Jim Parsons is opening up about how "beautiful" it was to reprise his Big Bang Theory role as adult Sheldon Cooper for the Young Sheldon series finale.
While speaking with ET's Rachel Smith about his Broadway project, Mother Play, Parsons shared that, yes, he has already taped his part for the Young Sheldon series finale. He's reprising his role alongside Mayim Bialik's Amy Farrah Fowler. Parsons said going back to a familiar role went so much better than he expected.
"It was beautiful. It was even more beautiful than I expected it to be. One of the reasons I was excited to do it is because what they wrote is so sweet and I think they worked Mayim and I into that show so beautifully," Parsons tells ET. "I hope everyone agrees. But also for us the way that they tape -- because they're a single-camera show and we're multi-camera -- the whole look of the show was a really special experience. To get to go with Mayim, in a world we're really guests and revisit these characters a little older, just a completely different circumstance."
When they reprise their roles on Young Sheldon on what will likely be a flash-forward scene, it'll be the first time Parsons and Bialik reprise their roles and appear on-screen together since The Big Bang Theory ended in May 2019. Parsons said that since leaving the show, everything's been like "one big wash of a memory, but to go back" it felt different.
"We're older and we haven't seen these people," he says. "It just felt different, but it felt really, really sweet."
Tumblr media
"Well, yes and no. We finished our first read-through, we didn't tape it. We just went in and felt around the set, and Mayim nailed it when she walked back and said, 'Uh, I thought I'd feel a lot more confident than this.' I said, 'Me, too,'" Parsons admitted. "I really thought it'd be like putting on a pair of old shoes and then eventually it was, but not for about an hour or so. And I was like, 'Do I still know how to talk like this?' It was weird."
When Young Sheldon comes to a close with the season 7 finale in April, fans can expect the Big Bang Theory universe to expand once again, as it's been reported that CBS ordered a Young Sheldon spinoff series centered around George and Mandy raising their family in Texas. Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland are the creators. The trio's also the brains behind The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon.
"I really think it goes back to the writers," said Parsons, explaining what makes the shows successful. "They have continuously created such characters that people connect to, that people enjoy watching. It was always the key to our show, that I thought it was a group of people that who each individually were such well-defined deep characters. And it's the same with Young Sheldon and now they've got two more to go with. It's crazy."
In the meantime, fans can catch Parsons star opposite Jessica Lange and Celia Keenan-Bolger in Mother Play, a Broadway feature from Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel. The 1-hour, 30-minute play (no intermission) is directed by Tina Landau, and the play centers around Parsons, Lange and Keenan-Bolger sharing the stage as a dysfunctional but moving family.
Mother Play begins preview performances on Broadway on April 2.

Sunday Morning Session
Sweet is the Work
Conducting: Dallin H. Oaks
Go Forth with Faith
I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus
President M. Russell Ballard, Q of 12
Joseph Smith and the first vision
We are blessed by Joseph’s ministry
We have the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ because Joseph was worthy to get the plates
It is important to ensure your children know you believe them – and believe in them
Be a little better, a little kinder, a little more prepared.
He’s our Savior and Redeemer, our best friend
President Emily Belle Freeman, YW President
The Jesus Trail
The five finger promise
He doesn’t ask us to face challenges alone. He will invite us to walk with Him
He has promised to walk with us in the way
Jesus will meet us where we are, as we are
His is a mission of condescension – He will meet us where we are as we are
Staying where we are won’t bring us the deliverance we seek
It’s the covenant relationship that saves us
Just like a marriage, the wedding date is important but ultimately it’s what comes after
What relationship do you want to have with Him?
If you want to live in a continuous covenant relationship with him
Your place or placement on the path is not as important as progress
It’s not the course alone that will save us, it’s the companion our Savior
Adilson de Paula Parrella, 70
Witness through actions and words that Jesus is the Christ
Take upon you the name of Christ
Spain – attending a small church meeting
Brazil story
Everything in church (talks, testimonies, etc) should be about and focused on Jesus
Elder Quintin L. Cook, Q of 12
This is the time to prepare to meet God
Be the peacemakers
Have a peaceable walk among the children of men
Be peaceable followers of Jesus Christ
Which act of the play am I stuck in?
There are three acts to the play (in the plan of happiness), which act are we going to participate in?
If you come in to the performance in the third act of the play you will lack the context of what happened prior
Praise the Lord with singing, music and dancing
If you are sorrowful, call on the Lord with supplication that your souls may be joyful
Being joyful and relying on Heavenly help through prayer is a great way to be peaceable
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal – Hymn Come, Ye Disconsolate
Come Ye Children of the Lord
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Q of 12
The Greatest Short Story ever told
The prodigal son Luke 15:11-32
#livingmybestlife
He will help you and shelter you no matter what has happened
Even after you squander your entire inheritance
“It wasn’t just an empty stomach that bothered him, it was an empty soul”
Even when you feel no longer worthy, and decide that you must be only worthy for the lowliest roll in the Fathers house, He instead celebrates that His child has returned home
He will unconditionally allow us to return for forgiveness and mercy
It is always possible to go back and become renewed
It is never better to stay lost – Heaven will rejoice at our return
Some of us may wonder if its even possible to go back, if its better just to stay lost. But Heavenly father will run to us!! And embrace us!!
“It is not possible for you to sink lower than the light of Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice shines” - Elder Holland
The Master Healer stands at the road that leads home, welcoming you
Your return will not diminish the blessings of others
Coming back is not an easy thing to do. It may be the toughest choice we make. But Christs power will enter our lives and transform it.
Together we will rejoice – for Jesus Christ is our Strength.
Hear the Father’s voice beckoning us to follow the road that leads home.
W. Christopher Waddell, 1st counselor Bishopric
Ephraim’s rescue
Bring as many people as you can safely home
Hero worship can be taken too far – you can look beyond the mark and lose what is essential – Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ has done everything that is essential for our journey through mortality toward the destiny outlined in the plan of our Heavenly Father. -Dallin H. Oaks
We need to be careful in choosing our hero, so that our hero worship does not become our golden calf
If you have not chosen the Kingdom of God first, then you need to consider carefully what choices you have chosen
Any choice other than choosing the kingdom of God will fail us
Turn to Him, follow Him, choose Him.
It is by choosing Him, the King of Kings, that we choose the kingdom of God.
Hark All Ye Nations
President Henry B. Eyring, 2nd counselor 1st Presidency
Pray and heed promptings to gain inspiration and blessings
Think and pray about Helaman’s sons Nephi and Lehi
Helaman 11:23 (whole chapter tho)
We need the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost – we desire it, but we know that it sometimes isn’t easy to achieve
Remember the sacrament promise
We can be guided by the spirit minute by minute
Purity brings power
Don’t give in to fear, He is there. Repent
Don’t succumb to the fear that God has abandoned us or does not hear us.
Of all the things the Holy Ghost testifies of, the most precious for us is that Jesus is the Christ, the Living Son of God.
Your experiences will be unique and the spirt will guide in the way best suited to you and your experiences
He loves you and He hears your every prayer
The Holy Ghost is sent to faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ
Your relationship with the Holy Ghost is unique to you
Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Alex R. Hibbert and Mahershala Ali in Moonlight (Barry Jenkins, 2016) Cast: Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders, Alex R. Hibbert, André Holland, Jharrel Jerome, Jaden Piner, Naomie Harris, Janell Monáe, Mahershala Ali, Patrick Decile. Screenplay: Barry Jenkins, based on a play by Tarell Alvin McCraney. Cinematography: James Laxton. Production design: Hannah Beachler. Film editing: Joi McMillon, Nat Sanders. Music: Nicholas Britell. Coming-of-age films are the cinematic equivalent of the Bildungsroman, the usually semi-autographical "novel of education" that tracks the formative childhood and adolescent experiences of the protagonist. Dickens, for example, wrote not one but two Bildungsromane: David Copperfield and Great Expectations. In the movies, the classic coming-of-age films include Satyajit Ray's Apu Trilogy (Pather Panchali, 1955; Aparajito, 1956; The World of Apu, 1959) and François Truffaut's The 400 Blows* (2017). Lately, Richard Linklater has added a distinguished entry to the genre, Boyhood (2014). And now Barry Jenkins adds to the genre with Moonlight, a fine film about growing up black and gay, while deftly avoiding the double pitfall of making his film about being black or gay. There have been plenty of films about growing up black and about growing up gay  and much commentary about possessing the dual stigma in a straight and/or white society. But what sets Jenkins's film apart is its avoidance of pop psychology and trite sociology: Moonlight is about being human. You don't need to have grown up in India or France to understand and sympathize with Apu or Antoine, and you don't need to have grown up in the Miami housing projects to sense why Chiron (rhymes with "Tyrone," but with a spelling that suggests the mythical centaur) is so blocked, so stubborn, so silent. Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney, who wrote the play Jenkins adapted for the film, step carefully around the clichés of the genre, especially when it comes to ascribing blame. Juan (Mahershala Ali), the drug runner who finds the young Chiron (Alex R. Hibbert) hiding from bullies in an abandoned crack house and shows him kindness, isn't entirely the heroic figure he might be. Juan becomes the fatherless Chiron's first adult male role model, but he's a poor one even though he's generous and understanding, since Chiron grows up to follow Juan's profession and even imitate some of his showy mannerisms. Paula (Naomie Harris) is a terrible mother, but she doesn't want to be: It's the drugs that Juan sells her that send her skidding off the track she desperately wants to be on. Kevin (Jharrel Jerome), Chiron's first (and apparently only) sort-of boyfriend, isn't strong enough to stand up to the taunts of the bully Terrel (Patrick Decile), so he betrays the teenage Chiron (Ashton Sanders), provoking him to violence. So the film ends on an ambivalent note with the reunion of the adult Chiron (Trevante Rhodes) and Kevin (André Holland). Are they strong enough now to provide support to each other, or are their lives going to be haunted by the damaged child that was Chiron, seen in the film's final shot? There is something a little too formulaic about that ending, I think. I'm not entirely convinced, for example, that the handsome, bulked-up, successful drug runner that is the adult Chiron would have remained celibate for so long. But Jenkins has risked much and mostly succeeded -- after all, there's that Oscar -- in crafting a film that doesn't play the blame game or rely on pat explanations and outcomes. *I'm not including the other four Antoine Doinel films by Truffaut because, like many others, I don't sense a real continuity of character between the Antoine of The 400 Blows and the Antoine of the sequels.

“A Cielo Abierto”
Tumblr media
250(ish) Favorite Arrowverse Episodes: Part 6: 125-101
Picked from „Arrow“, „Black Lightning“, „Supergirl“, „Legends of Tomorrow“, „The Flash“, „Barwoman“ Season 1+2 and „Superman & Lois“ Season 1+2. I did consider kicking „Superman & Lois“ of this list, but since it pretended to be part of the Arrowverse for its first two seasons I left it on here.

 122. Running to Stand Still (The Flash 2x9)
Tumblr media
32, Written by: Andrew Kreisberg, Directed by: Kevin Tancharoen
"Flash-y the red-nosed speedster. Had a very shiny suit. And if you ever saw him, you might even want to puke. [gags] Merry Christmas, kiddie-winks. I'm back! Citizens, you know, the holidays can be a time for gentle reflection on the year past. Our ups and downs, our triumphs and heartaches. But don’t forget, it can also be a time for disemboweling our enemies. No. My stocking won't be completely stuffed until it's filled to the brim with bloody Flash parts. So what do you say, speed freak? You wanna roast chestnuts?"

6, Written by: Katie Aldrin, Directed by: Sudz Sutherland
" When I first showed up in Metropolis as Superman, there was a lot of talk about what the world should do with someone who had powers like mine. And it took me a minute to realize that other people were more afraid of what I could do than I was. So what I had to do, more than anything, was earn their trust, prove to them that, no matter what, I would never use my powers to hurt them. 20 years later, every time I use my powers, that trust is tested, every time. Just today, in fact. The thing about trust, Jordan... Once you break it, it's take a lot longer to heal than a wrist."

Video
But I will say, as far Channing Tatum goes, he also took his performance of Beyonce's Run the World, he DEFINTELY took it seriously. He also had his start as a dancer, took the choreography seriously, and Queen B herself made an appearance. And both he and Jenna Dewan (his at the time wife) both fangirled over both Beyonce and Paula Abdul in the episode. He took Let It Go less seriously, but he was also kind of channeling how he plays with his daughter (he's also written a series of children's books inspired by her imagination)
I think what is most charming about the Tom Holland Umbrella performance is the fake out of Singin in the Rain at the beginning. Not only because he reveals a kind of drag performance, but the juxtaposition of the two songs; one standard one pop, one male one female, one dressed in classic Hollywood one modern RB.

In the movies, the classic coming-of-age films include Satyajit Ray's Apu Trilogy (Pather Panchali, 1955; Aparajito, 1956; The World of Apu, 1959) and François Truffaut's The 400 Blows (1959). Lately, there have been two distinguished additions to the genre: Richard Linklater's Boyhood (2014) and Barry Jenkins's Moonlight, the latter a fine film about growing up Black and gay, while deftly avoiding the double pitfall of making his film about being Black or gay. What sets Jenkins's film apart is its avoidance of pop psychology and trite sociology: Moonlight is about being human. So the film ends on an ambivalent note with the reunion of the adult Chiron (André Holland) and Kevin (Trevante Rhodes).
