BBC 0408 4 Sep 2024
12095Khz 0358 4 SEP 2024 - BBC (UNITED KINGDOM) in ENGLISH from TALATA VOLONONDRY. SINPO = 45333. English, dead carrier s/on @0358z then ID@0359z pips and newsday preview. @0401z World News anchored by David Harper. § A mother and her three daughters were among seven people killed in Ukraine's western city of Lviv, during a fresh wave of Russian attacks. A baby and another girl were also killed, officials said. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy said Russia had attacked with drones and hypersonic missiles early on Wednesday. The attack came as Ukraine reeled from Russia's deadliest single bombardment this year, a strike on a military institute in the central city of Poltava that left 53 people dead. § The lower house of Mexico’s Congress approved contentious legislation Wednesday that would launch the most sweeping judicial overhaul of the century by requiring all judges to stand for election. In a marathon session in which legislators were forced to meet in a gymnasium after protesters blocked the Congress building, the lower chamber approved the constitutional measure 359-135 in a party-line first vote. Mexico’s ruling party says judges in the current court system are corrupt, and wants the country’s entire judicial branch, some 7,000 judges, to stand for election. § A top New York state government aide secretly helped the Chinese government access an official call about Covid-19 while enjoying a lavish lifestyle as an undercover agent for Beijing, according to a US indictment. The side and her husband pleaded not guilty on Tuesday in a Brooklyn federal court to a range of charges, from failing to register as a foreign agent to visa fraud and money laundering. US law requires that individuals acting for or in the interests of foreign countries or political parties register as foreign agents. § Cannons boomed as Pope Francis joined Indonesian President Widodo on the veranda of the palace along with President-elect Prabowo Subianto. A marching band, stiff-legged troops and children in traditional Indonesian dress welcomed the first pope to visit in 35 years. § The US has charged Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and several other prominent figures in the Palestinian group in connection with its deadly attack in Israel on 7 October last year. The justice department said it was indicting six Hamas members with seven charges, including the murder of dozens of US citizens, conspiracy to finance terrorism and use of weapons of mass destruction. The criminal complaint covers decades of alleged attacks by Hamas, as well as last October's unprecedented assault. It is the first step by US law enforcement to hold accountable the ringleaders of that attack, but has been seen by analysts as partly symbolic, not least because some of those named in the indictment are already dead. § The U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee subpoenaed Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday, saying he had refused to appear before the panel to testify on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said Blinken had testified before Congress on Afghanistan more than 14 times, including four times before McCaul's committee. He also said the State Department has provided the committee with nearly 20,000 pages of department records, multiple high-level briefings and transcribed interviews. § UK conservationists on Wednesday announced a collaboration with e-commerce giant eBay to combat the illegal plant trade, which is threatening the existence of some species. @0406z "Newsday" begins. Backyard gutter antenna w/MFJ-1020C active antenna (used as a preamplifier/preselector), JRC NRD-535D, 250kW, beamAz 315°, bearing 63°. Maggie (and Ava)’s Past, Present, and Future!
Hello everyone and welcome back! Today I wanted to make a proper explanation for EVERYTHING I have involving Maggie as a theory. An alternative title is “The Maggie Masterpost” but I want to focus on her relationship with Ava since that has the most unanswered questions. So, let’s get into it!
Maggie and Ava: The Early Years
It’s shown many times that Ava and Maggie used to be really close, specifically through their drawers (panel 2248) and through the photo on the inside of Maggie’s cupboard (panel #0865). It’s also apparent that this was before Maggie became a host, as we can see from her eyes in panel #8065. I believe that Maggie and Ava used to be very close, and one of two things happened: A) Ava starts falling for Maggie and decided to confess, or B) Maggie realises that she’s begun falling for Ava and retreats into herself.
Tumblr media
There isn’t necessarily any outright evidence for Maggie or Ava being bi/pan, but for Maggie’s story, it’d make sense if she had struggled with feelings towards/from Ava and reacted by becoming mean, pushing people away to avoid confronting it. Internalised homophobia fits Maggie pretty well.
It would also play well into the fact that Ava blames herself for how Maggie’s become mean, since Ava knew her when she’d been nicer. In panels #1087 - #1088, Ava directly blames herself for Maggie’s unpleasantness.
“I mean it’s... it’s my fault she acts the way she does. / She wasn’t always this reckless and mean.”
Tumblr media
Knowing this, it takes us easily into our next section.
Maggie’s Death
[TW: Lots of suicide / noose mention in this section, skip to the next heading to avoid it.]
In the Death And Demon Theory (coming later this week, mentioned/recapped in this, this, and implied in this post), I firmly believe that every Host died at some point, and their soul’s joining with a demon brought them back to life. Gil was boiled alive before being found by TiTAN’s people (and seeing Nevy for the first time soon after), Odin died in a hunting accident with his father and has since been haunted by Pedri, and Ava was stillborn and got Wrathia earlier than the others because she drank the potion first.
But Maggie has always been a confusing spot, since we never had any clear indicators of her death, until...
Tumblr media
This comment on Some Unanswered Questions (which this post can be seen as a sequel/follow up to) has provided the answer. In every panel in Maggie’s mindscape, she’s in a very simple costume, with a strange green necklace that never quite made sense, even though it wasn’t necessarily out of place.
I agree with those theories Void mentioned; Though I technically don’t have the evidence to “prove” it, the necklace being a noose provides the missing evidence for so many of my theories that it can’t be a coincidence. Maggie killed herself (via noose) after her falling out with Ava, and this is where she became joined with Tuls.
In my last post about this (Some Unanswered Questions), I listed some mini theories at the bottom, one of which says Maggie probably made her pact quickly due to how casually she mentions failing it, as if she didn’t properly listen to the terms and conditions. Since Tuls’ magic is about gaining other people’s affection, I think this still plays into the internalised homophobia theory because she’s pushing herself onto every guy she meets in attempts so shut off this other part of herself.
Maggie and Erios: Predictions + Tying Things In
It has been established that Maggie will end up with Erios (the star host) many times through various means, and I’ll have another post soon analysing her relationship with Gil and Erios. For now though, my analysis of Panel #0358 recaps fairly well how/why we first predicted that Maggie would end up with Erios.
Tumblr media
Now that we know Erios is nobinary (and super over-the-top), we can also start to see how Maggie’s fairytale plays in.
For those of you who don’t know, every character in Ava’s Demon has a fairytale they parallel in some aspect of their major character arc, and Maggie’s is Beauty And The Beast. We’ve long predicted that this means she just wouldn’t be super attracted for Erios at first and she’d learn how love can be something that grows over time rather than being an impulse decision like with Gil, but combining Erios’ gender identity with Maggie’s (theorised) internal homophobia, I think this relationship is where Maggie not only learns to love for the person over their gender, but also learns to finally accept that side of herself and let her love finally be genuine and real.
Tumblr media
Bonus Notes
Erios’ fairytale has been confirmed to be Peter Pan in a recent stream from Michelle on their twitch. Based on their current personality (especially the way we meet them), they will likely be learning to be more mature and less obnoxious (no offense 😅) and that’ll help their relationship with Maggie bud more. Because I can almost 100% guarantee that Maggie will NOT get along with Erios whenever they meet if they’re both the same person they currently are.

It’s been about eight months or so since Justin Timberlake appeared in town, gracing the same American Airlines Center stage that he will again command Thursday night. Such is the magnitude of his star power. After all, there are very few artists who could return to the same scope and size of venue in such a short time. On that last appearance, JT took the sold-out crowd on a journey through his vast solo catalog of hits, enthralling the audience with his slinky dance moves, buttery smooth falsettos and charmingly, magnetic charisma. His shows also skew heavily toward the mom demographic. Much chardonnay will be sold and much is likely to be spilled as the gaggle of 30- and 40-something ladies will undoubtedly raise their glasses high in the air as they swoon and sway to his every move and note. If you’re there, feel free to join in. If you’re not in attendance, your social media feeds will keep you updated minute by minute. 8 p.m. Thursday, American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Ave., $49 and up at ticketmaster.com. Jeff Strowe
Toro y Moi, along with Neon Indian and Washed Out, was a forerunner of the chill wave movement about a decade ago. But, like many in the scene at that time, he’s moved on from the sound, as is evident in his new album, this year’s Outer Peace. One critic described the album as "new disco," while others label it as a funk album rooted in the present. 7 p.m. Thursday, Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave., sold out. Diamond Victoria
Friday
Ella is a girl with a dopey fairy godmother who “blesses” Ella with obedience, which means whatever anyone tells her to do, she does. Even worse, she ends up with a stepmother and stepsisters who know about her quirk and are happy to take advantage. Throw in a handsome prince and adventures with ogres and magic, and you have a twisty retelling of Cinderella. See a song-filled version of Gail Carson Levine’s Newbery-honored fractured fairy tale as the Dallas Children’s Theater stages Ella Enchanted: The Musical at 5938 Skillman St. Friday’s performance is at 7:30 p.m., and the show runs through Feb. 24. Tickets, $15-40, can be found at dct.org. Patrick Williams
Did you know that comedian Iliza Shlesinger got her start here in Dallas? You didn’t? How dare you call yourself a resident! Shlesinger was born in New York, but she grew up in Dallas and took her first steps onstage as an improv comedian before heading off to college and a lucrative stand-up comedy career. She returns to her homeland for a show at The Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St., at 7 p.m. Friday. Shlesinger cut her teeth in stand-up at The Hollywood Improv and quickly caught on with her unique take and skill. She found fame as the first female comedian to win the NBC reality competition Last Comic Standing and began regularly touring theaters across the country and the world. Tickets are between $32 and $209 depending on available seating and can be purchased at theatredallas.com. Danny Gallagher
There is a story behind Amaluna, the Cirque du Soleil show making a stop at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, 1000 Lone Star Parkway. Here goes: Queen Prospera rules over a magical island populated by all women until a group of men wash ashore shipwrecked. Her daughter … OK, look. It’s Cirque du Soleil. You know, lots of brightly colored leotards and amazing acrobats dangling from straps above the audience, flying through the air launched from seesaws to the sound of mildly weird new-agey music. There are two shows Friday, at 4:30 and 8 p.m. Adult ticket prices start at $63, with discounts for children, and an assortment of special packages are available at cirquedusoleil.com. The circus continues with shows until March 3. Patrick Williams
As do many institutions at their silver anniversary, sports-talk station KTCK-AM 1310 and 96.7 FM “The Ticket” is getting nostalgic for the 25th iteration of its signature P1 fan festival. Along with celebrity guests Troy Aikman, Jay Novacek and Daryl “Razor” Reaugh, Ticketstock 25 has a Ticket Time Tunnel, where Tier One hosts discuss the history of the station in panel discussions, and there’s an interactive Ticket Hall of Fame with memorabilia, audio, Marconi Awards and retro Ticket merch. As usual, the Timewasters will perform Saturday at 6 p.m., this year from a greatest-hits set list, with Fox 4 sports anchor Mike Doocy — the ultimate good sport and straight guy during his frequent guest-hosting appearances — as emcee. Ticketstock 25 is Friday and Saturday at the Plano Event Center, 2000 E. Spring Creek Parkway. Doors open at noon both days and admission is free. Visit theticket.com for the full schedule of on-air roundtables and gotta-be-there-to-hear-’em Ticket Time Tunnel panels. Jesse Hughey
In the sage words of the world’s pre-eminent British girl band: spice up your life. Winter doldrums be damned, things are getting hot at ZestFest Jan. 25-27 at the Irving Convention Center, 500 W. Las Colinas Blvd. This three-day celebration of all things bold and piquant is packed with cooking demonstrations; celebrity chefs like Jon Bonnell, Eddie Deen and MasterChef champ Shaun O’Neale; gourmet vendors to help you level up in your own kitchen; live music; plus food samples and beer tastings aplenty. For those of us with stomachs of steel and something to prove, there’s a jalapeño-eating challenge and the annual “Atomic Wing” contest. Pack your antacid and plan a full day on Friday from 1 to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is $15 at the door, though kids 10 and under get in free. Creator and headliner of last year’s inaugural I Am Dallas Hip Hop event, Mozez Tha Great performs his long-awaited EP Undefined in its entirety as part of a stacked bill at The Prophet Bar on Friday night. Mozez has gone through his fair share of setbacks over the years regarding his music career. A few years ago, Undefined was ready for release, but when an engineer who was commissioned to mix and master the album took off with Mozez’s money, its completion got delayed. Catch Mozez along with several other of Dallas’ best up-and-coming hip-hop artists. With Lou Charle$, Mokah Soulfly, Smoothvega, Drama Tha King and Raw Elementz, 8:30 p.m. Friday, The Prophet Bar, 2548 Elm St., $10. Diamond Victoria
Thursday is on a small run of dates where they play two of their classic LPs, Full Collapse and War All the Time, front to back. Though they have a rather extensive back catalog, these are the two records that changed their fortunes and gained a huge audience. The first night — Friday night — is devoted to Full Collapse, the record that broke the band out of the New Jersey scene and into the national spotlight. The next night is devoted to War All the Time, the major-label debut that brought the band to larger acclaim. Normally shows like these happen in New York, LA or Chicago, so Dallas is very lucky to have these dates. Thursday is not really an active band as compared with the 2000s, so you should strongly consider going if you’ve never seen this powerful and legendary band before. 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26 at Trees, 2709 Elm St., $29-$36 at ticketfly.com. Eric Grubbs
Saturday
Sport is “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment,” according to the Google search we just did. By that definition, cheerleading is 100 percent, no doubt in anyone’s mind, a sport. Backflips are physical. Somersaults must be learned and perfected. And competitive cheerleaders, well, compete. See them do that Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27 at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas, 650 S. Griffin St at National Cheerleaders Association National Championships. Tickets start at $20 at eventbrite.com. Paige Skinner
Finnish vocal ensemble Rajaton joins the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the music of megastar pop group Abba, who are enjoying a much deserved critical reconsideration. Expect orchestral renditions that shine new light on the Swedish artists’ soaring, emotionally raw classics, including “Mamma Mia,” “Waterloo,” “Dancing Queen” and more. There are three performances: at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27. All performances take place at the Meyerson, 2301 Flora St. Tickets start at $20. The Boy Who Would Be Captain Hook is a funny and moving play about a boy who was born without a right hand. When doctors fitted him with a prosthetic hook, he was sidelined at recess until the other kids asked to play Peter Pan with him. Of course, he played Captain Hook — until he grew tired of it. The Boy Who Would Be Captain Hook takes a look at David Harrell’s childhood living with a disability as he tells the story of how he wished to change his own narrative and not be just the boy with a hook. The play is at 3 p.m. Saturday at Charles W. Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive, Richardson. Visit eisemanncenter.com for more information and tickets ($25). Paige Skinner

The radio station has brought blues a long way over the years and shows no sign of stopping. The festival will be held at Poor David’s Pub, where blues has been put on display in Dallas for over 40 years. Keeping up with what is seemingly a festival tradition, Dickey’s Barbecue will be available for $10 a plate. 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27 at Poor David’s Pub, 1313 Lamar St., $20-$150 at eventbrite.com. Blake Ward is one of the busiest DJs in Dallas, with four different weekly events and recently having taken up the management of his new Four Four Booking agency. The Disney empire is a vast, all-encompassing thing. They’re the masters of the Ice Capades, one of the biggest names in Broadway and have a virtual lock on the kids pajama market. Now, their reach expands to the world of a cappella singing. Yep, the domain once reserved for Ivy League a-holes in striped jackets is now replete with mouse ears: meet DCappella, Disney Music’s a cappella super group. Assembled by Deke Sharon, who’s like the Lou Pearlman of the a cappella world, these seven men and women don’t need backing instruments. It’s just their sweet, sweet voices and sculpted eyebrows up onstage, belting out all your favorite Disney tunes at Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie, 1001 Performance Place, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30. Tickets to see the Disney-fied vocal acrobatics are $19.50 to $54.50 at axs.com. Jennifer Davis-Lamm
In Incognito, playwright Nick Payne tells three different stories to better explore the human mind. One is about Thomas Stoltz Harvey stealing the recently dead Albert Einstein’s brain. See the play Jan. 30 through Feb. 23 at Bryant Hall, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets start $25 at secondthoughttheatre.com. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Paige Skinner

Finally Revealed Secrets of Scientists --- Scientists have potentially discovered a way to stop genetic diseases from being spread to future generations. They did so by altering the DNA in gremlin cells like sperm, embryos, eggs, and cells. They plan to only use their new method to correct disabilities or diseases and not to improve or enhance a human’s ability or state of health. Their finding is revolutionary for the future of healthcare around the world. A scientific panel in the U.S. has endorsed the genetic modification of human embryos only in order to prevent genetic diseases and disabilities The London Science Museum has opened an exhibit featuring hundreds of years of robots, including one created around the year 1560.A new exhibit traces five-hundred years of robotic development, from early clockwork-automation - such as the impressive Silver Swann from 1773- to interactive droids. The show features over 100 robots, including some which earn their living by working. Just like their development the definition of 'robot' has evolved over the centuries. The exhibit features a 244-year-old animatronic swan and a robot that sings opera. In its major exhibition for 2017, the Science Museum has unearthed some of the most bizarre and complex robots created by mankind. Running from February 8 to September 3, the Robots Exhibition (costing £15 for adults, £13 for concessions, and free for under 7s) explores 500 years of robotics. Within the collection are news-reading, theatrical-performing bots, an ancient robotic monk and the latest humanoids sporting artificial intelligence. New Evidence!! (Maggie and Star Host Connection)
MC finally released an update on the progress of the comic’s next update and the reason for delay, and with it, we have two new shots to analyze! It also provides a good opportunity for me to review one of the “common knowledge” theories of the fandom for those of you who are new. (I might make a separate post later with a summarization, to the best of my abilities, of all the theories we currently accept as canon as a fandom.) So, let’s get into it.
RECAP: MAGGIE’S FAIRYTALE
For those of you who don’t know, every main character (specifically, each host) has a fairytale that MC has confirmed will parallel their story. I’ll go into the others in another post, but for now we’re focusing on Maggie’s: The Beauty and The Beast. Maggie’s story will take her away from Gil and towards a new character, who will help her through her fear of a real relationship (which has manifested in her shallow tastes in people) and eventually show her what it means to love. It is my personal belief, as a veteran AD theorist, that Ava is the reason Maggie is all guarded and shallow, as they were probably each other’s first loves (or just first really close relationship, even if it was platonic) and things ended badly, resulting in Maggie becoming closed off.
Tumblr media
Above we have panel #0358, which is the premise for a lot of theories in this fandom. In this post, I wanted to bring it back to remind everyone the evidence for many theories that are just “common knowledge” these days, i.e. Maggie ending up with Star Host specifically. The panel above is when Gil is making him and Maggie tea, and her cup has a teabag with a green triangle (symbolic of Maggie) and a yellow star (symbolic of Erios, the star host) combined, which has been the basis for a lot of theorists even before analyzing the BaTB connections. Combining the fairytale and this panel though, we can conclude that Maggie will end up in some sort of relationship with Erios very soon and, over time, will fall for them for their personality regardless of their looks.
[Note 1: Star Host’s pronouns have been confirmed to be they/them.
Note 2: We know Erios’ name from snacks on the ship translated to be wishing ‘Erios’ a happy birthday, I believe.]
ANALYSIS TIME!!
Image One:
Tumblr media
First impressions:
This is definitely the star host based on the star shaped helmet and the guitar, which matches that of the Star Host’s silhouette on the cast page.
No other clear geometric shapes (or even vague ones) except for the notable pink triangle buttons on the front of the coat.
“tube”-like patterns on neck and torso resemble that of a high-up TiTAN follower but maybe they’re an escaped follower? Coincidences don’t happen in AD and there’s no way this character’s a devout follower based on their outfit
Triangles are also very prominent everywhere in the background of this shot, which I have a mini-theory about later in this post
Image Two:
Tumblr media
First Impressions:
More triangles present in background
Paradise-eqsue feel to the scenery (this was present in the first image as well, it’s just more visible here)
Five new (background) characters; We know they aren’t mains because none of them (silhouette or shape-symbols) match with unidentified cast characters
New bg characters also have triangle themes (in a lot of ways)
In this post I mostly just wanted to share my thoughts/impressions on the panels and point out some imagery things for them, but I do have a minor theory that I’d like to share.
THEORY: ERIOS’S LOVE OF MAGGIE
One of the curious things about the BaTB story paralleling with Maggie is that in the fairytale, the Beast needs Belle to fall in love with him for his personality in order to break the spell put on him and his castle. While I don’t believe Erios is under any sort of spell, I’ve been looking for something to explain a need (or reason) for Erios to become close to (or obsessed with?) Maggie in the first place. These images helped.
I believe that, for some reason, Erios and the fellow people on this planet are awaiting fulfillment of some sort of religious prophecy (?) involving a girl with strong ties to triangles. Everything on this planet, from what we’ve seen, is centred around the triangle. Why would that be the case if Erios, the character of this planet, is the star host? Because they’re awaiting the arrival of their foretold love. The background characters’ designs also imply that Erios is in some position of leadership on this planet, as they seem to be an exception to the triangle basis of character design. All the other characters also seem to merge better with the scenery of the planet than Erios, which means that they are either above conforming to the norm (which is what I’m leaning towards) or maybe they’re from another planet.
There isn’t much to base this theory off of but there’s something to the fact that the planet and new bg characters are created around the triangle, and the setting design does imply a paradise (utopian.dystopian possibly) vibe to the planet, which means a “prophecy” is not out of the question. Especially not when Odin’s planet had mythology about Wrathia and Nevy (and minorly Pedri and Tuls too).

Quick thing about our crescent girl
If she is in fact working for/with (?) TiTAN, that plus the honeycomb imagery can bring us back to #0358, which is probably the most referenced panel in all of Ava’s Demon.
Tumblr media
Iris Farms produce honey, and since they’re a TiTAN cooperation, they’re probably linked to Crescent host (possibly Veevra.)
And also to add onto the whole ‘honey’ ‘bee’ thing we have going; This guy (far right in the image below) is who I’m speculating to be her Demon, and wouldn’t you have it, they both seem pretty insect-y.
Tumblr media
Based on the links show above, courtesy of @avas-poltergeist, he will definitely be linked to the yellow/grey crystal vial. Even if he doesn’t end up being for Vee, or if Veevra ends up being a separate character from Crescent Host, I definitely think that vial pairing is correct.

Panel #0358
Because apparently there’s more in this panel-
Tumblr media
This panel [#0358] has been dissected a lot for having the triangle-star combination eluding to Maggie’s endgame (haha) being Erios instead of Gil, but I haven’t seen this next part mentioned yet.
We already have discussed that Gil will fall for Odin but ultimately have his feelings rejected, as is the plot of the original Little Mermaid, which Gil has confirmed to parallel.
In this panel, Gil is making tea for Maggie and himself. In his tea’s symbol, it shows a purple square. The colour and shape that represent Odin, and, to dissect even further, the square is alone. Maggie’s tea has her symbol with Erios’ because they end up together. Gil falling for Odin was predicted long before we even realised how much foreshadowing and symbolism there is in this comic.
