“ I still can’t believe you’re alive. You’re freaking alive, Elodie. ” The second he found out @pathstread had been left behind to fight Corypheus, their foe, he hasn’t know what to say to apologize. For leaving her in the snow, for leaving her to be taunted and hurt by that thing. Thankfully, there are some very capable healers that are in Haven, and her advisors are currently bickering amongst each other. “ If I had any idea he’d show up, I’d have made Cassandra lead all those people. I’m so sorry. ”

what are you insinuating ? (from elissa)
with a coy shrug of her shoulders, elethea holds her chalice up as a passing attendant approaches to fill it with wine. admittedly, the eldest cousland daughter had been indulging a bit, as her rosy cheeks might imply — but it was satinalia, indulgence was the spirit of the holiday. "i insinuate nothing," she replies, though her feline grin betrays her mischief. she lifts her cup to her lips; primarily to shield her mouth as she continues. "i merely find the engagement of arl morey's daughter to be ... interestingly timed to the abrupt dismissal of one of his footmen." gossip had always been something of a passion of elethea's, the interest had always been shared by her sister, however, so she felt little shame in sharing it. having taken a respectably long sip from her cup, she lowers it from her lips, idly swirling its contents as she goes on.
"i mean, really, four years of loyal service & the arl won't even give the man a reference, one does wonder what he did to earn such ire," slipping her arm through elissa's, she leans in conspiratorially to her ear. it made her whispering rather obvious, not that she cared. half of the enjoyment of spreading gossip was instilling fear in their peers that she was sharing something about them. a glance around the crowded room provided her all she needed to see, as nervous glances were cast their way. "and to betroth his daughter to bann erwine of all people; i'm sure an arl's daughter could do better. unless they were in too much of a hurry to wed her off to consider other options, hm?"

@pathstread. elissa & fergus, i question the wisdom of that decision, but so be it.
Dark eyes narrow pointedly at his sister, before rolling away with a put - upon sigh. "If you have something to say, Liss, then just say it," If she truly didn't want her opinion heard, she would have said nothing at all. Instead she had questioned the wisdom of his decision in the diplomatic, underhanded way she was so wont to do. "It's me, remember? I'm not gonna fall for that," With one hand, he gestures vaguely at her face. "Thing you and Thea both do. What would you have done differently, hm? I know you're just itching to say it."
#ANSWERED.#pathstread#he's callin her out!!!#i just KNOW this man is so tired of his crafty little sisters. he's had enough

❛ i had it under control. you didn’t need to do that. ❜ (elissa to greer?)
greer knows elissa can handle herself. she's seen it since redcliffe, that her older sister can hold her own, and greer had known before that still. but that hadn't stopped the way her heart had seized in her chest at the sight of a darkspawn so near her sister. it had been sheer instinct that the arrow had flown and whizzed past elissa's head to find home in the forehead of the beast ; it had taken some maneuvering, as greer hadn't been properly position before noticing and had scraped her hands scrabbling up the steep hillside to have a proper angle.
all that doesn't mean she wants to talk about it now. greer shrugs as she stoops to pull an arrow from one of the dead darkspawn. they're precious, now, and they can't afford to waste them. "it let you focus on the one behind you."

he'd half begged elethea to go with, to stay with her rather than possibly be questioned by his lover's sister — but he ultimately stayed behind at her behest. he knows elethea is infinitely more terrifying than elissa, but perhaps it's his desire to be accepted by the couslands. what he wants with elethea is forever. forever won't be fun if they can't at least get along.
“ lying ends up hurting more than the truth in the end, in my opinion. ” something he's ever aware of — he can recall learning the truth about his parentage, and remembers wishing that his parents were both dead and nobodies like he'd been lead to believe. “ it's worse to give someone hope for something that they can never feel or have. ” since when was he philosophical? it felt odd. “ that cut — how is it healing? was wynne truthful with you when she told you how long it would take before you can join the action again? ”
@denouemente (ALISTAIR) said: " there is no better feeling than the truth. " to ELISSA!
she has been traveling with her sister's group since redcliffe, and yet she feels she does not know alistair quite as well as she should. it is part of what fuels her approach. "mm, yes" she agrees, matching the sarcasm in his tone with an element of her own. settling down beside him on the log before the fire that serves them for a bench, she says: "though pouring alcohol on an open wound does come to mind."
the camp is never quite quiet - - always there is something. one of the mabari barking, growling, snoring. someone sharpening a blade or rummaging through supplies to find what they need. but it feels quieter tonight, as if what they are moving toward weighs more heavily on them all by the mile. her sister has gone out to scout with a small division of their group, and elissa - - with her own wound to nurse, after their last conflict - - stayed behind.
"but worth the pain in both cases, wouldn't you say?"

@pathstread. elissa & elethea. sometimes i feel as though you are the best friend i have and sometimes i feel you are my worst enemy.
smiling blithely, elethea continues with her needlework; not bothering to raise her eyes to where elissa stands. the relationship the cousland sisters shared was ... occasionally fraught. defined by an air of tension & competition whose source was long since forgotten. but never would elethea claim her sisters to ever be her enemies — even greer, who grated on her nerves with almost every breath. she loved them, in her own peculiar way. "what a thing to say," she chuckles, at last sparing a mirthful glance up to elissa's face. expression coy, knowing. "you'd know full well if i was your enemy, darling."

greer grimaces - - - a usual expression on her freckled face - - - and then rolls her eyes as elissa speaks. she started tuning her out after said by whom and that look on her face and only tunes back in on the back half of the final sentence. "i should've known better than to come to you about it." she huffs as she runs a brush across the side and back of her own steed. if greer were truly upset she would have tossed the brush down and turned on her heel to stalk away, so she must not be that torn up over the response not being the one she had wanted.
"i do not want to attend the feast." said feast is in a fortnight, and some combination of other nobility that greer hadn't cared to remember the names of will be in attendance. it's sure to be boring, and tedious, and long, and they will expect greer to be presentable. "and i know mother is going to insist, and then we'll argue, and elethea will be snide about everything the whole while and truly, lissa, i would rather die than have to pretend to care about the idiotic things all those people are going to try to talk my ear off about."
@fals3nd (GREER!) said: ❝ a fair bargain leaves both sides unhappy, i’ve heard it said. ❞
the day is cool but clear, the crisp autumn day holding just the edge of winter's bite. the wind from the sea is cold, but bracing cold, and elissa thinks it might almost be mischevious. the kind to toss up leaves on shore, to send sea spray into the faces of sailors. a good day for a ride, elissa thinks, before the weather turns foul. she had not expected greer to take her up on the invitation to come along, and in alternating moments feels both relief and frustration at her presence in the yard as they prepare.
"said by whom?" elissa asks - - - equal parts amused and irritated, the resulting look one of strange exasperation. "i can't recall ever coming across such an argument." if anyone in their family is the bargainer, the negotiator, after all, is it not elissa? she cannot recall the last time greer bargained for anything.
she runs her hand down to her horse's fetlock, holding it when the mare (at last) lifts her hoof. elissa makes efficient but thorough work of the cleaning, setting the hoof down before sparing her sister another glance. "if you're trying to bargain with our sister, i wish you the best of luck. i will have nothing to do with it," she warns. "if it is our parents you wish to bargain with, it would be best to start with a better perspective on what a good bargain truly means."

@pathstread
she remembers a very long time ago telling her mother through her tears how she wanted to be queen. to be joffery’s wife and bear him beautiful children. such a naive little bird she’d been. after her imprisonment she’d once vowed never to return to king’s landing - and yet here she stands above it all while the realms rebuild around her. things are unsteady as they will be for a while, but sansa has managed well enough in the months following the great war. nightmares still plague her among these halls, but the builders have done a good job of transforming the remains of the keep into something more palatable for the stark queen. she will not be afraid here. as much as she longs for the halls of winterfell, this is her home now and she will make it so.
“thank you for coming.” she greets kindly; she’s in the map room, painters restoring the mural on the floor into something grand and beautiful. her target is that of a night’s watch member she has only heard through name and seen through passing, but never truly quite met before. a mistake she intends to remedy now. “more of your brothers are arriving later this afternoon, but i wanted to see you first. to thank you. you fought for jon. you fought with jon. i wanted to thank you.” many of the brothers had betrayed him, she knows. not satin. one of the few left standing.
“he spoke highly of you. i know we haven’t formally been introduced by please, call me sansa.”
the title still leaves a strange taste in her mouth. she is sansa stark. just sansa. no crown will change it. “i have wine and food if you’re hungry.”

Continued from: dark, messy head cants to the side. there’s a rush that comes from standing over snape, wand out and ready, nobody around that gives a hippogriff’s arse what james does to him. he won’t really hurt him, of course. he’s not a real monster like those bastards in green snape runs with in his own house. sirius’s laugh over his shoulder makes james’s halfway amused expression blossom into a full grin. “now, don’t rush me, snivelly. that’s not polite.” more laughter, brighter (sharper) grin. “i’d like to make sure there’s a common consensus about the color before i spell that greasy mop atop your head…”
@pathstread
While politeness was the least of the Slytherin’s concerns at the moment, there was little he could do to escape from other James. Severus’ physical strength was far from impressive and there was no comparision to the physical strength of the Quiditch player, who likely didn’t have to try too hard to keep him down. At this point, any resistance would just lead to more embarassment for Snape, so he remained pinned onto the ground.
“What? Can’t make a choice on your own?” The words were muffled by the ground, but anything that would make this end faster was worth a try to the student.

@pathstread. elissa says : you haven’t been listening at all have you?
"no, i had been," tone distant & dry, she studies her fingernails; attending to the dirt that had accumulated beneath. with a put - upon sigh, she turns her gaze towards her sister, supposing she wasn't going to let the matter rest until she had been heard. "at first. i only stopped a moment or so ago," a lie, her attention had been lost quickly -- sometimes when elissa spoke, it felt a great deal like a lecture, and elethea had little interest in being lectured at all. "care to repeat it, if it is of such great importance?"
