Charles's Angel(s)
Ch. 51
Charles Leclerc x Reader
"Charles!" you called out as you stood in front of the full-length mirror in your bedroom. You had been trying to reach behind to hook your blouse together.
Missing home, you had started a cultural organization in Monaco for people like you and increased exposure to others. So, here you were, dressed in a saree (or at least trying to be), putting some heavy jewelry on, and wearing bold colors you would otherwise avoid.
Your boyfriend saunters into the bedroom, rolling up the sleeves of his panjabi (A.K.A. Kurta), which you had gifted to him for the occasion. Honestly, he had no right to look as good as he did in everything he wore. You rolled your eyes internally at the thought.
“Yeah, Cherie?”
“Can you clasp the back of the blouse for me?" you pout at him through the mirror. “I can’t reach.”
“Yeah, give me a-," he freezes as he finally looks up at you. Wow, he thinks. If he thought you were beautiful before, you were gorgeous when you’re adorned in your cultural clothes. From head to toe, from the carefully styled bun at the back of your head, the intricate neckpiece decorating your décolleté, the soft cloth winding around your perfect curves, and the red dye painted onto your hands and feet, you were glowing like a goddess.
"Charles?" Your shy voice pulls him out of his stupor. “My back…”
"Ah, yes, hold on." He takes his time making his way over to you, taking in the image of you. Your blouse is wide open at the back, giving him a generous view of your smooth skin, almost as if to tease him.
He reaches out and runs his fingers along your spine, watching as goosebumps trail his touch. You bite your lip to stifle a moan, but Charles notices this. Leaning forward slowly, he begins to leave soft pecks up your back and towards your neck, nipping gently once he reaches your jaw. You whine, feeling conflicted. “Charles… We need to go! I—mmm... I need to make sure everything’s going well!" With a heavy heart, you push him away from your jaw and twist your head enough to look up at him. “Pleeease do the hooks on my back?” you plead, giving him your best puppy dog eyes, ones you learned from Leo. Sighing, he obliges, slowly doing the hooks up and tying the strings at the top.
“Thanks, baby. Now I just need to wear my anklets, if I could just find them... ”, you scamper around the room searching for your pair of nupur (payals).
“You mean these?" your devil of a boyfriend holds up the two tinkling metal articles of jewelry.
You put your hands on your hips. “May I have them back, please?”
“No.”
Before you can open your mouth to ask why, Charles interrupts you. “I want to put them on you.”
Sighing and trying very hard to stop a blush from creeping its way onto your face, you take a seat on the bed, bringing one foot up to rest on Charles’ knee. He carefully wraps the anklet around your delicate ankles, doing the clasp and placing a kiss right on the red dot of alta on your foot. Something about him putting the anklets on you is so very romantic— as if he were worshipping you— and you feel butterflies wreaking havoc within. He repeats with the second foot, and this time he leans forward to peck your lips cutely.
He helps you off the bed, holding his arm out. “Ready to go?”
You nod, not trusting your voice to not fail you. Clearing your throat, you ask about Leo. “Is Leo ready to go?”
"Mhm," Charles begins walking out of the bedroom with you in tow.
“Wait!”
He comes to an abrupt stop, nearly making you crash into him. Turning toward you with an expression that says, What now? You lift your intertwined hands, undoing your fingers, and bring his pinkie to your mouth, gently biting down on his finger.
“Ow! What was that for?”
“You look too pretty, baby. I can’t let anyone else take you from me", you explain to him with mischief twinkling in your eyes, as if everyone knew that was what biting people’s pinkies meant.
Blushing, he lifts your own fingers toward his mouth, nearly chomping your pinkie down. “Ow! Charles! No, not that hard!” He soothes the sting by enveloping the finger entirely in his warm mouth. You yank your hand away after a couple seconds and grab his wrist to check the watch on it. “Okay, now we’re really late.”
You giggle as you pick up Leo and follow Charles to the car. You loved your culture, but you loved being able to share it with loved ones even more.

yes, hi! it's safe to say that whenever i read something of yours, my brain turns to absolute goo during the first read because ecstatic over whatever events you've detailed or references you've included! during subsequent reads, i'm just in awe of how well you craft a story! also, we seem to mesh very well on preferred tropes, so i know there'll more than likely be excellent caliber hurt/comfort! ALSO. should alicia and michael ever divorce - I WISH THEM ETERNAL HAPPINESS; I SPEAK IN HYPOTHETICALS - i can count on you to complete your alicia/domhnall trilogy!
Multiple reads, wow, YOU ARE TOO KIND! This was so nice to read! You wouldn't believe how hard it is sometimes to reel in the pop culture references because I recognize that everyone isn't a walking IMDB who also desperately misses Behind The Music!
At this point, I would settle for Alicia Vikander just being in something good and vaguely watchable??? I tried to watch Irma Vep and it was such a slog that I gave up after two episodes. (The only redeeming value it had was her thing with Adria Arjona who was not in it enough for it to matter!) I get that she's being more selective, I guess, but she is selecting boring things! Fire your agent! I miss Alicia Vikander and Domhnall Gleeson working together and talking about each other. (I listened to a damn podcast for those clowns! I almost NEVER listen to podcasts!) WHEN AM I GONNA GET THEM BEING SPIES TOGETHER??? Admittedly, I haven't watched Domhnall Gleeson's show with Steve Carrell, but I remember how excited I was for HBO's Run (Domhnall! Merritt freakin' Wever! Archie Panjabi!) and then how terribly disappointed I was in HBO's Run. That burn still hurts. I will never forgive them for taking a concept so good and messing it up so badly, especially when everyone in it was looking exceptionally dreamy!

We also attend other pre-wedding celebrations including Mandvo, Mehndi and Janoi for Asian cultural weddings and Engagement party for African culture. Families are normally the main theme in these celebrations, normally with a lot of different parts in one event. We appreciate all these colourful, beautiful weddings with one of a kind dresses and suits which couples and families have spent so much effort to make them. If you want to throw an unforgettable party, hiring a Bhangra DJ can bring the fun and energy you need! Bhangra is a lively music and dance style from Punjab, a region in India and Pakistan. In this blog, we will explore what a Bhangra DJ does and why they are perfect for celebrations, and we will give you tips for choosing the right one for your event.
What is Bhangra?
Bhangra started as a folk dance that celebrated the harvest season. Over time, it has grown into a vibrant music and dance style loved by many. Bhangra is known for its energetic beats and colourful outfits, making it a hit at parties and weddings.
What Does a Bhangra DJ Do?
A Bhangra DJ specializes in playing music that gets people dancing. Here are some critical roles they play at events:
Creating a Fun Atmosphere
A good Bhangra DJ knows how to set the mood for your party. They understand what songs will get people excited and on the dance floor. Whether it's a wedding, birthday party, or festival, a Bhangra DJ will ensure everyone is having a great time.
2. Mixing Traditional and Modern Music
Bhangra DJs are great at combining traditional Bhangra music with modern sounds like hip-hop and EDM (electronic dance music). This mix attracts different types of guests and keeps the energy high all night long.
3. Making Unique Remixes
Many Bhangra DJs create their remixes of popular songs. Adding Bhangra beats to well-known tracks makes the music fresh and exciting. It keeps guests engaged and encourages them to dance.
Why You Should Hire a Bhangra DJ
Cultural Experience
Hiring a Bhangra DJ allows your guests to taste Punjabi culture. Even if unfamiliar, they can appreciate the music and dance, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
2. High Energy
Bhangra's music is always upbeat and lively. A Bhangra DJ brings an exciting energy that makes guests want to dance. Their interactive style often includes engaging the crowd and making everyone feel included.
3. Versatile for Any Event
Bhangra DJs are perfect for all events, from weddings to birthday parties and corporate functions. They can adapt their music to suit the theme and audience, ensuring everyone has a blast.
Tips for Choosing the Right Bhangra DJ
Finding the right Bhangra DJ is crucial for a successful event. Here are some helpful tips:
Do Your Research
Start by looking for local Bhangra DJs. Read reviews online and ask friends or family for recommendations. A DJ with a good reputation is more likely to make your event memorable.
2. Listen to Their Music
Many DJs share their mixes online. Take the time to listen to their music to see if their style matches what you want for your party.
3. Discuss Your Needs
Once you find a few DJs you like, reach out to them. Talk about your event type, the crowd, and any specific songs you want to include. This helps them prepare the best playlist for you.\
4. Check Their Experience
Ask potential DJs about their experience with Bhangra music and events. An experienced DJ will know how to handle any surprises that may come up during your party.
5. Review Contracts and Pricing
Before finalizing your decision, make sure you understand the contract. Look for details about pricing, cancellation policies, and any extra fees. This helps avoid surprises later.
Must-Have Bhangra Songs for Your Playlist
To help your DJ create a fantastic playlist, here are some popular Bhangra songs that are sure to get everyone dancing:
“Mundian To Bach Ke” by Panjabi MC
This song is a classic that blends traditional Bhangra with hip-hop. It's a hit at parties all over the world.
2. “Tunak Tunak Tun” by Daler Mehndi
This catchy track is famous for its fun dance moves and upbeat rhythm, making it a favourite for all ages.
3. “Bolo Ta Ra Ra” by Daler Mehndi
With its lively beat, this song invites everyone to sing along and join in the fun.
4. "Lungi Dance" by Yo Yo Honey Singh
This track pays tribute to the famous actor Rajnikanth and combines South Indian beats with Bhangra, appealing to younger audiences.
5. “Saudagar Sauda Kar” by A.R. Rahman
This song has a traditional feel but is still danceable, making it a great addition to any Bhangra playlist.
How to Make Your Event Bhangra-Themed
If you want to make your event more fun, consider using a Bhangra theme. Here are some ideas:
Decorate with Bright Colors
Use vibrant colours in your decorations. Think about bright tablecloths, colorful flowers, and traditional Punjabi art to create a festive atmosphere.
2. Interactive Dance Sessions
You could hire a Bhangra dance instructor for your event. Guests can learn some dance moves before the party starts, which adds an interactive element.
3. Encourage Traditional Dress
Ask guests to wear traditional Punjabi outfits or colourful clothing that fits the Bhangra theme. This adds to the fun and makes for great photos.
4. Serve Traditional Food
Consider serving Punjabi dishes like biryani, samosas, and lassi. The right food can enhance the experience and complement the music.
Conclusion
Bhangra DJs bring joy and energy to any celebration. Their unique ability to mix traditional sounds with modern beats makes them a valuable addition to your event. Choosing the right Bhangra DJ and incorporating Punjabi culture can create a fun and memorable experience for all your guests.
Whether you're planning a wedding, birthday party, or corporate event, don't overlook the power of Bhangra music. With a Bhangra DJ leading the way, your celebration will be filled with laughter, dancing, and unforgettable memories!

BUCKLE UP FOLKS THIS IS A VERY PERSONAL POST (abt questioning gender wahooo)
am I enby? am I a butch/tomboy? am I a demigirl? am I only questioning my gender identity bc I live in a patriarchal society where femininity is demonized so I feel comfier in the default which is masculinity? h m m m . .
like I cringe when people call me "a good girl" or "ladylike" or whatever, but that's typically said by desi aunties n stuff, I know they don't mean to hurt me or anything and I do appreciate the sentiment bc they just want to acknowledge how hard I work . . . but it just messes with me, like it doesn't feel right being called that . . . I don't think i'd care much if people saw me as a boy or whatever, but I guess that'd be hard to do lol I look pretty fem (got pretty soft ish facial features ig)
i've never really felt comfortable wearing traditional desi outfits bc I feel like I look wrong . . . in a way. Like they feel tight around my chest (and that's emphasized too much imo, but compared to others I might not have much to hide :P) and I think I'd feel much more comfortable wearing masc stuff like a panjabi or something (but that doesn't have to be a gender thing, that could just be a comfort thing like shopping from the mens section in general)
i've never liked being seen as a stereotypical woman or being held to all these restricting molds that afab folks are forced into, like having kids and managing domestic roles n stuff . . . like is that all I am? a walking incubator? I'm more than that :\\ maybe I feel safer presenting as masc bc being fem comes with all these standards I feel suffocated by.
i don't mind she/her pronouns but I think I wanna try out they/them along with that, make a little pronoun salad yk? mix things up and experiment bc there's nothing wrong with that. And with fem clothes, I think some are fine, like i'll wear a tennis skirt now and again, but I think I might just have a general dislike for them bc my mom has picked out my clothes for me since I was little, and her perception of how her daughter should look doesn't match up with how her kid sees themselves. She grew up in a different culture, which isn't her fault. If I feel confident in fem clothes, it's because I picked it out and Ik i'll feel good in them because it's what I want for myself.
I don't completely hate my appearance, I don't mind menstruating and bras and whatnot (I think I feel pretty fucking badass in them lol, black lace for the win lets gooo). But sometimes I don't really like the curves of my legs?? like sometimes I wish I could de-emphasize my hips so I try to wear baggier pants n whatnot. Is that a dysphoria thing? Maybe? I don't really know . . . And I never liked how my voice sounds bc its too high n nasally (maybe too fem? but all that boils down to how I define femininity), I wish I sounded like a few of my guy friends :\\ wish I had my voice a little deeper like theirs, need some of their testosterone lmaooo (I don't think I'd go on hormones or whatever, just joking around over circumstances I can't control). Sometimes I get this urge to cut all my hair off bc it's hella long and I think a shorter/medium style would be affirming for me. I've gotten used to seeing myself in a certain light that I really want to change things up just to see how my confidence would improve.
tldr, I guess I just feel mostly like a girl? but also not quite? if i'm making sense. I just don't like how rigid gender norms are in western society and I don't completely feel like a boy or want to be a boy either. I'm pretty attracted to and would like to present more masculine (mostly regarding clothing, but also my crushes have been pretty masc/tomboyish) or androgynous in general.
in the end, how I view myself will def change between now and later, so I don't need to feel pressured by picking a label or feeling intimidated by using a term that feels "wrong". if I think it'll work for me now, I might as well stay with it unless something changes in the future. phases aren't necessarily a bad thing, it just means you're taking time to experiment and see what fits you best, you wanna understand yourself and there's no harm in that.

A Journey into the History of Jewelry
Jewelry, the art of adorning human beings for centuries with captivating charms, has a history as vibrant as the gems it often features. Let's embark on a dazzling journey through time and explore the evolution of jewelry from its beginnings to the modern designs we see today.
1. Our earliest flirtation with jewelry dates back to the Paleolithic era, around 25,000 years ago. Evidence suggests in prehistoric times when early humans adorned themselves with simple items like shells, bones, and stones.
2. The classical civilizations of Greece and Rome, mastered goldsmithing techniques, creating delicate filigree and granulation work. Gold and gemstones were prized materials, and intricate designs were inspired by mythology, nature, and daily life.
3. As civilizations blossomed in Mesopotamia and Egypt, jewelry blossomed with them. Gold, discovered around 3,000 BC, became a coveted material, fashioned into intricate necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.
4. The Middle Ages saw a shift towards more symbolic jewelry. Crosses, pendants depicting saints, and signet rings bearing family crests became commonplace. The use of silver and enamel became prominent because of its availability.
5. The Renaissance brought a renewed focus on classical forms and motifs. Jewelers drew inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman designs, incorporating cameos, scrolls, and mythological figures.
6. The Baroque era was characterized by opulence and grandeur, and jewelry mirrored this trend. Large, bold pieces adorned with diamonds, pearls, and colorful gemstones were in vogue reflecting the exuberance of the time.
7. The turn of the 20th century brought about two distinct styles in jewelry design. Art Nouveau embraced flowing, organic forms inspired by nature, while Art Deco favored geometric shapes and bold colors.
8. In the 21st century, customization and personalization are now key trends, allowing individuals to express their unique style and stories through their jewelry.
9. Today, jewelry continues to evolve, reflecting diverse cultural influences and personal styles. From the minimalist elegance of Scandinavian design to the vibrant colors and intricate craftsmanship of Indian jewelry, there's a piece for every taste and story to be told.

Feel the Beat: Discovering the Energetic Melodies of Bhangra Music Bands
In the heart of Punjab, India, where the fields are vibrant with the colours of tradition, a musical phenomenon emerged – Bhangra. Rooted in the celebratory spirit of agrarian life, Bhangra music, with its infectious beats and lively melodies, has captivated hearts around the world. This blog invites you to explore the rhythmic journey of Bhangra music bands, unravelling the vibrant tapestry of sounds that define this energetic genre.
The Essence of Bhangra Music:
The Resonance of the Dhol:
At the core of Bhangra music lies the rhythmic heartbeat – the resounding beats of the dhol. This traditional Punjabi drum sets the pace for Bhangra, creating a lively and energetic foundation that invites listeners to feel the pulse of the music. The dhol, with its deep and powerful sound, becomes a driving force, urging dancers to move in sync with its rhythmic patterns.
Twangy Tunes of the Tumbi:
Complementing the robust beats of the dhol is the twangy and melodic sound of the tumbi. This single-stringed instrument adds a distinct flavor to Bhangra music, creating a playful and upbeat atmosphere. The tumbi's lively tunes intertwine with the rhythm of the dhol, forming a melodic partnership that characterises the genre.
Dynamic Dholak and Algoza:
Traditional Bhangra music often incorporates the dholak, a double-headed hand drum, and the algoza, a double-flute. These instruments contribute to the dynamic nature of Bhangra, introducing variations in tempo and adding layers to the overall sound. The dholak's intricate rhythms and the algoza's melodious notes enhance the complexity and depth of Bhangra music.
The Evolution of Bhangra Music Bands:
Heera Group: Pioneers of Fusion:
In the late 1970s, Heera Group, led by A.S. Kang, played a pioneering role in shaping the modern sound of Bhangra music. The band's fusion of traditional Punjabi elements with contemporary Western influences marked a significant evolution in the genre. Heera Group's experimentation with instruments like keyboards and synthesisers expanded the sonic palette of Bhangra, setting the stage for its global recognition.
Alaap: Blending Tradition and Innovation:
The 1980s saw the emergence of Alaap, a band that further pushed the boundaries of Bhangra music. Alaap's unique style involved blending traditional instruments with modern sounds, showcasing the genre's adaptability without losing its cultural roots. Their contributions influenced the evolution of Bhangra, introducing a new generation to the genre's dynamic melodies.
The Global Resonance of Bhangra Beats:
Diaspora and Cultural Expansion:
Bhangra's infectious rhythms travelled beyond the borders of Punjab through the Indian diaspora. As Punjabi communities settled in various parts of the world, they brought with them the vibrant sounds of Bhangra. Bhangra music bands formed in diaspora hubs became cultural ambassadors, spreading the joyous beats of Punjab to diverse audiences and expanding the genre's global footprint.
Mainstream Success:
Bhangra's rhythmic energy and celebratory spirit caught the attention of mainstream audiences, leading to its incorporation into the global music scene. Songs like "Mundian To Bach Ke" by Panjabi MC and collaborations with international artists propelled Bhangra into mainstream consciousness, making it a recognizable and celebrated genre worldwide.
Bhangra Fusion and Collaborations:
Bhangra's adaptability has resulted in numerous cross-cultural collaborations. Artists and Bhangra bands, recognizing the genre's ability to seamlessly integrate with various musical styles, have explored fusions with hip-hop, pop, electronic, and Latin music. These collaborations showcase Bhangra's versatility, making it a genre that transcends cultural boundaries and resonates with diverse audiences.

Preservation of Traditional Instruments:
Despite the infusion of modern elements, many Bhangra music bands recognize the importance of preserving traditional instruments. The dhol, tumbi, and dholak remain integral to the genre, ensuring a connection to the rich cultural heritage that defines Bhangra. This commitment to tradition adds authenticity to the evolving soundscape of Bhangra music.
Lyrics and Cultural Narratives:
Bhangra music often features lyrics that celebrate the vibrant culture of Punjab. Themes of love, joy, and the spirit of life are woven into the songs, contributing to the genre's narrative richness. Sung predominantly in Punjabi, the lyrics serve as a cultural identifier, reinforcing Bhangra's connection to its linguistic heritage.
