Here’s something very self-indulgent! I’m so sorry.

A few years ago @thegauntletqueen asked me to draw theme-park mascot & basically Dutch Mickey Mouse Pardoes, and by pure coincidence that post eventually got me in touch with the Efteling fandom (something I genuinely had NO IDEA existed but was very pleased to discover nonetheless)! Ever since, whenever I open art requests on twitter, I always get 2 or 3 people asking for Pardoes content and it’s still the best thing to ever happen to me. I’m very fond of this ugly little bastard

In 2000 werkte ik (letterlijk) dag en nacht aan deze cd-rom game, samen met ontwerper en geestelijk vader van Pardoes de Tovernar en de wereld van Symbolica, Henny Knoet. With the crystal ball he can see oddly specific situations happening from the past or from the future, but the images are usually too blurry for him to know exactly what it is he's seeing.

That telescope is called the Chronoscoop and it is basically a time travelling device. In the game "Een wonderlijk avontuur met Pardoes de Tovernar" (A wonderfull adventure with Pardoes de Tovernar) you get to look trough the telescope and you also have to use it to teleport yourself and pardoes to different parts of the game/theme park. That game actually starts out in that room and there's several lets-plays of it on youtube.

The room is called de sterrenkamer (the star room, literally translated, because of the view i think), and it is supposed to be located right above the observatory, like the one in the ride. It is basically pardoes's study room.

AUGH ok ok so here's another rare pic of pardoes being serious. its so cute i love his face when he's focusing on something. god. i have absolutely no clue what he's doing with the scroll and crystal ball, though i read somewhere that he uses it to see places?? idk whatever it is its cool. i love magic :P i like that he wears his stupid jester outfit even in casual stuff like this. ridiculous.

this is another picture that just has like. magical vibes. and im all about that. i would love to read through books about magic with him and explore all the weird magical shit in this room with him!! what's that telescope let me look through it thank u

Hoi! Ik was benieuwd of je toevallig nog meer geweldige Efteling art hebt gemaakt? Ik hou echt van je symbolica tekening, ik word er erg blij van!

AWH Ik ben blij dat je er blij van wordt :D! Ik heb niet superveel efteling dingen meer getekend (naast Pardoes in supreme gear, of course.) maar ik vind het heel leuk om te doen dus HIERBIJ, SPECIAAL VOOR JOU

I went to the efteling yesterday and symbolica nearly made me cry and then I remembered this REALLY GOOD REQUEST from a while ago so heres that + a study + a redesign inspired by a cool jester hood i saw once! LOV YA STAMPY @onemanstampede
