Quick portrait (6 hours or so) of Koram aka crazy mom from "Parumu no Ki". I keep forgetting to post stuff here bc no one cares probs lol anyway. I really enjoyed the film, I think it's truly great and highly recommend it if you are into surreal anime like myself 😅.

Today’s animated film is: “A Tree of Palme” (2002)
“Palme is a puppet created by a man for his sickly wife. After her death, Palme becomes paralyzed with sorrow until he happens to cross paths with a woman being pursued who asks him to deliver something precious to a sacred place called Tama.”

One thing that struck me about Tree of Palme was how Otomo-esque it was (as far as the cinematic pans, focus on detail in action sequences, and sci-fi environments with a Moebius touch).
It turns out Takashi Nakamura (the director) and Toshiyuki Inoue (the Character designer) both did key animation in Akira (Toshiyuki Inoue also did animation for Roujin Z and the character design for Magnetic Rose).
Palme even pulls a Tetsuo at the end of the movie (except with plant matter and not fleshy-goop).
