21.08.2019 / War heute im Stadtteil Sants-Montjuïc unterwegs. Zuerst habe ich den Parc de l'Espanya Industrial und danach den Parc Joan Miró besucht wobei im ersten eher die baulichen Elemente, die wie Leuchttürme aussehen, im Vordergrund stehen und im zweiten die üppige mediterrane Flora.

Im Einkaufszentrum auf der Plaza de España habe ich nicht nur ein Menü von Subway genossen 😁🌯🥤🍪 sondern auch den tollen Ausblick den man von der frei zugänglichen Dachterrasse aus hat. Der Blick auf das imposante Bauwerk, in dem das Katalonische Kunstmuseum (1. Bild, Hintergrund) untergebracht ist, macht meiner Meinung nach den besonderen Reiz dieses Aussichtspunkts aus.

Obra "El Dragón", de Andrés Nagel, pintor, escultor y grabador español de gustos eclécticos, y uno de los artistas vascos actuales de mayor proyección internacional, y con un amplio historial de exposiciones, presentante del arte postmodernista. Esta obra que está ubicada en el Parc de l'Espanya Industrial es realmente un tobogán de 150 toneladas, en forma de dragón. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Work "The Dragon", by Andrés Nagel, Spanish painter, sculptor and engraver of eclectic tastes, and one of the current Basque artists with the greatest international projection, and with an extensive history of exhibitions, a presenter of postmodernist art. Parc de l'Espanya Industrial El parc de l'Espanya Industrial està situat entre els barris de Sants i d'Hostafrancs, al districte de Sants-Montjuïc de la ciutat de Barcelona, a tocar de l'estació de Sants. Va ser construït l'any 1985 pels arquitectes Luis Peña Ganchegui, Antón Pagola i Monserrat Ruiz, en els terrenys que va deixar lliures l'Espanya Industrial, antiga fàbrica tèxtil dels Muntadas fundada el 1847, capdavantera en el ram del cotó a tota Espanya, i que el 1972 es traslladà a Mollet del Vallès. El parc va ser reformat a fons l'any 2009. 1. Favourite New Record/Song/Track of 2017

Phran - Shapes

My number one banger that I'd like to give some shine is Shapes by Phran. It came out this year on DJ Bruce Lee's Rhythm Control Label, unfortunately only as a bonus track on the digital version of the first EP, Impulse. It reminds me of the reason I got hooked on dance music: a compelling hook, relentless percussion and a little modulation.

2. Favourite old record of 2017 (something you discovered for the first time in 2017).

Innerzone Orchestra - Bug In The Bassbin

I went back into the MoWax catalogue recently and came across some absolute gold amongst the masses of tracks put out on James Lavelle's label. One that sticks out is Bug In The Bassbin by Innerzone Orchestra, also known as Carl Craig. Originally released on Planet E in 1992, the version that came through the post was a reissue on MoWax from 1996 in a customarily elegant sleeve.

3. Favourite music related moment of 2017

I'd say watching DJ Zero play a set of hardcore breakbeat and early jungle at the Ameba Park Fest in the Parc de l'Espanya Industrial in May. Everything I like about the Barcelona scene came together: a free outdoor event with the support of the council organised by a young local cultural association. A Barcelona legend behind the decks, as capable as any international DJ that may come through town. My favourite throwback jump-up material, plenty of strobe and smoke. Wicked.

Der französische und später der englische Park waren Symbole der Leitkultur des Adels. Die Entwürfe der großflächigen Gartenanlagen waren Teil des Selbstverständnisses absolutistischer Fürsten, die mit Hilfe der gebändigten Natur Macht und Wohlstand ausdrückten. Kommunale Parkanlagen entstanden erst ab Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts nicht nur in gesundheitspolitischer Absicht, sondern auch als Einrichtung moralischer Bildung. Der Park, nicht nur Ort der Erholung und des Vergnügens, ist seit der Renaissance auch Bühne des gesellschaftlichen Lebens und sozialer Umbrüche. In Krisenzeiten verwandelten sich manche Parks in Notquartiere wie z.B. der Tompkins Square Park in New York City Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts.

Im Zuge des Projektes Sound Development City 2013 besuchte ich unzählige Parks in Lissabon, Madrid, Barcelona und Marseille um sie akustisch zu untersuchen. Waren die barocken Parkanlagen im offenen Feld angelegt, die Parkanlagen des Bürgertums anstelle von Stadtmauern errichtet worden, so liegen die Parkanlagen heute im Zentrum der Städte.

Meine Fragestellung bei meinem projekt "park recordings" lautet: Wie klingen Parkanlagen 2013.

Ich positioniere dabei immer ein omnidirektionales Mikrophon (AKG 414) - das Schall von allen Seiten, auch von oben und unten gleichwertig aufnimmt - in der Mitte der Parkanlage. Die Tageszeit ist beliebig gewählt, der Aussteuerungspegel ist immer gleich eingestellt und ich achte darauf, dass keine ausserordentlichen Tätigkeiten wie Rasenmähen oder Bauarbeiten durchgeführt werden. Die Aufnahmen werden in einer Länge von vier Minuten online gestellt und in weiterer Folge in einer Installation ausgestellt.

The french and later the english park were symbols for the cultural identity of the nobility. The design of the extensive gardens were part of the self-conception of absolutistic rulers who expressed power and wealth through the display of tamed nature. Communal parks didn’t originate until the mid 19th century with a health-political background, as well as a facilities of moral education. From the Renaissance on, the park is not only a place for recreation and relaxation, but also a stage for social life and change. In times of crisis, parks transformed themselves into homeless shelters, like the Tompkins Square Park in New York City at the end of the 20th century did.

In the course of the Sound Development City 2013 project i visited numerous parks in Lisboa, Madrid, Barcelona and Marseille to examine them accoustically. While the baroque parks were set in the open fields, the parks of the middle classes were constructed instead of city walls, the parks of today are located in the middle of the cities.

My working question for my project „park recordings“ was: What is the sound of parks in 2013.

I always placed an omnidirectional microphone (AKG 414) that records sound equally from all sides, including from above and below, in the middle of the park. The time of day was randomly picked, the recording level was always set identically and I paid attention that there weren’t any extraordinary activities like lawn mowing or construction work going on. The recordings are published with a length of four minutes and will be exhibited as an installation.
