The interruption was not a welcome one. If nothing else, Loki liked to put on a show. Yes, some might call him dramatic but he preferred to think of every interaction to be a chance for entertainment. Entertaining to who was up for debate, sure, but he got a rush from taking center stage regardless. He didn't bother breaking his fixed glare on the man. Even as this lowly mortal approached from behind. "Oh yes, we are nearly done here." He promised, looking over the captain. He was in shock. Scared that his pathetic life was coming to an end. Wasn't it poetic? A navy men drown by the waters he spent so much time on? Was this not how all ship captains wished to go? As promised, Loki let go of the man's shirt and allowed him to drop into the waters below. He crotched down at the edge of the dock to watch the man hit the icy waves. Barely popping his head above the surface before being swallowed back down by a white cap. This happened a few times as he struggled against the tide before he stopped coming back up. Well, that was less of a joy than Loki thought it might be. He stood up straight and turned back to the man who had so rudely intruded on his show. "Not sure your-" He looked over the man's basket of goods and pulled a disapproving look across his face. "Herds can do much for that." Loki pointed down at where the captain had last popped up before going under for the last time.
“Fresh swamp vebena, only one crown per piece! Might as well pick up some for the inbounding headache we’re all about to face,” he bellowed to passing dockworkers who were more than glad to shoulder him out of the way. For the most part, he was used to it. Relished it, even, being bullied like a petty merchant. The basket of herbs he carried with him rattled and shook out earthy smells of flowers and greenery with every jostle.
As he was tending to a man who had stopped to purchase something for his scurvy, an altercation sounded from overhead. There was a man being harassed on the ship docked on the edge of the boardwalk. If he listened closer, he could just make out the threats.
They weren’t unreasonable threats. Merely pointless ones, in his opinion. How far could one ship move before being met by a squadron of the Eternal Flame’s?
Tian tipped his head up at the boat, unable to make out much from behind the blindfold but the panicked pulse of the captain beating a drum against his ribcage. It would’ve been easy to ignore. Preferable, actually. But the longer he lingered and took his time counting coin out for his customer, the most insistently his morals nagged him.
“Just a moment,” he told the customer politely before crossing the boards of the dock until he was standing beneath the side of the boat. Tian cocked his head up at the two above, his attention towards the louder man.
“Do you mind keeping it down up there? There are some of us trying to make a living here.”
