Last year I decided that instead of new business cards (wasteful, forgettable, for able-bodied people with job prospects) I would make a free zine (memorable, punk, cheap, depraved) that I could tuck into my shop orders like evil gay Chick tracts.
The physical zines are black and white photocopied foldies but I spent this afternoon gussying up a color version for the World Wide Web. If you want a real one to have and to hold and to turn into a paper airplane or origami cicada, all you have to do is buy something from me. Or know the secret password. The comic has been running very slowly since my arm decided to have some kind of repetitive strain explosion in 2021, but by God I am still working on it, and if random updates dictated by the caprice of life isn’t in the spirit of Webcomics, I don’t even know what is.

Twos fear(‘s) 2/??
before Tpot 3 :
“hmm maybe i should get a notebook to write down my thoughts i have been getting lately.”
Two said, walking away with a pink notebook he decided to write how he has been feeling lately.
“How can i be a perfec-“
“nah.”
*rips and crumbles the paper*
*clicking the pen*
“i got it!”
“I have lately felt off recently, i have been overthinking a lot lately being a host is hard, but it can show i can do more then cause trouble.. but getting those contestants was hard enough! Four being annoying as always, it took a bit of time convincing those useless contestants anyways. I need to show the others how strong and capable with controlling my powers and handling a show at once!”
during Tpot 3:
“Alrighty the strongest team on earth is up for elimination!”
“lets check the votes”
long story short..
Foldy got eliminated!
Now for the challenge they had to do a amusement park attraction for Two, Two was excited they never went to an amusement park! the teams were doing the challenge and Two they wanted to write something since they were excited they wanted to write about it!
“Todays challenge seems like fun! Tho the contestants they probably don’t know what to do.. (useless rats.) I hope me and Gaty are able to talk I really hope so! And if one of those objects make me a roller coaster it better be good!”
Two closed the book and left they are now sitting somewhere else and see Gaty coming towards them, They start talking and Two starts talking about their powers
2: “Yeah so basically when i use my powers it burns my hands, my powers usually NEVER do that, im really worried right now!”
G: “Is okay Two i hope you get better! and are you sure you don’t overuse your powers a little too much?”
2: “…no. I never do I only use them for the good like helping those r-… contestants.. You know?..”
G: “O-o-oh yeah uhm maybe before using them you should think about if is good or not!”
2: “yeah i should.., You should go help your team they look like their struggling haha..”
G: “Uhm okay!”
Gaty walks away confused why is Two acting so weird..
Gaty is overthinking and overwhelmed if she said something wrong.
“Does Two love using their power? is it getting to them? gosh all these questions are making me feel dizzy..”
Gaty walks to her team and helps them.
Two grabs their notebook and starts writing down their feelings
“Why would she ask that? and gosh i almost said something else then “contestants” is stupid! im stupid! is whatever for now.”
back to the challenge
“Is everyone done with their amusement park attraction?”
“YEAH!”
Two looks at all of them giving each one a score, Then they see a roller coaster
“oh my golly gee! i never been in one of those!”
They get one it, excited and all!
It was nice at first.. then it got fast Two didn’t feel good but they couldn’t use their powers.. Gaty told them that.
They couldn’t take it..
They used their powers for something stupid and crashed the roller coaster.. They never meant that, They tried to fix it with their powers but their hands it burned they couldn’t take it.. They gave Are you okay a good score 7/10. since Two accidentally destroyed their roller coaster.. luckily that was the last attraction. Team8’s and The S are up for elimination now.
Two and the contestants left the amusement park.
Two in their free time wrote on their notebook again.
“My stupid powers destroyed their roller coaster! it wasn’t my fault it never is! All that speed made me sick and i remembered something while i was there it was a blue figure or was it white i cant remember it was to blurry.. Does it matter? no not at all! I used my powers why didn’t it hurt like it does?”
Two checked their arm skin was r..ripped?!
THIS WAS RUSHED(badly..)
if u see any misspellings sorry💔

How I fold my curved origami
Lots of people are asking how can you make curved origami, so here's a little explanatory post! First off, credit where credit is due, most of the curved origami I've posted is either directly following or inspired by the work of Ekaterina Lukasheva (instagram). I would definitely recommend checking out her book on curved origami if you're interested in the subject, as part of the following post is also inspired by it.
1. Useful basic terms to know: Crease pattern (CP): This is what the patterns marking the creases necessary to fold the model are called. A good CP will have the valley folds (paper folded like this -> V) and mountain fold (paper folded like this -> ^) contrasted in some way, either by using different types of line or different colors.
Molecule: When a pattern is repeated, the repeated unit is called a molecule.
2. Materials needed A crease pattern to follow: There are a ton in Lukasheva's book! I've also made one myself, and there are of course plenty you can find online for free, like this one, or this more simple version with only one molecule. If you're just starting, I recommend trying out just one molecule first, and with a model you have a photo of, so that you know what results to expect.
Once you've got your pattern you only really need two more thing: paper, and some kind of sharp tool to mark the creases from your pattern onto that paper. Standard printer paper works fine! Feel free to experiment with other types if you like, I have a mix I like to use here, and here are what it looks like with just scraps of paper. Definitely no need to buy specialty paper if you're starting out.
For the sharp tool, I prefer to use an empty mechanical pencil (i prefer ones with a metal tip for easy cleaning, but a plastic one will work perfectly fine if you use clean paper). These are easy enough to obtain but if you don't have one a simple toothpick will also do the job, although you might have to replace it if it cracks.
These are the only essentials in my opinion, but more tools can be used as you progress, like a spray bottle with water which will make the paper keep its shape on its own, small clothespins to keep the paper in place for more complex models, or curved rulers to invent your own pattern. Again Lukasheva's book is quite useful for suggestion on what materials to get, but no need to rush and buy it all to start!
3. How to actually do it To get the pattern on the paper you actually plan to fold, you can either directly print it (a good reason to use printer paper), or if you don't have a printer place your paper on your computer screen and trace it. If you'd like to fold another paper than the one you have the pattern on, you can place your patterned paper on top of the one you intend to fold, and follow the creases with your sharp tool. They will be transferred onto your end goal paper and you can trace them again with your tool to reinforce them. Check out the first clip in this video for an example of this process. If you mess up while tracing, don't worry too much; you can always go over the line again.
Once you have your pattern on your paper of choice, it's time to reinforce those creases. This is a crucial step to ensure sharp creases and will drastically simplify the folding process. To do this, look at your pattern and verify which creases are valley folds and which are mountain fold. Then, take your sharp tool and mark them in the direction you want the paper to go. Since you are always marking valleys with your tool, switch your paper to the other side when you want to make mountain folds. This is especially important if you have colored your paper and want a specific side to be viewed. If you've marked the wrong side, simply switch your paper to the other side and mark it the right way; creases on printer paper are pretty easy to reverse. Don't hesitate to be quite forceful during this step, again we want those creases to be sharp.
Once that is done the folding can start! For this step, lightly push the sides of the paper together as if you were making it smaller. It should naturally follow the curves you've marked. Your job is now to go over those creases and reinforce them as you would with folding a straight crease: use your nails or the tips of your fingers to progressively sharpen them. I find it easier to work from the sides to the center, in several passes folding the paper sharper and sharper. You can see an example of this process here. As you can see I am reinforcing the curves by pushing the waves towards each other, making the mountain folds go up and the valley folds go down. Like plate tectonics! A useful part of the folding process is understanding paper tension. In this video you can see I am holding the paper in my right hand in a way that holds it together: I am pinching a mountain fold with two fingers on the bottom, and holding another one with my thumb on the top. This makes it easier to go with my left hand and fix the valley fold in the spiral in the bottom by simply pushing down on it; you can see it snapping into place automatically. The more creases you are trying to hold together at the same time, the harder it is; this is why it's useful to start will simple models. A final folding example in this video: here too I am holding the paper with my right hand, and pinching with my left. Pinching with only your fingers makes a softer gesture, and helps at the beginning of the process to avoid sharp creases where you don't want them. Using one nail (or a ruler if you have short nails) alongside a curve will help sharpening your curves without pinching with both your nails and risk making a straight line accidentally. I find that folding the mountain folds (like the blue curve in the last example) is easier for me. For the other half of the curves, simply turn the paper over and the valley folds become mountains! You can also sharpen your creases with the tool you use to mark them down on the paper like in this video. This is especially useful for the center of spirals which are otherwise hard to get precisely with only your fingers. Mostly this process involves a lot of back and forth! Don't be worried about sharpening the same line several times, or having to push it down the right way more than once. It is also useful to look at a photo reference of the model you are folding to know what results to expect; how sharp the creases should be, or which creases are valleys or mountains if you get confused.
Once you're satisfied with your model, you can either leave it as is if you like to stretch it and scrunch it, or you can let it set a bit for it to keep its shape. For this, simply lay your model on a flat surface, and place some books or whatever heavy objects you have on each side, squeezing it as much as you can like in this photo (no need to put a book on top of it in addition to the sides if you're afraid about squashing it). You can then leave it overnight to keep its shape! This will work even better if you lightly spray it with water before leaving it. And that's it! please tell me if you've used this to make some curved origami, or if you'd like more clarifications. Enjoy your folds and see ya!

how to wind yarn off a spindle and onto a toilet paper roll for plying: a shortcut
find a box big enough to put your spindle in, and cut a tiny hole in between the foldy bits of the lid for your yarn
find a drill and a whisk (the kind that goes in an electric whisk, without a handle. i found mine at goodwill 👍)
put the whisk in the drill and wrap paper towels around the narrow part of the whisk so the toilet paper tube doesn’t wobble like mine does in the video
slide the toilet paper tube onto the whisk
put your spindle in the box and either tape the lid (temporarily) shut or put something moderately heavy on it, so it stays closed
and you’re good to go! go slow at first, and remember to move the yarn back and forth as you’re winding so it goes on evenly
closeup of drill and box:

btw the drill is purple bc i painted it, they sadly dont come in that color :(

I love Foldy so much!!
I just love this paper girl so much whenever I see her she makes me so happy! I love her design, her personality, and everything!! She should've stayed in TPOT longer, it honestly felt like they gave everyone else a reason to stay aside her.

Hit the library this morning to photocopy a map of my new city. I like a nice big paper map, road atlas style, not all huge and foldy and inconvenient but a nice 11X17 library photocopy.
There was an event in the meeting room that was like, Women's Business Networking Iniative Training Girlboss for Women, or something. The kind of thing I would have gone to ten years ago. I peaked in a moment. There were a dozen women listening to a speaker and they all had the same hair. The same! The same! Same style: straight, just past the shoulders, cut the same way, same texture, mostly the same shade of brown. Some of it was dyed that brown and some of it was natural. One had a pony tail. All thin white ladies, all younger than me. And actually, ten years ago, I was thinner and I sometimes straightened my hair, so maybe I would not have been an entirely different species back then. I wonder if the ponytail one noticed she was the only ponytail. Or if the glasses one noticed she was the glasses one.
Anyway! Very glad I didn't have to go to that meeting.

Some magical toys
They’re fun to look at.
This thing
Tumblr media
Isn’t this thing marvelous? The beaker in the little twig stand! The jewel on the cauldron! The spellbook! The wand holder! This thing is so hecking cute! Ok, it wouldn't be in person. In person it would be too small, and all the parts all joined together so you can’t move the spellbook or the candle, it makes bingldey electronic noises and its plastic nature would be all too obvious. But maybe if I saved some sticks and boards I could make a real one!
Magic Mixies
Are neat. They are definitely neat. Mixing potion ingredients and waving a wand to summon your own plush familiar is top tier magical toy.
The price kept me from getting my own, but then they introduced the dolls and they are such wonderful dolls. The faces are amazing, they’re just so cute.
Tumblr media
The only problem is that if there are several you can’t resist, you accumulate several potion bottles that you don’t actually need. The website does have a section that suggests you make each pixling’s potion by filling the bottles with glitter and things which… ok, points for trying but it’s not reeeeeally a reuse option that actually works. I also thought that the bottles might look cool with battery operated candles inside. The bottles are neat items, it’s just that you end up with more than you have a use for so it becomes waste.
I emailed the company suggesting a “minimal packaging option for collectors” might be a good idea-- and I got a quite nice reply! I don’t know if they’ll listen, but you could message too if you wanted. The company really loves the magical reveal gimmick, and it is super cool, but the dolls are nice enough to stand on their own as a toy.
...I also told the company about treasure rocks, because if anybody’s going to bring them back it’ll be the company that’s big into the “magic reveal.” And I got no reply at all so I don’t think that’ll happen!
Wishcraft Toys
Tumblr media
I thought I saw these mentioned on the livejournal post about How To make Magic, but looking back I don’t see it there. Either way, this three-toy set includes a paper foldy fortune teller, a deck of tarot cards, and a pendulum with pendulum board.
The tarot cards aren’t great, they’re black and white with pink and blue accents, the art is just not much. The cards are marked on the back so if you look closely you can do the psychic thing of looking at the back of the card and knowing which one it is. They come with a printed felt reading cloth with a spread printed on it, and there’s a booklet with extremely basic descriptions o what the cards mean.
The pendulum is two plastic ends on a satin cord, with one of the ends containing a magnet. The cardboard pendulum board has a piece of metal inside it that will make the end of the pendulum skip around and appear to point at one of the fortunes printed on it. It’s a subtle effect, not flashy, but it is kind of neat. Or you can use the magnet-free end for a natural fortune.
And the foldy thing is a foldy thing. I’m an absolute sucker for packaged magic, but this package is not really worth it. You can make your own pendulum and you should drop twenty bucks for a deck of tarot cards that really call to you.
Safari Ltd also has a line called "Wishcraft" that are, as you might guess, mystical crafty kits.

Democrats' Fake News Sites Face Plant in Wisconsin and Tennessee
By: Matthew Foldi Across America, highly-localized “news” outlets with innocuous sounding names like The Dogwood, The ‘Gander, and Iowa Starting Line have cropped up, ostensibly to keep local populaces informed, but in reality they are actually just Democrat propaganda outfits.
