~Griffis Supspecies Height Comparison + Info~ ------------------------------------ Just doing this for fun~ I made this so I can use this to design more griffins oc if I want to save time. Also explaining the differences. Not just for these that I show here, also included for other bird species. Of course, I can't filled all in here. Just try and use common senses, if you can.

There's a few things that I explained based in my universe world, so, just want to make that clear.

Very small - HUMMINGBIRD

This also included other small bird species such as kingfisher, kookaburra, cockatiel, parakeet, parrotlet.

They have a certain natural ability based on what bird species they are; kingfisher griffins can catch fish. Kookaburra griffins can make loud and chaotic cry. And more.

Their small size makes it easy for them to fly swiftly or hide in small spaces. ------------------------------------

Medium small - OWL

This included all types of owl species out there.

They can fly without making a slightest sound of their wings flapping while flying.

Their common traits are usually quiet, watchful, sly and deep-thinkers. They seem more active hunting during night time, making them nocturnal creatures.

Owl griffins are considered as the calmest griffin compared to other subspecies griffins.

They are not usually aggressive and only do so when it's necessary like defending their home.

Despite also being considered as a predatory kind, they're pretty calm. ------------------------------------

Medium - MACAW

This included all types of macaw and medium-sized parrots species such as cockatoo, African grey parrot, scarlet macaw, black palm cockatoo and more.

Their habitats are usually in the jungle or rainforest.

Some have the ability to mimic sounds. Their special beak is for macaws, able to crack open any hard nuts easily, without any tools.

Their common traits can come in pretty friendly, intelligent, crafty and creative. They're considered as the smartest and creative subspecies of griffin. ------------------------------------

Large - NORMAL GRIFFIN

A common griffin, half eagle, half lion. However, this also included all types of eagle species, including hawk and falcons. Usually predatory birds.

This type of griffin has the biggest wingspan of all other griffins. A strong flier and the fastest flier than all other griffins.

They are also considered the strongest griffin subspecies.

They are also common subspecies and the most populated compare to other subspecies griffins.

Most of these griffins are very well known to hunt any certain food or animal easily. ------------------------------------

Medium Large - PEAFOWL

Male peacock griffins are usually a bit bigger than female peahen griffins.

However, this size can come from other types of bird such as Lyrebirds and birds of paradise.

Usually the royals are a bit bigger compared to it's average size.

Peafowl griffins are considered as the most beautiful creatures in Griffonia due to their unique pattern and colorful feathers.

Peacock griffin can fly but not as fast as other griffins.��Peahen griffin cannot fly properly and can only glide.

Certain peafowl families will wear a certain gem on their forehead to easily identify their close relatives and family. This also to show off their beauty and high quality of themselves.

This has been going for many generations and now considered as their tradition.

Most peafowl are from the royal family. They live in a high ground place called The Proud Tree Kingdom.

They're usually very graceful, elegant, and well mannered. They always try to maintain their appearance to stay clean and beautiful to show that they are more superior than other griffins. ------------------------------------

Very tall and large - OSTRICH

Ostrich griffins are considered as the largest griffin subspecies.

They are also one of the griffins that cannot fly.

Females can have pale, pastel, whitish or brown color feathers, while males have dark coloring feathers.

However, as a normal ostrich would have, they're able to run fast compared to other griffins. Their highest speed limit is almost the same speed as the normal griffin's flying speed.

Most ostrich griffins participated in a racing sport game, and so were considered as professional racers.

These griffins can usually be found in many populations living somewhere in the desert western land, which is where the racing stadium for ostriches is located.

More Bird Fables idears: non-Awakened Bugs are non-Bird Animals in this AU. One example, the Spider of Snakemouth Den is now actually a Snake (this idea was given by @/wingusmcdingus). The Peacock Spider is a Rattlesnake specifically.

Midges and the Broodmother could perhaps be Bats? That’s the only flying creature I can think of that’s not a Bird or a Bug. Instead of a bunch of eggs in the cave where the Broodmother was there could simply be lots of Bats hanging from the ceiling (and they’d fly away when she’s beaten).

I’m thinking of Weevils being Dogs or Wolves, while the Primal Weevil could be like a Werewolf or something. Kinda works out, since Weevils already howl and junk.

The Beast would be something that tends to hunt Kiwis. Maybe some sort of Wild Cat (something more dangerous than a Domestic Cat but less than, say, a Lion).

Mothflies could simply be Mice or Rats, with the False Monarch literally being a Rat King (that being not a singular creature but a bunch of Rats tied together by the tail). I’d also imagine it and the other False Citizens wearing outfits that almost make them look like birds, which is a concept I kinda like because the beak part of the costume can work well with their elongated snouts.

The way this idea sounds, it seems to change how the Awakening works a bit: while in-universe it seems to have mostly changed Bugs based on how resistant to radiation they were, in this AU it goes for Birds first because...of some reason, ha.

Since I like the idea that Hera genuinely cares about Leo, I've also thought about ways she might show it and. And I've decided that, Understanding that becoming 16 is Important for mortals, she basically dropped a basket with a pair of peachicks in Leo's lap for his birthday

They're an Indian peacock and peahen pair from the same clutch that he's named Gear and Tinker and they are his babies

They're also, while mortal, not exactly Normal™ as they're smarter than an average peacock

They were also slightly confused about being Gryphons due to being raised alongside Heloise and Abelard's chick but have eventually stopped trying to collect chunks of gold bigger than them

Gear is more mischievous while Tinker is more aggressive and reserved

They will both jump on Leo's unsuspecting back, though

He started training his balance and awareness for the sake of not being constantly knocked to the ground

Georgie likes playing tag with them even though sometimes they peck too hard and leave marks

They both adore Annabeth but despise Thalia

Their opinion of other non-Waystation residents depends on how many treats they give them

Y'know how a lot of zoos have free-roaming peacocks?? Yeah, that's what happens once Leo and Calypso finally open up their store; wherever you look in the store, they're There

Leo also brings them along when hanging out with the local foster/homeless kids and they adore the attention

Tinker will steal food from your plate if you look away for one second (peafowl are, in fact, omnivores that will eat anything if given the chance)

Gear is more picky

Apollo really likes them because they will commit war crimes to get rid of any snake they see; he thinks they'd have been a big help against Python

Gear keeps trying to steal Lit's sword with the Gryphon chick's help

Josephine is adored above all but Leo for always sneaking them extra food

Emmie is mildly disliked because she keeps trying to stop it; she's very good at helping them preen, though, so she gets a pass

Sssssarah avoids them because they will attack her if no one else is around

Tinker dislikes Jamie for no known reason but Gear loves him

Calypso doesn't know how to act around them. She has tried everything to win them over. They don't seem to hate her, but they're certainly not fawning for her attention unless she has food either. Leo finds her concern about getting them to love her funny but tries to help anyway

Tinker will fight the battle ostriches if left unsupervised

I might add more if I come up with anything else

so far i’ve decided that pony has butterfly fauna (not sure their names), johnny has his squirrel fauna (alora and almos), soda has either a raiju or a thunderbird (raiju are electric puppies pretty much-thanks @witchyleehibernates for the idea!)), mrs curtis had gloria, her peacock fauna, cynthia had tiamat, her cerberus…and for my lineup i wanna draw each character with their fauna so i need help

what should darry’s fauna be? fauna kind of reflect the life you’ve lived and it’s kind of like the person embodied into a single entity, so i just need help thinking about what darry’s should be. i don’t wanna use a lion since he’s a gryphon and i’m on he fence about using an eagle…idk, i need help.

"What do you think your patronus will be?" Harry asked, half hoping to lure Malfoy out of the snit he'd worked himself into so quickly.

The Slytherin shot a withering look back at him, evidently aware of the tactic. Nevertheless, he lowered his arms and made a show of considering. "Something terribly unusual and impressive," he announced finally, with a straight face. "Too much to hope for a dragon, do you think?"

Matching his seriousness, Harry nodded pensively. "A peacock," he suggested, thinking of the daft strutting creatures all over the Manor grounds.

Malfoy ignored him. "Or a gryphon, perhaps."

"Definitely not a hippogriff," Harry agreed sagely.

That won him another narrow look, but otherwise went equally unacknowledged as Malfoy hit his stride. "Oh, I know. A phoenix - to mark my illustrious return from ignominy and disgrace."

Harry thought about it. "A ferret."

"Potter!" Malfoy rounded on him, hands planted squarely on his hips and only just managing to resist stamping a foot. "You are ruining��my vision. I thought you said this was supposed to be a happy experience?!"

At last Harry couldn't hold back the bubbling amusement rising in him, and let loose a giggle. "Galleon on peacock," he confirmed.

Malfoy's mouth twitched, tugging up at the corner. He immediately turned back to the window, as though reluctant to commit to anything as undignified as smiling.

"Sod off."

If you could have a pet gryphon, what would you like its halves to be comprised of, species- and coloring-wise? What would you name it?

I would, and I stress this is a very bad idea, want one that was a black and white tuxie Maine Coon cat and a raven, and I have no idea what I would actually name it, which is fine because I would just have a really disparaging nickname for it, because it would be a little shit bastard asshole son of a bitch.

Or if the not-a-bird half could be non-feline, a little goldfinch x deer mouse, who could be Ariel, and would be trouble, but in a good way. And I could carry HIM around without necessarily attracting attention.

But also? Fucking imagine a peacock x Bengal cat where the peacock coloring carried over into the cag. No, I don't WANT one, fuck no, the screaming and the chaos. Just imagine it. It would be so beautiful.
