And the oldest of my new writing implement friends is the Pal pencil, a mechanical pencil from 1920/21. I looked it up, this is apparently the silver plated original model. The lead comes out for use and retracts by twisting the knob at top. Under that knob is an ossified 100 year old eraser, which amuses me greatly.
