Lucien smirked to her “It might be for you.” He leaned in a bit closer his eyes still on hers “Really just a bit Mal?” He asked her softly.

"How can you honor it's passing or give thanks for it's life that way? It seems so disrespectful," Maleficent was the caretaker of her land and never killed needlessly the creatures of it. She was a vengeful and perhaps evil fairy but she bore no ill will to the creatures of the Moors. 

"If we’re talkin’ cooked meat, then yes. I don’t wanna think ‘bout it being alive before I take a bite."

"That's good then," she laughed. "Perhaps but it's my home. It's a part of me," she turned her head to look at him. "You know?"

Lucien looked to her leaning close and took a sniff “Nope you smell like a pine tree.” He mused softly looking to her eyes “This is a lot of land you have to protect.”

Maleficent put a finger to her lips. "Hush now Diaval. Just take a deep breath and repeat after me," she put her hands on his shoulders to get him to look her in the eyes. "Everything is going to be fine. Mistress Maleficent can handle anything except Diaval's excessive nagging. Nothing bad will happen," she squeezed his tense shoulders. "Got it?"

"Since you gave me this form, I do nothing but worry.”

It has been difficult for him, adjusting all these emotions that come along with a human form. Some days he feels as if he’s gotten the hang of it. On others, the emotions overwhelm. He does his best to keep himself stoic in front of his mistress, though.

"I can care of myself just fine, Diaval. Do not worry so."

As if she'd leave him here by himself. If it wasn't safe for her then it couldn't be safe for him.

"It’s not exactly safe for you here.”

It’s a weak excuse, he knows. But there’s always concern being felt for her in his chest.

"Well it is awfully fun," Maleficent laughed. "Maybe I am a bit fond of you too," she couldn't help but tease him.

Lucien leaned a bit closer looking to her eyes “Maybe I am though I would say the same thing since you tease me endlessly.” He whispered softly his own eyes sparked with magic.

"Does it? Do I smell foul to you then?" she sniffed her arm but it didn't smell like much of anything but the forest to her. "Well I'd same I'm at least as wild as the land I protect if not more so," she laid back again and gestured to the unkempt wilderness around them.
