Emmett Cullen
The rain pattered gently against the windowpane, a soft symphony that filled the air of the Cullen home. Outside, the usual gray skies of Forks loomed heavy, but inside the grand house, there was a warmth that belied the chill.
You peered nervously around the spacious living room, your heart fluttering like a caged bird. Today was the day you would meet Emmett’s family, the infamous Cullens—and you had no idea what to expect.
Emmett stood beside you, his muscular arm brushed against yours as if to anchor you to the moment. He flashed you that charming, toothy grin that made your heart race. His presence exuded both strength and warmth, and his laughter had a sweetness that lulled your anxiety.
“Relax, babe! They’re going to love you.”
He reassured, leaning down to plant a soft kiss on your forehead.
“And trust me, Rosalie already likes you, it’s basically a done deal.”
Emmett’s sister Rosalie was known for her beauty and a no-nonsense attitude, but you had already connected with her through brief conversations.
The way she cooed and fawned over your one-year-old—gently combing her fingers through the tiny baby’s hair—revealed a softer side that you found enchanting.
As you waited, the door creaked open, allowing a shadow to spill into the room. Alice bounded in, her petite figure a whirl of energy. She spotted you immediately and squealed with delight.
“There she is! The beautiful human who stole my brother’s heart!”
Alice exclaimed, her voice like bells. She rushed over, enveloping you in a warm hug before stepping back to take you in.
“And look at your little one!”
With a gleeful shriek, she turned her attention to the baby nestled in your arms, her dark eyes glinting with affection.
“Oh, I need to buy her ALL the outfits! Wait I think mom has something from when I was a baby-”
She declared, her hands already reaching for imaginary fabric swatches as she dove into fashion fantasies.
You couldn’t help but laugh at Alice’s enthusiasm. Her excitement was contagious, your anxiety slowly melting away.
“She has enough clothes, but thank you so much.”
You chided playfully, cradling your baby closer.
Just then, Rosalie entered with a soft breeze, her presence immediately commanding attention. She glided across the room, all grace and poise. But when she reached your side, her demeanor softened, and you felt her genuine warmth.
“Hello dear, wow you look so beautiful today”
Rosalie cooed, glancing up at you with sincerity in her eyes.
You smiled and felt your cheeks flush.
“Thank you, Rosalie.”
Her approval meant the world, and you could see why Emmett adored her.
As more of the Cullen clan trickled in, including Carlisle, Edward, Jasper and Esme with their welcoming smiles, the atmosphere of camaraderie enveloped you.
Each member of the family shared little quirks that made you feel like a part of their peculiar world.
With every passing moment, laughter filled the air. You told stories about your life as Emmett teased you in affectionate ways, giving his siblings a glimpse into the human experience you cherished.
The living room transformed into a cozy hub of shared laughter and warm glances. Rosalie, who had perched next to you with your baby on her lap, regaled everyone with tales of motherhood that you had never imagined coming from her.
Alice was right there, capturing every precious moment with a quick snap of her camera, while Jasper stood off to the side, content to absorb the joy around him with a smile.
“Let me tell you, taking care of a little one is like preparing for a battle. They have these tiny weapons called tantrums.”
Rosalie said with a mock seriousness, sending everyone into fits of laughter again.
You chuckled, sharing in the warmth of the moment. As you looked around, you felt an overwhelming sense of belonging rush over you. This strange family, these vampires who moved in shadows and light, felt closer than you ever imagined they could.
Suddenly, Emmett cleared his throat dramatically, silencing the room.
“I propose a toast-”
He declared, lifting an imaginary glass.
“To my gorgeous girlfriend and her equally adorable daughter! May they both shine brighter than the sun!”
You blushed, glancing down at your baby who giggled at her father’s antics, her laughter harmonious with the family’s supportive cheers. Each member followed suit, sharing warm sentiments about you, a flood of love that made your heart swell.
As the evening wore on, you caught moments of quiet intimacy with Emmett. He would sneak in small kisses and whispered compliments, adding to the warmth bubbling inside you.
“Can you believe this is really happening?”
He murmured, leaning close.
“You’re amazing, you know that? I can’t wait for more days like this.”
His words filled you with joy, and as you gazed into his loving eyes, you felt a connection that seemed to penetrate the boundaries of time and space.
Later, when the rain poured harder outside, creating a soothing cadence against the windows, Alice cornered you again, her playful demeanor ever-present.
“I think Rosalie and I should take you shopping tomorrow—after all, you and your baby need to be the best-dressed in Forks!”
You grinned at the idea, the thought of spending time with Alice and Rosalie bringing you a sense of eagerness.
“That sounds like a lot of fun!”
As the night concluded, you felt enveloped in comfort, the weight of the world slipping away. You looked around at the family who had welcomed you with open arms and felt grateful in every sense.
Outside, the rain began to taper off, and a sliver of moonlight broke through the clouds, casting a soft glow on the house. You realized that this was just the beginning of an incredible journey, one that would intertwine your life with Emmett's and his beautiful family—a tapestry woven in love, laughter, and a tiny bit of chaos.
With a smile on your face and warmth in your heart, you knew you had found your place in this twilight realm—forever cherished in the embrace of love and family.
This one was pure fluff and family love! I adore soft Cullens, that's way too pure for my soul TwT
I hope y'all liked this one ^^
Don’t forget, requests are always open and I can write for any character you’d like!

Crush
Yandere cullens x reader
Tw- gore, death, reader being abused, sick family dynamics, animal death
You trailed behind Jasper as he grasped your cold hand. He had always felt the need to hold your hand in busy hallways, it made him feel better. You were about to yank your hand away but your mood flipped like a switch and an idiotic smile forced its way on your lips
He always did this, whenever you felt uncomfortable he would make your mood more convenient for him.
You snapped out of it when you were bumped into by a distracted walker, she smiles apologetically and walks away while Jasper glares daggers at her. You yank your hand away and he looks confused
“I have chemistry now” you remind him “you have p.e your going the opposite direction”
“Can’t you just skip?” Jasper asks annoyed as emmet joins him and puts an arm around you
“Yeah little sis, come join us” emmet tries to convince you but you just shake your head
“Last time I did that, neither one of you defended me when Carlisle scolded me” you sighed out as you separated yourself from them
“(Y/n)” emmet calls your name and you turn your head “behave yourself, little sis”
You nodded and made your way to your class. As you stepped through the doors you noticed someone sitting in the seat next to yours.
He was a short boy with brown curly hair, he saw you and pulled a small, polite smile.
“Hey there” he greets you as you sit down “you must be my new lab partner, I’m Brad”
“(Y/n)” you greet politely and shake his hand before turning away and looking at the board
“You always sit with the cullens kids, your their sister right?” He asks and you just nod “you don’t talk much, huh?”
You shake your head. You don’t want this boy to die all because you engaged in polite small talk. You feel him moving and hear him scribbling. You don’t pay attention to him until half an hour into the lesson he tugs in your sleeve.
You turn to see a small sketch of a baby deer on the inside of brads work book. You look at him curious and find the paper to be dedicated to you. You turn your head and he just gives you a cheeky smile.
“Because of your eyes” he explains playfully “you remind me of a deer”
You blush red and hide your face from his peering gaze. He rips the page and grabs your hand before placing the paper in your palm. Your heart would have beat at the contact
“Thank you” you say flustered while he just chuckles
You try and listen to the teacher but all you can listen to is brads heartbeat increasing every time you looked at him, he was nervous too.
As the bell rang you rose from your seat but Brad takes your bag in his hands. You look at him but he just takes your hand and leads you out the classroom. As you exit the classroom your hand remains in his.
“I’ll walk you to lunch” he says as he nudges you with his shoulder “you can keep chatting my ear off”
You let out a small giggle and he gives an exaggerated shocked gasp
“She laughs” he says shocked “it’s a miracle”
“Shut up” you replied back playfully as you kept walking “so what’s the plan, woo me over a lukewarm lunch meal?”
“Who says I’m wooing you” he questions playfully “maybe your the one seducing me? With your big eyes and complete silence? Who could resist”
You let out a loud laugh but you catch yourself as you see the entrance to the lunch hall. You let go of brads hand and walk away but to your dismay he follows you, thinking it’s a game.
You approach your siblings at your usual table and they smile at you, all except Edward. He was too focused on someone behind you.
“Hey, you” he shouts to Brad who was looking like a lost puppy “come sit with us”
“What are you doing?!” Rosalie hissed out as she pulled you down to your chair before you could wave Brad away “why are you inviting a human over”
“Seems like our baby sister has a crush” Edward answers darkly “we should at least get to know the guy”
Brad sits down next to you and Rosalie pulls your chair closer to her passive aggressively. You shoot brad a pleading look to walk away but he didn’t understand, everyone at the table glares at him
“What’s your name kid?” Jasper asks with a cruel smirk
“Brad” he answers while looking at you with a smile “I’m surprised this one hasn’t told you, she’s a real chatterbox”
“He’s joking” you defend yourself fearfully at the thought of them telling Carlisle that you talked to humans
“So Brad” Edward leans closer with a menacing look “your gonna switch chemistry classes”
“Why would I do that?” Brad says confused
“Because we all don’t trust you with our little sister” emmet answers while cracking his knuckles
“It’s not like you’d ever be good enough for her anyway” Rosalie says disgusted “she’s too precious for you to even talk too”
“Fuck you” Brad seethed out as he rose from his chair and stormed off
“Why would you do that?!” You question angrily “he was a nice guy and you all sat here and mocked him”
“Behave sis, you wouldn’t want to get punished” emmet threatened
You look to the exit and make your thoughts known before turning to them
“You can’t do anything here” is all you said before you stormed off to find Brad, your siblings wanted to punish you but it was way to public
They would get you later.
———————————————————————
“Brad!” You called after him when you saw Brad emerge from the library
“Go away (y/n)” was all he said as he kept walking
“I’m so sorry Brad” you apologised and he turned to you with an angry expression “I tried to stop them”
“Fucking incest freaks” he spits out as he continues to walk away “they’re brother fuckers and they judge me?”
“I’m so so sorry” you apologised again with your head down
“Its not your fault” he sighs out “why are they so weird with you?”
“I don’t know” you admitted and he put his hand on your shoulder, you blush slightly
“I’ve gotta get to gym” he says with a smile “I’ll see you around chatterbox”
You nod and smile sadly while watching him leave. Your first ever crush and your family couldn’t even let you enjoy it for more than an hour.
———————————————————————
There’s a knock on your locked bedroom door. You look confused before Carlisle emerges from the other side.
You back away and go into the corner of the room out of fear. Your arms instinctively put your arms over your face defensively. Carlisle sighs and goes to your corner before crouching
“Sweet girl, don’t be afraid” you flinch when he caress your cheek “I’ve brought you a gift”
You look at him with fearful curiosity as he grabs your hand and pulls you up. He forces his arm over you shoulder and drags you to the kitchen
You see Brad sat at the counter with his arms tied behind his back with thick rope and a gag in his mouth.
“We’ve brought your friend home for dinner” Alice says gleefully as she puts her hand on his shoulders with her nails sticking in
“You’ve been a bad girl (y/n)” esme says as she emerges from the living room with a disappointed frown “talking to humans is against the rules”
“I won’t do it again I promise” you cry out as you go to Brad and watch him struggle against his restraints “let him go, it’s not his fault”
“He’s corrupted you” Edward slams his fist on the counter and breaks it “all he thought about when he was with you was your body, why would he be interested in you beyond that”
“It’s not like you give enough conversations to the humans to like you for your charming personality” emmet snickers out cruelly as they all tainted you
Brad furiously shook his head in disagreement as you put your head down in shame and embarrassment.
“Shall we get the entertainment” Alice squeals out while she claps her hand excitedly
They all pull you and Brad through to the living room. They forcefully pull you to the couch and sit around you but Brad is forced onto a seat in the centre of the room.
“First up” Edward announces “your punishment”
Emmet comes through with a beautiful little Robin. You knew this bird, you had connected with this bird through your power to ask it to sing for you. They knew that and you knew what came next.
You felt your connection with the bird force it’s way to the surface as it felt like your soul intertwined with its.
“You know what happens now” Carlisle sighs out as he takes the small bird in the palm of his hands, you feel the birds fear and anxiousness as tears well up in your eyes
Carlisle slowly uses his strength to crush the bird and you yell in agony. Your neck feels as though it’s the one being crushed as your head feels pulses of pain expand from your brain. As the bird lets out it’s last breath your neck forces a sigh and you feel devoid of breath even if you didn’t need to breath.
Rosalie pulls you face to lean on her shoulder while you grip your throat in pain. The pain eventually leaves but the birds dead body is left on the coffee table
“It’s okay baby” Rosalie shush’s “it’s gone now”
You cry harder and Brad looks at you terrified and confused. They pull him to face you before emmet goes behind him
“Baby sis’s first crush” Emmett laughs out as he puts his hands on brads shoulders “get a picture Alice”
The flash on Alice’s camera shocks you and Brad as you rub your eyes. The photo comes out and Alice sighs affectionately while putting it in your ‘scrap book’
Before you realise what’s happening, you see Emmett’s hands go on the side of brads face and he begins to press. Brad screams in agony as his head is slowly compressed, blood spurts out onto your face when his face is flattened. Small pieces of brain matter landed on your face as Rosalie pulls out a napkin and wipes your face gently.
“Smile sis” Alice says as the camera flashes on your shocked, terrified face.
Alice sticks the photo in the scrap book with “baby sis first ‘crush’” with crush in air quotations. You look at your face on the photo and then hear your families cruel, mocking laughter
They treat the situation as a party and dance around while laughing. You look at brads body and clutch the drawing he gave you in your pocket.
You make eye contact with Carlisle who just smirks and then Edward steps in front of you and smiles cruelly. One thought springs to mind
I need to get the fuck out of here
Hope you enjoyed :)
Love ya ❤️

I don’t know wether you do gender neutral readers or not, but I was thinking something with gn!mermaid!reader x Carlisle where they’ve never actually met a human or even a vampire and they see him and immediately become infatuated with him. 🥺 If you can’t do gn then you can switch it to female.
Ahhh you’re a new follower! And yes I do do gender neutral readers. I do the usual fem and male readers too, gender neutral, i do LGBTQ+ as well and even go far as to give the reader a specific race if requested, for an example : x alien reader, x poc reader, x Asian American reader etc. I have no limits
❝forget me not❞
✭ pairing : Carlisle Cullen x gender neutral reader
✭ fandom : twilight x reader
✭ summary : (y/n) is a mermaid who enjoys watching humans from afar but when they discovers the person they’ve been recently watching isn’t a human but a vampire, oh now their obsessed with learning more
✭ authors note : this was a really cute idea
✭ twilight masterlist
The lake sparkled under the warm rays of the sun, its tranquil waters hiding a secret world beneath its surface. In its depths, (Y/N), a mermaid, resided, their iridescent scales reflecting the vibrant colors of their underwater realm. They had spent their entire existence in this secluded lake, unaware of the existence of humans or even vampires.
From the safety of their aquatic home, (Y/N) would often observe the land-dwellers from afar, their curiosity piqued by the bustling activities on the shore. They watched with wide-eyed wonder as families played, lovers strolled hand-in-hand, and children built sandcastles. Every interaction fascinated them, but they were content to remain hidden, merely an observer of the human world.
One day, as (Y/N) peered through the crystal-clear waters, they noticed a figure unlike any they had ever seen before. Tall and elegant, with a distinct aura of mystery surrounding them, the stranger stood on the edge of the lake, gazing out into the vastness of the ocean.
As (Y/N)'s eyes met those of the enigmatic figure, their heart skipped a beat. The stranger, named Carlisle, possessed an otherworldly charm that set him apart from any human. His pale skin seemed to shimmer in the sunlight, and his eyes held a depth that mirrored the secrets of the ocean itself.
In that moment, (Y/N) realized that Carlisle was no ordinary human. A surge of excitement coursed through their veins as they contemplated what he could be. Their infatuation with him grew stronger with each passing second, and they yearned to know more about this captivating creature.
Determined to unravel the mystery that surrounded Carlisle, (Y/N) swam closer to the lake's surface, their eyes fixed on him. They watched as he gracefully walked along the shore, his every movement captivating. (Y/N) couldn't help but wonder what lay beyond his enigmatic exterior.
With every passing day, (Y/N) found themselves unable to tear their gaze away from Carlisle. They studied his habits, his expressions, and his interactions with others, trying to understand the essence of his being. They yearned to swim by his side, to listen to the sound of his voice, and to discover the secrets that lay hidden within him.
However, it wasn't until one fateful evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, that (Y/N) finally summoned the courage to approach Carlisle. Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a longing for connection, they emerged from the water, their tail transforming into legs as they stepped onto the shore.
As (Y/N) cautiously approached Carlisle, their heart pounded with anticipation. They couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement and nervousness, knowing that their lives were about to change forever. With a gentle smile, they took a deep breath and spoke, hoping to unlock the mystery of the mesmerizing creature before them.
"Hello," they said softly, "I have watched you from afar, and I am consumed by a desire to know more about you. Who are you? What lies beneath the surface of your captivating presence?"
Carlisle turned to face them, his eyes filled with a mixture of surprise and intrigue. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he replied, "Oh my, I hadn’t expected to run into a mermaid, though I must be honest your curiosity matches my own."
“Would you care to come with me so that I may observe you and you can do the same to me?”
Intrigued by Carlisle's response, (Y/N) felt a surge of excitement fill their heart. They had spent countless years observing the human world, but now, they were on the verge of uncovering a world they had never known before.
The mermaid and the enigmatic creature began their journey together, their paths intertwining as they ventured into the unknown. With each step, yes step. (Y/n) was a exotic mermaid, able to change from tail to legs in a single transformation, (Y/N) felt their infatuation grow, their desire to understand Carlisle intensifying.
As they walked side by side, Carlisle shared stories of his existence. He spoke of his immortality, revealing that he was not a mere human but a vampire. His words painted a picture of a life shaped by time, wisdom, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. (Y/N) listened with rapt attention, captivated by the tales of a world hidden in the shadows.
In return, (Y/N) shared stories of their underwater realm, describing the wonders of the deep sea, the vibrant creatures that inhabited it, and the tranquility that enveloped their existence. Carlisle's eyes widened with wonder as he listened, fascinated by a world he had only heard of in legends.
With each passing day, their bond deepened, their connection growing stronger. They explored forests together, climbed mountains, and even crossed vast deserts, their journey becoming a testament to the power of curiosity and the beauty of discovery.
Through their explorations, (Y/N) realized that Carlisle's enigmatic aura was not just a product of his vampire nature, but also a reflection of the depth of his character. Beneath his immortal exterior, Carlisle possessed an unwavering compassion, a genuine desire to understand and connect with the world around him.
Together, they encountered humans, vampires, and creatures of all kinds, each encounter further expanding their understanding of the world. (Y/N) marveled at the complexities and diversity of life, their perspective forever changed by the experiences they shared with Carlisle.
But amidst the wonder and excitement, a bittersweet realization began to take hold. As (Y/N) spent more time with Carlisle, they couldn't help but acknowledge the vast differences that separated them. They belonged to two separate worlds, each with its own intricacies, limitations, and responsibilities.
The mermaid and the vampire continued their journey, torn between the pull of their connection and the awareness of their inherent differences. (Y/N) cherished the moments they spent with Carlisle, yet a part of them longed to return to their tranquil lake, the only place they had ever truly called home.
As their journey neared its end, (Y/N) found themselves standing on the precipice of a decision. Should they continue to pursue their infatuation with Carlisle, risking the stability and comfort of their underwater haven? Or should they bid farewell, cherishing the memories they had created together?
With a heavy heart, (Y/N) turned to Carlisle, their voice filled with a mixture of gratitude and longing. "Carlisle," they said softly, "our journey has been one of wonder and discovery. But now, I must return to my lake, to the life I have always known. I will cherish our time together, forever grateful for the connection we shared."
Carlisle's eyes softened with understanding, his hand reaching out to gently touch (Y/N)'s cheek. "Your lake will always be a part of you," he said, his voice filled with a mixture of sadness and acceptance. "Go, my dear mermaid, and may the memories of our time together guide you on your path."
With a final glance, (Y/N) turned away, their heart heavy with both loss and newfound wisdom. As they dived back into the depths of their beloved lake, they carried with them the cherished memories of a journey that had forever changed their perspective on the world.
And from the shore, Carlisle watched, a bittersweet smile playing on his lips, knowing that the mermaid had left an indelible mark on his immortal heart.

BG3 fix request:
Karlach (and maybe Hector?) babysit the teifling kids so Bex and Danis/Alfira and Lakrissa/whoever their responsible adults are can take a day off?
(chaos and shenanigans not mandatory but probably unavoidable)
Thank you for the prooooompt! <3 This was fun to mess with. It ended up being about 50% shenanigans and 50% Hector/Karlach fluff because reasons. :P I hope you enjoy!
-----
Sky-High
Pairing: Karlach/Tav (Hector Carlisle), Karlach & Mattis Characters: Karlach, Named Male Tav (Hector Carlisle), Mattis, Ide, Umi, Mirkon Rating: G Content Tags: Fluff, post-battle hurt/comfort, shenanigans, cute, funny, explosions Word Count: 3.0k Setting: End of Act 2, Moonrise Towers Read on AO3 other bg3 one-shots | send me fic requests! Summary: Karlach and Hector, exhausted from the battles at Moonrise Towers, keep an eye on the tiefling kids in the aftermath and make a dramatic discovery.
-----
The door at the low base of Moonrise Towers creaks open with a rusty whine. Hector leans heavily against the doorframe and surveys the dock that lines the tower's east side, and his weary expression brightens as soon as he spots Karlach.
“There you are!” With visible effort, he levers himself upright again and limps slowly down the stairs towards her. “I was looking all over for you.”
“Hey, Soldier.” Karlach shakes herself out of her thoughts and looks up, a smile automatically sliding onto her lips as well. “Come to join the party?”
She's slumped on a battered crate, her back against the precarious stack of barrels behind her. Nearby, four of the young tiefling children -- Ide, Mirkon, and Umi, with Mattis of course leading the pack -- are clambering about on a battered boat tied to the pier. It's not much of a party, especially given she feels like a herd of rothe recently ran her over and took a shit while they were doing it, but it’s certainly more cheerful than the tower's corpse-strewn innards. The shadowy air is cut with the children’s soft laughter; after the bloody events of the day, the sound feels incongruous, dreamlike.
Brave little fuckers, she thinks with quiet admiration. No way they don't know all the terrible shit that went down here tonight. But they're still hanging on.
We're all still hanging on…
“A party, hm?” Hector comes to a halt next to her, resting a hand on her shoulder. His lips twitch with amusement at the sight of her four unexpected charges. “Actually, I was hoping to come collect you so we could go to bed.”
She clicks her tongue playfully, peering up at him with half-lidded eyes. “To bed? Saer Carlisle, are you trying to seduce me?”
“Am I-- oh. Ah, no.” He blushes, rubbing the back of his neck. “I wish. Tragically, I’m being entirely literal; I’m so exhausted I could fall over right here.”

As Alice drove, she chatted about what the rest of the family had been doing. I found that they had moved to New York. Carlisle was teaching at Cornell part time which was, you know, just fantastic. So glad he was enjoying himself.
Emse was doing some historical reconstruction of some seventeenth century building. Emmett and Rosalie had gone to Europe for a honeymoon. Jasper was learning philosophy at Cornell. Alice meanwhile, had been doing some digging about her own past.
"My name was Mary Alice Brandon. I had a little sister named Cynthia. Her daughter- my niece- is still alive in Biloxi."
Mississippi.
"Did you find out why they put you in. . . that place? What would drive parents to that extreme? Even if their daughter saw visions of the future. . ." Bella asked.
"I couldn't find much about them. I went through all the old newspapers on microfiche. My family wasn't mentioned often; they weren't part of the social circle that made the papers. My parents' engagement was there, and Cynthia's. My birth was announced. . . and my death. I found my grave. I also filched my admissions sheet from the old asylum archives. The date on the admission and the date on my tombstones are the same."
The Cullens had been completely together- Edward was not with them- and they had been spending Spring Break in Denali with Tanya's family.
'Maybe Carlisle and Tanya are together' I thought blandly and was glad that I hadn't dragged Sam up there when I'd wanted to. That would've meant running into Carlisle and Sam probably would've tried killing him.
I sighed, peering out the window.
Once we got to the airport, I quickly made sure that my wig was in place before getting out of the car. Alice quickly bought three tickets to Italy. We would have to make a stop in New York and then board another plane through a connection to Italy.
There were no problems in the airport. People barely looked at me, which was such a relief I could laugh. My passport wasn't even looked at twice. Soon, we were on the plane. Bella's leg was bouncing up and down and Alice muttered, "It's faster than running."
Bella simply nodded.
I pulled out the book I'd brought with me. Yes, I know, I brought a book to save Edward from his demise. But really, if we were going to die, then I wanted to be enjoying a book.
I was reading The Necromancer: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. It was the fourth book in a series of six. It truly was a shame that I might not have the chance to finish the series off.
Alice lifted the phone off the back of the seat as the plane rose into the sky while Bella eyed the stewardress. I listened in to see who Alice was talking to. ". . . changing his mind. . . a killing spree through the city, attacking the guard, lifting a car over his head in the main square. . . mostly things that would expose them- he knows that's the fastest way to force a reaction. . . No, you can't! Tell Emmett no. . . Well, go after Emmett and Rosalie and bring them back. . . Think about it, Jasper. If he sees any of us, what do you think he will do?"
Pause.
She nodded, "Exactly. I think Bella and mom are the only chance- if there is a chance. . . I'll do everything that can be done, but prepare Carlisle-" His name sent shocks through my heart, "- the odds aren't good."
She laughed with a catch in her throat, "I've thought of that. . . Yes, I promise. Don't follow me. I promise, Jasper. One way or another, I'll get out. . .And I love you."
My heart caught in my throat. I felt so bad for her.
She hung up and closed her eyes, leaning back in her seat, "I hate lying to him."
I nodded. I hated lying to Sam. There was definitely a chance none of us were getting out of this.
Not that it mattered to me. My parents- dead. My brother Kol- dead. There was Sam and my werewolf sons. . . but they could get along without me. They'd be okay without me. They could survive. Sam had Emily. They had each other.
I rubbed the tattoo on my wrist. I loved them. I truly loved them. They were my family now. I wish I didn't have to leave them.
"Tell me everything, Alice. I don't understand. Why did you tell Jasper to stop Emmett, why can't they come help us?" Bella asked.
"Two reasons. The first I told him. We could try to stop Edward ourselves- if Emmett could get his hands on him, we might be able to stop him long enough to convince him, you're alive. But we can't sneak up on Edward. And if he sees us coming for him, he'll just act that much faster. He'll throw a Buick through a wall or something, and the Volturi will take him down."
She paused, thinking deeply and then added, "That's the second reason of course, the reason I couldn't say to Jasper. Because if they're there and the Volturi kill Edward, they'll fight them. Bella. If there was any chance we could win. . . if there was a way that the four of us could save my brother by fighting for him, maybe it would be different. But we can't, and, Bella, I can't lose Jasper like that."
Especially since he'd spent so much of his life fighting.
"Couldn't Edward hear you, though? Wouldn't he know, as soon as he heard your thoughts, that I was alive, that there was no point to this?" Bella asked in confusion.
"You can lie with your thoughts." I answered quietly.
"Exactly." Alice said sadly. "If you had died, I would still try to stop him. And I would be thinking 'she's alive, she's alive' as hard as I could. He knows that."
Bella gritted her teeth in frustration. I could only imagine her anger. If Carlisle had tried pulling this crap I would be angry too. After all, they didn't want us anymore. They had casted us aside like an unwanted dog that bit to much. Carlisle hadn't even bothered to say good-bye to me.
"If there was any way to do this without you, Bella, mom, I wouldn't be endangering you two like this. It's very wrong of me."
"Don't be stupid. I'm the last thing you should be worrying about. Tell me what you meant, about hating to lie to Jasper." Bella said, shaking her head.
She smiled grimly. "I promised him I would get out before they killed me, too. It's not something I can guarantee- not by a long shot."
"Who are these Volturi?" Bella asked. "What makes them so much more dangerous than Emmett, Jasper, Rosalie, and you?"
I mostly stopped listening at this point. I knew they were dangerous. Aro could hear every thought in your head with one touch of your body. Marcus could test familial bonds, test and see where they were weak, gauge how strong they are.
There was Jane who could cause pain by looking at you. And then her opposite twin Alec who would cause no feelings at all. Then there was Demetri who could track you down knowing nothing but your name. Felix was as strong as Emmett, maybe stronger. Chelsea keeps the guard together with bonds and can also break bonds. Renata was Aro's shield. Santiago who also possessed great strength. Heidi was a bit of a fisher, able to lure the humans into Volterra for the others to eat.
I shivered, pulling out my earbuds. I drowned myself in babymetal so that I couldn't hear anything else.
I let the heavy metal with cute Japanese little girl voices sing in my head until I felt a jarring motion and realized we had landed in New York. Huh, it had felt rather short.
I pulled out my earbuds as Bella made Alice get up. We ran to get to our connection, but it was worth it as the plane took off almost immediately. I immediately set myself back into Baby metal, trying to fall asleep.
A few minutes- hours really- Alice motioned to both Bella and I excitedly. I groggily extracted my earbuds from my ears, wondering what she was so excited about. Night had fallen outside the windows.
"What's wrong?" Bella muttered.
"It's not wrong. It's right. They're deliberating, but they've decided to tell him no." Alice said with a smile.
That was good?
"The Volturi?" Bella muttered again.
"Of course, Bella, keep up. I can see what they're going to say."
"Tell me."
"Can I get you ladies a pillow?" A male flight attendant asked. I knew my wig was slightly loose so I didn't dare look at him.
"No, thank you." Alice said.
"Tell me." Bella said again.
"They're interested in him- they think his talent could be useful. They're going to offer him a place with them."
"What will he say?" Bella asked curiously while I gingerly fixed the hairline on the red wig. The bun was starting to give me a headache. I would be able to take it off once we were in Italy.
"I can't see that yet, but I'll be it's colourful. This is the first good news- the first break. They're intrigued; they truly don't want to destroy him- 'wasteful,' that's the word Aro will use- and that may be enough to force him to get creative. The longer he spends on his plans, the better for us."
Okay so it was good news. Good.
"Alice?"
"What?"
"I'm confused. How are you seeing this so clearly? And then other times, you see things far away- things that don't happen?" Bella asked curiously.
"It's clear because it's immediate and close, and I'm really concentrating. The faraway things that come on their own- those are just glimpses, faint maybes. Plus, I see my kind more easily than yours. Edward is even easier because I'm so attuned to him."
"You see me sometimes." Bella added.
"Not as clearly." Alice said.
"Clear enough you saw her cliff diving." I grunted.
Bella sighed, "I really wish you could have been right about me. In the beginning, when you first saw things about me, before we even met. . ."
"What do you mean?" Alice asked curiously.
"You saw me become one of you." Bella muttered so quietly I almost missed it. I almost sighed aloud.
Alice did sigh. "It was a possibility at the time."
"At the time." Bella repeated dully.
"Actually, Bella. . . Honestly, I think it's all gotten beyond ridiculous. I'm debating whether to just change you myself." Alice finally said.
I froze and so did Bella.
"Did I scare you? I thought that's what you wanted." Alice asked, confused, staring between the two of us.
"I do! Oh, Alice, do it now! I could help you so much- and I wouldn't slow you down. Bite me!"
"Jesus Bella." I hissed. "Shut up."
"Try to be reasonable." Alice said. "We don't have enough time. We have to get into Volterra tomorrow. You'd be writhing in pain for days. And I don't think the other passengers would react well."
"If you don't do it now, you'll change your mind."
"No. I don't think I will. He'll be furious, but what will he be able to do about it?"
"Nothing at all."
She laughed quietly and then added as an afterthought, "You have to much faith in me, Bella. I'm not sure that I can. I'll probably just end up killing you."
"I'll take my chances." Bella said stupidly.
"You are so bizarre, even for a human." Alice pointed out.
"Thanks." Bella said.
"Oh well, this is purely hypothetical at this point, anyway. First we have to live through tomorrow."
"Good point." Bella sounded excited. She looked sideways at me, "Will you be a vampire?"
I shook my head, "There's no point. Instead of a life time of sickness and suffering, it would just be endless forever suffering. No thanks."
"When you're a vampire, you might capture Carlisle's attention." Bella pointed out. "He wouldn't need distractions."
I scoffed, "Why would I chase a man who doesn't want me? If he doesn't love me as a human then he's not going to love me as a vampire. I shouldn't have to change myself to permanently to get his attention. Besides, Vampires aren't allowed on the Quileute rez so I'd much rather stay human thank you very much."
Bella was silent for a moment, probably lost in her own world again.
I fell back asleep and didn't wake again until the sky was turning pink and orange. I noticed Alice's late night enthusiasm was gone as we started to touch down in Florence, Italy. She was already talking to Bella and I listened in as I stretched, getting ready to exit the plane.
". . .got very close. He changed his mind at the last minute."
"He wouldn't want to disappoint Carlisle. Not at the end." Bella murmured.
"Probably."
"Will there be enough time?" Bella questioned.
"I'm hoping so- if he sticks to his latest decision, maybe." Alice said, but she didn't sound particularly hopeful.
"What is that?" Bella and I asked together.
"He's going to keep it simple. He's just going to walk out into the sun."
I didn't know if it would be enough. There were a lot of things that could be say. Reflective surfaces taped to his skin, glitter, sparkles, diamonds imbedded in his skin- hey rappers did weird things like that all the time- etc. There could be a very good reason for why his skin was sparkling. Grand effects for whatever.
". . . wants the biggest audience possible, so he'll choose the main plaza, under the clock tower. The walls are high there. He'll wait till the sun is exactly overhead."
"So we have till noon?" Bella asked.
"If we're lucky. If he sticks with this decision."
"How far is it from Florence to Volterra?"
"That depends on how fast you drive. . . Bella? Davina?"
"Yes?" We asked together, looking at her. I pulled on my leather jacket, fixing my wig slightly when no one was looking.
"How strongly are you opposed to grand theft auto?"
I grinned.
---------------
We careened down the road in a bright yellow Porsche. Honestly, I was having the time of my life, beaming, the wind down just slightly to feel the heavy breeze rolling through.
"There's Volterra." Alice announced after about fifteen or so minutes of driving. We'd been weaving in and out of traffic which had been terrifying at first, but I knew Alice wouldn't crash. I wasn't even wearing my seat belt.
I looked over to the see the city that looked like it was built on a mountain. It was all the same tan colour and it looked like a maze of walls and roads and buildings. The main plaza was probably smack dab in the middle, making it a literal maze. The surrounding area was forest of green trees and luscious fields.
We were so totally dead.
Alice drove through the roads, showing me that there were indeed layers to the city. She beeped as she tried not running people over. Everyone jumped out of the way, everyone was also wearing red which was really, really weird.
"Why are they all in red?" Bella asked as Alice moved through a large crowd of people.
"Saint Marcos Day festival." Alice replied with complete indifference, "They're commemorating the expulsion of vampires from the city. It's the perfect setting."
I snorted from the irony.
"The Volturi will never let him reveal himself."
"We have five minutes." Bella was practically crying in the front seat. I could feel my heart beating faster as my stomach churned at the deadline.
"Bella, just breathe." Alice said.
Police officers stopped us at the next check point. "Let's go." I muttered to Bella, throwing my door open. Bella threw her door open as well and we started to run.
"Where are we going?" Bella shouted after me.
"The clocktower of course." I shouted behind me.
Bella and I ran, pushing past people in red as much as we could. We ran up stairs, down alleyways as we searched for the clocktower.
The sun was beating down on us and I stripped off the leather jacket, wishing I'd brought something different so I could just tie it around my waist. Instead, I just held it under my arm as I sprinted, pushing past more people.
Me and Bella came to a stop as we reached a wall of people that were watching a parade go by.
"Come on." I muttered, starting to push through people. If I had to cross the parade to get to my son, I would.
Me and Bella dashed through an opening in the parade, continuing to cut through people. I could see the clock tower in front of us.
Pushing through the crowd of people, we suddenly found ourselves in front of a fountain. 'Well damn' I thought.
The clock hit twelve.
"Fuck." I cursed aloud, jumping up on the fountain, running along the edge of it like a balance beam, except it was wider than a beam.
I could see Edward walking out of the door and I could hear Bella screaming Edward's name behind me.
"Damn you Eddie." I muttered, sprinting towards him. I could hear splashing in the fountain and I knew that Bella was running across the fountain. I leapt off the stone fountain edge as he finished unbuttoning his shirt. Bella suddenly tore past me, water flying off her shoes as he stepped out into the light, tackling him backwards into the church.
Bella and I shoved him together into the clock tower, the doors slamming behind me. "Bella? Mom?"
I huffed, furious now that Edward was alive and in my sights, "You complete arsehole Edward Cullen!"
Edward looked slightly abashed, but he couldn't keep his attention on me for long, turning to Bella instead. I rolled my eyes, leaning against the stone wall. We'd probably have to stay here until night set. I hoped Alice could find us.
Was Bella really going to forgive Edward so quickly? Oh yep, they were kissing. Well damn.
I really hoped we took planes straight back to Forks and then they could go to Alaska to see the others. The last thing I wanted to do was see Carlisle again. The others- fine. My kids- fantastic, Esme- wonderful. Carlisle- fuck me.
Wrong choice of words.
Screw him.
No, wait.
Shit.
Suddenly, there was a noise like an elevator and I looked over to see two pale, male figures making their way over to us.
One was slightly smaller with blond hair while the other was bigger, hulk like, with dark hair.
"I won't be needing your services after all, gentlemen." Edward said, holding Bella close.
"Aro wants to speak with you again." The bigger folk said.
"No rules were broken." Edward protested.
"Nonetheless, we should take this conversation to a more appropriate venue." The smaller man said, looking at me and winking. I raised an eyebrow. Now that he was closer, I saw the blond was more of a dirty brown blond.
"Fine." Edward said. "Bella, Davina, why don't you two go and enjoy the rest of the festival?"
"The girls come with us." The bigger man said.
"Ooh lovely." I snarked under my breath.
"No. You can go to hell." Edward said.
"Eddie." I said sharply, raising an eyebrow.
Alice stepped in at that second, lowering the head scarf she had been wearing. "Come on guys. It's a festival. You wouldn't want to make a scene."
"We wouldn't." The dark haired man said when a third figure appeared. She was mostly definitely blond with large red eyes.
"Enough." She announced, tossing her hood back.
"Jane." Edward whispered.
"Aro sent me to see what was taking so long." Jane said, looking up at the darker haired man, then the lighter, looking at the other three, then me, before turning and going back the way she came. There was a no nonsense air about her and it made Edward follow after, Bella's hand tightly in his own. Alice followed after and I went with them.
The other two vampires waited till I passed by to bring up the rear.
The bigger man held out a red robe for Edward to put on, which he did.
"Go ahead." Jane said as she reached the part where the stairs turned downwards. We walked past and now the three of them were bringing up the rear.
Now that Edward was safe, I truly wasn't scared. We would meet Aro. We would either live or die. Personally, I preferred life, but it truly wasn't the biggest worry if I died. Although, admittedly, I hadn't redeemed myself yet and would probably be going to hell.
Eternal hell.
Lovely.
We finally filed into an elevator. While the others stood upright and stiff, I leaned against the wall. The better looking man, the small one who had winked, was staring at me. I looked back.
"Don't touch. I bite." I said, raising my eyebrows.
He grinned, "Oh, I like you."
I titled my head a little in acknowledgement. Jane snorted up front. The elevator music was horrible.
"Opera. Terrible." I muttered as the doors opened. The man snorted in laughter. The bigger man rolled his eyes.
We stepped into a lobby of sorts, a human woman behind the desk. I was surprised, but perhaps I shouldn't have been.
"Is she human?" Bella asked up front. I was walking between the man that seemed to like me- or at least I amused him- and Alice.
"Yes." Edward said.
"Does she know?" Bella asked after a few seconds.
"Yes." Edward was being quiet, like he didn't want anyone else to hear, which was ridiculous because I could hear which meant the vampires around us certainly could.
"Then why would. . .She wants to be." Bella answered her own question.
"And so she will be." The man next to me said.
"Or dessert." Jane said calmly ahead of us.
I rolled my eyes.
Jane opened up two double doors in front of us and revealed a large room that looked like a dome. In fact, it probably was. There were quite a few windows, but not enough for the light to fully reach the ground and make the vampires around us sparkle.
There weren't many vampires at all, two guards near the door, a young man in the middle of the floor, and three sitting upon thrones up on an altar.
"Sister, they send you out to get one and you come back with two." The vampire who must be Alec said. "And two halves making three. Such a clever girl."
I bit my tongue to keep from making a sarcastic remark.
The vampire sitting upon the middle throne- most likely Aro- stood, throwing his arms out wide. What a happy surprise! Bella is alive after all!" He stepped down the steps as we stopped.
He clapped his hands together, walking with normal speed towards us. Honestly, he wasn't that bad looking. His long black hair was pulled back in a ponytail and despite his three thousand year old age, he didn't look a day over thirty. His eyes of course, were red and I liked to image what they would look like if they were golden.
"Isn't that wonderful!" He finished. He reached out for Edwards' hand, "I love a happy ending. They are so rare."
I agreed. They were pretty much nonexistent.
He said something in Italian that I didn't bother understand because- I didn't know Italian. But whatever it was made Aro turn to look at Bella and he said, "Her blood appeals to you so much. . . it makes me thirsty."
I nearly snorted, but kept my attitude. Pretty sure a royal vampire king wasn't the kind of vampire I wanted to piss off.
"How can you stand to be so close to her?"
"It's not without difficulty." Edward responded.
"Yes, I can see that." Aro laughed, still holding Edward's hand. I had thought he only needed to briefly touch it, not hold it for extended periods of time.
I shifted my attention to the two vampires on the other thrones. Caius was even more handsome than in the painting. Not as good as Lucius Malfoy, of course, but still, rather decent. Marcus on the other hand looked like he had never gotten over the English days of King George.
I had clearly missed conversation as Aro turned his eyes to Bella and said, "Fascinating. I would love to see if. . ." He finally dropped Edward's hand, stepping back, "you are an exception to my gifts, as well." He held out his hand. Bella, after some hesitation, stepped forward and gave Aro her hand. "Would you do me the honor?"
I let my gaze wander until it landed on the other vampire again who winked. I smirked and then turned my attention back to Aro who was looking rather perturbed.
"Interesting. I see nothing. I wonder. . ." He turned his back, walking slightly back to his throne, "Let us see if she is immune to all our powers. Shall we, Jane?"
I hesitated for a fraction of an inch. Jane, of course, created pain with her mind. I did not want that to be used on Bella, but at the same time. . . I did not think that it would.
"No!" Edward protested, going to move in front of Bella when I stepped in front of Edward.
"Don't." I warned him. "Edward, stay calm and stay here."
Edward hesitated under my stern gaze and I raised an eyebrow. Jane turned her attention on Bella. Edward went to move and I put my hand on his shoulder. "Don't."
We waited, watching as Jane continued to gaze at Bella. Bella gazed back and nothing happened.
Aro started to laugh. I took it back. It was terribly creepy and I was really starting to dislike him. I let go of Edward's shoulder, moving back into the background.
"Remarkable." Aro said, clapping his hands together. Jane stared at him. "She confounds us all."
Aro turned to me, "And who are you?"
"Davina Michaelson." I replied.
"Ah yes, the Cullen mother." Aro said softly. "Carlisle's mate."
I rolled my eyes. "Not really, but sure."
"And does Edward have difficulty reading your mind?" Aro asked.
"No." I replied.
"Might I?" Aro asked, holding out his hand.
"I quite like my privacy, thank you."
"Mom." Edward hissed under his breath.
I wavered, glancing at him and then at Aro who looked intrigued.
If I was going to tell someone all of my deepest, darkest secrets, this vampire was the last person I wanted to know. Not to mention, Edward would be able to see everything as it flashed through Aro's mind.
It was uncomfortable feeling. Aro would know every moment of my life from the moment I was born to now. He would know about my relationship with Carlisle, what happened with my parents, and how I had nearly killed three different vampires using wooden stakes and a lighter.
"Edward, stay out of his head and mine." I said, holding out my hand.
Aro ignored it, stepping forward, his hands on either side of my face, pressing his lips to mine. I was shocked and froze. Memories flooded my mind. My first step, my fourth birthday party, playing in the ocean with Sam, my Uncle Josh greeting us at Fort Knox, Azim, my first kiss, the bombs, the death, the screaming, and everything else up until this moment.
Aro didn't let go of my hand for a very long time. It was cold, like all vampires hands, and there was a smoothness to it that suggested age. Almost soft.
We stared into each others' eyes before he finally let go. "You have one of the most traumatic lives I have ever seen." Aro whispered. "How do you handle it at such a young age?"
"I'm Davina Michaelson. I survive." I stated flatly.
"Strange, and your blood does not appeal to me, nor anyone else in this room." Aro murmured, almost to himself.
"Pretty sure that's a good thing." I said and I saw the man smile out of the corner of my eye. Felix on the other hand rolled his eyes.
"Indeed, although you were Carlisle's blood singer. . ." Aro said slowly.
"He has a theory that I'm one side of the spectrum for every vampire. Either the side that does crave my blood period or the side where I'm the blood singer. It's just lovely." I said sarcastically.
Aro smiled, bemused, "So what are we going to do with you now?"
"You already know what you are going to do, Aro." Marcus said from his throne, slouching like he didn't know what good posture was.
"They know to much. They are a liability." Caius said.
Well, so much for thinking he was good looking. I'd stick with the guy who seemed to like me.
"That's true." Aro said.
"Okay so, we're liabilities now." I stated, "But when we become vampires, that makes us not liabilities, right?"
Aro looked at me, "I did not realize you planned on becoming a vampire."
"Alice promised Bella to change her after we saved Edward from trying to die." I replied.
Edward shot me a look.
"And yourself?" Aro asked, raising an eyebrow.
I titled my head, thinking. "I told Carlisle to give me a few years. I wanted to be at least twenty five or older."
"And you're twenty now?"
"Almost twenty-one." I responded. "Coming April."
Aro tilted his head to the side, judging me. I looked at Alice, "You could show him."
Alice nodded, taking off her glove, extending her hand to Aro who took it in almost delight. I watched as Aro and Alice stared at each other. "Mesmerizing." Aro responded in an almost breathless whisper, "To see what you have seen. . . before it has happened." Aro moved in front of Bella, "Your gifts will make for an intriguing immortal." He caressed her cheek. I pursed my lips. I wondered what her gift was going to be.
"Go now." Aro said, backing away from us. "Make your preparations."
"Let us be done with this." Marcus said from his throne. "Heidi will arrive any moment." He stood up.
"Right, time to go." I said, hooking my arm through Alice's.
"Thank you for your visit." Marcus said to us.
Right, well at least he was polite.
"We will return the favor. I would advise that you follow through on your promise soon." Caius said, not rising from his throne. "We do not offer second chances."
Wow, just a ray of sunshine.
"Goodbye, my young friends." Aro said in delight to our backs as we exited the room.
"Nice fishing Heidi." The young man said as we passed by a tall vampire wearing a red dress and black gloves with heels. I felt sick, watching the people file past, especially when I saw that there were two children in the group.
"You have children in the group!" I protested as Edward and Alice led me and Bella faster and farther from the group.
The man looked at me, at first amused, and then almost apologetic. "It happens."
I swallowed hard as I heard the screams. Edward and Alice pushed us through the doors, blocking out the screams.
We went up the elevator.
"Which one are you?" I asked the man. "Santiago or Demetri?"
He looked just the faintest surprised that I knew the names and he said, "Demetri."
"Ah, the tracker." I said with a nod.
He smirked. "Indeed I am. And I think you would make a lovely vampire."
"I'm sure." I smirked.
He brushed my cheek lightly as the doors opened.
"Careful," I warned lightly. "I still bite."
He laughed lightly as I exited the elevator.
"Mom, you shouldn't flirt with him." Edward muttered.
"Yes, well as I am single and not seeing anyone, I have every right to flirt with whoever I feel like." I muttered.
Technically, the Volturi weren't bad people. I supposed if I did become a vampire, I could always come back here. I could see a life as part of the guard, specifically alongside Demetri. But then again, I don't think that would help with my attempts at redemption.
I knew all three of them would be curious about what Aro had meant about my life, but it wasn't any of their business. Edward was safe. Him and Alice would go back to Denali with their family, leaving us alone again.
I wondered if the wolves had caught Victoria yet, or if when we disappeared, she went too.
We caught another plane out of Florence- I had redone my red wig as I had taken it off once we'd landed in Florence the first time.
We landed in Rome and I called Sam.
Emily was the one who picked up, "Davina? Are you alright? Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything is fine. I'm on my way home. I need Sam to pick me up at the airport. Or any of the boys for that matter. We land early in the morning, I have no idea what time it is there right now. I just thought you should know."
"Okay, I'll pass along the message." Emily said, sounding exhausted.
"Thanks Em."
I hung up, leaving the bathroom and rejoining Edward, Alice, and Bella as we got ready to board the long flight from Rome to Atlanta.
I fell asleep during the flight as I was exhausted, dreaming about bombs, running, screaming, and vampires.
I woke up with a headache, feeling sicker than I had in days. I drank a sprite to keep it down. Once we landed in Atlanta, I hurried to the bathroom to throw up and once the plane from Atlanta to Seattle was ready to leave, I felt better.
I fell asleep on this flight as well, feeling well rested when I woke up as the flight landed.
Edward, Alice, and Bella were the first off the flight and then Jasper was there, standing in front of Alice.
Aw shit, the family was here.
I looked around quickly, ignoring the blond and red head in the corner. I couldn't deal with Carlisle right now.
"Davina!" I heard a familiar young voice call.
I broke out in a grin, seeing Seth, Jared, and Sam there. I ran over to them, hugging them all fiercely. "Hey guys."
"Why are you wearing a red wig?" Seth asked in confusion. I took it off, stuffing it in my bag along with my fake passport.
"No reason." I lied. "Are you ready to go home?"
"Sure." Sam said, glaring over my shoulder.
"Sam, ignore them." I muttered.
"Are you alright?" Jared asked in concern.
"Yep, just flirted with a few vampires, saved Edward's life, no big deal."
"Alright, well come on mom." Jared said.
"Wait," I paused, really taking in the fact that Seth was here with Sam. I looked from Seth to Sam and then poked Seth's right arm. "Do you have a tattoo there?"
"Oh yeah." Seth grinned, "It's honestly so awesome."
"What colour wolf are you?" I asked.
"Grey." Seth said excitedly. "Leah's one too."
"What!" I exclaimed.
Sam slung an arm around my shoulder, "You smell terrible."
"Thank you ugly." I muttered. "Come on, let's go."
Carlisle P.O.V.
My anxiety swelled as Davina stepped off the plane, looking more beautiful than ever. I felt better than I had in months and I took a moment to see just how sick she was. She was thin, the unhealthy kind of thin, and she didn't give us the time of day, heading straight for the wolves when she landed.
Alice and Edward hesitated, noting my reaction.
"She thinks you hate her." Alice said, sounding apologetic, glancing between Edward and myself. "I think. . . I think you have some things you need to tell both of them Edward."
Edward looked completely ashamed of himself, but was more focused on Bella than anything else, "Yeah, I will."
That wasn't comforting at all.

"it's been a while since i've been in such a research-intensive environment ," max commented to carlisle as he peered through the glass wall which kept the main part of the museum separate from the research facilities . you could see test tubes and papers strewn about from where scientists had left their day's work behind before the ball began . the medical director glanced toward carlisle . "but this must be very normal to you , hm ? as a resident , your classroom days are barely behind you , right ?" / closed starter for @bcrncoldx

Wait Up For Me
Summary: After a long day in the ER, Carlisle wants nothing more than to come home and hold you close. It’s way past time that any human would be up but a small part of him hoped to catch you awake. Somehow you always knew when he needed you most.

Warnings: talk of child’s death in first paragraph, briefest mention of forgetting to eat, stress
A/N: I was listening to Wait Up For Me by Brett Eldridge earlier today and this hit like a lightning bolt. Carlisle is the love of my life so getting to (in writing) comfort him just warms my heart. All the heart eyes for this man.

“All I wanna do
is wrap my arms around you
Don’t go to sleep
Wait up for me”
The first thing he noticed when he arrived within hearing distance of his home was the stillness. The shift he just finished has been taxing. The little girl had passed despite his best efforts to save her life and he felt helpless. He was an immortal being; he should have been able to work faster or harder to save her but even his inhuman talents were no use tonight. All he wanted to do was hold you, to bury his face in your neck and wrap his arms around your warm body. He knew you would probably be fast asleep but his undead heart silently prayed to a God he had long since believed in that you had gotten your nose stuck in a book.
The quiet hum of the car’s engine was the only noise besides the ever present flutter of the leaves in the wind and creatures in the night. His eldest son might have loved the twilight but he was becoming more entranced with midnight. The time of night when everything is sleeping and quiet and calm. He has begun to find solace in your favorite time of day; it brings memories of moonlit dances to your favorite songs and stargazing on clear nights where you point out constellations. Tonight was no different. Thankful for his enhanced senses, he spent most of his drive staring out at the moon. She was beautiful tonight, sparkling against a backdrop of small stars. He briefly considered waking you to pull you out into the forest to spend time admiring the view.
As soon as his car was pulling into the driveway, he searched the home for any lights. His children were all out hunting for the weekend so the only movement in the house would have been you but there was none. The tinted windows lining the home were all reflecting the forest back at him.
Bypassing the light switches, he strolled into his home in the dark. He stopped briefly to hang his scarf and scrubs in the rack next to the garage before peering into the kitchen. There were no dishes on the counters but he could smell the scent of food and took comfort in the fact that you remembered to eat dinner. Living with vampires set your internal clock to a weird schedule as you found early on in the relationship. Thankful of his immortality and lack of need to eat, he silently sped towards his bedroom.
The second he reached the first floor housing his study and room, he was met with disappointment. By the steady beating of your heart, he could tell you were asleep.
Not wanting to wake you, he slipped into the bathroom off of his study to shower. He liked to rid himself of the hospital smells as soon as possible so they didn’t linger in his home to bother his children. Since you were asleep, he had no reason to rush. He washed and rinsed quicker than a human would but still slower than his normal routine when he knows you’re waiting.
After slipping into fresh clothes, he toweled his wet hair and made his way to the bedroom. The moment he walked through the door he could tell you weren’t asleep. Your breathing was slow and steady along with your heart beat; anyone that didn’t know you as closely as he, would assume you were dreaming but your hands were clenched around the pillow you held to your chest. The sight of you snuggled up under his covers never failed to send sparks under his skin.
With a grin, he threw the towel at the hamper and walked over to your sprawled out form, “Hi sweetheart”.
Your eyes opened in the cutest little squint as you realized he was right in front of you. He knelt before the bed and moved a hand to push back a strand of hair from your face as he smiled at you sweetly.
“Hi” you whispered back, voice cracking from lack of use. He gave you a moment to yawn and wipe your eyes before he handed you the glass of water from your nightstand. You sat up and took a sip before handing it back to him with a wiggling hand. As soon as it was down, you were reaching towards his arms to pull him onto the bed.
He went willingly, letting you guide him to lying partially draped over your body. His head found its favorite place to nose at your neck. You had asked him once if being so close to your pulse bothered him but he found himself loving his enhanced senses in those moments. Always having the definitive proof that you were there and healthy and breathing set his mind at ease. You smelled the most like yourself there. That area held no perfumes or lotions with added smells to change your unique scent. Whenever he got the chance, he loved being able to watch you squirm in delight as he buried his face beside you.
Tonight, he guessed, you were warned by the resident pixie as to his needs and kept yourself up for him. He took a moment to run the tip of his nose gently up and down your neck. His ear found a home against your pulse and he peppered soft kisses along the hollow of your neck and collarbone. You would giggle slightly at each kiss, a hiccup like sound meshed with chiming bells that he recorded in his mind to listen to when he missed you.
Somehow you always knew what he needed. You didn’t ask about his day or anything else, letting the only noise come from your hands. One rocking back and forth in shapes down his back while the other toyed with the quickly drying tips of his hair. The silence didn’t hang heavy between you, it settled like morning dew in a way that only years of friendship could foster. Later on, he would ask about your day, tell you how much he loved you, how grateful he is for you, but for now, he let the soft caress of your touch lull him into a stillness that he spent centuries searching for.

Pain
⚠️ Chapter has minor details of a panic attack. I am also sorry I haven't posted in 4 months 💀 half of the time I procrastinated, and the other half I wasn't motivated enough. But I'm back! ⚠️
Part 4
"You still didn't get anything from her?" Edward, phone on his shoulder, spoke quietly as he moved around the kitchen, hands working fast without mistakes, cracking eggs into the glass bowl.
Alice officially stopped getting visions from you. One minute you're staring blankly at the tv, the next minute its darkness. Complete nothingness. She knew you suffered from past depression thanks to your absent mother, then the slight neglect you got from being the middle child. And don't forget the stress of college. So... she was worried for your mental health, especially from the sudden blackness she got at the wedding.
"No Edward... I haven't. Billy isn't picking up the phone either. Carlisle and I assume two things. He's either ashamed to talk to us, or..." there was a brief pause. Anxiety started to build up in the male's chest as he got nothing but silence from the other end, the slow relaxed beat of his wife's heart keeping him from bursting the glass bowl, spilling the slushed eggs.
"Alice-"
"Just- just enjoy your vacation Edward... you're married now okay? So... focus on her. Focus on Bella." He could hear the fake hope in her voice. There was a slight salty taste to her words. She was bitter, to say the least. She let this whole thing go on for so long. From running away to Alaska to get away from Bella, ignoring your calls... she was so blind trying to validate her brother's feelings, trying to find out about her foggy past, she didn't even think to check on you, to see how you were doing in school, to see if you were okay, she was a bad friend, a horrible friend she can admit.
It's times like this when he wishes he could hear thoughts over the phone. He hated this, he hated what he did to you. He hated that even if he was in love with Bella, he still cared so much about you. He was mentally 17, yet was more mature than most of his peers.. he knew better. So he still blamed himself for letting you get caught up in his game for so long.
He felt bad. You got caught in the illusion. The same illusion he wished his wife fell for, but she so happened to be the one.
And his wife didn't know! Of course, she didn't. Dragged along in the manipulation as well. She thought you and Edward broke up on good terms. That's what she thought up until the wedding night. That made her question who she married, but it wasn't damaging enough to let him go. Edward knew this.
He hated himself for dragging you in this, to keep his human appearance up. Not all of it was fake! He tried to remind himself every night when he watched his wife sleep. It was true. He did start to catch feelings for you. But you weren't her. He didn't have to hide what he was from her. She knew him for him. And you didn't. And he didn't want to think about what you'd think of him when you did find out.
"What? Alice, stop playing right now... finish your sentence." The pixie girl looks over to her father figure, who listened to the call even though the phone was to her ear. He truly didn't know what to do in this case, as much as it pained him, you weren't any of their concern anymore.
He shrugged to his daughter, head empty for the first time in centuries. It was weird... you were like a daughter to him, he considered you family... but Edward was his son, and he couldn't choose you over him. No, he wouldn't choose you over him. Even when his stiff heart told him to do the right thing. which was to apologize to you, face to face for his son's actions.. it was wrong, he knew that.
This whole incident made Carlisle confused. Who was his son? he knew the boy was secretive, and quiet until he was with his true love, Bella. But to pull you along, to... manipulate the whole family into thinking the relationship was genuine, to fill your hopes up with being with his son for a long time?.. He fell right into his son's manipulation. He felt horrible, he couldn't imagine how betrayed you felt.
Who was Edward Masen?
They couldn't cross the border to check on you, nor were you answering their calls. It was clear you wanted nothing to do with them. Alice gulps down venom, a nervous tick she picked up from humans.
"Or," Edward places down the bowl with a hard thud. If his heart wasn't frozen in place, it would be the cause of his heart attack. "He might be planning another funeral, Edward." "Edward?" Alice heard Bella over the phone. "But don't try to think about it too hard. She's okay...Goodbye Edward." Alice was quick to hang up the phone, stone hands now both placed on the dark counter of their home.
"Edward..." Bella repeats, slowly walking towards her husband, dark brown eyes concerned as she watches him stare off into space while the phone loosely hung in his fingers. She took the phone from his hold, her sweet smell wafting near his nose and warm fingers pulling him out of his daze.
"Yeah?" His voice was low, gold eyes meeting hers. Bella knew something was wrong, the next question was did she want to know what happened? Of course, she did. "Something happening?"
The cold one fixes up a smile, lips never pulling back over his teeth. "Alice going on her rant about Rosalie and Emmett... seems like they're going through another bed." This seems to make the other cheeks go red, a blush covering the tips of her ears with a dazed smile. "I guess we're not the only ones having fun this week..." she chuckles, and he follows along.
He was always a good liar.
"Do you know how idiotic that was?! You could've been killed, moron!" You stared up at your little brother with a bored expression, jaw swollen and cold as you laid the frozen peas on them.
Once you got the cold one head between your jaws, with fast movements it placed its hard marble fingers between your jaw, keeping them open until they popped.
You squinted your eyes at him, knowing you couldn't say anything to him as the bone in your jaw was dislocated, about to be popped back in place once the ice numbed it enough.
"Don't even look at me like that! You-ugh!!" He groans, hands curling together frustratingly in front of your face, a way to say he wanted to strangle you. How dare he disrespect me like that? A growl rumbled in your chest as you slapped his hands away from your face. You were about to kick his knees but he moved out of the way.
"Okay okay. Seriously Jacob lay easy on her, it was her first time. You remember your first time. Cocky with the dreadhead?" Sam finally spoke up, an amused smile on his face. You grunted, agreeing to his words, even though you had no idea what they were referring to. Your brother was madder at you than anything, which was understandable, the now-ashed vampire could've ripped your jaw off.
Your brother groaned dramatically in front of your face, now he was annoying. His friends behind the couch laughing at this. "Uh up!" You grunted shut up, throwing the frozen solid bag into his gut, making him groan at your strength. Yup, that was the strength of a grand chief granddaughter.
"You'll pay for that." He pointed at you with a panted breath. Uh oh. You stood up, prepared to get chased, but your brother's long legs got to you faster and push you onto the couch, kneeing you in the stomach and a hand on your upper chest, near your neck.
"Don't break my couch!" Emily screamed in horror as the couch scrapped against the hardwood floors, lifting some of the wax that made the floor shiny. "My floors!" This time it was sam who screamed in horror when the floors he built get scrapped up. You screamed against your brother's palm, four of his fingers digging into your cheek as he snatched your jaw back in place.
A single tear leaves your eye as you glared at him, a whimper leaving your throat once he stepped off of you. "You... bitch." You cursed in pain as you held onto your jaw, chewing down on nothing in an attempt to grow used to the pain, which you did.
"Told you you'd pay," Jacob smirks as you sat up weakly, wiping the tear that fell down your chin. You scoffed, leg extending quickly, making him fall onto his back with a groan.
"Oh... Christ!" He gasped for air, Quil and Paul bursting into laughter as they surround the male rolling the floor. "oh come on, toughen up Jakie poo!" Jared teases as he walks through the door with a grin on his face.
He heard what had happened from the lot thanks to the strong hearing. "Screw off..." your brother scoffs as he gets picked up by Quil. The two of you make eye contact as you slouched back on the couch, he bucked at you but you didn't flinch, the action causing you to roll your eyes.
"What happened to jakie poo?" An unfamiliar voice speaks up before the screen door fully opened, everyone gasps and heads to the person in question as you fished out the box of cigarettes and the cheap white lighter that had your initials on it.
"Embry! Ugh finally! Being with these two make my back itch!" Embry? This catches your attention. Cigarette hanging loosely between your lips, you look back to see everyone surrounding their friend, backs facing you.
"Yeah, I can only imagine with jacobs moping and whining." This makes you grin, your puffy jaw going down in size. You stood up to go greet the other member of the pack, hand coming up to your jaw in hopes that it stops throbbing.
You threw the cig on the couch before walking over to the giants, standing beside Leah and Jared who made no effort in joining the shirtless group hug.
"You wouldn't believe who joined the pack," Quil said with a cheesy grin. You couldn't see it but you knew it was there, it always was. "Another one? Wait, wouldn't that mean another bloodsucker came into town?" His town shifted into one serious.
Oh.
Sam sighed. "Yeah. Our friends are starting to get a little bit bold." He says. You heard some shifting, he probably was switching his leg. "Even then... they may not know we exist, but they know forks is Yellow-eyed territory. They must think they're weak. So they're hunting on this land." Embry says.
"And with the mind reader gone that gives them an advantage," Leah spoke up beside you. "Don't forget future teller." That time it was Jared. This draws attention to the two of you, the boys moving out of the way to officially include you in the conversation, Leah, you, and Jared standing in the middle with an Embry standing in front of the door.
With arms crossed and eyes still boring to the orange oak flooring, you listen to everything being said.
Mind reader, future teller, yellow-eyed, our friends... your stomach felt so queasy, it disgusted you. And your face showed it.
It started to make sense. Small pieces finally connecting, it made you feel so slow, so...hurt... you were so hurt. You thought you were going crazy back at the wedding, but no that was just the surface. The silent communication between the two siblings-were actual conversations! They did that right in front of you! They played you! For a white girl who just moved back into town...
Suddenly everything seems to be going so fast. How long have you been out of this loop? Who exactly did you date from sophomore year up until a few weeks ago?
They're vampires?! For how long?! Did they ever try to kill me??
Did he ever want to kill me?
A breath left your parted lips. You could feel your heartbeat. You placed your now sweaty palm against the worn-down tank top that separated your hand from the fast-beating artery. It felt like when you had a bad trip with weed when you were 13, but worse. Harder and harder, it felt as if it would come out of your mouth.
Ouch. That pain... not only pain but that utter disappointment and disgust you felt for yourself for even letting it happen!
You were so focused on trying not to panic, you didn't even realize how heavy you were breathing, or the familiar vapor that released from your pours when you were stressed. You didn't even notice that you dropped to your knees until Leah grabbed onto your arm to prevent you from hurting yourself.
Jacob's eyes widened, movements fast as he pushed Quil and Seth out of the way to get to you.
"Hey! Hey! If you do this then what was it for?! What was all the training, the pain, that -constant burning for?! Come on you've been doing so well! Y/N listen to me! Calm down and breathe!" You could hear your brother shout, Sam and Leah already down on your sides as your shaking widened eyes glared down at Quils sandals, needing something to focus on or else you'll rip out of your skin.
"Jacob you could be calmer!" Leah spat out, sarcasm on her tongue, but noticing how your steaming arms went up to cover your ears. It was too much. The voices, the smells, their smells. And it was hot, so hot. You felt your breath quickening.
"No... This is more than her losing control. I think she's having a panic attack." Sams's voice was stern. He's seen this before, shit he felt that before. "Paul take Emma out of the house." You wish you could be offended, but you didn't even trust yourself at the moment.
Suddenly you see feet moving. No no no, I need to concentrate. Calm down! Calm. Down.
You take in a shaky breath, it was so sharp you could've choked on it. "Okay, so what do we do?? I can't just let her sit there, it sounds like her heart is about to burst!" "Jacob!, seriously!" Leah whispers yell, irritated by the way the younger lacked common sense. And the yelling! Seriously! "You can! And you will! If you try to help her you might fuck around and end up without an arm. This is not like comforting Bella, Jacob."
This seems to shut you brother's mouth up, the sound of him scoffing and grinding his teeth together making you want to tear your hair out. "Let her handle this by herself. Or else she'll just rely on you every time this happens." The wood creaks as the Alpha stands to his feet, then it was Leah copying him.
How embarrassing could this day get? You thought to yourself. First, it was the mid-air nakedness, now you're sitting here having a midlife crisis in front of all these men.
"I don't think it's working..." it was Seth to speak next. Sad eyes look down at his second sister, shaking and scared. It hurt to watch. "Yeah- maybe we should do something... it's already been a few minutes-" "she'll calm down eventually." Sam cuts off Quil. The young wolf clenched his teeth as he watches you, his best friend, take in deep shallow breaths.
It looked like breathing hurt as your eyebrows stayed pushed together, eyes clenched in pain.
Jacob already sent him myself to a corner, jaw tightly shut as he watched you slouch on your knees. He hated this. If only he took the alpha role when he had the chance. "Embry- just what do you think you're doing?" "Sam- seriously have some empathy. You didn't do this with Leah, so you're letting her go through it? If I lose an arm then screw it, it'll be gone." The floorboards vibrate with each step he took toward you.
This time it was Sam who was lost for words. He couldn't help but feel like a hypocrite.
He watched as Embry stood in front of you, confusion on his face, he's never had to be the one to comfort a newly turned wolf. That was Jared or Jacob's job.
Whatever he'd do, it would be better than just letting you struggle to catch your breath. Sam wasn't the comforting type when it came to his Alpha work. He thinks tough love will make you stronger, to help you get over your fear or pain the fastest.
But in reality, it just makes it harder to come to him for some older brother advice. Maybe Emily could change that.
"Um...we should leave them.." Leah spoke up, clearing her throat and shooting a glare at your brother and then her brother. "and yes I'm talking about you as well." she says, knocking shoulders with sam as she made her way out the front door. Jacob hesitated, and so did Sam, but soon it was just you and Embry in the house.
"well.." Embry gulps down nervously as he stared at the top of your head. This was not what he was expecting when he came back into town. He was expecting his mom's smoked fish and potatoes...not comforting his childhood friend that he hasn't spoken to in a year. The relationship between the two of you was simple. He was jacobs older friend. And being around Jacob meant that he'd be seeing you a lot.
It was always short conversations, nothing deep. As soon as Jacob got the football he stood up quickly, said his byes, and ran outside with his friends to play.
You were the mysterious one out of the siblings, always quiet in your journal or sketching something at the dining table, in your favorite chair in front of the window, so no one could see what you were doing. so when you did show some type of interest in what your brother and his friends were doing, he always tried to make friends with you.
He figured you were just the shy type, so whenever Jacob was changing into play clothes or making himself a snack, he would always try to talk to you. I guess the mysterious side of you always made him... interested in you.
When the two of you got older, things of course changed. He had to stop talking to his none-shifter friends, including you and Jacob. But he always watched you from a distance, watching you smile down at your phone as you talked to your boyfriend.. the yellow-eyed freak.
It seemed like his lack of presence never phased you, and maybe that was a good thing, you had a boyfriend at the time, and well... you were his best friend's older sister. Even though it disgusted him every time you rushed to the phone to answer his call, before knowing he was a vampire and after, Embry still found himself glancing over at you.
Sadly it didn't go well as his mom sent him to a discipline camp. then he didn't see you for a year... didn't get to hug you off for college.
But now he's here, nervous as hell, picking at the skin on his nails as he watched you have a panic attack.
It shouldn't be this hard. Was it because every time his mother asked him what was wrong he forced his mouth shut? couldn't even go to her to get comfort? or was it because every time he thought he was going to go crazy from the hormonal change, he couldn't go to his pack mates because they were either focused on vampires or the one they imprinted on?
Paul with Rachel, Jacob's sister, Quil with Kim's niece, Jared with Kim, and sam with Emily. And don't get him going about Jacob and his obsession with his childhood hood friend who's married to the worst person in the world. At least his situation isn't that bad. He might've been lonely, but he's grateful fate didn't allow him to suffer for the one he loved.
But for now, he doesn't even know what love feels like. He thinks.
"um..." he blinks, before taking in a deep breath and bending down, making sure you had your respect space. This shouldn't be so hard, so why is this so awkward... rolling his eyes, the male tilted his head, in hopes to catch your eyes, but they stayed covered, your hot arms covering your face to feel grounded.
"I know... that this is hard.." he started, staring at the hot pink scrunchy that tangled in your hair, the scrunchy Bella gave to you. "Trust me when I say that... all of this information, swarming your mind, it gets...it gets better... You trusted someone that you truly didn't know..." he clears his throat as you took a sniff, snot threatening to roll down, but you weren't that heartbroken to embarrass yourself like that.
"Okay-okay screw this." He couldn't take the awkward comforting speech. He's going to try his best, in the way he'd want someone to comfort him. Not in a corny rom-com way that's too corny for his taste. "Hey, hey I need you to look at me... Please." Your heart was fast, but it stopped for just a second when you heard the sincerity in his voice.
It was weird getting male attention from someone who wasn't your dad or Jacob. You would say Edward but...we know now that it wasn't sincere.
His beg was a whisper, but from the quietness of the house, it was so clear. You lifted your head, it was slow, and you hesitated. You hated being weak in front of men, yet it's all you've been doing lately.
you took another sniff, before looking the other way, too embarrassed to look into his eyes, which was hypocritical since you hated the lack of eye contact when it came to others. "Hey. You know, this would be easier if you could look at me." His lips twitched in a slight smile, his brown eyes capturing your side profile, noticing how mature your face got in just a year.
it felt like he missed so much.
Rolling your eyes, you wiped off your wet face, and turned your head, with an attitude you could confidently say you got from your mom, you tilted your head and locked eyes with him.
W O O S H.
It was as if we stared into each other's eyes for hours. Our hearts synced together, our souls attaching, impossible for them to separate unless death is our option.
I couldn't see anything but him, yet my vision was clear, I could see anything, everything. it was like the world evolved around us, no one in the universe but Embry and I.
Suddenly I forgot about all of my problems, what was I crying about? why is my heart pacing so fast like a drum? it's been so long since I've felt this stress-free, this problem free.
That's not normal.
"What just happen..." your voice was a mere whisper.. it was as low as it ever was. But he still heard you, of course, he did. Embry wasn't doing any better, he wasn't panicking but he felt like he should've been. Why was it so hard to look away from your eyes?
"I think we just imprinted on each other."
what?

Not sure how todo these but could you maybe make a part 2 of edwards basterd where y/n meets Bella if you haven’t already? You don’t half to just wanted to ask.
So, I always planned on doing a part two for this. But given the amount of requests I had and the fact I was working on The ginger Cullen chapter four meant I had a lot to write. But, since this technically counts as a request I can justify writing it so I hope you enjoy it. I also know not everyone reading this is austisic but I wanted to use this as an opportunity to show what some autisic kids go through be it from their peers or their “caretakers' ' as I know how it feels with both. So I hope you receive this well and this is a chance to treat those with autism better.
Your short time with the Cullen family and Embry had been nice. Esme loved to cook your favorite meals and always made enough for Embry to have some witch the wolf greatly appreciated, as he loved to spend any time he could being with you. Carlisle was your personal doctor and a good one at that. He knew how to get you to open up about an injury faster than anyone, even Edward had issues doing that. Alice of course loved to use you as a dress up doll. Since Reneeseme grows so fast she has more time to get clothes for you as while you are half vampire you age at a normal rate. So, you are the only four year old in forks to wear Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Versace. Embry laughs at the look on your face whenever It’s time for another outfit fitting. Jasper does TRY to raine in his mate but well, It doesn’t work but he does try. Rosalie loves to teach you about cars which is easy considering your gift of seeing people's memories just by looking into someone’s eyes. She also gets you model cars and loves to help build them. Emmett is the one to teach you sports and you love football, basketball and kickball. You look at Emmett as your older brother as he’s such a child at heart. Emmett is also the one to stay with you during thunderstorms while the others play baseball.
Your sister, Renesme, loves you but doesn't spend a lot of time with you as you’d like. Jacob always tries to include you and Embry with the two of them but your older sister just isn’t that interested in you. It’s nothing personal but unfortunately Renesme takes after her mother as much as her father.
Embry is a big brother to you but everyone knows that as you get older his feelings will change and no one cares. Edward knows embry would never hurt you and is the perfect match for you. Embry loves spending every waking moment he can with you and makes sure you’re never alone. While Embry can’t take you on patrol with him he does leave you with Emily and you LOVE to help Emily cook for the pack. Embry moved into the pack house a bit after he imprinted on you as he couldn’t stand his mother’s questions and accusations. Embry desperately wishes you could meet his mother but until Sam and the counsel knew for sure who Embry’s father is, they wouldn’t approve telling Tiffaney Call about the pack and intern about Embry’s Imprint. Embry also had a room at the Cullens as It was immensely painful to be away from you for more than forty five minutes. Rose raises objections to how close Embry is to you but they fall on deaf ears as Embry has Edward’s trust, speaking of Edward.
Edward is the best daddy you could EVER ask for. He always gets you up in the morning and gives you a morning bath and as many hugs as you ask for no matter how wet you are. Edward loves to look at your green eyes and it’s trippy for Edward to see that used to be his all those years ago. You were quiet and reserved around your daddy. It wasn’t that you didn’t like or trust him but you were always shy. The only people who understand are Embry and your daddy. Your daddy understood because he could hear your thoughts and that gave you a close bond with him. One Edward never shared with Renesmee as his little girl grew up too fast literally. Embry understood because he was that kid. Embry didn’t know his father and was always teased because of that. Embry was shy, reserved and cautious, only speaking when he had to. So if anyone understood you without hearing your thoughts it’d be Embry.
Edward was protective of you, and you didn’t mind a bit. It was a welcomed change from your mom who would leave you with your grandma and go partying. You listened to your daddy and Family as you understood it was for your protection. Sometimes you have difficulty reading and getting distracted and social cues are hard as well. Not to mention that you get overwhelmed by a lot of people and you could be overstimulated by anything and had preferences on what textures were okay for you. Carlisle was able to diagnose you with being on the autism spectrum within two weeks of being with the Cullens. This only endeared you to the wolfpack even more. They viewed you as a pup that needed a bit more help than other pups. It was the same with the Cullens. They made accommodations and helped you adjust and made sure you weren’t uncomfortable. And so far it was going great! But now you had to meet Bella or your stepmother.
Ever since you came to live with your daddy Bella stayed away. Whether it be in Alaska with the other vegetarian coven or managing to visit her mother, she made it known she didn’t like you. Not to your face of course but it was clear to everyone that she didn’t like you. But, for some reason she insisted on coming back to meet you after she was told of your autism.
You were sitting on the back patio with Embry in his wolf from on your left side. You absentmindedly ran your hand through his fur. You LOVED Embry’s fur, it was safe texture number one and you loved anytime Embry would let you pet his fur. You had a nervous posture and it didn’t take a genus to determine why you were on edge. You wanted to meet your stepmom but you had this feeling in your gut. You felt like you knew Bella because of the people’s memories you’ve seen her in but you also knew you were the reason she’s been away from forks and that made you apprehensive.
You giggle as Embry licks your cheek. While Embry’s wolf tongue isn’t exactly a safe texture you don’t stop him as you know it’s the only way for Embry to show affection in wolf form. Embry nudges your shoulder with his snout causing your giggiels to turn into laughter. Embry’s ears perked up as he heard the door to Bella’s car open and close. “She’s here?” You asked in a weak voice. The wolf’s nod told you all you needed to know. You were nervous and could feel a meltdown coming. You wish you’d already met Bella when you first arrived at the Cullens. You know of Bella’s animosity but you just hoped the time away softened her views. You could hear your daddy telling Bella about the ins and outs of your autism. Your nerves were skyrocketing and Embry felt it through the bond. You see, because of your autism and how sometimes you could go non verbal the imprint created a way for you two to communicate and it was a way for Embry to know how to help. You felt a hand on your shoulder and you knew who it was instantly. “Hey daddy.” You said it so quietly that if your daddy wasn’t a vampire he wouldn’t have heard. “What’s wrong buddy?” Edward asked softly to demonstrate in front of Bella how to deal with your autism. Edward knew what was wrong but he wanted you to use your words so you could get used to telling people how you felt or what you wanted when Embry or himself weren’t around. “Nervous about meeting Bella.” The smile on Edward’s was sweet and understanding and you couldn’t have felt more at peace. “Oh buddy, It’ll be okay you’ll see. How about I go make a snake for you and you get to know Bella, huh?” You were hesitant but the look on your daddy’s face told you that you were safe and you had nothing to fear. You nodded shyly as you liked the idea that your daddy guaranteed that Bella was nice. The mind reader nodded back with a smile at his son and went to the kitchen. As soon as Edward was in the house Bella walked to you and Embry was on alert as he knew Edward told Bella not to approach without warning.
“So, you’re the retard bastard, huh?” Embry gave a warning growl but if Bella heard she didn’t show it. You flinched at the haterade in her voice and your anxiety went through the roof. You did what your daddy told you and stood up and tried to walk into the house but Bella pushed you back down. Embry stood up, still in his wolf form and edged closer to you and her. “Shut up mutt! What’s wrong? Too dumb to defend yourself? Need daddy and a mutt to do it for you?” The amount of disgust in her voice was making you uncomfortable and you wanted to leave. Embry stepped closer as you could hear The other Cullen family members rushing outside. But, Bella went to slap you. Embry lept at Bella and you bolted into the forest much to your daddy’s and Embry’s dismay. You kept running farther and farther away from the Cullen house. You stop running as you see a black wolf step out of the bushies and you recognize it as Sam. You wanted to run more but Then Paul came out of the bushes. Then Jacob, then Jared, Then Quil, Then Leah and then finally, Seth stepped out in his human form.
“Easy Y/N, we’re not here to hurt you. We just wanna make sure you don’t get hurt. Embry called, they’re dealing with Bella right now but your dad couldn’t come get you right now. So, he called us to help and we’d do anything to help you, pup.” For some reason your breathing calmed down. You were deathly afraid of making your daddy mad at you. Your mom never noticed your autism and was a bit harsh, punishing you for the smallest infraction. Edward had only really had one rule for you. Don’t go into the forest unsupervised. And technickley you did just that and you were afraid of your daddy’s reaction. You knew he wouldn’t hit you like your mommy used to but you were afraid that your daddy would keep you away from Embry and at this point that would feel as bad as any beating would. So, you felt immense relief hearing your daddy wasn’t mad at you.
“So, until your daddy or Embry can get you how bout you come back with us to uncle Sam and auntie Emily’s house?” That sounded good to you. You LOVED to be around uncle Sam. You knew Sam was Embry’s half brother making him your uncle for the time being. Sam adored you and LOVED whenever he could babysit you. He’s probably the one who understands your autism the most after your daddy and Embry.
Sam lowered himself, in wolf form to the ground on his belly and let you ride on his back. You were holding back tears as the events between you and Bella finally set in. You had your neck nuzzled into Sam’s fur like it was a lifeline. You just wanted hugs and to be told it would all be okay. You don’t know how long it took but eventually Sam had Seth pick you up so Sam could shift back into a human. The rest went to go to the Cullens house to help as Seth carried you into the house where Emily was already waiting with your favorite kind of cookie.
It seemed like hours to you as you sat in uncle Sam’s lap just drinking milk and calming down. Seth eventually had to join the patrols but you were left in very capable hands with uncle Sam and aunt Emily. You mentioned how you were afraid of being in trouble with your daddy and Embry. Sam had this look on his face and it told you something was wrong but he wouldn’t tell you what was going on but you were used to that. You knew the phrase “Pups don’t need to be worried about big wolf business”. It was around eight at night, after dinner, Embry and your daddy walked through the door and you lept from uncle Sama’s arms just happy that your daddy and Embry came back for you. This joy was short-lived as you saw yours and Embry’s suitcases.
“D-Daddy? W-what's wrong?” You heard the shaking in your voice and you hated how you sounded. “Buddy, Me, you and Embry are going up to Alaska for a bit. It’ll be a bit of a vacation and when we come back you won’t have to worry about Bella anymore, okay bud?” you felt saddened at the fact that you had forced your daddy away from Bella. You keep forgetting about your daddy’s gift. “Bud, listen to me. We’re going away to give Bella to either find a new place to live as she’s no longer welcomed in Forks or for her to reconsider her actions. You’re not forcing me away from her. This is so you don’t have to be afraid of being harmed, my prince. You did nothing wrong. You’re my top priority. So, don’t feel bad. Now, how bout we go see Auntie Tanya. Does that sound good?”
So that’s how you found yourself in the backseat of Edward’s Volvo with your head on Embry’s shoulder. Your head was spinning and you wanted to just forget all the stuff that had happened that day. Embry was texting his pack making sure that If Bella didn’t reform and she didn’t go willingly then Embry got first dibs. Edward kept glancing at you through the rear view mirror. His smile was huge but you were too tired to notice. “Sleep well, pup. You're safe, we got you.” And the heaviness got too much for you to fight. You drifted off to sleep and you could have sworn that you felt Embry’s wolf tongue lick you cheek to let you know you were safe. That you would ALWAYS be safe.

" you know you're grounded, right? "
With Twilight... ps. Congrats, congrats, congrats. I love watching you grow! It also makes me feel really good about myself for being a OG 🤣
You know you’re grounded, right?
A/N: Thank you so much! And hi, OG friend!<3 Merry Christmas, everyone.
Jasper delicately arched an eyebrow from his place in your open doorway. His arms were crossed and there was a sliver of a smirk crossing his lips as he watched you do... whatever you were doing.
Really, he had no clue. For a vampire, you certainly emanated a particular vibe that screamed human. Or insanity was perhaps the better option, considering you were currently attempting to step on a tree branch from your bedroom window.
Clearing his throat, he moved into the room, amusement glittering in his eyes. “You know you’re grounded, right?” he called out, instinctively leaping into action when you jumped at the sudden voice and almost toppled out of the window.
Jasper grabbed you before you could, wrenching you back inside, arms wrapped around you so tight your feet didn’t even touch the ground. He held you there, staring down at you with a look you’d come to recognise as: “you almost gave my unbeating heart an aneurism.” You grimaced, looking hesitantly up at him. There was really nowhere else you could look in the position he had you in.
“Sorry?” you tried, and a corner of his lips lifted before he set you back on your feet.
“What were you doing?” he asked, hands on your shoulders, and your eyes seemed to light up in a not so positive way, as though you were remembering something you’d since forgotten about.
Pulling away from Jasper’s hold, you raced back to the open window and resumed your previous position, hanging your upper body out and stretching a hand towards... something. To placate his rising worries, Jasper moved to stand next to you, peering with narrowed eyes out at the trees and attempting to see for himself what had you so intent on seemingly escaping your bedroom.
“I’m not grounded, by the way,” you stated as you leaned out a bit more, eyes scanning the trees. Jasper’s hands ached to grab a handful of your hoodie, just to keep you from falling. As though you didn’t literally control air.
“That’s not what Carlisle said,” he told you instead.
“Dad doesn’t know how to ground me. He just-” You put one foot on your windowsill once you’d apparently caught sight of what you’d been looking for- “confined me to the house.”
Jasper relented and shot an arm out to grab you. “You did send a basketball through his new windows.”
“Emmett’s fault. Can you let go?”
“Can you tell me what you’re doing?”
You yanked at your hoodie, but your brother did not yield. Finally, you let out a frustrated sigh and placed your foot back on the floor of your bedroom. Jasper loosened his hold but did not let go, all too knowledgeable of your swift escape tactics.
“There’s a cat stuck in a tree.”
Jasper’s brows shot up. Seriously? Was that it? He spared a moment to rack his brain and come up with any other reason it could have possibly been, but returned empty handed. He blinked. “And... how is hanging out the window going to help with that predicament?”
“Well, my original plan was to climb onto the tree and go and grab it, but I don’t think that’ll work.” You shook his hand, now loosened considerably, from your back and turned to the window, pointing with a finger. “Do you see it?”
Jasper stood next to you. It was difficult to see the tabby cat among the leaves, but he spotted it after a couple seconds, crouched and shaking on on a thin branch that definitely wouldn’t have held the nimblest of vampires. “So what was your next plan?” he asked.
“To use the wind.” You crossed your arms over your chest and twisted your face in thought. “But it just makes him more scared.”
Jasper breathed a short chuckle. “Y/N, if it’s emotions hindering you...”
You took a moment to process his words before your mouth fell open in a victorious grin and you gratefully stepped aside, making room for your brother. Jasper had tried it once, on a whim, to see if he could calm the deer he was about to sink his teeth into, and it’d worked. At least, he thought it had. He hadn’t been able to ask the deer, unfortunately.
But he’d done it many times since, and his siblings had lovingly tacked the title of ‘Animal Whisperer’ onto him.
So, rolling his shoulders back, he focused his energy on the cat, letting it hum through and out his body and wrap itself around the animal, like a comforting blanket. He felt its fear and soothed it, and, sure enough, the cat, after a moment of contemplating, seemed to gain a newfound confidence. It stood up, scanning the branch, and put one paw in front of the other.
“Push it towards us,” Jasper said, and you reached an arm out, commanding the air to help move the cat to the windowsill before the branch snapped under its weight. It mewed softly as the air fluffed its hair, big eyes blinking and completely unaware of the creaking beneath it. You were practically jumping on your toes from sheer anticipation. Jasper, meanwhile, stretched himself half out the window--oh, hypocrisy--and grasped the cat by the scruff of its neck, pulling it quickly inside before the branch cracked and fell into two, the end half swinging downwards.
The cat jumped from his arms into yours, immediately rubbing its head under your chin and purring affectionately. “You’re very welcome,” you said with a smile before turning puppy-dog eyes up to your brother. “Do you think Dad’ll let us keep him?”
Jasper snorted and extended an arm to let the cat sniff his hand. Its little wet nose pressed against his skin before it nudged him with its head, and he gave it a small pat before stepping away. “I doubt it. You shouldn’t play with your food.”
You audibly gasped and slapped at his chest, turning the cat away from him despite his playful grin. “We don’t eat cats, Jaz.”
“You don’t. Better not let that one roam the house.”
“Get out.” You tossed a pillow at him, using your aerokinesis to expertly send it soaring through the sky and straight for his smirking face. He dodged it and pointed a finger at you, walking backwards towards the door.
“Better watch out, little sis.”
“I hate you!”
“Meow.”

Felix Volturi x Tall Cheetah shapeshifter Reader
This is after the battle to see if Renesmee is an immortal child or not.
The Volturi kings send Felix, Demetri and the twins to do a check up on The Cullens. Felix meets his mate during this checkup. She is really tall like 6 ft 2, has several tattoos and He was not expecting that. She has long black hair and tan skin. She also has martial arts and does boxing. She also plays piano and can sing. He does not find out she can shapeshift until they go back to the castle where Caius- his dramatic ass thinks the reader is wolf shapeshifter because she does smell human. He insults her but she just laughs not affected and shapeshift into a cheetah, walks over to him and demands head scratches.
I feel like Felix sometimes is insecure because of his height because he towers over everyone. He needs some love.
Feel free to change anything.
Good morning 🌞 let’s get this show on the road
❝unexpected bond❞

The aftermath of the tense standoff with the Volturi left the Cullen family both relieved and apprehensive. The fate of their half-mortal, half-vampire daughter, Renesmee, had hung in the balance. Aro's cold, calculating eyes had searched for signs of an immortal child, while Edward and Bella stood on edge, defending their unique family.
Weeks had passed since that encounter, and the Cullens had settled back into their tranquil existence in the lush forests of Forks. The peace, however, was punctuated by the unexpected arrival of four Volturi guards: Felix, Demetri, and the formidable twins, Alec and Jane.
Esme greeted them with a cautious smile, an attempt at diplomacy to mask the tension that always lingered when the Volturi were concerned. Carlisle, as always, maintained an air of calm professionalism, ready to cooperate in whatever manner necessary. The Cullen clan, a united front, gathered in the spacious living room to face the impending scrutiny.
Alec's sharp gaze swept over the room, his gift already on display, a quiet but potent reminder of the danger he posed. Jane's small frame stood beside him, her lips curled in a faint, knowing smile, her power too well-known to the Cullens to be underestimated.
Demetri, always the mediator, offered a polite nod to the Cullens before his eyes landed on Renesmee, who peered curiously from behind Bella. It was Felix, however, who stepped forward with a mixture of wariness and intrigue.
Standing at an imposing 6 feet 2 inches, Felix's presence was undeniable. His chiseled features and deep-set eyes gave him a rugged charm that belied his lethal nature. His gaze, however, was momentarily diverted from the task at hand when it fell upon you.
You were a surprise, a friend of the Cullens visiting during this critical juncture. Your tall, statuesque form stood out even in the supernatural crowd. Your arms bore an intricate tapestry of tattoos, each telling a story only you could decipher. Felix, who had expected a mere mortal, was taken aback by the intensity of your aura.
You caught his gaze, your own eyes holding a mix of curiosity and apprehension. Meeting the guards of the Volturi was nothing short of unsettling, but it seemed that fate had other plans. As Felix's eyes locked onto yours, something shifted within him. A connection sparked, a pull that neither of you could ignore.
"Ah, the Cullens are never ones to disappoint with their company," Aro's voice cut through the silence, bringing Felix's attention back to the situation at hand. The Volturi king's gaze shifted from you to the rest of the family, his interest piqued by the unexpected dynamics that seemed to be unfolding.
As the examination continued, Felix's thoughts wandered back to you. There was an unspoken understanding, a recognition of something profound. Despite the circumstances, he found himself drawn to you in a way he hadn't anticipated. And in the heart of a tense moment, amidst immortal beings and fragile alliances, a bond was forming that would forever alter the course of both your lives.
Days turned into weeks, and the connection between Felix and you deepened in the most unexpected of ways. While the Volturi guards remained stationed in the area, Felix found himself drawn to your presence like a moth to a flame. From his vantage point, he observed you with a mix of fascination and intrigue.
He learned that you possessed an aura of strength that transcended your physical appearance. The Cullens had mentioned that you were proficient in martial arts, a detail that intrigued Felix immensely. He often watched from a distance as you practiced your forms, your movements precise and controlled. The way you carried yourself spoke of discipline and determination, qualities he couldn't help but admire.
On weekends, he noted, you would disappear for a few hours, only to return with a subtle glow of satisfaction. A conversation overheard revealed that you indulged in boxing lessons, a fact that amused Felix. The contrast between your ethereal appearance and your fierce pursuits was nothing short of captivating.
But it was during a quiet evening at the Cullens' home that Felix discovered yet another layer of your complexity. Unnoticed by everyone, he observed you seated at the grand piano in the living room. As your fingers danced across the keys, a melody emerged, one that resonated deep within him. The haunting notes held a mixture of sadness and longing, a reflection of the immortal existence he had come to accept.
But it wasn't just your instrumental prowess that held Felix's attention. To his surprise, you began to sing, your voice a clear and melodious accompaniment to the piano's melancholic tune. The combination was nothing short of enchanting, and for a moment, the world outside seemed to fade away.
As you sang, Felix's thoughts were drawn back to the bond that had formed between you. He recognized that there was more to you than met the eye, a complexity that mirrored his own existence. The pull he felt was inexplicable, a connection that defied reason. It was a bond that transcended words and logic, one that left him both bewildered and oddly comforted.
In the days that followed, Felix found himself drawn to your presence even more. He would steal moments to watch you, to absorb the essence of who you were. He marveled at the way you navigated your interactions with the Cullens, your genuine friendship evident in the way you interacted with them.
Despite his guarded nature, Felix felt a growing desire to know you better. He longed to understand the intricacies of your mind, the stories behind your tattoos, and the experiences that had shaped you into the person you were. It was a longing that both excited and terrified him, a vulnerability he had never anticipated feeling.
And so, as the days turned into nights, Felix found himself walking a delicate path, teetering on the edge of a newfound connection that had the power to change his eternal existence in ways he could never have foreseen.
The passage of time had done little to quell the ever-present tension between the Cullens and the Volturi. The familiar chill ran down their spines as the Volturi kings, Aro, Caius, and Marcus, along with their guards, descended upon the Cullens' tranquil abode once more.
As the Volturi leaders entered the Cullens' living room, their piercing eyes took in every detail. Aro's keen interest scanned the faces before him, Marcus's distant gaze seemed to penetrate the very souls of those present, and Caius's disdainful sneer barely concealed his contempt.
Caius, always the most outspoken and critical of the three kings, couldn't help but fixate on you as he surveyed the room. There was something different about your scent, something that didn't quite align with the familiar fragrance of humans. His lip curled in a silent snarl as his suspicions grew.
"Ah, the Cullens have expanded their company since our last visit," Caius drawled, his voice dripping with disdain. "A wolf shapeshifter, perhaps? It seems our hosts have chosen rather exotic companions."
The room fell silent, the tension palpable as his words hung in the air. However, instead of appearing offended or intimidated, you let out a musical laugh, the sound ringing with genuine amusement.
"Oh, mister, how your imagination runs wild," you replied, your tone light and teasing. "I'm not a wolf shapeshifter. But I do have a little secret."
As you spoke, you felt a thrill of excitement ripple through you. The moment had come to reveal a side of yourself that had remained hidden until now. With a subtle shift, your form shimmered, and before the astonished eyes of the Volturi, you transformed into a sleek and powerful cheetah.
The room erupted in shocked gasps and murmurs as the cheetah prowled forward, your eyes holding a mixture of confidence and challenge. In an audacious move, you approached Caius, who seemed momentarily taken aback by the transformation.
"Seems you've made a miscalculation, dear Caius," you purred, your voice taking on an unexpected and exotic resonance. "I'm no ordinary companion. And I demand some respect... and head scratches."
With a surprising mix of amusement and disbelief, Caius hesitantly extended his hand to scratch the cheetah's head. The gesture seemed almost absurd given the circumstances, yet there was an undeniable camaraderie between you and the normally rigid Volturi king.
The room was filled with a strange mixture of tension and astonishment, with even the usually composed Felix appearing surprised by your transformation. His eyes held a mixture of wonder and understanding, as if he were finally realizing the depth of your uniqueness.
As the encounter unfolded, it became clear that you were a force to be reckoned with, a blend of strength and enigma that defied expectations. And in that moment, a silent understanding passed between you and Felix—a recognition of the bond that went beyond the boundaries of the supernatural world they inhabited.

could you do a Carlisle blurb for touching 32, 47 & 21?
𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 || 𝐜.𝐜
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: carlisle cullen x reader
(𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝)
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 0.7k
𝐚/𝐧: i hope you enjoy this anon! i need myself a carlisle 😫
“Hi, I'm here to see Dr. Cullen. Is he in his office by any chance?” You happily approached the front desk where the receptionist, Diane, sat. Taking in the practically empty lobby, you assumed that today wasn’t as busy as usual. This meant that Carlisle was probably stowed away in his office working on paperwork that had piled up for weeks now.
Diane, as the name plaque said, pulled down her glasses to read the computer screen, her eyebrow slightly raising as she focused. Forks Hospital had been cycling through receptionists lately. Also, you didn’t visit Carlisle as often, so your face wasn’t too familiar to the newer staff.
After some aggressive scrolling, Diane peered back up at you, her facial expression being cheerless, quite the opposite from your own.
“It seems that he is. Do you have an appointment?”
You were wondering when this would happen at the hospital. Again, the newer staff didn’t know you as well so you couldn’t blame Diane for her question.
With some hesitation, you replied. “Um, no…but he’s my husband and I just wanted to stop by to see him.”
Her attitude instantly changed at this revelation and you had to stifle a giggle. You found it a bit funny that she thought you were of importance because you were married to Dr. Cullen. Although Carlisle didn’t carry himself like a big shot, it seemed that the rest of the hospital workers thought otherwise.
“Oh yes, you can go back and see him now! He shouldn’t be busy.” Offering Diane a polite smile, you quickly walked down the hall to catch Carlisle before he went back out on the floor. Knowing that man, he couldn’t sit still for long.
The wooden door to Carlisle’s office was slightly cracked and you ever so quietly stepped in. You could see your husband hunched over his desk in what looked to be the most uncomfortable office chair. He was deep in thought, pen in one hand that was scribbling away. His other lab coat clad arm was on the chair’s flimsy armrest. You were somewhat surprised that he hadn’t noticed your presence yet. Setting down the bag of lunch on the couch, you walked up behind Carlisle’s chair, lightly tapping his elbow to get his attention while placing a tiny kiss on the top of his head.
Almost instantly, Carlisle spun around the chair to face you. A look of adoration made up his expression as he stood to greet you.
“I thought I heard you, darling.” Carlisle kissed your brow, placing a hand on the small of your back and leading you to the couch where you both sat.
“It looked like you were really focused so I didn’t want to interrupt.” You noticed the forgotten back of lunch and leaned forward to grab it.
“You could never interrupt.” Carlisle had an ever so charming smile on his face and you returned to gesture.
“I figured I’d stop by to see you, but I saw this amazing lunch place on the way over. Oh how I wish you could try it!” You shared a laugh with your husband who just shook his head.
“Well you have perfect timing, my love. I was just about to call you because it’s been quite a slow day. It appears that the paperwork is never ending though.”
As you took in Carlisle’s features while he talked, you noticed that he looked absolutely exhausted. You wanted nothing more than for him to take a moment and relax. Carlisle was so devoted to this hospital that at times he was too devoted.
“How about this, babe? I’ll finish up my lunch and then I’ll help you with whatever I can.”
Carlisle’s response was delayed as he didn’t want you to feel obligated to stay here. You could read his hesitation and you then placed your hand on his knee to reassure him that it was fine.
“What would I do without you, my darling wife?”
You playfully shrugged your shoulders, with a mouth full of sandwich causing Carlisle to slip out a small chuckle.

GTA // Jasper Hale x Reader
I firmly believe Jasper always needs someone to help him lighten up so that’s what this self indulgent blurblet is.
Prompt from: Buzzfeed Unsolved Sentence starters
Yes i know i use this gif a lot. No i will not stop. He’s beautiful
Jasper looked oh so serious, leaned up against the outside of the SUV. Every marble sculpted muscle was locked in place, jaw clenched, eyebrows furrowed, long legs stretched out in front of him, back pressed against the driver’s side that was carefully angled away from parking lot cameras. While Edward and Carlisle tended to Bella and Emmett and Alice made preparations to erase the evidence of the night’s escapades, Jasper’s job was to stay with the SUV until Alice called for him- and he was very clear that you were not to leave his sight again. (The honey blonde had been very open with his disapproval of yours and Bella’s disappearing act, and how did he put it, ‘reckless, careless, rash, thoughtless, foolhardy, imprudent, negligent, temerarious, half cocked, suicidal plans to get yourself killed meddling with things you couldn’t possible pray to escape’).
Bella had taken the brunt of the the attack, as she made you wait outside. By the time James’ got around to trying to hurt you, Jasper and Edward had already arrived. You had gotten away with nothing but a bruised clavicle and a minor concussion. After arriving to the hospital and getting out of the blood soaked car where he could take a breath of untainted air, he did end up apologizing for quite literally snarling his lecture at you.
Not that it mattered to you. When James’ had slammed you against the wall, you were sure weren’t going to make it out. You didn’t see Edward arrive on the scene, but from when you caught sight of Jasper from beyond James’ sadistic expression… Despite looking like a painting of Ares descending into war, a force of savage, ruthless brutality that should of scared you, just the sight of him gave you hope.
Now with Carlisle’s text that Bella would be alright, nothing could bring down your relieved mood. Your best friend would be alright, you were no longer being hunted, the love of your life was beside you, and soon you would be back in Forks.
"You know, you don’t feel repentant enough for my liking." Jasper muttered, eyeing your dopey expression from his peripheral as you smiled softly at him in the dimly lit parking lot. You couldn’t help it, even with the broody look on his face, the way the orangey glow of the nearest streetlight both illuminated and cast shadows on him was almost entrancing. You waited until he turned to face you. He quirked an eyebrow up as he angled his chin down at you. Cocking your head to the side, you forced an overdone pout.
"How ‘bout now?" You asked, batting your eyes lashes up at him before your pout broke back into a smile.
Jasper just shook his head but he didn’t try to hide his own sideways smile, retraining his sights on something your human eyes couldn’t see. While he was less than pleased with your talent for finding trouble, he had been worried about what they would find when they caught up with you and Bella. It was something of a relief that he had gotten to you to find you mostly in tact with such a cloud of warm, pleasant emotions waiting for him that it was hard to stay upset with you.
When Jasper didn’t indulge your teasing any further, you had to find your entertainment else where. Turning around, you peered into the trunk of the SUV. All of the Cullen’s had been rather vague of how they came upon this car, but upon further inspection you were beginning to piece it together.
From the yoga in the back to the little stick family on the back glass, your brain finally made the connection. Immediately, you dissolved into giggles which melted into to full bodied laughs that made your bruised clavicle ache but you didn’t care.
You laughter only got more hysterical when you caught Jasper’s confused stare. For a moment, Jasper wondered if this was some kind of delayed trauma response, but emotionally you still felt fine. When you caught sight of the stick figure dog on the back window, you actually felt hot tears spring to your eyes.
"What’s so funny?" Jasper asked, watching you try to regain your calm. Your breath was hitching as you managed to stand up straight agin, laughter subsiding as you caught his stare. When his eyebrows shot up, it only prompted another fit of giggles. This time he couldn’t help but chuckle along with you, "What the hell, you little monster?"
Finally, you managed to get yourself under control enough to force a cool voice that was only slightly bemused.
"The fact that you guys steal," You started, motioning over your shoulder at the soccer mom SUV, "That’s really funny to me."
"Really? That’s what this is about? I think Carlisle missed some head trauma."
"Tell me, Jaz, does insurance cover Vampiric Gand Theft Auto?" You grinned, patting the backside of the car behind you. Jasper rolled his eyes, refixing his stoic gaze on passing traffic, quietly muttering.
"The owner will be fairly compensated."
"Don’t worry, the whole criminal bad boy thing works for you, honey."

Always have, always will
300 follower one-shot!
Thank you all so much for the love and support!
A/N: Also, in typical me fashion I've invested a lot in this one and have ended up with something I want more of - AHHHH!
A/N: Used The Twilight Fanon Wiki for some backstory ideas. So thank you to those who contributed to ideas about the British Coven.
Greece circa 1000 AD
Two figures rush down an alley hand in hand, gazing into each other’s eyes. The young man with his fair hair and olive complexion, turns to the young woman beside him and kisses her deeply.
“I love you.” She whispers softly to him.
“I love you Y/N, always have, always will” he says, his voice gravelly and raspy through desire, as he rests his head against Y/N’s.
“When will I see you again Dem?” Y/N whispers as Demetri places another lingering kiss to her lips.
“As soon as I can my love” he promises, before they are interrupted by a dark haired couple entering the alleyway.
They spring apart, Y/N fixing her hair as Demetri inspects the coins in his purse.
As soon as the couple leave, Demetri entwines his fingers with Y/N’s before she places a final quick kiss to his lips.
“I love you Demetri, with all my being.” Demetri smiles a small, sad smile. "I hate that you have to leave."
“I know, I know. But remember. My heart will always belong to you Y/N. Forever." They link little fingers, leaning forward to kiss each other's entwined hand. A small laugh leaving both their lips, they come together once again for one final, desperate kiss.
Catching sight of a tear falling down her cheek, Demetri quickly wipes it away.
"I promise I will see you soon. I promise."
Present Day, Volterra, Italy
"Demetri, Felix, Alec and Jane. We have a mission for you." Marcus calls down the hallway to the group gathered at the end. "Come with me."
"Yes Master." They all reply as they follow him towards the great hall.
"There have been some disturbances in London, we need you to...neutralise it." Aro says quietly.
"Demetri, I need you to look for an old friend...George...we have reason to believe he is involved." Marcus adds, looking to Demetri with a serious look in his eye.
"George? I thought he was dead?" Felix asks, looking between Marcus and Demetri.
"We have reason to believe he is alive. Something, or someone has hidden him all this time from us. The British coven have called upon us to help them." Marcus replies, and Caius' face contorts with disgust.
"The British coven. Ugh. Hilarious how he is asking us for help now, after everything." Caius says bitterly.
Jane and Alec share a look.
"Now now brother. Many years have passed, I'm sure we can forgive Gabriel now. He believes George may have something we want...if we can find him." Aro turns his attention to the twins.
"I know each time you return to England there is a...blip...shall we say. Please keep damage limited." He whispers to them, they both nod turning to follow Demetri and Felix as they walk through the large doors.
"I can't work out what I hate more, going to see Carlisle in wet and cold Washington...or going to see Gabriel in the wet and cold London..." Felix mutters as he peers out at the torrential rain outside.
"Old friends, I promise it isn't always like this." Gabriel announces as he enters the room, looking round at Alec, Jane, Demetri and Felix sat in the entry way of the British Coven's headquarters.
He smiles at those who were once colleagues, friends...to then quickly become enemies when he broke free of the Volturi hold. His dark hair is cut shorter than when Demetri last saw him, styled in a more modern fashion; tall and broad in stature, though still no comparison for Felix's height. To his side is his shield who he introduces to the group as Anna, his 'eyes and ears' in London, he claims.
Demetri scoffs at Gabriel's use of 'friends'. "I'm not sure friends fake their own death to 'escape' from you."
"It was a necessary evil Demetri, I promise you."
"Enough with the pleasantries." Jane states bluntly. "Aro said you have information for us to put an end to these disturbances."
"Still a people person I see Jane." He claps his hands together and motions for them to follow him to his office.
The room is lavishly decorated, with a lavish walnut desk in front of a large window, matching bookcases covering the remaining walls, and two large tan leather sofas in the middle of the room. He gestures to the sofas and the four visitors take a seat.
"What do you have for us Gabriel?" Demetri asks, growing frustrated at the delay, keen to begin tracking George and finishing the mission.
"Information on the attacks. They are making the tabloids, putting us in danger here. We have tried to investigate, but my trackers have come up empty."
He turns to look at Demetri. "Demetri, I am not ashamed to admit that you are still the best tracker I have come across in my many years, I believe you will be able to find him."
"And him is...?" Alec asks.
"George."
"I thought George was one of yours?" Jane questions.
"He was. But he has an unnatural obsession with humans. He has a following of sorts. A cult, the humans would call it. He talks with humans about us, we have begun hearing murmurs in the streets...but we can never work out where he is, we have tried everything to track him."
"So what has made him so difficult to track? Why is he still free to cause such chaos?" Demetri asks, curious about the vampire who has evaded so many talented trackers.
"He has a shield."
"A shield? So what? Like the Cullen?" Alec asks.
"From what Carlisle has told me, no. This shield can block EVERYTHING. And she is powerful enough to protect George's entire coven. We can't track any of them."
"This is what you have said
"So what information do you have?" Demetri asks, growing agitated.
"We know her name."
"And...?" Felix asks expectantly.
"Y/N. We believe her name is Y/N." He replies, then hesitates as he catches a flash of shock on Demetri's face.
Greece circa 1000AD - 6 months after Demetri left Y/N.
Demetri stands in front of the old stone house, looking up at the window where he can usually see the flicker of candlelight. Tonight, the room is in darkness.
Where is she?
Amun had told him to not return to Athens, that it was too risky, as a new born he was dangerous, but he had to find Y/N. He had promised he would come back, and whilst it wasn't his fault that he didn't return, he needed to apologise, needed to see her.
After discovering his gift, he tried to track her straight away, desperate to know she was OK, that she was somewhere safe. The world was not what they thought; it was full of monsters, and now he was one of them.
He sits on the floor in front of her house, pulling his legs up to his chest, and leaning down to rest his head. I'll wait here for her. He decides, he didn't need to sleep now after all.
By the time morning comes, Y/N has still not appeared, and her window is still dark. Just after dawn he hears movement in the house; someone making food, the clattering of pans and clink of plates obvious to his enhanced hearing.
Eventually, the front door opens, and he is greeted by Y/N's father. His face has aged significantly since Demetri had last set eyes on him. His face looks sad, deep lines have formed on his forehead, crinkles at his eyes, and the bags under his eyes tell the tale of many sleepless nights.
Demetri coughs lightly to attract his attention, his sad expression immediately changing from sadness to anger.
"You!" He shouts as he stomps towards where Demetri is standing.
"Where is she? Where is my daughter? What have you done with her?" He asks desperately, his anger quickly dissipating, tears forming in his eyes.
"What?" Demetri asks, panic rising in his chest. "She's missing?"
"Of course she's missing! She went looking for you. Desperate to find you. Kept saying you said you would never leave her, so she had to come find you. She was frantic. I had to lock her in her room. Then one night...she was just...gone. That was three months ago." The tears spill out of his eyes quickly, relentlessly, and he wipes at his cheeks with the palm of his hand.
"...I...I didn't mean to leave her for so long. I meant it, I love her. I didn't want to leave her. I had no choice. I came back for her." A lump forms in Demetri's throat, and he feels the pain of the tears he cannot shed.
Back to the present
"Dem? Are you ok?" Felix whispers, quickly moving to Demetri's side when he realises why the name sounds so familiar. He had heard so many stories about her from Demetri in the hundreds of years they had spent together. She was the only person he remembered from his human life and even though she died over 1000 years ago, he kept his promise, and continued to love her like he had never left.
Demetri snaps out of his thoughts, and returns his attention to Gabriel.
"What can you tell us that can help us track them?" He asks.
Gabriel's eyes sparkle at the thought of his nefarious plan. "The Volturi have come to London...that will be too tempting for George to ignore...and...I may have spread word of your arrival."
"So we are the bait?" Jane asks raising one of her eyebrows at Gabriel.
"It is the only sure way to lure him out of hiding. It will be a challenge dear Jane. It is so unusual for you to be on the back foot, surely this will make things far more interesting for you, will it not?" Gabriel asks, a teasing tone to his voice.
"Where do you need us?" She asks finally.
"This is ridiculous." Alec states, looking back at his sister.
"I agree completely brother. But our mission is to neutralise George, and we cannot do that if we cannot find him." Jane whispers back to Alec.
"Be quiet you two." Demetri whisper shouts back at them as they make it to the clearing in the park.
It's late; the only people in the park are a few people doing a late night jog, but they stay clear of the bizarre group that have gathered dressed in cloaks and dark formal wear.
The group walk towards where Gabriel is standing with two others. Whilst Gabriel talks with Alec and Jane, continuing with the plan that Gabriel knows nothing of the Volturi's arrival, Demetri looks around the dark clearing. He senses that they are being watched, but is unable to pick up any familiar tenors; he closes his eyes to concentrate, reaching out into the darkness to see what he can find. Suddenly a tenor reaches out, loud and clear. It's unusual, but familiar.
Demetri's eyes fly open, darting around in the darkness.
Felix picks up on Demetri's change in demeanour.
"What's happened? What can you see Dem?" He asks as he appears at Demetri's side.
"I can feel her... She's here... It is her Felix." Demetri stutters in reply, eyes still desperately searching the darkness until the tenor disappears, a small glimpse, letting him know she was there, she was alive, before disappearing again.
"She's gone." Demetri whispers to Felix, his expression deflated, and they both turn their attention back to Alec and Jane who are still speaking with Gabriel.
"The Volturi do not have time for silly games Gabriel. The rules have been broken, humans are becoming aware, and we will get to the bottom of it."
"Of course Jane, and I can guarantee you that no rules have been broken by my coven. I do not know who, but it is not us. My hands are clean." Gabriel holds out his hands towards Jane.
"Then who is behind these...issues...if it is not your coven Gabriel?" Felix asks, glancing at members of Gabriel's coven standing behind him.
A deep laugh echoes around the open space.
The owner, shrouded in darkness begins emerging from a sudden mist behind Gabriel's group.
One figure turns into two, then three, then four, until a group of twelve unknown vampires emerge fully from the mist.
Demetri's eyes look closely at the faces of each figure until he locks eyes with one. Y/N. It's her.
She looks the same as she did the last time he saw her. Like it was yesterday. That's why she disappeared. That's why she never came back.
His mind is muddled and confused as he takes her in; their eyes stay connected, neither one wanting to blink or look away. Even when George calls her name, she replies without moving her eyes from Demetri's. The connection between them was obvious to anyone paying them attention, but George's attention was set on Jane and Alec and he was oblivious.
"Pain." Jane says, her eyes fixed on George; nothing happens. A dark smoke begins to leave Alec's fingers, only to be met with a barrier protecting George's entire group. "The shield." Jane reminds Alec, and they eye those gathered either side of George, looking for weakness.
"Ha. That won't work on me, not with my dear Y/N by my side." He gestures to Y/N, who is still watching Demetri with fear in her eyes.
"I had hoped that we had drawn enough attention for the Kings to pay us a visit. But I will have to settle for destroying their favourite pets instead." George laughs manically at the look of shock on Jane's face as she glances to the side at Alec, then back at Felix and Demetri.
"You knew we would come?" Alec asks.
"I knew that Gabriel had been in contact...I have my ways..." George replies, looking behind him as another figure emerges from the shadows. Anna. Gabriel’s shield.
The chorus of gasps from Gabriel's group cause George to smile and chuckle to himself.
“Anna?” Gabriel asks, glancing around at his coven to see if he is the only one shocked by this.
“I’m sorry Gabriel, I had to. It’s for the good of the coven, George has a plan, and they’re stronger than us, we would never have survived. It would have been a slaughter. But if we go with them, if we join them...” she looks hopefully at Gabriel, holding out a hand to him. He shakes his head forcefully; his face contorted in anger.
“Never. We will never join you George. Never.” Gabriel moves to stand beside Demetri. “My loyalty is to the Volturi.”
Jane raises her eyebrows at Gabriel as she looks to the others who nod at the unsaid question.
Demetri looks back out at Y/N, he pleads with her through his eyes and she hesitates for a moment before nodding. Looking towards George for one last time she closes her eyes, taking a deep breath, then nodding again at Demetri.
“Jane, Alec...” he whispers to the twins, "again."
The twins look at each other in confusion before they understand, sharing a final smirk before their gaze returns to George and his group.
"Pain." George immediately falls to the floor, face contorted in pain as he tries to look at you, confusion etched on his face. "Y/N" he screams, "help!"
Y/N doesn't look at him, her focus is on Demetri again as he gestures for her to join him, smiling.
Walking towards the Volturi group Y/M doesn't break her gaze with Demetri until she is by his side; he reaches out a hand to her and she gratefully takes it. A quick hand squeeze of comfort gives her a final boost of confidence and she closes her eyes in concentration again. "He can't hurt us." She whispers to Demetri as she opens her eyes again, leaning her head towards him in comfort.
As the final members of George's coven are destroyed and burnt, Demetri and Y/N gravitate towards each other again. Neither of them having the time to talk, or explain, until now.
"Y/N" Demetri whispers as he grasps hold of her hands and rests his forehead against hers like he always did, gazing deeply into her eyes.
"Dem" Y/N sighs contently as she inhales Demetri's scent, a scent she had craved for hundreds of years.
"I...I...I didn't leave you Y/N...I promise I didn't leave." Demetri stutters, his body desperate to shed tears for hundreds of years of loneliness, of pain, from missing her.
"I know Dem, I know. I wanted to come find you. I missed you so much..." Her voice cracks in pain as she replies. "I didn't get far...but I knew you were out there, I've never forgotten about you, ever...."
As she pauses Demetri leans down to kiss her, her kisses tasting so familiar, as if it were only yesterday that their lips had last touched. Their human bond now even stronger in vampire form.
“I’ve never forgotten either my love, I don’t remember much from my human life, but I remember you, I remember you so clearly.” Demetri replies as he wraps his arms around her waist and leans his head on top of hers.
“I love you” Y/N whispers softly, looking up at him through her eyelashes, he smiles in return.
“And I love you, always have, always will.” They link little fingers, leaning forward to kiss each other's entwined hand. They both laugh at this action, something they had done so many times before, that even after so many years had passed they both still remember. “I meant what I said, all those years ago, do you remember?”
Y/N frowns slightly, fingers still entwined with Demetri’s, she tries desperately to remember.
“My heart will always belong to you Y/N. Forever.” Her face lights up as the words prompt more memories from her human life flood her mind.
"We really have forever now don't we?" Y/N asks, with hope in her voice.
"Forever." Demetri replies, enveloping her with his arms and kissing her passionately.

That’s What Friends Are For (Alec Volturi x Reader)
You were plucked from your human life. You were surrounded by news outlets and missing persons papers. Your face and name plastered all over the place. Given the nature of your sudden disappearance, the circumstances of your life. Your disappearance went worldwide. Your parents, sick with worry and tears running down their face as they begged you to come home for anyone who had you, to let you go. It hurt to think that they'd never find you, they'd never receive the answers.
You couldn't be around anyone, being a newborn vampire made your self-control very limited. All the while, you were reminded that this was not your decision. It was Alec's. Alec considered you his only friend and so naturally, you weren't going to be human for long. However, you despised how he had done it. No preparation, he bit you and then left you alone, leaving you to face the consequences alone. Although a piece of you didn't want him around. You were so angry at him, whilst you completely understood why he did it quickly. The vampire laws. You had no choice but to ask for help.
You approached Carlisle's coven but kept your distance. Smelling the slight scent of human blood, so you didn't breathe in and remained rigid. You asked him to contact the Volturi on your behalf, very aware that he didn't actually know you and so he didn't have to. Whilst his coven mates seemed a mixture of hostile and wary, he showed kindness. He agreed and even offered you sanctuary for the time being. You shook your head violently. You were already too close to the human world, their territory marking the line. Of course, a bulky man seemed to recognise you. "Your face is everywhere!" You bit down on your cheek hard, emotions flaring. "It's not by choice." You responded stiffly. A dark haired woman moved to Carlisle's side. "What happened? Perhaps we could help you." She radiated kindness, reminding you of a mother...and you could really use one of those in that moment. "You know Alec, right?" You asked quietly. The pleasant smiles were gone, concern etched in replacement. Carlisle nodded as well as the dark haired woman. "He considers me a friend...I-... We're friends." You said once again biting down on the inside of your cheek. "He...he changed me unexpectedly and now, well you know." Carlisle nodded. "Our offer remains, our diet is animal blood but if we can assist you...you know where we are." "I'll keep that in mind." You assured him. "Please contact them, I can't...go anywhere. I cant control myself." "I'd say you're doing a very good job so far." Carlisle reassured you with a small smile. Just as he finished the sentence, you noticed a small head peer out from behind two vampires in the back. Brown eyes, wide and sparkling, meeting yours. Your eyes moved back to Carlisle.
Carlisle could see the pain behind your eyes. He couldn't help but sympathize at how strange it must have been for you. If you remembered what it was to be human, then looking at Renesmee now was a struggle. Seeing an innocent child and now having to fight an urge to attack, it would be frightening at the very least.
"I trust you know my name since...it's everywhere right now." You said quietly and Carlisle nodded. "Mention it to them. They'll know who I am." You turned away before you were gone in a second. "Poor thing." Esme said solemnly as Carlisle took her hand with a nod in response. "Carlisle, you know we can't take them." Edward said stiffly. "Renesmee-" "-doesnt always spend her time here. We'll always offer help to those in need Edward. You know that. They need that offer more than anyone." Esme sharply turned her head to Edward in warning. "We wouldn't offer if we weren't willing to accommodate both of them." Edward clenched his jaw but said nothing. "I can't imagine it." Esme turned to face Carlisle once more. "Plenty of our kind have went missing after transformation but never have humans picked up on it in such a magnitude." Carlisle nodded, squeezing Esme's hand. "Riley Biers for one." Emmett reminded. "Some stories the media just pick up for many reasons. It's worldwide because within a second they just vanished. Charlie wondered if Riley Biers had been a case of an animal attack or a run away, but none of those could account for (Y/N)'s case." "The things they broadcast..." Rosalie began. "...I thought there was no way they could have been alive. The theories they have to the disappearance. To discover their one of us now and why. It's sickening." Rosalie's mouth twisted and Emmett pulled her into his side, in attempt to comfort her. "They're a good person." Rosalie continued. "How do you know?" Alice asked. "Because they said they knew why he did it, for the laws. They understand it and are doing nothing about it." Rosalie replied. "What do you mean?" Bella asked. "What I mean, is that if it were me, the laws wouldn't be a good enough reason." "I’m not to certain they're a good person." Edward spoke up. "They're friends with Alec. They're must be something that has his attention." Renesmee tugged at Bella's shirt. "Maybe (Y/N) knew Alec was lonely and needed a friend?" Bella looked down at Renesmee with a smile, pulling her close, even Edward cracking a small smile at his daughters words. "Maybe." Bella nodded. "That's a very nice thought."
They sent Demetri and Felix which you appreciated, at least it wasn't Alec. You weren't sure if you were ready to see him yet. "You look good as one of us." Felix smirked. "Much more fitting of your personality." "Thanks." You said simply. "So how can we assist you, (Y/N)?" Demetri asked. "Well surely you know what I'm dealing with." Your eyes narrowed on the two. What else could you have possibly needed them for? Which blood type do they recommend? "Of course, you're face pops up on the news every night for a couple of minutes. As well as your parents." Demetri responded. "Not to mention your newborn...challenges." Felix added. You looked at Felix. "Exactly. I wasn't exactly given a manual, only a warning I vaguely recall not to make a mistake." "Well, it's at its worst for the first year. Beyond then, you'll get better and better." Felix replied. "Alright so how do I survive? Better yet, how do I survive with my face plastered everywhere?" "When you feed, you clean up the evidence. Hide the body as to where it'll never be found." Demetri responded. "If that can't be achieved, make it look like an animal attack. Make them unrecognisable, completely destroy the body. Do what you had to do to hide any bite marks." "...did you just suggest to me that I maul a dead person to hide bite marks if I can't hide the body?" Your jaw dropped. "Yes and make sure they're dead." Demetri said simply. "No heartbeat, no pulse, nothing. Break their necks if you need to, do not leave them alive in any circumstances." You wanted to be sick at how grizzly the advice was and Felix couldn't hide his amusement. "Don't leave anything to make humans question the existence of our kind." Demetri said flatly. "Although, the next part is a little more difficult. You must be in hiding until all the media attention stops. You cannot be seen. It will be a disaster if a human sees you and reports back that your alive and have red eyes. If it can't be helped and no one suspects anything, basically a one off scenario then it can be overlooked but do not go wandering in well populated areas. The aim is you were never seen again and presumed dead." You nodded slowly, not exactly enamored by the idea but you kind of knew you couldn't be found to begin with. "As a Newborn, you're stronger, faster, thirstier and less in control of your emotions. With time, it'll fade but that means you must be careful." Demetri explained. "So don't exist for a year at the very least?" "Yes." Demetri responded. "Terrific. It's an great thing Alec isn't here because I want to punch him in the face." You glared at nothing in particular. Demetri smirked, matching Felix's more permanent one. "Alec does send his regards." "Right now, Alec can shove his regards. Was this the plan? Pluck me out of my human life like this with no preparation?" "Little one, there is no preparation when it comes to the human world. Your family won't receive closure even if they knew you had ran away or willingly left. It doesn't change that they'd never see you again." Demetri had a point, as much as you didn't like it. "It's not all bad, not forever." Felix reminded you. You sighed. "I will never be able to forget the sight of my parents crying on TV, begging for me to come home. How do I live with that for eternity?" "By knowing you're alive and well which is what your parents want. Even if it isn't with them, deep down, they keep going hoping that you're out there, safe and happy. You are safe and you will be happy." Demetri reasoned.
Suddenly the conversation wasn't on your mind. The scent of human blood hitting your nostrils. Your eyes widened as your iris' darkened. Demetri and Felix sent you knowing looks and smiles. "It seems you'll be getting a demonstration." Felix said darkly. "Stop me." You said through a clenched jaw, body stiff. "No." Felix responded. "Don't let me do this." You pleaded. "You're hungry, little one. We'll show you what do to when you're done." Demetri said smoothly. A growl erupted from your throat before you spun around and took off. "We'll be right behind you." You barely caught Demetri's quiet encouragement but we're unable to care.
You followed the scent, stopping when faced with a human man. He turned, hearing a twig snap under your foot. He jumped slightly. "Bloody-! Don't do that!" The man's eyes narrowed on you. "Wait a second, you're- you're on the news! What-what happened to your eyes!?" You heard Demetri's voice behind you. "Well now he knows too much." He spoke to you although all you could focus on was the pounding of the man's heartbeat in your ears. "When the hell did you two get there!?" The man panicked. "Do you need help!? Did these guys take you!?" You didn't answer the man, your instincts taking over. You lunged with a snarl. The man let out a pained scream when you bit down.
You came to your senses far too late. The man underneath you, who had shown concern for you in his final moments, was very dead. "You're a lot cleaner than expected." You looked up at the sound of Demetri's voice to see the two looking down at you. "Let us show you how to discard the body." Felix smiled. Seeing the two guards again made you think back. Human memories were a little hazy but some weren't completely forgotten. You recalled them like a dream. One in particular reminded you of how you got into this mess.
Aro’s eyes then drifted to you, his smile widening. “And who might you be, my dear?” Aro glided towards you, reaching for your hand, all to eager to even ask for permission. “I’m (Y/N).” You smiled, allowing him to take your hand. “It’s very nice to meet you, sir.” “Che nome meraviglioso!” Aro said brightly, his eyes twinkling. Whilst he had been very polite and welcoming, you couldn’t help but feel intimidated, like it was a deadly trap to consider his kindness genuine and perhaps it was. “I had hoped to meet you some day soon. One of our guards spoke very highly of you, indeed. My name is Aro and behind me are my brothers, Marcus and Caius.” He tugged you forward, showing you to each brother. You clung to his words. You knew you had been in contact with a Volturi guard over the previous months. Although you didn’t know who that may have been. They never gave you a name. You knew what they were, after all, your aunt worked for them. She hoped to be one of them and by extension wanted to change you too, now that you knew the secret. Those letters, that constant communication was perhaps the only thing keeping you alive. Your aunt told you that as long as it wasn’t the twins, Demetri or Felix. You were safer. Those for were the highest ranking guards and getting involved them was a deadly mistake. Keep out of their way and do what they say. That was the rule when around them. “It is a relief to know that you and your aunt are the only ones who know of our kind. You have kept our secret.” You nodded, not entirely certain as to how respond. “It really is wonderful to meet you, little one.” He paused. "After all, Alec had grown quite fond of you after all of those letters." Aro smiled, clasping his hands in front of his chest. Your eyes widened. "I'm sorry?" Perhaps you had misheard him. Or maybe he was mistaken. Surely the person you had been in contact with all this time wasn't-. You turned to look at Alec. His head slowly turned to you. His expression was empty, void of any emotion with a stare that pierced into you. Your heart had begun to race. "Alec, why don't you take your friend somewhere more private for now?" Aro smirked. This couldn't be happening.
Immediately, you took off running at the same time Alec took a step forward from his post. The leaders stared at the now unoccupied space you had stood. "Perhaps it would have been wise to shut those doors." Marcus spoke up. Aro hummed. "They won't get very far." During this exchange, Alec followed after you at a slow pace.
Everything about his stance was off and inhuman. His arms were practically glued to his sides. His back straight. The only real movement coming from him was from his legs. No matter how fast you ran, he was always behind you. He hadn't even sped up to keep you in his sight. His inhuman speed coming into show that no matter how slow he went, he was constantly not far behind. His expression hadn't changed, he hadn't even called out to you. This person a polar opposite of the one you had been in contact with. So much so, it wouldn't have surprised you if the Volturi were simply messing with your head. Alec was actually pining for someone to torment.
Running could only do so much. You didn't know where you were going. Each winding corridor turning into another and you knew you had made a mistake when you came across stairs going up. Regardless, you hoped they would ultimately bring you closer to the entrance. Although you weren't so lucky. You felt sick to your stomach. You had burst through a door. The room was only illuminated by day light in a window far too small for you to ever even hope to fit through. Before you could rush out, Alec was behind you.
You screamed staggering back, begging him not to hurt you. He continued to step forward, eventually closing the distance between you both his expression still hauntingly empty. However to your surprise, he wound his arms around you, tilting his head to one side before resting his head on your shoulder. He stayed quiet and still for a long time. So long that you eventually calmed down. Your heart still pounded but you didn't shake uncontrollably in his arms. "You don't have to be afraid of me." Alec whispered.
You ended up back in the Cullen's territory. It was Carlisle who came out to greet you. You kept your distance. "Are you alright?" He asked. You stayed quiet, you weren't. "Am I bothering you?" You asked lightly. Carlisle shook his head and looked concerned. That was strange. The man barely knew you yet his heart ached for you? You figured confiding in this stranger wouldn't hurt, right? Even if he wasn't exactly a stranger anymore. Slowly, you sat on the forest floor and Carlisle crouched down to your level. You didn’t break the five foot gap between you both. “I came here because I didn’t know where else to go.” “I’m glad you came back.” Carlisle said with a soft smile. “My aunt worked for the Volturi.” You began. “I had went to Italy to visit her. I was spending some time with her and she forgot her lunch. I was told I couldn’t go there but figured dropping it off quickly wouldn’t hurt. Although the timing was off and I saw one of the guards and immediately saw the red eyes. So to keep my life, it was agreed that i would keep in contact. I didn’t think for a moment that i’d develop the bond i did to the person i was writing to. Not even my aunt could figure out who it was. I was terrified when I found out it was Alec. I couldn’t believe the person who i had come to know was the same person who was capable of terrible things. My aunt wanted to be changed, she wanted this life. I went along with it, for survival but ...I got this life instead and she died. They decided they didn’t want her. Although Alec wanted to keep me.I am stuck with a life I don't understand and in the end...didn’t even want. Alec hasn’t been around to help and i am stuck watching my family an friends grieve.” Carlise nodded slowly, eyes full of sympathy. “I’m so sorry, (Y/N).” "Why don't you come inside?" Carlisle offered. "What if I hurt the little girl?" You asked quietly. Carlisle grew a small smile. "Would you like to meet her outside?"
Renesmee slowly stepped out from the door, clutching a bear in one hand and a drawing pad with the other. You sucked in a breath, doing your best to focus less on her scent and more upon her her features such as a big brown eyes or her long hair that cascaded down her back. She smiled at you. "Hello." You smiled but your body was stiff. Once again, the five meters was kept. "You're back." Renesmee smiled. You nodded. "Yeah...I am." "What's your name?" Renesmee asked as she sat down on the grass. "I'm (Y/N)." You responded. "What's your name?" "Renesmee." She smiled. "Although some people just call me Nessie." "Cool nick name." You commented. "Thank you." She replied with a grin. "Would you like to draw with me?" "Sure."
The Cullen's never anticipated how well you'd get on with Renesmee. The little girl seeming to adore you despite the danger you were. Yet ironically enough, you wouldn't dream of hurting her. So much so that you had become more playful, seemingly forgetting the smell of her blood. As time passed, the gap between you both gradually got smaller with each day. You couldn't help but chuckle at her childish excitement when she was given a bowl of ice cream. The sight a familiar one even though it was many years since such a thing could provoke such a reaction towards you.
"I don't eat that anymore!" You began and Renesmee flicked your nose, covering the tip with ice cream. "I don't wear it either." You added and Renesmee giggled. "It's not even cold! The ice cream is broken." You wiped your nose. You weren't shy to admit it. Renesmee was a wonderful little girl who had become a wonderful distraction. A distant comfort that you couldn't quite place. Although you didn't need the personal memories. You were certain you had that same childish perspective when you were younger.
Unsurprisingly, it seemed Alec had grown more impatient, tired of waiting for you to come to him or for even as much as a letter. So much so, that he unexpectedly turned up at the Cullen's door, Felix and Demetri with him. His eyes piercing into Bella's. "Well, it appears I've shown up at a bad time." Alec's voice was smooth as silk, although had a very annoyed undertone. Although it was his fierce glare that told Bella she didn't want to mess with him. "Unfortunately." Bella replied dryly. "Where are they?" He asked. "The others are out with Renesmee, (Y/N) is away hunting. I can tell them you stopped by." Bella kept her cool, trying not to anger Alec. "No need. We'll wait." Alec insisted, inviting himself inside.
Bella barely had the time to step aside. Demetri followed and then lastly, Felix who gave Bella a quick smirk and a wink. Alec sat on the couch, Felix and Demetri sitting on either side of him. Bella, on the other hand, sat opposite them. "They might not appreciate the visit." Bella warned. "I don't care. They're my friend. Like it or not, I will be there when they need me. That's what friends are for." "You're not their friend. You're cold to them. You're terrible to them." Bella said simply. She recalled the stories of how Alec treated you as a human. “And they’re always so kind to me?” Alec raised an eyebrow. “How could you ever expect to understand our friendship? Such a human, Isabella. Our friendship is more complex than you could ever know.” “If you haven’t noticed, I’m no longer a human.” She said flatly. “Yet you still think like one.” Alec shot back. "You threw them into a life they didn't understand." Bella responded. "No human ever understands and newborn vampires are too driven by their urges to even try. If anything, it shows my love, that I care." Alec replied stoically. "Unlike Edward, I understand the laws and I thought of (Y/N). They couldn't stay human and I didn't want to lose them. So I saved them. Regardless, I don't have to explain what I have done to ensure that (Y/N) would manage. Not to you anyway. From what I hear, you're struggled to get Edward to change you." Bella bit her tongue and Alec continued. "Perhaps it's a reality check for you, Isabella. I love (Y/N) so much that I knew what I had to do and I did it. Does Edward love you or did he love your humanity knowing, selfishly, it was your demise in the end. Your life on the line." Alec lightly shrugged with his constant empty gaze. He knew he had won in that moment. Bella couldn't argue against the struggle she had with Edward.
It had only been a couple of hours. Everything had been peaceful when you left. However that serenity was long gone when you returned. The Cullen's weren't alone and the scent mixed with theirs was familiar. Demetri, Felix and someone you felt you should have known but didn't have a clue. Although you knew it was bad regardless. The Volturi's guard had approached the Cullen's. You hurried inside only to recoil at the sight before you. Alec stood over them all, even Renesmee. All lay motionless on the ground. "Well look who decided to join us." Felix smiled widely. "Yes, finally we have (Y/N)'s attention." Alec smirked. "Alec..." You didn't even know where to begin, horrified at what he had done whilst he didn't seem to care. "So this is what I must do to get you to speak to me (Y/N)? Will I start with the girl?" Alec nodded to Bella, all of the Cullen's strewn around the room and unable to move, the mist creeping slowly through their bodies. "Alright, Alec. You win." You said calmly with your hands up. "I know." He responded blankly. He nodded to the Cullen's. "This is your fault. You know better than to ignore me. You won't do that again, will you?" You shook your head. "This doesn't involve them, so let's go. Just you and me." Alec looked unconvinced. "Please," You pleaded. "Not here." Alec rolled his eyes. He immediately stood before you, the mist crawling from the Cullen's, across the floor and up into Alec's hands once more. "If you run off... I'll make you regret it." Alec said to you. "I won't." You responded. "Just leave them out of this."
As you promised, you didn't run from him. "You can't keep avoiding me, (Y/N). I won't allow it." Alec said to you with a stern look. "I have every reason to." You replied. "I believe we need to have a talk." Alec began. "So you tortured my friends?" You shot back. "I'm not giving you a choice because when I do, you don't do the right thing." Alec smirked lightly. "I did what I had to back then. Just as I am now. You might not like it now but you'll thank me later." You scoffed. "You think changing me is what bothered me? I didn't mind if that was your plan for me. What I did mind, is that you took me from my life and you didn't stick around to help me. You left me. You left me to figure it out on my own." "The Volturi do not permit newborns. I wasn't able to help you even if I wanted to." Alec said simply. "That doesn't change anything." You responded icily. "I was terrified when I found out who you were. I knew the moment you and I were face to face that you were not who you led me to believe you were. The one who wrote me those letters...they could never be you. My friend never existed. I might be pretending not to be a monster in your eyes, Alec, but that doesn’t mean that you get to change me into something i’m not- to recreate me in the image you see fit." Alec looked at you almost bewildered. "You are what I made you, how could I not adore you for that?" He asked lightly. Your jaw stayed clenched, the sentiment not giving much comfort. "That's the problem, that has always been the problem. It's always been about you. You changed me because you wanted a friend forever, but you never thought for even a moment if I could forgive you for all of this. If I could ever stomach being your friend." "You're trying to break my heart and I won't let you." Alec shook his head. "I know you. You can't fool me with those words. At the end of it all. You let me." Alec recalled it vividly, he told you the situation and you agreed. You even lay down on the forest floor before him. Even as he hovered over you, on hands and knees, you still agreed. Alec held you until you lost consciousness, holding you as you screamed in agony. Yet that person seemed long gone before him, or at least, that's what you wanted him to think. This made Alec angry. "You think you'd be who you are now without me? Without me to push you, break you and put you back together?" He seethed, glaring at you. "No...I think I'd be more." You responded quietly with distain, which only angered Alec more. "Don't talk like that." Alec growled. "It's not my fault if you don't like the answer, Alec." You said firmly. "You're lying!" Alec suddenly yelled, in front of you in moments before shoving you to the ground. You hissed but didn't fight back. Even as he climbed on top of you. "Don't ever lie to me! You know I will always know when you lie!" He yelled, roughly grabbing your jaw. "Stop saying that!” Alec did his best to calm down. Growing silent almost immediately which was surprisingly given his outburst just seconds ago. "You're trying to break my heart and I won't let you." He said finally with a clenched jaw.
Suddenly he smiled slightly and it grew. "You know you're my favourite right?" Alec smirked. "You always have been." You sharply inhaled when dark mist crawled up your body. Before you could fall, Alec held you up from behind. "Shh...it's okay. Just relax. I have you." He said quietly into your ear. "What are you doing!?" You asked, unable to hide your panic. "You don't need to be afraid, remember? I told you you don't have to be afraid of me." Your body slumped over. You had lost complete control. Although you could still hear him. "You still don't understand." He said, his voice growing quieter. You knew it was you losing your hearing. "The laws are clear. Aro's ruling is clear. You couldn't be human." Alec pulled you against him tighter, burying his face into your neck. "I did exactly what Aro would have wanted. Although I understand you, (Y/N) but the Volturi don't take newborns. So I put my trust in you that you'd overcome your newborn stage. I helped from afar but it was all I could do." He pressed a kiss to the skin behind your ear. "Goodnight, little one." Just like that, everything went dark and silent.
You weren't sure how long it had been. Your sense of time completely gone like your five senses. You sat up, eyes already open and re-adjusting. No longer were you in the forest. Instead you were in the last place you wanted to be. In the Volturi's throne room. You would have expected to feel fear just as you had when you first met Alec face to face. Although no one was around and fear was also nowhere to be present. Instead you were left with complete rage. You could have just left but you were completely done with the betrayals of trust and the general pain Alec had so willingly out you through. You could sense him, he had recently been there and had left. He must have if the mist retracted. So without a second thought you followed his scent. Ready to reign hell upon him.
You stormed down the corridor and towards Alec’s room. He halted before he entered, turning and locking eyes with you. He smiled. “Finally, my little (Y/N) comes to see me at last.” “Why are you doing this?” You asked. “I always get my way in the end.” “What in the hell is your problem-” “No! Stop!” He demanded, raising a finger. “You don’t get to start hissing at me in my own home, especially when it has taken so long to get you here. You make me wait, time after time and it’s not fair. I just want you to speak to me.” He pouted slightly before smirking. "I can't speak to you because if I even look at you, I have the urge to rip you to shreds." You answered. "You're angry with me, fine but at least admit your angry with yourself. You're just to blame as I am. You knew this would happen, you just didn't know when." "You took my life into your own hands, Alec. At least take responsibility." You said firmly. Alec smirked. "It's taking every fibre of my being not to attack you right now. I hope you know that. Keep smirking at me and that'll change very quickly." Despite your warning, his smirk remained and you lunged.
Alec could have stopped you if he wanted to. His gift would have had you down in seconds but he didn't. He continued to struggle against you, you had straddled him before you pinned his wrists. Even then, Alec didn't use his gift. He stayed down, still even, accepting the loss. Then again, there wasn't much he could do now that he was pinned by a newborn. A newborn who was also his only friend. You glared down at him for a moment, anger written in your features before you quickly hit him in the face. His head snapped to the side as he let out a grunt of pain. However he still didn't do anything. Your glare wavered slightly before falling all together. Letting go of his wrists you wrapped your arms around him as much as the floor would allow, burying your face into his neck. "I'm sorry." You said in a strained voice. "You could have done worse." Alec responded in a monotone voice before gently pushing you off of him making you lie on your side beside him. You looked at him. Alec's face was void of emotion. As though indifferent to being hit in the face. Slowly, your fingertips grazed up from Alec's elbow, to his hand before putting you hand into his. He allowed it. Holding your hand just as he would his dear sister's hand. You cracked a small smile, He wasn't too angry. Playfully you let out a quiet snarl. Alec turned his head to look at you before looking back at the ceiling. However barely a second later, he looked back with a smirk before sending you a low hiss. Your smile grew wider as you let out another quiet snarl. Alec hissed back quietly, his smirk remaining. Alec always got what he wanted.
“Che nome meraviglioso!” - What a wonderful name!
