𝓉𝑒𝒶𝒿𝒶𝓍 : tea x ajax

ajax is no stranger to danger — it comes with the territory of being a fatui harbinger. though, these days, he finds himself carefully considering what used to be an instinct to jump into battle. after all, if he comes back bruised and battered, it would make his dearest tea worry.
for @teataglia ♡
#— teajax!#now why on earth did my phone autocorrect ur ship name to ‘tw ajax’#i’m sorry lmao i had to inform u#alas! no warning is necessary when this ginger is with his dearest tea!!!#waaahhhh u guys are such and autumn couple to me!! all the lingering warmth of summer with the equally warm hues of changing leaves :3#also the dynamic!! i am a sucker for the hardened warrior who is very much a softy for his lover ♡#particularly with childe. bc i feel like people are always questioning his motives#but there's none of that in ur relationship! he is nothing short of genuine when it comes to loving u -- no question about it!#and that much is just proof of how special u are to him :3 and how u have become a safe space for him! he can let his guard down around u#without a second thought! 🥺#if home was a person for childe it would be u~

i have so many fucking thoughts about the miraculous movie.
the motivations and characterization was just seriously rushed. they didn’t show me jack shit, they just needed characters to accomplish certain goals and told us they were doing it and that it made sense, but there was no heart or real motivation.
the songs were generic and had little to no personality, they sound like they were written to be relatable and easily streamable rather than to be character portrayals.
it really feels like they were afraid to really get into miraculous lore, everything was so watered down. it made no sense for them to have a lovesquare rather than ladynoir because adrien and marinette barely interacted.
many of you im sure filled in the gaps by things you know from the series, but that’s not how this movie should function. it’s clearly an au and needs to be standalone. if you hadn’t seen the show, would you really think an adrienette ending made more sense than ladynoir based on how it was set up? on that, were ANY ships set up particularly well? marinette goes from truly being annoyed but chat noir but less than 2 minutes ago was terrified and didn’t want to be ladybug at all but now is sassy to him? not only that but she really wasn’t all that competent and clearly disliked chat, why was he so obsessed with her competence and insistent on being with her? it wasn’t explained well and i felt like the writers just expected me to remember the origins episode instead of what i’d just watched here.
on that note… why does everyone want gabriel to be redeemed so badly? why do you feel it’s so appropriate for him to be redeemed here? not all villains need redeemed. this seems to be the major difference between zag and astruc; chloe and hawkmoth are both redeemed /watered down to be likable in this movie. astruc holds his ground and says some people can be redeemed but not everyone will. like real life. because some people are assholes.
don’t get me wrong, i don’t love lila or chloe’s exaggerated evilness. but 1) it’s a fucking superhero drama, without assholes we run out of secondary conflict inherent to the genre 2) hawkmoths exaggerated evilness is what gives him SPICE, taking it away from him here just leaves him so goddamn bland. oh the terrorist wants to be redeemed bc he was sad about his wife despite saying he had nothing to lose even in the movie with a fucking child? nah. no way. fuck that.
chat noir was fucking weird about his crush. 0/10 from me.
i did like marinettes clumsiness and her general disaster aura and how it has a real effect on whether people like her or want to be around her — the show grew out of this by s2, similar to the montage here, but it’s more prominent here. i like this clumsiness and social anxiety portrayal slightly more. but s1 will always have a bit of my heart for disasternette
very little got explained well; i felt like i was relying on the show for lore to fill in very basic gaps which isn’t good for a standalone movie. the lore in general wasn’t well explained.
the whole time i sort of just wished i was watching this in the show tbh. another what-if situation. i’d love for the alt versions to meet and exchange lives for a day to point out the differences.
no sentimonster adrien here. where is the lore. :(
other ppl said this better but adriens story and motivations are nonexistent or very different to the show to the point of unrecognizability. show adrien wanted friends, movie adrien shuts them out. it’s not necessarily the worst change but it does feel odd.
fart jokes. ://///
nino and alya were cute separately as friends to the lead characters, but the romance subplot between them felt super forced and rushed compared to their real chemistry in the show.
anyways.
the show >>>>>>>>>> the movie
it’s not even a question for me.
also you guys hate on astruc so much but zag seems to be the one watering down characters and making them generic and marketable. astruc has the heart of the series and keeps the characters feeling authentic. he lets them grow in truly unique ways and gives them real goddamn conflict unlike the garbage zag led projects lead to.

Saul Wrong?
I have many controversial BrBa/BCS opinions, but the one that I always come back to is that Saul Goodman worked way better as a comic relief supporting character than as a protagonist of his own show.
I actually found him more likeable when he was an unapologetic sleazebag, it was when they tried to make me feel sorry for him in his own show that I lost sympathy. His pathological criminality brings out my inner Howard/Chuck, I guess. It's like....dude...why are you like this? And I don't necessarily feel like the show does a very good job of explaining it. At a young age he sees his father getting taken advantage of by conmen, and apparently accepts the (deeply morally cynical) attitude that the world is separated into hustlers (wolves) and marks (sheep.) His parents seem to have been totally normal people for whom he felt affection but no respect, because he can't stand rubes, and that's what they were. His brother Chuck is not a rube and is the family member whose affection and respect Jimmy seems to covet the most, though it's not clear whether he has any awareness that the very quality that makes his brother's esteem worth having (his commitment to an objective standard of morality—the fact that he can see through Jimmy's bullshit) is the one thing that prevents them from understanding one another.
Somehow the fact that Walt lived a (basically) normal life until his cancer diagnosis, and everything he does is predicated on his awareness of his own mortality, makes the character's moral fall from grace...more understandable to me? He obviously has a bunch of bottled up petty resentments and a sense of having wasted his potential, but I find his pathology way more coherent than Jimmy/Saul's. I think this is really because he was always the main character of a show, and Saul got a gigantic retconned deep backstory for the spin-off which, while enjoyable, was very obviously not the point of that character when he was created. BCS had to answer the question, "why would someone become like this?" but I wonder if there really is a particularly satisfying way to explain why a comic relief criminal lawyer would choose to work with a person like Walt.
I think BrBa did a better job of showing how Walt self-justifies his awful behavior (compartmentalization, projection, guilt) but Jimmy/Saul seems to have something missing (a sympathy chip? He's capable of feeling compassion for people he relates to, but no sense of seeing value in any abstract principle.) Why are you so obsessed with breaking the rules, dude? His brother is basically correct in their final conversation when he assesses Jimmy as behaving like a child who refuses to acknowledge the consequences of his actions beyond how they hurt him. Every moral consideration is made in terms of his subjective feelings. Him feeling entitled to a high-profile job at his brother's law firm when his brother had to bail him out of serious legal problems is really kind of insane.
Maybe the real problem for me is that Walt is obsessed with gaining respect and Jimmy is obsessed with being liked, and at the end of the day as a motivation for villainy in a man, I.....kind of find the latter more pathetic than the former.
#breaking bad#better call saul#saul goodman#jimmy mcgill#walter white#breaking bad meta#better call saul meta#this isn't exhaustive but i've been thinking about this for awhile#even the courtroom scene with kim just reads as him wanting her to not hate him#i will give him credit for admitting he is responsible for his brother's death however#i think i might've realized jimmy reminds me of my dead father in not a good way lol#i don't think i have a super high tolerance for really emotionally needy men#with walt at least it's usually played for laughs more than sympathy

questionable quality summary of svern
heehee silly guy with problems
almost every mannerism he expresses is fabricated
his emotional experience is severely stunted and if he's not faking expression then he mostly just. doesn't express anything at All
the latter is an inbuilt feature, the former is a mechanism he developed to Fit In & Mask (which he does very well)
people still think he is a weirdo because he likes to act in ways that go against common sense, but now it's intentional so he enjoys it
absurdly smart and naturally gifted. bsders understand what I mean by this, normal people underestimate my intended scope
severely stunted emotional experience + very smart and good at things which he mostly doesn't value + people finding him strange & offputting, him finding people strange & stupid
= bored always, quickly achieves disillusionment and cynicism and struggles generally to find any value in life. therefore, nihilism
his paternal grandfather has the same issues as him and encouraged him to a) learn to act to deceive ppl (he didn't see why he should bother at first, because Why Should He Have To. seems like a them problem) and b) fake it til you make it (follow even the smallest impulse or thought no matter whether it's "real" in order to make life tolerable. search out whatever gives you some kind of feeling, real or fabricated, no matter how fleeting or temporary
besides being generally alienated and aware that people thought he was weird and creepy, which was annoying but mostly meh, babey svern was also bullied by an older cousin who is tentatively named luke but who I mostly just call The Asshole Cousin. this was not a single motivating factor for anything but did contribute as you expect and provided a source of ongoing drama growing up
for the next parts to make sense, I need to explain that he is (originally) a POKEMON OC, particularly with influence and inspiration from POKEMON RANGER SHADOWS OF ALMIA
not-so-babey svern (preteens and up) started taking advantage of the fact that he owned a ditto which could shapeshift into a copy of him and started running off looking for Excitement while his ditto covered for him. he hated his home life bc even after he started acting "normal" and people were less overtly weird about him he was resentful about the fact this was necessary :) and also he thought most of the people he was around were stupid anyways
girl your emotional walls are high and impenetrable and you trust nobody
also forgot to mention that he was a rich kid. this is kind of important for the general idea of his child/home environment oops
another very random pointless detail he really likes bugs
anyway fast forward to when he's a young adult and he goes to a certain region to study and because he's still bored as fuck he joins the local criminal organisation for funsies. under a fake identity ofc.
if you didn't realise already, "svern" is also not his legal name nor is his usual appearance how he looks as his """"real""""" identity
oh yeah he's also really good at parkour and he likes playing around with dressing in different clothes and dressing up and trying different hair and all kinds of things. wait what was I talking about
um. he joined this criminal organisation and ended up coming into contact with a Weird Fucking Rock that tldr is basically formed by a huge amount of accumulated negative emotions and which for some reason canonically has made a guy so obsessed with it that he dedicated his teenage son to it and changed his son's name in honour of it and spoke. very reverentially about it
The Rock is Weird and Causes Problems. the whole story of the game happens mostly because this rock is Weird and Causes Problems and has Effects on ppl. its name is the Shadow Crystal
anyway svern met the shadow crystal and also got obsessed with it because of the way the thing works. I've written complex lore on this on his blog which is too long and difficult to replicate here rn. tldr it interacts with emotions and desires and bypasses sense so it just. made him inexplicably fascinated. and he was like Fuck Yes finally something in this wretched world worth living for
svern then dedicated Himself to the shadow crystal :-)
this will. definitely not have Consequences
#if you read all of this and weren't already familiar with the svern lore. Thank you & I am sorry#this is. a shortened version of everything going on with him as it is I fear but that could just be me#it is late and i have a cold and i was not aiming for coherency

quick q since i saw that u were an edenP, is ibara similar to azul twst? They r giving me the same vibes. I wanna know so i can decide if i wanna pull/tier for him
ANON........ anon. i have been asking that exact question to myself too sjdfksj
they do give off the same vibes. megane boys who run businesses + loves to scheme. (if i had a nickel for every time my favorite character in a game was a megane who had a lot of money and likes to scheme i'd have two, maybe two and a half nickels bc one of them isn't a schemer)
but i think there's some key differences between them ? and if you get into them more ig it's mostly their aura that's kinda similar. imma do a short thing just comparing them a bit. (ok it turned out to be long so i put it under a cut)
so azul ashengrotto, we know what azul is like. he does practically anything to turn a profit as long as he has it under control in a contract. he has the leeches, who are his childhood friends but he's also wary of them bc they might usurp his position as dorm leader. (i'm sure they won't but it's funny to watch him be wary) he's cunning and makes detailed contracts in order to trap his prey, and in the end he gets what he wants, mostly. and also he's unathletic sjdkfjs his powers lie more on his immense mastery over his magic rather than his physical abilities.
and as for his personality, he's smart. but he has his insecurities, since he was subjected to bullying all because of his looks since he was a child. he doesn't like showing strong emotions or crying because it reminds him of what it was like to be weak like when he was younger. he would also be nice but claim that there was an ulterior motive, and will not rest until a favor is repaid. that all works into his benevolent persona that he puts on when conducting business.
another important thing is that to him success is running a good business all on his own (mostro lounge) and making it more and more successful over time. and also the fact that he does have a loving mom and step dad (+ the ristorante staff who always dote on him) after all, he's put in all this hard work, anyone can see that he will probably get the goals that he's striving for.
saegusa ibara, on the other hand, has some similarities. his position is the vice president or deputy director of cosmic productions or cospro for short. he was the bastard son of the previous owner of cospro, but his parents abandoned him to an orphanage. shortly after he was turned over to a military camp, so yes mr sir was in the military as a kid, which explains why he's physically fit + keeps talking abt attacking and counter attacking in his room lines jsdfkj (also he was in this camp with yuzuru who is a part of fine but he left and they had a falling out)
since he was the only living descendant he inherited many properties at the ripe age of 12 or 13. the company (and other affiliates) at that time were falling apart, so while he was in middle school he spent a lot of time rebuilding it. he has a deep distrust for people bc of those days where adults would try to use him for their own benefit, and he would always assume that any kindness has a price attached no matter who it was.
ibara is known as overly personable. he's really friendly and knows exactly which words to say to make people let down their guard. he's also known for putting a distance between him and others, even with his own members. he calls them "business partners" instead of friends bc he wants to avoid getting close. ah, he's also good at being passive aggressive, he could make a compliment feel like a threat in seconds. he also believes himself to be lesser than his fellow unit members, particularly nagisa, so he works to "uplift his excellency's magnificent performance" instead of working to stand on the same plane as him.
(it's kinda sad...bc he's actually really kind by nature. he won't go against any of his member's wishes and if people refuse to do something, he'll come up with an alternate plan on how to do it in a way that suits them... but bc of the way he grew up he can't really allow himself to be outwardly kind in fear of getting used)
a lot of people call him the "viper of cospro" bc of his cunning plans or strategies to put eden on the top. he's also eden's manager, on top of being a group member, acting like a shield from the many shady board of directors members that he hasn't weeded out yet. he doesn't like showing others the efforts he puts into himself and his own performance (e.g. solo practices, training in gym). to him, success is world domination. or in this case making eden the best of the best of the idol world AND having cospro under his thumb.
sorry this ended up so long, but i just wanted to showcase the similarities n differences between the two T^T i think if you like ibara's character then definitely go for it !! ibara does have a lot of similarities outwardly with azul but their pasts are very much diverged and their internal motivations also differ so they both make for interesting characters >:DD
#/trau replies#/anonnie#enstars *shakes fist*#you know i'll write an essay#if it's abt my faves <33#another key difference#if azul doesn't like something he'll voice it right away#ibara will continue to smile and act normal#and he'll get rid of it later on jskfdfk#ibara's super committed to his friendly act#he won't put it down unless he's behind a literal closed door#meanwhile azul would drop it if it's not useful to the situation#azul ashengrotto#ibara saegusa#saegusa ibara

Hiiiii can I please request shigaraki being insecure and the reader finds out and showers him with love, btw please make it super fluffy
I will take any and EVERY opportunity to show this man my undying love and adoration so yes
tw: FLUFF!!! tooth rot, seriously get checked for cavities after this one guys its disgusting <3 some sads too bc i can, very negative self-talk, a very brief mention of death, hurt/comfort
You had always looked up to him.
In your eyes, there was no reason not to. He was motivated, passionate, and cunning. He had big plans and he knew how to get things done. He was a strong and confident leader that was going to change the world. There was a fire in his eyes that you knew came from deep within his soul and it made you weak in the knees when you saw it. It was beautiful. HE was beautiful. To you, he was perfect.
And so, one night while you were both alone at the bar and Shigaraki had had probably one too many drinks, when he started asking you about love... you weren’t really sure what to say.
“Y/N... Haveyou ever been inlove beforee?” He gazed over at you with a goofy drunken smile, words softly slurring together. It was kind of cute. He was never like this, he was always so calm and composed, and he was hardly ever chatty. Kurogiri had warned you that your boss had had a particularly bad day before he went to bed for the night, and you weren’t really sure what to make of the odd mood your leader seemed to be in.
“Uh, no... I don’t think so? Why do you ask?” you smiled and cocked your head to the side, nervous and hoping he would explain.
He grumbled as his smile fell, “I don believeyou.” Frowning, he turned back toward the bar and took another swig from the bottle he'd been nursing, grimacing at the strong taste of the whiskey.
You laughed a bit at the way he seemed to be pouting, “What do you mean?”
He continued to grumble, more at the bottle in his hands than you it seemed, “Withyour looks, ’m sure iss nothard to find love... Guys prolly throw thmslves atyouu ev'ry chance thy get.” You were silent, unsure how to respond or why he was being so... strange. He was usually so composed and sure of himself. Why did he seem so... Off?
“Imean,” he continued, “People muss fawn over you allthe time! I can’t imagine what it must be like for people to wanna lookat you like that...” He looked so... sad? No, you knew this feeling. He was... insecure?
You couldn’t believe it. Or, you supposed, you just wouldn’t have guessed. He carried himself with such pride and intent that he seemed untouchable, almost inhumanly so. But now, as you watched his sullen face glare at his reflection in the bottle, the look in his eyes made you want to reach out and hold him.
“All right, boss. You’re done.” You took the drink from him and helped him to his feet, grabbing a bottle of water from the mini fridge before helping him to his room. Kurogiri must have just cleaned up, because his room was surprisingly spotless.
Shigaraki allowed your help, something you were sure he never would have tolerated while completely sober. You sat him on his bed and gave him the water bottle, instructing him to drink it. You waited, sitting in his gaming chair while he sipped at the water. You took the chance to look around a bit, he had a pretty cool gaming setup. All of it was most certainly stolen, which only made you smile. While you were looking through his games, you heard soft sniffling coming from his direction.
When you looked over at him, you were stunned to see tears flowing gently down his face. He made almost no sound, just occasionally sniffing and hiccuping, his gaze firmly fixed on the floor.
You moved without thinking. Suddenly you were kneeling in front of him on the floor and cradling his face in your soft hands. He reluctantly met your eyes, and that seemed to break him. His cries were still quiet, as if he didn't want to disturb the silence that had wrapped around the two of you. You recognized it. It was the kind of cry you learn as a child when making noise or being noticed in any way would absolutely result in more pain. It broke your heart to watch his whole body shake and jerk from the strength of his silent sobs, and he couldn't seem to look at you anymore.
“Tomura, please look at me,” using his first name felt more appropriate than anything else given the circumstances. You wiped your thumbs through the stream of tears, trying to lift his face. “Tell me what I can do to help? Tell me what’s wrong.”
“P-please...” was all he could seem to get out in between his chest heaving. He lifted his arms before hesitating briefly, before fully reaching for you.
You instantly understood what he needed. Something about this should have probably felt uncomfortable to you, but you couldn't seem to feel anything other than an all-encompassing need to comfort him. You helped him to his feet for the second time that night, and he swayed weakly. You pulled the covers back on his bed and you helped him lie down, carefully following him. You tucked the covers back over the two of you and when he reached for you again you let him pull you to his chest. He buried his head in your neck, and you wrapped one arm around his waist and the other cradled the back of his head. You just... held each other while he shook.
It seemed like the more time that passed, the tighter he held you. As if he were afraid that you would disappear if he let you slip through his fingers. You stroked his hair gently and rubbed slow circles into his back. By the time his tears stopped falling, the pillow and your shoulder were both damp with them. “Talk to me?” you whispered, worried that if you spoke too loudly, you might frighten him.
He took a deep breath and his chest seemed to revolt against it. “I’m sorry,” he choked out. “You can-,” he heaved, “You can leave. I don’t want to...” He took another deep breath, “Keep you.” He didn’t lift his head, but he did reluctantly release his vice grip on you.
You shook your head, snuggling closer to him and tightening your hold on him. He pulled his head back, finally looking at you again, his face full of confusion. You stroked his cheek softly with your thumb, “You’re not a burden, and I want to be here with you.” You smiled at him softly, and his face contorted into a pained sob as he shook again. He wrapped his arms back around you and laughed, but it was a small, broken sound. “You better be careful, if you keep talking like that I might never let you go.” If he meant it as a threat, it sounded more like a promise. “I’m counting on it,” is all you said.
It was a while before he spoke again, and when he did it still sounded pained, “Why... would you want to be here? With me?” he didn’t look at you, but you could hear the furrow in his brows. “I don’t understand the question,” still quiet, still running your fingers through his hair. The broken laugh came again, “Oh come ON, you’d never look at me with anything other than pity, right? I’m so sad, and pitiful, and hideous. No one could EVER look at me with anything other than fear, or pity. Or disgust.” By the end, his voice was full of malice and bitterness, but it wasn’t directed at you. He just held you closer, clutching you like a life-line. “And the worst part is that I don’t even blame you! I can’t stand to look at myself in the mirror. I look like a zombie, like a dried-up corpse that clawed it’s way from the grave because it was too stubborn and stupid to just DIE when it had the chance.” You listened in stunned silence as he dug into himself, his body shaking with hatred and anger now. You ran your hand up and down his back in an attempt to calm him.
“I don’t see you that way,” you kept your voice soft and even. In this moment, he reminded you very much of a wounded animal. And you knew better than to startle him or back him into a corner.
He snorted, “Oh really? And how is it that you see me?”
“You are... Everything.” You said simply.
He hesitated, pulling away once again to look at you. “I don’t... I don’t understand.”
You smiled, “To me, you are everything. I see you in everything. You are the moon and the stars, you are the sound of ocean waves, you’re the smell of the air after it rains, you're the glow of city lights in the middle of the night, and you’re the wind during a storm. You're strong and brilliant and beautiful and I have never seen you as anything other than absolutely, awe-inspiringly perfect.”
You watched the look on his face shift several times in the next few moments. From shock to confusion, to disbelief, to something that might have looked like hope if there wasn’t so much pain there too. Fresh tears welled up in his eyes. “Don’t fuck with me. Please. I physically won't be able to handle it.” His eyes didn’t leave yours, looking for any sign that you were lying or making fun of him. You just smiled at him and stroked his face gently. “You’re not... You’re not fucking with me?” You shook your head.
“Oh,” was all he seemed to be able to say for a minute as he watched you just... look at him and touch his face. All he could see in your eyes was adoration where the disgust should have been. You were touching his face like it was precious. You were conflicting with everything he knew to be true about himself. And it felt... oddly comforting. He couldn’t begin to understand what you saw in him that made you look at him like that, but he could see that what you felt was genuine. The look in your eyes made him feel just a little bit... loved?
There was a sudden urgency in his chest that he felt he had to act on, but it also made him incredibly nervous. “C-can I... uh,” He looked away, but put a hand on your cheek. “’ Can you... uh’ what?” and you were blushing when he looked back at you.
“Can I... kiss you? Please...” when you smiled, he thought he might melt.
When your lips finally met, his were quivering slightly, like he was afraid he might enjoy it too much and then you'd rip it away from him. You kissed him gently, trying to put all the love you had into it so he could feel it. He balled his hands into fists in the back of your shirt and kissed you back with more intent, and you matched his intensity.
When you both pulled away for air, you took a deep breath, “I love you. I always have.”
His eyes went wide and he thought his heart might beat completely out of his chest. He actually smiled, and it made your heart swell. “I love you too.”
You smiled, reached behind you to turn off the lamp, and snuggled into his chest. You held each other until you fell asleep, and for the first time in his life, Tomura Shigaraki fell asleep with a smile on his face.

This isn’t THE tommyinnit villain essay but it sure is one of them
Ok ok so 4 those of u who aren't on discord with me: i have two main essays that have been in the works for MONTHS, these being my Complete Dream character analysis essay going in-depth for nearly all of his canon interactions and finding his character traits and motivations through the story, and my Tommyinnit (and Wilbur Soot) were Always The Villains on the server essay talking about how the only reason so many people view them as the good guys or heroes is because we see the story from their perspective mainly. This essay? Is not either of those. BUT, it does go through a lot of my thoughts on Tommy and Dream’s characters so I figured I’d post it. maybe itll help me organize my thoughts 4 my Mega Projects lol
@ranboocore bc u helped me pop off on this so hard LMAO
Warning, it’s VERY Tommy Critical, what a suprise. I do not like Tommy as a character lol. idk what triggers yall might need me to tag but if u need one in particular pls lmn!
My biggest issue with tommy's character is that he SAYS hes learned but he never does he is exactly the same person he was at the start of the server just More Sad and with Trauma, when out of all the characters he's had the most push to change. c!Tommy is a very tell-don't-show character which can make it hard for some people to connect to him, especially those who don’t directly share his trauma or see themselves in his character. Of course, there is still a MASSIVE amount of people who relate to his struggles and thus love him regardless of his writing, but those who can't relate to him will always feel some kind of barrier until the things they've talked about are actually shown to the viewer instead of being spoon-fed to them.
It is a very beginner writing thing, and I'm hoping that Tommy is figuring out how to fix this, maybe with support from the many other writers on the server. There's the 3 you mentioned, plus fundy, niki, and maybe tubbo who also play dnd, plus Dream who said he would've been an English major and does a lot of personal writing for fun. I think the biggest issue in the writing lies in the individual ccs being inexperienced in the medium, particularly with planning out their own character growth.
Another glaring issue I have with c!Tommy is how he's framed to be sympathetic and he goes through all these horrible things without acknowledging his role in any of them. The things that have happened to him are a direct result of his actions, but the thing is HE won't acknowledge and so it falls flat. This isn’t to say that being abused is his fault, because it’s NEVER the vicitm’s fault, but being exiled? His multiple fights with c!Dream? His friendships falling apart? Losing the disks in the first place? They’re the direct consequences of HIS OWN actions, but he never acknowledges this and constantly just... brushes off any accountability by either saying that it’s Dream fault or simply SAYING he feels bad without properly showing it through redemption and GROWTH.
Denial is useful in storytelling sometimes, but Tommy's character has been in denial since the very beginning of the server and at this point it's just exhausting. He only ever switches between denial and depression, not really going through all 5 stages of grief properly. His violent/upset reactions would be more powerful if they were any different from how tommy usually acts, but this is always how he is. When he “lashes out” because he’s reached the end of his patience, it doesn’t SEEM like the snap it is because that’s just... it’s seriously just his standard reaction to everything. It hold no WEIGHT to see c!Tommy yell at someone violently or threaten to fight them because he does that anyways!
Static characters can be a good thing, and can be interesting if done correctly, but not every character SHOULD or CAN be static in a story.
Static characters need to have their position or behavior challenged and question, where they look into if the way they see and interact with the world is really the 'correct' one or just evaluated to see if they truly believe in them. This questioning period is CRUCIAL! and NEEDS to be well done in a way that ACTIVELY SHOWS the conflict between the two ideals. If they decide to hold onto their beliefs/continue their behavior then, it feels deserved, because rather than just being a flat "they do thing its who they are" they have defined WHY. WHY is a very important question to think of when telling the difference between dynamic and static characters. The why of a character is ESSENTIAL to developing them as a relatable, sympathetic person rather than a flat story telling device. It makes them a human rather than a puppet. When a character's motives aren't well defined or discussed, they're doomed to fall flat in everything else, because the WHY is the foundation of what makes them who they are.
c!Tommy has an underdeveloped "why", his motivations are weak, rarely properly discussed and when they are it doesn't particularly stick with him. His motivations change without showing us the internal struggle that should come from literally shifting your driving principles. There are some good MOMENTS of him reevaluating the importance of certain things, but they're so spread out and contradictory and immediately spat one that they're hard to piece together. He TELLS us what his motivations are as well, which is another big flaw when it comes to all that but we don't have time to unpack all THAT Anyways, the key to static story telling is reaffirmation. The character goes through a complete journey and ends with the same beliefs because they've looked into why they have them and determined that they still matter to them. A great example of static writing in my eyes is c!Techno, who since the beginning has believed that governments are bad. c!Techno enters the server to destroy a government, and still ends up doing that because he sees and we see him experience that the reasons he didn't like government before still hold true and he has no reason to support them any more than before, and so his anarchist beliefs are REAFFIRMED, proving to him that they way he handles things is the right one for him.
c!Tommy’s attachments are all just... they're all so weird. like he LITERALLY SACRIFICES HIS LIFE MULTIPLE TIMES for L'manburg. By action of sacrifice it seems like it should be the most important thing to him, but then he throws it away for some disks that mattered less to him just a minute ago. But then it's all about how c!Tubbo is worth more than Anything and maybe he's found something more important! but then he shoves THAT out the window for the discs again ig!!! but then it's about l’manburg again? Make it make sense.... pls....
Here's smth that really irks me about Tommy's character, and is kind of weird but give me a second to explain: Tommy has never actually permanently lost much of anything on the server. Every punishment he's ever received he's tried to find some way around. And like... I'm not expecting him to be HAPPY to face the consequences of his actions but seeing him constantly have his cake and eat it too is very irritating, especially when there are characters who DO have to deal with actual permanent sacrifices. The whole thing with the disks. where he WILLINGLY OFFERED THEM UP AND GAVE THEM AWAY THEN SPENT FOREVER TRYING TO STEAL THEM BACK WHILE CLAIMING DREAM STOLE THEM FROM HIM, is the biggest example of this, but it's generally his characters way of dealing with things. He's very backhanded and conniving, constantly calling himself "big man" except for when he wants things from people and he plays up the "iM a MiNoR" card to try and get them to give him things or feel bad. He's not just some sweet innocent kid like people paint him, he knows damn well he's messed up and while he SAYS he feels bad about it, he has never once really shown, with his ACTIONS, regret for what he's done except for the stuff with c!Sapnap, which could it could be argued he did because he thought it would help get c!Sapnap on his side to fight Dream and he knew c!Sapnap was a skilled warrior and could possibly be persuaded to fight with dream.
c!Tommy is in NO way some sweet innocent child, he knows what he's doing. He KNEW l'manburg was a drug empire, and wanted to turn his hotel into the same He was FULLY prepared to just murder c!Schlatt for legally winning an election that he KNEW was rigged AND INTENDED TO HELP RIG HE LITERALLY TEAMED UP WITH c!TECHNOBLADE KNOWING THAT HE INTENDED TO BLOW UP L'MANBURG AND ONLY LEFT WHEN HE REALIZED IT WASN'T GOING TO ACTUALLY HELP HIM--
The line of c!Wilbur saying "Tommy, are we the bad guys?" wasn't him mentally going batshit it was him realizing that the entire time they've been doing terrible things. c!Wilbur was literally ALWAYS Vilbur but the time people CALL Vilbur is when c!Will himself realized he was a villain.
#like. VERY critical#i do not like the child can you tell?#im sorry tommy fans but i am not one of you#and before you ask: Yes I have and do watch his perspective of the SMP just so i can try to understand his thought process#dream smp#dsmp#dream smp analysis#dsmp analysis#critical analysis#prince/pea and i pop off about this so much LOL#this is the first of MANY essays/collective analysis bits ive written about Tommy#lets see how many ill have by the time i finish going through the discord#tommyinnitcritical#discourse#ig. i saw a lot of ppl asking 4 this tag on similar posts so i thought id add it?

Aside from oc ship with chamber, do you also ship other valo agents with him like cyber, yomber or sosaber?
Yes! I particularly enjoy Yomber. Def not a fan of Cyber and Sosaber tho, or Sage/Chamber and Sova/Chamber for that matter. My opinion with most valo ships is and will always be: the only reason people like it is because they look aesthetically pleasing together/their personalities go well together and that’s fine as long as they don’t try to defend it with (1) singular voiceline or badly interpreted lore. And I find this to be particularly true with Chamber ships. Chamber is an enigma and I find him notoriously hard to “shippy ship”.
I feel like he’d do casual flings at most bc his work doesn’t allow him to settle down with someone. Due to his somewhat questionable? motivations, I find it hard to ship him with anyone in the protocol who’s faint of heart, too pure hearted or not interested in shady business. Think any of the younger girls, Sage and Sova. I like to imagine him getting chummy with some of the ‘older’ agents just for his own benefit like Viper, Brim and Reyna but nothing serious. I like him having a thing with Yoru or Phoenix bc they both have the annoying, boastful boy vibes and I feel like Chamber would enjoy the mental challenge of getting them to show their true selves. Chamber/Astra and Chamber/Kay/O are fine just not for me.
Sosaber is an OT3 I don’t understand. I don’t see the appeal. I don’t like any of the individual ships either. OT3s in general are a bit iffy for me bc I’d never polyship my own OC and I’ve never had a canon OT3 that really really I liked. But that aside, I will never understand why people ship Sova or Sage with Chamber. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Sorry!
And I find ships with Cypher really difficult bc Cypher is clearly mourning the loss of his wife and child and I can only see him get in a new relationship if he finds peace first. Also I just don’t think Cypher and Chamber have *that* chemistry together. Aside from the fact that I find Cypher hard to ship with anyone, he doesn’t feel like someone who’d go for Chamber of all people. People ship them, imho, just to satisfy the enemies to lovers trope. I love that trope but it just doesn’t work for them. I do feel like they could be good coworkers or friends if it turns out that Chamber is being shady for VP’s benefit and essentially helping them from behind the scenes

hi again! previous anon here, just remembered a question. there's something that's been nagging at me about the show's lan parents storyline — LXC tells WWX that story about his parents and it seems like it's meant as a parallel for LWJ and WWX. But the Lan parents thing sounded like a super toxic/unhealthy relationship? like their mom was literally being kept against her will... maybe i'm just missing the nuance for the parallel? would love to hear your thoughts on this!
(ask con’t, sorry it’s long) i’ve just gotten out of a bad relationship not too long ago and gets really leery of cdramas portraying control as love (ie one love interest preventing the other from leaving, or clear power imbalances as with period dramas). i really don’t think that’s what’s happening here but got kind of uncomfortable too at the “i want to bring someone back to gusu/hide them away” line LWJ had earlier. might you have an alternate interpretation? i’m almost sure i’m misreading!
So a couple things first: thank you so much for asking me this question because my thoughts about the untamed/mdzs have been so much and turbulent that having a specific thing to focus on is really helpful, AND it’s also really flattering that you think I??? would have worthwhile thoughts???? about this really complicated thing.
Second: I want to make sure to say that no matter how strongly I feel about my interpretation, no matter how long I spend composing this response, you are not obligated to change how you feel. If that line still bothers you, it still bothers you. Our experiences are different! And it’s okay! That being said, haha, buckle up I guess, because WOW do I have a lot of things to say.
Spoilers up through episode 43, obviously, with allusions to the novel. I will try to keep any details about things that happen post-43 vague.
Let’s begin with this moment:
“Was he right to do this?” || “I don’t know.”
[id: image 1 is a screenshot of lan xichen asking “was he right to do this” and image 2 is a screenshot of wei wuxian responding “i don’t know” from episode 43 of the untamed /end id]
I think we need to think about how to answer this question before we can answer your question: how can we interpret the relationship between lan wangji and lan xichen’s parents? Was it moral? Was it okay? Was it right? This is clearly a question that lan xichen has been wrestling with his whole life. And from this scene, I think that he’s made his peace with the fact that it’s always going to be a question for him, not because the inherent morality is unclear, but because of the emotional subjectivity he’s always going to hold for it. He doesn’t expect wei wuxian to have an answer because he doesn’t have an answer himself.
Something that I remember from the novel that doesn’t make it into this scene, though, is what wei wuxian says after lan xichen asks, “can you understand why my father acted this way?” and he nods, is the explanation he gives: he hated the person who had murdered his mentor, but he also loved her so much he couldn’t bear to see her destroyed. Unable to live with himself, he married her, swore to protect her, and then imprisoned her for the rest of her life. Tormented by his contradictions, he then locked himself away as well. lan xichen agrees.
lan wangji and lan xichen were raised without their parents—largely, they were raised by their upright uncle, who, due to his brother’s behavior, took up the responsibilities of sect leader and parent at the same time. (It’s really no wonder that lan qiren has such a vicious dislike for wei wuxian: he loves lan wangji so much, and he’s so afraid to watch the child he raised repeat history. Beyond that, I think it’s pretty safe to say that lan qiren probably harbors not insignificant resentment towards his brother for the harm he did to both his children and to lan qiren himself.) Lan qiren is not married and as far as we know, never has any romantic entanglements after he begins raising the lan brothers. So where does that leave lan wangji and lan xichen in terms of models for romance? All they have is the fraught relationship between their parents.
lan wangji is not good with words. He expresses himself primarily through action, which we see time and time again. When lan wangji says to lan xichen, “there’s someone I want to take back to the cloud recesses. take them back and hide them away,” I think he’s trying to explain (with words) his feelings for wei wuxian in the only way he knows how: by making a reference to the only romantic relationship to which he and lan xichen were firsthand witnesses. lan xichen canonically understands wangji better than pretty much everyone: he sees straight through him at Biling lake when he invites wei wuxian and jiang cheng along to hunt the water spirits because he knows lan wangji wants wei wuxian to come. He asks if he wants loquats even when wangji refuses them. So when lan wangji says that, lan xichen first repeats the statement carefully to make sure he understands what’s at stake, and then he says something very crucial: “you only fear that he isn’t willing”.
I think this says a lot— specifically, that both lan xichen and lan wangji understand firsthand the pain their father caused and what exactly was wrong about it. I think what lan wangji is saying between the lines is, “I’m in love with someone. I want to take them home with me. I want to hide them away from the world to protect them. I fear this makes me like our father, whose love led him to do such terrible things to our mother, and by extension, to us and our uncle. I can’t repeat his mistakes.” And lan xichen, understanding all of that, gets to the heart of lan wangji’s inner conflict: wei wuxian is not willing, and lan wangji refuses to follow in his father’s footsteps, no matter how tormented he feels about the person he loves, no matter how much he wants to.
Every time lan wangji tries and fails to get wei wuxian to return with him to gusu, it’s with the intention of trying to help him, trying to protect him from the other sects, trying to pull him back before he does something unforgivable, much like his father’s motivations for bringing his mother back to gusu (“he swore that this was his beloved wife and that anyone who wished to hurt her [for her crimes] would have to go through him”), but unlike his father, lan wangji never forces wei wuxian to do anything. He never keeps him locked up, never forcibly kidnaps him. Not only that, but lan wangji is also willing to fight wei wuxian when he believes that wei wuxian is doing something inadmissible: heis the only one to stand against his initial forays into demonic cultivation, and physically confronts him on the roof at the nightless city. Would he have actually followed through on killing him, had things gone differently? Maybe, maybe not, but at the very least, it shows that he, unlike his father, was willing to try to destroy the person he loved when he crossed the line.
Anon, you’re right that there’s a parallel between the lan parents and wangxian, but I think the key is how they parallel each other. Lan wangji doesn’t repeat his father’s mistakes. When he finally does bring wei wuxian back to gusu and hide him away to protect him, wei wuxian is not there against his will, and, I think also importantly, lan wangji is with him. It’s no accident that lan wangji’s residence is the jingshi, the place his mother was imprisoned for his whole life, and it’s no accident that he brings wei wuxian there. But lan wangji doesn’t lock him there and abandon him like his father did with his mother: he’s there with him the whole time. Lan wangji, when all is said and done, is finally ready to stand by wei wuxian in spite of everything he did, unlike his father, who couldn’t do so with his wife: couldn’t destroy her, couldn’t stand with her. lan wangji makes his choice. “I regretted that I couldn’t stand with you at the nightless city.” The parallel is one that emphasizes contrast in spite of similarity.
All this ties vaguely into bigger themes present within the story, particularly the tensions between freedom/restriction and parents/children. These are like, two whole other essays haha, so I won’t get too deep into the weeds (unless you or anyone else wants to ask me!!! bc, anon, believe me, I would BE WILLING!!!) but:
1. lan wangji and wei wuxian are fundamentally very similar people, even if their personalities are not. They have incredibly strong moral compasses and want nothing more than to be righteous and to live with clear consciences about their choices. The difference is in how they go about that. wei wuxian chafes under rules, breaks them when he finds them unjust or unimportant, and thinks that he doesn’t deserve to be punished. When lan wangji finds that his moral compass conflicts with the rules he chooses to live by, he prioritizes his own sense of justice, much like wei wuxian, but he also accepts the punishments that are given to him without complaint. wei wuxian cherishes freedom over all while lan wangji lives under strict regulation, but the point is that they both take it too far. wei wuxian is righteous to the point of arrogance, flaunts his peers’ judgments and warnings to his eventual downfall. lan wangji, after doing what he thinks is right, allows himself to be punished without protest so severely he’s bedridden and imprisoned for three years. I would say neither of these approaches is… ideal, and I think that’s part of why wangxian feels so profound. They temper each other’s worst weaknesses. (rereading this, i’m not sure i’m 100% behind everything I just said lol, but again, an essay for another time)
2. Like lan wangji is paralleled with his father, wei wuxian is paralleled with his mother, zangse-sanren: free-spirited, mischievous, and ultimately meeting a tragic end for the choices she made out of that desire for freedom. He too is able to eventually escape his mother’s fate, just as lan wangji escapes his father’s. The parallels between parent and child are strong for almost all the mains, though not all of them manage to free themselves and achieve some measure of happiness, and this in itself relates to the even bigger questions of what matters more: your heritage, or your actions? Your heritage, or your upbringing? What can you do to avoid making the same mistakes as your predecessors?
I’ve already talked about this wrt wei wuxian and lan wangji, but the same goes for characters like jiang cheng, jin zixuan, wen qing, wen ning, mianmian, jin guangyao, su she, nie huaisang, jin ling, lan sizhui, ouyang zizhen, xiao xingchen, song lan, xue yang etc. like the list is endless. Part of why mdzs/the untamed is so heartwrenching is watching history repeat itself while the protagonists, who are also acutely aware, are nearly powerless to stop it. The juniors end up being the breaking from all that: willing to defy their parents, make their own decisions about right and wrong, recognize that a person’s actions should speak louder than the rumors that run on their account.
tl;dr: the lan parents’ relationship is toxic and hurtful to everyone around them. wangxian absolutely parallels it, but in a way that highlights how they differ from their predecessors, tying into larger thematic issues of the story.
eek that was almost 2k words yikes!! I hope my enthusiastic rambling helped you see that “take them back, hide them away” line in a different light haha, but I want to say again: you’re not obligated to take my interpretation as fact, and you also don’t have to think everything about wangxian is perfect to still like it. We all consume and like imperfect stories! I totally get your feelings on weird power dynamics/inequalities in relationships because… it’s abusive? it’s terrible? It hurts to see?? esp given what you said about your own experience, like yeah, for sure!!! but for me? when lan wangji says, “I want to take someone back to the cloud recesses—take them back, hide them away”, it reads as a really powerful, self-aware expression of what it means for someone like him to fall in love.
EDIT 16 APR 2020: I find myself only agreeing with ~85% of this after many months of reflection. /o\ *hides face* leaving it as-is because it’s what I wrote at the time, but! you know. I have changed some of my views.

Any headcanons for Oliver? I read the list of headcanons for some of the other provinces that you did and I’m very curious.
oh boy those were ages ago i’ll dig up a few so i can remember the vibe of the things i wrote
for those of you just joining us, my past headcanon posts
BC | AB | SK | MB 1 + 2 | NB
while other provinces are torn between living in one city or another or out in the middle of nowhere, oliver doesn’t have that issue. he lives in toronto and holidays in one of an entire network of cottages across the province and does not feel conflicted about that in the least. and he doesnt live “in toronto” in the gta, he lives IN toronto in some old annex style house and good luck getting rid of him.
he LOVES living alone, he relishes his independence, he does NOT miss being trapped living with jean NOT ONE BIT!! he does NOT create fake arguments over what should go over the mantle or what to make for dinner with the chattery squirrel outside because he’s LONELY.
Self indulgent headcanon but since he understands how difficult it is to live in the city and how valuable a good education is, he will occasionally rent out the basement to a quiet and tidy university student or two. He has a soft spot for kids who are trying to find their feet and figure out who they are away from their parents (as long as they do their chores).
Despite his downtown living and his urban elite image, he has experience working in factories and on farms and that tends to catch people off guard. He knows his way around milking a cow and he loves to tinker with machinery, getting his hands dirty doesn’t bother him even though he does love to mope and solicit pity.
he just cannot physically help being overdramatic and bitchy, it’s just the tough outer layer he developed trying to survive american assimilation (and jean’s cutting words lol). he thinks his sarcasm is among his most endearing quality, since the people who Get It always laugh.
OF COURSE THERE ARE GRADES OF MAPLE SYRUP ??? why Wouldnt there be
he thinks his most relatable story is tfw you cut the bag of milk too open and it sloshes everywhere and doesn’t get the mixed reception at parties
It’s not that he doesn’t drink or that he’s against drinking, per se, at least, not anymore. He just likes being the designated driver because he likes the moral high ground, not because he’s secretly a mother hen who wants everyone to get home safe.
he grew up in the southern... peninsula (you know that... sorry i get so confused about whats north and west in ontario.)Anyway it’s not that he doesn’t Also represent Northern Ontario, it’s just sometimes hard to pry him out of his original comfort zone and he sometimes gets stuck in his own head in the south.
it’s not like mani would know what to do with all that space up there anyway, it’s just best that he takes care of it, it’s always best that he be left to manage things, he’s just more organized, he’s the brains, he’s the one with the vision, no he does not accept constructive criticism, what kind of leader would he be if he was openly questioned... that’s not how he was raised at all. imagine, entertaining other people’s ideas.
Ollie likes to think he’s the rational one but pretty much every move he made in his early days was out of fear and anxiety; he can sometimes be overly cautious and people who just go out and do things just baffle him.
He’s really open with his feelings (particularly when it involves complaining, which he loves) but he’s horrible at delegating tasks or asking for help. He also gets easily frustrated when people have given up on helping him without him having to ask, but he still insists on trying to do everything himself.
is it weird i cannot fathom him in anything but an mlm relationship lol
He won’t forgive rude behaviour, even if he appears like a doormat to an American. He remembers when he’s been rude to and compensates by being overly polite. The only person who’s immune to this seems to be Jean, who always seems to be getting away with being rude...
that said he drops way more f-bombs than most of the others and americans always either think it’s either adorable (and make fun of his perceived accent) or are SO SHOCKED that their INNOCENT BABY FRIEND would have such LANGUAGE!
has such. a weird. distorted. romantic idea of what road trips are. i dont know if he knows how to travel in places where rest stops arent cleaned every couple hours or if he’s ever had to pee in the bush or stay in a place without electricity in the time that he’s owned a car.
he’s always been a huge natural history nerd, he loves spending time in natural history exhibits and geeking out over weird birds and fish and minerals.
shakespeare in the park anyone?! shakespeare in the living room??? shakespeare over zoom conference? reciting shakespeare while outside oil painting the fall colours?! DID SOMEONE MENTION SHAKESPEARE.
he also loves sailing and swimming and he’s got a weirdly extensive canoe collection squirreled away somewhere.
had a LOT of pressure on him as a kid to be the Good and Perfect child, not like those nasty yankees. He’s not very good at acting out and being rebellious, but he will absolutely stand his ground on an issue that’s dear to him, particularly if his control over something is threatened.
anywhere you can’t take a train to is fake adn should not have been counted
he’s still an avid tea drinker and has lots of opinions about tea time and has been making the same recipes for literally 200 years (jean puts up with this because he cannot be assed to make his own little fine cakes, ok, and if ollie has extra for him to take home its to his advantage. if oliver makes extra specifically because he knows jean likes them, that’s for him to know. and same with homemade fudge and butter tarts and candy and ice cream, neither of them outgrew their sweet tooth)
also he’s somewhat motivated by jean’s blunt reactions to his baking because thats how he’s going to survive the blue ribbon baking and jam making events against those tough and bitter old ladies, jean is perfect practice (although some of his best and most nuanced insults don’t translate very well)
his french is not bad nor is he embarrassed of it, he’s annoying in both official languages.
he gets mad when you say he’s practically interchangeable with matt but he still seems to think the things he does are things that all canadians do or like or have, i mean, why wouldn’t they? but they still owe him for that.
he compensates for his relative lack of interest or seeming inability to ask the others how they’re doing (because thats rude! and prying! and he’s sure they’re just fine! he doesn’t meddle anymore because people get upset when he rearranges their pantries) with an almost weird obsession with his self image and what’s happening internationally
#IM SORRY I TRY TO MAKE THE HEADCANONS NOT ALL SALTY AND BITCHY OLLIE BUT#pc: ontario#pc headcanon#hapo rambles#hapo replies#Anonymous

bubble bubble toil and trouble / i heard rumors that [ lily evans ] is part of [ the order ] ! [ she ] is/are [ a cis woman ] and [ twenty ] ! they are often mistaken for [ ludovica martino ] and known to be [ assertive and overemotional ] ! i wonder if they’ll survive the war.
LINKS: pinboard, stats page CHARACTER PARALLELS: lois lane ( dc ), jane sloan ( the bold type ), katarina stratford ( 10 things i hate about you ), leslie knope ( parks and rec ), donna pinciotti ( that 70s show ), sam ( the perks of being a wallflower ), trish walker ( jessica jones ).
HISTORY
lily is born late january, 1960, as the second child to jonathan and miranda evans, a pair of muggles who have found the perfect balance between standing out and being ordinary. she grows up running after ( and sometimes in front of ) her sister, petunia, her best friend for most of her youth. her father works as a bank teller and – like many – hates his job. her mother is a stay at home mum, who mostly spends her free time tending to the family’s garden — their pride and joy.
lily has many memories of that garden. plucking flowers for her teachers, playing hide and seek, digging through the dirt with her tiny fingers, having barbecue’s and picknicks, laughing at her father’s deep hum of a voice as he complains about customers, crying in her mother’s arms when she scuffed her knees.
so life was ordinary and happy and simple. sure, lily was able to make flowers grow with a touch of her fingers if she concentrated deeply and caused small explosions when she raged ( which was often — lily was an energetic child, but an explosive one, too ). they explained it away with laughter, and kept on living. and then there was severus, whom she met when she was nine, who explained it all.
lily was a witch, and she loved it. she didn’t quite understand it, but she loved it. her parents seemed enthusiastic enough, too, even if they didn’t start believing it until a witch showed up on their doorstep. severus was a new friend, someone who’d help her brave this new world. and petunia … petunia was withering away from her life, slowly taking steps back and back until things seemed beyond repair.
going to hogwarts was confusing, at first. when she stepped on that train, something between her and petunia was changed forever, and lily shed a few tears before she met up with severus. once arrived, she was sorted in gryffindor in a matter of seconds. honestly, i don’t know what to say about hogwarts what wasn’t stated in canon — lily was a great student?? loved learning, had natural skills, was charming, etc. she wasn’t perfect, of course — she was prone to starting debates in class, to going on tangents, cursed quickly and easily and very … creatively
what i’m trying to say is she definitely wasn’t a goody two shoes?? yes, she cared about her education, but no, she was no stickler to the rules. lily was and is a firecracker, someone with fire, and there were plenty of times when she chose to disregard rules, or to go against what was asked for her. not out of spite or just because, always for a good reason, but still. also got into plenty of fights, mostly verbal, mostly with purists, but also with plenty of other people.
lily excelled in charms and potions, specifically. was a big fan of herbology as well, and transfiguration merely bc of mcgonagall.
and then, things seemed to shift. severus called her a mudblood. he was the only person who’d been part of her life before and during hogwarts, and now she couldn’t look at him any more without feeling nauseous. tensions were rising all around her, too. lily started wearing her blood status as a badge of pride even more than before. she became unforgiving and angry and determined to see change. she worked hard in her classes and worked hard on her friendships and tried not to combust with her rage.
and she somehow fell for james potter too, what a fucking tool. both of them. ugh. such a sappy story!!! but yes. they became a thing, and i stan.
lily graduated and had no clue where to go, until it dawned on her — her voice, her anger, her need to find truth: she could use that all. screw having a particularly magical job; lily applied at up and coming news site and magazine lumos and started interning there the summer after graduation. lily as a journalist is very important to me. her whole need for truth is in all honesty the most important thing about her so excuse me as i am about to go on a RANT.
i mean, lily herself is honest. brutally so. she can’t lie, either, and barely ever sees cause to. it’s partly just nature, but also a bit of nurture, i think. her sister, for example, so caught up in her lies and her wish for perfection seems altogether untrue because of it. severus, who hid true thoughts from her. her father, who never told his customers how annoyed he truly was. so many blood purists in the world, keeping their views carefully quiet. this war is based on lies. the world wizards live in is based on lies, and lily hates it. she seeks truth, always has, always will. it’s part curiosity, part anger.
her job as a journalist allows her to seek truth. it also allows her to cover the war, to talk about it, to hold interviews and seek out sources, to think of good questions, to be critical and empathetic and clever. all things lily likes and loves and wants to do.
lily also joined the order. i mean, what other option was there to fight? her family, her friends, she herself — everyone was in danger because of this damn war. there was no bone in her body that thought about sitting still, and when she was approached about the order, she didn’t think twice before saying yes. there is no way that lily ever accept the reality these death eaters want. no way. she’ll die before she sees that happen.
where her and james are at is still something i’m discussing with liz, but they’re def happily in love! lily is about to get pregnant too and she’s going to freak
CURRENTLY & PERSONALITY
okay so i know i’ve mentioned lily’s anger a lot, and i think that’s an important thing to talk about? lily is a very feeling person. she’s compassionate and kind and empathetic. she cares about others, and does so easily. she does so deeply. and she feels deeply too, always has. she cries easily, laughs easily, rages easily. combine those two things and the fact that there’s a war going on that’s fueled by such sickening bigotry … well, of course she’s fucking angry. her anger comes from her kindness, it comes from her compassion and her warmth. her motivation isn’t her anger, per se — it’s her wish to see the world different, to see it be good, but her anger is a huge drive.
lily loves muggle shit so much. she came into the lumos office and dropped a whole lot of muggle office supplies on her desk and said: “if i cant work on paper then im walking” and they were like … dude its ok lol wtf. she’s kind of very extra abt it but in this current economy she’s so set on being PROUD of being a muggleborn and she just loves muggle stuff too — i mean, wizarding fashion is Nothing compared to mom jeans and plaid shirts??? she loves muggle music too, especially indiepop and classic rock and just everything by Cool Ladies.
was raised catholic and still practices it but in a v liberal and modern way because she has seen a lot that with the more traditional views. so yeah, her thoughts on religion and especially the way it’s practised have shifted a lot. she still prays, goes to church every now and then ( but definitely not ever sunday ) and sticks with it, even if it’s hard to cling to faith when the world looks the way it does.
cannot cook to save her life, help her
a big fan of white wine and rose, lolol. will also drink loads of beer if the occasion calls for it. a fun drunk, but also a mama bird when drunk, holding back your hair and drying your tears.
honestly lily is slightly dramatic, full of rage and a downright good person. such a good friend, holy shit. so blunt. so extra. so loving. dances and fights through life. laughs wildly and loudly. gives great hugs. supports blanket forts, always. loves loves loves.

the treatment of bilhah and zilpah sucks in Judaism as well as Christianity, though its worth noting that Jewish tradition understands bilhah and zilpah as actual wives of Jacob (historical rabbis being very invested in arguing that no tribe of Judaism was above any other). I’m learning that feminist Jewish scholars have been struggling for decades to encourage congregations to recognize bilhah and zilpah as foremothers, because they were mothers to like... four of the twelve tribes.
Possibly (in terms of history) bilhah and zilpah were incorporated into the story to explain how the tribe of Gad et al became part of the Israelite confederation , as old Moabite stones sometimes distinguish between the tribe of Gad and the Israelites and they may have become part of the people later. But when one approaches the text as a story about people rather than populations, one can reckon with it as a patriarchal myth or one can project into the characters and try to interpret their motives.
Part of what is interesting about the four wives of Jacob is that the historical tradition that makes all four into wives also creates an equivalence between the experiences of wives and slaves, one which was pretty obvious I think to ancient people and is obvious to many feminist readers today. The position of Leah and Rachel is equivalent to enslavement bc their dad literally sold them in exchange for labor from Jacob. It is also notable that early rabbinical commentaries decided that bilhah and zilpah were in fact also daughters of Laban and were half sisters or sisters of Rachel and Leah, though this isn’t commonly recognized in modernity. Additionally, the story that comes immediately after this narrative presents the stories of Joseph (sold into slavery by his own family and sexually harassed by his master’s wife) and Tamar (the wife of Judah’s sons who tries to have Judah’s child after they die so she can avoid the status of a childless widow). The way those next stories are presented side by side also presents a parallel between slavery and being a bride.
As a result the baby craziness of the Bible in that part reads to me as each sister struggling to establish a protected place in this new family in order to survive and ensure their future in a strange land far away from their family—which to me doesn’t sound like a great loving thing and they never talk about Rachel loving Jacob only Jacob loving Rachel.
So I appreciated john darnielles reading of the primary relationship between people in Genesis 30:3 as being about the relationship between Rachel and Bilhah.Because there’s no indication the women had any agency in choosing their husband unlike Rebecca had with choosing Isaac —they might have not loved Jacob and I would feel more conflicted if the song was about Rachel and Jacob. But in reading it as being about these two women who both want a child and about Rachel regarding Bilhah’s kids as her own kids in a parental way like, Really is powerful to me. One can definitely look at this story and say that it is patriarchal and it is but if one is going to try to read into it and read personalities and love and emotion into the women of the Bible alternate readings like this that don’t validate any of the actions of the men and which look for another way to make sense of the text are deeply moving.
Similarly there are women rabbis who argue that eve should be seen as the first rabbi and use the existing text to support that —the idea that seeking to know god carries with it the risk of driving oneself farther away from god but you still have to try and that eves questions and search for knowledge are what prompted the start of a human striving to be better and to create a better world . The text has a history that is misogynistic but if one regards it as a body that one can read into and extrapolate on it becomes more of a living thing and a useful thing.
I like johns reading of th bible because he doesn’t always agree with the text but he accepts the situations and imagines alternate viewpoints . Like the crystal healer song —he is responding to the prophet Samuel as if he is the idolatrous healer defending his practices. I think John’s humanism really is a useful way to approach these texts where people who are theoretically favored by the lord do bad things and people who are outcasts or damned don’t always seem to be particularly bad.

Tahla Nhavan - Character Questions
Decided to fill out some character questions in between some other stuff bc why not
1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?
Like most traditional Keeper males, Tahla’s father preferred a life of wandering in solitude. Her memories of him stem from the occasional visits he made to the clan during her early childhood years. As his appearances abruptly stopped by the time she was old enough to form a true opinion of him (whether this was of his own choice or because of some terrible fate befalling him, no one was sure), Tahla only remembers him as strong and stoically silent, though surprisingly tender when alone with her mother.
2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?
When she was very small, they got along quite well. As Tahla got older, however, she began to take after her aunt and as a result her relationship with her mother got somewhat argumentative. Jinta could sometimes have lofty ideas about right and wrong, and she generally had a strong dislike of confrontation, things that a young and rebellious Tahla had little patience for. Despite this, her mother did still manage to instill some thoughtfulness into her, easily curbing the ruthless side of her that her aunt was cultivating.
3. Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings?
She has three older sisters and one older brother, and she generally got along fine with each of them. Her brother Jinta’a however was easily the closest of them, and he tended to be her go-to support when she was in need of comfort. Her sisters were much older and she never developed a super close bond with them.
4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?
Mostly lenient, though as she got older her mother tried to treat her more strictly. This only caused the rift between them to grow more, however.
5. Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?
Her mother was a tad overprotective of her when she was small, but life as a poacher meant she was hardly sheltered for long. Each member of the clan was expected to pull their weight, and young Tahla was incredibly eager to join in the hunts.
6. Did they feel rejection or affection as a child?
An abundance of affection. Being the youngest child in her small clan, she was basically treated like a little princess to be spoiled and doted upon endlessly.
7. What was the economic status of their family?
They got by well enough, though coin was never much of a motivating factor for them. They preferred a nomadic life of hunting (and poaching) and used those skills to sustain themselves and barter for any other necessities. Anything beyond that was a bit too lavish, in their eyes.
8. How does your character feel about religion?
Believes in the Twelve, and is a particularly devout follower of Menphina and Oschon. She’s quite private about this side of herself and will usually seek out solitude when offering prayers.
9. What about political beliefs?
Politics is an odd subject to her; generally too much dancing around words and red tape for her liking. Growing up outside the realm of the city-states, she’s always seen politics as something that doesn’t involve her and so she’ll tend to ignore it. The one exception is her strong dislike of Gridanian politics, mostly when it comes to their reverence of the Elementals.
10. Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted?
Street-smart, if anything. She lacks a proper education and a more formal learning environment has always bored her, so academics are certainly her weakness. She prefers skills that are immediately applicable to her day-to day life, so book-smarts always seemed particularly useless to her.
11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?
Uneducated, and she’d argue with any who used that as an excuse to call her unintelligent. Despite that, she can on occasion get rather self-conscious about that fact when spending time with some of her more learned peers. She’s mostly illiterate, which is the one facet of her limited education that she is deeply embarrassed about. She tries her best to hide that from those she knows.
12. How does their education and intelligence – or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations?
With her more recent years spent doing work for the adventurer’s guilds across the city states, Tahla tends to speak a bit more like one from the city, but the backbone of her speech patterns still tilt more towards rural Shroud speech. Her illiteracy results in a somewhat narrow spread in her vocabulary, which is a fault she’s been trying to work on. Trying, being the key word.
16. What does your character do for a living? How do they see their profession? What do they like about it? Dislike?
In the past she was a hunter/poacher in the Shroud. She romanticized and loved every moment of it, despite the occasional spats with the local Wood Wailers. She misses it dearly, but is conflicted about returning to a life of hunting in the Shroud without her family. Presently, she spends her days as an Adventurer, taking on whatever odd jobs come her way, though she tends to gravitate toward those that might make use of her skills in hunting, tracking, or stealth.
17. Did they travel? Where? Why? When?
During the youth she traveled throughout the Black Shroud, primarily sticking to the north and western regions, with occasional visits to Gridania. After the calamity, she spend a little less than a year amongst the other orphans in Gridania before being taken in by a family friend in Ul’dah. Beyond that, her new occupation as an adventurer took her throughout Eorzea.
18. What did they find abroad, and what did they remember?
On the practical side of things: learned of adventuring and how to put her natural stealth and tracking abilities to other uses while in Ul’dah, and learned how to refine her admittedly rough fighting skills from some unsavory types in Limsa. More broadly, she learned that the world was a much bigger and *much* more varied place than her life in the Shroud had led her to believe.
19. What were your character’s deepest disillusions? In life? What are they now?
Her trust in the kindness of strangers was essentially shattered when it was revealed that the above mentioned family friend from Ul’dah had taken her in primarily to use her as leverage against her aunt, who owed him money. However, when all his efforts in tracking the woman down came to naught, he instead settled for having Tahla work off the debt in her stead.
20. What were the most deeply impressive political or social, national or international, events that they experienced?
The c a l a m i t y. That basically turned her world upside down after she was separated from the few members of her family who survived the incident. Also, if we’re talking about WoL-Tahla, the Bloody Banquet and betrayal of the Crystal Braves and everything that followed, basically. It’s a big reminder of why she hates politics and hates being involved in other people’s fights. She gets treated more and more like a tool and despises it.
21. What are your character’s manners like? What is their type of hero? Whom do they hate?
Manners are… somewhat lacking. She’ll climb on furniture, put her feet up on tables when lounging around, unabashedly look through other peoples things when she thinks they aren’t looking. She’s a very hands-on sort of person and will get in people’s personal space without a second thought. Despite that, it’s rare that she’s intentionally rude, and she does try to be kind to those she meets, if only reservedly so at first. As for heroes, there is no one Tahla idolizes more than her aunt Rekha—a very outgoing, brash, and unapologetic hunter. She would not take insult or injury (to either herself or her family) lying down and was incredibly ruthless to anyone deemed her enemy. Tahla takes a lot after her, though thanks to the guidance of her mother and brother, she’s stepped back from some of her aunt’s more bloodthirsty qualities. Her hatred is reserved mostly for the Elementals, the Wood Wailers, basically anyone who might get on her case about poaching—Tahla is quite sanctimonious about Miqo’te hunters being part of the natural order and their right “to hunt anywhere they damn well please.”
22. Who are their friends? Lovers? ‘Type’ or ‘ideal’ partner?
While she gravitates toward the rowdier sort of people most of the time, she’s come to deeply appreciate the way the calm and quiet sort of friends can mellow her out, especially when she’s having a rough time sorting through some her darker feelings. She’s very touchy-feely with her friends, and will quite often run up to greet them with an unprompted hug. As for lovers… she has eyes only for women and tends to gravitate toward other Miqo’te most of the time, but she doesn’t have a particular type. She assumes that sort of relationship should develop naturally and simply keeps an open mind for it.
23. What do they want from a partner? What do they think and feel of sex?
Someone who can bring balance and stability to her life, someone fun to be around. See the above, I guess? Sex is good, she’s a little more casual about it than she’d readily admit.
24. What social groups and activities does your character attend? What role do they like to play? What role do they actually play, usually?
#justadventurerthings with her buds in both FCs. And I know this questionnaire wasn’t intended for video game characters, but we’re gonna take that last one a bit literally here: when doing Dangerous Adventurer Things, she’s good and being sneaky and dealing damage.
25. What are their hobbies and interests?
Tahla has a (somewhat) secret passion for fashion. Had her life gone a bit differently post-calamity, she probably would have liked to design and create clothing.
26. What does your character’s home look like? Personal taste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance?
Home is simply furnished and decorated with as many plants as she can reasonably care for. Give her a place to sleep and a cozy fire and she’s set. Her apartment is a bit messy, with books tossed about haphazardly—she impulsively bought a ton of books with the idea of brute-forcing her way into learning how to read. It’s going about as well as you’d imagine, and her frustration is evident in the scattered tomes. She prefers loose clothing that’s easy to move around in to fit her active lifestyle. Often wears a scarf or bandana over the lower half of her face—a holdover from her time in the Shroud. She kept her hair longer when she was younger, but prefers shorter styles these days. Pale-skinned with even paler freckles dusting her cheeks. Mismatched eyes—one deep blue, the other gold. A few scars here and there, most notable among them the one below her left eye and one on her right thigh.
27. How do they relate to their appearance? How do they wear their clothing? Style? Quality?
She’s a bit meticulous about her appearance. Tries to keep her clothing in working order for as long as possible.
28. Who is your character’s mate? How do they relate to him or her? How did they make their choice?
N/a, though she did have 1 somewhat lengthy and serious relationship during her time in Ul’dah. They were very close, had a lot of secrets, but eventually realized they wanted different things in life and mutually broke it off.
29. What is your character’s weaknesses? Hubris? Pride? Controlling?
She’s incredibly proud of her skills and her heritage, both of which have gotten her in trouble depending on present company.
30. Are they holding on to something in the past? Can he or she forgive?
She gets real fucked up when she thinks about the calamity (she basically goes MIA during The Rising), refusing to fully accept the impact it had on her life, and as a result she can’t move on to a more steady and permanent lifestyle. Holds past encounters against the Wood Wailers as a whole and absolutely refuses to forgive the lot of them.
31. Does your character have children? How do they feel about their parental role? About the children? How do the children relate?
No children, though she wouldn’t mind having some one day.
32. How does your character react to stress situations? Defensively? Aggressively? Evasively?
A mix of defensive and aggressive, though she’s been trending toward the latter in recent days.
33. Do they drink? Take drugs? What about their health?
Will drink occasionally, nothing much beyond that. In good health.
35. Do they always rationalize errors? How do they accept disasters and failures?
It takes her a while to come to terms with failures. She usually bottles up negative feelings about these sort of things until it hits the point where she has to face them.
36. Do they like to suffer? Like to see other people suffering?
Does not like suffering, nor the suffering of others… however she has been getting a lot more ruthless in dealing with her enemies. She’s quick to blame it on piling stresses. It’s something that she’s acutely becoming aware of, and its starting to frighten her.
37. How is your character’s imagination? Daydreaming a lot? Worried most of the time? Living in memories?
She’s not super imaginative, and tends to compartmentalize most of her worries. She does spend a lot of time longing for the good ol days of her youth.
38. Are they basically negative when facing new things? Suspicious? Hostile? Scared? Enthusiastic?
Suspicious, the level of which depends on how much other people are involved with the new thing. Will trend toward more enthusiastic if there is some level of familiarity to it.
39. What do they like to ridicule? What do they find stupid?
“Fuck the Elementals.” —Tahla Nhavan, 2kforever
40. How is their sense of humor? Do they have one?
She enjoys the odd practical joke here and there, but otherwise is sort of blunt with her humor.
41. Is your character aware of who they are? Strengths? Weaknesses? Idiosyncrasies? Capable of self-irony?
She’s aware of her strengths and weaknesses, though the latter is something she’ll rarely admit to. Not really contemplative enough for self-irony.
42. What does your character want most? What do they need really badly, compulsively? What are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?
She just wants a simple life. Sometimes she has the lofty idea of Doing The Right Thing, but her idea of right and wrong, as well as her methods to go about doing it, wouldn’t necessarily be agreed upon by others.
43. Does your character have any secrets? If so, are they holding them back?
Her illiteracy, for one. She’s too stubborn about it to actually ask someone for help, but she’s learned to work around it. On a much more serious note, one thing she hasn’t told a soul about is that she has an EXTREME fear of suffocating/choking due to an Incident when she was around 11.
44. How badly do they want to obtain their life objectives? How do they pursue them?
Her only real goal is the nebulous idea of returning to a simple life of hunting, but since that requires moving on and learning to let people get close to her again, she basically doesn’t pursue it at all.
45. Is your character pragmatic? Think first? Responsible? All action? A visionary? Passionate? Quixotic?
Pragmatic, though can be somewhat impulsive depending on the situation. Tries to think things out when she can, but seldom has the patience for it when she’s in the thick of things.
46. Is your character tall? Short? What about size? Weight? Posture? How do they feel about their physical body?
Rather short, wiry build, decent posture. She’s fine with her body.
47. Do they want to project an image of a younger, older, more important person? Does they want to be visible or invisible?
She’s fine with her appearance as is, though she does kind of prefer to fade into the background unless she’s around familiar folks.
48. How are your character’s gestures? Vigorous? Weak? Controlled? Compulsive? Energetic? Sluggish?
Lively and energetic most of the time, more subdued and controlled when she’s focused on a task.
49. What about voice? Pitch? Strength? Tempo and rhythm of speech? Pronunciation? Accent?
TBH I mostly just imagine her in-game voice. Moderate tempo, somewhat soft spoken. If anything, her pronunciation/accent might peg her as someone from the rural Shroud, to discerning ears.
50. What are the prevailing facial expressions? Sour? Cheerful? Dominating?
Neutral, bordering cheerful, perhaps? Can look sort of… intense when she’s focused. Generally she prefers a mask because she doesn’t like it when others can read her easily.
#you can tell i started to lose steam at a certain point lol#and i removed a few questions that didn't apply to this sort of setting#ffxiv tag#tahla nhavan#tahla words

JUST IMAGINE MADARA'S TEENAGE DAUGHTER HAVING A CRUSH ON KAGAMI, since he's a really talented uchiha he should be okay with it, but then mads remembers that TOBIRAMA IS HIS MENTOR, AND THERE IT COMES A DISPUT ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF KAGAMI MARRIES HER, AND THIS POOR CINNAMON ROLL JUST DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING, SAVE THIS CHILD PLEASE
Ok- I’ve been lowkey imagining this, because at first I didn’t know how I felt about it bc I’m kinda protective over lil snowflake Kagami, and I still don’t know how I feel about it, but it’d be pretty funny to watch- I’m all about riling up the Founders, man.
Madara Daughter HC’s found here
Also, whenever I write Kagami- I have to be listening the really indie music- i don’t know why but I have to be listening to Indie in order to write him?? Idk now I wanna write like a high Kagami who’s kinda hipster but not really idk=odfjga;djh
Honestly, they probably met during a mission despite the fact that they are within the same clan; I’m sure that they knew of each other, but before they were actually forced to be together, there was probably little interaction.
For some reason, I see Madara’s daughter not really having an eye for Uchiha men, much to her father’s dismay, and also she very much puts up that front that not many men would have to courage to deal with, so her romantic interactions with Uchiha men are pretty limited.
Then we have Kagami, and with him being a key member of Team Tobirama, I could easily see there is almost this invisible barrier set up between him and Mads’ daughter beforehand, just because Madara doesn’t want Tobirama getting anywhere near her, and even though Kagami would never betray his clan, he’s still a main pupil of one of the shinobi that made life for the Uchiha within Konoha extremely difficult.
Anyway, they get placed on a team together for some high ranking mission, and that’s where most of the initial interaction happens. They have a rough idea of what each other is like, but nothing of real substance, but nonetheless, they are on a team now, and this is a mission where if they fail, they it most definitely means their death sentence.
Best believe that Madara called Kagami in the night beforehand, knowing that his child was going to be Kagami’s teammate and that Kagami is a very skilled shinobi, and said something along the lines of “You have a duty as a member of the Uchiha clan; remember that when you are out in the field.” Mainly told him this, because he wants someone there to back his child up if something happens on the mission, but also just because of his distrust in Tobirama, so Madara has almost always had faith in Kagami.
As the mission goes on, Mads’ daughter honestly becomes more and more interested with Kagami just as a person, because truth be told, she honestly wasn’t expecting him to be as skilled as he proves himself to be during their time together. She had a lot of doubts in him to begin with, because he comes off very heartfelt and snowflake-like, which is a sharp contrast with all the strong people that she has grow up with. Kagami is most certainly not the type of Uchiha she’s used to, and so she almost dismissed him at first, but dear lord she was wrong.
Kagami is a very capable- very lethal ninja. You don’t become Tobirama’s pupil without having some degree of lethality, and the second that she sees this is also maintained while being a very loyal and balance character is where she begins being drawn in.
There’s something about the irony of Kagami’s character that catches her up; and bless her heart she’s never been so blindsided by someone before. She’s so used to people having this strange front with her, because she is the daughter of the Uchiha clan head, and she, herself is certainly a force to be reckoned with, but Kagami doesn’t have this front. He treats her like an actual person and is fully able to combat her if need be, and that right there is what causes her to begin to have feelings for him.
And at first, Madara doesn’t particularly care- Kagami is certainly better than some of the other men his child’s brought home. Kagami is within the clan and has proven himself to both the village and the clan many times; and on top of that, Kagami is a very transparent person who is very upfront with his intentions and seeks a future of balance and prosperity between the Uchiha and Konoha, so Madara is actually quite pleased about her decision-
BUT THEN HE REALIZED THAT KAGAMI IS TOBIRAMA’S LIL BRAT AND NEEDED A MINUTE TO RECONSIDER HIS APPROVAL ON THIS RELATIONSHIP. BC KAGAMI IS ONE OF TOBIRAMA’S RIGHT HAND MEN, AND BUT ALSO DATING HIS DAUGHTER AND IT’S SUCH A STRANGE THING BECAUSE IF THEY STAY TOGETHER THAT MEANS TOBIRAMA MAY DEAL WITH HER AND THAT’S NOT OKAY.
There’s so many sly questions and comments to both Kagami and Mads’ daughter about their relationship from both Madara and Tobirama, because neither man can understand it. They didn’t think that those two would ever get together and now they’re engaged and what? Mads daughter just rolls her eyes at all of her father’s warnings about Kagami being so close to Tobirama. Kagami is so oblivious to some of the ulterior motive questions that Tobirama asks him,
“Of all women you had to chose, why did you chose Madara’s daughter?”
“Because I love her…??”
Kagami’s too pure for this world.
Yet as Madara thinks more about it, Kagami is in a very interesting position with an even more interesting disposition behind it all, and it helps him comes to grips with it all. Getting past that initial, “Oh, he’s Tobirama’s student,” hurdle, Madara realizes that Kagami could be a key component in balancing and bringing peace to the relationship between the Uchiha and Senju and Konoha, which is something that he, himself, was unable to do. Kagami has the heart and the capability to do so, and if there was anything he wanted for the future of the Uchiha, it would be Kagami’s image of their future.
Plus, he’s never seen his daughter so happy and treated so well before, so if there’s anyone he’d want her to end up with, it’d be Kagami.
Bonus: lol there was a clan meeting one night, but the night before Madara’s daughter didn’t come home until after 4am, because she had been out with Kagami. Anyway, entire meeting there was this tension, because Madara’s staring daggers at Kagami, because Madara’s not stupid. He knows why his daughter was gone until 4, and how dare you Kagami?
#Kagami#kagami uchiha#madara#now i wanna write kagami#modren kagami#my child#too pure#should have saved him

I know I’m not gonna get any asks for this and I’m bored, so I’m gonna fill this out for my OC Bennett bc I do what I want
Originally from this post.
1. What do they smell like? I imagine him having a woodsy sort of smell, like pine and fresh rain and wildflowers. A very fresh scent.
2. What is their voice like? Smooth and sweet; it’s on the higher side for someone his age, but not outrageously high either.
3. What is their biggest motivator? Does his stubbornness count as a motivator? He likes to prove people wrong, so if they say he can’t do something, you bet your ass he’s going to do it.
4. What is their most embarrassing memory? When he was young, he fell asleep in class and woke up to several insults written on his arms and face in marker. He tried to play it off, but by the time he made it home, he was in tears because he’d been so embarrassed.
5. How do they deal with/react to pain? He has a very low pain tolerance, and usually doesn’t deal very well.
6. What do they like to wear? Simple, comfortable clothes. Usually jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt, or a tank top if the weather’s warm enough. Wardrobe consists of blacks and pastel colors.
7. Which of their relationships have impacted them most positively? Definitely his relationship with Seth ( @xblackblossomsx )
8. What’s the weirdest thing they’ve ever eaten? Eel. It’s ruined any other seafood for him.
9. Describe the way that they sleep. Restlessly, constantly tossing and turning when alone due to childhood trauma. More often than not, he hardly sleeps. However, he sleeps much better when with someone/being held. It’s comforting.
10. What is their favorite food/kind of food? He loves sweets.
11. What do they feel most insecure about? Mostly his personality, as well as his ‘cute’ appearance. He thinks it makes him look weak.
12. How do they like to dress? Very casual; hardly ever dresses up.
13. How do they react to feelings of guilt? He often pushes those who’re close to him away and tries to isolate himself when he feels guilty; that’s when he needs his loved ones most. If not to talk sense into him, then to comfort him.
14. How do they react to/deal with betrayal? He doesn’t take kindly to it. At first, if he’s close with the person, he’ll be in shock, and be a little hurt that they played him so easily. Then the need for revenge kicks in, and he stops at nothing to get it.
15. What is their greatest achievement? Probably surviving for as long as he has on his own.
16. What are they like when they’ve gotten too little sleep? Very grumpy and moody. Easy to snap, emotional.
17. What are they like when they’re drunk? Depending on how much he’s had to drink, he can either be highly flirtatious, or rambunctious and ready to take on the really buff guy who could more than likely snap him like a twig.
18. What kind of music do they enjoy? Upbeat and fast-paced, mostly, although he does enjoy acoustic. Style doesn’t matter to him all that much.
19. Are they right or left handed? Right handed.
20. Fears? Losing those who are close to him, abandonment, complete isolation.
21. Favorite kind of weather? Sunny and warm, though not too warm; the type of day where you could wear a jacket and not get too hot or take it off and not be too cold. Not humid nor dry, the ‘perfect weather’.
22. Favorite color? Varies between greens and reds.
23. Do they collect anything? He used to collect little paper stars when he was little; his mother would make them for him.
24. Do they prefer either hot or cold weather more? If it came to outrageously hot or cold, definitely cold.
25. What is their eye color? Green, like the green of leaves right before they start to turn. Not neon, but not dull either.
