The origin story in the Hindu theology
At the very beginning there was nothing. This "nothing" is not just nothing. It is something that the mind cannot comprehend through its senses. Let's refer to it as the “Brahman”. In that very beginning Brahman was in a dormant state or sleeping state (imagine it as the dormant Shiva). Some kind of energy (Shakti) came in contact with it which changed its state to 'active' filled with tremendous energy (imagine this state as the divine dance of Shiva & Shakti shown below).
The divine dance of Shiva & Shakti
Brahman is an ocean of that substance but confined to a single point (the sleeping Vishnu's navel). The energy of Shiva combined with Shakti was infinite and unstable. This instability led to an explosion of some kind. It's not a physical explosion of matter, but a different kind represented through the sound OM. This explosion led to the creation of the panchabhuta, that is akasha (space time), prithvi (solid matter), jal (liquid matter), vayu (gaseous matter), agni (heat energy). This phenomenon can be perceived as the creation of Brahma, coming out of Vishnu's navel, and after Brahma came into being he created the panchabhutas, as shown below.
Creation of Brahma from the navel of Vishnu
These panchabhutas interacted with each other and hence the journey of existence began. From just these basic five elements it started a process of creation of complex structures such as elements, nebulas, stars, planets, galaxies, oceans, trees, stones, microbes, animals, humans and many more.

Vastu Shastra: The Ancient Science of Architecture and Its Relevance Today
Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian science that has been passed down for centuries. It integrates principles of architecture, space arrangement, and energy flow to create harmonious living environments. This age-old knowledge, deeply rooted in Indian culture, remains relevant today as people increasingly seek balance, health, and prosperity in their living spaces. The practice of Vastu Shastra is not only for homes but also for offices, temples, gardens, and even entire towns.
In this article, we will explore what Vastu Shastra is, its origins, fundamental principles, and how applying its guidelines can positively affect various aspects of your life.
What is Vastu Shastra?
The word "Vastu" comes from the Sanskrit term "Vas," meaning to live or dwell. "Shastra" refers to science or knowledge. Hence, Vastu Shastra translates to the "science of living" or "the science of dwelling."
Vastu Shastra is based on the belief that the universe is made up of five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space, which are known as the "Panchabhutas." These elements interact with the human body and the environment, creating an energy field. Vastu helps to balance these energies to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of the inhabitants.
This science primarily focuses on ensuring that the structure of a building and its interior design align with the natural energy fields. It is believed that a well-designed space according to Vastu principles will promote happiness, health, and prosperity.
Historical Background
The origins of Vastu Shastra date back to around 5000 BCE, with its roots in the Vedic texts. It is believed to have been used by ancient Indian architects and builders who constructed palaces, temples, and entire cities. The ancient scriptures like the Rigveda, Atharvaveda, and the "Manasara," a classical treatise on architecture, offer extensive guidelines on Vastu. Ancient structures like the temples of South India, as well as the grand cities like Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, exhibit strong adherence to Vastu principles.
Over time, these practices evolved into a systematic architectural science. Many rulers, particularly during the Gupta and Maurya periods, commissioned buildings based on Vastu principles to enhance prosperity and well-being. Today, Vastu continues to be practiced worldwide, influencing the way homes, offices, and public spaces are designed.
The Five Elements of Vastu
One of the key aspects of Vastu Shastra is understanding how the five elements (Panchabhutas) interact with space:
1. Earth (Prithvi): Earth is considered the most powerful of all elements. It influences human lives and energy in the space we inhabit. The location of the plot, its soil quality, and its alignment with the cardinal directions play a crucial role in Vastu.
2. Water (Jal): Water is a symbol of abundance and life. In Vastu, it is related to prosperity. The placement of water bodies such as lakes, rivers, or even water features within the home can affect energy flow and vitality.
3. Fire (Agni): Fire represents light, heat, and energy. The fire element governs aspects related to health and wealth. Vastu principles dictate that fire elements, including kitchens and sources of heat, should be placed in the southeast direction for optimal benefits.
4. Air (Vayu): Air signifies movement and growth. Proper ventilation and air circulation in a home are vital according to Vastu. Windows and open spaces in the home should be strategically placed to ensure the flow of positive energy.
5. Space (Akasha): Space is considered the most essential element as it represents the infinite. The arrangement of rooms and open spaces within a building is crucial to ensure balance and harmony with the universe.
The Directions in Vastu Shastra
In Vastu, each direction is associated with specific elements and influences. A building’s orientation is critical for channeling positive energies.
- North (Kubera's Direction): The north is ruled by Kubera, the god of wealth. It is linked to prosperity and is often recommended for entrances or placing valuables.
- South (Yama's Direction): The south direction is governed by Yama, the god of death. While it may seem ominous, it is often associated with stability and long-term success when used correctly.
- East (Indra's Direction): The east is associated with Indra, the king of gods, and symbolizes enlightenment, health, and prosperity. The main entrance of a house facing east is considered very auspicious.
- West (Varuna's Direction): The west, ruled by Varuna, the god of water, is connected to the emotional well-being of the family. It is ideal for dining rooms, studies, and children’s rooms.
Key Vastu Principles for Homes
While Vastu Shastra can be applied to all kinds of buildings, homes are where its effects are most keenly felt. Here are some basic Vastu guidelines for different parts of the home:
1. Main Entrance
The main entrance of the house is considered the entry point for energy. The direction it faces is very important. An east or north-facing entrance is generally considered favorable. The entrance should be well-lit, and clutter should be avoided to allow free flow of positive energy.
2. Living Room
The living room should be located in the north, east, or northeast direction of the house. Furniture should be placed against the south or west walls, and the seating should face north or east to encourage openness and positive interactions.
3. Kitchen
According to Vastu Shastra, the kitchen represents the fire element and should be located in the southeast direction of the home. The cook should ideally face east while cooking, as it is believed to bring positive energy and good health to the family.
4. Bedroom
The master bedroom should be in the southwest part of the house, as this direction is associated with stability. The bed should not face the entrance, and mirrors should be avoided in the bedroom as they are believed to reflect negative energy.
5. Bathrooms
Bathrooms should ideally be placed in the northwest corner of the house. It is important to keep them clean and ensure that they have proper ventilation, as they are considered areas where negative energy can accumulate.
6. Pooja Room
The pooja (prayer) room should be in the northeast part of the house. This is considered the most sacred and spiritually uplifting area of the home.
Benefits of Vastu Shastra
1. Enhanced Well-being: When a home or office is aligned with Vastu principles, it is believed that the occupants experience better health, reduced stress, and greater peace of mind. This is because the energies of the living space are harmonized with natural elements.
2. Financial Prosperity: Vastu helps in attracting wealth and financial success by balancing energy fields in the home. For example, placing a money plant in the north direction can increase wealth.
3. Career Growth: Vastu Shastra provides specific guidelines for workplaces, helping individuals make progress in their careers. For example, the desk in a home office should be positioned facing north or east to promote focus and productivity.
4. Better Relationships: Relationships between family members, friends, and colleagues can improve when living or working in a Vastu-compliant environment. This is because positive energy flow reduces conflicts and promotes harmony.
5. Spiritual Growth: Vastu Shastra encourages a deeper connection to the spiritual aspects of life by creating spaces conducive to meditation, reflection, and personal growth.
Vastu for Modern Homes
While Vastu Shastra is an ancient science, it remains relevant even in today’s modern world. Many architects and interior designers incorporate Vastu principles into their designs without compromising modern aesthetics.
For instance, contemporary homes can integrate Vastu recommendations for energy flow and natural lighting without having to adhere strictly to ancient layouts. Vastu does not need to conflict with modern conveniences like air conditioning, technology, or contemporary design trends.
Conclusion
Vastu Shastra is an enduring science that provides timeless guidance for creating harmonious living and working environments. By aligning with the natural elements and the directions, individuals can experience greater well-being, prosperity, and spiritual growth. Whether you're building a new home or renovating an old one, applying Vastu principles can offer a balanced and harmonious life.
As you explore Vastu Shastra further, you’ll find that it provides a wealth of knowledge on how to harness the natural energies around you for a more prosperous, healthy, and peaceful existence.

Vastu and Interior Design: Creating Balanced Spaces
Vastu Shastra, the ancient Indian science of architecture and design, emphasizes creating living spaces that harmonize with natural elements and universal energies. Integrating Vastu principles with modern interior design can transform your home into a sanctuary of balance and positive energy. Here are some essential tips for incorporating Vastu for home plans into your interior design to create balanced and harmonious spaces.
Understanding Vastu and Its Importance
Vastu Shastra is based on the five elements (Panchabhutas): Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space. These elements are believed to influence human life and the environment. The correct balance and orientation of these elements in a structure can bring peace, prosperity, and well-being. Incorporating Vastu principles into your home plan ensures that the living environment aligns with natural forces, enhancing overall harmony.
Main Entrance and Foyer
The main entrance is crucial in Vastu Shastra, as it is the primary entry point for energy. It should be well-lit, clean, and free of obstacles. Ideally, the entrance should face north, northeast, or east. Incorporating a foyer or entrance hall can help create a smooth transition from the outside world into the home. Use auspicious symbols, such as a Swastik or Om, and ensure the area is inviting and clutter-free.
Living Room
The living room is a social space where family members and guests gather. According to Vastu for home plans, it should be located in the northeast, north, or east part of the house. Arrange furniture to encourage free movement and energy flow. Heavy furniture should be placed in the south or west, while lighter pieces can be in the north or east. Use bright, cheerful colors and avoid clutter to maintain a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Incorporate elements like indoor plants and soft lighting to enhance the positive energy in the room.
Kitchen
The kitchen represents the fire element and plays a significant role in a home’s health and prosperity. The ideal location for the kitchen is the southeast corner. If this is not possible, the northwest is the second-best option. The cooking stove should be positioned so that the cook faces east while preparing meals. This orientation is believed to bring health and prosperity. Use natural materials like wood and stone for furnishings and utensils, and maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen.
Bedroom
A well-positioned bedroom promotes restful sleep and rejuvenation. The master bedroom should be in the southwest corner of the house to ensure stability and good health. The bed should be placed in the southwest corner of the room, with the head facing south or east. Avoid placing mirrors directly opposite the bed, as this can lead to disturbed sleep. Use soothing, neutral colors and keep the bedroom free of electronic devices to create a calm and restful environment.
Bathroom
Bathrooms and toilets should be located in the northwest or southeast corners of the house. Avoid placing them in the northeast, southwest, or center, as this can lead to health issues and financial instability. Ensure that bathrooms are well-ventilated and kept clean. Using Vastu pyramids or sea salt bowls in bathrooms can help neutralize negative energies.
Pooja Room
The pooja room or prayer area is a sacred space that should be located in the northeast corner of the house, the direction associated with the divine. The idols and images of deities should face west or south, while the person praying should face east or north. Keep the pooja room clean and clutter-free, and use natural materials like wood or stone for the altar.
Colors and Lighting
Colors play a significant role in Vastu Shastra. Use light, soothing colors like white, cream, or light blue for walls and furnishings to create a peaceful environment. Avoid using dark or bright colors excessively, as they can create an imbalance in energy. Adequate lighting is also essential; ensure that all areas of the house are well-lit, especially the main entrance, living room, and kitchen.
Decluttering and Organization
Clutter can block the flow of positive energy and create chaos. Regularly declutter and organize your home to maintain a harmonious atmosphere. Pay special attention to the northeast corner, which should always be clean and free of heavy objects. Storage areas should be in the south or west, keeping the north and east open and light.
Incorporating Natural Elements
Incorporating natural elements can enhance positive energy in your home. Place indoor plants in the east, north, or northeast corners to attract prosperity and health. A small water fountain or aquarium in the northeast corner can also bring good fortune. However, avoid placing water elements in the bedroom or near the main entrance.
By integrating Vastu principles into your interior design, you can create a balanced and harmonious home that promotes well-being, prosperity, and happiness. For personalized advice and more detailed analysis, consulting a Vastu expert can be beneficial. Applying Vastu for home plans can transform your living space into a sanctuary of positive energy and balance.

This incorporates the utilization of varieties, images, and protests to adjust the energy inside a space.
Investigates and Impediments of Vastu:
While Vastu has a rich history and remains well known in many pieces of India, it is critical to take note that its standards are not experimentally demonstrated, and there are a few evaluates and impediments related to it:
Absence of Logical Proof: Vastu needs observational logical proof to help its cases. There is no substantial logical reason for the possibility that adjusting a structure to explicit bearings, components, and room situations can straightforwardly influence the prosperity or success of its tenants, complete marriage prediction.
Social and Local Varieties: Vastu standards can change by district and culture, making it trying to lay out a general arrangement of rules. What is viewed as favorable in one district might be thought of as unpropitious in another.
Building Requirements: Following severe Vastu, standards may not generally be possible because of engineering limitations, like the shape and size of a plot or the current design of a structure. This can cause difficulties in carrying out Vastu rules.
Subjectivity: The understanding of Vastu standards can be abstract, and various specialists might offer shifting counsel on a similar space. This subjectivity can prompt disarray and irregularity in its application marriage prediction free.
Overemphasis on Notion: At times, the unbending adherence to Vastu standards can prompt notion and dread, as individuals might keep away from specific bearings or activities dependent exclusively upon Vastu suggestions.
Conclusion:
Vastu is an old building and plan framework with profound roots in Indian culture and reasoning. It depends on the conviction that the arrangement of a structure or space with grandiose energies and regular components can significantly influence the prosperity and thriving of its tenants. While Vastu has serious areas of strength and verifiable importance and stays well known in many pieces of India, moving toward it with a basic perspective is significant. Understanding and Balancing the Five Elements in Vastu Shastra
Introduction
Vastu Shastra, an ancient Indian architectural philosophy rooted in the principles of harmony, introduces us to the concept of the Panchabhutas, or the five elements. These elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space—form the core of Vastu principles and contribute to the overall energy flow within a living space. In this exploration, we'll unravel the significance of each element and guide you through practical steps to balance them effectively in your home.
The Significance of the Five Elements
Vastu Shastra views the universe as a composition of these five fundamental elements, each carrying unique attributes and energies. Understanding their significance is pivotal to creating a balanced and positive environment in your living space.
Earth Element (Prithvi)
The Earth element, symbolizing stability and strength, forms the foundation of Vastu principles. Incorporating this element into your home involves a thoughtful selection of materials and colors. Opt for earthy tones like browns and greens, and integrate materials such as clay and stone. This provides a solid grounding, promoting stability and a sense of security within your living space.
Water Element (Jal)
Water, representing flow and flexibility, brings a dynamic energy to a space. Introducing water features or symbols, such as a small fountain or a fish tank, can enhance positive energy. However, careful consideration of placement is crucial to prevent imbalance. The gentle sound of flowing water can create a soothing atmosphere while maintaining the fluidity associated with the Water element.
Fire Element (Agni)
Fire is synonymous with transformation and energy. In Vastu Shastra, the Fire element is harnessed through the use of warm colors, candles, or even a fireplace. These elements infuse a space with vitality and warmth. It's essential, however, to exercise moderation to prevent overwhelming the energy within a room. A well-balanced representation of the Fire element contributes to a vibrant and lively atmosphere.
Air Element (Vayu)
The Air element symbolizes movement and freshness, emphasizing the importance of proper ventilation within a living space. Enhance the Air element by allowing natural air circulation. Choose light fabrics for curtains and upholstery to create an atmosphere of lightness and freshness. Incorporating open spaces in the design further encourages the free flow of energy, fostering a harmonious environment.
Space Element (Akasha)
The Space element is about openness and expansiveness. Creating clutter-free areas and considering open designs allow energy to flow freely. The absence of physical clutter contributes to mental clarity and a sense of spaciousness. Embracing the Space element in your home design promotes a tranquil and unobstructed environment.
Balancing the Five Elements in Your Home
Achieving balance among the five elements within your living space is essential for overall well-being. Let's explore practical steps to harmonize these elements effectively:
Assess Each Room: Begin by assessing the predominant elements in each room. Consider the function of the space and ensure a mix of elements that align with its purpose.
Integrate Elements Thoughtfully: Mindfully incorporate elements in your decor. For instance, if a room lacks the Earth element, consider adding potted plants or wooden furniture to introduce grounding energy.
Use Colors Wisely: Colors have a profound impact on energy. Experiment with hues associated with each element. Earthy tones contribute to stability, blues evoke calmness, reds infuse energy, greens promote balance, and whites create an open and airy feel.
Enhance Natural Light: Maximize natural light within your home to embrace the Fire and Air elements. Remove heavy curtains and allow sunlight to fill your rooms. This not only energizes the space but also promotes a sense of positivity.
Declutter Spaces: The Space element thrives in uncluttered areas. Regularly declutter rooms to create a sense of openness. Minimalism can be a powerful tool in fostering a tranquil and spacious atmosphere.
Incorporate Symbols: Symbols associated with each element can be strategically placed to enhance their influence. Consider a small indoor fountain for the Water element, a well-placed candle for Fire, and wind chimes for Air. These subtle additions can contribute to a harmonious energy balance.
Seek Professional Guidance: If achieving balance seems challenging, don't hesitate to consult a Vastu expert. Their expertise can provide personalized insights tailored to your specific home and circumstances. Professional guidance ensures a more nuanced and effective approach to balancing the elements.
Conclusion
Understanding and balancing the five elements in Vastu Shastra is a journey toward creating a space that resonates with positive energy. Experiment with these principles, trust your instincts, and gradually transform your living environment into a harmonious sanctuary. Importance Of Vastu Shastra In Interior Designing Of Home Or Office
There is a lot of misinformation and even some fear surrounding Vastu, the science of architecture. Those that follow its tenets often build their houses and businesses accordingly, while those who don't may be afraid to do so for fear of bad fortune. There is no truth to these claims. There are no negative consequences for deviating from the principles of Vastu when decorating a home. It is a set of rules for the efficient placement of rooms and other structural features, including doors, windows, kitchens, pantries, bedrooms, and bathrooms. In the event that these components are not placed in accordance with the guidelines laid out by Vastu, it also provides advice on how to remedy the situation.
Vastu Shastra is a body of guidelines for the construction of houses and other man-made structures, outlining requirements for things like site preparation, design, space organisation, and dimensional geometry. Hindu and Buddhist religious tenets have traditionally been incorporated as well. In addition to the standard layout plans, geometric patterns, direction alignments, and symmetrical design that are commonplace in Western interior design, Vastu Shastra emphasises the need of achieving a balance between the natural world and the home.
According to Vastu principles, there should be a connection between a space's form and layout, as well as its intended function and use. The bedroom, living room, kitchen, prayer room, bathroom, home office, playroom, and outdoor spaces should all be designed according to Vastu Shastra principles. The principles of Vastu have also been incorporated into the design of public places including parks, plazas, plaza gardens, highways, townships, waterworks, and other urban amenities.
Vastu is revered as the soul of a house because it strikes a harmony between the earth, water, fire, air, and space. Each space in a house has its own energy, or prana, and that energy should be reflected in a way that promotes happiness and harmony throughout the house as a whole. It's true that a family's mental well-being is affected by the vibe of their home.
Since the five elements are the building blocks of everything, a disruption in their equilibrium would have a negative effect on the cosmos as a whole. As a result, the stability of a home and one's mental state are both dependent on the equilibrium of the panchabhutas.
According to Vaastu Shastra, a home's elements and directions should be combined with those that share complementary qualities.
The north-east corner of a house is where you want to put your living room because of the peaceful and optimistic vibe it exudes. A friendly community can be easily established with a northerly orientation.
Typically, the front door leads directly into the living room. Health, money, renown, and honour are all brought to those who construct it in the north or east. Pathak Properties provides Architectural designing services in Nagpur, and so everything can be designed and set up keeping not just design but Vaastu in mind as well.
Second, it's best to have your windows facing either north or east. It is bad luck to enter a building from the south or west.
Third, walls should be painted in lighter tones to make the space feel cosier.
The best places to put furniture are the south and west sides of the room.
The south-east corner of a room is the best spot for electrical appliances, whereas the west is the best spot for hanging big chandeliers.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when you plan your dream home:
Don't put the bathroom or a water source in the middle of the living area. People think it takes all their money and runs.
A leaking tap is considered an unlucky sign that might produce financial problems for a household, thus it should be fixed as quickly as possible.
The kitchen, bathroom, and prayer area should not be in close proximity to one another.
Electric appliances should be oriented toward the south-west, whereas gas and microwave ovens should not be placed with their front faces toward the door.
Keep the cylinder pointed south-southeast if at all possible.
Plants are an integral part of any home's decor and ambiance. Because of their auspicious qualities, tulsi and neem plants should be kept in every home. Don't bother with plants like cacti either.
It's bad luck for the household if the restrooms are located beneath the stairs.
One of the latest trends in home decor is the usage of mirrors. Correct mirror placement is crucial because mirrors reflect and attract positive energy. If you want to get rid of any bad vibes, try putting the mirror facing east or north. Mirrors over beds tend to generate discord between partners, so try to avoid placing one there. Studying in front of a mirror is discouraged as well.
Heavy, dark drapes should be used in the living room, while lighter colours should be used in the bedroom. According to vastu, this practise contributes to a harmonious environment by redistributing positive and negative energies.
Paintings of conflict and violence should not be displayed in your home; instead, hang paintings of peaceful scenes like waterfalls or daybreak.
Interior designing consultants at Pathak properties also make sure to Architectural designing services in Nagpurkeep the Vaastu shastra in mind so that not only is the design perfectly suited to the home owner but also the energies are on point for the people to comfortably live in.

[12/29, 7:01 AM] Jagadeesh Chandra krishna: Our mind is very fast and can think of a place even thousands of miles away in a second.
In a moment our mind can think of even the planets that are far away, far away, beyond our reach.
Distance is not a barrier for the mind to think.
Our mind is capable of knowing how far away it is.
The mind is always inquiring about what is far away.
It does not have the ability to know anything close to us.
For example, the sky tells us that it is thousands of kilometers above our heads.
As soon as we say sky, we stand up and look above our heads. God is believed to exist in a distant space above the earth.
Akayam is one of the panchabhuta shaktis, the most primal. All creation takes place in this Akash shakti.
About nine hundred and eight percent of this energy is Akash. Creation is only about two percent.
But if that two percent creation is so vast, our minds cannot calculate the total cosmic force.
But this celestial power is not just outside of us.
It is very close to us.
It is not difficult for the self-realized sages to know the distance. They said it is difficult to know what is very close to us.
In meditation, a man can feel the celestial energy within him, just in the state of his mind.
Space is not just somewhere far away. It starts from within us.
For example, the space between one thought and the next thought is space

[12/29, 7:02 AM] Jagadeesh Chandra krishna:
