Hwang In-beom's Unlucky Club Career After
Hwang In-beom's Unlucky Club Career After Successfully Escaping Greece
Will Hwang In-beom, who moved to the Serbian League, be able to play 'happy football'
South Korea's national midfielder Hwang In-beom finally succeeded in escaping the "Greek Prison." However, it is regrettable that I had to be satisfied with the "lane" that avoided the worst situation again this time. Compared to the skills and achievements that have been proven so far, it is a club career that is not particularly fortunate.
FK Tsurvena Zvezda of the Serbian League announced the recruitment of Hwang In-beom on its official channel on September 5 (Korea Standard Time). The contract period is four years and the transfer fee has not been disclosed, but according to European media reports, it is estimated to be around 5.5 million euros (about 7.9 billion won). Serbian media reports that Hwang In-beom's transfer fee is the highest in the club's history and is a condition that he pays Olympiacos in three years.
Hwang has been in dispute with Olympiacos of the Greek league, now his former team, over the transfer until recently. Hwang In-beom, who joined Olympiacos in the 2022-23 season, played a total of 40 games and scored five goals and four assists, playing as a major player. In June, he was selected as the "Olympiacos Player of the Year" by fans, beating all of the team's star players Cedric Bakambu and Alexandros Paschalakis.
However, after the end of the 2022-2023 season, Hwang In-beom's side had a conflict when he asked Olympiacos to transfer. Olympiacos, who classified Hwang In-beom as an irreplaceable player, responded that he was embarrassed by Hwang In-beom's request. The club and local media criticized Hwang In-beom's request for a transfer and held a media war, saying it was inappropriate, and Olympiacos fans who were stimulated by it poured out malicious comments close to terrorism on Hwang In-beom through SNS.
Hwang In-beom's side claimed that the contract with Olympiacos last year was 1+2 years, and that after a year, it is possible to leave the team with a buyout clause of about 3 million euros. On the other hand, Olympiacos insisted on a three-year contract, and Hwang In-beom countered that there are still two more years left in the contract. The unresolved differences between the two sides eventually heralded a legal battle, deepening the conflict.
Hwang In-beom has already been excluded from both Olympiacos' pre-season and UEFA Europa League third qualifying list. Olympiacos made it clear that it would not let Hwang In-beom go easily, setting his transfer fee at least 10 million euros (about 14.5 billion won). The longer the dispute with the club and the longer the time it takes to not play in the game, the more damage the player suffers.
In the end, the two sides stepped back one by one and sought the next best option. Among the many European clubs that paid attention to Hwang In-beom's skills, Zvezda reached out most actively. Olympiacos is only half of the transfer fee originally demanded, but it still made a profit with a higher amount than the buyout claimed by Hwang In-beom. Hwang In-beom, who almost became an international missing child, took a breather as he was able to avoid a prolonged transfer dispute and continue his European career.
As Hwang's new team, Tsurbena Zvezda is based in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, and is a prestigious Eastern European club that divides rival FK Partizan and the Serbian League.
Since his predecessor, Serbia Yugoslavia, Zvezda has won a total of 34 times (9 Serbian leagues), the most wins in history in the first division. In 1991, he won the European Cup and the Toyota Cup (now the Club World Cup), the predecessors of the European Champions League. It is still a team that has consistently been on the stage of European club competitions, winning six consecutive Superliga titles from the 2017-18 season to the 2022-23 season. Zvezda's Serbian Superliga club ranking is 13th, higher than Olympiacos' 19th in the Greek league.
However, domestic soccer fans are delighted with the news of Hwang In-beom's escape from Greece, but on the other hand, they are regretful that they could not go to the top European leagues again this time. Hwang In-beom, who started his professional career in the K League Daejeon Citizen (currently Daejeon Hana Citizen) in 2015, has been having an unusual club career leading to the U.S. → Russia → Korea → Greece → Serbia since he first entered overseas through the U.S. Major League Soccer Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019.
Hwang In-beom's career is exceptionally complicated and eventful compared to the route in which players who advance from Korea to Europe sign contracts with overseas youth teams from their youth, or go through small and medium-sized leagues in Europe to big leagues step by stepIt is difficult. Considering that Hwang In-beom is a proven player who can be considered a key player in the national team and is in his heyday, it is said that he should have knocked on the door of the big leagues earlier.
In fact, looking back, Hwang In-beom did not have many opportunities to freely choose his team he wanted to go with his will. The trip to the U.S., which was his first overseas expansion, was also embroiled in controversy after it was reported that his former club and agent pushed for a move to a major league club that offered better financial conditions, ignoring the player's intention to go to Europe.
In 2020, Hwang In-beom's first European team, Rubin Kazan in the Russian league, seemed to be on the verge of entering the big league as an ace, but this time an unexpected variable called the "Russia-Ukraine War" occurred. As the Russian Football Association and the Russian League were virtually expelled from FIFA and UEFA, Hwang In-beom, who had a contract with Rubin Kazan, became in a difficult situation.
In the end, Hwang In-beom was able to leave the Russian league by temporarily suspending his contract with Kazan using FIFA's special provisions. After that, in order to maintain a sense of play, he had to go through a short-term lease to FC Seoul in the K League and then move back to Olympiacos in Greece. However, the complicated status and contract terms in the process hampered Hwang In-beom's departure from Olympiacos 토토사이트
Even until recently, Hwang In-beom has reportedly received attention from several big league clubs, including Italy's Serie A and Germany's Bundesliga. However, there was no club that could meet the excessive transfer fee demanded by Olympiacos.
Hwang Inbeom, don't sign all the contracts in Zvezda

Before you pack your hat, sunscreen and cell phone as you gear up to head off to the beach this summer, make sure you download the free app from nongovernmental organization Safe Water Sports, which provides crucial information to make a day at more that 3,000 Greek beaches a safe one.
“The app lists all of the businesses that are licensed to rent out watersports equipment or provide related services in the country, as well, of course, as the current legislation pertaining to these activities,” noted Dr Panagiotis Paschalakis, the head of the NGO, at a recent press conference. “So far, the Shipping Ministry has issued licenses for 200 to 250 of the existing 700 watersports businesses, but the numbers change every day.”
Paschalakis founded Safe Water Sports in 2015 after the tragic death of his 10-year-old son at a beach on the holiday island of Myconos. The objective of the NGO, which receives funding from the Latsis Foundation and National Bank of Greece, is to root out and highlight infringements of watersports laws and also to create a safety net for children and adults engaging in such activities at the country’s beaches.
