Confirmado: Pantheon de Roma vai começar a cobrar ingressos.

Lá no início do ano eu publiquei a notícia de um rumor que o governo da Itália 🇮🇹 estava pensando na possibilidade de cobrar pela entrada do Pantheon de Roma.

Pois o ministro da cultura da Itália,Gennaro Sangiuliano foi a imprensa confirmar a notícia.

A partir do dia 1º de julho o templo religioso passará a cobrar 5 euros para entrar.

Segundo o ministro toda a renda arrecadada será destinada a refeitórios sociais e na ajuda da restauração e manutenção das obras de arte que estão lá.

Hello from Rome, Italy! 🇮🇹

I’ve been wanting to see these monuments for a while: the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. All magnificent works of architecture, full of history. But sometimes, your monumentous expectation of visiting a place is not what it seems.

What you don’t see or feel are my feelings of angst. Even in “low tourist season”, there are long lines, the crowds you almost need to push through, pickpockets to watch out for. I learned pretty quickly Rome is a year round tourist destination. I don’t enjoy overcrowded places because everyone’s collective energy feels stressful to me. And these places gave me a lot of stress. I was honestly drained after visiting all these and wanted to retreat back into my hostel to lay down and read 📚

This is the ebb and flow of my travel. A big city stresses me out, so I retreat back into the small villages and mountains to decompress. It’s a balance, there are places I want to see, but there’s a price I have to pay for it.

I went for a walk after mass today, not intending to visit the Pantheon just yet. But out from a corner, just as I was making my way back to my hotel, there it was in all its glory. Day 3 in Rome! Here we are in the early morning in Rome… standing in St. Peter’s Square. St Peter’s basilica is behind us. Peter was crucified upside down here in the square and his body is buried in the basilica. Here is a picture of the Pieta, Mary cradling the body of Jesus, sculpted by MichaelAngelo. We visited the Vatican museums and then spent time in the Sistene chapel marvelling over MichaelAngelo’s amazing paintings. The prophets Joel Ezekiel Jeremiah Daniel and Isaiah are painted here and along the walls are beautiful paintings of Jesus on one side and Moses on the other! Moses teaching the people, ready to break the stone tablets, parting the Red Sea, Jesus being baptized, preaching the sermon on the mount, healing and teaching, rising from the dead. And the coming judgement when Jesus will call his own to Himself.. they say a picture can say a 1000 words. These certainly do!! With hearts and minds just bursting with all we saw we continued on to the Basilica where St. Paul is buried. We saw the tomb as well as the chains Paul endured. We visited the Trevi fountain, the Pantheon, the Spanish steps, ate amazing pasta and then spent the afternoon at the colosseum, the Roman forum and Palatine Hill. This is an incredible city! And as we reflect on the day we are much in prayer for all those who thirst for the truth, are so close to it… but don’t always see it! “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
