The Lord's Passover
Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste—it is the Passover of Yahweh. — Exodus 12:11 | Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) Legacy Standard Bible Copyright ©2021 by The Lockman Foundation. Improving Our Serve
This photo is one of the world’s most famous paintings. It is a 15th Century mural painting by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting represents the scene of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ and His disciples. You can see how aghast they were at Jesus’ announcement that one of them would betray Him. Today is Holy Thursday when we recall way more than a painting. It is the day before Jesus’ crucifixion…

hi, just wanted to let you know that jewish voice for peace is not jewish and it's actually a very antisemitic org. if you speak to almost any jew on here, you will see how disliked JVP is within the community for them cosplaying jews and even had a sedar for passover that they spelt the hebrew wrong and was called out by jews for it. they even have a history of holocaust inversion, prompting "self conversion", and genuinely just saying and promoting antisemitic people and making actual jews very uncomfortable. and not an org i would promote nor want aligned with the pro-pal movement as a good jewish source, as they aren't.
I don't know about anything that tumblr says about JVP, honestly. All I know is the research I've done. All I know is what I've seen in the movement so far. And what I've seen is their support for the Jewish students at Columbia even before the encampments. What I've seen is the most visible representation of Jewish people allying themselves to the Palestinian cause so far. I've seen the connections between this organization and rabbis who are calling for ceasefire. What I've seen is the community's commitment to continued education on anti-zionism, and their support for Jewish people who grew up in Zionist families, who are trying to unlearn everything they've been taught - from counseling on how to talk to Zionist family members about the current situation to classes for younger members. I've made friends with Jewish members who are actively involved in the actions, including one who said herself that she’s found a kind of liberation participating in one of the art events that sprang out of the movement, because she'd been struggling to coincide her upbringing with her current beliefs. I've seen some of the members being called "self-hating Jews" or other verbal gymnastics just to justify lambasting their anti-Zionism.
I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert in this. I don’t have all the info. I'm not Jewish, I'm merely an ally. I'm willing to listen to credible sources if they tell me that this organization is not doing good work, or if they're spreading actual anti-Semitism and not just anti-Zionist or anti-Israel sentiments. Until then, I'm supporting any movement that gets actual work done on the ground instead of just talking online.

Holy Maundy Thursday
Remember when, on Thursdays, we often tagged our photos on social media #TBT (Throwback Thursday) – meaning a blast from the past. This is my little family in 1980 at our church in Shawnee, OK, It was a big deal — big enough to dress up for the big Easter celebration. Had to get those new Easter outfits and an Easter bonnet. I had enough hair back then, that unmistakably served as all the hat I…

Haven't had any bread the last few days because Pesach, and I've noticed that I have been feeling better???? Physically???
So yeah might have some gluten bullshit going on with my body. I think I'll try going gluten free for a while to see if this continues.

Matzo Polenta
Many years ago I decided to develop a Passover version of polenta — what my grandma called mamaliga — using matzo meal instead of corn meal.
The plain, version was beyond awful. My daughter said it tasted like a box.
But (never one to waste food) I mixed in some golden brown fried onions, celery and mushrooms, let the mixture chill inside a loaf pan, and when it was cold, I cut the loaf into slices and fried them until they were hot and crispy.
Perfection! A delicious side dish during Passover.

MATZO MEAL “POLENTA” CRISPS
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 large stalk celery, chopped
2 cups chopped mushrooms
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mixed herbs such as dill, basil, rosemary, thyme
2 cups vegetable or chicken stock
1 cup water
1 cup matzo meal
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1/2 cup grated Fontina cheese, optional
vegetable oil and/or butter for frying
Lightly grease a 9”x5”x3” loaf pan. Heat the olive oil in a saute pan over medium heat. Add the onion and celery and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes or until softened. Add the mushrooms, parsley and herbs and and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until all the liquid has evaporated from the pan. Set aside to cool slightly. Bring the stock and water to a boil in a large saucepan. Whisk constantly as you gradually add the matzo meal and cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the mixture is thick. Reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally for another 3-4 minutes or until the mixture is very thick. Stir in the vegetable mixture and season to taste with salt and pepper. Mix in the cheese of used. Spoon the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Refrigerate until cold, at least one hour. Unmold the loaf onto a cutting board and cut into 3/4-inch slices. Heat the vegetable oil and/or butter in a saute pan over medium heat. Cook the slices a few at a time, for 2-4 minutes per side, or until crispy. Makes 6-8 servings
