シンセサイザーの勉強を始めてから16カ月が経ち、ようやくいろいろとわかりかけてきた。もちろんまだまだ知らないこと、わからないことの方が多いのだけど。

初めて触れた時はVCAとはなんぞや? LFOとは? AD/ADSR? 唯一オシレーターは知っていたけど、本当になにも知らなかった。電圧でコントロールするってどうことなのか、そのCVとは一体なにを指すのか。そんな初歩中の初歩から学び始め、モジュールはなにを買えばいいのかわからないまま適当に集め今に至る。

思ってた以上にケースが埋まるペースが早く、あっという間に6U86HPが2ついっぱいになってしまったけど、同じケースを買い続けるのも面白くないし、そもそも高いしそれならモジュール欲しいしと葛藤してる時にIntellijelの4U104HPが1Uのモジュール4つ付いてお買い得な金額で出てたので購入。その流れでMutable InstrumentsのRipples (2台目)となぜか勢いでAlm Busy CircuitsのPamela’s New Workoutを2台購入。いらなければ売ればいいしと。結果、今のところ2台あっても別に無駄ではないとわかった。

用語の意味は少しずつわかってきたけど、それでもモジュールそれぞれの説明書なんか読んでみても結局よくわからないことばかり。なので勢いで買ってみるのが正解なんだと思う。そのPamela’s New Workoutも理解していないまま購入したので使い始めて驚いた。ただのマスタークロックだと思っていたけどEnvやLFOも生���できるので想定していた以上にいろんなことができるようになった。それに伴い他のモジュールも「こんな風に使えるのか」という発見がたくさん出てきた。いい誤算。

このクリップはPamela’s New Workoutを主な制御装置としてMake NoiseのMathsを動かしてそこから他のモジュールを制御。主に鳴っているのはAfter Later AudioのTyphoonで処理したRoland TR-66 Rhythm Arrangerの音とMutable Instruments Warpsのバリバリノイズ。面白い。

There are those who are so fond of horror movies that they'll accept almost anything as long as it provides the necessary creep factor. But I am not one of them, so I found The Legend of Hell House silly and dull, with an exceptionally preposterous ending. It's the usual haunted house nonsense, with a group of "researchers" who spend nights investigating the paranormal reported to be rife in the creepy old mansion. In this case there's Dr. Barrett (Clive Revill),  a physicist who purports to believe that ghosts and such are natural phenomena -- something to do with electricity -- and brings along a machine that's supposed to neutralize them. His wife, Ann (Gayle Hunnicutt), insists on joining him, and they're accompanied by two mediums, Florence Tanner (Pamela Franklin) and Ben Fischer (Roddy McDowall). Fischer has been there before, many years ago, in a similar exploration in which everyone was killed or maimed except him. It's a mark of the screenplay's ineptness that we never get a full explanation of why he decided to return, except that he and Barrett and Tanner have each been promised £100,000 if they can expel the spooks. None of the characters is particularly likable, so we don't have much invested in their survival. Neither the writer nor the director is skilled at building suspense, and the result is a marshaling of clichés unleavened by wit.

Roland Gerald Kinsman, II ""Skip"", 90, of Elkhart, IN went home to his Heavenly Father on February 25, 2024 in Haines City, FL while surrounded by family.

Skip was born in Zion, IL on February 11, 1934 to the late, Roland Thomas Kinsman and Gladys (Schoepp) Kinsman. Skip married the love of his life, Alice Marie Hunt on June 7, 1958 at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Zion, Il.

Skip is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alice Kinsman; brother, Gary Kinsman of Illinois, and 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Skip graduated high school in 1952 From Zion Benton Township High School, Zion Illinois. Skip excelled in football, wrestling and track as a record breaking pole vaulter. In the 7th grade, Skip began playing the trumpet, soon developing into a skilled and sought after professional musician and lifelong passion, which he passed on to all of children and grandchildren.

After graduating high school, Skip attended Bob Jones University, Greenville South Carolina, where he studied bible and toured Central America with his trumpet as part of a music ministry team. Skip attended Sherwood School of Music and University of Chicago, graduating with a bachelor's degree in music education in 1962. In 1976, Skip earned his master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Roosevelt University, Chicago Il.

Skip was an educator for 37 years, serving as band director at Grayslake, Illinois and Round Lake, Illinois school systems, with the majority of his career served in the Zion Illinois District 6 as Junior High band director, guidance counselor, and music educator.

Skip joyfully played his trumpet for the Lord every Sunday at Lakeview Missionary Church, in Zion Illinois and 1st Presbyterian Church, Haines City Florida where he was member. Skip also served as choir director at Bonnie Brook Baptist Church, Waukegan Illinois and Lakeview Church Zion Illinois. Skip and Alice also attended Beulah Missionary Church, Goshen, Indiana.

Skip found pleasure in golfing, felling trees and splitting firewood, but his life long passion was knowing his Savior, Jesus Christ, and spending time each day in scripture and prayer. Skip and Alice lived their life together and raised their family never wavering from the Lord and always seeking His leading. For 66 years they started each together in prayer, lifting up each one of Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Skip's life was full and well-lived, but not without challenges including fires and floods. But he faced each challenge and even death itself clinging closely to the word of God, and his Heavenly Father who led him all the way, often proclaiming the words of Apostle Paul In Romans chapter 8: In all these things we are more than conquers through Him who loved us. for I am convinced that neither death nor life neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A Funeral Service for Skip will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 12:00pm, EST, at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old County Road 17, Goshen, IN 46528 with Pastor Kelley Sewell, officiating.

MANILA, Philippines—The Sandiganbayan convicted an examiner of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for leaking the questions of the 2006 nursing exams.

Virgina Diolola-Madeja, a member of the PRC Board of Nursing, was sentenced to six years in jail for violation of the PRC Modernization Act and the antigraft law.

The court affirmed the conclusion of a PRC fact-finding committee that there was leakage, saying that copies of the test questions handled by Madeja were distributed to reviewees of Gapuz Review Center and Institute for Review and Special Studies (Inress) before the exam on June 11 and 12, 2006.

The committee investigation stemmed from a complaint filed against Ray Gapuz, who owns the Gapuz Review Center.

The committee found that during the exams, some examinees wearing jackets and shirts bearing the title “Gapuz Review Center” finished taking the test for only half an hour.

Evidence showed that Madeja was affiliated with Inress, which also purportedly administered the leaked notes.Article continues after this advertisement

Donabel Atienza, a former PRC administrative officer, had testified that Madeja was nominated as member to the board by the Philippine Nurses Association, then headed by George Cordero, who also owns Inress and the Philippine College of Health and Sciences (PCHS).Article continues after this advertisement

In her curriculum vitae, Madeja said she was affiliated with Inress.

Another witness, Pamela Ortega, told the fact-finding committee that Cordero had invited PCHS graduates and Inress reviewees in an “enhancement review class” on June 9, 2006, and handed out stapled test questions saying these would surely come out in the board exams.

True enough, on June 12, the very same questions came out in the boards, Ortega said. The witness even quoted Cordero as saying during the meeting that he “did not pay P7 million for nothing.”

Madeja had argued that the leaked documents did not come from her. She said the leakage could have happened when she photocopied her test question manuscripts at the Alva Computer and Photocopying Services on Morayta Street on June 7, 2006, or when she left her bag at the library.

But the court affirmed that the leakage directly came from Madeja, who has the sole knowledge on the manuscript.

Licensure Office Director Amelia Empaynado had testified in court that 56 of the 68 situations in the leaked exam were similar to the test manuscript prepared by Madeja.

Also, there were only 15 situations in the 17 pages supposedly photocopied which were covered in the leakage notes, the court said

The court said Madeja’s defense that she left the manuscripts in her bag has no merit because she did not even report the incident. The said manuscript was also returned to the commission afterward.

“The pieces of evidence presented by the prosecution lead to no other conclusion than the accused leaked or divulged her prepared test questions to unauthorized persons prior to the June 11 and 12 (licensure exams),” according to the decision of the Special Fifth Division composed of Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang and Associate Justices Roland Jurado and Alex Gesmundo.

“Her act of divulging her test questions prior to the said dates unquestionably caused damage not only to the licensure examinations for nurses but also for all professional licensure examinations,” it added.

Madeja was sentenced to six years and one month to seven years in jail, a penalty of P100,000, and perpetual disqualification from public office. Her bail bond for provisional liberty was also canceled.

That said, Ron is The Wizard of Bubblegum Music—songs that burst out and get people hooked. Over the years I’ve grown to appreciate the crafting that goes into making these “ear candy” recordings.

Davy Jones spoke highly of Ron, and one of Davy’s last singles was “Amore,” a track written by Chris Andrews and produced by Ron (we i.e. Davy Jones Band performed it often). Ron would pop up at our shows, and we were happy to do this (!) song whenever we could:
