Thats nice of you to say! It means a lot to me that people are curious about my thoughts and value my opinions on things. I’m humbled that people care about my insane yapping at times lmao. I love stitching things together to make theories or analyses. It scratches that patternfinding itch in my brain.

Not to get sappy but this community really means a lot to me. It got me into writing again. Even better, a few people have said to me that some of my analyses or fics inspired them in some way and that shit is a high like no other.

This dumb man has been stuck in my brain for a year soon. I think I started this blog mid February this year. I’m at 626 followers currently. Once I get 666 I can happily retire at some point lmao.

i suppose walking through uneven terrain improves neuroplasticity. any task that actually requires the brain to make some sort of effort really, but in my experience walking through irregular surfaces stimulates so many areas of the brain i would consider it both a cognitive, sensorial and physical exercise.

it teaches you to be more aware of whats under your feet; it forces you to find possible paths, therefore stimulating patternfinding neurons; your motor neurons learn to coordinate movements better; your equilibrioception is sharpened; it improves your eye to limb movement; and of course it comes with the physical benefits for your circulatory, respiratory and muscular-skeletal system. also i personally think its very fun

Ok but this is exactly why I have massive problems with the term "AI". Because what do you even mean with that?

Are we talking about Large Language Models (ChatGPT)? Are we talking about generative adversial systems (Midjourney e.g.)? Are we talking about optimizer algorithms? Or algorithms for patternfinding? Are we talking about video-game decision making for NPCs? Are we talking about fictional AIs like Artificial General Intelligences? What do you mean?

AI as a term has lost nearly all meaning because it conflates so many different tools and concepts together. There are absolutely useful and important applications for "AI". "AI" is also being shoehorned into every possible product for the sake of "innovation" to sell more expensive products.

I feel it's important to try and once again distinguish what we are talking about. AI is a term currently used for a whole range of different tools, that all have their different applications - how useful they are is a matter of the individual case. That's why I feel like it's so important to specify what we mean, and what it's used for.

like, i can try -- "magic", in my house dialect, is the categorical term for all ritual, religious belief, prayer, supernatural meaning, superstition, placebo effect, spiritual meaning, or ultimate context.

crucially it isn't meant to be derogatory or dismissive; these things are important regardless of whether or not they have a material "reality" or effect. inherent in the term is the idea that magic is a real thing, at the very least as a kind of phenomenon that occurs consistently in human behavior and should be treated as a reality with significance and meaning. humans are evidently a magical animal whose pattern-finding ability creates a need for, a recognition of, and the creation of meanings in literal material ways and in abstract more esoteric forms.

magic as a behavior is both a tool to cope when material solutions fail and a way to improve upon material conditions in a stable situation, a way to make sense of life and trauma and shape decisionmaking, a way to anchor the lived experience to time, a way to feel and create connection with one another and with other creatures, a way to heal from wounds that do not close in other ways.

significant here again is the neutrality of the term; as a real thing, magic has the genuine possibility of being good for you-- it has the potential to greatly improve your life. it can also be dangerous or bad for you; many people are sick for magical reasons, and magical ideas can be wielded as a tool of power. but magic itself, as a phenomenon, is not good or bad. it simply is a reality of human experience.

in this way one can speak broadly of magics present and absent as a fact of human life, those that occur both consciously and unconsciously, which i find really quite useful for talking about a lot of things.

so when i say for instance that my pills are helping me and it may just be for magic reasons i mean it literally and without judgement; assuming the pills aren't "doing anything", me feeling better anyway would be a magic solution because either the patternfinding animal of my body or the meaning creation unconscious of my brain has decided that the idea of medicine is strong enough to change my lived experience physiologically or psychologically -- which is not bad or somehow more fake than just a material physical reaction. it may be valuable enough on its own to continue by itself or in addition to other material solutions.

i use a lot of words a little strangely but i think the word i struggle to share definition with new people the most is the word 'magic' because for me it has taken on a lot of extra anthropological/psychological/supernatural meaning that it doesn't usually have. it feels like a critical theory term in my house and in the conversations we have in that it's got like. an essay or two's worth of nuance in there but is such a useful concept that being able to say it as a single word is important. so there are a lot of thoughts i have that are difficult to verbalize to other people because the crucial background of the word for the concept is missing

As a human with Weighty mercurial influence... the suggestions hold up! Writing is major asset for any air-dominant natives ... and the shorter the better for flighty mutables, sure...

but Virgo DOES NOT rule the hands!!! I'm sorry but that is Gemini! Virgo RULES THE GUT. Writing//transforming thoughts into tangible expressions is important to both signs, for sure -- but it's important to note the differences between Mercury's diurnal and nocturnal domiciles.

In their diurnal home of Gemini, Mercury is bubbling and sparkling around, gathering intel, and distributing the blips of info -- Gemini asks the revealing questions. Gemini talks it out and hears it all.

In their nocturnal home of Virgo, Mercury is combing through that tangled wisdom collected previously by Gemini at the end of spring-- Virgo binder clips the relevant pages at the end of summer. Virgo compiles and separates the b.s. from the Useful.

Harnessing Mercury and their two modes, requires tools and they can definitely be found in the suggestions above!! Again, WRITING IS SO CRUCIAL when attempting to untangle an airy, over-thinking head. Looking at the suggestions made by @the-patternfinder , for me, it's helpful to sift between the symbolism of the actions --- the Gemini parts of myself are Very Satisfied by braindumping on a page at the end of the day ie. random moments of the day that bear no weight to my to-do list; they are things that happened and I Must Record. The Virgo parts of myself are Very Satisfied by the "post-production" of what I threw onto the page the day before. The synthesis of the Randomness feeds and satiates the cyclical states of Mercury.

I’ve noticed that the most effective way for virgo/mercury dominant folks to improve their mental health is to: 

daily write one affirmation repeatedly till it fills a page

it has to be a different affirmation each day. one that is suited for the day’s requirements and mental mood. here’s why it works:

virgo is the sign of routine and repetition, habit and practice

it is also the sign of service, work, and most importantly – manual labour

virgo rules the hands!

writing is huge for both mercury and virgo 

virgo and mercury both have a methodical nature and rule the mind

virgo is mutable earth. therefore, practical and physical habits work best in its favour

mercury is the smallest planet. because of its size, it has limited energy and can thus only hold a few things at a time. so focusing on a single affirmation per day then moving onto the next works wonders
