You're standing in line at the grocery store and your toddler has to touch everything within reach. People are giving you looks and you're just too darn tired to do or say anything. So many toddlers can't stand still and also have a bite-sized attention span. They are like little bees. hopping from flower to flower. (That's a generous way of describing it- it actually feels more like a tornado whirling through and leaving a big huge mess behind) But here's the really good news: it's normal for a toddler to have super-charged energy and enormous curiosity. Allow activities that match his high-energy nature like banging pots, throwing balls, and building towers. But also incorporate quiet time and low-key activities that encourage your child to calm down. REALITY CHECK: trust me, after practicing as a paediatrician for more than 30 years, I've seen these spirited little toddlers grow into focused, persistent, and highly-successful kids. I also know firsthand, as my third child was one HYPER little guy. Get one bite-sized chunk of parenting advice each week in your Inbox.
