Bonshaw Hills Provincial Park
It's May long weekend and our camper isn't quite ready for the season yet so we didn't get to spend our May long at a campground this year. Though we did hit up a Provincial Day park, we spent our Sunday afternoon at Bonshaw Hills Provincial Park in Bonshaw PEI.
This day park has a cute small wooden themed park with slides and swings! It also many trails to walk or mountain bike in.
After a quick play at the park our family went for an hour walk on the trails and got caught in the rain but I actually found it kind of fun walking in the rain!
My 14 year old and 7 year old both said that their favorite part of this park was leaving! (They were not to fond of being all wet!)
and
My favorite part was actually walking in the rain!

CAMPGROUND #21
Northlumberland Provincial Park
This past weekend we accomplished our 21st Prince Edward Island Campground which put us at the half way mark to camping at all PEI campgrounds!!
(I gave myself 10 years and this is year 5 so this puts me right on target!!)
We spent our half way mark weekend at Northlumberland Provincial Park Campground in Belle River, PEI.
We arrived at the campground around 6:30, we drove down a lane with some trees on both sides for about a minute before hitting the check-in kiosk.
We were directed to our site which was a short drive away. The campground is small but mighty with its beauty!
The kids were able to venture to the park as we set up since it was right across the site and the traffic was basically non exsiten.
Once we got settled we ate a very late supper and then headed to one of our camping buddies sites for a fire.
It started to rain on us but that didn't really stop us from the campfire fun!
The next morning we ventured out after breakfast for a walk with our friends who staying in one of the Cabins there! (The Cabins were small and cute with a bunk bed and couch that turns into a bed!)
The kids drove there bikes while we walked the whole campground with only seeing 2 cars on our route! Northlumberland Campground has many different sizes and types of sites! From open sites to treed in one's, to Cabins, 3-ways (50 amp & 30 Amp!), 2-ways and unserviced!
One thing that I thought that was really cool was that some of the tent sites has a place to park your car then you walked to a small little path to your site which had an amazing water view!
They also had 2 small playgrounds here for the kids, which both had swings and a slide!
After walking the campground we walked the beach! Northlumberland Campground has a beautiful sandy beach that would be awesome to spend the day at! (The soft sand, not the mud sand!)
You can also see Nova Scotia from here which is pretty cool and the ferry boats sailing by which is especially cool to see at night!
After our walk we relaxed at the campsite while the kids played at the park, it was great that we could still see them from our site!
We even got some amazing visitors to here! Some friends I haven't seen in a while due to covid!!
Before I knew it supper time was upon us! I have never had a camping day fly by so fast so I guess I was having a lot of fun!!
After supper we had our campfire and because it was by the water it was a bit chilly but worth it to see how pretty the ferry boat is driving by at night!
The next morning we had our breakfast and slowly packed up to go home!
My 12 year old said he didn't have favorite part from this campground.
My 5 year old said his favorite part was the park and the beach.
My husband says his favorite part was cleaning up after me! 🤣 (I'm pretty lucky to have such a good husband!)
My favorite part was the lack of traffic and being able to sit at my site while the kids played at the park. Also, the ferry boats, I loved watching the ferry boats cross back and forth all day!
Our family will definitely be back here again!

Chelton Provincial Park, Albany, PEI
When your camper breaks you settle for a Provincial day park instead of a campground
and since my sister in law is here from Ontario I thought it would be a great opportunity to hit up a day park I've never been to before either, so Chelton Provincial Park in Albany we drove to!
When we arrived it ended being pretty windy so the towels on the sand where a better option then our chairs, thankfully it's more of a packed sand so we were not getting sand blasted. We dipped our toes in the water and the water was very warm!
The view of the bridge was so pretty to look at!
They also had a small playground here with swings and a big playslide.
Showers and bathrooms are also on site which is always a nice option to have.
Definitely a great spot to pack a picnic and stay the day.
My favorite part of this park was the view of the bridge.
My 6 year old said his favorite part was splashing his auntie in the water.
And...
My sister in law said her favorite part was putting her toes in the
Water!

Tranquilty By The Sea
Campground #23
It's the first long weekend of the summer and of course we are spending it camping. This weekends Campground of choice is Tranquility by the Sea in North Rustico. We almost canceled when we heard a PEI rumor that it is a nudist resort but after speaking with the owner he confirmed it is no longer a nudist resort and is in fact a Family Campground!
I arrived a little after 7, just after my husband finished setting up and we were in a treed in pull thru site! (Which was such a nice surprise since we haven't had many treed in sites since we upgraded from our tent!)
My in laws had arrived earlier today and had supper ready for us upon arrival.
After supper we went for a walk to the park where my 6 year played for a bit. Then we went back to our site for a Campfire.
The next morning we actually all slept in until about 9:30, which was so nice because we haven't done that in a while!
My husband made us a nice big breakfast and we slowly got ready for the day.
My youngest wanted to go the park after breakfast so we took a walk down to the park where he played for a bit. The park was small but my 6 year old enjoyed it until he decided he wanted to go to the pool.
We went back to our camper to get ready for the pool and when we went up we were the only ones there. We even got to meet the owners of the campground and they are super sweet and want everyone to know that this is a family Campground, NOT a nudist resort! 🤣
We spent a few hours at the pool then went to play some of the games they had behind it, which was every kind of camping game you could imagine! (Bean bags, ring toss, ping pong. Etc)
After playing with those games for a bit we came back to our site and played with the T-ball set our 6 year old got for Christmas and my husband made some supper.
After supper we had a Campfire and before we knew it, it was time for bed.
The next morning we woke up a little earlier, around 8:30 and I sat outside enjoying a cup of coffee in the sunshine without any mosquitoes! (Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that! They spray here so the bugs are not bad at all!!)
We then ate some breakfast and very slowly got ready for the day. Once we were ready for the day the weather took a turn and it started pouring with a few thunder claps! Thankfully we are really glampers and we just sat under the awning listening to rain while the kids watched a movie in the camper.
I soon went for an afternoon nap, there is nothing like having a nap in a camper while the rain hits the tin!
The rain eventually did stop and my 6 year old wanted one more play time at the park then it cleared up enough so we were able to have a Campfire!
The next morning our family slept in once again until 9:30 but check out is 12! (Not many campgrounds have a late checkout like this so it was nice not to rush)
My favorite part of this Campground is the sites, I love treed in sites and we haven't been in one since we were tenters.
My husband's favorite part was that the sites were treed in and how nice the owners were.
My 13 year olds favorite part was playing washer toss with his dad.
My 6 year olds favorite part was the park.
This Campground is a very quiet Campground with very little mosquitos and right in between North Rustico & Cavendish. (Perfect location if wanting to tour those areas) The bathrooms are also very clean and the owners were super nice. Campground #23

Bayside Travel Park
Campground #20
It's a long weekend on PEI and we are doing what our family enjoys doing most! Camping! We are on our 20th Prince Edward Island Campground!
Bayside Campground in Oyster Bed is where we spent our weekend.
Even though, it is a long weekend we had some appointments in our day so we didn't get to the campground till around 4:30. We are also tenting this trip as my husband is working and I don't feel comfortable enough to drive a truck with a fifth wheel hooked on to it.
(When I called and booked the owners were so sweet and said that they would put me right across from the park so I could stay at my site and relax if my children wanted to take off to the park!)
We got our campsite set up in about an hour, it was pretty hot yet windy so it took me longer then I felt it
should have because of my hair blowing in my face every five seconds and the sweat pouring off of me! Once we got our site all set up, we definitely did some cheating and went to Big Mommas for supper.
(I actually planned on doing this all along though as they have the best fries with works I have ever had on PEI and have been waiting all summer to get there for some!)
After supper, we ran into my brother who is seasonal at this campground and we had a drink together and went for a walk around the campground!
(He didn't know I was coming so it was a surprise for him to see me there!)
After the walk I went back to my site and chilled for a bit with the kids then let them watch a movie in the tent. (We had our laptop there and used the campgrounds wifi and the kids were able to watch Netflix without any problems at all!)
After breakfast the next morning, the boys and I went for a walk around the campground. It is a small quiet very clean campground. The 2W and 3W sites were a fair size, they also have lots of seasonal people here who seem to be like a community. (I felt very safe camping here in a tent with the kids by myself!) They also had a gorgeous area for playing horse shoes, a beautiful pool set up, small playground with swings and a small store that sold your basics like ice, firewood and chips!
After our walk the kids wanted to go to the pool they had just peeked at so we got ready and headed there. The pool temperature was cold at first but not to bad once you got used to it. It was also beautifully laid out, with relaxing chairs on the sides and even a few shelters around. It wasn't very busy and lots of places to lounge around it ( definitely a place where I would enjoy lounging around all day!)
When we were done the pool we headed back to our site for some lunch! Then after that we headed to a beach with my brother and his kids that was a short drive away!
We spent a few hours there and then as soon as we got back the kids wanted to go back to the pool so we did!
(We were in the pool until supper time!)
After supper we started an early campfire, the store even gave me paper and kindling to start my fire! (This is the first time that paper and kindling have been provided from any campground I've been to. Usually it is just the wood!)
I spent the evening around the campfire with my boys and playing with glow sticks until they were ready for bed!
As soon as we woke up Sunday morning we packed up our site and headed home. We were definitely all a little more tired after tenting for a weekend then we are when we have our trailor!
This campground is a small, quiet campground that is very clean and has a community vibe.
It is beside the Oyster Bed Speedway so if you don't like that noise I would suggest to go on a weekend with no races! (There was some when we were there but apparently the wind was going the right direction so it wasn't to bad. We only heard the cars every once in a while.)
My 12 year old said his favorite thing was the pool!
My 5 year old said his favorite thing was the pool and playing with the glowsticks!
My favorite part was the how relaxing the pool area and also that there was NO MOSQUITOES!
I would probably come back here for a weekend!

Sally's Beach Provincial Park
This afternoon our family decided to try out a Provincial Park that we have never been to before!
So, we packed our beach stuff and headed out to Sally's Beach Provincial Park in Spry Point, PEI.
This is an unsupervised day use Provincial Park with a beautiful beach and tiny park, (literally just a slide and swings). It is very well kept though and a great way to spend the day.
We spend a couple hours on the beach with hardly anyone else around us! It was so beautiful and peaceful, it was even the nice soft white sand!
After a couple hours of exploring the water, the sand, and relaxing on the beach we went up to the small park.
They boys played on the slide and swings for a bit before we packed up to head home.
My 5 year old said his favorite park was the park.
My 12 year old said his favorite hanging out at the beach.
(Though he wished he had brought some chips 😆)
My favorite part was relaxing on the beach and laughing with my family.
I would definitely come here again, it would be a great place for a family picnic or just to have a beach day!
It even had big, clean bathrooms!

Arygle Shore Provincial Park
Last week was my vacation and of course it rained almost the whole time so our camping trip got cut a little bit short. However, on my last day of vaction the sun decided to shine so the boys and I headed out to Arygle Shore Provincial Park with some friends. (This is a Day Park, not a campground) but it is a really beautiful spot!
They had a two small areas for children, one on each side of the parking lot. The kids enjoyed playing at the newer park for a bit. We had a nice little picnic on the picnic table that was at the park and my friend and I were able to catch up while the boys played.
After we finished our lunch we headed down to the beach and it was beautiful! It wasn't the singing sands kind of beach but it was still very pretty. There was even a water coming down the cliff! The water from the water fall was freezing but the beach water was very warm. (And trust me I do not call water warm lightly!)
I will definitely come back to this day Park and think it would be a great place to spend your day, have a picnic and spend time with your friends and family.
My 5 year old says his favorite part was the waterfall.
And My 12 year old said he didn't have a favorite part.
And My favorite was how warm the water was!
And also, on the way out I saw a new campground to add to my list
Arygle Shore Waterview Cottages and Campground.

CNG Country Cabins and Campground
Campground #17
We just spent our weekend celebrating my upcoming birthday at our 17th PEI campground; CNG Country Cabins and Campground in Brackley, PEI.
We arrived to this campground a bit before supper time on Friday evening, our first impression of our site was that it was kind of small but one of the parks was right behind us so the kids definitely loved that! Once we got all set up we had some supper and for the first time since we started camping this season we ate inside the camper since it was so cold outside! Though, not cold enough to stop us from having a campfire! The quiet time is 11 here and fires are suppose to be out then too, we went a little longer then this but no body came down and said anything to us!
On Saturday morning we lazed around our camper for most of it and ate some delicious Borrowed Kitchen bakery goods for breakfast! Around 11 we decided we should go for a walk and check out the campground and petting farm!
Our walk around the campground itself didn't take very long as it is not a big campground at all, in fact this is actually the first year they are even a campground, they have cottages before but just added the campground this year! (Apparently if the campground part does well they may expand on that part!) On our walk we saw they had 3 different playground areas, just little parks but they were very appropriate for my 4 year old and they had a big tree house that even I went inside and it was pretty cool! They also have a small outdoor pool and get this....a large indoor pool! After exploring the parks we found the animals and they were all so friendly! You could tell these animals (the mini horse, the pig, the goat, the rabbits and the 4 large horses) were loved and well taken care of by their owners! We probably spent a good chunk of our afternoon just admiring the animals and petting them!
After our exploring we went make to our campsite for some lunch. After our lunch the kids wanted to try the pool. It was a cold fall day so we were all happy and thankful that this place had a indoor pool. When we arrived at the pool we saw it was very big length wise and it was so warm! My husband, myself and our two youngest boys spent most of our afternoon swimming in this amazingly warm nice indoor pool!
After swim time we froze walking back to our camper 🤣, changed into our nice warm clothing, had supper and started our evening campfire!
This weekend was also my early Birthday Celebrations so we listened to the hoe down around the campfire with the boys grandparents (who were camping next to us for the weekend!)
*My husband did request a Happy Birthday shout out to CFCY but unfortunately Darren Macpherson didn't pass the message on*
We sat around the fire until a little after 12 or so! (Again, fires are suppose to out by 11 but maybe since we were quiet enough that no one came to say anything!)
The next morning we didn't wake up until 9 and check out is 10am! So we packed up pretty much as soon as we woke up. We were a bit pass 10 getting out there but no one said anything to us about that!
I liked this campground for this time of the year because of the indoor pool option and want to try it again in a few more years when they add more campsites to it!
My 11 year old said his favorite part of this campground was the indoor pool.
My 4 year old said his favorite part was the miniature horse.
My favorite part would be the indoor pool also and the fact the park was right behind us!
If you like to party and be loud while you are camping then this is definitely not the campground for you!
This is a small quiet family friendly type of campground and the traffic here was also nonexistent! (After seeing the animals and even before we hit the pool my 11 year old actually said to me "We are definitely coming back here next year"...he seems to like the smaller, quieter campgrounds so from now on I may refer to the small, quiet ones as a "Carter Campground")
I think campground would be perfect for a tourist with a family who is looking for a quiet place to have as your "home base". (The cottages also seemed liked they were reasonably priced!)

Cymbria Campground
Campground #14
We just finished our weekend camping at our 14th Prince Edward Island Campground since we started our journey to try all of Prince Edward Islands Campgrounds. Our 14th campground was Cymbria Campground in New Glasgow, PEI.
We arrived late Friday night as both my husband and I had to work till about 5:30. We probably ended up at the campground around 7:30 or so. When I checked in they had amazing Covid protocols in place and hand sanitizer everywhere you would need it!
When we pulled into our site we were amazed at how big and fairly private the sites where, even the 3-way sites!
The boys grandparents were also camping there this weekend and had already arrived and were right beside us. Once we got all set up we ate a very late supper of hamburgers and salad. My 11 year old and 4 year old must have been exhausted as they wanted to go to bed before we even had the campfire.
The campground was very quiet Friday evening as we sat around our campfire and enjoyed some drinks and laughs. (This is a very quiet campground, radios and guitars are to be put away at 11pm as not to disturb others and your fire is to be put out at 1am with water, which they have a tap and buckets for right across from our site.)
The next morning we awoke and some delicious breakfast and then went for our campground walk. It is a small, quiet, pretty, clean campground with amazing looking sites. The tree lined sites are my favorite kind because it gives you so much more privacy. If you are tenting and looking for a quiet weekend camping I would strongly suggest this campground for you. During our walk we also went across the street to a path that lead us to a beach, apparently this beach is great for clam digging, kayaking or canoeing. (If you have your own).
The campground also has a rec hall and mini golf course but it was closed this year due to Covid but hopefully this whole covid thing will be over by the time we return!
After our walk the sun was getting pretty hot and we were all sweating so the kids of course wanted to go into the pool.
The pool was your average looking campground pool, it is a heated pool but cold at first (though like I said before I'm a bit of baby when it comes to cold...I love to be hot!) but you do turn warm fairly quickly. It was actually very refreshing on such a hot day!
After our swim we returned to our campsite and the kids went to the park which was right across from our site, I absolutely love that they try to put those with kids right across from the park. It is also really cool how they have the tent sites on one whole side of the campground and the 3 ways on the other with the park in the middle!
That night my husband had to go into work, (part of the reason we picked this one for this weekend was because it was close enough to Charlottetown for him to go to work Saturday night). When we went to work my 4 year old and I went for another walk and saw a cat on a leash camping, we always bring our dog when we go but he now wants to bring our cat along too! After our walk we went back for a campfire and the kids told us some stories this time, (like how not to talk to their mom before she has a coffee 😐). When my husband returned from work he brought with him some pizza, so we enjoyed some Dinos Pizza around the campfire and it was pretty good!
The next day we woke up to rain and had some breakfast under the awning before we packed everything up to go home.
The speed limit at this campground is only 10 and they make sure you follow it, there was also very little traffic on the go, and if you have read any previous blogs of mine you know this is always one of my favorite things!
This campground is a great place to go if you are looking for a quiet, fairly private place to camp. Especially if you are tenting! (I absolutely loved the way the tent sites were!).
My 11 year old said his favorite part of this campground was the pool.
My 4 year old said his favorite part of this camping trip was throwing apples. (There were crab apples in a tree behind his grandparents site that he was throwing into a safe place).
My favorite part was definitely the private sites.
This is definitely not a campground for those who like to be loud late into the night but is for sure one for those looking for a quiet weekend at a campground.
I could see us coming back here again but maybe when Covid is over so my 11 year old can have a little more offered for him, like the games in the rec hall and the mini golf course!

Sunset Campground
Campground #12
We just camped at our 12th Prince Edward Island Campground! This weekend was spent at Sunset Campground in Cavendish, PEI.
We arrived right before supper and my husband had our trailer set up in no time at all! (This is our first year with a camper so it's been a little extra exciting for us!)
Our site was in a corner lot which was awesome because I find you loose a lot more of the private looking sites once you get a trailer!
They were also planting trees around the site while we were there so eventually it will be even more private! This is a very big campground and clean, the staff seemed very busy keeping the campground updated.
After we had a quick supper we explored the park which was right across from our site. The "big" park was amazing. My 4 year old was just in "awww" when he saw it and to be honest so was I! Unfortunately, there was a sign saying "children only on playset no adults" so I couldn't go play on it but the kids sure did like it! The playset was appropriate for both my 4 year old and my 11 year old. Around this area they also had swings, an older playset, a mini golf, the pool, rec hall and even large outdoor games like bowling and volleyball!!
They even had a space for playing basketball, ball hockey and badminton! Definitely a park for any age group!!
After exploring the park we enjoyed a campfire. They allowed you to have visitors on site too, you just had to sign in at the office because of this whole Covid thing happening! I'm not sure what time quiet time is but I dont think they would come and tell you to shut it down if you weren't bothering others around you!
Late Saturday morning my 4 year old and I took a walk around half the campground, it really is a huge space. They seemed to have many different kind of sites available from opened ones to ones that have more trees around it and many different areas to the campground. They had smaller playgrounds too, swings mostly around the other areas as well and the main park.
Later in the afternoon when the sun finally decided it was going to come out. We headed to the pool, you had to sign and it was limited because of Covid-19 but the employee working there did amazing at making sure all the protocols were followed! The pool water was warm once you got used to it (if you aren't a baby about cold like me then you would probably find this pool warm right away 🤣). The pool was also divided into 3 areas, shallow, medium, and deep so that was pretty neat. Definitely helps with different age groups enjoying the pool.
After the pool we just chilled out on our site. I found all the employees here super friendly and always seemed to be willing to help if you needed it!
After supper we went for another walk, this time the whole family. We ended up at the Cavendish boardwalk and played at the arcade there for a bit! My 4 year old got lucky on a machine and won 2 bee teddies in one go!! (The sweet heart gave one to his buddy that was also camping with us!) It was pretty cool that you could get to the boardwalk without having to actually leave the campground!
After our arcade adventures we headed back to the campsite for pajamas and drinks around the fire!
Our family has really learned to sleep in during this whole Covid thing so we didn't wake up until 9:30 Sunday morning and check out was 11. (Though an employee told me if you call down to the office and wanted a late check out they would do it for you as long as no one was going to your spot any time soon!) We managed to get packed up before 11 though!
I would definitely camp at this campground again, my only complaint is that a lot of cars didn't seem to obey the speed limit and were driving a little fast for my liking.
My four year old said his favorite part of Sunset Campground was everything.
My eleven year old said his favorite part of Sunset Campground was the pool. (Oh, What a surprise!)
My husband said his favorite part was doing nothing all weekend long.
&
My favorite part was that it has something to offer for children of all ages.
I would recommend this campground for anyone that wanted to do the Cavendish tourist thing and if you are like me and have children that are very spaced out in age and like different things! It is also a dog friendly campground (as long as they are on a leash and you pick up after them!) I also didn't find the bugs too bad but they did come out every once in a while!
Like I said I would definitely camp here again! Though maybe next time I will bring my bike too because I know I didn't even explore all the campground with it being so big! I just hope the cars learn to slow down before I'm back!
