Sidekick Gals 9

I must confess to not knowing much about Panchita, a sidekick of Captain Easy, Soldier of Fortune. Easy was the creation of writer and illustrator Roy Crane and appeared in weekly syndicated Sunday newspaper comic strips as well as eventually being awarded his own title. Easy’s first “solo” appearance was in 1933 and the character and title ran right up until 1970, under a host of different writers and illustrators. Easy was an all-American adventurer, getting involved in everything from espionage to treasure hunting. Easy had any number of female sidekicks, usually with imaginative names such as Holly, Honey or Penny. Panchita, who is featured in the panels above in a south-of-the-border romp, is a little different, in that she is Latina, and also seems to actually do something to help Easy out rather than wait to be rescued or admire our hero’s muscles.

However, in truth, Panchita sadly remains something of a cipher and, like so many of Easy’s other female companions seems to have been a one-off. There was potential for something more interesting perhaps, but Panchita ends up being one of the less interesting sidekick gals of the Golden Age.

Panchita Tunnel, Galápagos, Ecuador: Panchita Tunnel is an intriguing lava tube/cave on Rancho Primicias next to El Chato Tortoise Reserve, in the highlands near Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, in the Galápagos archipelago, Ecuador, South America. As you descend into the tunnels via stairs, you quickly lose sight of the sun and enter the darkness. Even though they have lights hung throughout. you still have limited visibility.

A Galapagos sea lion named Panchita was caught up in a net, which left deep cuts all over her body. She managed to get away and make it to this hotel, where animal advocates lovingly nursed her back to health for three months.

A special bond was formed between Panchita and her rescuers. After she was fully healed, Panchita was released back to her natural habitat in the wild. But every day she returns to visit the humans who rescued her after being out at sea all day. She spends time with her rescuers and takes a peaceful, afternoon nap on her special chair. Then she'll return to the sea, and her rescuers know she'll be back to visit them the next day.

CARA!! Outro dia mesmo eu tava pensando e conversando com outra pessoa sobre genderbend dos Caballeros 😭Olha eu fiz um desenho rapidinho porque fica mais fácil mostrar do que descrever.

Eu fiz elas bem femininas mas eu imagino que principalmente Donald e José se vestiriam de formas consideradas mais masculinas também. Por exemplo, um modelo alternativo pro Donald incluiriam calças, talvez no estilo Swing. Pro Panchito um traje charro completo mas versão feminina e pro José o terno completo de malandro e o cabelo curto. Em questão de nomes eu iria com Donna, Panchita (Francisca) e Maria José, porque eu acho que Maria transmite melhor o quão comum José é como nome e as piadinhas tipo "José/Maria ninguém" não se perdem. Outros fatores que são puramente gosto pessoal incluem:

Maria Navalha é comum pra descrever mulheres malandras,

Ela continua tendo José no nome e pode ter apelidos tipo Zézinha e Marizé.

Who appears the most in Donald Duck In Old California?

Whilst I am pretty sure I own Vacation Time I don't know where it is, just like Only a Poor Old Man. So I skipped that one in my series of counting every story in the top 100!

As always there are spoilers for the story!

Donald's percentage here is the second highest percentage of any character I've calculated yet, only being beaten by Scrooge in Back to the Klondike!

This story is usually listed as being led by Donald, although interestingly enough the Danish book I own it in is a specific HDL book! I do agree that this is more of a Donald story than a HDL story, although I didn't reread it for this so you should maybe take this opinion with a grain of salt!
