CHAMELEON

Jersey City artist Shawn Edwards, aka Pawn or Pawnprice, has been refining his freehand aerosol graffiti and street art for nearly 15 years. He loves working out in the open where the public can enjoy his work, and he has painted on walls all over the country. While he says his recent vivid renditions of “rare, majestic and sometimes endangered species” explore the impact of humanity on nature, he confesses that he especially loves painting reptiles—clearly evident in this chameleon painted at NW 29th St. and NW 5th Ave. in Wynwood, Miami, in 2012 for Art Basel. Considering the Florida sun, wind, and rain it has held up remarkably well, and Pawn says that piece was later selected for inclusion in the Wynwood Coloring Book.  @pawnprice  @artbasel​  @wynwoodmiami  @scenesfromthesidewalk
