever put the two of you together but she saw the way Spenceâs eyes got round and longing when he looked over you. Heâd clearly said something to make you laugh, and an inked hand raised up to brush his chocolate curls out of his face lovingly, âShe seems good for him,â
A murmur of agreement ran through the four of them, Emily taking one more sip of her martini as her eyes roved over your figure returning with something fruity and colourful, âAnyone else dying to know whatâs on her ass?âÂ

Hi â¨ď¸â¨ď¸
Emily's sister likes Reid and flirts with him a lot before asking him out and he's all shy.
your type | spencer reid x prentiss!reader
warnings: none really, alcohol consumption, flirting
word count: 1.7k
a/n: hi!! hope you enjoy nervous spencer :) love him. reblogs and comments appreciated <3
half team were sitting around the office, finishing off the last of their paperwork for the night, it was a friday night and a certain member of the team was growing bored of filing away the never ending pile of reports. hotch, jj and gideon had already left for the night, leaving the rest of the team to finish off the workload.
emily leaned back in her desk chair, her red long sleeve shirt complimenting her complexion as she tucked her dark locks behind her ears.
âitâs friday night- we should go out and do something fun. lets go to a bar.â emily spoke, interrupting the sound of keyboards clacking and paper shuffling.
âi agree, letâs get out of here.â derek grinned, standing up from his seated position to have a well deserved stretch, his shoulder making a popping sound as he did so.
âreid, you in?â
spencer adjusted his posture at the sound of his name, his head turning towards his colleagues.
âi donât know guys- i kind of wanted to read âthe history of tortureâ by george riley scott.â he responded, scratching the back of his head.
âthe history of torture? on a friday night?â derek shot spencer a confused expression.
âjust a bit of light reading.â spencer shrugged.
ânope, i want you guys to meet my sister, sheâs a bartender at this new place down the road. itâll be fun.â emily stood up, grabbing her bag that sat under her desk.
âbut-â
âyou can read tomorrow, right now itâs time for you to socialise. morgan text garcia, letâs go.â
spencer found himself sitting in the backseat of emilyâs car as she drove downtown, derek sat in the front. penelope had replied saying she would meet everyone there.
âi donât see why the child locks were necessary.â spencer mumbled, pulling on the inside door handle.
âshh. weâre almost here.â emily pulled up next to bar, there was a group of people standing outside cigarettes resting between their index and middle fingers. clouds of smoke plumed into the night sky, through the hazy air a neon sign read âthe wine sellerâ.
emily unlocked the car, stepping out and strutting her way to the entrance, derek and spencer following close behind. in the midst of all the smoke stood garcia, her blonde hair tied in space buns with a blue polkadot dress adorning her form.
âare we ready to party!â she exclaimed, clearly she had already had a drink or two.
everyone stumbled into the bar, immediately a wave of noise washed over them. iâm the centre of it all, people were dancing on each other flashing lights casting rays of colour over their sweaty bodies.
âis your sister cute?â derek questioned emily over the loud music.
she rolled her eyes in response. âyou could say that.â
âwhatâs her type?â he grinned, scanning the bar.
âoh youâll see.â emily chuckled.
spencer rolled his shoulders nervously, trailing behind emily who was making a b line for the bar. she called out to a girl who was facing the shelves full of liquor.
ây/n!â
you whipped your head around to see where the voice had come from, a grin immediately forming when you saw your older sister stood at the bar.
âemily! finally made it out of the office i see.â you chuckled, grabbing a bottle of vodka from the shelf and pouring it into a shot glass for the man that stood at the bar. he nodded as a thank you and made his way back to the dance floor.
âitâs busy in here wow.â emily muttered, eyes scanning the room as she rested her hands on the bar counter.
âmhm i sure know how to bring in a crowd, what can i get for you and⌠you lot?â you peered around at the three people behind you. penelope rushed to emilyâs side giving you a big smile.
âoh right, this is penelope, derek and spencer, from the bau.â you gave everyone a small smile, your eyes lingering on the taller hazel eyed man who stood awkwardly behind emily.
âiâll take a pink gin and lemonade.â she shouted over the music, you nodded with a smile and reached for the gin.
derek strolled over to the counter, eyeing you as you picked up a gin glass.
âiâll just have a whiskey.â he shot you a grin which you returned.
âmake that two.â emily added, rooting in her bag for her wallet.
you made the drinks and laid them out along the counter for the team to take.
âand for the cutie in the back?â your voice travelled to spencer who seemed caught off guard by your comment.
âuh- me? uh iâll have i uh- vodka soda.â he stuttered out, heat rising to his face.
âwhatever you want sweetheart.â you shot him a wink and began to make his drink.
emily turned her focus to derek who was sipping at his drink.
âi see why you wanted to bring reid here so bad.â he laughed, and then dragged garcia to the dance floor.
ây/n what time do you get off, will you have a drink with us?â emily asked, taking a gulp of her drink immediately feeling the alcoholâs warmth spread through her body.
âtwenty minutes em, then iâm all yours.â
âcome find me later!â your older sister yelled out, disappearing into a crowd of warm bodies.
you served up spencerâs drink, passing it to him. he tucked his hair behind his ear before reaching for his wallet to pay.
âdonât worry, itâs on me.â you shot him a charming smile which he returned.
ât-thanks y/n.â he reached for the drink, taking a small sip, before taking a seat at the bar. you raised your eyebrow slightly in surprise, not expecting him to take a seat.
you could tell he was very much out of his element, that everyone had just come from the office. he wore a white striped button up shirt paired with a pair of suit trousers, his tie hung loose around his neck. his big eyes wandered around the room before falling back on you, you had already moved on to making cocktails for a bridal party to his left.
spencer studied your form, your quick movements and ability to multitask in such a busy environment impressed him. you wore a tight black tank top along with a black miniskirt the ended just above your mid thigh, and a small black apron was tied around your waist.
he couldnât help but stare at your figure as you rushed around the bar, your form fitting clothing showing off every curve to your body, in all honestly he was infatuated.
finally the rush had died down and you were making your way back to your side of the bar to polish more glasses, you noticed spencerâs intense gaze on you and smiled to yourself.
âyou like what you see, dr.reid?â you questioned, poking fun.
he immediately pulled his fixed look from your body and up to your eyes.
âi- uh sorry.â he nervously sipped at his drink, feeling embarrassed.
âdonât be, youâre pretty cute yourself.â you shot him a small wink and he felt his face flush.
âso spencer, how are you liking working at the bau?â you quizzed, carrying a stack of glasses to the shelf behind you.
âuh- itâs good, i like that i can help people.â he muttered out a vague answer, which he followed with a question.
âa-and do you like being a bartender?â
you shrugged, wandering back to stand in front of spencer.
âitâs just a part time job, iâm studying criminal psychology right now in college, im in my third year.â this got his attention, he straightened his posture, taking another sip of his drink.
âoh really? thatâs so interesting- what do you plan on doing after?â he seemed less anxious now.
âiâm not really sure, might do a masters- it was emilyâs suggestion.â you let out a small laugh, spencer longed to hear you laugh more.
âi take it this isnât really your vibe?â you stated, looking around the bar at people making out and dancing, spencer followed your stare. emily and penelope were in the middle of the dance floor cheering derek on who had now taken his shirt off and was swinging it above his head.
âuh- no not really, i didnât really plan on coming here tonight, but prentiss- your sister, she kind of child locked me in her car.â he mumbled out, an awkward laugh leaving his mouth.
you pinched your eyebrows, shaking your head and letting out a joking sigh. âsheâs trying to set me up.â
âset you up?â he repeated what you had said.
your face warmed as you began to speak, âi broke up with my ex over a year ago and was recently complaining about how i can never meet any decent guys at the bar, because- i mean look.â you gestured to a corner where a group of frat bros were downing their beers.
âand em said she knew someone who would be great for me.â you eyes landing back on spencer.
âyou mean me?â he pointed to himself, still somewhat confused.
you nodded. âi mean she managed to guess my type exactly, canât blame her there.â you now gestured to spencer, his face burning a dark crimson, and it wasnât the alcoholâs fault.
âi mean i hope youâre single- and iâm not just aimlessly flirting with a taken man. that would be a little embarrassing..â you trailed off, rubbing the nape of your neck, your tank top lifted slightly revealing your midriff.
âi- i yeah iâm single.â spencer couldnât quite grasp the fact you were flirting with him, on purpose. he honestly thought someone like you would either be in a relationship or have a line of much more attractive men just waiting to take you out.
you smiled at his flustered state, you thought he was adorable.
âwell then, dr.reid, would you like to go on a date with me sometime? maybe a cafĂŠ or the park, somewhere not as chaotic as this?â you questioned, you were pretty confident in yourself, which was something that ran in your family.
âyeahâŚi would like that, a lot.â he smiled at you, you quickly jotted down your number on a piece of paper, passing it to spencer.
your eyes flickered to the watch on your wrist, a smile spreading across your face.
âtime for me to clock out, darlin. iâll be right back.â and with that you skipped off into the back of the bar to grab your things, your heart beating twice as quick.

romance analysis unit | spencer reid
summary: you like spencer. spencer likes you. somehow, you're the only ones on the team who can't see it - and that calls for some BAU intervention.
a/n: i had a bit of an impulsive moment and decided to delete my old blog (vintagecarat) because i wanted a redo, so if you've seen a variation of this fic before, itâs not been stolen - i promise! this is my favourite x reader i've ever written, so i had to rewrite it, of course!
enjoy the fic, and have a fantastic day! <3 requests are open!
note(s): gn!reader & no pronouns used, mention of alcohol, mention of canon-typical violence, reader gets hurt, mentions of blood, one bed trope

One year, seven months and sixteen days. That's how long it had been since you'd started working at the BAU.
One year, seven months and nine days. That's how long it had been since you'd realized that you had a sickeningly huge crush on Spencer Reid.
It had been a long time since you'd had a crush. The last time had been in elementary school, and you'd been convinced that you were in love with the boy who sat two seats to the left of you in class. Heâd gone on to marry your best friend and leave you with a broken heart. In hindsight, though, you were only five.
You'd fallen for people before, and you'd had a string of partners in the past, but it had been such a long time since you'd felt the way you did when you looked at Spencer. Seeing him smile made your heart thud erratically in your chest. Hearing him ramble made you smile in the giddiest and most euphoric way possible. Feeling his fingers brush against yours whenever he handed you your morning coffee made your brain turn to mush and left you unable to form a coherent sentence for at least ten minutes. You were trying your hardest to break that last habit, though.
Your crush on Spencer quickly became a topic that you knew you wanted to keep a secret from the rest of the team. The last thing you needed was all of your progress as the newest team member to be weighed down by a crush that made you blush and giggle like a child.
During a particularly wild night out with the team, though, your plan to keep your crush on Spencer a secret went flying out of the nearest window, along with any shred of dignity you had remaining after drinking one too many shots. It had been a miracle that Spencer hadn't been there at the exact moment the words spouted from your lips. At least you had your drunk self to thank for something, you supposed.
Penelope had been the first one you'd told. Definitely a foolish move on your part, but you were too drunk in the moment to make any logical decisions. Emily and JJ had gone to the bar to get more drinks - "another round of shots", Emily had screamed before dragging JJ away - leaving you and Penelope alone to guard the table in the corner. She was the one who'd brought up the conversation, and naturally, you'd followed along without a care in the world. If there was anything good to come of the situation, then it was the look on Penelopeâs face. You wished youâd taken a picture of her expression as the words tumbled from your mouth.
Penelope couldnât keep a secret to save her life, and once she knew, it was only a matter of time before Emily and JJ knew. Sheâd screamed so loudly that youâd almost gotten kicked out of the bar for causing a disturbance.
"Place your bets," Emily had shouted over the pounding bass music, slamming a twenty-dollar bill onto the table, "How long until Garcia tells Morgan?"
It barely even took an hour. Emily ended up winning her own bet.
Derek had practically cornered you at your desk the next time he saw you in the bullpen, failing miserably to hide the smirk on his face as he showed you his phone and the babbling, completely unintelligible, texts from Penelope.
With the alcohol out of your system and the devastating hangover a painful memory, you wanted nothing more than for the ground to swallow you whole. Maybe you could quit, or request a transfer, or simply disappear to the other side of the country and become a recluse in the wilderness. Wishful thinking, of course.
From that moment on, you noticed that the rest of the team was messing with you. You didnât have any proof, but you were sure of it. Youâd enter the conference room to find that the only seat remaining was next to Spencer. Youâd find yourself paired up with Spencer more often during cases. You and Spencer would frequently be the last two members left in the bullpen at the end of the day.Â
It wasn't as if you particularly minded. You and Spencer were best friends. You had been from the moment you'd walked into the bullpen on your first day and immediately made a comment about the book he was reading. You were used to being around him more often than not, but it was a lot harder to act as if nothing had changed when you were on edge 90% of the time. You were always wondering if he knew anything about the crush you had on him, or if someone else was about to blurt out the secret that you were trying so desperately hard to keep hidden. You couldn't bring it up because you'd either out yourself or you'd be forced to have a conversation that you were sure would end in rejection.
It was an endless cycle, and you hated it.
You were in the bullpen with Dave, perched on the edge of your desk as he rattled off his famous carbonara recipe. Youâd always wanted to be a better cook, and Dave had promised you that he'd teach you, even though he really didn't want you burning his kitchen down to the ground.
âOkay, so, do you add the cheese and the egg together, or separately?â
âYou combine the egg first, and then you add the cheese.â
âOh. Right. SoâŚâ
It was at that moment that Derek decided to sidle over to the conversation, perching himself on your desk beside you with an all-too familiar smirk on his face.Â
âSince when have you been interested in learning how to cook?â he gave you a not-so-subtle nudge.
You shot Derek a glare, âDerek. Don't.â
"Unless you were planning a date for pretty boy over there.â
He nodded his head in Spencer's direction, and you couldn't help but follow his eyes. It was automatic. The sight of Spencer pouring pretty much the entire jar of sugar into his coffee made you smile, but it was definitely an expression you wiped off your face when you heard Derek's laughter.
âI swear to God, DerekâŚâ
âGuys,â JJ interrupted, entering the bullpen with a case file in hand, âWe've got a case.â
âIs it bad?â
JJ simply grimaced.Â
âOf course it is,â you said with a sigh, hopping off your desk. Derek was still failing to hide his laughter beside you, and you swatted at him, âShut up, Derek.â
âI didn't do anything.â
âYou didn't have to.â
It didnât surprise you at all to see that the seat beside Spencer was the only one available. As you slid into it, you caught Emily smirking at you from across the table, though she was clearly trying to hide it. You shook your head at her, though you couldnât stop a tiny smile from ghosting over your lips as you focused your attention onto the case file in your hands.
ę¨ď¸
It always seemed as though every case at the BAU was worse than the last one.
Youâd all been called to a small town in Wyoming after a frantic call from the police department. Three victims had been found in the townâs frozen lake with anchors tied to their ankles to keep them below the surface. A fourth victim had gone missing, and there was no doubt that sheâd end up like the others if she wasnât found. It was a horrifying fact that everybody knew, but nobody wanted to admit.
It was later, almost 11 pm, and you were no closer to solving the case than you had been when youâd first arrived. It was as if the unsub was always three steps ahead of you, and it was frustratingly annoying. Youâd spent a good portion of the afternoon scouring through decade old case files. The lead detective was convinced that it was related to a similar case that had happened in the 1990s. You hadnât found any striking similarities between the two and you were beginning to wonder if there would be any at all. He was clutching at straws, desperately trying to close the case as quickly as possible. You couldnât fault him for that.
Just as the words on the case file were beginning to blur into one large amalgamation, a gentle hand landed on your shoulder, âHey,â JJ said, âWeâre all heading to the hotel.â
âYou go ahead,â you waved dismissively, stifling a yawn, âIâm going to finish looking over these files, andâŚâ
âHotchâs orders,â she cut you off, âYou need a break. We all do.â
You looked to the doors of the precinct and saw the rest of the team ready to leave, muttering amongst themselves in a tired conversation. Aaron raised his eyebrows, almost expectantly, at you.
âAlright,â you didnât bother trying to hide another yawn, âIâm coming.â
JJ smiled softly at you, almost dragging you to your feet because of how exhausted you were. It didnât really feel as if your brain was in control of your body as you padded after her. Youâd been so caught up in the details of the case that you hadnât realized how tired you truly were. The sudden rush of air that hit you as you exited the building made you even drowsier.
âYou look exhausted,â Spencer chuckled as he helped you into the SUV with a gentle hand on the small of your back that almost made you combust right then and there, "I've seen you tired, but this is another level."
You simply made a little grunt in response. You didn't have enough energy to come up with one of your usual witty comebacks. You clumsily collapsed into your seat, and you leaned your head back against the headrest as your eyes fluttered shut.
It wasn't too long of a drive to the hotel, but that didn't stop you from catching a quick power nap during the brief moment of peace. You couldn't get Spencer out of your head. Or, more specifically, that hand on the small of your back. He'd never touched you like that before. Ever. It was sending your brain spiraling, to be honest.
âWeâre here,â Spencerâs voice filtered into your ear as he gently shook your shoulder, âWake up.â
Your eyes snapped open, and you glanced to your left. After a moment, your eyes came back into focus, and it hit you that your head was leaning on Spencerâs shoulder, âOh,â you quickly sat up, though you almost choked as the seat belt snapped you back against the seat, âSorry.â
You were so very glad that most of the team werenât in the same SUV as the two of you because theyâd never let you hear the end of it. The only other person was Aaron, and as you caught his eye in the rearview mirror, you could tell that he was trying not to uncharacteristically laugh at you. You did your best to ignore him, which wasnât exactly easy when your face began to burn with a familiar wave of heat that youâd grown accustomed to.
That chuckle of Spencerâs that you loved so much and made your heart do flip-flops in your chest echoed in your ears, âItâs fine. You clearly needed it. And I do make an excellent pillow.â
You snorted out a laugh, and you gave him a shove as you climbed out of the car beside him, âShut up.â
The rest of the team were all waiting beside the front desk with their bags as you and Spencer entered. Even though you made sure to look in any other direction, you definitely saw the subtle smirks Derek and Emily were shooting you out of the corner of your eye.Â
Aaron finished his hushed conversation with the receptionist, and with a curt nod, he moved back over to the rest of the team with key cards in his hand, âThey donât have enough rooms for all of us. Looks like weâre doubling up.â
If Spencer noticed the subtle smirks and side glances from the rest of the team, he never mentioned them.
Instead, he nudged your shoulder, âWeâre sharing, right?â
âOf course, weâre sharing. I wouldnât expect anything less,â you took the key card Aaron was holding out to you, and you couldnât help but notice his lips twitching up into a tiny little-half smirk. You brushed it off, though, âIâm sleeping on the bed nearest the window this time.â
âThatâs not fair,â Spencer followed you as you made your way to the elevator, âI like sleeping near the window.â
âNo. Not happening. You slept near the window last time.â
A comfortable silence fell over the two of you as the elevator shot up to your designated floor. Your eyes wandered around the small space, and you found yourself looking anywhere other than at Spencer. You werenât an anxious person, and it wasnât as if being alone with Spencer was a new thing to you, but your mind was racing. All because of that one small gesture. His hand on the small of your back. You couldnât stop thinking about it, and you wished you could because it was making your cheeks burn.
âEven the elevators are fancy,â you muttered, casting a quick glance around the elevatorâs plush and yet miniscule interior, âFor a small town, they sure do have nice hotels.â
Things really were dire when you started making small talk. You were the type of person who could make a mountain out of a molehill with how much you talked. You almost rivaled Spencer with how much you could babble on. Small talk wasnât your thing at all.
âWhatâs the matter with you?â
âHm?â
âYou hate small talk,â Spencer said, and you bit back a laugh at that. It was as if you and Spencer were on the same wavelength sometimes, âAnd youâre picking at the hole in your sweater. You only ever do that when youâve got something on your mind.â
You immediately glanced down at your hands, dropping them from your sweater as if it burned. You hadnât even realized youâd been picking at the hole until Spencer mentioned it. You hadnât even realized that there was a hole at all. Your bottom lip jutted out in a quick pout, âI love this sweater.â
Spencer chuckled at that, âSo,â he continued, âYouâre clearly nervous about something. And itâs not the case, because cases never make you nervous.â
âReally?â you said, a hint of laughter creeping into your tone, âYouâre analyzing me?â
The elevator reached your floor, and the doors opened with a loud ding, âIâm not analyzing,â Spencer stepped out, âIâm simply making an astute observation.â
âOkay, well stop astutely observing me,â you followed after him, âDonât worry. Iâm fine. You know Iâd tell you, â it wasnât necessarily a lie. Maybe youâd tell him. Eventually.Â
Spencer glanced back at you briefly as if he didnât believe a word coming out of your mouth, but he never said anything. Instead, he took the keycard from you and held it against the lock, waiting for the light to turn green before pushing open the door, âOh.â
âWhat?â you sidestepped around him, âOh.â
There was only one bed. Sure, it was a double, but it was still tiny. It was in that moment that you decided perhaps becoming an unsub wouldnât be a lost cause.Â
âIâll take the couch.â
âI can sleep on the couch.â
You and Spencer finished your sentences at the same time, and you turned to look at each other. As soon as you locked eyes, you both started to laugh at the stupidity of the situation.Â
âIâm not letting you sleep on the couch.â
âIâm not letting you sleep on the couch either,â you argued, âItâll kill your back, Spence. Youâre way too tall.â
âItâs not fair on you, though. YouâllâŚâ Spencer was about to argue some more, but he stopped when he saw the look on your face. Spencer couldnât argue his way out of a wet paper bag - when it came to you, at least.
âLook, Spence. Itâs fine,â you dropped your bag onto the couch before he could protest, âThere. Easy. No harm done.â
Spencer frowned, but he reluctantly put his own bag on the bed, âFine. Weâre swapping tomorrow night, though,â he told you, almost ordering you, âYouâre not sleeping on the couch the entire time weâre here.â
âDeal,â your lips curled up into a smile, and you sat down on the couch, âSee. I told you Iâd be sleeping near the window.â
Spencer laughed at that.Â
ę¨ď¸
From your space on the couch, you could faintly see the glowing green alarm clock that sat on the bedside table. A strange commodity for a hotel room. It almost looked alien.Â
2:32 a.m.Â
You couldnât sleep. You had a bad enough sleep schedule at the best of times, but the injury on your side was making things worse. It still burned, and if you gently put pressure on the area, you could still feel the deep wound through the layers of bandages.Â
You were almost three days into the case, and youâd finally had a solid lead. It had taken a lot of digging, but Penelope had discovered the unsubâs hunting ground; an old speakeasy hidden so deep in the town that nobody had been able to trace it. Since you were the closest in victimology, youâd agreed to go undercover to catch the unsub once and for all. All youâd ended up with was a knife embedded deep into your side as the unsub escaped once again.
Youâd been in the hospital for hours after that. The knife had gone in so deep that it was close to catching something vital, and the doctors had told you that you were lucky to be alive. Youâd spent most of that afternoon in a hospital bed, listening to the monotonous sound of beeping machines. After a concerned lecture from Aaron - heâd told you not to follow the unsub but you hadnât exactly listened - you were bandaged up and sent on your way.
Spencer had told you to take the bed. Heâd almost forced you into it at one point. But youâd seen the way heâd tried to discreetly stretch out his cramp throughout the day, and you were far too stubborn, so you refused his offer and tried to sleep on the couch for the night. It wasnât working, though.Â
You huffed in pain, shifting uncomfortably in the hopes of finding a better position to sleep in. Every movement made your bandages rub against the wounded area. You finally thought you found a comfortable enough position and you tried to settle down, but then you felt a dampness seeping through your bandages, and you cursed under your breath.
âNo, no, no,â you muttered, pulling your shirt up and surveying your body. Even in the darkness, you could see the dark spot where the blood had begun to soak through, âGoddamnit.âÂ
You pushed yourself off the couch and tip-toed across the room. You didnât want to wake Spencer, especially not in your current state. You kept a hand tightly pressed against your side as you slowly moved. You didnât want to get blood on the carpet. The staff seemed lovely, and you didnât want to ruin their day with your mess. Every single step made you wince as a sharp pain shot straight through your body, and your breaths came out as sharp little puffs of air.Â
A muffled noise from the bed caught your attention, and you saw Spencer begin to stir. He gently mumbled your name as he sat up and stared at you with bleary eyes, âWhat are you doing?â he looked you up and down, and then his eyes settled on the blood, âAre you okay?â
âYeah,â you told him, though you clearly werenât, âI think the stitches came undone or something. Itâs fine,â you tried to wave his worries off, âGo back to sleep.â
Spencer did the opposite. He clambered out of bed and turned on the light, lighting up the room so that you could both see each other clearly. Your heart started to thud a little faster when you saw that the shirt he was wearing to sleep in was a little undone towards the top. Youâd never noticed that before.Â
âYouâre not fine,â his eyes were laser focused on the blood as he took a step closer to you, âYouâre bleeding.â
âGood observation skills, Spencer,â you laughed a little, though you grunted in pain as it aggravated the injury, âI told you, itâs fine. Iâll redress it, andâŚâ you paused when you saw the look in his eyes. It was a look heâd never given you before, and it stole your breath for a moment.Â
âLet me see.â
âSpencer...â
âItâs obviously hurting you,â his sentence was almost demanding, and yet there was a soft and concerning tone to his voice, too, âLet me see it.â
You sighed. There was no way you could refuse when he spoke to you with that tone of voice. You gingerly lifted your shirt high enough for him to see it, âIt looks worse than it is.â
Spencer gently pulled away the loose bandages and inspected the open wound, his eyes never leaving your body, âDoesnât matter,â he muttered, âYouâre not redressing it yourself, and youâre certainly not stitching yourself back up.â
You barely had a chance to respond before Spencer had darted into the bathroom, and he came out moments later with a roll of bandages the hospital had given you.Â
âHere. Sit,â he sat back down on the bed, and he patted the space beside him, âYouâll have to go back to hospital tomorrow. Iâll help you rebandage it for tonight,â his eyes darted between your own eyes and the blood that seemed to be pooling on your side, âPlease.â
You hesitated for a moment, âSpencerâŚâ there was no point in arguing with him, you knew that, and your wound hurt the longer it was left open, âFine.â
You sat down beside Spencer, curling your legs up under you as you turned your back to him. Your hands gripped the hem of your shirt, holding it up high enough so that it wasnât dangling in the way. This wasnât the first time that Spencer had patched you up after an injury in the field, but this was the first time where you were definitely feeling a little light-headed.Â
âOw.â
âSorry,â Spencerâs voice was a gentle whisper against your ear. You hadnât even realized that he was practically leaning his head on your shoulder, âSorry.â
Spencerâs hands were so gentle on your skin that it was almost as if he wasnât even touching you at all. The only indication that he was even helping you was the bandages around your torso since he wrapped them so tightly that they felt like a strangely comforting hug.Â
âThere,â Spencer said, almost proudly, and he gave you a pat on the shoulder, âDone.â
You glanced down at your body before dropping your shirt. The wound didnât even seem to hurt any more. You became very aware very quickly that Spencerâs hands hadnât left your hips, âThank you.â
You shuffled around until you were facing him, and when your eyes locked, it suddenly felt as if time had come to a standstill. That look was back in his eyes; the one that youâd never seen before that made you feel as though you were melting on the inside. You werenât entirely sure what was racing faster; your heart or your mind.Â
And suddenly, before you could really comprehend your actions, your lips were on his. Your body acted before your brain could catch up. Your hands tugged slightly on the collar of his shirt as if you were trying to pull him closer to you. The kiss was tender, and yet it was so full of obvious desire. Warmth flooded your entire body as your stomach seemed to explode with swarms of butterflies. This was a moment youâd thought about for a long time, and once your brain caught up, you couldnât quite comprehend that it was happening.
It may have only been a few seconds, but it felt like hours. You pulled away, and it was only after you saw the startled expression on Spencerâs face and the faint blush that crept up his neck that you realized what youâd done, âSpenceâŚâ your mouth opened and closed, but now words came out for a good few seconds, âSpencer. Iâm so sorry. I didnât mean toâŚâ
Your panicked babbling was cut off as Spencer pressed a quick kiss to your lips, âShut up,â he smiled, and he pressed his index fingers where his lips had been moments ago, âJust shut up for a minute.â
If this were any other time, youâd be rather offended that he told you to shut up, and youâd keep talking. In this situation, however, you were happy to keep your mouth shut.
âYou didnât mean to, what? You didnât mean to kiss me?â
âNo. I mean⌠Yes, but also no, butâŚâ
Spencer raised an eyebrow with a faint smirk, âI thought I told you to shut up.â
You pressed your lips together in a fine line, âSorry.â
Spencerâs hands left your hips, and he took your hands in his own. He squeezed them gently, and his thumbs began tracing soft little circles onto your palms, âYou kissed me.â
You were more than ready for the ground to open up and swallow you whole. Spencer seemed to notice because his grip on your hands got a little tighter as if he knew youâd go run, âIâm glad you kissed me.â
There was no stopping the surprised squeak that escaped your lips, âWhat?!â
Spencer chuckled at that, and the pink blush had spread up to his cheeks, âIâm glad you kissed me,â he repeated, âIâve wanted to kiss you for a long time.â
âYou⌠YouâŚâ your mouth was hanging open, and your eyes were wide. You mustâve looked like an absolute idiot, âYou haveâŚ?â
âOf course, I did.â
This conversation was going in an entirely different direction to how youâd assumed it was. Youâd never seen Spencer look or talk with so much affection before. Spencer said your name with so much love in his tone that it snapped you out of your shocked state, âI like you.â
For a single moment in time, it felt as if the world had stopped spinning. You simply stared, unable to do much of anything else except feel a sharp tug at your heart, âYou⌠You doâŚ?â
âAre you capable of putting a sentence together, or not?â Spencer laughed, and he interlaced his fingers with yours, âYes, I do. A lot, actually,â he smiled at you, and there was a hint of teasing, âI might be a genius, but even the dumbest person in the room could figure you out right now.â
You cracked a smile, and your shocked expression gave way to a relieved and delighted one, âI really like you, too.â
âDo you? I hadnât noticed.â
âShut up,â you giggled, and you never giggled. You knew this crush was childish, but this was on another level entirely.
âI think thatâs the first time Iâve ever heard you giggle.â
âIâm not giggling.â
âOh, you absolutely are. Youâve always been a terrible liar,â Spencer grinned at you, and then his lips connected with yours.Â
The kiss seemed more affectionate than earlier, and a lot more passionate. Your hands wound around his neck, and his hands found a comfortable resting place on your waist. Your lips seemed to perfectly fit together like two puzzle pieces. It couldâve been seconds, or it couldâve been minutes. You werenât entirely sure how long it had been, but you eventually pulled away from each other, and you were both a little breathless from the intensity. Intense was something you never expected from Spencer. You liked it, though.
You let your forehead rest against Spencerâs, âI hate to ruin the mood and everything, butâŚâ your eyes flitted back and forth to the couch, âDoes this mean I donât have to sleep on the couch anymore?â
âAbsolutely not,â Spencer pulled you a little closer, âYouâre not sleeping on the couch. Especially not now.â
âGood,â you curled into him as he pulled you closer to his side, letting your head rest against his chest with a gentle sigh, âThe bed has better company.â
Spencer maneuvered the two of you until you were lying on the bed, and he tucked you that tiny bit closer into him. Youâd imagined him hugging you plenty of times, but this felt better than any imagination could. He kissed the top of your head, and he ran a gentle hand up and down your back, âSure does.â
ę¨ď¸
âPenelope Garcia! Iâm going to kill you!â
You stormed through the BAU and entered Penelopeâs office, slamming the door open with such a bang that it made the walls shudder.
Penelope grinned as she spun around in her chair to face you, âAh, my sweet angel,â she spoke with a beaming grin on her face, âDo you require my assistance?â
âYou littleâŚâ you stepped a little closer, but it was hard to look even slightly threatening with a goofy grin on your face that you were trying to hide, âYou gave me and Spencer the only room with a single bed?â
âI did no such thing.â
âI spoke to everyone else, Pen. Everyone else had a bed of their own.â
Penelope continued to smirk at you, not even trying to hide her laughter, âIt worked, didnât it? I havenât seen you as happy as this in weeks.â
You faltered at that. She wasnât wrong. Ever since youâd gotten back from Wyoming, youâd been happier than anyone had ever seen you. Of course, everyone knew about you and Spencer, and it didnât take long for the good-natured teasing to pick straight back up, âYeah. Okay. It worked, butâŚâ
Penelope held up a manicured finger to cut you off, âBesides, my sweet,â she continued, leaning forward in her chair as if she had a secret to tell you, âI was the one who booked the rooms, yes, but I wasnât the one who handed out the keys, was I?â
Another pause. The words slowly sunk in, and then your mouth dropped open in a mix of shock, humiliation, and a little bit of gratitude, âYou⌠You donât meanâŚâ
Penelope grinned. She could practically see the gears turning in your head, and it made her laugh, âOh, I mean exactly what you think I mean, my love.â
âHotch set us up?!â you didnât even wait for Penelopeâs response. You turned on your heel and marched out of her office, leaving Penelope laughing to herself behind you, âAaron Hotchner! Iâm going to kill you.â

main masterlist prologue part two part three
Six years later, Reid sat on the back of an ambulance, the adrenaline of the situation slowly ebbing away as medics checked him over. His hair was mussed, and his face bore bruises from the day's takedown, but his eyes were clear, focused, if a little distant. Hotch approached, relief etched across his face, but concern still lingering in his eyes as he looked down at Reid.
âI hope I didnât hurt you too badly,â Hotch said, his tone light, though laced with genuine worry.
Reid glanced up, then looked off into the distance, a wistful smile playing at the corners of his mouth. âHotch,â he said, pausing for just a moment before meeting his gaze, âI was a 12-year-old child prodigy in a Las Vegas public high school.â He let the statement hang in the air for effect before adding, âYou kick like a 9-year-old girl.â
Hotchâs serious expression cracked into a grin, the tension of the day releasing in that shared moment of humor. He gave Reid an appreciative nod, proud that even now, even after everything, he could find a way to see the light in the darkness. Theyâd taken a risk to apprehend the unsubâa risk that had paid off. The case was closed, and most importantly, Spencer was okay.
Once the team returned to Quantico, Penelope Garcia came barreling toward them like a whirlwind, eyes wide with concern as she made a beeline for Spencer.Â
âOh my God, are you okay?â she asked, fussing over him, brushing nonexistent dust off his jacket. âI heard what happened, and I nearly had a heart attack, and you know how hard I work to keep this heart in tip-top shape.â
Derek let out a chuckle, looping an arm around Spencer's shoulders and giving him a good-natured shake. âDon't worry, Baby Girl,â he said. âPretty Boy here is tougher than he looks.â
Elle stood nearby, a smirk tugging at her lips. âSo what do you say, Reid? Can we take you out for a drink to celebrate? Show you a little team bonding now that weâre back in one piece?â
The offer made Spencer stiffen, a flicker of unease passing through his eyes. He hadnât had his first drink yetânever quite found the right moment. His last encounter with alcohol flashed through his mind, from when he was still working on his PhD. He'd been at a party, talking to someone he wanted to take home... until they got too drunk and threw up on him, which put him off the idea of drinking ever since.
âUhh,â Spencer started, rubbing the back of his neck as he awkwardly shrugged Derekâs arm off. âIâm not sureââ
âNuh-uh,â Derek cut him off with a playful but firm shake of his head. âNone of that, kid. Youâre part of this team, and itâs time we show you what that means. Drinks on us. One drink wonât hurt, right?âÂ
Spencer looked between themâDerekâs grin, Elleâs teasing smile, and Penelopeâs excited noddingâand felt the reluctant pull of acceptance. They werenât going to take no for an answer, and for a moment, he let himself relax. Maybe a night out with the team wouldn't be so bad.
The bar was loud and buzzing with life. The team was clustered around a table, drinks in hand, and the mood was light, almost celebratory. Laughter echoed over clinking glasses as Derek teased Spencer about finally being out for drinks, Elle and JJ swapped jokes, and Hotch even cracked a rare smile as Penelope regaled everyone with her overly-dramatic reenactment of their last case. Spencer found himself laughing along, more relaxed than he thought heâd be, though he stayed firmly planted with his untouched glass of club soda.
Amid the fun, Derek's phone buzzed loudly, and he stood to answer it, holding up a hand to excuse himself. âHold that thought, guys,â he said, flashing his signature grin as he walked a little away from the table, pressing the phone to his ear. The team continued their conversation, only pausing when Derek returned, looking apologetic.
âSorry, guys,â he said, tucking his phone into his back pocket. âMy lady is in distress; I gotta go rescue her from a bad date.â
That earned a round of good-natured chuckles from the team. Elle raised an eyebrow, asking, âNeed us to come with, knight in shining armor?â
But Spencer, the one to always take things literally, frowned in confusion. âYour girlfriend is on a date with someone else?â he asked, tilting his head like he was trying to figure out a complex puzzle.
That only made everyone laugh harder, JJ practically doubling over and Hotch shaking his head with amusement. Derek just clapped Spencer on the back, his chuckle deep and hearty.Â
Penelope, ever the playful dramatist, wiped away an imaginary tear. âAs much as it pains me that my Chocolate Thunder has another woman in his life,â she sighed, draping an arm dramatically over her forehead, âthatâs his best friend, not his girlfriend. Heâs just playing superhero tonight.â
âYeah, sheâs just my little lady,â Derek explained, still smiling as he grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair. âAnd trust me, she needs saving from some pretty questionable dates.â
Spencer nodded slowly, his eyes darting around as if processing this new piece of social information, a small âohhhâ escaping his lips as he finally understood. The rest of the team just laughed and clinked their glasses together, waving Derek off as he headed out to play the role of rescuer once again.
â
You smiled awkwardly, forcing a laugh as you tapped your foot under the table, hoping the nervous rhythm would hide your growing discomfort. Across from you, your date sat with an overly self-satisfied grin, clearly pleased with themselves for whatever joke theyâd just told.Â
âFunny, right?â they said, leaning back confidently, their voice loud enough to make a few heads turn.
âMhm,â you nodded, plastering on your best smile, the kind youâd practiced for uncomfortable situations just like this. âSo funny.âÂ
The date was dragging on, each minute feeling like an hour, and you kept glancing at the exit, hoping for some way to end it without seeming rude. You were running out of excuses when finally, you heard a familiar, steady voice that filled you with instant relief.
âY/N! Baby!â Derekâs voice boomed from behind you, his face contorted into a fake, but convincingly angry, expression as he made his way over to your table. âItâs time to go,â he said through gritted teeth, playing the role perfectly.
âOh my god,â you gasped, exaggerating your surprise as you quickly gathered your things, casting a regretful glance at your bewildered date. âSorry, I have toâum, gotta go, you know how it is.â
âNow,â Derek growled, his eyes flashing dangerously as he reached for your arm with a protective grip. You couldnât help the grin tugging at your lips as he pulled you away, your heart racing with gratitude at how he always showed up just in time to save you from situations exactly like this.
As soon as the two of you stepped outside, you burst into laughter, the tension from the horrible date evaporating with each breathless chuckle. âWhat was that?â you cried out in amusement, doubling over as you tried to catch your breath.
Derek grinned, looking far too pleased with himself. âI thought it would be funny to make it look like you were cheating on me,â he said, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
You laughed again, shaking your head as you nudged him playfully. âWow, thanks, Derek. Thatâs just great! Iâm sure they think Iâm a horrible person now.â
âBetter they think that than you being stuck in there any longer,â he teased, shrugging playfully. âBesides, who wouldnât want to believe they were dating me?â He gave a mock-innocent smile, and you couldn't help but laugh harder, grateful that your night had turned from painfully awkward to genuinely funâall thanks to your "knight" in his shining sense of humor.
â
After graduation, you packed up and moved to Virginia, seeking a fresh start and the next chapter of your life. It didnât take long for you to meet Derek Morganâcharismatic, warm, and the kind of person who instantly made you feel like youâd known each other forever. Quickly, you were inseparable, your friendship deepening with every shared joke, every late-night conversation.
When you first met Derek, it wasnât at a bar, but in the paint aisle of a hardware store. He was standing there, staring at the rows of paint swatches like they might leap off the shelf and attack him, clearly out of his element. You, meanwhile, were lost in your shopping list, trying to mentally organize what you needed. It wasnât until you absentmindedly turned and bumped into him, sending a few swatches fluttering to the floor, that either of you spoke.
âOh, sorry!â you said, laughing awkwardly as you bent to pick up the fallen cards. âI didnât see you there.â
âNo problem,â Derek replied with a chuckle, scratching the back of his head. âThough, I think I need all the help I can get. You know anything about paint? âCause Iâm pretty sure these swatches are written in a different language.â
You hesitated for a moment, glancing at the paint chips in his hand. Normally, youâd have kept to yourself, but something about his friendly demeanor made it easy to offer help. âWell,â you said, pointing at the colors, âif youâre looking for something neutral but warm, Iâd go with this one. Itâs versatile, and wonât make the room feel too dark.â
Derek grinned, visibly relieved. âI like the way you think. You mightâve just saved me from turning my place into a disaster.â
That lighthearted, slightly awkward interaction became the start of an unexpected friendship. You didnât realize it then, but Derek saw more than just someone who could offer advice on paint. He noticed the cautious way you carried yourself, the hesitation in your voice, and the guarded way you held back, even in a simple conversation. It was subtle, but Derek could sense itâthat you were someone who had been hurt, someone who was used to keeping people at armâs length.
It was in that moment, after you helped him, that Derek decided he wasnât going to let you disappear into the background. He saw someone who needed a friend, even if you didnât know it yet, and he was determined to be that person for you.
He pushed his way into your world, piece by piece, until you found yourself leaning on him, confiding in him, and letting him be the kind of friend you never thought you'd find again. Derek was determined to be there for you, and in a way you never saw coming, he had become the person who would stand by you, even when you were reluctant to let him in.
Over time, you confided in Derek about your college heartbreak, sharing all the hurt, the confusion, and the sense of betrayal that still lingered. You never mentioned names, thoughâthe pain was still too raw, and you couldnât bring yourself to talk about it in more detail than necessary. Derek listened, always understanding, never pressing for more than you were ready to share. He knew when to joke to make you laugh and when to sit in silence to let you breathe.
At first, the attraction between you and Derek was undeniable. His charming smile, his confidenceâit was easy to get lost in that. One night, curiosity and chemistry got the better of you both, and you found yourselves in a brief, passionate rendezvous. But once the moment passed, you both realized that while there was undeniable physical chemistry, the emotional spark that would take you beyond a fling wasnât there.
So, you stayed friendsâreally good friends. And it was a decision that felt right. Derek became your closest companion, someone you trusted deeply, someone who knew all of you without needing to be anything more than your best friend. And from then on, your bond was stronger than any attraction that had once been between you.
Derek had always been eager to introduce you to his team, his âfamily,â as he called them. But every time he brought it up, you found yourself hesitant, a lingering anxiety wrapping tightly around your chest. The thought of meeting a group of strangers made your pulse quicken, and after what happened with Spencer, you found it hard to let people inâafraid that theyâd get close only to walk out when you finally let your guard down.
But Derek was persistent. Heâd reassure you that theyâd love you, that they were good people, that theyâd make you feel right at home. And after months of coaxing, he finally wore you down. So on the night he arranged for everyone to meet at a bar, you arrived early, nerves buzzing through you as you kept fidgeting with your glass of water, the ice clinking noisily. Derek sat beside you, his hand casually draped over the back of your chair, giving you little reassuring nudges and playful teasing to calm you down.Â
It wasnât long before they arrivedâElle, JJ, Hotch, and Penelope. They came in together, the energy between them electric and warm, like a group who had seen each other through everything and then some. You felt the weight of their eyes on you as Derek quickly waved them over, and before you knew it, introductions were happening all at once.Â
Elle, with her steady, confident smile. JJ, kind and instantly friendly, making you feel a little more at ease. Hotch was reserved but polite, offering you a nod that felt more comforting than intimidating. And Penelopeâbright, enthusiastic, and full of lifeâimmediately pulled you into a hug that you didnât quite expect but somehow needed.
âWelcome to the team... kinda!â Penelope laughed, pulling back to look you up and down, her eyes sparkling with excitement. âIâve heard so much about you.â
The team was warm, and their humor put you at ease more than you expected. âDerek told me you were gorgeous, but wow!â Penelope said, grinning as she gestured to your outfit. âHe did not do you justice! I should've known heâd undersell a masterpiece.â
You blushed, ducking your head, and Derek rolled his eyes playfully. âOh, come on, Garcia, now youâre just making her nervous,â he said, leaning back in his chair, clearly enjoying the playful teasing.
âSomeone has to make up for your terrible intro,â Elle joked, raising her drink in your direction. âHe probably didnât even tell you our names before dragging you here, did he?â
âWell, actuallyââ you started to defend him, but JJ leaned in with a grin.
âOh, he probably did,â she said, flashing a knowing smile. âBut did he tell you the good stuff? Because Hotch over here is not just any team leaderâheâs secretly a rock star at karaoke.â
Hotch looked up from his drink, arching an eyebrow with mock disapproval. âSecretly, JJ?â he said dryly. âIf I remember correctly, you were the one who signed us all up for âLivinâ on a Prayerâ last time.â
The conversation flowed smoothly, light and airy, with everyone sharing bits of their day and funny anecdotes about past cases. You were finally feeling like you could relax, laughing along with the team and even chiming in here and there. Penelope asked about your work, Hotch teased Derek about his dedication to âfitness,â and JJ leaned in with questions about your interests, trying to make you feel comfortable.
Then Elle, who had been quietly observing, tilted her head with a curious smile. âSo, Y/N,â she said, her eyes twinkling with humor, âwe heard Derek had to save you from a bad date last week.â
A groan escaped you before you could help it, and Derek let out a bark of laughter beside you. âOh, man, donât make her relive that nightmare,â he said, shaking his head.
âNo, no, itâs okay,â you said, smiling despite yourself as all eyes turned to you, eager for details. âI mean... yeah, I was on a pretty terrible date. The kind where you just... start praying for a natural disaster to get you out of there.â
Penelope gasped, holding a hand to her heart. âSpill! What happened?â
âOkay, okay,â you said, waving your hands, âSo Iâm sitting there, right? And this personâwell, letâs just say they were a little too confident. They started cracking all these jokes that were... I mean, I think they thought they were funny, but they were more like... really weird stand-up comedy? And then, out of nowhere, they start quizzing me on, like, the most random trivia ever.â
JJ snorted into her drink. âLike what?â
âLike, âWhatâs the capital of Paraguay?ââ you said, imitating your dateâs deep, overly-serious tone. âAnd when I didnât know, he looked at me like I just insulted his whole family.â
The whole table burst into laughter, and Derek shook his head, leaning back with a smirk. âSee, I told youâyou dodged a bullet there, lady.â
âAnd thatâs where Derek came in,â you continued, grinning. âHe stormed in, looking like an angry boyfriend ready to throw down, and said âBaby, we gotta goânow.â Scared the poor chap half to death.â
âThatâs my Derek,â Elle said, raising her glass in a toast.
You shrugged with a playful smile. âGotta admit, it was a pretty solid rescue.â
Penelopeâs eyes shone as she giggled, âI wish I knew I could call on Derek every time I get stuck on a boring date. Youâre lucky you used it!â
âYeah,â you said, your smile turning genuine as you looked over at Derek, who just winked at you. âI am lucky.â
You felt the anxiety still fluttering inside but found yourself starting to relax in the presence of their welcoming smiles. Maybe Derek was rightâmaybe this could be the start of something good.
But that thought was ruined the moment Spencer walked into the bar, a wave of panic hit you like a tidal wave, your pulse spiking as you leaned into Derek, whispering frantically, âThatâs the guy!â
âWhat guy?â Derek asked, his brow furrowing in concern as he leaned closer.
âThe guy from college! The one who led me on? Smashed and dashed? Broke my heart?â
Derekâs eyes went wide as the realization hit him, and he started to push up his sleeves, his expression shifting from confusion to determination. âOh shit. Which one? I need to go have a little chat with this asshole.â
âThat one!â you pointed discreetly, your voice tight with urgency. âString bean, 10 oâclock.â
Derekâs gaze followed your finger, his mouth opening in disbelief. âSpencer?â
âWait,â you froze, eyes darting between Derek and Spencer. âHow do you know Spencer?â
Derek blinked rapidly, running a hand over his face. âNo way. No fucking way.â
âWhat, Derek, what?â you asked, anxiety gnawing at your insides.
âDerek, whatâs going on?â Elle asked, noticing the tension suddenly spiking at the table.
But before either of you could explain, Spencer was already walking toward your group. And without hesitation, Derek shouted across the room, loud enough for the whole bar to hear, âSpencer Reid, you whore!â
The bar fell into stunned silence, every conversation dropping as heads turned toward Derek and then to Spencer, who froze mid-step. The confused, panicked look on Spencerâs face was mirrored by the team around you, all of them staring at Derek as if waiting for some kind of explanation.Â
But none of that mattered, because the second Derekâs words hung in the air, you felt like you were going to combust. Your chest tightened, your ears burned, and you needed to escapeânow.Â
You couldnât bear the sight of Spencer standing there, eyes wide and confused, especially not when he looked so goodâhis curls a bit longer, his frame more filled out but still carrying that awkwardly endearing energy you remembered all too well. It only made the hurt twist deeper in your chest, the flood of memories rushing back as if no time had passed at all.
Before anyone could say a word, you bolted out of your seat, practically running toward the exit, your breaths coming in shallow gasps as you pushed through the door, away from the memories, the hurt, and the undeniable pull that Spencer still seemed to have on you.
After Derekâs loud declaration, the team was left bumbling in confusion, their chatter overlapping as they tried to make sense of what had just happened.
âWait, what did you just say?â JJ asked, her eyes darting between Derek and Spencer, trying to catch up.Â
âDid you just call Reid a whore?â Elle added, her voice rising with disbelief.
Hotch's expression hardened with concern and confusion, his eyes narrowing at Derek. âCare to explain whatâs going on here?â
Meanwhile, Penelopeâs gaze darted frantically between you, Derek, and the stunned Spencer, her mouth hanging open as if trying to piece together a puzzle with half the pieces missing. âOkay, someone fill me in, because this is getting juicyââ
Through it all, Derekâs eyes were locked on Spencer like a hawk eyeing its prey, shoulders squared, jaw tight, and very ready to pounce. Spencer was still standing frozen in place, his expression an awkward mix of shock, confusion, and nowâseeing Derekâs glareâgenuine fear. He didnât know whether to step forward, run, or explain himself. It was as if the whole bar had gone silent, the weight of everyone's eyes pressing down on him like a spotlight he couldnât escape.
âPretty boy,â Derek said, his voice low and almost menacing as he kept his eyes locked on Spencer. The tension between them was palpable, the friendly atmosphere of moments ago evaporating into something heavy and dangerous. âOver here. Now.â
Spencer swallowed hard, glancing around the bar as if trying to find an escape route, but there was noneâjust the teamâs bewildered faces and Derekâs unwavering stare. Slowly, hesitantly, he started walking toward the table, his eyes darting nervously between the team and Derek, clearly aware that whatever was going on was about to explode.Â
The whole team was silent, eyes wide as they watched the confrontation unfold, utterly confused but drawn in, unable to look away.
âWhatâs going on, Derek?â Spencerâs voice came out weak, barely holding it together as he stood awkwardly in front of the table, hands fidgeting at his sides. He glanced nervously at Derekâs clenched jaw, clearly realizing this wasnât just some joke he wasnât in on.
Derek huffed, his eyes narrowing further as he stood up to step closer to Spencer, his presence towering over him. âY/N Y/L,â he said, the name coming out like a loaded accusation. âRing a bell?â
The color drained from Spencerâs face, his expression shifting from confusion to sheer panic. Of course, he knew that name. He knew it wellâheâd never forgotten. You never gave him your full name, but that hadnât stopped him from wanting to know everything about you after that night. And so, in a moment of curiosity, guilt, and longing, heâd used his professor access to look you up in the university directory, hoping to learn more, hoping to... maybe reach out. But he'd never followed through, instead burying that memory deep, where he thought it would stay forever.
Now, that past had clawed its way to the surface. Spencer gulped, eyes wide, his voice coming out as a barely audible mumble. âUm... why?â
The whole teamâs heads bobbed back and forth between the two men like they were watching a tennis match, confusion written all over their faces. JJâs brow furrowed in disbelief, Elle leaned forward as if ready to pounce on whatever truth was about to spill out, and Penelopeâs eyes sparkled with intrigue, biting back a question to let the moment unfold.
âBecause she was just sitting here,â Derek said, his voice darkening with barely contained anger, âand when you walked in, she ran out.â
The weight of his words dropped like a bomb, and the teamâs eyes widened in sudden understanding. It took a moment for the pieces to fall into place, but when they did, the tension in the air became almost suffocating.
âWait...â Elle gasped, covering her mouth with her hand as the realization hit her. âIs that what Y/N was whispering about?â
JJ's eyes darted to Spencer, shock and disappointment painted across her face. âOh my god, Spencer!â she exclaimed, her voice rising above the din of the bar. âWhat did you do?â
Spencer's head hung low, his face pale as all eyes landed on him, his teammates' judgment clear in their expressions. He opened his mouth to respond, but no words came outâhe was caught between the truth, the shame, and the past heâd tried so hard to forget.
The tall man let out a long breath and sat down heavily at the table, facing the expectant and confused gazes of his team. He hesitated, struggling to find the right words, the truth weighed down by layers of regret and fear. But there was no hiding from this now, and he knew he had to explain.
âI... I didnât really talk about this before, but during my PhD days, I had a bit of a... busy intimate life,â he started, his voice low and wavering. He avoided eye contact, staring at the table like he could find his words hidden in the wood grain. âI was young, and it was my first time experiencing freedom like that. There were a lot of... flings, one-time things. A lot of people came and went.â
The team remained silent, eyes fixed on him, soaking in every word. Hotch sat back with his arms crossed, his face unreadable, while JJ and Penelope exchanged a shocked glance. Elle leaned in, not wanting to miss a single detail.
âAnd then I met Y/N,â Spencer continued, a small, wistful smile ghosting over his lips at the memory. âWe started out just... bumping into each other, especially in the library. Thursdays became our thing, and before I knew it, we were friendsâreal friends. And I... I fell for her, hard.â
Derekâs jaw tightened as Spencer spoke, clearly trying to hold his tongue. But he stayed silent, trying to remain calm and listen, though his knuckles turned white as he gripped the edge of the table.
âOne night, before the summer break, we hung out and... well, things got intimate,â Spencer confessed, his voice trailing off as if he could still remember every detail of that night. âBut then, afterward, I... panicked. Iâd been left before by people who only wanted one thing, and I was so sure Y/N would do the same. So I left before she could leave me. I thought I was protecting myself.â
The silence that followed was heavy, the team processing everything theyâd just heard. Penelopeâs mouth hung open in disbelief, and JJâs face was a mix of understanding and disappointment. Elle just stared, eyes wide as she tried to piece together this new side of Spencer she had never seen before.
Derek leaned back, trying to take deep breaths to stay objective, but it was clear he was struggling to reconcile this side of Spencer with the man he knewâand with your story, the pain you'd carried for so long.
Finally, the silence broke when Elle, still processing everything, blurted out, âI thought you were a virgin.â
The unexpected comment drew a stifled chuckle from Hotch, who quickly tried to cover it with a cough, shaking his head as he glanced away to regain his composure. Spencer shot a look of offense around the table, his cheeks turning red from embarrassment.
âThatâs not the point,â Derek said sharply, steering the conversation back to its heart. His tone softened but stayed firm. âYou broke her heart, kid.â
Spencerâs expression crumbled with shame, his eyes dropping to his hands fidgeting in his lap. âI... I didnât know that,â he said quietly, sounding more vulnerable than any of them had ever heard him. âShe was... she was here? Tonight?â
Penelope nodded solemnly, her usually bright demeanor clouded with concern. âYeah, she was sitting right with us,â she said gently. âShe ran out. Spencer, she ran right past you.âÂ
Spencerâs face fell, the weight of what heâd done settling heavily on his shoulders as he replayed the moment in his mindâthe stranger rushing past, too fast for him to recognize, too wrapped in his own world to realize the depth of pain he had caused.
â
Flashback
After you fell asleep with your head resting on Spencerâs chest, he stayed awake, propped up on one arm, his other hand idly tracing shapes on your back. The rise and fall of your gentle breaths sent soft puffs of warmth against his skin, and the sound of your slow, even breathing filled the quiet room. Spencer watched you with a tender smile on his face, his heart swelling with every peaceful sigh you let out.
For that moment, everything was perfectâthe warmth of your body against his, the soft glow of the moonlight through the window, and the quiet intimacy of sharing a bed after everything that had happened between you. He couldn't help but let his thoughts wander, to imagine waking up like this every morning, to imagine the rest of his life with you beside him, sharing sleepy smiles and whispered secrets in the quiet of dawn.
And that's when the panic hit.
The thought of getting so close to you, of letting his heart fall so fully and completely for you, terrified him. He had spent so long protecting himself, closing off his emotions to keep from being hurt, that the idea of letting you in was too overwhelming. He was sure that, like everyone else, youâd leave, and he didn't think he could handle the pain if it came from you. He felt the fear grip him tight, his pulse quickening as he realized what it meantâthat he had to go, now, before he fell any deeper.
As much as it broke his heart, Spencer carefully slipped out from under you, moving inch by inch to keep from waking you. But when he finally pulled away, your face scrunched up in your sleep, and your arm reached out instinctively, searching for the place he had just been. The sight nearly broke him, and for a moment, he almost crawled back into bed, almost let himself stay.
But the fear was stronger. He left, quietly slipping out into the dark, knowing he would never see you again, knowing that the one chance at something real was lost the second he closed that door behind him.
â
As soon as you got home, you collapsed onto your bed, the soft sheets barely registering beneath you as you clung to a pillow, burying your face in it. The tears came fast, heavy sobs shaking your body as the weight of everything youâd been holding in finally poured out. Memories of Spencer rushed back in a floodâthe way heâd held you, the tender words heâd whispered in the quiet of the night, and the intimacy you had shared.
You knew, even before it happened, that sleeping with him was a mistake. Youâd told yourself as much a thousand times. But the moment he left you, without so much as a word afterward, it felt like that final blow to your heartâconfirming everything you feared. The pain of being abandoned, of realizing that maybe you had meant nothing to him after all, tore at you with a fierceness that left you breathless. You hugged the pillow tighter, the softness no comfort to the ache inside.
You cried yourself to sleep that night, every emotion too overwhelming to bear. The embarrassment of bolting from the bar in front of Spencerâs team, the fear of realizing he was now part of your immediate circle, and the deep grief over what could have been. It was too much. The tears had left your eyes swollen and your throat raw, your body exhausted from the turmoil swirling inside you.
When you woke the next morning, groggy and disoriented, the sound of your phone buzzing pulled you from the comfort of sleep. Fumbling for it, you squinted at the screen before bringing it to your ear, your voice thick with sleep. âHello?â you managed, slurred through the haze of morning grogginess.
âHey, baby,â Derekâs familiar, warm voice sighed through the line. âIâm at your door with tea. Let me in?â
A disgruntled huff escaped you, not exactly ready to face the day, but you still dragged yourself out of bed. You padded over to the door and opened it, finding Derek standing there with two cups of tea and a look of understanding. Without saying a word, you took the cup he offered, wrapping your hands around the warmth and letting it soothe the ache in your chest as you sipped.
Wordlessly, the two of you made your way to your tiny balcony, the fresh morning air brushing softly against your skin. You both settled into the cozy, cushioned nookâDerekâs arm draped over your shoulder as you leaned into his warmth. The silence stretched between you, comfortable and unpressured. Derek didnât push you to speak, letting you take your time, knowing you needed the quiet after everything.
For a long while, the soft hum of the city below and the gentle sway of plants on your balcony were the only sounds filling the space. It wasnât until youâd both nearly finished your tea that Derek finally spoke.
âDo you want to talk about it?â he asked, his voice soft but filled with care, his gaze watching you carefully, ready to listen.
You sighed heavily, your fingers tightening around the warm ceramic of your mug. âI never thought Iâd see him again,â you admitted, shaking your head as you tried to process the shock of it all. âWhat are the odds?â
Derek, ever the one to lighten the mood, snorted softly. âI bet Spencer would know the answer to that,â he quipped, a small grin tugging at his lips.
You turned to glare at him, shooting him a look that clearly said not funny. Derek raised his hands in surrender, his grin faltering. âSorry. Too soon?â
You nodded, sighing as you leaned back into the cushions. âItâs always too soon with... him,â you said, your voice weighed down by all the unspoken emotions you hadnât yet unpacked.
Derek shifted beside you, the teasing gone from his expression now as he grew serious again. âHe told us what happened, you know?â he said quietly, as if trying not to make it worse but knowing you had to hear it.
Your chest tightened at the thought, embarrassment rising again. âGreat,â you muttered, your voice tinged with bitterness. âThatâs even more humiliating. The entire team knows now?â
âYeah,â Derek admitted softly, nodding as he looked at you with sympathy. âBut they also know it was him who messed up, not you.â
You stared down into your cup, feeling the sting of tears welling up again, threatening to spill over. The warmth of Derek beside you was a comfort, but it wasnât enough to lift the heavy burden pressing on your chest. His words, meant to soothe, only left you feeling more confused, more vulnerable.
âWhat do you mean?â you asked softly, barely above a whisper, your voice shaky with emotion. You didnât dare look up, afraid that making eye contact would break the fragile barrier keeping the tears at bay.
Derek took a deep breath, shifting slightly as if choosing his words carefully. âAt the bar, after you ran out... Spencer sat down with the team, and we... we didnât know what was going on at first. So we asked.â
You finally looked up at him, your brows furrowing slightly, a mix of anticipation and dread building in your stomach.
âHe told us about his time during his PhD,â Derek continued gently, his voice calm, as if he was trying to soften the blow. âSaid he... he slept around a lot back then, had a lot of one-night things, you know? And then he met you. Told us how you two became friends, how it wasnât like the other times.â
Your heart clenched at his words. Hearing it from Derek made it real in a way that felt almost unbearable. You squeezed your mug tighter, the warmth doing nothing to soothe the ache in your chest.
âHe said after you two slept together,â Derek went on, âhe panicked. Thought youâd leave him, like everyone else had. So he left first.â
You blinked rapidly, trying to keep your tears from spilling, but it was no use. You could feel the sharp sting in your throat, the familiar ache of heartache you thought youâd buried long ago. âHe left because he thought Iâd leave?â you asked, your voice thick with disbelief and hurt.
Derek nodded, his eyes full of sympathy. âYeah... He thought he was protecting himself. But, obviously, he regrets it now.â
You didnât know how to respond. The conflicting emotionsâanger, sadness, confusionâswirled inside you, leaving you breathless. Spencer had left because he was afraid of losing you, and in doing so, he broke you. And now, all these years later, you were supposed to find comfort in knowing he regretted it?
âSo thatâs why he never... reached out?â you whispered, more to yourself than to Derek.
âYeah,â Derek said softly. âHe was scared. Scared that youâd see him like all the others didâsomeone to use and then leave.â
âBasically, heâs a coward and a moron?â you asked, your voice flat but sharp with anger, needing to hear it said out loud to fully grasp the ridiculousness of it all.
Derek chuckled softly, a wry smile pulling at his lips. âYup. That sums it up,â he said, rubbing your arm in slow, soothing circles. His voice remained calm, but he could sense the storm brewing inside you. âDo you think youâll want to see him again?â
âFuck no,â you snapped without hesitation, the words coming out harsher than you expected, but you didnât care. âHe ruined any chance he had with me. He broke my heart, and all because he was scared?â The bitterness in your voice rose as the anger bubbled to the surface, mixing with the lingering pain. âI hate him.â
Derekâs smile faded into something softer, more sympathetic as he listened to you vent. He could feel the intensity of your emotions, the raw hurt that still lingered beneath the surface. But he didnât push you further, just stayed close, offering his quiet support.
âI get it,â he said softly. âYouâre allowed to be mad, to feel all of it.â
You nodded, though the tears were already blurring your vision again. The anger felt good, cathartic in a way, but it didnât take away the hurt. Spencer had shattered something inside you, and no explanation, no regret from him could change that.
Derek stayed with you for the rest of the day, determined to lift your spirits and bring some lightness back into the heavy atmosphere that had settled over you. After the emotional morning, he suggested a change of paceâa "no more thinking about him" kind of day.
The two of you moved back inside, and after raiding your fridge, you ended up sprawled out on the couch with a pile of snacks between you. Derek flipped through channels until he landed on an old action movie, something so absurd and over-the-top it was impossible not to laugh at the cheesy explosions and dramatic one-liners.
As the movie played in the background, you both sat there, munching on chips and teasing each other. âIf I ever get into a high-speed chase, Iâll make sure to drive into an alley with just enough space for me to barely escape, but the bad guys canât,â Derek quipped, waving a chip in the air like it was his master plan.
âObviously,â you laughed, nudging him with your shoulder. âBecause clearly, thatâs what makes you invincible.â
âOh, Iâm invincible, baby,â Derek grinned, flexing his arm dramatically. âI donât need an alley to escape the bad guys.â
You rolled your eyes, laughing at his theatrics. âYeah, yeah. Weâll see how âinvincibleâ you are next time you try to carry all the grocery bags at once and drop the eggs.â
Derek clutched his chest in mock horror. âLow blow, Y/N. You know I was saving us from multiple trips.â
âSure, sure,â you teased, tossing a chip at him. âWhatever helps you sleep at night, Mr. Invincible.â
He caught the chip mid-air and popped it into his mouth, smirking as he chewed. âNot everyone can be as perfect as you, baby.â
The day passed in a blur of easy conversation, laughter, and moments of comfortable silence. Derek didnât push you to talk about anything heavy, and the weight that had sat on your chest all morning began to lift, replaced with the warmth of knowing you had a friend who could make you forget the world for a little while.
By the end of the day, you were curled up under a blanket, feeling lighter than you had in days.
â
âDerek!â Spencer called out, jogging to catch up just as Derek was waiting for the elevator. His breath was a little ragged, his urgency clear. He needed to talk, needed to know.
Derek turned, his eyes scanning Spencerâs face, reading the familiar mix of emotions. He had softened toward Spencer since the initial blow-up, knowing that his friend was hurting too. Spencer had made a mess of things, but he was still one of Derekâs closest friends, and Derek couldnât ignore his struggle.
âSup, Reid?â Derek greeted casually, though there was a layer of understanding beneath the light tone.
âHi, um,â Spencer panted, catching his breath from the jog. âDid you see Y/N again this weekend?â
Derek nodded, his expression softening even further. âYeah, I did.â
Spencerâs eyes flickered with hope and uncertainty, hesitating before speaking again. He clearly wanted to ask more, but the words seemed caught in his throat. Derek saw the struggle and decided to give him an out.
"Come on, man. Letâs grab a drink," Derek offered, nodding toward the door as the elevator opened. He knew this conversation was going to be heavier than a quick exchange by the elevators.
A little while later, the two of them were sitting side by side at the bar. Their beers sat untouched, the weight of their conversation lingering between them. Spencer had been unusually quiet all night, his usual rambling replaced by a tension that had been hanging over him since he saw you again.
âSo,â Spencer began cautiously, his fingers tracing the rim of his glass as if the movement could steady his thoughts. âUh... howâs Y/N been?â
Derek exhaled, setting his beer down with a quiet thud. He hated being caught in the middle of this, but Spencerâs eyes were so full of uncertainty, so full of regret, that Derek couldnât ignore the question. He had to be honest. âSheâs... doing alright,â Derek said carefully, trying not to reveal too much. âKeeping busy. Working on some new projects.â
Spencerâs shoulders relaxed a fraction, and he nodded slowly. âThatâs good,â he muttered, though the slight tremble in his voice betrayed just how much hearing about you affected him.Â
âWhat, uh, what does she do for work?â Spencer asked, his fingers nervously twisting the beer bottle in his hand, his gaze avoiding Derek's for a moment.
Derek sighed, knowing exactly where this conversation was heading but humoring Spencer for now. âSheâs an interior designer.â
âOh, cool,â Spencer muttered, nodding absently, still twirling his beer. There was a beat of silence before he asked, âHow did you two meet?â
Derek smiled at the memory, a small chuckle escaping him. âWe ran into each other, literally, at a hardware store. I was standing there, staring at paint, and she bumped into me. She ended up helping me pick out a paint color for my walls, and, well, the rest is history.â
âThatâs nice,â Spencer said, his voice quieter now, as if he was picturing the scene in his mind. âShe, uh, she likes it? The job, I mean?â
âShe loves it,â Derek replied with a soft smile, thinking about how passionate you were whenever you talked about your latest project. It was clear how much joy your work brought you, and Derek admired that.
The conversation hovered for a moment, Spencer swirling the beer in his hand, staring into the golden liquid as if it might hold the answers he was looking for. He didnât dare ask the question that was lingering on the tip of his tongueâDoes she ever talk about me?âbut Derek could feel it hanging in the air between them, thick with unspoken regret.
Derek leaned back, exhaling softly. He knew Spencer was desperate for some sign, some hope, but he also knew you hadnât mentioned Spencer much since the first time you told Derek about him, and this most recent run-in.Â
But Derek couldnât lie, and he wasnât about to give Spencer any false hope. âShe doesnât want to see you, Spencer,â Derek said gently, watching the way Spencerâs expression crumbled, the tiny shred of hope slipping through his fingers. âSheâs... still hurt.â
Spencer swallowed hard, his gaze dropping to the table. When he spoke, his voice was barely a whisper, full of regret and guilt. âI know.â
â
The Humane Society was always a favorite outing for you two, mostly because Derek loved the idea of being surrounded by dogs, and you were more than happy to tag along to play with the animals.
You knelt down by one of the cages, your fingers scratching behind the ears of a little brown puppy with floppy ears and bright eyes. âYou are too cute,â you cooed, watching as the puppy wagged its tail excitedly. âHow is it that I've managed to leave here every time without adopting?â
Derek was busy with a scrappy terrier, laughing as the dog tugged at his shoelaces. âBecause Iâm here to remind you that you have plants youâve barely managed to keep alive.â
âLow blow,â you snickered, standing up to join him. âBut I could definitely handle one of these guys. Look at their little faces!â
Derek raised an eyebrow, his smile teasing. âYeah, you say that now, but when youâre knee-deep in chewed shoes and puppy accidents, youâll be texting me to dog-sit.â
You grinned, nudging his arm as the two of you continued walking down the row of cages. âI think we both know youâd love it.â
âOkay, maybe,â Derek admitted, glancing down at one of the puppies that had followed you to the edge of its cage. âBut only because Iâd get to play with them all day.â
âExactly.â You shot him a grin. The day was filled with laughter and excitement, the two of you in your elementâjust two friends enjoying the company of animals and each other.
â
Derek was in the bullpen when he felt Spencer approach, that familiar presence hovering like a shadow. He looked up from his paperwork, knowing exactly what was coming.
âHey,â Spencer said, his voice quieter than usual. âCan I ask... has Y/N said anything?â
Derek leaned back in his chair, folding his arms across his chest. âReid, man, Iâve told youâshe doesnât want to talk about it.â
Spencerâs brow furrowed, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. âI just... I donât understand how I couldâve hurt her this much. I didnât think...â He trailed off, unsure of how to explain his regret without making excuses.
Derek rubbed a hand over his face, torn between wanting to protect you and wanting Spencer to see the bigger picture. âLook, I get that you didnât mean to hurt her. But man, youâve got to understandâshe trusted you. And when you left, it wasnât just about what happened back then. Itâs about the fact that you walked away without a word.â
Spencer blinked, absorbing the weight of Derekâs words. âI didnât know it would be this bad,â he whispered.
Derek shook his head slightly, his voice firm but not unkind. âThatâs the problem, Spencer. You never thought about what itâd do to her. She wasnât just mad. She was heartbroken.â
â
The sun was warm, and the cafĂŠâs outdoor seating was just breezy enough to make the day feel perfect. You and Derek sat across from each other, laughing over your latest failed online shopping attempts.
âI swear, I ordered a rug, and it looked like it belonged in a dollhouse when it arrived,â you groaned, rolling your eyes dramatically. Derek threw his head back with a laugh, shaking his head in disbelief.
âY/N, at this point, you should just let me handle your shopping. Your luck is terrible,â he teased, sipping his iced coffee.
âDonât even try, Morgan. I canât be trusted to order anything online, but Iâm a wizard in an actual store.â You wagged a finger at him before diving into your sandwich. âBesides, you love dragging me around for advice.â
âYeah, okay,â Derek grinned, âbut weâre heading to the home goods store after this. No more rugs, though. Promise me.â
You smirked. âNo promises. Letâs see where the wind takes us.â
The rest of the day was filled with easy banter as you roamed the aisles of a nearby store, pointing out throw pillows and quirky decor that caught your eye. Derek kept up the playful commentary, pretending to be appalled at your taste, but you could tell he was having just as much fun as you were.
At one point, he held up a neon-green lamp, his face mock-serious. âThis. This is the statement piece your living room has been missing.â
âOh my god, put that down before it blinds me,â you laughed, shoving him playfully as you moved on to the next aisle.
â
Penelope, Hotch, and JJ were deep in conversation when Derek noticed Spencer hovering nearby, clearly wanting to ask something but too nervous to interrupt. Derek already knew what was coming. It had become a patternâevery few days, Spencer would subtly try to ask about you without making it obvious.
As soon as the group dispersed, Spencer sidled up to Derek, eyes darting nervously around the bullpen. âDid Y/N say anything about... that thing you guys did last weekend?â
Derek raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. âWe grabbed lunch and went shopping. You want details about the food she ordered, or are you gonna admit what youâre really asking?â
Spencerâs face flushed, his hands twitching at his sides. âI... I just want to know if sheâs okay.â
Derek sighed, his expression softening. âSheâs okay, Spencer. It was a long time ago. But listen... you need to understand that just because sheâs functioning now doesnât mean sheâs not still hurting.â He lowered his voice, giving Spencer a hard look. âIf you really want to fix this, youâve got to stop waiting for her to just be fine and start thinking about what you need to do to make things right.â
Spencer bit his lip, nodding. He opened his mouth as if to say something more, but Derek shook his head. âSheâs not ready, man. Donât push.â
â
As you sat in the car, driving back from the movies with Derek, you stared out the window, feeling peaceful. That is, until he finally broke the silence.
âSo,â he said, his tone more serious than usual. âAre we gonna talk about it?â
You blinked, turning to him with a slight frown. âTalk about what?â
Derek glanced over at you, his brow furrowed slightly. âSpencer.â
The mention of his name hit you hard, but you quickly forced a smile, brushing it off. âThereâs nothing to talk about.â
Derek raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. âCome on, Y/N. Youâve been great at pretending youâre fine, but I know you better than that. Youâre good, but youâre not that good. I am a profiler, sweetheart.â
You sighed, leaning back in your seat. âIâm fine, Derek. Iâve moved on. Iâm happy now.â
Derek didnât respond right away. He pulled into a parking lot and turned off the engine, giving you a pointed look. âI know youâre happy, and Iâm glad. But pretending those feelings donât exist doesnât make them go away.â
You bit your lip, staring down at your hands. âWhat do you want me to say? That it still hurts? That Iâm angry? Because I am. Iâm all of those things. But it doesnât change anything. Spencerâs in the past, and Iâm not letting him mess up what Iâve got now.â
Derekâs expression softened, his voice gentle as he leaned back. âIâm not saying you have to do anything. I just donât want you to keep bottling it up.â
You exhaled slowly, the tension slipping out of your body as you met Derekâs gaze. âIâm fine. Really. But... thanks for asking.â
Derek smiled, nodding as he started the car again. âAlright. Just know Iâm here, okay?â
You smiled back, feeling grateful for the reminder. âI know.â
âWould you be willing to talk to him? Heâs pretty beaten up about the whole thing,â Derek asked cautiously, his eyes flicking over to you with that careful, almost too-soft look. It was the look he reserved for moments when he didnât want to push you but knew he had to ask anyway.
Your stomach tightened at the mention of Spencer, the name still carrying more weight than you wanted to admit. You kept your gaze out the window, watching the buildings blur by, pretending the question didnât send a ripple of unease through your chest.
âDerekâŚâ you started, your voice trailing off, unsure of how to respond. The thought of seeing Spencer again, of opening that old wound, felt like more than you could handle.
âI know,â Derek cut in gently, sensing your hesitation. âI wouldnât ask if I didnât think it was worth it. But Iâve talked to him, Y/N. Heâs... not the same guy he was. He messed up, and he knows that.â
You shook your head slightly, your fingers absentmindedly tracing the edge of your seatbelt. âI donât know if I can, Derek. He left. Without a word. I donât know what there is to talk about anymore.â
âI get that,â Derek said softly, his voice low and careful. âBut maybe thereâs some closure in it for you. And for him. You donât have to forgive him, but maybe hearing him out would help. For both of you.â
You sighed, the weight of his words pressing down on you. Closure. Did you need it? Or was keeping Spencer in the past the only way to really move on?
âI donât know,â you murmured finally, your voice thick with uncertainty.
Derek didnât push any further, his silence a testament to how well he understood you. âItâs your call, babe,â he said after a long pause. âBut just think about it. No pressure.â
You nodded slowly, your heart conflicted as you continued staring out the window, the unease still swirling inside you.

Three, Two, One. - Chapter 1
Summary: You and Spencer have worked in the BAU together for years, since the beginning but now, he's your boss and something quite big is happening in your life & soon to be Spencer's life after needing each others help to unwind.
Pairing: UnitChief!Spencer Reid x Fem!BAU!Reader
WC: 3.3k
Warnings: Pregnancy, Angst, Cheating??
A/N: LOW & BEHOLD- here lays my first beauty. - my apologies is this is complete shit, I have not written in a while & I may have to get my special touch back. - anyways, i hope you guys like it ! đŞđ¤
Three, Two, One. Chaper 2.
three, two, one-
pregnant.
You were pregnant. You were pregnant with your bosses baby.
Spencer has not always been your boss, you actually started working for the BAU a month before he had even started working there.
He took over Emily's position once she moved up to FBI Director a few months back, at that congratulations party is when something sparked between you and Spencer- just, neither of you acted on it
You remember exactly how and when it happened too, it was the party after his promotion to Unit Chief. Goddamn promotion parties. You didnât think you drank that much, until you woke up naked beside your new boss.
The temptation to pack a bag and hop on a flight across the world sounded so appetizing right now in your mind, too bad that it isn't realistic & you were going to have to face the facts and that was including, him.
There was never any âno speaking of thisâ - only us meeting up at my apartment, his apartment, our hotel rooms when we were on a case and needed to âunwindâ - the last time you and Spence had even slept together was 2-3 weeks ago anyway, of course when y'all needed to unwind after a case. Who could've guessed that one?
You were snatched from your thoughts when you heard your phone ringing from your bedroom- running for it, you were hoping that it wasn't Spencer.
âPenelope Garcia đĽď¸đđŠâ 'thank the heavens' you silently think to yourself
âWhatâs up, Pennyâ
âSpencer is busy, he put me on duty to call you to find out if you plan to show your face at work today, ya know- since it is a work day and no show, no calls are frowned upon here" Your neck snaps to look at your alarm clock.
"Also, he wants to see you in his office once you get here"
7:32 A.M - have I seriously been staring at a positive pregnancy test for an entire hour?
âFuck. See you soon. I'm leaving right now"
The short drive to work felt longer than it should have, probably because you took back roads to avoid having to see him again so soon. If you were already running late, what is a few extra minutes?
So many thoughts flying through your mind. How are you going to tell him? Oh hey, by the way, ya knocked me up so whatâs the plan bud?!
âI'm doomed" You mutter to yourself getting out of your vehicle to go face reality, to go face the man of your now growing child. This has to be a nightmare.
Getting off of the elevator, the first person you saw was Alvez- boy, you were thankful that it wasn't Spencer, even though you'd be seeing him in just a few minutes.
"Looks like you saw a ghost"
"Yeah, Luke, something like that"
"You want to talk about it?"
"Not right now, I just want to forget about it- I need to see Pen" yeah, Y/N, like you'll actually be able to forget about it.
You make a beeline directly for Penelope's office, you have to tell someone about this before you actually lose your mind.
"Pen, I have news and it has to stay between you and I only"
"Your secret is safe with me, my love"
"I'm pregnant.. with Spencer's baby" you hesitated even saying the last part but wow, that felt good to get off of your chest, too bad it won't feel this easy with Spencer. Just thinking of having to tell him has you feeling like someone is choking you out.
"Oh."
"Oh? Pen, I am in a state of panic, a state of shock and you say 'Oh'- I don't know what to even begin to do here or how to even tell Reid that I am carrying his.. spawn"
"Spencer has a girlfriend or did, as far as I kn- okay, when did you find outâ She cuts herself after seeing the look of horror on your face after hearing the beginning of her sentence, understandably so!
You were NOT the type of person to sleep with a taken man.
You were confident that you were about to face plant the ground right here and now in Penelopeâs office. Did Spencer have a girlfriend or not? And were you about to go physically fight him for doing this to her, if so? You would be considering yourself jobless at that point.
âI found out this morning, literal minutes before you called me to get my ass hereâ you were in a pure state of panic and you had many good reasons as to why.
âHow long has he had a girlfriend, Pen?â you continued- you were sure your skin was blistering with how hot it was at this point. Was it hot out of anger or the panic attack that was charging at you? Who knows anymore because you didnât care enough in this single second to sit and determine that.
"I don't know, he just mentioned a date a few weeks ago then didn't mention anything again but I know he's still in communication with her and by the contact name in his phone, I don't think they are just friends" Penelope lets you in on all of this, nervously- like she isn't supposed to be saying anything at all.
"Thanks, Pen" You murmur to her her as you leave, you have to leave her office, the longer you are in there, the more it feels like the walls are literally closing in on you.
Walking into the hallway, you don't know which direction to go- You should probably go see Spencer and give him some bullshit excuse as to why you were late.
It was barely 8 A.M, maybe it was past 8 A.M now- your mind is going too fast to try and keep up with time. Regardless, it's too early in the morning to drop a pregnancy announcement on someone.
Finally, you muster up the courage to walk into the bullpen to go on the hunt for Spencer, as much as your mind and body are telling you to just bolt to your car and never look back.
"Tara, do you know where Spencer is?" You ask quietly, so that you don't disturb the others around you
"No, I saw him walk out of his office a few minutes ago but I haven't seen him go back in. If you find him before me, let me know because I need to go over some things with him"
"I'll go knock and see if he's back, thanks Tara"
You can visibly see his blinds are closed but majority of the time they are closed anyways, so that doesn't even matter to you. Walking up the flight of stairs to get to his office is exhausting, it feels like your legs weigh 1000 pounds each.
Standing in front of his office, you hear talking inside- You can very clearly hear a females voice inside talking to him but you honestly couldn't tell if she was over the phone or actually in his office by how muffled it is, it's safe to assume that it is a phone call.
"No going back now since you're already here" You mumble to yourself
Knock, knock, knock
"Come in" You hear a muffled Spencer behind the door
As your opening the door, you quickly hear him state to the woman on the phone 'I have to go, I'll see you tonight' - God, as if you haven't already wanted to run away all morning, it keeps getting worse.
"Pen said you wanted to see me?"
"Yes, please sit" He says, gesturing to the chair
"Are you okay, Y/N? - You were late this morning, we've worked together for many years now and you've never once ran late, it's not like you not to communicate" You can see on his face that he cares, he didn't bring you in here to give you a lecture over something small, especially since this is your first time ever running late.
"Y-yes, I just woke up late and then getting to my car, I realized I had a flat, so I had to ask my neighbor to use his pump to fill it" You lied straight through your pearly white teeth and you were confident that he knew it to, just by the look he was giving you
He stares at you for a moment, trying to read you for anything. You were thankful for the fact that sometimes you were an impossible person to read
"Please, just communicate next time- It's not a big deal you were late, we just didn't know what was going on until I had Garcia get a hold of you"
"I will, you have my word- Am I good to go now?" You ask while standing up, yes, the talk went better than expected but you still wanted out of this office as fast as possible.
"Yes, thank you for coming to talk to me. Oh, also before I forget to mention it, at some point today whenever we both have free time, I would like to have a conversation. If it's just at the end of the day that's fine. It just needs to happen"
All you can bring yourself to do is nod your head and walk out of the room, based on the ass end of the phone call you walked in on- You have a pretty good hunch what he will be saying to you, especially after what Garcia also let you in on
It makes your heart ache- knowing that he could have a girlfriend, knowing this thing that the two of you had will be coming to an end, by no means were you and Spencer in a committed relationship but you would be lying to yourself, if you said you hadn't gained feelings for him and actually wanted more than just a 'fuck buddy' outcome
"So, is he up in the office? I really need to see him" Tara asks while already walking up there and away from you before you can even give her an answer.
You know for a fact that you are not going to be able to focus on work at all today even if you try your hardest, your anxiety is skyrocketing through the roof waiting for this conversation with Spencer and still, wondering when and how you are going to spill the beans about carrying his growing child.
"Alright, what is your issue? Are you pregnant?" Alvez is like a brother to you, nothing has been off limits in the talking department but this just sent you for a whole loop with how bluntly he asked.
You were confident that if it were possible, your eyes would've popped right out of their sockets and into your lap.
"Alvez, I am not discussing this with you right now" you whisper yelled to him, you didn't mean to come off like a bitch at all but god only knows who could've heard him.
"Well, Y/N, If I am being entirely honest. Penelope lets some things slip from time to time" He states like it's the most obvious thing ever.
All you can seem to do is look at him like a dear in the headlights, you feel your skin getting hot and prickly, it feels like there are someones hands around your throat squeezing harder and harder by the second.
"I have to go, I need to go home, I need air" It all comes out in a panic, you get up from your desk and bolt out of the bullpen and down the stairs, you don't even care to take the elevator. You cannot be stuck in a tight spot right now, a tight spot like an elevator.
"Please, just communicate" - "I will, you have my word" the conversation in Spencer's office goes through your mind and you know that you have to communicate with him that you just left work for the day and you don't plan to come back today, atleast- you couldn't and thankfully, it was Friday.
to: Spencer 'The Genius' Reid
'I have to excuse myself for the day, I'm sorry that I am having to send you a text message about this rather than coming to your office- this is me communicating with you. I will return back to my work duties on Monday, unless of course, a case pops up over the weekend then I will be here'
'also, I know we need to have a conversation, I also have something I need to tell you- let me know when you would like this conversation to take place' -
After sending your texts to Spencer, you set your phone on DND because at this point, you don't want to deal with anything or anyone else today, emergency or not.
Driving home was an entire blur, I mean you made it home alive, so that's what matters, I guess.
Walking inside, you plop onto the couch and turn on your favorite comfort show.. Modern Family.
A few hours later, you wake up in the exact place you laid down at- you thought your couch was so comfy until now when your entire body is in pain.. well, maybe it was your horrible sleeping position.
5:13 P.M -
"sweet baby jesus on a motorbike" You mutter to yourself after looking at the clock
"what are you doing to me?" You ask while poking your non-existent baby bump, granted it was a great sleep so you weren't trying to complain- you had heard from JJ in the past that early pregnancy is exhausting and you will sleep.. ALOT.
**BACK AT THE BAU**
"I just practically asked her if it was true but maybe in a more blunt way, it wasn't meant to come out so.. blunt" Alvez explains to Penelope who apparently watched you sprint out of work.
"I specifically told you not to say anything to her about it, I didn't even mean to let it slip to you of all people, Luke. I don't even think that they were in a relationship which makes this so much more difficult for her, as I could imagine" Pen snaps back at Luke.
"It's not going past me, I'm not opening my mouth to anyone about it" Luke says while walking to the Elevator with Pen, finally the work day was over
"Yeah, you let it slip to someone or who knows, I accidentally do again and Spencer is going to find out which right now, that doesn't need to happen" Pen states while being wildly unaware of who just came up behind them
"What doesn't Spencer need to find out right now and why can't he find out right now?" He asks from directly behind Alvez and Garcia, looking between the two of them for a answer.
Luke and Penelope both seem to jump straight out of their skin, not expecting to be crept up on- in reality, it was not Spencer's plan to creep up on them, he just happened to be leaving at the exact time as them and they didn't hear him coming up in the middle of their 'supposed to be' private conversation that was happening out in the open.
"I- uh it's nothing, well, sir, it's nothing in regards to me, i'm fine- it's not my place to tell you, it wasn't my place to tell, Luke- it just slipped and I am blabbering and I just realized that I need to get home" Before Spencer or Luke could say anything to her or anything more to Spencer, she's in the elevator with the doors closing.
'Nice Penelope, real nice' Luke thinks to himself, feeling a bit annoyed and slightly scared
Turning to look behind him, he sees Spencer's eyes boring right into him like he's staring right into Luke's soul, just waiting and searching for answers.
"Is there anything that you know, Alvez?" Spencer finally breaks the silence, otherwise who knows how long the two of them would've stayed standing there in the awkward paralyzing silence.
"I just know Y/N had to leave early today because, well I don't know why but I just know she left- you're her boss too, she should've communicated with you, right?"
"Right, Luke and she did, I have been trying to text and call her since I received her messages and nothing is going through" Reid is quick to bite back, getting quite annoyed himself being left in the dark and now that he is adding the pieces together, he's assuming these secretive things that "he isn't allowed to know about currently" are about you.
"I don't have any other information, what I told you is all I know- but I do need to get home to Roxy" Luke matter-of-factly states even though Luke knows that Luke is lying, well- not about Roxy but about the first part.
"Mhm, alright. Have a good night, Luke" Spencer gave up on trying to get any information out of the turnips that don't bleed but he is confident when he says this is about you and he will get to the bottom of it.
Back at your apartment, you've finally relaxed after a nice hot shower and ordering from your favorite chinese food joint and yes, still watching your comfort show but this time from the comfort of your own bed.
You still haven't even taken your phone off of DND mode, in your mind all you thought was 'if it is important enough, you know where I live and if you don't, contact Penelope Garcia' and the most important part, you were at peace.
You weren't worried about this pregnancy, you had accepted your fate, you weren't worried about Spencer or his new situ-relationship, you weren't even worried about what had happened with Alvez or Garcia. Peace.
"jesus Spencer, what the fuck" You yell out after walking out of the room and coming face to face with him, to say that you were startled was to say the absolute least
"Well, you would've known I was coming if someone didn't have their phone on airplane mode" He bit back with a darkness in his eyes and maybe a bit of worrisome, you couldn't tell everything with how dark it was.
"I know that I gave people a key to my house for emergencies but our conversation or how I was protecting my peace on a Friday night is not an emergency and frankly, if anyone was that worried, you would've sent someone sooner" You were once again fed up and wanted to continue to be alone with your favorite person, Phil Dunphy.
"I was going to drop our conversation until this weekend or even Monday, when we see each other in person again but funny enough, I was walking out to leave for the day when I walked into Luke's and Penelope's conversation and it was about you and something that I shouldn't be finding out about right now- would you happen to know anything about that?" Spencer replied, getting more and more fed up by the second.
If Spencer didn't know any better, he would say that you looked like you just saw a ghost- he was dead on the money about the conversation and some secret rooting back to you- now to just get it out of you.
Calming down after seeing the state you were rushing into, he comes to you with a softer approach - "Y/N, I want to help you. We've known each other for years, since I started working for the BAU, please let me know. Let me know what is going on. I'm not going anywhere"
You felt like you were about to up-chuck your chinese food all over this poor man, you know you need to tell him.
'Y/N you will never know the outcome of this unless you open your mouth and spill those words to him, be brave, be bold' You think silently to yourself.
"Spencer, I'm pregnant - You are the last person I slept with. I am pregnant with your baby"
if this is horrible, sue me - i haven't written in forever and honestly, this is a little bit longer than i thought it would be - whoops!
FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED
& yeah, yeah- i left this on a cliffhanger, if you beautiful humans actually like this, i had planned to make this a 2 parter story or who knows, if i make the next part longer then it could be 3 or more parts.

hey! i know that you stated you would be willing to write about an ED recently, would it be possible to maybe do a teenage daughter (maybe reidâs?) being comforted by both him and garcia? both are my comfort characters and i feel like garcia would just be so helpful and her and reid are a dynamic duo. the context of the ED can be in any way that is comfortable for you to write (this is just me wishing that i had comfort for my eating issues when i was younger)
How about some headcanons? (I feel like I should do these more often. Sometimes they're more comforting than fics.) Every person with an ED finds different things comforting, so take what you like and discard what you don't.
TW: Spencer and Garcia helping you with an eating disorder
Spencer puts together the best team for you possible and he comes with you to all your appointments even if it means missing work.
He knows you're scared so he does whatever he can do to make you feel more comfortable- hugs you, holds your hand, plays with your hair- literally anything to make it as low-stress as possible.
If he's on a case then Garcia goes with you.
She's the same way- it's constant hugs and hand squeezes and telling you how strong and brave and amazing you are.
Spencer knows that punishment or force are going to get you nowhere.
So that dietition that told him to force you to eat certain things? yeah he never made you go back to them.
Garcia lmade sure that their 5 star rating on google was pushed down to a 2.
Garcia home-makes everything you are comfortable eating.
She never mentions it though- not how much time she spent making it, or what it contains, or even that she knows it's something you're comfortable with.
She just makes it and puts it in fun colored temperware for you (never see through containers if those cause issues for you).
She also makes fun stickers for anything store-bought to cover up the nutrion facts.
Comes up with the best non-food related nicknames for you.
Derek called you "sweet pea" once and she hit him with her file folder so hard he had a bruise for a week even though he didn't know.
Spencer and Garcia both give you constant words of affirmation.
Texts from Garcia right before you go to lunch like "hi little wonder. I'm proud of you not matter what."
Spencer telling you famous quotes based on what he thinks you need that day.
If you have a day that's really bad, Spencer hugs you (but never too tight). If you need to cry he holds you while you cry.
If you need alone time he makes sure to check on you.
If you have a day that's really bad and Spencer is away on a case Garcia drops everything to get you.
She brings you to the office is she has to.
You look at videos of puppies and kittens together in-between her working.
If your dad is gone overnight she will bring you to her apartment or stay at Spencer's depending on what makes you feel comfortable.
Recovery is hard, but it's better with them

you know what would be cool? A blurb about Spencer and girly!reader who's a total nerd and loves ribbons, dresses and jewels. I HATE the stereotype of nerdy people who don't care much about how they look and dress in a ""weird"" way
spencer reid x girly!reader. fluff. 0.6k words. fem reader. reader likes harry potter (it's briefly mentioned. fuck jkr!)
a/n: so u mean penelope garcia?? kidding! idk how good i feel about this but i really wanted to get this request up sorry itâs so late :( thank you for the request âĄ
spencer reid who did not expect to feel anything other than fleeting attraction for the pretty girl he had bumped into at the coffee shop closest to the quantico building. or to actually see you again other than that one moment in the midst of his running-late-to-work panic. only to have found out that the brand new member that aaron hotchner was introducing that day was none other than that same pretty girl.Â
who had stammered out another apology â the stack of them were growing quite high for a man you had only met that morning â and introduced himself to you, properly. spencer reid who you could hear telling morgan to shut up, because "she might hear you!" because he was teasing spencer about the way he was looking at you and he feared the absolute worst when it came to girls like you.Â
spencer reid who's nerves melted away the first time you contributed something to the team during a briefing â something about the statistics of the child abduction you all were currently investigating, that he was able to bounce off of and agree with. you both had to dumb down the words you had used and explain it to the rest of the team again. which he was used to. he didn't think he'd ever find someone who had to do that as well.Â
who listened to you when you began to ramble about this book series you were reading and how cool it is because "it spans like three different continents and there's so many different sub-series but they all connect somehow!" and nobody else was listening. but he was.
spencer reid who began to accept your rides home after you had learned he usually catches the train, because you had discovered he lived only a block away from you. rides home that eventually turned into going over to each other's apartments after that one time he said he wanted to show you the hogwarts lego set because you mentioned liking the series.Â
he stopped coming up with excuses to have you over the fourth time, and had simply said "i just want you to come over". that was the day you had discovered you think you might like him.Â
spencer reid who let you sleep on his bed despite your own insistence when it hit two in the morning and you both had work the next morning and you were still at his apartment watching doctor who together (he was flabbergasted to learn you had never seen it).Â
and he had woken you up the next morning and he was so cute and his hair was sticking up everywhere and he was kind of smiling at you and you confirmed with yourself that yes, you liked him.Â
spencer reid who had properly asked you on a date after a long three months of you flirting with him because morgan had been seeing it and was getting sick of him doing nothing about it. who picked you up this time, and had laughed when you wound the windows of his car back up because "my hair will fly everywhere!" and "if i lose this bow, you're paying for a new one spencer reid!"
but he had also kind of forgotten how to talk, when he sat across from you at the kind of dingy italian restaurant (he didn't know where else to take you, okay?). because while he had fallen for a girl who shared so many interests with him he was sure she might be his carbon copy, he was also violently reminded (as he was every time he looked at you) how pretty you were.Â
and spencer reid wishes he could describe you with any other word, because he's sure there's bigger and harder to say words out there that could describe you. but none of them made sense the way pretty did.Â
you had questioned his silence and he had stammered as much as he did the day you met, and you smiled because if all it took was you dressing up to fluster him, you decided you'd do it a lot more often.
your reblogs and replies are always appreciated dearly âĄ

Penelope Garcia X Teen Son Reader
Haven't done nearly enough for Penelope so here we go, hope you like this
This will be a long one for Penelope!
Rwquest: Hello! I love your chapters and wanted to place a request!
A teen trans male with autism, who is the son of Penelope Garcia. The reader is male passing, and was kidnapped by an unsub who is selling teen boys off to high paying bidders on a live feed chatroom.
Third person pov...
It was a normal day for Y/N Garcia, the teen was on his way home from school, as he walked he heard a sound coming from one of the alleyways.
"Meow"
The H/C teen looks around for the kitten, he looks around and underneath all the rubbish, quietly calling for the kitten to show itself, Y/N had always been a sucker for anything cute, which he got from his Mum the ever bubbly Penelope Garcia.
"Psst psst, come here kitty" he calls into the darkness kneeling on the ground, he had left his back pack by the entrance of the alleyway, after calling for the kitten again Y/N sighs.
Unbeknownst to him, he was being watched by a sinister figure lurking in the shadows. This man, known only as the Unsub, had been tracking Y/N for weeks, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
The teen was a bit put out that he couldn't find the kitten and began walking back to grab his bag, as he swings it onto his shoudler he hears a sound.
This of course made the teen turn, raising an eyebrow he looked around but didn't see anything, then a hand was put on his shoudler.
The Boy instinctively flinched and pushed the hand off, being Autistic the H/C teenager hates being touched unexpectedly. He can hug his mum fine because she announces that she is going to hug him so it doesn't scare the teen.
Twisting away from the hand, he looked up and saw a man, he was tall and skinny, he had a 'creepy' grin on his face as if he enjoyed the scare he gave the boy infront.
Y/N took a small step away from the man, the mans eyes looked Y/N up and down before smirking. "You'll do perfectly" he speaks, before Y/N had a chance to run he was knocked out and being thrown into a white van.
With a pained groan Y/N opened his eyes, as he did he didn't see the alleyway, only a horribly small room.
"What the hell?" Mutters the teen, he was surrounded by ugly white walls with a metal door that was most likely locked, the only light source was a small kids size lamp, which was sat on top of a small wooden box.
Y/N took in the room and the dirty mattress he was currently lying on, he also had numerous toys around him. It was as if someone planned for him to be there.
E/C eyes desperately searched for a way out, but he couldn't find one, in the far corner was a poor excuse for a toilet.
The teen could feel his heart beat rapidly in his chest, breathing heavy he could feel a panic attack coming on, he got those when he was stressed(which was a lot)
He slammed his back up against a wall, holding a hand to his chest, trying go calm himself down, he began to stim. Flapping his hands quickly in front he slowly began go breath normally again.
Closing his eyes for a few minutes his breathing finally went back go normal, usually his Mum helped him through his panic attacks, glad he did it himself.
"Okay, I'm in a room, probably been kidnapped" the teen muttered to himself, as he looked up he saw a camera. "Oh god" he cried dropping his head to his knees wishing this nightmare was over.
The kidnapper an unsub known only as 'The Collector,' had been watching the teen for weeks, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
The Collector was a notorious criminal who had been selling teenage boys to high-paying bidders on a live feed chatroom. He had a twisted fascination with the innocence and vulnerability of these boys, and he saw them as nothing more than commodities to be bought and sold.
Y/N had been on his list of victims for a while now, he didn't want to waste anymore time not having the H/C teen.
Penelope was currently pacing in her office, it had been almost an hour since she last heard from her son, she knew
Y/N had left his school and was walking home when suddenly he stopped.
The technical analysis was tracking his phone GPS which hadn't left the alleyway he'd been in for more than half an hour.
"He's okay he's okay, probably got distracted by a cat of something" she mutters to herself, still pacing in her office.
As she was spiraling, a sound from her computer made the colorful woman turn around, a gasp left her throat as she clicked on the email.
She had received a cryptic message from another hacker who was trollong through live feeds of predators and noticed a familiar face, one Y/N garcia.
The message also contained a link to the live feed chatroom, where the Unsub was auctioning off Y/N, Penelope quickly scrabbled for her laptop and slammed open her door.
The blonde haired woman, attempted to keep her tears in but they feel her from her eyes as she raced to inform the team of what happend.
The first person she saw was Derek. The tall man was laughing with Emily and JJ while Reid sat at his desk reading a book.
"Guyss!" She yelled effectively gaining the rooms attention, Derek turned smilies leaving his face when he saw the tears falling from his baby girls face.
He then held out his hands to stop the woman was colliding with him. "Woa woa, slow down baby girl" he tells her calmly.
Which didn't help her much. "Y/Nbeenskidnappedandisbeingauctionedonalivestream!" She yells tears falling from her eyes as she attempted to explain.
All she got was confused and concerned looks from her team, sighing she opened the laptop and turned it around towards the others.
"Y/Ns been kidnapped and is being auctioned off!" She yelled, everyone was in shock, Derek attempts to calm Penelope down while the others come up with a plan to save Y/N.
Y/N didn't know how many days had passed since he'd been kidnapped, the one thing that kept his spirits up was the thought of his Mum and how she'd never give up looking for him, along with the BAU who thought of the teen like family.
Back in Virginia Penelope and the BAU were closing in on The Collector's location. They had managed to infiltrate his chatroom and gather crucial information about his operation. With each passing moment, the tension grew, and the stakes became higher.
Finally, the day arrived when Penelope and thw team were ready to make their move. They stormed The Collector's hideout, guns blazing, and rescued the boys who had been held captive.
Y/N wasn't the only one who'd been kidnapped and held, many other smalls rooms with cameras where filled with boys Y/N age, the teen had been sleeping when he heard the door opening.
Scared it was the kidnapper Y/N tried to find something to defend himself but couldn't. "Y/N!" Yelled a familiar voice, the teen gasp at the voice.
"Uncle Derek!" He exclaimed, Derek grinned when the boy ran over to him, the man grabbed the boy into a hug. "Your olay kid, you safe now" he muttered comforting the teenager.
Once outside Y/N still hadn't let go of Derek, as they walked out the door Penelope yelled for Y/N when she saw he was safe in Derek's arms
"N/N!" the voice of his Mum made Y/N look up from Derek's shoudler, his young face lit up when he spotted his Mum.
"Mum!" He yelled, running and nearly knocking her over as he rushed into her arms. "My baby, your okay right right" she whsipers kissing his head and checking for injuries as she cried.
The end!
Hope you like this oneshot, sorry for the wait been busy with college work. Sorry for any grammar and Spelling mistakes.

Return of Bob
â CM; Penelope Garcia & teen!Enby!reader.
No warnings. Trying out the second person POV. Very short bc i thought this idea was funny when I started writing it a few months ago.
Just Penny being tired about a certain animal in the trash.
"R/N! Why is there a raccoon in my trashcan?" You could hear Penelope's shrill of a voice as she found the little friend you let inside the apartment the other night. Bob as you decided on calling it when you had found it a few nights ago, surely she thought bob had already been put outside from the last time you had shown it to her.
Oh, how wrong Penelope had been! And honestly, you were quite sure she'd catch on a lot sooner since the raccoon had been inside since last night.
Safe to say that wasn't the case, the raccoon peeked out if the indoor trash as it stared at the redhead with beady eyes. A small rattle of sounds coming out of it as you made your way to the scene. It felt like a standoff, Penelope looked surprised yet she couldn't seem to be angry as she looked up at you and pointed at Bob.
"Have you been letting it inside when I'm not home or something? Why is it still here??" She questioned you, eyes flickering between the animal in the trashcan and you, seemingly not impressed with what she was seeing. Tightly she ordered, her voice tense, "Take it outside, now! No buts!! Out!"
Nodding your little head as Penelope turned to leave the area, most likely to take a shower as she disappeared off to the bathroom's directions. Meanwhile that was happening, you walked up to the swiveling animal, it's round beady eyes staring up at you as it made a small hiss sound as Bob was picked up alongside the trashcan. It was easier to transport the animal in it than having it screeching at you while keeping a grip on the trashcan's corners and you weren't exactly interested in making much more noise than needed.
Walking outside with the trashcan then as you set the little guy down, tipping the can over to let it flump on the ground before shooing it away.

Boyfriend For The Night (Part 2) | Spencer Reid x Reader
Part 1, Finale!
Summary: After a few too many drinks, Spencer takes you back to your place, and you say something you might regret when you sober upâŚ
Tags: fluff, more pining idiots, BAU!Reader, Fem!Reader.
Warnings: Alcohol consumption
Words: 2.3k (whoopsie)
|
âReid is my boyfriend, for the night,â you smiled, taking a sip of your drink. It was, supposedly, just for the night, but Spencer liked the sound of that.
And, admittedly, so did you.
âJust for the night?â Morgan laughed, his bright, white smile teasing you two.
âWell, weâll see how he does and go from there,â you joked. Reid couldnât help but laugh a little at your comment.
âWell, I intend to impress,â he rubbed his thumb along the back of your hand, laughing under his breath while looking down at you. Penelope hit Morgan on the shoulder, drawing his attention toward Reidâs little look of love. He just laughed, turning back to his conversation with Hotch.
âThose two are so screwed.â
The night went on as one usually does. Some of the team split off into different games, dancing, or their own little conversations. You and Spencer were of the latter group.
âI canât explain WHY The Princess Bride is my favorite movie, it just is!â You feigned defensiveness, leaning into the seat behind you, laughing. âWhy donât your profile it out of me,â you smiled at Spencer. He laughed, taking a drink of his club soda.
âFine,â he set his drink down, turning to you. âI thinkâŚâ he leaned down, leveling his eyes with yours, glancing between both of your irises. âI think itâs probably because, ever since you were a child, youâve been escaping with fantasy,â he sat up. âIt would be safest to assume you identify with Buttercup, that you long for someone close to you to come sweep you off your feet and solve all your problems,â he narrowed his eyes. You looked gently up at him. âBut,â he sighed, leaning back. âKnowing you, Iâd say you like Westley,â he smiled. âYou grew up less wealthy and have worked your whole life to protect the people you love. Itâs a movie that makes you believe thereâs hope in the world,â he took a long sip of his drink.
Your jaw hung open in shock. âWhen did you learn so much about The Princess Bride,â you smiled, leaning your head on your hand.
âGarcia made me watch it,â he shrugged, laughing.
âOkay, fineâŚâ You took a sip of your drink, head spinning a little. âSo whatâs your favorite movie, then, hm?â
He didnât hesitate before responding, like he had clearly been wanting to talk about it. âLâage Dâor,â he spoke with his hands. âItâs a-a seminal surrealist film that was actually co-written by Salvador Dali,â he smiled wide. âIt used Daliâs classic absurd style and shocking imagery to critique the bourgeoisie and the Catholic Church. It, uh, was so controversial, actually, that it led to riots and bans,â he continued on about vignettes and taboos, but you just stared at him with a smile, eyes glazed over with pure adoration. Some time after he went on about Luis BuĂąuelâs other works, you realized you were absolutely whipped for this nerd.
You must have been off in la-la-land, because Reid got a little closer to you to get your attention. âAre you okay?â You snapped up.
âWhat, yeah, Iâm good,â you smiled, smoothing down your slacks. âIâm gonna get another drink,â you smiled nervously, standing up a little too quickly. You stumbled a little, causing Reid to reach out and steady you with his hands. Morgan noticed.
âHey, Pretty Girl, how many of those have you had?â He gestured to your glass.
âProbably too many,â you smiled half heartedly, realizing you were likely a little more than tipsy. You also started to notice how tightly Spencerâs hands steadied you. âItâs getting late, anyways, Iâll go call a cab,â you started to reach for your phone, but Spencer stepped in.
âHey, I donât think thatâs a good idea.â
âPretty Boy is right,â Morgan added. âSomeone should take you home.â
âGuys, Im an adult, I donât need a babysitter,â you laughed, speech slightly slurred. Yeah, you were definitely drunk.
âItâs fine, I can take her home,â Spencer gave a tight-lipped smile to Morgan. He turned to you, ignoring Morganâs small, concerned smirk. âItâs not safe to go home alone while inebriated,â he took his hands off of you, and you noticed how he flexed them a little. Interesting. You would have to analyze that in the morning, maybe when you werenât so intoxicated. He pulled his crossbody bag over himself and grabbed your hand, leading you from the booth. âIâm still your boyfriend, for the night,â he smiled.
You couldnât help but giggle at him.
âOkay, okay, whatever, pretty boy,â your hand tightened around his. The nickname felt different, coming from your lips, he thought. Somehow, it seemed like less of a nickname and more of an observation. He shook it off. âI donât live far from here, we can walk,â you spoke as you both stepped out of the bar, the biting cold air hitting your skin. You wrapped your arms around Spencerâs, his biceps wrapped up nicely by his cotton sweater. You smiled, and, you couldnât see it, but so did he.
âSounds good,â he barely squeaked out, just content to be settling into your touch.
The walk was peaceful, passing by a river or a park, street lights illuminating the sidewalk. They cast a warm glow on the night, shining in Spencerâs eyes, glimmering as he glanced down at you stumbling by his side. The breeze was slightly shielded by Spencerâs towering figure. He relished the feeling of your grip, a sense of security he didnât know he craved. And, for a moment, it really did feel like you two were a couple.
He helped you up the steps to you apartment. âSuch a gentleman,â you joked. He laughed lowly.
âIâm trying to make sure you donât eat concrete, but if youâd rather I didnât-â
âIâm kidding, iâm kidding~â you slurred out, pulling out your keys. It danced around the lock a few times, since your vision was blurred, but with some help from your temporary boyfriend, the door pushed open and you were met with the warmth of your apartment. You couldnât help but sigh, throwing yourself down on the couch. Spencer locked the door behind the two of you, watching you kick off your shoes.
âYou should take your contacts out before you fall asleep,â he put his bag down. âSleeping with them in can increase your risk of infection up to eight times,â he more than scurried over to your kitchen, filling you up a glass of water.
âSpeeence, thatâs so much work,â you threw a throw blanket around your arms.
âI know, sweetheart, but I donât want you coming in to work tomorrow with dry eyes and corneal damage,â he set the glass down on the coffee table, kneeling in front of you. You were so tired, you didnât notice the nickname. He didnât seem to, either. âCome on, you need to take them out,â he reached for your arm, taking a hold of your wrist. His voice was gentle, laced with a genuine concern, and his touch was reverent. As you looked down to where his sturdy hands held you, you realized, for a moment, how deeply you cared for him.
He knew alcohol made your inhibitions nonexistent, but he didnât expect you to start crying. âHey, hey, hey, whatâs wrong,â he grabbed the side of your face, wiping a tear off your cheek. His hands were just so soft, it made you tear up more.
âI-I donât know,â you sobbed out. You really didnât know.
âHey, itâs okay, drink this,â he handed you the glass of water. As you took a sip, he moved his hands to your knees, soothing small circles into them. âWhy are you sad?â
You sniffled, looking down at his face. His brows knitted together, eyes beaming up into your own. You could have SWORN you saw his heart beating against his sweater. âBecause I love you being my boyfriend, and Iâm tired of pretending I donât,â you were a little embarrassed, but you were drunk, so it barely mattered.
Spencerâs heart rate spiked, and a rosy tint started rising in his face. âYou donât mean that,â he soothed, voice just above a whisper.
âI do,â you looked straight into his eyes. They were glazed over in something you couldnât describe and probably never would.
âAccording to research, a-about 63% of people have admitted to saying something they regret while intoxicated,â he reasoned out, holding onto your hand.
âAnother study found that 54% of those confessions are things they genuinely feel, Spence,â he realized you clearly werenât out-of-it enough to not hit him with his own statistics. He couldnât speak, and he really couldnât think either. His adamâs apple bobbed as he swallowed hard, eyes dancing around your face. His heart jumped up and down as an innocent desire swept through his veins.
Did you really mean that? Was he not the only one who stole small glances in the bullpen? Was he not alone in his heartbreak when watching someone else flirt with you? Surely, this was a symptom of the alcohol. Maybe-
âItâs so hot in here,â you broke the silence, breaking away from him. He swallowed hard, eyes moving hesitantly away from your face.
âIâll uh, Iâll change your thermostat,â he stood up, moving towards the hall.
âThank you, Spence,â you lied down, sniffling once more.
He gave up on having you take out your contacts or change your clothes. He just spread another blanket over you, shutting off the lights. He even took the liberty of setting your alarm. Before he left, he heard you mumble a small, âGood night, Spence.â
He smiled, sighing.
âGood night.â
â
âHey, Pretty Girl, didnât have too much fun last night, did you?â Morgan laughed. He couldnât see you rolling your eyes under the sunglasses that shielded you from another migraine.
âHa-ha,â you set your stuff down. âThatâs me laughing at your funny joke.â
âHonestly, Iâm shocked you didnât show up with Boy Genius, this morning,â he crossed his arms. âLeaving together from the bar, going back to your place-â
âDerek, nothing happened,â you huffed. At least, you THOUGHT nothing happened. The events of the last twelve hours were an honest blur.
âOkay, okay, I yield,â he threw up his hands, going back to his own work. You turned to see Spencer walking in at about the same time.
He had replayed your words in his mind about a thousand times, maybe more. Did you really mean it when you said you loved having him as your boyfriend? Maybe you said that to every guy who took you home drunk. He thought going through all the possibilities would make it easier to face you, in the morning. He proved himself wrong.
You pulled off your glasses, standing up. As he sat down at his desk, you leaned over it.
âI wanted to say thank you for last night,â you spoke softly, not out of secret, but out of vulnerability.
âItâs no trouble,â he smiled. âI just wanted to make sure you got home safe,â he looked up at you, moving some files around his desk.
âI really, really appreciate it,â you spoke apologetically. âI wasnât too much⌠trouble, was I?â You smiled nervously. âWhen iâm inebriated, my inhibitions tend toâŚâ you trailed off, trying to find the words.
âDisappear?â He smiled, laughing a little.
âYeahâŚâ
âYou werenât any trouble,â he reassured you, voice steady. âActually, it was,â he smiled. âIt was nice.â
âNice?â you laughed, feeling your headache melt away at his soft voice.
âBeing able to take care of you,â he defended playfully. âI donât usually get to do that; itâs usually the other way around,â he tucked a strand of his hair behind his ear, looking up at your soft smile. âThere was something I wanted to talk about, thoughâŚâ Your heart skipped a beat.
âCrap, did I do something weird last night? Iâm so sorry, if I did, I never-â
âNo, no, nothing like that,â he laughed nervously. âYou uhmâŚâ he grabbed the back of his neck. He wanted to know if you really felt the same way he did. He wanted to know if you would hold his hand like that while sober. He wanted you. âWould you like to, maybe, get together sometime again?â He squeaked out, smiling shyly. âMaybe, this time, without the alcohol?â You smiled at his offer.
âI absolutely would, Spence,â you giggled out, tapping a nail habitually on the screen dividing your desks. He sighed a sigh of relief.
âCool,â he pursed his lips together in a smile.
âCool,â you mirrored him subconsciously.
Maybe it wasnât just for the night.
