Words/Phrases that make you cringe?

Words or phrases that make you cringe/grind your teeth/roll your eyes? I’ll start with ‘unfurl.’ It is so often crammed into poetry as a forced, cringeworthy, rhyme. Unless you are talking about a flag or a fern, it is my view that you should think very carefully before you use it!

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines ‘Unfurl’ as follows:

‘Meaning of unfurl in English unfurl verb 

If a flag, sail, or banner unfurls, it becomes open from a rolled position, and if you unfurl a flag, etc., you make it do this:

The demonstrators unfurled a large banner.’

Ahora estoy aprendiendo a pintar con gouache, es similar a la acuarela aunque el gouache tiene sus diferencias: es más opaco que la acuarela y si te pasas de capas este comienza a cuartearse... provocando que se desprenda del papel.
