how smart would you say pangur is for a cat?

that's hard to answer!

to give a contrast, Grim is smart in the normal ways that cats are smart. she quickly learns words that are relevant to her ('treat', 'food', 'get up', 'let's go outside', 'come here') and is good at anticipating and reacting to scenarios.

Pangur is...............also smart in those ways. but she has a lack of basic cat instincts and a handful of neuroticism that make her seem like a damn fool. for instance, she will aggressively walk toward my parent's 120lb dog, while thinking she has a fighting chance.

so I'd say she's stupid in the same way that a honey badger is stupid
