I love spending time at the @metmuseum. I would often spend an entire day in it, just walking and allowing every object and artefact to wash into my consciousness and hopefully surface as something in my work in the future. An object that I was very drawn to are these social distancing signs that I regard of as a part of the ecology of the museum; an sign of the times. I took a photograph of it with my iPhone 11 and am planning to use it within a solo show that I’m working on with @rohprojects in Jakarta that will open in December this year. I have absolutely no idea how I’ll use it but I’m sure it’ll come to me (hopefully sometime soon). The show’s about many of the things that I often think about; collections of things, spaces of knowledge, communications and misunderstandings… stuff. Working a lot these days in preparation for a couple of solos that will open this year and the next. Looking forward to a month of walking in Seoul in September after a week of hustling during Frieze. Terribly jetlagged. It’s 7:06 am and I’ve been up all night, my mind spinning at both ends, thinking up new works. After all this time, I’ve now tested positive for Covid. Really sad to say that I won’t be able to be at R.A.P. Party tonight, but dressed up at home to record my new poem written especially for tonight for this south London special, so my words will still be heard 🙏🏼 It’s taken me some time to process this and the impact it’s having, especially after a challenging festival and mice in my bedroom… but I’m also trying to be grateful. Sore throats always worry me due to a past illness, but this symptom is slowly lifting! I’m glad I’ve had the vaccine as I’m feeling pretty awful as it is and my blood oxygen level dropped below my normal range last night/today. I didn’t have any of the typical Covid symptoms, aside from a little more coughing today. Otherwise, it’s been a sore throat (that I assumed was from reading aloud a lot then worsened by screaming along at FFAF) and fatigue (which I assumed was due to the festival as I can’t really remember the last time I had energy…). When my nose felt blocked and I lost my appetite, that’s when I became more concerned. Aside from listening to music and podcasts, and watching things, I find it difficult to know what other forms of rest or low-key activities I can do without moving too fast too soon, so please feel free to advise.
