Ready For Forever ~ Park Jaehyung

The smiles of the members all grew as Jae watched you closely as you left the studio. As soon as the door closed behind you, his smile dropped as he looked around at the rest of the boys.

“You’re obsessed with her,” Wonpil laughed, staring across at Jae. “Every little thing she does has your attention these days, you can’t get enough of her.”

The members had always joked with Jae that the love he felt for you was the honeymoon phase of your relationship, but after three years, that phase never went away. He was still completely in love with you and falling more for you every single day.

Whilst he too had expected the two of you to settle after some time, it never seemed to come about. There was always a spark between the two of you, always something new you learnt about each other or something exciting that you wanted to try out.

“She just makes my heart happy,” Jae admitted, ignoring the groans of the boys that were sat around him, “I don’t’ think there’s anyone else in the world as special as Y/N for me.”

Although the boys loved to tease, the fondness of which he spoke about you made them all incredibly happy too. All they’d ever wanted was for him to be happy, and nothing made him happier than time that he got to share with you.

It was obvious to everyone that the two of you were meant to be, nobody could imagine one of you being without the other.

“You’ve been together for a while now,” Younghyun reminded him, “surely you’ve got to be thinking about the future too, do you plan on making things official with Y/N one day.”

“I’ve been thinking about the future quite a lot recently,” Jae replied, taking the four of them by surprise, “I’ve just been trying to find the right time to talk about it.”

Several thoughts were closed off in his mind as he tried to figure out everything that he wanted, with only one constant being there. You.

“I think I’m ready to start thinking about marrying Y/N,” he then confessed, unable to stop his smile from turning upwards, “making things official.”

“About time,” Dowoon jokingly called out, throwing his head back in relief. The other boys all nodded in agreement with him whilst Jae looked suspiciously across the room. “I was going to propose to Y/N if you didn’t hurry up and get it done.”

“What Dowoon is trying to say is that we’d all be by your side if you wanted to propose to Y/N,” Sungjin clarified, the calmest of the four of them, “have you thought about it for long?”

“A little while, the time has just never felt quite right yet to do anything about it.”

“You’ll know in your heart when the right time is,” Younghyun assured him, “you can’t rush things like this, no matter how in love the two of you are.”

There was no doubt in Jae’s mind that you were his forever, but that didn’t mean he wanted to not give you the perfect proposal that you deserved. You both could tell from the other that your futures were going to be together, it wasn’t something that you needed to discuss, you both just knew that it was a fact in your hearts.

“We could help you out if you’ve got an idea in mind,” Wonpil suggested excitedly, “or maybe we could help you plan a proposal, there’s some paper lying about somewhere.”

“I’ve not thought that much into it just yet,” Jae laughed, calming them all down, “I’ve only just realised that I’m ready to marry Y/N without worrying too much about anything else.”

Before he met you, the boys all loved to joke about how Jae was likely to be the last of them all to settle down. They never imagined Jae as the type to think about settling down, he was too busy with work and enjoying being young to think about finding love, until he met you.

“Do you think Y/N is ready to marry you?” Dowoon suddenly asked, “has she given you any signs?”

Jae’s head shook back at Dowoon, as he tried to think about if you had dropped any clues. Whilst you hadn’t said anything aloud to Jae, there were plenty of moments where the two of you just had to exchange a look to know that you were in it together.

“Its obvious Y/N would want to marry him,” Younghyun interrupted, stopping Jae’s mind from running away with him, “she looks at him with the same puppy eyes that he looks at her with.”

Sungjin nodded in agreement, “you should hear the way she talks about you when she comes and watches rehearsals, she’s so in love with you.”

“The two of you are forever, that’s all you need to know.”

Watching the two of you at times was chaotic for the four men that sat around Jae, but for all the second-hand embarrassment that they often felt, they knew it was only because the two of you were so in love. You were perfect for each other, not even they could deny that, despite how cringy you could often be.

“It’s a big step deciding that you’re ready to get married,” Wonpil assured Jae, throwing his arm across his broad shoulders, “that alone says how you feel about Y/N, everything else will just fall into place for you both.”

“It has to fall into place perfectly though.”

“And it will,” Sungjin smiled too, moving closer in towards Jae. “We’re all here to help you whenever you need us too. The only thing you have to look forward to is knowing that you’re about to ask Y/N to spend the rest of her life with you.”

Jae’s head nodded in agreement, nothing else mattered as long as he had you forever, just being with each other was perfect enough for you both.

“To be honest, the two of you act enough as a married couple as it is that you don’t have to worry about a wedding too much anyway,” Dowoon continued to tease, giggling away to himself, “the only thing missing is a bit of paperwork.”

“Y/N’ has always talked about how much she wants to get married,” Jae sighed, “it’s much more than just a bit of paper to her.”

He’d made sure to pay close attention for several months whenever you talked about things that you like, making note for when your wedding came. Jae wanted the day to be perfect for you, as he did his proposal too.

Although in his heart he already knew that ‘yes’ was the only answer that you were ever going to give him, he still wanted to give you the moment that you’d watched so many of your friends go through over recent years too.

“The two of you are meant to be,” Younghyun spoke up as the room fell silent, “being ready for forever is the final thing that you need to be complete.”

“You’ve got everything you could ever need in Y/N,” Wonpil added, “everyone knows that she’s not going anywhere, even if you choose not to rush into things.”

“And we’ll all be here for you both too,” Dowoon too spoke, finally allowing himself to be serious, “and I promise that I won’t propose to Y/N too.”

“The only guy she’ll ever want is Jae,” Sungjin replied, shutting Dowoon down.

“Thanks guys, I couldn’t do this without you.”

you shook it lightly, and you could hear the tiniest little tinkling noise

“well no, you could it hear as soon as i touched your ears. i only kissed them to get a reaction out of you”

“can the bell send you away too, or?” you gave him A Look

“alright, alright, i’ll be on my way then” he raised his hands in defeat.

you laughed though, he was really something..

“just ring when you need me, y/n” he called, and with a wink, the mist reappeared, replacing the lanky body with wings

you sighed and grabbed your violin, the bowl and the empty flute, and walked inside

that night, you lay in bed, studying the little bell. it was golden with a delicate J engraved into it

your eyes were drooping while you looked over the bell, and slowly you drifted off to sleep

during the night, the bell had fallen onto the floor, and because it was so small, you didn’t hear it ring, but jae sure did

so around like 5am, jae poofed into your room

seeing you were asleep, he was confused at first, but picked up the bell from the floor and put it on your bedside table before walking out of your room into your kitchen

around 7am, you awoke to the smell of tea being brewed

it smelled so nice and warm,, the thought really could put you right back to sle-

You and Jae are sitting on the couch of his dorm room the other boys are all gone which is a rare occasion. It’s nice sitting cuddled up to him, your back pressed to his chest, his arms wrapped around you. Jae can be a very loud and silly guy he has a certain face he puts on for people and it’s not that he’s not being himself (he definitely is) but there is another side to him he doesn’t always show people. A softer sweeter side, you like this side very much. It’s the side of him that holds you when you cry, brings you lunch when he has the time, picks up gifts for you every place he travels (even if it’s only two hours away), it’s this side that has you pulled close to him as the tv plays and the lights are turned down low. All his sides are good but this one is your favorite.

You don’t often go to award shows or really any big event, they weren’t really your thing but you agreed to go to this one with Jae because he had asked (maybe begged) so nicely. Jae stuck with you as much as he possibly could it actually ended up being a nice night. Watching performers, talking to new people, sitting closely and gossiping with Jae it all ended up being very enjoyable and as usual the boys were amazing. But the room was so fucking cold, you’d think with all the people and the lights you’d be warm but it seemed they had thought ahead to how hot all of the performers would be and it ice cold in there. So there you sat your leg bouncing and hands rubbing together to try and stay warm, not to mention your dress was short which made the cool air even worse.

“Are you cold?” Jae whispered in your ear, you nod.

“Yeah. I think they made it cool in here so the performers wouldn’t get too hot.” You say with a little shrug.

“Here.” Jae muttered and then removed his jacket, you sat in shock as he draped it cover your legs. You looked up and smiled sweetly at him, you cup his cheek and kiss him sweetly.

“Thank you so much, sweetie.”

“No problem.” Jae says, smiling and blinking at you in that cute little way he does. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” You place another kiss on his nose and then turn back towards the stage.

You have had the longest week of you life. Work had been extremely busy for both you and Jae you’d barely had time for a few text messages hear and there. You were trudging up the steps to your apartment because of course the elevator was broken. You struggle to pull out your keys as you stand in front of the door cursing your existence, and the elevator, and your job, and Jae for being gone (even though it really isn’t his fault). Suddenly your door opens and you stumble back, screaming slightly in surprise.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” Jae says, rushing out of your apartment and kneeling down next you. “I heard you swearing out here and I thought you’d need help.”

“A little warning that you were inside would have been helpful.” You grumbled, sitting up with his help and collecting your things. “Why didn’t you text me that you were coming over?”

“Uh,” Jae sets a hand on the back of his neck. “I was trying to surprise you.”

“Oh.” You say in surprise, your mouth falling open.

“Come on.” Jae stands back up and offers his hand to you, you take it and let him pull him to your feet. Jae leads you inside and closes the door behind him. You walk forward and into the kitchen, finding an array of foods waiting for you. Some kind of pasta dish, soda, a brownie dessert, champagne, and fresh cut strawberries. In front of the bowls of food is a glittery card, you move forward and grab the card you open it and see a little note that Jae definitely wrote if the chicken scratch was anything to go by.

I’m sorry I’m always so busy and it makes it harder on us.

Jae: The thought of helping you could come last in his mind as he’d clutch his chest laughing, streaming tears as he’s just a clown. What does he need long legs for if he isn’t going to help you? He’d definitely enjoy watching you struggle to reach it a bit too much.

Sungjin: Though he’d have a little giggle, he’d instantly come over to give you a hand with trying to reach the top sheld, and/or would even to offer to grab that item you needed for you. Though he would respect that you’d still want your independancy and would offer help so he could honour that.

Young K: A smile would appear on his face as he’d let out a small amused smile, and would attempt to hold in his laughter as he’d give you a hand if you let him to. If you don’t he’d laugh at your attempt but either way he’d carefully watch so you didn’t hurt yourself whilst trying.

Wonpil: As much as he can be a sweetie, the amount of time you’d have to try and reach the top shelf would make him get a “Not this, again” attitude, finding it annoyingly amusing watching you trying to do it yourself but he’d just interupt to help you. 

Dowoon: Panic would instantly set in the minute he’d catch you climbing to try and reach it, running over to you to offer help and mainly having his arms out to catch you if you fell and/or hurt yourself. However you wouldn’t have to worry about reaching the top shelf, he’d probably do it for you to stop you climbing.

You beamed as you relaxed on the couch with Jae.  His lips just leaving yours. He giggled at the grin on your face. 

"You know what we need to do?" he looked at you, you thought for a moment then shook your head. 

"Not really, what is it?" You looked at him, the same dorky grin cemented on your face.

"Decorate, and get candy!" He looked at you like an eager child. You nodded quickly then kissed his cheek. 

"We should get ready then," You smiled up at him. He nodded and picked you up, walking to the bedroom. 

You held onto him as he put you down gently, both of you changing at the same time. You walked out as he smiled. "Ready babydoll?" You nodded quickly and smiled to yourself as he grabbed his keys and you looked up at him.

"The last one to the car is a bad candy cane," You giggled and ran down as he whined and ran, beating you at the last second. You pouted up at him. "How did you do that?" You whined.

He chuckled and winked.  "leggg," 

you giggled at the one word. "It's not my fair that your legs are twelve feet long,"

He kissed you quickly then opened the car door for you and bowed with a giggle. "M'lady,"

You grinned "Thank you, kind sir,"

You got in the car and smiled as he drove to a nearby Christmas store. When he parked you got out and took a cart.  He followed you and smiled as he picked up goofy ornaments, placing them gently in the cart. 

He grinned as you walked to the candy aisle then looked at you. "No promises about me controlling myself," 

You giggled and stuck your tongue out. "Don't make me broke,"

"No promises," He smiled as he started to walk around. He picked up two boxes of candy canes, a bag of Reese's peanut butter cups; the biggest bag of them you've ever seen. He put them in the cart and you smiled.

"Is that it?" You sounded a bit too hopeful as he shook his head.

"Nope, my arms were full," He stuck his tongue out then looked around.

By the time he was done the cart was halfway full of just candy. 

"I feel like I'm gonna be your mom," You looked at him as he cocked his head. "I'll be the one to control your sugar intake, then take care of you when you get a stomach ache." 

Jae just giggled as you walked down an aisle. He picked up two Santa hats and put them in the cart. He walked further down the aisle and grinned as he saw a hair tie with jingle bells and ribbon hanging off of it. "You're gonna wear this," He stuck his tongue out and you couldn't help but giggle. 

He smiled as you went down almost all the aisles, finding at least one thing in each aisle. You walked up to the register and watched the total go up, and up, and up. It looked like it was going to never end, you looked at Jae and sighed.

 "This is from all the candy," He smiled at you, at least you thought it was a smile, it could've been a cringe too. 

"I'll pay," He smiled weakly as you nodded. "Good,"

You strolled out to the car with him, putting at least fifty bags into the trunk of a small Toyota Corolla.

It took three trips to finally have all the bag upstairs. When you finished bringing the bags up, Jae already started setting your tree up. You sat on the couch and watched him. As he separated the branches you saw his tongue out of the side of his mouth as he focused. You smiled softly to yourself as you watched. 

"I'm doneee," he laid down on the ground as you shook your head. "No ornaments?" 

He looked over at you. "Noooope, I'm too tired, so that's all you," You giggled as you walked over to the tree with boxes of ornaments, most were brand new but quite a few were from your childhood. You started to hang the ornaments up and smiled as he stood up and started to help. 

"I thought you were too tired," You stuck your tongue out at him as he kissed your cheek. "I just needed to rest for a little bit,"

You watched as he walked over to the bags and took the Santa hats and one of the boxes of candy canes out. 

"Ooh, we should put candy canes on the tree," You grinned as he looked at the box. "Yeah, that's what I was gonna do," He nodded as he put his hat then walked over to you and put your hat on. You smiled up at him. "I'm not saying you can't have one," You opened the box and handed him one, putting the rest on the tree.  He grinned as he ate the candy cane and you shook your head. 

"You're such a child," 

He whined at you, "I am not,"

You shook your head. "and there's my evidence to back it up."

You backed away from the tree and smiled to yourself. "Done," 

Jae looked at the tree and grinned. "You did a good job," 

"Thank you," You grinned as he back hugged you. 

He looked down at you and grinned back. "I love you,"

You looked up at him and smiled. "I love you more,"

He kissed you briefly as he smiled. "are you hungry?" he looked at you as you nodded. "Now that leads to my big question," He grinned, "What would you like to eat?" 

You thought then smiled up at him. "Pizza, bacon and pepperoni," He nodded and let go of you to order it.

When he finished you smiled over at him. "I have a bigger question for you," You smiled up at him as you walked over to the sofa and sat down. He sat next to you. "And what is your question?" 

You looked at all the bags. "What is your plan for all this candy?"

He looked at it after. "Eat it all then get sick,"

You scrunched your nose, giving him a face of disgust as he giggled. "I'm kidding."

You smiled at him "Good, but what are you actually going to do with it,"

"I have absolutely no idea," 

You giggled at him. "You'll figure it out."

a rainy day with jae

hot chocolate and marshmallows

it was late at night. the clouds gathered and formed a huge gray mass above overhead. there was a big breeze and trees swayed against it. the smell of the rain clung to the air. there was going to be a big rain tonight. soon, it was raining, a lot. the rain poured heavily, with occasional flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. i sat on the bed, typing out an email, while jae was lying down next to me, scrolling through his phone.

suddenly, the power went, and the only light illuminating the room was from our screens. i could now hear the steady torrent of rain and the flashes of lighting through the window. i saved my email, closed my laptop screen, and turned to jae. he had put his phone down too since the wi-fi was now down.

"jae?", i asked, reaching out for him in the dark, smacking his face by accident.

"oww", he let out and i stifled my giggle.

"sorry", I told and interlocked my hand in his after locating his hand. after a few minutes of silence, i spoke again.

"i have a sudden craving for some hot chocolate", i told softly.

"then let's go make some", he replied. "wouldn't mind some myself".

we both headed downstairs, the flashlights from our phones guiding us. in the kitchen i found two candles and lit them. jae had opened the back door and was looking out, watching the rain. he was about to step out when i stopped him.

"don't go out, it's dangerous", i told firmly.

"what do you mean? i wanna get a better look", he told.

"you could get struck by lightning, it's crazy out there", i explained and he gave me a 'are you serious' kind of look.

"come on, you gotta live life on the edge babe", he told coolly.

"and how would i get struck by lightning, you're such a drama queen", he added.

i gasped softly at his words.

"i am not a drama queen", i defended and he gave me another look.

"but really, get your ass back in here, it's cold and the candles might go out", i added and sighed coming in, but not before peeking his head out for 3 seconds.

i headed up the milk while jae looked for the marshmallows. i spooned some hot chocolate powder in each cup and poured in the hot milk, stirring it. the smell of chocolate made its way into the air.

"found em", jae told and put in four marshmallows in each cup. i took two extra, adding one to my cup and plopping one in my mouth. it was soft, fluffy, and melted into my mouth. i jumped and sat on the counter, while jae leaned against the fridge with his cup in his hands. the candlelight illuminated his features and he looked cute, even in his messy hair.

"i have an idea", he told, coming forward.

"lemme try roasting it on the fire", he told enthusiastically.

he proceeded to stab a marshmallow with a fork and slowly turned it over the stove flame. it bubbled with the heat and also melted slightly. he took it off and blew on it vigorously before putting it in his mouth.

"is it good?", I asked and he nodded. Hh made one for me too and it tasted pretty good.

i sipped on my hot chocolate, feeling the warmth from the mug on my palms. i was only wearing a long sleeve shirt and it wasn't keeping me much warmer. i heard the beep of the generator, indicating the power was back on. jae turned on the light, taking a big sip of his hot chocolate. i took the pack of marshmallows and put one more in my mug.

"roasting them was a good idea, i should try making s'mores next time", he told.

"guess what, these marshmallows are actually expired", i told and his face fell.

"we're gonna die", he told and i rolled my eyes.

"now who's being the drama queen", I asked.

"it just expired yesterday, so we should be fine", i assured.

"okay, now come and give me a hug. i've been freezing ever since you opened the back door and let in all the cold air", I complained with a fake frown, spreading my arms. he smiled and engulfed me in a warm, tight hug.

A ⇴ AFFECTION

He loves to tease you with his affection, the greater reaction he can get out of you the better. However, once he’s done playing, he’ll love to use his tall frame to wrap around you and make sure you feel safe and loved with him.

B ⇴ BEFORE DATING

Jae’s not shy when it comes to confidence, and he’ll be more than happy to approach you and say hello. He’d probably introduce himself with some sort of smart comment, he wouldn’t quite know how you’d take it, but when you responded with a laugh, he knew that you were someone he could definitely get along with.

C ⇴ CONFESSION

It took a little while for Jae to confess to you, he wanted to be sure of his feelings before rushing into anything. When he did confess, he decided to do it in his room in the dorm out of the way of all the others. It was the first time you really got to see a shy and quiet version of Jae, for once he was a little lost for words as he tried to figure out what he wanted to say. But when he did, he made sure he was absolutely clear to you about his feelings.

D ⇴ DATES

Your dates with Jae were usually quite lowkey, he wasn’t someone that was into fancy trips and huge events, he much preferred to just spend time with you in the dorm and do your own thing. Your dates usually consisted of playing a game of his choosing whilst you got to decide what the two of you ate. If there was one place, he did enjoy taking you to, it would be a gig, he loved live music and having someone beside him who he could dance along with certainly made the experience a lot more fun and enjoyable.

E ⇴ EXPERIENCE

Being with you was the first time Jae had been in a relationship, he was old enough to know how to act in a relationship, and knew he wasn’t getting any younger to start settling down. He’d dated casually before you, but no one caught his attention quite like you did. He’d seen what had happened to colleagues of his over the years who started dating, so he’d be a little bit apprehensive at first, but Jae wasn’t afraid to stand up to the company if he needed to, and if he needed to stand up with you, then he definitely would.

F ⇴ FIGHTING

At times, Jae can be a little bit stubborn, he likes for things to go his own way, and firmly believes that he’s right on most occasions. It can sometimes lead to a few squabbles between the two of you whilst you try to prove that you’re right too, but after a little while, you’ll mutually agree to disagree. Jae hates arguing with you, even though he knows he’s stubborn, sometimes he just can’t help himself. It’s a quality in him that will definitely get better as your relationship goes on, he’ll learn to bite his tongue a lot more and accept that as much as he’d like to be, there are actually instances where he might be wrong.

G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HIS FAMILY

You only got to meet his family whenever he called them, which was never the same as in person. The first opportunity he got to go home, Jae made sure to take you with him as he was desperate for you to meet them all properly, and they were just as keen to meet you, if not a little more excited to meet Jae’s loved one.

H ⇴ HOME

He was very content and comfortable at the dorm, it would take a lot for him to move out. When the other guys started to enlist, he began to think a little more about moving out and finding a place for you. He enjoyed the company, and when he didn’t have the boys around, he realised how important it was to him to have you around.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”

The first ‘I love you’ came from Jae, he’d been having a particularly bad few days, barely leaving his room or taking care of himself, but you were there. You supported him through it all, and when he began to feel better again, he made sure to show you how appreciative he was of how kind you’d been to him.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

Jae was quite prone to feeling jealous, he just couldn’t help himself. He tried to come off as confident to most people, but deep down you knew that he had quite a few insecurities. You would always be able to tell when he was feeling jealous as his face would give it away, he’d look glum and down the second he felt jealous, but you’d always be quick to make things right. He loved how reassuring you always were towards him; he always knew that you would make him feel better whenever he was feeling doubtful.

It took a lot for Jae to be serious and talk about his future, you’d heard the most about his ambitions for the future from listening to the podcast. The first time he mentioned children on it made your heart swell, and when he came home that night you were sure to ask him all about what his thoughts were and question him properly on how he exactly saw his future going, children, and even his future with you.

L ⇴ LAUGHTER

Jae laughed to make you laugh, but he also loved to be around you too as that was when he’d laugh the most. There were definitely days for you both when you didn’t feel like laughing but being around each other really helped you both. The two of you would talk about absolute nonsense sometimes, but it would be the perfect trigger to get you both smiling and laughing. He’d love to tickle you and poke you if you weren’t smiling, he could be very annoying when he wanted to be, but only in the best possible way.

M ⇴ MISSING

He really struggled not having you around when he was on tour, he relied on the boys, especially Younghyun a lot. He was incredibly open about how hard he found it to be away from you, and when it was just the two of you on a call, he wouldn’t be scared to tell you how hard he found things too. It would break your heart whenever you saw him struggle, all Jae wanted sometimes was to be able to reach out for you, but on the other side of the world that was simply impossible. When the time came to go home, he would be an excitable mess, no one would know how to handle him, he’d be desperate just to get on the plane and get off again, being able to see you at the end of the terminal was all he looked forward to.

Like his affection, his nicknames would also be very teasing. ‘Titch’ was one of his favourites for you, he loved to mock you for the height difference between you both and make sure that you felt small beside him.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

He was obsessed with your laughter, it was a bit like a key to his own happiness, whenever he could hear you beside him, it would always make him smile a little more.

P ⇴ PDA

Jae isn’t huge on PDA, he’ll do enough to know that you’re with him, but that’s about it. Being affectionate in public usually makes him quite shy, he doesn’t like people staring at the two of you, he’d much prefer to be subtle and shut the rest of the world off so that it could always just be the two of you together.

His questions would usually be when he wanted help, if he was having a difficult time or needed someone to talk to, you were always the one he’d turn to. He never wanted to burden you, so he’d always check on you first.
