For my moots & followers who have seen all the Kendrick/Drake stuff and now want to get into rap/hip hop- I have some recs!

From Kendrick: Good Kid M.A.D.D. City was my introduction to K Dot & was one of the first vinyls I ever bought. It is phenomenal. I also highly recommend the rest of his discography. Mr. Morale specifically has been referenced quite a bit in the last few days.

Paris Texas! Their album MID AIR is one of my favorites of all time & their earlier stuff is great as well.

clipping. makes really interesting horror rap with a message. Splendor & Misery is one of my favorite albums from them, the sci-fi story telling is phenomenal.

Vince Staples' Summertime '06 is another one of my favorites of all time. His other work is great as well, especially Big Fish Theory.

Backxwash has got to be one of my favorite rappers. Her albums are deep and phenomenally made. I LIE HERE BURIED WITH MY RINGS AND MY DRESSES was my introduction to her and remains one of my favorite albums of all time (especially her collabs with Ada Rook).

I'm sure most people know Childish Gambino but I'll mention him just in case. Zealots of Stockholm from Because the Internet changed my ideas and expectations about music for good.

Run the Jewels!!! One of my faves & a great duo to see live. RTJ 2 was my introduction to them & remains a favorite. Check out Meow the Jewels as well, it's great.

Kent Osborne- his tracks go especially hard. If you like the combo of electric guitar & rap that Paris Texas does, definitely check out Kent's stuff.

This is getting long so here's a little list to give you some more to check out- Changeline (phenomenal skill), Black Dresses (WASTEISOLATION is in top 5 albums of all time for me), Tobe Nwigwe (Round Here is a fave), Injury Reserve, Megan Thee Stallion (Hiss really kicked off this current situation, go listen to it right now), ALT BLK ERA (obsessed with Obsession), Rico Nasty, and Flyana Boss!

I know my experience is not universal, but I biked 5+ miles to do my errands today and I genuinely think we'd be much happier as a human collective if we increased residential density and switched to largely alternative modes of transportation.

the VAST MAJORITY of teenage girls are actually very nice and doing their best and even when they ARE mean, it's typically because of the stress of going through an incredibly transformational developmental period while having 6833487 responsibilities and no basic human rights. like now that i'm nearing 30 i have a great deal more love and understanding about this than i did as a kid, you will Never catch me dragging/demonizing teen girls for buying into harmful tiktok and instagram trends or whatever. They Are Doing Their Best .

with that said.

it WAS pretty funny going thru adolescence in the late aughts / early 10s when the most mainstream teen music was demi lovato's "who says i can't wear my converse with my dress" stuff.

because EVERY girl who was ever mean to me LOVED that "i'm a brave trendsetting individual who can Be Myself even if other people Don't Understand Me" pop music....

....while also being like "oh, that girl is CREEPY. don't you know she listens to METAL. and is UGLY. and doesn't TRY TO LOOK PRETTY. and is WEIRD. and UGLY. and SHE LISTENS TO METAL...."

My travel partner came yesterday! I brought him so I have a plush that I could take around with me for a few reasons. Those being... it is a small plush I can put in my bag for going to work or anywhere else I'm helping out at, I can practice my photography skills with him, I like to get something for my interests/ fixations, TO NORMALIZE PLUSHIES IN PUBLIC cause if someone else sees a person carrying a plushie around then it will hopefully make people more comfortable to do it too and see that it isn't bad or something to be ashamed about, and to help me with my confidence in being myself and see that no one really truly cares what you do.

Toshiro is kind of an asshole, but it's hard to call him that because what makes him an asshole is being so painfully conflict averse that it causes problems. We ALL know someone like that! The person who simmers on something that made them upset 4 months ago because they don't know how to air grievances. The person who makes up ultimatums in their head without telling anyone. Shuro would think it's too aggressive to block someone on Facebook. He'd get bullied out of line at the grocery store. He'd double book himself on his birthday because he doesn't know how to tell people no. Shuro is so averse to initiating any form of conflict at all that he'd inadvertently cause a fight on a road trip by being too nervous to just pick a fast food joint to piss in

“y/n where’s your jacket?? it’s chilly outside!” hanni questioned you sternly. you were in a rush this morning since you were up all night study and forgot to set your alarm.

“i forgot it on my way out this morning, i should be fine!” she looked at you unamused “i’ve told you about rushing to do this girl!! now look at you, no sweater, no jacket, just your bland uniform.” you knew she would nag you about this like she has always done but she was right, you needed to be more responsible with things. especially if you didn’t want to keep hearing her mouth.

“i’ll be fine seriously, i live close by anyways!” she rolled her eyes and began to pack her stuff. “whatever, just please get home quickly and safely” you smiled at her softly and nodded while you finished packing up and made your way out the class, “and text me when you get home!!! love you y/n!!!” “i will, love you too hanni!!!”

after preparing yourself for a good 3 minutes, you finally stepped out into the cold, gloomy weather that was outside. you were really regretting rushing earlier but it’s to late for that now. as you were shivering at the crosswalk waiting for the light to turn green, you suddenly felt a sense of warmth covering your upper body.

you looked up only to be met with a familiar handsome face. “it is to cold to not have a sweater on” the familiar boy scolded you jokingly. you covered up more and gave him a warm smile. “i know, i was just rushing this morning. thank you..?” “jay. nice to meet you.” you repeated the same thing back before turning back to see if the light had switched yet.

as soon as it did you started to take off his sweater when he stopped you. “keep it, i don’t want you to get sick. plus i have many more at home” “thank you so much. ill pay you back!!!” you shouted before running off in the direction of your home. who would’ve thought that you out of all people would’ve had such an interaction with a insanely handsome boy? you were definitely going to talk hanni’s ear off for as long as possible.
